I had registered for the online version of the class and had to drop it for personal reasons. I tookthe class this Summer and it was well worth it. She is very smart, witty and she makes the class very interesting and flavorful.

Took class online, very straightforward with assignments from day one. Turn in your posting’s on time and actually read before her tests and you will be fine. She curves the final and you have one paper due.

This woman is smart, knowledgeable and a good professor. I took Female Psych online with her and she was able to hold my interest as good as any on-campus class. She is insightful, really knows her stuff and makes the class really interesting. Her class is not particularly hard (3 tests, 1 paper, weekly discussion posts)

She's so fun! You won't get sleepy with her lectures. She's so knowledgable and gives you a lot to think about. She's young too so she's very understanding with student concerns provided that you've been paying attention to her lectures. She's cool. I'd take her again.

She was really cool and fair. I took the class after others recommended it. She is only really strict about handing things in late- she won't accept it. But although class is a lecture we have discussions, its a lot of fun. I attended every class even though we didn't have to. She also dresses really nice- check out her shoes!

Exellent professor. She really knows her stuff. Gets annoyed when noone reads the chapters and is strict about turning things in on time, but she is very fair in her grading (curves tests) and the lectures are pretty interesting. As long as you listen to her instructions and do the assignments, you should have no problem getting an A in the class

Fair teacher- I actually attended class every week. Be prepared to use WebCT- but it is really useful, she gives you examples for assignments and links to things that will really help you do well.

I learned a lot in this class. Thought I knew all about Hip Hop- but it was interesting! She was cool. If you do the work you'll do fine.

I took her Race & Gender in Hip Hop class. It was really interesting. You have to put a little effort- HAND IN EVERYTHIN- if you do you'll have no problem getting an A

I took the class online and it was one of the best in terms of what you need to understand. There are examples, lectures include her talking, exam games and tons of materials. Everything is pretty straight forward and she gives you a grading sheet so you know what she expects. Liked the class although I took it as a psych requirement

This is NOT a slack class by a long shot. You have weekly discussions, which become annoying, a paper, which you have to follow directions to the tee and 3 exams:they are quite difficult even though you can use notes and the book. I studied and got an A, but its not easy. The teacher is eh. She CAN teach well, but seems unapproachable and defensive

DO NOT TAKE FOR EASY A! yes, she is tough & demanding but you're not in high school anymore. 3 exams, 10 weekly discussions & 1 paper, you can use a cheatsheet for the exams but it won't help if you didn't read. discussions are easy, 1 per week. she is picky with the research paper but not hard. learned A LOT & would recommend.

This class was interesting. Straightforward. You have to be an adult- she won't hold your hand. But if you go to her office hours SHE WILL HELP YOU WITH EVERYTHING. Got an A on paper after she helped map the entire thing out.

My 7th online course and one of the best. Has everything you need to do well. Just follow instructions and read her messages. Responds quickly to emails. Got an A by putting in some effort.

She's straight forward and good at getting the information across. Weekly posting, 3 exams and a paper. Lots of stuff online to help you. Nice when you talk to her one on one- really helpful with grad school info. All business when in class. I learned a lot. Definitely take it with her.

Took it online and it felt as if I was in an actual lecture class. All her lectures are online and she uses tons of resources to help you. The class is tedious but she does it to make sure that you're keeping up each week. 3 exams (40 questions), 1 paper (pretty easy), and weekly discussions (really help you make connections). I HIGHLY recommend.

I love her, she is great, the class is very informative especially for you ladies. Let's first say that we are in university so there's going to be some work. This was not that stressful- 3 exams, 1 paper and a weekly post. I didn't have problem but you do have to follow instructions- DUH!!! She response fast, answers to the point and grades on time. I liked the class.

I liked it. Didn't make it anti- man class and challenges women too. She's tough with deadlines. Didn't mind attending class.

If you don't want to work don't take this class. Make sure you attend every class especially in the beginning so you can get all the iclicker points that aren't right or wrong answers. After 3 wks the iclickers are rite or wrong. Exams are kind of difficult but if you read and study from the book you should be fine.

I agree that she is very attractive...but she is also intelligent. I was pleasantly surprised by this course. Dr. Stephens really cares about her students. She expects you to study, work hard, and be respectful. She has zero tolerance for academic dishonesty. She is fair but you are expected to be responsible for your own learning.

I took this class online and it was a lot work. I liked the class material overall and she was very well prepared for teaching this course. However, she is extremely hard to get in contact with and seems to be very close minded(as if she was mad at the world).My recommendations: DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO WORK HARD.

Assignments made sense- lots of examples, explainations why we're doing the assignment, detailed instructions. If you are lazy you don't want to take this class- but realistically not unrealistic amount of work. I learned stuff. She's fair and one of most accessible online instructors I've ever had.

Liked this class- really interesting. On point and regular communication. Responded faster than any online course I've taken. Offers lots of information and examples- seems like over kill but at least its there. Just read instructions, messages and got an A before last exam. Take this class!

She is an excellent professor. Very professional and extremely organized. There is a lot of work, so prepare yourself. Just do what is required and you will get your A.

Very easy and interesting class. I loved it! The book was great too. I learned a lot. I took Psy of Women for the summer and received an "A" in the class. The class consists of weekly discussions, quizzes, practice games, 1 research paper (which she gives you the opportunity to choose from 3 due dates), and 3 exams. One of the best psy classes.

I was in that first class last week-you arrived late, interrupted the lecture to ask if she took attendance, then started loud conversation. I'm retaking the class for incomplete and she is very helpful. Not my favorite course but she's fine and not hard. Like idea of Iclickers- she didn't have in online section.

Took it online. Not going to say easy A, but definitely do able. Max grade to get in her class is 110 so already 10 extra points given to you. Need to do 6 weekly discussions out of 10, research paper, and three exams. Overall I found her to be very helpful and her online class wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Great teacher! All exams came straight from the book and lectures/powerpoints. Attendance is not mandatory but essential in getting an A in the exams and in the class (she uses iClickers). Class lectures are interesting, instructions are crystal clear, and grades are updated weekly. This is not an "easy A" but the class is def. not hard.

Great class! Recommend it for any social science major - if you're an AFA major you MUST take this class - but the course load is typical for a 4000 class so if ur looking for any easy elective this isnt it. Dr. Stephens is very helpful and its obvious she put a lot of effort into making the class an enjoyable experience.

Attendance is mandatory. She uses the clicker for almost every class. She is not an easy but it is definitely not difficult to get one. She is very thorough with teaching all the material. Exams are online but are not a piece of case either. All the powerpoints come directly from the book. The textbook is a must! Highly recommend her!

Took as my elective.Typical upper level class workload. Really interesting content-uses both videos and articles to discuss Hip Hop. Easy to get appointment with her even though it was online course- really helpful when I met with her. Learned a lot! Great class!

By far THE BEST online professor I've ever had. Her grading scale is 110 so you have 17% to lose and still get an A. Weekly responses (easy), exams and a paper. She's reasonable in her grading & willing to help all her students. Definitely recommend!

The only way to pass this class is reading the book from start to end. There is 3 exams, one research paper (9 pages), and 6 weekly discussions. The class was very interesting. It changes your perspective. I loved all the topics. Make sure you play the games each week, Those are very helpful for the exam. She also gives extra credit opportunity.

I'm not sure why some people are complaining but this class wasn't difficult. Honestly, put effort into the wallpost and read. Also, play the weekly games they help BIG TIME!! You really learn a lot in this class, i loved it

Ms. Stephens was definitely very organized. Everything is sectioned off weekly and tells you exactly what is needed to be done. Unfortunately, her tests aren't as organized as her class. It seems that they are just worded so they will confuse you. You do have to work and she expects a lot from you. Just because it's online, it is not easier.

Really interesting class. However, the teacher organizes the blackboard horribly and that makes the class really confusing. There are 6 discussions (more like essays) based on journal articles and videos. Exams and the 10 page research paper are very hard. Course points add up to 110 but only grades out of 100. You CAN get an A. Dont be afraid!

First off, no, she never claims her class will be easy- quite the opposite- but an A is doable. Don't be surprised when you get a bad grade because you didn't follow her rubric. My only complaint is her course layout on Blackboard; it took me 3 weeks to feel comfortable w her endless folders, but don't let that stop you from taking her.

Great professor. Gives lots of resources. Her test are not horrible, they are open book. Even if you get all B's in the exams you still can get an A in her class. Lots of help offered for the research paper.

Professor Stephens is very helpful and you have to follow her grading criteria. She is straight forward regarding what she is looking for in the weekly discussions and the research paper. The exams are a little tough because it is a lot of material to cover for one exam, however they are very durable.

The class is pretty well structured (took it online) at first I spazzed out because it seemed all so messy. But after a week I got the hang of it. Her guidelines WILL not change for you. Miss the quiz or discussion? Too bad. She's very flexible with time so there's no excuse. You definitely have to read weekly in order to pass. Easy A. good luck.

Her online class is easy IF YOU DO YOUR WORK. This is a good class if you put effort. She gives you a total of 110 pts, and calculates your grade out of 100. That's extra credit right off the bat. Long paper, but easy grader. Also, you can't bs the weekly discussions. Do the work, you will be fine. Easy material, I promise.

You HAVE to attend class. She gives Iclicker quizzes and I promise you they aren't easy. You have to take three exams and they are difficult, even though they are online you need to have read. Her paper was also a little difficult. She's a tough grader. On the plus side her and the class are extremely interesting and you can at least get a C.

It is pretty clear on what you re supposed to do. Do not let that fool you, you need to study thoroughly to learn the concepts because the questions will not always be in the learned format, plus on the online discussions you need to exercise what you understood of the material along with definitions from the book and examples form the lectures.

Test are SUPER hard, you won't find any answers online, must read the book like 3 times to pass the test. Be careful with plagiarism, she wont tell you until the end of the semester that you had any. She is VERY NICE and understanding. NO late work or extra credit.

Excellent class! The textbook has great topics and info (chapters can be long), she also gives virtual lectures for each chapter. Fun weekly discussions with relevant topics, 3 exams, and a research paper (hardest part for me) but she gives you an example along with grading rubric that are super helpful. Definitely recommend this class!

Professor Stephens is not an easy A. she wants you to learn and expand your abilities to write comprehensively passionately. her home is not hard just answering a paragraph of so a question. The heavest grade assignments are the essay and the presentation but her guideline is super simple to follow.

The work wasn't hard! but you do need to carefully read her syllabus for writing expectations. Very specific about connecting your book to her discussion assignments. Exams are open book/notes, very easy. I passed with a 98, about 3hrs a week of coursework.

This was my favorite class this semester. You have to work for your grade but if you put effort in then you will succeed. She gives you ample opportunities, time, and directions. If you fail, it is completely on you. Not her! I think the people complaining on here weren't ready for a 4000 level course! I ended the class with a 107 and learned a lot
