He would rather be your friend than have you learn the material. As a result, I got a good grade and didn't learn a thing.
He cares about his students very much, but he is a diffucult teacher: no, very diffucult. He also has a thick accent so its hard to understand clearly and his pace is very erractic. Can be very slow and then suddenly cover a chapter a day. As for being helpful; it also varies. Answers arent always straight forward. Overrall, extremely smart, but needs more organization and consistency with grading. Only recommended for the most dedicated.
did not like him at all. changes his mind too much. i do not recommend taking him, but he is the only teacher who teaches these two classes. i would suggest you take the class somewhere else.
I learned a lot in this class. It is up to you to learn a lot of the information on your own by reading the book. When you get stuck ask him for help and you will understand it better. He cares very much for his students and wants to see everyone do well. As long as you try hard and show him you are trying you will get a good grade.
Fun teacher! Knows how to make everyone smile with his jokes and accent. Very helpful, sometimes goes over answers for lab questions. If you have a hard time understanding accents, you prob shouldnt take him
Nice Guy, but hard to understand
Chem is not an easy class and required study time. Dr Fard was great at teaching the subject and taught to the point. If you read the book and his notes and take advantage of his test in the tutor lab you will do well. He is funny and keeps you awake with candy.
Dr. Fard is awesome. He will help you out at all cost. He will go beyond what a teacher should do for a student. Any issue I had he was suportive. He gave real life examples when explaining his work. YOu wont regreat his class. Great teacher.
Great teacher. He just might think he's a rock star. Only prof I ever saw who got an ovation every time he started class. Candy used both to wake sleepy students and as reward for correct answers or insightful questions. Odds are, first test WILL hurt, but subsequent tests easier, & he offers deals to improve grade with improved score on those.
Great teacher and actually gets to know his students
Dr. Fard makes chemistry fun! He is an amazing teacher with a passion for chemistry and teaching...Refreshing!
Very nice guy, but needs to stick to teaching beginning chemistry. Don't take him for Chem 1A or 1B especially if you need to take more chemistry. He doesn't teach areas that you will need later. If all you need is Chem 2A/2B, he's great. He curves the grade so much that you leave the class with an A without having to really understand chemistry.
Dr Fard is the best chemistry teacher at Shasta. He gives you all the tools you need to pass his class. He gives you chocolate if you get the right answers and absolutely loves his job and his students. His accent is not an issue and the only time it was a little hard to understand him was right after a break when he spent time with family! lol
OK, chemistry is hard... but you may as well suffer through it with chocolate and an upbeat, helpful prof. Grades on a curve. Drops the quizzes his more pathetic students bomb on. Gives practice tests. I had to work harder than any other class I've taken and didn't fully understand everything, but my grade is still intact.
In this class he did not grade on a curve. He is very entertaining. He does not go over everything he expects you to know. You must read the textbook. The exams are challenging. He will upgrade your grade if you get 20 points higher on the next exam and even if you have bombed the whole class you can still get an A if you get an A on the final.
Dr. Fard is a brilliant man, he demonstrates his knowledge of Chemistry very well. As far as teaching, there is a lot left to be desired. If you want to teach yourself the material, take him. If you need actual instruction...good luck!
I love Dr.Fard, hes a great teacher. I have an A in his class because I read the book, attend all lectures, discussions and labs, I hand copy his notes and I do his practice tests for the tests twice. It is very possible to pass his class you just have to actually work at it. But he is a great teacher and he makes the class fun and is very helpful.
I loved this class. I greatly enjoy being given a challenge, and that is exactly what this class was. It challenged me to learn stuff I did not think my brain could comprehend. He knows all his student's names and is very upbeat. If you have to take chem, might as well make it fun! I highly recommend this instructor!
Divan Fard is a wonderful teacher. I am eternally grateful for the knowledge and wisdom he shared with us about Chemistry and life/existence in general.
Dr. Fard is a very amazing instructor. He is a joy in class and very knowledgable. Dr. Fard you ROCK!!!!!!
AWESOME person. Makes Chem fun and truely is an awesome man. He is by far one of they best professor's I have met at shasta. No issues understanding him, but then again I just moved to redding from a place thats full of diversity and accents.
Dr. Fard was an amazing teacher and always slowed down and explained what was going on to those who didn't understand it. All of the tests were open book, and his class was always fun to attended, needless to say I didn't miss a single day and didn't have to struggle to earn my grade.
Dr. Fard it the best teacher that I have ever had. For someone to make Chemistry fun and enjoyable is amazing. It is a hard class but I suggest everyone take him because he is the sweetest and funniest guy ever! :D
Best teacher ever!!! Dr. Fard definitely makes chemistry fun and lively. Very helpful and full of energy and humor. He doesn't expect to make you into chemists, but strives instead to help you become better problem solvers. His goal is to teach you how to find the information you need in order to make an informed decision. Open book tests and he gives plenty of opportunity to improve your grade. I strongly recommend him for every student taking Chem 2A. Thank you, Dr. Fard for a wonderful class!
I have never had a teacher as committed to teaching as Dr. Fard. The material was difficult for me, but his willingness to provide extra help when needed, a fun atmosphere for the entire class, and his understanding of the true needs of his students made it so easy to actually learn. If you have to take chemistry I recommend taking his course.
Dr Fard is a great teacher for someone who doesn't need to understand chemistry. If you need to go higher up in chemistry don't take him. His goal isn't so much to teach you chemistry as to make sure you have a good time. I don't recommend him for any chemistry majors, but if you're taking his class to get rid of a science course he's your teacher.
Chemistry is a difficult class in general. It doesn't help when the teacher has a heavy accent when he's trying to explain things. On tests he does allow open book and all of his grading practices seem fair. He's also energetic and gets to know eveyone in class (he will know which days you are absent) and probably call you out on it. Overall 2.5
Great teacher! Dr. Fard made Chem interesting and fun :) It took a few lectures to be able to understand him, but once you do it's easy. The class was not easy itself, but if you get a good study partner or two, then you can take on any test he throws your way. Lab was interesting. I was able to learn sooooo much!
He is a great teacher. Very helpful in answering any questions you might have as well as being very encouraging. He also has a great sense of humor. Thanks to him I actually started to enjoy this class a little bit.
Dr. Fard is a nice man but he is a bad teacher. His lectures are difficult to get much out of. He spends little time on problems he will put on an exam and spends more time lecturing on trivial things which wont be testable. He also rushes through the the first 9 ch. of the text and drags out the final ch. instead of doing a cumulative review
great teacher. He always motivates you to do better. heavy accent though, but still understandable.
He is a very excited and happy teacher, consistantly. It makes the class fun. Accent did not make it hard to understand and he will clarify and help you learn anything that you want. He is always in office during hours and very helpful if you take the time! Great teacher! He knows all of his students and wants them to succeed.
Fard is the worst science teacher I've every had. Lectures are unclear. He goes over easy problems in class, and then tests on problems that aren't anything like what he went over prior. There is no partial credit. If you ask a question, he gives a quick generic answer and moves on. I caution anyone thinking of taking his class.
Dr. Fard makes chemistry a bearable subject because he’s nice, helpful and funny. The tests are open book, and he posts practice tests online which always include questions that will show up on the exams. He’s very approachable and knowledgeable but he does expect you to commit your time and focus onto the subject, so be prepared for that.
Dr. Fard is a great teacher. He said several times that he views his students as his children, and that it is his goal in life to help his students succeed. The class itself wasn't that hard, and his tests were all open-book, even the final. I highly recommend him for anyone taking chemistry.
One of the most approachable teachers. He can explain things several ways so one will work for you. Never degrades his students and desires success for everyone.
Dr Fard is a very fun professor, he throws chocolate if you get a correct answer, he allows the textbook for tests & he made learning Chemistry fun. It's a hard class, but do the online sample tests, take notes, attend lectures & labs, & you'll do great! Now do the monkey dance. Go Guys!
Dr. Fard is one of the best professors I've ever had at Shasta. I hated chem but he was funny, (very) enthusiastic, and more than happy to help in any way he can. He will even find you a tutor if you need one. He knows his students so well that he will even notice if you are sleepy or sick, and will definitely notice if you don't attend class.
Dr, fard is amazing one of the best teachers and person ive ever met!! He is extremely helpfull and loves what he does which makes you enjoy him! I highly reccomend him for chem..
Great teacher, very entergetic, sometimes too much when it is your first class of the day. Favors the students who do well. Everyone else he really doesn't pay much attention to.
the worst teacher I have had at Shasta. He doesn't explain well and he gave us a test on a chapter we never covered in class. Most of my class is failing and he told us we ask too many questions which was very discouraging. I have been teaching myself all semester.
Dr. Fard is probably the nicest professor I've had at Shasta. He's funny and always willing to answer your questions. Tests are open book.
Teaching style is not clear or consistant does not teach for success ....but ttries to trick you but does not prepare you for it. Alot of material to go over for small test sizes...outside sources will help you through this course because he does not teach well..Great guy terrible teacher
Great teacher. Fun and lively. You can't go wrong with him. Two thumbs up, three if I had an extra.
Chem 10 was my first class of the day. Dr. Fard was very energetic and lively and made it fun to come to in the morning. Don't care for science much but he made it bearable to sit through class. Let's you use your book on tests and final. Gives out chocolate if you get answers right during class lecture. Great person and definitely knows his stuff.
There is basically no reason to study for exams. If you study for hours, if you understand the material in the book, study the sample tests, it won't help. The class average was 55. That's an F.
In class he doesn't teach but rather just ask easy questions to the class. The discussion problems are straightforward. But the tests are unnecessarily challenging. He puts problems on the test meant to trick you instead of testing your understanding.
As far as complaints about not being able to ask questions, or that he didnt cover some material, get used to college! He was always extremely helpful and willing to answer questions if shown the interest and visited him in office hours. Good luck in chemistry! He stoked my interest in the subject, and for that I'm greatful.
Dr. Fard has an accent but he will take the time to explain anything you need him to but you do have to ask, if you don't ask then he will assume that you understand. The labs are easy, some can be tedious. He is very energetic he wants to see you do well and will help you if you put the time in. Don't ever miss a lecture though you will be lost.
Dr Fard is a great professor. No, he is not going to hand you an A without any effort from you but if you pay attention and ask questions you will do well. It will require study time at home and maybe meeting with your group outside of class a few times. if you're taking his class that means YOU ARE IN COLLEGE. Be prepared to work for your grade.
I could not understand this teacher half the time. He dodged questions and never really answered them. He would put stuff on tests that we never covered. And doesn't give enough examples for us to get the concepts. I would not recommend this professor, unles you want to get more confused than when you walk in.
He makes chemistry fun with the way he gives funny demonstrations. He uses the book pretty much. The class isn't that hard, but it requires a lot of studying and knowing what you are doing from the experiments in the lab work.
This professor needs a seriously reality check. The way he calls out students in front of the entire class and humiliates them is NOT OKAY. This has not personally happened to me but I am looking out for fellow students. If something doesn''t happen about this soon I am for sure going to the school. administration. Beware
Dr Fard is hilarious, fun-loving, and just awesome. He is the funniest prof you will ever have. He truly cares about his students. His tests are tough, they are open book usually. Due to them being open book you have to be able to problem solve and find and apply information. If you do and understand all the practice problems in the bookA.
This is quite literally the hardest class I have taken. I never had success with chemistry in high school, so I was prepared to work hard to understand the concepts taught in this course. Dr. Fard does long lectures and moves at an extremely fast pace. His tests are impossible. The class avg. of our last test was 60%. Just ridiculous. Thumbs down!!
Dr. Fard is a great teacher! He keeps you awake during lectures with chocolate and pop mini group quizzes. He is a funny guy so do not take him if you do not have a sense of humor! Tests are tough but honestly, GO to lectures, TAKE the book to lecture, and lab, and FOLLOW the slides with it, and STUDY the practice quizzes. His tests were open book.
Best chemistry teacher at shasta college
Personally, I loved Dr. Fard. I am apt at chemistry so I found his tests to be easy, I barely studied for them. For 2A tests are multiple choice and open book, even the final, I'm not sure how it can get any easier. If you show him respect, he'll give you the same respect back. Definitely a college level course, but it is what it is.
Personally, I loved Dr. Fard. I am apt at chemistry so I found his tests to be easy, I barely studied for them. For 2A tests are multiple choice and open book, even the final, I'm not sure how it can get any easier. If you show him respect, he'll give you the same respect back.
He's passionate. If you are there to learn, he will be there to teach. He was meant to do what he does. Very knowledgable. He has open book tests and his a very fair grader. If you put forth the effort you will do well.
Dr. Fard was a nice teacher, but honestly I learned more in lab with a different teacher than I did in Fard's lecture. He does keep everyone awake because of his constant voice changes and how he throws candy at people. If you ask him for help you tells you to look it up in the book, without actually explaining your question to you. Alright teacher
I like his grading style. Will raise your last grade if you improve your grade on the following test. Makes you work for the answer, won't give it to you. Very good lectures with humor thrown in. Having a good lab group is very important. Use the learning center for extra help. Do the handouts! Open book tests. Final can raise your grade.
Dr. Fard is nice and you can tell he loves what he teaches but if you need even the slightest bit of help understanding a concept you may as well buy chemistry for dummies. He does not teach for many learning types as well as does not clearly answer questions.
Dr. Fard was an entertaining teacher
Great teacher but tough! Teachs you to really use the books index and this becomes super helpful if your fast! He throws out candy and is very inspirational. ALthough the class might be tough, he has great intentions. If your a good student, you will pass. He will help you along the way, just ask! Dont stress out, stick with it and it will be okay!
Prof Fard definitely loves teaching but he picks favorites. Have a question? You're basically screwed unless a classmate helps you. He literally tells you to "google it" when you have a question. I couldn't understand his accent a lot of the time so I remained confused during his lectures. He's a great guy outside of class but not the best teacher
he is the best teacher i had ever have.
Having taken over 130 units, maintaining a 3.7 GPA I'm pretty confident I can say I put in the effort. This teacher is terrible. If you have a ?, be prepared to figure it out on your own, he'll just tell you to ask your peers. Tests: Don't expect what you discuss in lecture to be on the test. Read or do the homework. You'll have to teach yourself.
Dr. Fard is amazing! Yes, he makes you work for it, but if you show up every day to class with a good attitude and ready to work, he will help you pass his class. Science Learning Center a very helpful resource (how I passed). Make sure you pick good (motivated) lab partners to sit with from day 1. He puts you in study groups with them right away.
He focuses on the mathematical applications of chemistry a lot. If you know the formula equations you will do fine. I recommend studying for this class like you study for a math class. (Do the same thing over in the text book like a thousand times.) He moves very fast. This class is intense; like drinking water through a fire hose.
This class requires some effort. That said, I found it to be much easier than anatomy and physiology. Dr. Fard is also a true gem. Extremely kind and empathetic. He will always help you during office hours. Want to ace the class? Just make sure you can on well on his practice tests. (He recycles a lot of these questions on his actual tests.)
Do the practice tests you'll do fine
Dr. Fard is a nice guy, but I don't recommend him as a professor. He lectures on the simple concepts with few practice problems, then tests you on mathematical problems that you barely cover. In discussion, he relies on other students to answer questions to problems. Yet, can't explain them himself. Class averages on tests were horrid.
Keeps it exciting with his chemistry rap and flying chocolates. Takes his time to answer your questions. Great teacher!
Dr. Fard is great. He tries his best to accommodate students and he's got a sense of humor and fun to him which is really helpful when sitting through lectures. He does make you work for it as any science class will be but he grades rather fairly. Study his practice tests and you'll do fine.
Fun teacher - fun class. I chose Dr. Fard for my Lab as well and I'm so glad I did because it gave me more opportunities to ask him questions. He gave great feedback and extra credit work but you will have to work for your grade. Basically, if you care, your grades will show. Overall, I would highly recommend. P.S. He gives out candy!
Dr. Fard is a really funny guy, but he lectures very fast and only goes over very basic concepts and then on the exams their are questions that he hardly went over. Its a very fast pace class and if you don't like that then he's not the best professor for you. Attendance is important and you need to go to class or you will get dropped.
Dr. Fard is very kind and knowledgeable. That being said, out of all the classes i've taken at Shasta College, this was by far the most challenging. I studied 10+ hours a week and barley recieved an A. He wants you to pass, but he also wants you to put in a great deal of effort. Do the practice tests!!!
I was nervous about taking chem but Dr. Fard made it easy and enjoyable. He is very enthusiastic and cares about his students. He spends time explaining things which can sometimes make the lectures drag. He gives students plenty of chances to make up for bad grades. His practice tests are a life saver for exams. Very encouraging and inspirational!
Didnt allow us to take notes during lecture. It took too much of his time while we wrote stuff down. In discussion, we had to work with our group and he was never there to answer questions. In lab, he disappeared and we never had help. I asked for help during office hours and rather than explaining it to me, he told me to read the textbook.
Great instructor who really cares for his students and his very funny with good sense of humor. The only thing I don't like is how he does his homework, 70-90 questions just for one chapter online seems WAY too much; time consuming.
Fard is a very caring, enthusiastic person who loves his students, but he's hard to understand and isn't the best teacher. I barely touched the textbook the whole class, all the homework was in the form of online quizzes. The tests were unpredictable in difficulty and the lectures hard to understand. Not the easiest class, but hard study will work.
Great teacher cares about students. Very enthusiastic. A litte fast during lectures, must study to pass class gives great study guides. Does not give enough time on tests. Lectures begining of class before passing out test. First test gave class less than one minute a question to complete
Dr. Fard is a wonderfully nice man, but his class is not as wonderful. His class material was highly confusing and the tests for the class were on content not covered in class. The professor acknowledged this and proceeded to put material not covered on the final exam. The class is highly difficult, and the grading system for the class was unclear.
I dont understand how anyone could not get an A in this class. EVERY SINGLE QUESTION AND ANSWER for the test are on his study guides online WORD FOR WORD. Hes very nice, was a good teacher, & and I understood his material. Everything is in the files on canvas, theres no way to fail unless you just arent putting in any effort at all.
The class I had him for was definitely interesting for sure. He gives you all the questions for his quizzes and tests at the beginning of the course. Dr. Fard also genuinely cares about his students, he does mean well but sometimes I think that he misunderstands situations. He isn't a bad professor but also is not one of my favorites either.
This guy is caring and charismatic. I like him as a human. Although, I didn't enjoy his class. I found the subject interesting in the book but his lectures boring. I think this class is built to give the most pathetic student a chance to pass. Just memorize the answers to his study guide and it's an Easy A. I regret not realizing that sooner.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Fard. He truly cares about teaching, hes funny, and a breath of fresh air. I would have him teach me every class if that was an option. If you reach out he helps and he makes his lectures fun.
Dr. Fard was the best professor I have ever had. He actually cares about his students and takes the time to get to know him. He is super accessible. He makes lectures fun and interactive. It is a lot of lecture and assignments, so I was worried at first, but Dr. Fard makes it completely obtainable to get an A if you put in the work.
He's a good person and you can tell he really loves what he does, but for me it was hard to understand him due to his THICK accent and his teaching style. For example, I aced chemistry in high school and some of the material I remember understanding in HS, but in his class just about everything was a struggle to understand. Ultimately almost failed
Took his class online, because of the pandemic. Lectures almost everyday, labs every week, multiple tests every week (almost every day)! Whenever you reach out to him for clarification/help, he is no help whatsoever. Just vague responses such as read this or change lab groups. I never once received valuable help from him. Didnt learn a thing!
Learn from my mistake, and do not take this class online. He would constantly change the due dates on assignments hours before they were due. The kids who recorded the labs were always goofing off. Super stressful, and he had so many assignments due, even during Thanksgiving break. Learn from my mistake, and do not take this class.
This was the worst online class I have ever taken, DO NOT take this class online. Very confusing format, was not helpful when you emailed him with questions, and you never knew when something was supposed to be due. The lab videos were very hard to follow and you had no clue what was going on 99.9% of the time. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE.
All I have to say is... no. DO NOT take this class unless you want to be stressed out 24/7. I took this class online (thanks COVID) and I have nothing positive to say about taking it. I honestly can say I learned close to nothing. I know we're all doing our best with what we have, but c'mon. Just do not take this class online, TRUST ME.
HARD subject. But if you have to take Chem 2A this is the professor to do it with. All of his material is online and you will never see a question you haven't seen before. He is pro student and so sweet! He has an awesome attitude and works hard to help you understand and be fair. Put the work in and he will work wit you.
I took this class during the summer. Big mistake. There were no lectures, only YouTube. He didnt have time to explain anything and relied on videos on You tube and his tutor to handle student questions and explanations. This class was very fast and there was a ton of info to retain. Might have a better experience if taken in spring or fall.
I took this class this summer and what a nightmare. Although the professor is nice and easy to get a long with, he wasn't very helpful in learning the content. The labs were difficult to follow due to the constant giggling in the background as well as the lacking of study material to prepare for exams/quizzes. DONT take this class in the summer.
Almost failed the class because he did not grade the labs I turned in. Even after finishing the class there were still labs he never graded. Guy was all over the place and just sucked.
Dr. Fard is a good guy. You can tell he tries hard to keep his class entertained and he likes to be in class. However, his accent is extremely hard to understand which then leads to miscommunications. Certain things are not explained well, so make sure you are reading the directions, textbook material AND attending SI. He gives extra credit for SI
This guy is extremely unorganized. He will gas light you all the way to the end he claims he grades on a curve and he did not. You wont learn anything from this class he doesnt lecture and claims he cares to help you but doesnt when you ask for help. Probably the worse teacher Ive ever had. I learned nothing and he is a waste of time! Dont take
People seem to think that Chem is supposed to be super easy, it's not. I think that Fard is very fair and accommodating. Really nice guy. A little confusing at times but he worked to adjust to our class and where we needed help. Stressed group work / studying together which really helps. As any STEM class it was exam / lab heavy. $5 textbook.
Fard was hilarious in class, and he's just a sweet guy in general. If you respect him, he'll respect you back. That means, don't screw around or act like a fool. The labs are a bit strenuous, I can admit, but everything else is relatively fair. If you study, you'll pass. I can't say you're guaranteed an A, but you'll pass.
Horrible at teaching the subject, made it very hard to understand. His grading system are super horrible. Very unlikely to help a student pass. He needs to change the way he grade. Overall Rating, this professor gets an F.
In all Dr. Fard is a well respected Professor, who is hilarious but his class is very in organized. His exams have nothing to do with what he lectured on. His grading system is horrible. Get help with tutors in the writing center Dr. Fard is not good at teaching the subject, you have to know it on your own to make it in this class.
Since I only have 350 words... Not tech savvy on canvas, made the class more difficult Did not grade tests correctly (His key was wrong) I felt he was very dismissive when I asked for help. For example, "Look it up on google" He was very confusing in lectures, not because of his accent. He's old and needs to retire...
So much material is unexplained/left out altogether! If you want to ace this class, be prepared to teach yourself all of the concepts. The only reason I passed is because of help from tutoring and SI (supplementary instruction). Inaccessible outside of class, offers no extra credit, has a heavy accent, unorganized. Do not recommend him at all!
This is probably the worse teacher I've ever had, I'll begin with grading which was insane. 80% test, basically all home work and discussions, plus labs are only worth 20%. He was the most unorganized professor I have ever had, test and lectures are almost not related. Actually rude to some students and seemed very forgetful. Do not take this class
We knew one of our data points were wrong on one lab. I asked "What should we do? We know this data point is wrong and will affect our results." He said, "Assume it is correct." We got a D on the assignment- due to that error. "Why dock points for something you said to assume was correct?" "I said assume." Not a bad guy, but not a good person.
I've struggled all semester because of this class. He is a very nice guy but just terribly organized. READ FROM THE BOOK. Ignore his lectures they will only confuse you more trust me. Read every section from all the chapters he goes over. The descriptions and details are far more helpful. Every other bad review on here is very accurate. Dont take!
I do NOT recommend him for Chem. Test scores are all that matter, the reviews for test he gives does NOT reflect what's on the test, when you ask for help on what to study for the test, he says all of it. No guidance, horrible reviews, hard test. I didn't get a good grade while working hard,I passed because of going to tutoring 4 days a week.
Theres no point in doing any of the assignments really because the only thing that will really effect your grade are tests, and if you get 100 on every assignment but fail the tests you will fail the class
This was hands down the worst class and worst instructor I've ever had. He gives absolutely no guidance, his study material is in no way reflective of what's on the class, and he will not go back and help you out if you don't understand. He will let you fall behind. Class average for the final was 50%, and we all studied really hard. DO NOT TAKE
Dr. Fard is kind, patient and beyond accommodating for his students. Just don't expect to go to lectures and immediately have all the knowledge transmitted into your brain. Its a tough subject and requires studying/tutoring. Exams are weighted heavily for final grade, but all the exam questions are selected from previous quizzes/ practice exams.
Dr.Fards lectures were extremely fast pace and hard to understand. Lots of information that was only half taught to us. He kept forgetting to properly input labs. He kept changing his mind about what we were allowed to have on tests. He gave us new packets (which were the only thing we were allowed to use on our tests) right before our final.
Although I received an A in this class, it was hard fought for. Professor Fard is inconsistent with what he says and what he has planned for the course. Said our Final would be open textbook and then the day before the Final, he went back on his word. Teaches and lectures extremely fast, and does not explain coursework well. Would not recommend.
I think he has a tough subject to teach, and it's hard to learn no matter what. But he is kind, funny, knows what he's doing and is understanding of outside life. He grades heavy on testing, so homework and lab is all for learning, not so much credit. Attendance is not graded, but missing class will make you fall behind. Would take again.
As a person, he seems like a nice enough guy. But as a teacher, he's frustrating. When it came to asking him questions about the material, he would answer in a convoluted, roundabout manner that only left me more confused. His grading of tests is also questionable and had mistakes a few times. Also laughably stingy with extra credit.
Chem 2A with this professor is no easy feat, but with the right study tools like unstuckstudy, you can get through it. Lectures can be fast-paced, so be prepared to put in the work outside of class.
Fard has a strong accent, and was often confused with technology. Would often make lecture and discussion quizzes due before the actual lecture. People would have to learn prior to the lectures, rather than with it. Extra credit given throughout the semester, with attendance a huge factor. Only passed because of extra credit. Barely used the book.
His accent is thick and you can barely understand him. He gives no extra credit and he doesn't care if you fall behind. I wouldn't take his class again if some one paid me.
I would say for an Introduction to chem class this was extremely difficult for someone who never took a chemistry class since his high school did not offer one. Did well on labs and the online portion of the class but exams are worth most of grade so this is where it became hard. The SI lectures are offered but not on days where most can attend.
Dr. Fard is kind and caring. You get what you put in though, if you do the homework and go to SI/tutoring getting an A is very very doable. It's chemistry so it's bound to be tough, I wouldn't recommend any chemistry class without working hard outside the classroom though. Just hang in there until the final, the course get's easier at the end.
Dr. Fard is kind and caring. Do not disrespect him though. This is not a class where you can come watch netflix and scroll, and expect a passing grade. It was a hard class but with tutoring, SI and staying on top of homework getting an A was really doable. Hang in there until the final, it gets easier near the end.
I took chem 2a over the summer so things were kinda rushed. However, it wasn't too bad. Dr. Fard gave out lots of extra credit opportunity and even curved the final exam. He also posted practice exams which were really useful to study off all. He made some jokes that I didn't vibe with though...
