She isn't very clear. Very objective. Kind of intimidating to ask questions. She makes you feel somewhat incompetent.
Very rude to students, easily agitated, refuses to answer questions during a test review, will call campus security on a student with an opinion, can't really explain information in an intelligent manner. Avoid at all costs. Altogether, there are some serious inadequacies in the BRCC chemistry department.
Good teacher. Do your mastering chemistry homework and you should be fine. She gives bonus point if you complete your homework on time. She gives a review for each test which was very helful to me.
The class is fairly easy. It can be hard for students who have trouble with chemistry related courses. She can be hard to follow and sometimes freaks out. Overall I like Dr. Miranda, though.
Does the best she can to explain topics that are discussed. Be prepared to learn in this class because students that are disruptive are not well received, as should be expected from any instructor. She will help you if you go to her office hours and request help. Be respectful, this teacher is extremely qualified for this position.
Does a good job of explaining material just don't piss her off. If you find her hard then you should not be taking Chemistry or any science class because she is by far the easiest chem teacher.
Offers many ways to get points besides tests. As long as you complete the mastering chemistry homework and complete all the review questions and problems at the end of each chapter you should make an A in this class. Don't text in class or you can expect to be asked to leave. She is a serious teacher and expects her students to be the same.
Attend class and do the homework! Tests are a little hard, but I am not a chemistry person. Dr. Miranda is extremely helpful with any questions. She is serious about her subject and expects students to be serious as well.
Mastering Chemistry was not the best thing in the world, but if you had any questions she was helpful and helped you to understand.
yoll'll enjoy her class
she is very helpful and tries to make sure i understand the materials she also stresses to come to the offices
Don't miss a class!
This is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is very helpful, and very qualified for the position. She is a college professor, keep this in mind when you come to class, you are in college. She is very helpful, and was always willing to help! Go to her office, she is very welcoming. Chemistry is hard and reguires effort on your part.
She's a very good teacher i would recommend all student who want or need to take chemistry 101 to look into taking Ms. Miranda..She's very helpful and she would make sure you understand the material.
Very Helpful...will take the time to work with you if you are having problems.
Dr. Miranda is a very good professor. She knows her stuff and explains everything in depth. Make sure to make it to class; she gives a few pop quizes. Make sure to read ahead and do all of your Mastering Chemistry. She is kind enough to extend homework whenever you forget about it. She will even attend study sessions to make sure you are on track.
Dr. Miranda is very helpful!!! If you do poorly on a test, meet with her at her office, she explains more detailed one on one. Would recommend this teacher if you need CHEM 102 as well because you learn what you need from here.
It's Chemistry, of course the parts of it that are hard. This is not her fault. She is amazing! She puts so much personal interest in her students success. One of my best experiences at BRCC. Remember, you are in college, so she expects things on your part as well. While bonus points are offered, she is not just giving out hand outs.
Excellent Instructor! The class is set up so that if you put in the work and learn the material you will pass the class. I wouldn't call it easy, but what is demanded of you is very clear.. NO SURPRISES at the end like with some classes. The material was presented so it was easy to understand and she answered all questions!
Dr. Miranda is an instructor who truly cares about the success of all her students. She takes the time to get to know each of you by name (very quickly, I might add). The subject material is tough to begin with, but she teaches it well. If you study, you will do fine. No surprise material on exams, and she grades VERY fairly. Highly recommend.
Dr. Miranda is a very cool. She doesn't put up with crap and she's pretty funny when she clowns on you (but don't take it personally). She's an excellent teacher and a sincere caring person. If you're struggling, she will practically drag you across the finish line--if you comply. And as a bonus, she's cute as a button.
Dr. Miranda is very helpful when it comes to teaching. she knows exactly what she is teaching. She explains every topic detail by detail. She is one of the best professors among Baton Rouge community college professors.Dr. Miranda is always clear in her explanations.I recommend her for any student who is willing to know more detail about chemistry.
Very helpful! Chemistry is a very hard subject but she will try her hardest to help you. A little feisty and doesn't deal with disrespect but other than that a very sweet, generous teacher!
She is a good teacher. Paying attention in class, asking question, study the material, do homework so it is easy to get at least B. The most important thing is that the student must respect her.
Very good teacher! She is one of the most helpful teachers I have ever had the pleasure of taking. She wants you to pass and if she sees that you're trying she will do everything in her power to help you. I wish she taught other classes I have to take.
Dr. Miranda is an amazing teacher!Throughout my 4 1/2 yrs of college she is w/out a doubt one of the best teachers i have ever had. She goes out of her way to help every student as much as she possibly can! She spent at least 1 1/2 hrs 3 days a wk tutoring me! I would highly recommend Dr. Miranda! SHE IS THE BEST! EXCELLENT TEACHER! A+++++++ :)))
OMG, I love her!!! She is a great teacher, and helps you to understand the material clearly. In high school, I didn't understand some things in Chem much, but her teaching made me understand w/o having to question her. sometimes her replies can seem rude (nvr to me), but are hilarious, and she doesn't mean any harm. Take her class, u wnt regret it.
Dr. Miranda is a terrible communicator. Be prepared to essentially teach yourself as she expects the concepts in the course to be familiar before she introduces them. She doesn't pause for questions. If you are lucky enough to slip one in, she gets loud and angry 95 % of the time. She is an awful teacher and I don't see how anyone thinks otherwise.
Dr. Miranda is very helpful and nice instructor. She prepares for her lectures and make the class very clear and vividly. Physical science 102 is kind of abstract for some students, however, she makes the class very understandable. She makes sure everyone get the information and she is very capable of motivate students.
I took Dr. Miranda for chemistry 101 and I am currently taking her for chemistry 102. She explains things very well, but if for some reason you don't understand, you can go to her office and she will do anything possible to help you understand. I really enjoy both of her classes and will miss her.
Love, love, love Dr. Miranda! She was very helpful, and made the material understandable. I was really nervous about taking Chemistry, but in the end everything turned out well. Take her!
If you are naturally good at chemistry or took an advanced class in high school take Miranda. If not take someone else. She does not like to answer questions. When she does answers questions expect a condescending tone. She knows the material but does not pass the knowledge on to students well.
Dr. Miranda is an AMAZING PROFESSOR! Her teaching style is excellent: encourages you to solve given quizzes by spirit of teamwork, explains topic step by step, reviews topic for each test, quizzes & homework are 20% of score. I made an A for chem101, registered for chem102. I wish she would like to teach Organic Chemistry
Very bearable for CHEM 101, but she made CHEM 102 an absolute nightmare. She is knowledgeable on the material, but teaches it poorly and yells and gets angry when you don't understand. She also has a bad habit of putting material on the test you've not yet gone over. If you take her make sure you buy a book. You're better off teaching yourself.
Dr. Miranda is an amazing Chem teacher and I look forward to having her as my professor next semester in Chem 102
Great professor! Very organized class structure! I knew exactly when everything was due and everything was explained well. Very knowledgeable on the subject. Gave opportunities for bonus points. Downside is her tendency to be condescending about questions in class. Altogether great and I'll be taking her 102 class next semester.
She's something else. If you're a good students she's cool with you. Be respectful, on time and attentive. Read the chapters. She usually offers bonus opportunities and all quizzes are taken with a partner, but no notes. Tests all multi choice about 25 questions and final is 40 questions.
She is a good teacher that demands respect. If you take notes and do mastering chemistry (which is bonus), then you should do well on test and quizzes. She is always willing to help those that approach her for help. I am taking her next semester for Chem 102. I recommend her!
On the first day of class, I wanted to run in the other direction screaming. I almost dropped her class after the first class. She demands respect, and comes off as mean. She is really an amazing teacher, and turns out she isn't as mean as she seems.I am taking her chem 102 class next semester.
Good teacher. She is very knowledgeable in her subject and explains material in easy to understand way. If you struggle, she is always willing to help. Attendance is required, also she gives bonus points for it. Be prepare to study hard from the beginning of the semester, and you will be OK. I am going to take next chem course with her.
I took this class because it was required for my degree, and I went into phsc 102 not knowing a thing. Dr. Miranda was a phenomenal teacher! She is very knowledgable and you can see that with each lesson she teaches. She doesn't want her students to do poorly, so she is constantly offering help to those in need of it. She genuinely cares!
Dr Miranda class is very easy going class. I will advise you to take her. She give revisions questions that covers everything in her note especially class note. Make sure you take her class note. Her class note are very important. She gives bonus points to everybody. She is the one reminding her student to see her in office for help
her class seem hard at first, but as long as you pay attention in class and review the power point before taking the test, you can get an A. You can do quiz in group, and quizes are very closed to the test.
Dr. Miranda was a great teacher! I took her Physical Science 102 lab and lecture classes this semester. She is very helpful, and wants to see her students succeed. As long as you study the book, homework, and quizzes Dr. Miranda gives in class, you will be fine.
She is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable of the material. You must come to class and do your assignments. I love the fact that Dr. Miranda is more than willing to help during her office hours!
This class will require you to TAKE GOOD NOTES & STUDY. Dr. Miranda cares about your success & is willing to help students understand & learn the material. She give lots of examples. GO TO CLASS & DO HOMEWORK(these are easy points)! Goto her ofc hrs. She is very flexible & will go the extra mile to help you if you are willing to put in the effort.
Dr Miranda was always helpful in class and during her office hours. Her teaching style is very straight-to-the-point and not confusing. But it is important to go to class and pay attention because if you miss you will get behind. Overall I enjoyed her class.
Miranda is a good teacher for chem 101, but chem 102 she would go through the material so fast ask if we understood it and when someone asked a questions she would get mad and yell "guys this is chemistry 101" ..She would also have things on the test that she didn't go over...
Dr. Miranda was a great teacher. She was very understanding of the situations we face as students and she made all efforts to help with anything we needed. I knew very little chemistry coming into the class and now I feel like I have mastered all the concepts. I would take her again if I could.
Absolutely perfect professor and do everything necessary for students success.
Loved Dr Miranda! Such an awesome person and great teacher!
Hands down best chemistry professor! If I had an issue, she always helped me resolve it. She genuinely cares about the success of her students and that is what separates her from some of my past professors. If you come to class, do your work and ask questions if needed you will definitely get an A!
she's awesome! her class is very interesting, We earn bonus points by doing group quiz. her lecture is easy to understand. love her! I would take her class again if I need another chemistry class. highly recommend her!
Dr. Miranda is by far the greatest Chemistry professor you will ever come across. Her lectures and labs are absolutely enjoyable. She will help you to succeed in her course. She provides office hours for students who needs help learning the material. Her class lectures are important to attend so do not miss any. I highly recommend Dr. Miranda.
Dr. Miranda is the jam! She knows her chemistry and doesn't mind sharing it with students. Lectures are not the time for questions though. Lectures are on schedule and outlined, so don't mess up the flow by asking a question. However, office hours are always open to students. Dr. Miranda goes out of her way to help students who ask for it.
She is really helpful to her students.!! Show up in class to take notes.!
Awesome Teacher! Make sure to review Learning Outcomes! You will Pass with a high grade. Be sure to go to her office hours, is Always there to help when needed.
Her lecturers were confusing. She taught her way to solve problems instead of using the book's way which was easier. Her tests were hard. Most of the tests' questions were the opposite of what she assigned in class. Do not ask her questions during class because she will get mad. If you have questions, come to her office and talk to her.
I had to drop the class because I had a "C" on the 1st test and a "D" on the 2nd test. Her tests were hard, and they had materials that she barely covered in class. Problem solving questions were a lot harder than the examples she worked in class. Her lectures were confusing and she got angry when people did not understand and ask questions.
Dr. Miranda is awesome. Super nice. Chem is hard for me but his lab wasnt bad. Show up and do the work( pre & post labs, and lab reports). Read the lab before class to know what your doing. Dr. Miranda covers everything you need to know in class. Show up, Write down what she writes on the board, and study her study guides. you'll do well.
Dr. Miranda is VERY helpful. She urge students to come by her office for questions pertaining to lectureshw (in which I took full advantage of). She also give quizzes often but allow you to work with a class partner so choose wisely. Exams are passable. Dr. Miranda is hilarious, which make class time enjoyable. I will definitely take her again!!
I had Dr. Miranda for Chem 101102. Hands down the best professor for Chemistry. Her class is not easy, but it is not hard. She gives 4 exams and if you do bad on one and do good on the final, she will replace it. Win win situation no matter what! Plus she gives you so much opportunities to earn extra points. Easy A, if you put in the time.
The material for this course is tough, and if you do not read the material, you will most likely fail. On another note, you get one drop test (final replaces it). If you have trouble, she will help, but you have to put in the work to get her help. The homework can be exceedingly difficult, but there are many online resources to help.
A little fast paced but a very helpful professor. Always tells us to come to office hours. Exams are a little difficult but obviously you have to study. Had trouble on titration problems but other than that it's pretty simple material. I would definitely recommend Dr. Miranda.
Dr. Miranda is a great professor. She cares for her students and makes sure that they do their work. She gives study guides before exams and works out the problems well. Make sure to come to class because she Weill give quizzes which are like easy points. Expect homework. Easy A if you just do the tasks.
Ms. Miranda is an awesome instructor. I had to take Physical Science 102 my very last semester before graduation and I was afraid because I struggle with Science, BADLY, but any help that was needed, she was there to assist me, she doesn't tolerate disrespect or cell phones under any circumstance! I passed with a B!
Dr. Miranda is an amazing instructor. I am taking her for Chem 101 and the semester is almost over. She knows the material very well. Her tests are for the most part easy. She gives out a lot of quizzes so attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. She sort of has an attitude if you don't pay attention or come in late so don't do that.
She's a sweetheart and wants you to succeed in her class. Will give you as much help as you want as long as you actually try on your part. She expects you to participate and act like an adult. She doesn't tolerate phones or blatant disrespect. I wish my major required Chem 102 just so I could take her again. Great teacher. Love her methods.
Dr. Miranda is a wonderful teacher. I enjoy science but she makes it come alive, really. She uses PowerPoints and the classes aren't that long, but expect an exit quiz on the things you learned that day. Those quizzes add up, so do your best! Dr. Miranda is helpful and wants to see her students succeed, I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
She's extraordinary. Makes the class come alive and is hilarious. She wants to see you succeed and will help you out if you just ask. She expects the same respect that you expect. Would definitely take her again.
Very helpful and thorough in lectures!
Awesome teacher; respectful, she knows a lot about the material discussed in class. hilarious.
Professor Miranda is a very good in terms of working with her students so they comprehend the materials and knowledge of the subject matter. She gives daily quizzes which are easy As so long as good notes are taken. Has an accent, but some find it only accentuates her personality. Toward the end, all admitted they respected and adored her.
I loved Dr. Miranda's class. She is very understanding. I forgot to do a part on my motivation protocol (which is very important btw) and she let me turn it in late. Plus on finals week, she reopened the hw because i emailed her asking if she can and explained my situation. Would definitely recommend her. She is awesome!!!!!
Dr. Miranda is by far the best chemistry teacher you could ever have. if you're not doing well in class or you're having trouble understanding she'll make sure of it that you visit her in her office hours to help you pass her class. she refuses for anyone to fail. She makes learning chemistry a lot more easier.
Loves dr miranda. She always ready to help her students. She cares about her students. As long as you show up in class you will get easy A.
Dr. Miranda, just like you, has academic-related strengths and weaknesses. Her two greatest strengths are her open door policy and her motivational protocols. Her greatest academic-related weakness is that she is passionate about chemistry - and for anyone who is passionate about anything, they often don't understand why it is hard for others.
I took Dr. Miranda for Chemistry Lecture as well as lab. There are ___ key things to know. You will be required to turn in a hand-written lab report every class. Each with it's own pre-lab questionnaire that is due at beginning of class. There is also a post-lab for each paper. Make all your English teachers proud and you will pass. **2 test! :)
Dr. Miranda is an excellent professor! She goes above and beyond for her students especially if you ask for help. This is a hard course and you have to be willing to put it the work, but she explains the material very well. I would definitely take her for another course and would recommend her to anyone!
If you like chemistry take her class. If you don't, take it anyway. She is very clear, her classes are short and entertaining and she will always make time for you if you need help.
Tough teacher
very very easy class - I got an A. Need help ? Just ask her She will be very kind to help you.
Professor Miranda is nice and inspiring. Though there are many quizzes, it's good way to know what we study each lesson. Lessons are short and clear, focus on main points.
Dr. Miranda is an excellent teacher! You can tell she has a passion for chemistry by sitting in her lectures. She does a great job of discussing & breaking down the topics by giving you daily learning outcomes, and also encourages students to come by her office to go over things if necessary. If you enjoy chemistry, Dr. Miranda is the best choice!
Chem 101 is not an easy class. Miranda's class is very doable. Show up to class, put in the work, participate, stay off phone, don't eat/ drink in class and you will pass most likely with a high grade. If you dont understand the material, GO TO HER OFFICE!! She will help in any way she can, but you have to put forth the effort.
Dr. Miranda made learning chemistry a fun experience. She's great at simplifying what seems very difficult and makes the material understandable. She's very knowledgable of the subject and she teaches it well.
TOUGH GRADER. KNOW THE MATERIAL BEFORE YOU GET TO CLASS BECAUSE SHE DOESNT EXPLAIN WELL AT ALL AND SHE SAYS THAT HER CLASS IS REVEIW FROM WHAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO READ BEFORE YOU CAME. TEST ARENT LIKE STUDY GUIDE. DO NOT BRING ANYTHING TO DRINK, DO NOT CHECK YOUR PHONE, AND DO NOT TALK IN HER CLASS. BASICALLY, DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU DONT HAVE TO.
Dr. Miranda is an AMAZING professor. I recommend any student, if you get the chance, to take Dr. Miranda. She's funny and extremely helpful in making sure you understand the material. Dr. Miranda is a LOVABLE teacher you'll instantly connect with. She knows how to become the light of the class and she is definitely worth taking! :)
She covers material in an organized manner in her class and teaches strategy for material so that you can succeed. She is very accessible during her office hours and encourages coming to office hours. She has taken the time to do two non-office hours review sessions to help with exams this semester. I plan on taking her 102 class if available.
As far as teaching goes she's fine. But she doesn't teach, she yells. If you don't know the answer to a question she acts like you're an idiot. There's a decent amount of homework and you take a quiz every day. At the end of the semester she also gives you bonus percentage points if you were a good student.
She gives you countless opportunities to help you succeed. Very enthusiastic in lectures and there is never a dull moment. I would recommend her to anyone. Couldn't have chose a better professor.
I have always been terrible at chemistry, but she makes it a lot easier to understand. She's great at teaching just be sure to pay attention and if you have any questions ask because she will help you understand.
This is not an easy course, but I love Dr. Miranda. She nice, funny, and care for her students. She doesn't go through every single details but rather focus on the main points. She also gives reviews and pretests before exam
Professor Miranda is one of my favorite chemistry teachers now. Spend as much time as you need with her in her office and she will solve your problems and misunderstandings. She is compassionate, caring, and upbeat. Where I struggled I just let her know and she did many things to help me make the best grades possible. I will take her for chemistry2
I have never done well with Chemistry, until I took Dr Miranda's 101 class. She provides every opportunity for you to be successful in her class. Reviews, office hours, and study guides so that you can be successful. You still have to make the effort in the class, but she gives help to the people who are wanting it. Great Professor!!!
Although you have to work hard for the grades, you are guaranteed to know the material required in future chemistry courses. She's very helpful in getting students to understand the material and will spend extra time on concepts that are giving students problems. All around, she is very invested in ensuring her students are proficient in chemistry
She was strict during class, but it made the lecture flow well and created an environment of learning. She taught very well and I learned a lot during the class.
What makes her the best chemistry professor is her ability to teach complex material in a way that a 4th grader can understand. If you don't understand how to do the material Dr. Miranda will take her time to show you how to retain the information. She gives you a study guide for each exam to show you what you need to work on.
Why Dr. Miranda is the best chemistry teacher: -Truly caring -Easily approachable -Wants her students to score well -Provides chances to score extra credit (which is a grade booster!) -Gives pretests and conducts reviews which are of immense use! -Tells us what is expected of us in the course syllabus -very organized -She's awesome!
Mrs Divina is one of the best teachers i have ever had. she always does her best to help her students pass especially the ones who are struggling. she does whatever she can to give her aide to her students. i would always recommend her to other students.
She was a great teacher but she does not hand out free grades. She has good lectures with plenty of notes to study. If you do the work and study you will have a great year with a great teacher.
Dr. Miranda is truly one of the best educators that I have had to date. If you put forth the effort she is more than willing to meet you half way. Take advantage of her office hours, her one on one teaching style and her understanding of the material will clear up any confusion you may have. Take advantage of any out if class reviews she gives!
Love Dr. Miranda ! Always made the class very interesting & willing to help if you did not understand the material. Definitely would recommend her to anyone taking chemistry
Dr. Miranda is such an amazing teacher! Her lectures are awesome and she is very willing to work with her students. She gives students plenty of opportunities to get bonus pints and points to help their grade go up. Students must go to class to pass, unless you are a genius. I highly recommend taking her!
Dr Miranda is awesome. Many people might think shes this n that but, if you are really trying to learn then she will definitely help you. She is STRICT but, its for your own well being. Just go to class, take notes, learn the material and you will be ok. Dont need to buy the book because everything you need will be given to you in class.
She's a great teacher
Great professor! Course was not too difficult. If you pay attention in class you should do well in the course. Quizzes every so often and homework that really prepares you for the test.
Overall great teacher, I wish she had more time to slow down and explain certain things in a little better detail as sometimes they are glossed over. However, there is a lot of material in the course so it is understandable that she had to move at the rate she did. I'm glad I chose to take her class!
Dr. Miranda is a great professor. She makes sure you understand the lesson and if you have any questions you are able to meet with her during her office hours. I had taken Chemistry before with a different professor and I struggled a lot. Although I did struggle she made it so much easier for me to learn the material.
Dr. Miranda helps student to success academically. She gives reward to someone who is working hard and persevering towards getting higher grade.
Dr. Miranda is helpful anytime. Go to her Office and she will answer all your question .
Dr. Miranda is a great Professor. She wanted students to be success, so if needs to meet with her during her office hours regarding the lecture you struggling about, she's eager to help out. I definitely take her again.
Dr. Miranda teaches you that you have to put in the work but if you do exactly what she says to do, theres no reason not to get an A. The people who failed were the ones not listening. She sets you up to actually understand and enjoy the material. 10/10 I will be taking her for chem 2
the first portion of this class is straight math so get ready for that lots of reading I took it online so we had power points to read and the book chapter it was a summer class so it was jammed pack no break discussion boards quizzes and homework best to get help face to face because she does not he!P through email good luck the struggle was real
Dr. Miranda is by far one of the best professors I have taken. She is knowledgeable of the subject and experiments. She gives quizzes ever week, and you will have lab reports for each experiment. The grading scale is clear. There are 2 exams, which are kinda difficult just be prepared. Attendance and being on time is VITAL! She is here to help you.
She explained everything really well and in great detail. If you study, you will make an A. Dr. Miranda is the best chemistry teacher to take at brcc I believe. However she speaks really loud so try not to take the morning class. Get the textbook if you want extra information.
Dr. Miranda is my favorite chemistry teacher at BRCC, she's very approachable and clear with the course criteria that you will be tested on. However, she doesn't have a lot of patience for disrespect, laziness, or people that don't follow instructions, so don't be that student and you will be fine.
Ms, Miranda is amazing professor, she explains everything in detail and gives pretest before each exam, I highly recommend her and I will take her again
she is a good teacher
Took this class for my major and the test and quizzes are not difficult but professor is very rude. She post study guides for the test but you have to locate the answers yourself unknowing if they are correct. Email her and will receive attitude back and she talks to you like youre a 1st grader. I do not recommend this teacher due to disrespectful
Dr. Miranda is a firecracker. She is a great teacher and is incredibly knowledgeable about chemistry. She sometimes can come off a little brash but she has great intentions! She really makes you work for your grade but she is behind you trying to help you along. Make sure you try to visit her during her office hours! It will help you!
She is good teacher, the major criteria in this class is to follow her power points. Tests will be easy if you do the pretest, quizzes, and online homework. Make a habit of doing chem everyday.
Dr. Miranda is a caring professor. She is tough but she is smart and intelligent. She offers countless opportunities to understand the material. If you take the quizzes, homework, and practice material seriously you will pass the class. Dr. Miranda is a great professor.
Everybody that needs physical science 1033, take Dr. Miranda I took her online this semester 2019, see is caring and helpful she replies to emails in a timely manner, do the work and she will help you she is the BEST, BRCC needs more caring professors like Dr. Miranda. I am happy I was able to take her online class, study and you will PASS !
Dr. Miranda is not the best professor but she isn't the worst. She knows what she teaches but the way she teaches can confuse you. I recommend using her office hours. I also feel she rushes and her test are not accurate with what she says it will be. She does give a few extra credit opportunities though.
Take her class today or you wont have any spots left. Highly-recommended professor !!
She is a good professor and also cares for her students grades. She approaches student to turn in what he or she missed, so that it would not affect overall grade weight by the end of semester. She encourages students to study well and perform well in class as well as exams.
WOW! Mrs. Miranda is one of the best teachers I have ever had, but best one in Chemistry. She is very passionate about her career. The lectures are understandable, she cares about you individually, and appreciates participation. If you go the extra mile, so will she. Do all the homework, work out pre-tests till you understand, go to office hours!
Dr. Miranda was a great professor. Would definitely take again. Coming from not understanding chemistry, I have passed with an A and wouldnt have been able to do it without her. Go to office hours, do homework. Gives bonus on every test. Available outside of class. Very understanding. 10/10
Someone recommended Miranda to me. Honestly, she knows the material, but she does not know how to talk to her students. I wish someone would have told me before I wasted my money and enrolled in her class. She is a good teacher, but if you have feelings and dont want to be embarrassed for not know the material, take another Professor!
Dr Miranda made my two semesters at BRCC some of the most valuable learning experiences ive had in chemistry. Not only has she helped me understand some of the most complex concepts in chem II but she has also been there as a professor who, outside of class, will help you fully understand anything she teaches if you put fourth the effort to do so.
Her teaching method is to the point. If you show up in class, you'll understand the material faster and easier. It helps if you review your notes before the next class because she does give out pop quizzes. Make sure you understand the material before leaving class; if needed asker her during or end of class, she will gladly help you out.
Dr. Miranda is really good at breaking Chem II down. She will challenge you to think. She is tough on you because she has high expectations for you. You need to go to her office if you don't understand and she will help you. You must work hard in this course. She is the best Chem II professor at BRCC and a very cool person when you get to know her.
My favorite professor! She has plenty of office hours and is willing to help in anyway. She gives great lectures with everything you need to know for exams BUT you have to study on your own time. You will not pass if you dont go to lecture prepared or study. She gives pretest and quizzes to help prepare you for the exams and they are so helpful!
Expectations and Material is laid out very clearly, no problem understanding anything. I didnt even have to use the book with how much was provided. Very helpful professor
Dr. Miranda is a good teacher. If you can show her you willing to learn, She will do anything to help you and give you an extra bonus on your hard work. She has a tremendous amount of knowledge. If you want to study chemistry, you should take her classes.
The class wasn't hard, the assignments were a little off putting but overall I learned a lot. I wouldn't rush to get the book; her powerpoints give you all the information you need for tests. Gives study guide for all tests also but I will say she is pretty rude and blunt. Make sure you're in a good mood before reaching out
Dr. Miranda is hardcore but she is an awesome professor. She won't put up with your *&^%, so if you're not going to take this class seriously don't take her. Meet her in her office!!! She will do what she can to help you if you are putting in the effort. She made chemistry understandable and bearable.
Dr Miranda is definitely misunderstood. She is blunt and to the point which most see as rude. Maybe its a cultural thing? But, she teaches exactly what is needed for test and she is great at explaining it. She is also there if you need additional help. You must attend class and study or you will fail. Chem isnt an easy subject to begin with.
Dr. Miranda truly wants her students to succeed. If you are struggling, see her in her office hours and she will go through great lengths to help you pass! She makes chem bearable and always keeps her lectures interesting. I highly recommend her to anyone who is serious about learning chemistry, you'll leave her class more knowledgeable for sure.
This professor is excellent at simplifying complex topics.
Shes very helpful when she sees your trying. Shes very organized! She will give extra points if you complete things early.
Spring 2020 semester was rough due to Covid-19, but Dr. Miranda handled the transition to online class very well. She's prepared, knowledgeable about chemistry, and available outside class time. She responds to emails quickly. She gives thorough lectures and exam reviews. Must attend class. She grades tough, but gives rubric of what's expected.
Dr. Miranda is an amazing professor. Your participation and feedback counts in order to pass. Her grading rubric is very specific and straight to the point. Shes an amazing professor and I love the way she teaches and gives us time to complete assignments. I would take her again.
Dr. Miranda is so helpful and supportive! I took her online class at SU, and I truly loved it. If I had problems understanding the subject she would email back right away with assistance. She has very fair grading criteria. If you have the choice, I definitely recommend choosing her as your professor for this class!
Dr. Miranda is fantastic at teaching concepts, however, on multiple occasions she would show up to class in a horrible mood and take it out on students. Several of my classmates agreed that they felt reluctant to ask questions due to her tendency to shame students. I would think long and hard about this professor if you do not tolerate disrespect.
Honestly, Dr. Miranda is a very good and caring teacher. She explains things very well, and lab reports are graded fairly and they are straight forward. Any questions you have, she is very responsive and answers them very quickly. This lab class was better than others. I had an 88.45% at the end, with the curve on the final I can end up with an A!!
Shes very caring and a cool professor. She curve exam for the whole class percentage. She give good feedback when u have any question or concern.
I took her Chem class fall 20 and she excellent professor. The class was online but she still did zoom meetings where she would review each chapter. She also gives a study guide for each exam which is multiple choice questions you can practice that comes with an answer key.
She was rude to multiple students. You are only able to take test at a certain time that is inconvenient to most. If you have an issue with the test get ready to figure it out on your own and you will not get extra time for the time you missed or a chance to retake the test.
I took this class over the summer. Chemistry is a very difficult subject in general. Anytime I reached out to Professor Miranda, she was more than willing to help me. She answered her e-mails quickly. She also provided us with a HUGE extra credit opportunity at the end of the semester. I learned so much in her class. I would definitely recommend!
Professor Miranda was great all around. She provides you with the necessary information and explains it very well. Homework and tests are very fair. She responds to your questions in a timely manner and will help you out as much as she can. Her Zoom sessions were very informational, and this is where she explained the material.
She doesn't actually teach the material, just has you do it all on your own in the book. Will take 50% off your grade on a discussion post because you posted your original post and a peer reply on the same day. I considered cancelling my wifi service just so I could keep from interacting with her again. 0/10, do not recommend.
Chemistry 2 is not easy, so if you put in more time than you think you will need and utilize Dr. Miranda's study guides and in person lectures you will pass. Although Dr. Miranda's attitude is not for everyone (and is the reason why I personally won't take her again) she still cares deeply about each student passing and learning from her class.
Very harsh grading. Everything you do is on Smartwork ($80), & she does not lecture at all. This class is completely self taught. Any questions have to wait for her "office hours" that she only holds Monday 1-2pm. If you do ask a question she belittles you and always has an attitude towards students that ask questions. 0/10 recommend
She refused to answer questions through messages and your grades are not based on your work compared to a rubric but instead in comparison to other classes. She went back on her syllabus and would not schedule one-on-one meetings. Dodges questions you ask. Will grade poorly if you question her. Poor attitude/rude. Avoid at all costs if possible.
Unprofessional and rude! Communication with her is like communicating with a lion. Barely helps her students and gets upset when you ask anything. Avoid taking at all costs.
Dr. Miranda is a dedicated and caring instructor who is truly interested in the success of her students. CHEM 1123 is not an easy course. She has scheduled weekly office hours to assist her students with any questions or concerns, recorded lectures, and answers emails in a timely manner. You will be rewarded for the work you put in. Recommend 10/10
WORST TEACHER I HAD IN MY 2 YEARS AT BRCC. All the bad comments you are seeing, do not pass them up like i did because they are all true. I am limited to words so i will describe how she taught, graded, and treated her students in my Chem 1 class. (also she gave me an F in the class for getting ahead) Rude, Impatient, Lazy, Belittle, Ridiculous
She is an excellent teacher. She is one of my best teachers. Her teaching methods are great. Easy and effective.she always lectures with the intent to help us to understand the materials. She is always very helpful to students.
She is extremely rude and I believe she writes great reviews of herself on here. No one likes her. Her way of teaching is giving students a higher course than what she is originally supposed to teach. For example if you take her for chemistry 1 be prepared to take chemistry 3 because she doesn't abide by the proper teaching guidelines.
I would not recommend anyone to take her class. She is extremely rude and very difficult to understand. Her syllabus must be read thoroughly. She is a a very hard grader. The comments and/or suggesting that her class is a good class etc have to be fake.
I dropped this class, but Dr. Miranda is an awesome professor! She is blunt, but also VERY sweet. Chemistry is a hard class, she will tell you that. Be ready to study everyday, attend tutoring and her office hours as needed. She does go fast because there's so much to cover in such a short time. She is willing to help! Lose points missing class.
I dropped this class, but Dr. Miranda is an awesome professor! She is blunt, but also VERY sweet. Chemistry is a hard class, she will tell you that. Be ready to study daily, attend tutoring and her office hours if needed. DO NOT miss class will lose points. Give end of class quizzes. She teach really fast there's so much to cover in a short time.
Dr Miranda is very passionate about Chemistry & which is a great thing.. She wants you to understand & if not ask questions.. Chemistry is a tough course so you do have to read outside of class or she will help you if not in class but during office hours.. She does give bonus points per syllabus and does help you if you missed an assignment.
Dr. Miranda is direct, honest and knowledgeable. I truly enjoyed learning about chemistry under her direction. She was able to breakdown the material in such a way that I understood it. She had an open door policy with problems and concerns. She is caring and wants to see students succeed. Thank you Dr. Miranda!!!! You are awesome!!!!
Gave me a 0 on my first proctored exam for cheating even though I never cheated. I immediately withdrew from the class and lost over $700 for the class since she does not allow for retakes. She needs to be able to see into your soul during the proctored exams for them to count. Also hard to understand sometimes in lecture.
Amazing professor! Dr. Miranda helped me understand the basics of Chemistry. Attendance and participation are key to success in her class. Make sure to read the syllabus, it maps out the whole semester to prepare for exams and homework. Make sure to use her office hours/zoom meetings to ask for help, clarification, and questions!
She requires to many extra requirements to take exams !!!! Like you might as well not even do online courses!!!
Rude the many times I emailed her professionally. No understanding that life happens; I got sick week of the final, had a bad stomach bug when final was held on Zoom, sent documentation of my sickness, and she told me my only option was to travel to BR to make up the following day. Was sick during the makeup and she failed me with no consideration.
For online class she is extreme with the camera view for the test. She expects you to buy extra camera to show the entire desk, arms, and everything around you or else you won't pass. That is just one of many bad things about her.
Dr. Miranda's class is challenging, but rewarding. Attendance and active participation are crucial. The syllabus is comprehensive, and using unstuck study alongside the textbook can help with exam prep. Overall, a great professor who wants students to succeed.
Strangely, I'm enrolled 2x's BRCC is working on it. My D- is currently a B+ Failed my 1st exam. Didn't study. If you're looking to be coddled, She isn't for you. Direct and to the point. Good feedback. READ THE SYLLABUS. Can be time-consuming. The camera set up for the test was the most difficult... so far.
Worst professor I've had ever. She's rude, dismissive, and completely lacks empathy. I expressed anxiety about the test and was told I'd get a zero if I looked around even though I was just thinking. She brushed off my concerns. Do not take her, especially not online.
She literally will fail you if she assumes you're cheating on your lockdown browser. When I asked her for the video of me taking the test all of a sudden it won't send .she told me my eyes were going back and forth across the screen and idk how else I'm supposed to read the questions. 0/10
Dr. Miranda is very rude and dismissive to her students. Her required camera setup's for exams are very unnecessary and cause so much unnecessary stress while taking her exams. I would not recommend her to take.
I have never dropped a class so fast! This professor is ridiculous! Do not take her, I can't stress this enough.
