Loved him! Very quiz heavy but the quizzes are online and easy. Very funny and caring. He has his lectures on youtube. He just reviews them in class.

I loved Dr. Zanzot! It was a flipped classroom, so be prepared to spend a lot of time taking notes on the videos. Lectures were not super helpful, but he is a really funny guy so I didn't mind going. He also gives a lot of bonus points and some extra credit which boosts your grade a lot. He is probably the best bio professor at Auburn. Take him!!!!

this is a flipped classroom and his lectures are pretty pointless. exams can be pretty difficult and you need to study ALOT for them, but if you do all the homework you should be able to get a good grade. he offers alot of extra credit and will round very generously but only if you do all or most of the the homework (all the answers are on quizlet)

I absolutely love Dr. Zanzot. As with any professor, he has his downfalls such as not responding to emails, but overall I would 10/10 recommend his class. I would take every class he offered if I could. BIOL 1020 was rough, but I love BIOL 1030. Take him if you can!

Took him for BIOL 1037 (wouldn't let me create a new class) Dr. Zanzot's class was flipped but it worked well for this class. The tests were pretty straightforward and you can tell that he enjoys teaching this subject. I really enjoyed his class and the activities we did in class really helped me understand the material better.

I've alway hated bio, but I loved Zanzot and the class. The flipped lecture works great - you learn it alone first, and in class, he goes over the info and he delivers it in really funny ways that you'll remember. 1027(honors) isn't harder so highly recommend it if you have the option. Tests are hard but don't impact your grade too much(~25%).

He was one of my fav professors. it is a flipped classroom so you HAVE to watch his online lectures. His exams are really difficult most of the averages were around a 60. He is really sweet and cares so much about his students and will help you with if you go to his office hours. I studied for hours on end and never got above a B on his exams.

Flipped classroom, you go to class he does a Kahoot and talks about stuff from his videos, you learn completely with videos outside of class. This class takes a LOT of work to be successful, his tests are difficult, but his videos are helpful. Overall, he's very nice and funny but just put in the effort and be prepared to study a lot to succeed.

Took him for BIOL 1027, compared to AP bio it was a decent class. Difficult sometimes but very doable and Dr. Zanzot is very accessible for specific questions. The classroom is flipped which means you do a lot of outside work, but I actually enjoyed it because I could take notes at my own pace. Study the learning objectives and you'll be fine!

Dr. Zanzot was a very interesting professor, but I learned a lot in the class throughout the year. The tests are very difficult, as the wording of the questions is tricky but once you learn his question style, it is easier to study for the exams. There's a group project in BIOL1027 that boosts your grade at the end of the year and is fairly simple.

He is so funny and caring! His exams are pretty difficult and take hours of studying. I made a D/F on every exam and still ended with a B in the class. Gives you extra credit to help boost your grade as well. All he does in class is Kahoots, which he posts before the exam. Funny guy and seems to be the best BIOL1020 professor from what I've heard.

There is a learning curve to his class because it is a flipped classroom, so you really have to take notes and learn the content in his lecture videos to be successful. Luckily tests don't make up a huge portion of your grade and there is plenty of extra credit. If you want to succeed in this class, you will succeed! His office hours are great too.

Not difficult, especially if you show up to class (which is non-mandatory). A large part of your grade comes from quizzes, which are very easy to get full credit for. The tests aren't that bad, but sometimes it is a bit confusing on what to study. Lots of bonus points. The only thing I did not like was that it was a flipped-classroom. Funny prof.

If you are a flipped classroom learner, Zanzot is perfect. Class can be useful but most of the time you'll do a kahoot or talk about tigers or the weight of clouds for the whole class. He's full of stories though and will not be a bore. Don't take the class if you aren't going to watch the videos and take notes.

Great professor! So much bonus and he wants you to be better. Such a good person and will remember you by name. Gives so much bonus and the tests are fair but can be difficult if you don't study. Its a flipped classroom and the videos take forever but its worth it in the end. The bonus helps you out so much its like a 3.5 scale at the end.

Zanzot was a pretty good teacher. The exams seemed to have a pretty low average but there was so much homework and extra credit that the exams did not affect my grade much. This class is a flipped class so learning the material outside of class can be hard, but there are always reviews in the class and lots of Kahoots. You should take him!

BIOL 1030: Dr.Zanzot is one of the best professors i've ever had! He is super engaging and explains the concepts thoroughly through drawings, videos, and kahoots. I can't recommend him enough. There is a bit of work due outside of class such as quizzes based on lectures he posts on YouTube but they really don't take that long.

Dr. Zanzot is by far one of the best professors I've had! He's really passionate about what he's teaching and makes the more complicated topics (like photosynthesis and cellular respiration) super easy to understand. He does a flipped classroom, which can take some getting used to and requires a lot of time outside of class.

I actually had him for organismal biology (BIOL 1030). He is a super funny teacher- often does kahoots in class along with drawings and diagrams. The only thing I disliked is the fact that it is a flipped classroom which requires a lot of work outside the classroom. There are also lots of quizzes- usually due before each class.

He is a hilarious professor, always makes class enjoyable. The class is very hard, but that's just the class. Flipped classroom, most classes are just drawings that replace a test at the end of the semester, so go to class. Tests are hard, but if you do all the assignments, you'll do at least okay. Study well, and this class is awesome.

Very caring and considerate of what is going on outside of class. Is willing to work with you to make sure you understand the material. His class is a reverse lecture style course so if you cannot learn that way do not take this course. there are preclass quizzes for every class and he reviews hard-to-understand material during class time.

Dr. Zanzot doesn't respond to emails, but is a great teacher. We have a term group project which is stressful, but overall this class is so easy. I don't know a singe person in my class who didn't get an A. I literally failed two exams and still got an A. So much extra credit and the pre class quizzes are easy. Come to class for notes. He's great.

Dr. Zanzot was very funny and entertaining during his lectures. There are so many opportunities for points throughout the class. The material of the course is basically memorization which he makes a little easier with visuals throughout the class. Overall, very do-able and not too hard of a class.

Dr. Zanzot is an excellent biology professor. This class can be very uninteresting to many STEM majors as most of his students are not very interested in organismal biology but nonetheless he creates an interesting environment in his classroom. Grading criteria unclear but it is difficult to do poorly in this class with reasonable effort put in.

Funny guy. All you do in class is optional drawings which count toward an extra credit assignment at the end of the semester. His tests are hard but I never made over a 75 and ended the class with a 89.8. He rounded my grade up to a A because I did all the extra credit and showed I cared. I would definitely take him again if I could.

This class is a flipped classroom, which means it's on you to watch the lecture videos at home. I enjoyed it because it allowed me to rewind if something was confusing. In class, we reinforced the concepts learned through Kahoot and other interactive platforms. Zanzot is hilarious and offers extra credit. You can succeed if you put in the work.

I took AP Bio prior to taking this class, so I already had a good understanding of this level of biology. Zanzot really made me laugh, and I enjoyed his teaching style via YouTube, although if you're like me and take loads of notes it does take a while to get through the videos so I would start watching them early. At least a video or two a day.

Zanzot's class is hard, but as long as you can handle the flipped class by watching the videos and taking notes off of them you'll be fine!

Dr Zanzot's class is a flipped classroom which I enjoy but its not for everyone. after every lecture, there is a quiz after every lecture that serves for "homework" and the only other grades are exams. In class, he usually will do a kahoot or draw out processes, so its not necessary to attend unless you feel like you are struggling with a topic

he is such a funny guy who knows a lot about biology, keeps a good atmosphere, and seems to genuinely enjoy what he teaches. prepare to take a lot of kahoots. there are 3-4 big exams that can be really difficult if you don't study, but if you put in effort and try to learn, you will do just fine

Amazing teacher who genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I had him for 1020 and 1030 and wish I could take him again! He is very accessible outside of class, and just wants to build relationships with students so that they learn and succeed in later science classes. Definitely hard, so put in the work and you will succeed.

This class has pre-recorded lectures online so you can pace yourself. There is a short quiz after every chapter that you have 2 attempts on. These quizzes are usually pretty easy and helpful to study for the exams. The classes contain drawings or Kahoots that help you understand the material. Very funny and helpful and the tests are not too hard.

Dr. Zanzot's class has been one of my favorites I have taken. It is a flip style class and there is a lot of video content but the work and exams are straightforward. He does not really respond to emails, however he will answer questions you have at office hours or in class. He often plays games like kahoot in class. Definitely take him!

Dr Zanzot is amazing and is a great professor. His lectures are posted on Youtube, so attendance is not mandatory; we only played Kahoot in class. The exams are fair if you study a week before the exam. I never go to his class except for exam day and still made a 97 overall w/o extra credit in the class. I did not take AP Bio in high school.

flipped classroom, which works for some people, it was definetly an adjustment. Having the lectures on youtube was nice, but spent so much time taking notes, though it was clear what would be on the exam, i felt there was always a twist on the exams. great professor though and lots of extra credit

Zanzot is a great teacher who loves his subject! Flipped classroom meant lectures and quizzes as HW, then kahoots in class. Tests are a lot of info but he gives clear expectations of what to study. Group project was structured so we weren't scrambling to finish it. Emailed him twice and he responded fast. Rounded my 89.7 up to an A when asked!

Good professor, but difficult class. Didn't love the flipped class, but was manageable. In class, we didn't do much besides discuss what was covered in video lectures and play kahoots. Would recommend doing extra credit assignments. Material gets progressively more difficult, so you will need to study a lot to understand it and do well on exams.

Dr. Zanzot is an all around amazing professor! He truly cares about his students and is very open to meeting one on one. His class is flipped so be prepared to prepare before class. His tests are very difficult, I have never made about an 80 on one but he offers a ton of other point opportunities. I have take 2 classes with him and love it!

Gives out tiny plastic dinosaurs and has class kahoot games. 10/10. Exams aren't difficult so long as you study the information he gives you, and all his lecture content is recorded. He's very funny and makes class enjoyable, although he does do a mostly flipped-classroom approach, which some people tend not to like.

Dr. Zanzot was a really cool professor! I would definitely recommend taking his class, but I really struggled with the flipped classroom thing. Also BIOL 1037 was a TON of memorization and homework and test questions were pretty specific but at least it was interesting.

Dr. Zanzot is personable, flipped classroom style, which def isn't for everyone, tests are difficult, I have always been good at science, and have had a a difficult time with his tests, so i currently have a high B. plan on studying a bunch. Reverse classroom setup isn't for everyone. You watch lecture videos for homework and in class you do drawings of different organisms. As long as you show up to class and study a bit for each exam you should be fine. Dr. Zanzot is hilarious and you can tell he really cares about his students.

I dont mind flipped class so I was good, this class is just alot of memorization of material, not hard just tedious. plus i literally failed both lab practicals and one exam and still got an A. Just lock in for the group project and the final and youll be fine.

As long as you attend class, follow along with his drawings, keep up with the sketchbook, and study for the exams, you'll be fine. He's a great professor — really funny and clearly cares about his students. The videos are okay, but the in-person lectures are much better and more helpful.

This is a REVERSED lecture class meaning lectures are watched outside of class and in class you draw diagrams and notes and you can turn the sketchbook in to replace your lowest exam score. I really enjoyed his class and never felt the need to worry about my grade but the time schedule would be a bit hard sometimes. Still had a 95.

Flipped classroom. You take notes outside of class and either draw or do kahoots in-class. Drawings consists of organisms, life cycles, and phylogenetic trees. At the end of the year you turn in a sketchbook to replace your lowest test grade. Easy A or B as long as you keep up with the notes and quizzes. You get toy dinosaurs for participation.

Zanzot is one of the best teachers I have had at Auburn. He cares a lot about his class and his students and asks us for input. this is the first time hes taught this course so he was a little new to the information but presented it in a way that was super helpful to understand. His quizzes boosted your grade so much and tests were light.

best professor ever, love him so much, attendance isnt required but its better to go to lectures, tests are pretty easy if you study and pay attention. quizzes are heavy and boosts your grade instead of just being exam heavy. hes caring and sweet :)

He is very interesting to listen to. I took him for BIOL 1030 too. He does a good job of hinting at what to expect on the test and genuinely wants you to succeed. Attendance is not mandatory, but I definitely think it helps to show up. Would definitely take him if you can!

Took Bio 1027 with Zanzot and he is a really great professor. Flipped class can be difficult for some students but if you keep up with the videos and study you will be okay. Bonus Project for the class to bring up your grade. I don't know if he drops the lowest exam grade. Lab is included as well and is easy as well. Take him.

Dr. Zanzot is a super sweet guy. His class is "reverse classroom" so you have to watch lectures on your own time. As a freshman, this took a little adjusting but is VERY MANAGEABLE. I feel like I've gotten a good foundation in biology from his class.

If flipped classes work for you, then Zanzot is perfect for you! He assigns lecture videos to watch outside of class and reviews topics in class. His videos can be very long and full of jargon, but it helps to get a thorough understanding of the content. He is very clear about what will be on the exams and is willing to answer questions.

Beast. Love this guy and his class, was super chill for micro since he was filling in for another professor but is not a class he usually teaches. If offered definitely take him, he is super funny and the class is very fair with tests and work.

He is the best!! Micro was easy with him. Exams were basically the quizzes. If you just memorize what he tells you to in class...you're good to go for an A!
