Excellent!!!! Very helpful. She really cares about her students and making sure they understand. If I can take her for all my math classes I would. Highly recommend her for anyone that is not good with math or even if they are!!! Wonderful teacher can not say enough good about her
Even though I did not do well in her class, DMarie is a great teacher. Homework is not required - grading is based almost entirely on exams, the final, and a handful of in class assignments. The exams are not easy, but she does a review before all exams. Great teacher - you'll learn a lot.
Wonderful!! I hate math and have a hard time with math. Ms. Carver is great and easy to understand. Great since of humor and makes class fun. I recommend her to everyone.
I took her for MTH212/213. Go to all classes, participate, stay organized and do all the work! DMarie is a fantastic, passionate, veteran teacher that takes her role seriously about prepping future elementary school teachers to teach very important fundamental foundational math concepts. Great class and fabulous teacher!
She is a great techer. I took her in MTH 20,60,65 and was completely happy. Believes that everyone is adults and that if you want a good grade it is up to you to come to class and do the optional homework. Is willing to take the time to help you understand the subject. I would highly recommend her!
Does not grade homework, but does go over it in class. This was very helpful. She explains very well and carefully and class involvement is required. She answers questions on the board and seems to genuinely care about our understanding of the material. If she were teaching my next class I would choose her again.
Carver is one of the best Math teachers I have ever come across. She explains very clearly, she will stop and help without attitude. She is a bit strict with her class, you get points deducted for your cell phone ringing, or when you're talking while she's teaching, she will stop & call you out in front of everyone & tell you to leave. I loved her
dMarie really makes Math clear, which is hard to do. And if someone is not getting it, she will explain it in different ways until they do, without making them feel stupid. She really enjoys Math and makes it fun. I can't say enough good things about her - she actually made Math my favorite class.
Highly experienced, one of the authentic best old-school teachers. Energetic, smart, tough and honest.
She is an amazing professor! She really puts in the effort to make sure her students actually learn the material and don't just memorize it. She does not grade HW, but she knows if you've done it or not, so do it!! Would take her again! Amazing!
i loved this class! D Marie made math very easy for me to understand, and i found myself wanting to go to class! take her class, you'll love it!
I had D. Marie for 20, 60, & 65. She is amazing. I didn't like math, she taught me to love it! She teaches everything clearly, and now being in 111B she set me up perfectly for everything. She is wise! Go to class, pay attention, and do the homework that isn't mandatory, she assigns it for a reason. Best professor at PCC. Very sarcastic and awesome
I doubled up on 212 and 213 in the same term after taking her for 211. I wanted to make sure I got her for the whole series. She is the best teacher I have ever had. She is strict and the work pushes you, but she will explain it until you get it. She is crystal clear on everything expected especially on tests. She is the greatest teacher!
I just started taking her class this was my first week and it's a 4 week summer class, and I love her already! she is amazing. She really knows how to explain and does not make anyone feel stupid. She is one of the best teachers I've had so far. If you really want to learn and understand math this is the teacher for you!
Clear, straight to the point teacher. Easy to talk too, but can get grumpy sometimes. Just go to class and do the work and you're guarenteed atleast a B.
Carver is a great teacher. Attendance is important but she makes math fun. She really cares about the students and her office hours are usually in the tutor lab. I am not the best at math and I got all A*s in her classes math 211 212 and 213. If you try hard and do the hw every day you will do good. Hw is graded on completion
She has a good sense of humor.Tells you in 1st class this will be a very time consuming and difficult class. As long as you actually attend all classes, participate and do the assignments you will do well. Excellent organization. Emails you the syllabus b4 the first class. Awesome organized professor! I'd take her again for any math class
DMarie is Legit with a captial L. She is honest, down-to-earth, and dosn't BS around. She is a VERY fair grader, and provides tutoring on her free time. She's a keeper!
DMarie is incredibly helpful. I've only had 1 other teacher who really helped me understand math and get an A..DMarie's the 2nd. Lots of work, fast-paced, but if you focus and get it done, it can be an easy class. Took her 60 course in the summer (got an A), 65 in the fall (got an A so far). She can be a little weird, but for an A, I can deal w/it.
She is an excellent teacher. I would take her for all my math classes if she was teaching the ones I needed.
Great teacher and really cares about her students
She was one of the worst professors that I have ever had. She is not understanding and acted like we were bothering her if questions were asked.
Everyone said what a fun lady she was last term. This term she must be having some personal problems, because she was very unhelpful for the first part of the term. She seemed annoyed with the class and didn't like answering questions, saying things like "good luck" sarcastically before giving a test. I wouldn't recommend her if you need help.
A little quirky, very serious in beginning of term but relaxes a bit half way thru. She definitely cares that you understand the information, and prepares you for the next level.
I heard she was a great instructor but quickly found out she doesn't like answering questions. She teaches way too fast, and then wonders why people aren't grasping the concepts.
She goes way to fast....I had to take this class twice because I just couldnt keep up with all the math concepts...she can be a little grouchy at times...not horrible....we all have are off days...overall she is Great and really cares about everyone and understanding math. She makes jokes so its not all boring math stuff for almost 2 hours...
Something must have drastically changed in her life recently, because I found her to be nothing but abrasive and demeaning. She treated us like naughty 5 yr olds who perpetually annoyed her. She knows the material and could be good at conveying it if she resolves her issues. Some students could tune out her behavior; I couldn't.
I made the mistake of taking a 4 week class. After not being in school since 2008. I am struggling bad. But accept that I will fail this class because it was just to fast for me. Meaning I do not blame her for going over things as quickly as she does. She's a wonderful lady & I respect her. I would love to take her class again if it wasn't so short
She was the best math teacher I have ever had. She took the time to explain how the problem should be, how it should not be. She also showed us different ways: to study, problem solving, resources, and how to follow the steps. I would tell everyone to take her class at least once. I have taken her class twice because I like the way she works. Very
I was very hesitant about taking this class because math is not my strong suit..however, I found Carver to be so funny, respectful but witty, insightlful and helpful. She didn't let me just "sit there" but kept everyone involved in the process. I greatly respect her and am looking forward to having her again in another class. Challenging!
What an amazing teacher. I hated math and she make me understand it and now I find it actually fun. She is so good with students, cares about everyone and always encourages questions. No question is EVER stupid to her, except the one you don't ask. I would take her for every math class, if she were available. I highly recommend her.
She is an excellent teacher!!! I'm enjoying her class more than I've ever enjoyed math my entire life. she explains in detail and answers any questions you might have. She makes you feel apart. I recommend this class to anyone who has to take math.
Firm, quick and I liked her teaching style.
This was my second attempt at MTH95 and D.Marie made it a good one. She makes sure you understand how the math works and shortcuts to get you there. I was also late to almost every single class and she never gave me a hard time or probed into my personal business. Take her class and take her advice on the peppermints!! I think they actually work
I think dMarie Carver was the best teacher to start with. She was very through, fair, easy to talk to and follow and funny when needed. Thank you!
She can be grouchy at times which makes her intimidating, but overall she seems to care about your overall knowledge of math. Her HW load is fair and her grading is also fair. She is a good teacher and I'd recommend her. She does call on you randomly. So know your stuff!
I think she's great! I like her so much that I'm taking my next math class in summer so I can have her again. She really wants her students to do well and that shows with her patience and encouragement.
Lots of handouts and helpful material used to enhance understanding and prepare for tests.
Very helpful and pleasant to be around. Homework not required, but necessary to do good on quizzes/tests.
This is the best math teacher I've ever had. If you hate math this teacher is for you. She's a little intimidating at first, but I think that's what she wants you to think. She's really nice and genuinely cares about her students. She give somewhat a lot of homework, but I think it's because she wants us to practice. She's the best, take her! ;)
One of the best teachers I have ever had! She is extremely helpful and makes the class fun. I would definitely take her again if she taught Math 111.
I'm waiting to know the grade from my final exam and then I will know my overall gradeā¦. but I have to say your success in this class ultimately depends on your willingness to do the homework(which isn't graded) and come to class to do the exit slips. I didn't do homework so my tests weren't very good. She's intimidating, but nice! Hard tests tho..
Ms Carver is an excellent instructor!! I had her for math 65 & 95. Her handouts are very useful study guides, homework is optional, and tests include extra credit. She can be intimidating at first but she truly just wants everyone to succeed. I'd take her for math 111 if she taught it
She is easily one of the best instructors I've had for math. She doesn't expect you to do homework, rather, the work is "suggested". She will expect you to want to learn the material, and is a bit hard on her students, but she is also approachable . Test reviews are exactly like the actual tests, but with the numbers changed. Take her class.
Great teacher overall!! Will take her MTH65 next term.
She is an excellent professor. She genuinely cares about the success of her students and reaches out to those who are struggling. She also makes sure that her students are understanding the math, rather than going through the motions. She's funny too. Highly recommended.
I took this class with her about three years ago. She is the second best teacher I have ever had. I HIGHLY recommend her. She is very clear, very organized, and very helpful. She may seem a little stern at first, but she is really nice once you get to know her. Once of my most enjoyable classes ever!
D.Marie Carver is a very lively individual. This class was interesting because your grade can change quickly, but it's usually far higher than you think. She checks over the homework, but nothing bad happens if you don't do a few problems. On some weekends there are short problem sets. There's quizzes and group quizzes. Study for the tests though.
Absolutely amazing teacher. She is the first teacher i have had in college that I genuinely enjoyed and felt confident in my learning. You will have a blast in class and she usually lets you make up points you missed on your tests so you are almost guaranteed to pass. her personality is so unique and fun you will never regret taking her for math.
D Marie Carver is a super awesome teacher who makes learning math fun. She challenges you, but does her best to make sure that you understand the material the best way possible. With any math class, most of the success lies with the student, so you have to study and do your work. D Marie Carver is an awesome teacher to take for a math 62 class.
I've always been a couple years behind in math, but I had her for 3 terms straight and I do not regret it. She'll explain everything, with a touch of humor. She's extremely clear, and if she isn't, she is willing to help out. She posts extra worksheets online if you want more practice. Tests are hard, but not impossible. Would recommend!
D'Marie is a fantastic instructor who makes math fun-- and that's not easy to do. She genuinely cares about the success of her students and is willing to work through as many problems as you need to understand. I wish she taught 111112, I would take her for everything! If you have the opportunity-- definitely take her course. She's great.
I loved D. Marie's Class, and I'm pretty sure anyone who takes her class will love it or loves it. She really knows her stuff and makes it easy for someone who struggles with math to grasp onto! She is there for all her students and truly wants everyone to succeed, you are not just a number when you take one of her classes! I highly recommend her!
This class has a heavy homework load and a mandatory in class participation. With that said, DMarie is extremely helpful and takes the time to help her students. This is not any easy class due to the amount of homework assigned and that it is 3 days a week instead of two. It requires a lot of time and energy, but if you work hard you will do fine.
DMarie is GREAT. Her class is fun yet challenging. Take-home quizzes, tons of hw, easy writing assignments, field experience, & diff. styles of exams (group/partner for written exams, project exams, etc.) which all go into your portfolio. Sounds intimidating, but don't worry! Keep up with the work, and you'll succeed in the class. BEST CLASS EVER!
She's an amazing teacher + she's there for you. Grading is very clear, and there's hardly any misunderstanding. That being said, it's up to you to do the hard work. She gives a lot of homework + there's a quiz every week with the exception of when there's an exam. Still, you'll enjoy the activities, and have a deep appreciation for her/her class.
She is amazing instructor, I used to hate math but after taking her math class I'm in love with Math again. Thanks so much for all the hard works.
I've always struggled with Math but dMarie has a way about her that makes it fun and easy. I honestly could have put more effort into this class, but still got a B... again I'm not a Math guy! If you struggle with Math this is the class for you!!! She is very caring and if you put in effort she will make sure you succeed!
d'Marie is such a sweet lady. She really is passionate about Math. I would highly suggest taking from her. The only thing I wish she did was have typed up lecture note packets for us. She doesn't grade HW. Her tests are challenging if you don't study well. Highly recommend taking her!!!! She also bring us crackers sometimes. She's funny too!
I can't say enough good things about dMarie. I loathe math with a passion, but she made it entertaining and understandable. She spent hours in the tutoring center helping her students and is super caring. Homework isn't turned in, but I recommend doing it and the extra worksheets she posts. I can't recommend dMarie highly enough!
If you have the opportunity to take D'Marie's class, DO! She is so caring & helpful and goes out of her way to make sure the students understand and learn. You couldn't ask for a better instructor. I disagree with the person who says she needs to provide lecture note packets. She posts them online after every class. Just log in and get them.
Wonderful teacher! Such a sweet, caring, and friendly lady. Really seems to have a passion for teaching Math. Would strongly suggest taking from d'Marie!!
Wow, totally amazed by Carver. She's the perfect combo of friendly and strict. She easily relates with everyone, but if she catches you not paying attention she will call you out. I can't tell if I like stat's or if I just thrived because of her enthusiasm. She's an outstanding educator and someone I would enjoy spending time with outside of class
Dmarie's classroom was very chill and nonthreatening. She is very good at teaching and I have learned a lot. However, she is super strict with grading. You have to execute the problems exactly how she wants or she'll dock points for it. There's a lot of homework and if you are even a day late in turning in an assignment, she won't accept it.
d'Marie TOTALLY changed math for me because of her unique, applicable perspective and contagious enthusiasm. Amazing, chill, and positive classroom environment. Not to mention she's hilarious! She is strict, particular, and expects a lot from her students, but she provides a lot in return. Definitely a teacher I will always remember and respect!
dMarie genuinely made me love math! I say this as someone who's despised it for a long time. As long as you show up, do your work and take it seriously... you'll do well. She's a little world-weary but she genuinely cares. You will use the textbook every class, and there's a total of 6 exams. This class really built my confidence on multiple levels
D Marie was a huge reason why Math 211, 212, and 213 were some of my favorite classes (and Ive never been a fan of math). This was the first math class I actually thrived in. She made class fun and seemed genuinely invested in my success. Not only does she love and know a lot about math, but she does an excellent job teaching it as well.
She is the best! I came into Math 95 thinking that I would need lots of help because I have not been in a math class for a bit. She made math really fun. At some point in the math you will need help and she will always be there for you. I would take her class again.
D'Marie is a kind woman. She brings sandwiches to class or hands out candy. Awesome. But, as an instructor she is burnt out. Expect to teach yourself in this class. The occasional teaching she does is painful for her to talk about. She is sick of math. Who can blame her right? It's math. Maybe she enjoyed teaching at one point, but not anymore.
d'Marie is one of the best instructors I've ever had! She is caring and really knows the material. I took three Foundations of Elementary math courses with her and learned a great deal for my career as a future teacher. I highly recommended taking a class from her, she cares and makes sure her students really understand the material!
DMARIE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR AT PCC! I am not kidding she is so sweet, kind and funny. She was one of my teachers in first term. I am not very good at math but she made it fun and easy and I passed with over 100% . She made Math 111 easy for me. She genuinely wants you to pass and she will work with you if you're not passing so that you will pass.
D'Marie is the best. Explains things very well, lots of home work on WEBWORK but she helps you with whatever you need, just stay on top of homework and you will be just fine.
With D'Marie, you really need to get on her good side to be well off in this class. Everytime I went up to her to ask her a question, she'd shoo me off. The amount of homework given in this class makes it feel like a 5 credit class, and The amount of WebWork she assigned some weeks was insane, since some sections take more the 2 hours to complete.
dMarie is one of the best professors at PCC. I have taken MTH 211, 212, and I am currently in 213 with her and she truly cares about her student's success and shares her insight into being a teacher (very useful!). There are take-home quizzes, textbook homework, and a couple exams throughout the term as well as some fun in-class activities. :)
D'Marie is a good teacher, and she wants you to follow some rules on how to submit your answers and show the work.
As a person she is really nice, but when it comes to grading she is tough. I followed and met every criteria with every assignment and I always got a 90% or lower. It's like there's a hidden agenda within her criteria and you have to figure it out. I'd spend hours on certain assignments to make sure it met everything and it never was enough.a
There is a lot of webwork homework but its easy and she always offers help if you don't understand it. The homework always helps with the daily quizzes and problem sets. Its definitely worth it and you actually learn throughout the course.
*great professor; would totally take again! *weekly review quiz (15-20 questions) with 3 attempts, weekly 4ish question review worksheet, 10-50 questions on webwork depending on the work covered in the lecture. *access to the notes that you take in class (zoom) or print her notes out. *easy A if you ask questions and get tutor help. *late to emails
This class is pretty easy to pass, as long as you don't fall behind on the weekly homework and quiz. Professor Carver was quite accommodating, and gave helpful feedback on quizzes and problem sets. She sometimes gives unnecessary information in lectures, which can make them confusing, but she's otherwise straightforward in her teaching methods.
She cuts her class into 5 groups Homework, Problem sets, Quiz, Midterm, Final. She is a very hard grader. Will give you a 0 if you don't show enough work even if it looks like a good amount to you. She is very reluctant to answer questions and has no patients and has laughed at students for not understanding. No EC except getting 20/20 on a group.
D'Marie is the best! I had her for MTH211 and MTH212 and am so excited to have her again this term! She genuinely cares for her students inside and outside of the classroom. Not to mention, she is super funny and makes the content very intriguing. HIGHLY recommend taking this series from her if you have the chance!
I generally find math to be very stressful, but I loved d'Marie's class. She made me actually enjoy math. She is organized, caring, and gives good feedback.
A great instructor! D'marie is always ready to help in any way that she can to ensure you understand concepts and anything else she might throw your way. She is a tough grader and the work load is heavy and fast paced but she is a wonderful instructor and gives great feedback and help.
I had the pleasure of having dmarie through three terms of math 211-213. She cares about her students so much and really wanted every single student to succeed. I always looked forward to going to her class because we always had fun activities and learned new things. The class can be tough but she is always there to help you through it. Best class!
