he is an alright teacher he wants the students to act like little children and he gives hand outs but he gets a little up set if you dont study or read the handouts he likes to feel like the class needs him
Biology is a very tought course. However, Prof Gembistiky gave a lot of handouts and his test for the most part were fair. He gave a lot of extra credit points. For the most part you should get a decent grade if you complete all the assignments, study hard, and show up for class everyday. However, it is sometimes very hard to understand Prof Gembis
Professor fails to teach students deeper understanding of biology even though his tests require a deeper understanding. While he does have a lot knowledge on the subject, a language barrier and defensive attitude causes poor interaction with students. **2/3 of students have dropped the class and at least a couple of the remaining 1/3 are close to failing**
I don't know what the hell u are all talking about. This is the WORST teacher I ever had and needs to be fired. Does not teach. Goes way too fast to write down any notes. Does not care about his students. Class started with 24, now down to 7. Boring as anything. Test are impossible & on a tremendous amount of information and he does no review
He is the worst professor Ive had at CCC! If you get him don't even try to take it just get a new professor. He is way too hard, doesn't speak good english. His test are hard as hell and your lucky if you get a "C" on them and doesn't review. I had him and had to drop it and there was only 8 people when left. So this is your warning..He's horriable
He is an excellent Anatomy teacher. The course was fun: lots of animations, the virtual body etc. Lecture outlines are extremely helpful. Tests are challenging but reflect course material. Multiple opportunities for grade improvement! If you work hard, you will be rewarded! If you want an easy grade, this class is not for you.
I never thought that I would pass this class. If you work hard and attend all classes and do all assignments you will fare ok. He is not tolerant for make up quizzes and you must keep up with the material or you will never pass the quizzes or exams. Pop quizzes! Labs were easy. Does treat you like HS students. leaves class for long breaks...
Very good professor with high expectations! If you like to be “spoon fed” and act like you are a high school student, he will treat you as one. If you are interested in the course and work hard, your effort will be appreciated. His class fully prepared me for Microbiology and Anatomy. If you are serious about science, this is the class to take!
he rocks

Very hard to understand. I had a full class starting out with me, by time the last week to withdrawal it was down to less than half of what started. Its suppose to be a lecture and lab mix. He mainly talks and barely does labs. He doesn't teach, he just reads from the slides that you already have printed. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I took Dr. G's Biology class last semester and was very pleased. His class is very challenging and informative. I learned a lot and had a decent grade. I would not recommend registering for his course if you are not serious about Biology or your main goal is to get a good grade with no effort.
I'd rather have taken an online course. For the fact that I taught myself the entire 10 chapters. BE AWARE!!!
The teacher cannot put knowledge in your head. You need to study! So did I and got an "A". Study, study, study! BE AWARE.
This is my personal assessment of Dr. Gembitsky upon completing his APII course and Id like to think of it as positive criticism. Needs work on fundamental aspects of teaching which I think is from inexperience. Needs to stay consistent with course materials and clarify areas of focus on a subject for tests, more organization and attract attention.
Very hard teacher to follow. No help in preparing for exams. you study the text and handouts and test are still difficult. he says if he knows it you should too. 90% of the class passed with a C what of left of it any way, because 50% dropped. class work and labs are easy and easy to get an A or B but don't expect to get that on a test. run
He doesn’t speak down to you. Ask for help if you need it. I got a “B” and all my friends got a “B”. The only way you get a “C” if you are lazy or don’t have enough time to study. I am going to be a nurse. Dr G used to work for a hospital and understands how much we need to know. I am so glad I had a good anatomy teacher!
He is horrible.. I had him for a 15wk. course & we only did 4 or 5 labs.. if I didn't study anything on my own I wouldnt have learned anything b/c this guy doesnt TEACH! he reads off of slides & expects u to know everything. If u ask him 4 help he won't help u so dont even bother! DONT take his class!
DR G knows his subject, he is very fair with his grading. He takes every grade in account. has alot of pop quizzes so be prepared, but if you attend class and pay attention you will do fine
I took this class 2 semesters ago at CCC. If you are a serious student, then you will be fine. You have to study and read at home to keep up. He will help you if you ask but will make you work hard for the answer. He expects perfection. Does provide outline which is helpful. Lots of pop quizzes. A bit on the arrogant side. (Tries) to be funny.
Excellent Professor, very helpful and willing to make time for individual appointments. His assignments are not impossible, but they are challenging and require a thorough thought process.
Great teacher, very clear and helpful. Hard work is required, but it really pays off in that you really understand the material.
I LOVE his lectures and labs!
Very interesting class! Great teacher! He offers many opportunities for the grade improvement. Go to class, do all assignments, you will be fine! Highly recommend his class for the future health professionals.
Dr. G is the bomb! I had him for A&P I and I really learned. He is hard but also interesting and concerned with if you're learning what you need to be a nurse. I worked hard but my grade reflected my effort. I highly recommend Dr. G for those who are serious about their future career as a health care professional.
This dude is cool and he totally knows his stuff!! He really cares about his students and wants them to do well. His course a bunch of work, but I really feel like I learned something and earned my grade. If you have the chance, take his class.
This Professor explains everything in depth and makes Anatomy and Physiology material easy to understand.
If you want to be be barrated and talked to like your in kindergarten then take his course, otherwise find another professor. Don't even think about asking a question! He gets mad if you do. He is very arrogant and condiscending. I stuck with it and got a B, but I could not wait for it to end! I took A+P II spring 08
I don't know what you are talking about. Dr G answered every question in class. He often stopped the lecture asked "Does it make sense?" and waited for our questions. His teaching was cool! I got an A.
Very cool class! Real labs! Professor cares about your learning and does not end his class early. He will work your butt off but you will learn a great deal! As a future nurse, I enjoyed this class. Take it!!!
he may be difficult to understand at first and his jokes can be intersting to say the least but trust me there are worst things. if you pay attention and study for the tests you will be fine. i took him in the summer and still managed to get an a.
Must be an adult to appreciate his humor.Seems like a lion @ first but he's a teddy bear. Will help students 110% all you need to do is ask.Lecture is consistent with notes & book given to students. His tests are fair.Requires absolute silence while lecturing,he's soft spoken. Dr.G understands students needs.Keep up the good work, fight not flight!!!
No professor at CCC will devote more time and energy to your success than Dr. G. He puts a lot of time and preparation into his lectures/labs and expects the same in return. The secret to an A in his class is simple...do what he tells you! He tells you EXACTLY what you need to do to get an A. His class really prepared me for graduate school!
I don't know if he changed his teaching methods or what? I heard of people who had him and said he was great and offered a lot of xtra credit. I had him this semester and two of the tests were hard. There was one or two extra credit things only because everyone was failing. Lots of pop quizzes, especially in the beginning. No review classes
we learn how to clean his room, never prepare for class, i mean he is a very smart teacher but he acts like a child...if nobody answer his question he will wait until someone does and by that time its 30min past. we looked at pictures all day and test came from no where...
Study hard. 3 exams 1 final. Starts out easy enough then material get tough. Dr G give great outlines. Use them with txt. Never skip lab. First couple quizzes were hard. Some quizzes were repeats of worksheets given as homework. Prepare ahead as much as poss. Material can be hard but Dr G is great.
I had Dr G for both A&P I and II and enjoyed his classes a lot. I took many college classes before and had a full time job. Now I am in a Physician Assistant program. Remember, Anatomy is hard and if you are not willing to put time and effort to master the subject, nursing is definitely not for you. Thanks to Dr G for his knowledge and helpfulness!
I was able to better understand biology that most teachers whizzed through.I read the chapters, paid attention to examples and notes in class. The lecture outlines and movies online helped. Lab correlated so well with the lecture notes. Now when I go into my nursing classes I will be well prepared and remember his little drawings :)
He is very difficult to understand. He can make very rude comments, and makes you feel like a child. I did not learn very much at all. I had to teach myself. There is no review for the tests and he loves pop quizzes.
Honestly, half of these comments can truly not be serious entires. I am an A student, graduated from a Univ, had few pre-req's to take for a Master's program & I wish I never took his class! He doesn't teach, he is rude, treats you as a child, and ask a question - he will tell you to research it yourself. Funny - I thought I paid to be TAUGHT!!
Utterly useless and pathetic.Does not return exams and grades in timely fashion.Did not return all assignments prior to final. Accent is too thick.Takes off points for being late but he is always late himself.Rude, arrogant, unprofessional.Take another section if possible! However,if you study well on your own it's an easy A.
Horrible Professor. The WORST (by far) I've ever had. Treats you like your 5 years old, he's very arrogant and rude. It's a struggle to get Exam grades from him. Does not return quizes. During lab (every lab!) he'll leave class for at least 30-40 minutes and the students are on their own to figure out what we're supposed to do. BEWARE!!!!!
I took A&P I with a professor who I thought was amazing at how she taught my class. This professor cannot compete to my A&P I professor. He is very hard to understand. He nevers returns work handed in back on time. Dont take his class. You'll be very sorry if you have him. I'm lucky I ended up with a B. Beware of him.
Taking him was the biggest mistake I ever made. His accent is too think to understand anything. He was the most disrespectful teacher I ever had. He treats you like you're in kindergarden and when you ask questions he makes you look like an idiot. He gives pop quizes almost every class and almost all the lab practicals are pop ones also.
Don't take this professor unless you absolutely have to. He teaches in a "Socretean" style -- which is great for Philosophy or Debate, but terrible in an ANATOMY course. As was pointed out before, he doesn't like to answer questions. But if you can study independently, his lecture notes are very good and you can pull an A or B out of his class.
I don't mind hard professors, but this guy is by far the WORST professor I have ever had. Condescending, incomprehensible, doesn't give you your tests back AT ALL, and said tests have no rhyme or reason to the content. Ask him a question, he'll tell you to get a tutor. I was a 4.0 student coming in, now I'll be lucky if I finish summer with a B.
He is worst teacher ever. His tests are hard and does not like to answer questions. If you do, he wouldn't give the proper answer. it's like as if he wants you to fail.He is very sarcastic so you might want to watch out for that. His labs are graded unfair and harsh. And the most harsh part is that he'd give zero to anyone if they hurt his emotions
Pathetic! Horrible! Get your sneakers on and run down to registration to drop! I wish I had. Why is this man still teaching? He is disrespectful and hurtful, I felt degraded after every class. How many student have to complain to the Dean? Drop this class and run!
Great Professor! Teaches at real college level. If you are going to be a nurse or a health care prfessional, you will not have any problems in the future understanding physiology. His class is definately not for sluckers. If you are one of those, take a different Professor. If you care to learn, take his class!
Professor G is awsome :-) His class is hard but if you study and do your work, you'll be fine.
dr g was a pretty bad teacher. i thought his tests were easy if you took good notes and studied the notes you passed. i didn't use the book once except for the first chapter thinking i needed it. one complaint is that whenever you asked a question he wouldnt' give you a straight answer which is very frustrating if you dont understand
His class is interesting and fun! Highly recommend!
The class was fun, I am sorry it is over. We need more Professors like this! He is very helpful and sympathetic, answers every single question and checks for understanding. If you don't mind working hard to get a good grade, you will enjoy the class. One more thing, he doesn't tolerate flip-flops and safety rules breakers (don't even try)!
This professor likes to answer student's questions. He always says that there is no stupid questions because you are learning. The class is very informative and I would say entertaining. I like the teaching style and especially professor's enthusiasm which helps to learn difficult subject. If you are not affraid of hard work, take his class!
Difficult teacher, but very fair, and really tries to help students to succeed.
Whoever gave this professor a decent rating is crazy. His accent is so thick that you can hardly understand what he says. If you ask him to repeat himself, he makes you feel stupid for asking questions. His study guides seem thorough, but when it comes to the exams, they are nothing like the material he teaches in class!! Switch profs immediately!!
WORST CLASS EVER! Completely incompetent teacher!!
Worst teacher ever, do not take him he is very unorganized and does not even remeber students names! He very rarley does labs, and tries to cram all the material in before a test. He does not review before the test as he states that he already over the info and it is all in our notes? Very hard to understand with his accent too.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! He is the worst Professor I have ever had at CCC, I like him as a person but as a Professor he's horrible! Doesn't give you anything back, useless when it comes to explaining what he really wants, and the best of it...if you ask him a question he answers you with a question. Avoid him if you need a good GPA.
I had Dr G for both AnP-I and AnP-II and loved the class! I can appreciate what I learned in class even more now, when I am in a physician assistant program. Dr G is the best instructor to take if you care about your future career. If GPA is your goal, take those numerous instructors who don't teach and give easy As to most students
This teacher was very thorough in the information that was important. I studied my notes and the book intensely and received As. Attendance is important because he goes over specific things throughout the chapter. The accent is a little tricky to understand at first, but you'll adjust to it fast. labs are mostly drawling which was easy/fun.
I enjoyed having him as a professor, he knows what he is talking about, and likes to joke around from time to time. However, follow directions, and pay attention!
Dr. G is very fair and I learned a lot in his class. He does not hand out grades you do not earn, but you will learn a lot in his class. Don't try to cram the night before and always come to class and you will do fine.
I took Dr G's class over the summer. Even summer semester is accelerated, Dr G did all he could to help us. I highly regard his enthusiasm and passion for teaching. Dr G cares about your current and future progress. I entirely recommend his class. Be willing to work hard and you will lern a lot from an understanding and caring instructor!
First going into Anatomy I with Dr.G, my first impressions about the class were uneasy. But soon enough I found out that Dr.G is a good teacher. The class was hard but I feel like it prepared me for other classes in the future. As long as you work hard you will get a good grade. I would recommend taking Dr.Gs classes.
Hands down one of the worst professors I have ever had. I got an A in the course and taught myself. His tests aren't hard just read the outlines and handouts he gives and do the practice tests online. He talks down to students and just wants everyone to know how smart he is and he is in charge. He is doesn't answer questions and is extremely boring
Awesome teacher! Had him for A&P I and II. I realized in his A&P II you do learn more in his class than with other teachers. That was proved to me when the students in our A&PII class did not learn half the information we did in his A&P I class. He is the only science teacher who truely cares about his students.Just attend class, study & obey rules.
Dr G is the best teacher on the planet! Love him! Do not hesitate to sign for his class! If you are on a health care career track, this is your world.
I would not recommend taking this class with Dr. G if my life depended on it!!!! You cannot get your test grade without showing your college Id. However, you can TAKE that same test without showing your id. What kind of stuff is that? Does not speak good English. Does not teach well. Overall not a good teacher at all.
I highly recommend taking this class with Dr. To receive a good grade you need to study, read the text, notes, on-line assignments, attend all classes. College ID is required as per student handbook. Dr G is an excellent instructor; however, slackers always have a reason to complain. Do what you are supposed to do as a student and you will be fine!
Dr G is the best! He is so nice and helpful. You MUST take him for AnP. If you don't understand something, he will take the time to explain it to you during his office hours. His tests are straight forward. Take his class!
AWFUL!!!!
AWSOME!!!
I had him for bio101 and A+PI. I am an honor student and get good grades but he is the WORST science professor ever. He doesn't answer your questions effectively and doesn't tell you what's on the test. He is also very condescending. Crams everything to the end of the semester. I taught myself
TRUST ME...THIS PROFESSOR HAS SOME SERIOUS ISSUES.. I DO NOT KNOW WHY HE IS STILL TEACHING..DROP HIS CLASS
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!
Very solid professor; very knowledgeable, agreeable, and tolerant (too tolerant). You will need a solid foundation to do well in his course. You can gain his favor by knowing your material. He will not make exceptions for you, so be serious about the course, and your grade and you will do well.
Intelligent but doesnt try to help you. I had him for BIO 1 and AP1. Doesnt teach you at all, he just reads from his notes and tries to show you how much he knows. Basically taught myself. Crammed EVERYTHING in the last test and wasnt even there to give the final, we had a substitute NEVER gives tests back either. Never knew my grades all semester
This guy is the reason I made this account. Listen to what everyone here is saying & DO NOT TAKE HIM. Took the class in summer & he would NOT give ANY grades back. Refuses to discuss grades because he always has to be right. Rude. Hard to understand. Doesn't answer questions, just tells you "you should have learned that in A&P1."
he is a horrible professor. He does not give back grades and if he does he will not discuss them. He does not answer questions ever if he does the question is answered with another question. He talks down to students and makes them feel unworthy and scared to even ask or answer questions. He leaves the classroom for periods of time and is moody
I've been a straight-A, Dean's list student (& v. much interested in bio & A&P) but am barely passing this class. He's unhelpful, discouraging, condescending & unfair. "Lab" consists of busy work in our books while he disappears or plays on his phone. Doesn't give us our tests back & offers no other assignments to boost our grades or help us learn.
I would try avoiding this professor if you are looking to take Biology or any kind of class that this professor is teaching. If you enjoy having a professor show up 20 minutes late every class and then leaving for 45 minutes during labs/other things that are done during lab then take him, but if you want to get a good grade I would advise against.
He is possibly the worst teacher I have ever had in my whole college career! He is very rude to students who ask questions, when you ask him a question, he never answers it in a way others will understand, he doesn't give back test, I could go on forever! For the sake of your sanity, do NOT take this awful professor.
Very understanding professor. Also, the best in his field. Very tolerable and caring. Anatomy is difficult and he is always available for extra help during office hours. Do not hesitate to ask for help, study and you will do fine. Highly recommended!!! He explains things really well.
Dr G is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my entire college career. I currently study to be a physical therapist and took AnP with Dr G a few years ago. I appreciate the solid foundation in anatomical terminology I received in his class. I am a lot more successful than some students who did not have good anatomy preparation. Thanks Dr G!
He was awful....Stay away...Doesn't answer questions, moody, not approachable, labs were unclear and had no clue what grade you got because he doesn't hand back anything, doesn't return the test, just poor, poor, poor. STAY AWAY....
Awful teacher. I would not recommend him.honestly, don't take him.
Why in the world would this person be on payroll @ CCC. This was the worst experience of my life! Dr G is moody, unapproachable and unclear. Labs are pointless. From lectures to lab he is 2 diff people and neither one is nice.He tries the first two classes to be funny and sweet and then the "real" prof comes out. Beware! I want money back n a do-over
I also want to state that nearly four weeks into a summer class, Dr G has not graded any tests nor labs. You as a student will never know where you stand. Dr G does not do his job as a Prof. Do NOT Take!
Spite is the name of the game. Only the strongest survive. It's like he WANTS everyone to fail.
Ok. I agree this guy is a little weird and difficult. But in all reality, if you show up to class, study, and read the book for crying out loud.... you will pass and probably get an A or B. Its usually people who don't take the time out to study who are on here complaining. His tests are fair and Im glad he doesnt just hand out A's... work for it.
This teacher made me re-think my career choice. He is the worst professor i have ever had. He is very unclear. Half of my classes were spent watching cat videos on the projector, and after that he'd let us color during lab. I did not learn a single thing from him. If you have him you are better off dropping and looking for anybody else.
awful teacher with a horrible teaching style
Dr. Gembitsky is more campus security than professor. He spent the entire first class (every minute) explaining campus policies, from parking lot fines, to hallway etiquette, to how to display your college IDs on your person. He's completely anal-retentive, inaccessible, and has little compassion. I switched days and professors after two classes.
AWFUL. I'm a straight A, honors level student & I'm afraid I'm going to fail; it's too late to drop. Walks around questions, doesn't explain his grading if you even get anything back, & can't manage time. Semester ends in a week; we just had our first test. He is late everyday, but goes ballistic if you are late. Entire class hates him. Avoid!
RUN SOON AS YOU SEE HIS NAME!!! He is horrible, crams everything in to the end of the semester. He goes off on tangents about nothing pertinent to the class.
Awful teacher. I'll admit dr gembitsky is knowledgable about the subject matter, he doesn't teach it. He leaves the labs for extended periods of time. Does not give back tests. Crams everything to the end. Unapproachable. Don't waste your time with this class. I've lost an entire semester. And I was a Deans list student until this class.
I got a B, but would highly advise against taking him. Treats students as if they are children and spends more time singling students out for lab safety than teaching even when there is no lab. Midterm was late and tests are on material not even learned. Hard to know where you stand in the class as nothing is handed back or given back weeks later.
I found Dr. Gembitsky to be completely different from the other reviews. To be clear, he is not easy and has some personality quirks, but he cares and wants every student to learn. He expects students do the work, study the material, and prepare for the tests. If you have the time to do this, then the class will not be difficult. If you dont, drop.
Dude is a nut. Quite honestly don't know I managed to get a B, he must've liked me. I was absent quite a few times and didnt do so hot on labs. But that is a problem within itself, I was graded on how he liked me, not my actual grades. He's quite moody, anal and entirely defensive towards any criticism. Not easy class in general.
DO NOT RISK THIS PROFESSOR!!! He is the worst professor I've ever had! He grades you based on how much he likes you. He tells you to ask questions then gets an attitude when you actually do. You can't understand a word he says and he's very rude. I strongly advise you drop the class if you see his name. I've never met a more immature teacher.
I don't expect for things to be handed to me but this professor gives you nothing. If you ask a question he tells you to go look in the book or belittles you saying YOU SHOULD KNOW IT FROM A AND P I. Sorry but i'm not going to remember everything from A and P I. Thought the first day of class I would do fine but no matter how much I study I do poor
Run- just run and drop it. Im on average an A or B student- this professor will never give you back your papers to let u know where you stand. Also- his exams were nothing on the material that was taught. He belittles students and places more focus on lab safety when all you do is watch movies. Do what you can to take it with another professor
People need to stop taking this teacher-it's the only way to get him on the curb of CCC instead of in classroom. He is mean spirited. He made me feel uncomfortable. He smiles at students while telling them they failed and then says he doesn't have time to talk to you that it's time for lunch. He has no interest in helping his students succeed.
This Professor is the worst Professor i ever had he makes you feel like you are stupid, does not care if you do well or if you fail. It felt like to me he wants his students to fail. If you see his name Run as fast as you can!!!!!!
Very rude and not helpful.. Do not recommend him to anyone. Makes you feel stupid and doesn't teach
Let me start of by saying NO. I thought I would be fine and you may too but I'm seriously telling you to not take this class. He does know his stuff but he can't teach and his test are impossible. I received a C and now have to retake. Take either Gartland or Bacha because yes they are hard but you actually learn. Gembitsky is a joke.
CCC should be ashamed to force this teacher upon students. He knows the material but does not know how to teach. Very rude when you ask questions and never gives back exams. He waited until the last month to cram exams on multiple chapters. 4 tests, a portfolio and silly labs. I get A's and B's, this is my first time having to repeat a class. RUN!
As with most courses, you get what you put in. Don't expect your grade to be handed to you. However, if you read the book and attend class, there is no reason to not get an A in the course. I found his tests to be very easy, given I studied. He is very soft spoken and is foreign, so expect some awkward english.
I have never experienced a worse class. By far the hardest class I ever took. He will not accept your portfolio if you have on open-toed shoes. He spends a majority of the semester making us watch videos and reading aloud in class like fifth graders. He is very moody and will let his mood affect his teaching. Seriously, don't take him.
very hard to understand him. not clear. tests are ok if you study hard. but don't expect them back. . or as the semester goes on u will not know how you stand. he cares more about lab safety, parking passes and ids. expect to figure out the material on you own because its hard to follow his lectures. He jams tests at the end, and im a good student
I cannot believe how horribly I did in this class. The rest of my grades for this semester were all A's. He never had us hand anything in, and was never clear about what he wanted, yet still made it seem like he was very specific in what he wanted. I wish I could turn back time and drop the class when I could. I did everything I was supposed to.
I had him for environmental science. Went to every single class and read all the readings that was on the test review sheet twice. There's a few questions I did not know on the test but I was still able to get a A.
I survived 3 classes with Professor Gembitsky. After a 90 minute talk about ordering a car from the Tesla Motors website I realized that he had no intention to teach the material. I came to this page and was surprised that so many have had a similar experience with him. I have a meeting with the assistant dean tomorrow regarding this matter.
WARNING: DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS TAUGHT BY THIS TEACHER. The teacher has a poor quality of teaching. It is beyond frustrating to enjoy and learn things from his style of teaching.
I did everything from reading to note cards, outlines, videos and for some reason will have to take this course again. No curves on any tests, vague answers although willing to sit with you after the tests are given back (doesn't make any difference though), doesn't focus students when lecturing. Overall I was not impressed with him. A/B student.
He seems like a nice person who wants to teach a lecture, but he's also the kind of person who treats the students like they were in the 6th grade by watching movies and reading out loud. If you deviate from his plan of the day i.e. not handing in your portfolio in an exact way, he will argue with you to no end and there's no retaliation.
If you value your GPA, do NOT take this guy! He's easily the worst professor I've ever had and I really regret not dropping him. While knowledgeable on the material, he doesn't know how to teach it. No dates whatsoever on his syllabus, only 3-4 tests you never see again (75% of final grade!), & worst of all he makes you feel dumb asking questions
This man is just terrible, zero respect for students. I did give him the benefit of the doubt at the beginning of the semester after reading all of these. Should have saved my time and dropped it. Dreaded going to class. Starting to realize CCC has a lot of these types of professors
worst teacher i have ever had in my life. ruined my GPA, learned literally nothing. He was rude, you could not talk to him about anything. he also does not give your test back. leaves the lab during labs, if you make up a test you have to answer 3-4 essay questions.
Dr.G is a professor that will prepare you for the next level, and he will require you to push yourself. His class is tough, but the material is tough in itself. He takes note on the people who try hard &will reward you. He is a very intelligent and kind hearted guy, in addition to an awesome teacher. You will learn &have a good laugh in his class!
Dr. G is a great professor. If you end up having him, DO NOT panic as most students do. Dr. G will PREPARE you, if you are willing to learn! He is a very kind person. If you care to get a good grade he will help you. This man gets a lot crap he does not deserve. Dr. G is very intelligent and he actually cares A LOT about his students.
He's the WORST. The first test alone was on chapers 1-7 in the book (we covered 16 chapters all semester so this first test was almost on half the material!) He makes you feel like an idiot when you ask questions. A friend of mine told me she took him for A&P 2 and at the end of the semester only 4 kids remained in the class. AVIOD THIS PROFESSOR.
It's a miracle I even passed this class. It's supposed to be for non-science majors, but he seems to expect the world from you. The lectures had nothing to do with the subject a good percentage of the time, and if you had questions he would just dance around the answers. Nothing was ever clarified. Also probably the creepiest person I've ever met.
Most stressful class I have ever had in my life. He has a strong accent and is very soft spoken- therefore majority of lectures were not understandable. Entire semester, I learned ONLY from reading book. He often asked us if we had any questions after his lectures, but rarely answered any of them and made us feel dumb for asking! Beware!!!
Soft spoken in class, always uses the entire 3 hour class period (on occasion it isn't necessary, but he still does anyway). Covers a lot of material in the course, which has proven useful to me later on. If you read the book, and understand the material there is no reason not to receive a high grade... his tests are pretty straight forward.
Testing material does not line up with the lecture material. Lab grade was completely arbitrary. If a question was asked, student was referred to the text book.
Getting a good grade in this class isn't at all impossible.. But be prepared to do A LOT of reading from the textbook. Dr. G is a sweet man and I believe that if he sees you making an effort, participate during lecture, and follow the lab rules he'll cut you some slack.
I was able to get a B in this class but it was very hard. He is not by any means a good teacher and i would recommend to anyone to stay away from this class. There is a good reason his classes are always the only ones open. Unless you are able to write insanely quick and copy down verbatim what he says with a thick Ukraine accent I would avoid him.
-9000/0 Would not recommend. If you take this class, RIP. Ask him a question and expect him to ask you a question. Like ?_? We ask because we dont know. Ask him a question and the man will beat around the bush. Classmate asked him a question and we spent the WHOLE CLASS trying to find an answer for that classmate's question, bcs teacher wouldnt.
Dr. Gembitsky had a very low tolerance for misbehaving students. His punishment for a single student not doing what they were told would be to refuse to teach entire chapters of material. I found this to be completely unprofessional and a waste of my tuition. Appears kind and soft spoken, but can be extremely rude and demeaning. Avoid at all costs
Go to every class. Sit in the front. Take notes, ask questions ( he likes it when students show concern), and study his lecture outlines. Your grade will reflect the work you put in. I studied on average 3 hours a week and went to every class. I got an A because of consistent effort. Slack and you will be dissapointed in your grade.
Dr. G is a great professor who truly cares about his students. I finished both AnP I and II with him. I have also been admitted to a competitive nursing program and during the interview learned that his reference letter was extremely helpful. I learned a lot in his class and feel very well prepared for the nursing school. Thanks to Dr. G!
He is the worst professor I've ever had. He was always at LEAST 15 minutes late to class. His exams are pretty straight forward but he will test you on things he hasn't taught. He's extremely unhelpful and rude. He puts no effort into the class. He doesn't make exams until the night before. Retakes are essay questions he makes during breaks.
He's definitely interesting. He's bad and good. Kinda makes you feel dumb when you ask a question, not on purpose but he does. He knows his stuff tho I'll give it to him. I like him a lot better as a person, he is nice but is teaching style is odd and likely you won't like it. I kinda liked it but that's just me. I took him for A&P1 for 5 weeks, eh
It is possible to get a good grade, but you will have to work hard for it. Sit at the front of the class, use your book. He's very particular about neatness, so give your lab drawings some effort. It will pay off. Students complained about how heavy the final was going to be, so he gave us a take home test to do. It was hard, but a guaranteed A.
Professor Dmitry is an awesome professor, very much in order. Be prepared to pay close attention and do what your told to do. He watches everything, so don't get out of line he will notice!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure your not late and have good attendance or you will not pass. The only thing I didn't like his quizzes are not according to the notes.
do not understand what he is saying. not helpful. not any guidelines. i do not like his teching style .so boring.
Totally awful. Never take him. He is the worst professor i have ever had. He creates a hostile confusing and tense environment to learn.
He is an arrogant and unhelpfull instructor that will not help you no matter what. His tests are constructed from his interpreteation of material, not the book. He expects you to know things he does not teach and if you ask questions you will be chastised in front of everyone for being stupid.
He is condescending and can act petty more frequently than not. Does not offer help when asked questions. Does not offer partial credit, whatsoever. Syllabus contradicts itself in grading percentages. Impossible to know what grade you have until the end of the semester as most labs remain ungraded. Midterm had more history qs than not & was 11/14.
absolutely horrible! if you can take any other teacher over him take them. you wont pass. makes you feel stupid when asking a question. petty and ignorant. pay for lab but do no labs. 3 huge tests on 6-7 chapters at a time. lectures word for word out of the book. such a waste of money. RIP if you have him.
Get out before it's too late. I attended 3 different colleges, and this is the worst professor I ever had. He will NOT show compassion or kindness. A few students received failing test grades despite having studied hard for them. He probably failed those students on purpose. He smiled at the mention of students failing. He also shouts at students.
This is the most confusing, and frustrating class I have ever taken. The instructor refuses to make any clarification as to what he wants, and or expects. His lectures are random and gets off track easily. Tests will have material that is not covered in class, yet he expects you to know it. Don't bother asking for help or guidance. TERRIBLE!!
Horrible horrible horrible! I am an A student and he is the worse professor I have ever taken. I would highly advise everyone to do whatever you can to NOT take him. Almost my entire class failed.
A brilliant man, but his accent is thick, talks softly/quickly and his words translate harsher than he means. Only 4 grades in semester, 3 exams which includes the final and a lab portfolio. First exam is a breeze but they get harder, and lectures longer (5+ hours in 3 consecutive Sat. classes) but he gives a study guide that highlight exam topics.
Refrain from this class. You will learn a lot on your own. Constantly throwing curves will manipulate any portion of a test. Will not clarify any topics. Very disrespectful when answering questions.
I took this as a summer course, so I expected it to be accelerated. This class is insane. There are registered nurses and Bio majors in my class that say this guy is going way overboard. 5-6 chapters per test. Questions are worded in a tricky manner. I have a 4.0 and I am struggling to hold a "C" in this class. Take someone else!!!
Worst prof I've ever had. Consistently 15 mins late (literally every day but the last), lectures are disorganized. He is not very good with questions, does a poor job explaining or just outright says he cant teach the material over again. Study guides are vague, he isn't clear about what exactly you should know. Avoid at all costs if possible.
If you wanna play hangman, get yelled at when you ask a question, spend a lot of time looking at pictures of baby monkeys & watching videos from the 80s, go over A&PI stuff in detail even though you're in A&PII, take a 36 PAGE open ended take home test, and only know about 33% of your grade going into the final, then this guy is for you. Good luck.
Does not seem to take class seriously. Doesn't encourage active discussion, just bombards you with information nonstop for hours. Pretty frustrating. Barely grades anything, so it seems like he's not doing his job. Took a lab with him and many of the lab periods are him sitting in the back of the room, kicking up his feet, and playing videos.
Professor Gembitsky doesn't give you a clear view of what you're going to be learning throughout the semester. There are 3-4 grades all semester: the midterm, the final, your portfolio(binder), & maybe a project. The exams weigh heavily on your grade. The review sheet is very vague, it's a paper with page numbers(you might as well teach yourself).
This is coming from a 4.0 student. He was a very vague grader, and I didn't even know half of my grade until the final. You will get yelled at if you even try to ask any question about content. Funny story, the day before spring break there was a blizzard, and he decided to screw over people on his midterm for not being able to make it. Avoid him!
I hope I slip on ice so I dont make it his class, its finals week and were watching movies instead of reviews for FINALS. He likes to embarrass people and he mocks others. He also plays favorites and treats others in the class unfairly.
Avoid at all COST. Professor Gembitsky is one of the WORST teachers I've ever had. Unhelpful in almost every aspect. He creates an extremely unwelcoming learning environment to work in. He spent almost my entire semester sitting in the back watching videos during our 'Lab' time. He also gives out the most useless study guides in existence. Beware.
It's part the deadline for grades to be in and I don't have a grade. This is a 4 credit course and it seemed about half of the people in the class will need to take it again. He loves anyone who respects him, even though his treatment of students and teaching style doesn't deserve that respect. It's worth finding a different teacher.
I wouldnt expect the class to be interesting and others whove had the class before would tell you to drop it if youre struggling. Wouldnt recommend him to anyone.
Professor Gembitsky is the WORST professor at Camden county college. Do NOT take any of his courses. I emailed the professor multiple times after the semester ended to receive my final exam grade, got no response. He was late posting final grades by almost a week but he gets mad when students are late. Horrible experience, avoid him at all cost.
STAY. FAR. AWAY. Do not do it to yourself. Im serious. Dont take this guy. Spare the annoying headache. If you like your GPA, this class WILL ruin it.
Dmitri gembitsky's teaching needs reevaluation. Tends to act stubborn by reinforcing the idea that he expects you to learn a concept when you really haven't learned it since u have a different A&P 1 prof. No quizzes, supportive homework which contradicts given syllabus. He does not give tests back till day of drop. He plotted it! Connivin cat!
Please save yourself the money and don't take this class. It was mentally and physically draining especially at the end of the semester. I am going into Journalism as a major and was forced to take a science class so I had no choice, but he doesn't understand that students have other classes, jobs and other things to do and study for.
I've only been in class a few days and had to leave because my father was sick. To start, his lectures were awful. Gembitsky constantly bombards us with too much information. I try to write what he says but speaks like a cheetah. No power points, no supplement notes like other professors, just pure on oral lecture. Labs, he leaves and not come back
Worst professor i haver had. So disrespectful and gave a 13 page paper due 2 weeks before class ended. Barley any grades and gives a midterm and final you have no idea how to study for. Is rude to students. Avoid him at all cost! He makes the 2nd worse professor at this school look like superman!
Teacher literally falls asleep during class when he is too bored to actually teach. The content of this course is below the level of a High School Biology class. Teacher is incapable of respecting his class or showing them the time or attention they deserve. CamdenCC does nothing because Dr. Gembitsky is protected by the Biology Department head.
Prof G is the worst professor/teacher I have ever had. He was completely unprofessional and unorganized. We spent more time watching cat and prank videos than doing actual work. He would fall asleep in class and ended up only giving 2 tests in which study guides weren't helpful. Assigned multiple 5-7 page essays with less than 2 weeks of class.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!! This will be your biggest regret of life. He does not teach, he seems unsure of himself or slightly uneducated. He does not like explaining and expects you to just know things. Also, he has a bit of an attitude. Definitely not the professor a caring student needs. Lastly, again, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS :-) spare yourself.
Do not take any of his classes! Please save yourself the stress and go with another teacher. I am a very hardworking and commited student and all this man did was stfress me out. He is not clear about test dates until a week ahead of time, his study guides are not helpful and his test is mostly made up of the notes but not easy.
He is unuclear about everything. If you are a hardworking student and want to get an A, you wont feel confident, because he never answers questions clearly. There are two exams, participation points, a binder check and a few papers due. I did not like his class, and he stressed me out because I was afraid to ask him simple questions.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! I am taking him for AP 2 and it is December... WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN EVEN 1 GRADE BACK YET! We have no idea what we have in his class. He is disrespectful and unorganized. He gives us 45 page take home tests out of no where and they have basically nothing to do with what we are learning. Wish I could write more .. DONT DO IT! RUN!!
Don't get me wrong, Dr. Gembitsky is a very kind and enjoyable individual, but when it comes to his method of teaching, chances are very likely that you'll leave class frustrated and confused almost everyday. If you do end up having him, TAKE NOTES ON EVERYTHING, because your exam study guides will only be a page long (if you're lucky).
Save your time and dont even bother taking him. He's probably one of the worst professor here. We spent a whole semester doing 30 min lectures and sat for 2 hours doing "lab" while he disappears for 99% of the class. We never received any grades back, didn't get an exam until after the withdraw date, and a final with no clear topics. Beware
What did I learn from this class? Nothing. The man skips 99% of the chapter and discuss only 1 or 2 topics from each chapter. Lecture run real short so that we can do lab. Lab consist of him leaving his students alone, and students are not allowed to be left alone in a lab! Never received one exam grade back so you won't know where you stand.
This class was a jumbled mess. we didnt actually do anything valuable until week 6 & tests were on MOVIES we watched in class. We took our midterm the class before Thanksgiving & our final 4 weeks after. 2 final papers were given that were based on MOVIES. Grading is explained but still somehow unclear. Make friends youll need the support.
The fact that this man has anything above a one is mind blowing. If I could give him a 0 I would! He has an extremely thick accent and you can't understand a word he says. Makes me wonder if they hire for qualifications or just to fill positions. If you ask questions, he never directly answers them. DO NOT TAKE HIM YOU WILL REGRET IT.
His class really wasn't that hard, but he doesn't teach it well, you have to do a lot of self-teaching. He lectures from slide pictures, so you have to take really good notes and read the textbook. My biggest issue was how he treated the students. He was rude, condescending, and a pain in the ___. Yelled at us every day just for asking questions.
I would not recommend this class. The assignments he gives are tedious and excruciating for no reason other than to waste your time. If you're good at writing 5 pages of BS about a movie starring Tom Hanks, then go ahead and take this class. If you don't have the time or patience for these assignments, then just take chemistry like I wish I had.
I have never had to do so much homework for a Biology class. He makes you write two 4-5 page essays on two Tom Hanks movies and take a 60 multiple choice test as your final. He never grades anything. He is a great person, but not the greatest instructor. He means well but talks about his cats more than answering your questions.
professor adapted very well to switching online during the pandemic, making his lectures easily accessible to students. only issue I had was the amount of work we had to do, it may have not seemed like a lot for in class, but expecting your students to write two 5-page papers on top of having two, 1 hour long modules & watching two movies yikes :/
Taking this online due to the coronavirus was mind-numbing and mentally draining. I am not a bio major, but this class demanded a lot of work and time. We had long lectures, many assignments/discussions, two long essays on movies, and a midterm/final. This class truly stressed me out. Although he is a nice/organized guy, I would not recommend him
He seemed careless about the students. He is sarcastic. His accent is very hard to understand at least for me and he is a very hard grader. I seen his rate on here and thought maybe people are exaggerating but no. Most of these ratings are very accurate. He lacks communication skills within the students and is a professor I do not recommend.
I missed two classes one being "excused" with a doctor's note and ended up receiving a non-attending grade in the class. He took forever to put final grades in and after emailing him asking when they would be in, received a very condescending email back. A couple days later he put my NA in while none of my other classmates had grades in. DROP HIM!!
Worst teacher at Camden County. He is extremely disrespectful and belittles you. He thinks he's better than everyone and believes he's always right. Insulted me to the point I felt like absolute trash. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. OH and his accent is super heavy and he is very hard to understand.
Since Bio-118 was switched to online classes, this is an easy A. All answers are on google. He assigns LOADS of work to do though, but all this work will help you learn in the class. So glad this was online, if not, I wouldn't have passed with an A!
Would not recommend taking this professor. Does not allow makeup exams even if you have good reasoning although in his syllabus says otherwise
You basically teach yourself by reading the textbook and doing assignments on several sites other than Canvas. He claims to be available but does not answer emails in a timely manner and the workload is beyond heavy. The way the material is structured is illogical and he makes the class way more difficult than it already is.
Took this class online over the summer. A LOT of busy work. Multiple assignments almost daily. But easy assignments and if you get them done on time you should have no issues. Tests were easy, multiple choice. This class was EASY online. Him as a professor in person I couldn't tell you. But online it was no headache.
Very condescending guy. Assigns a ton of assignments every week and hour+ long videos to watch. One of the most annoying classes I've ever had to take
Posts excessive amounts of work. Does not understand that people have other classes and jobs and a life. Lecture heavy with 2+ hour videos. He is smart but doesn't know how to moderate his work. I spend hours a week on busy work and I'm taking this class because its required. If you want to be stressed out for 4 months he is your guy.
Unrealistic expectations. Easily the worst professor at this school. To much work. Most stressful unorganized class ever. I felt hopeless and destined to fail.
Terrible teacher. Whenever asked for help he either doesn't respond or gives a half-assed answer. Too much work and busy work at that. Gives you no chance to get your grade up with the amount of assignments and how heavy they weigh on your overall grade. Overall terrible teacher and would avoid taking his class at any cost.
Terrible teacher. Whenever asked for help he either doesn't respond or just not answer any of your questions. Too much work and he didn't even finish grading work that was submitted. No chance to get your grades up with the amount of assignments that is heavily weighed on your overall grade. Terrible teacher and would avoid taking his class.
Teacher assigns more than 10 assignments a week on Canvas, including one-hour-long lecture videos that could just be summed up in a PowerPoint, 3 quizzes, discussions that have to be at least 200 words, and essays that are only worth 4 points. He expects you to cater 6 hours a week to this class. Says it's not his responsibility to help with proble
He leaves no room for error. I had him for an online class during COVID. Submit something handwritten rather than typed? you won't receive credit. Extremely specific assignments, No late work or flexibility. Insane workloads of 11-14 assignments a week, including multiple hour long lectures. Forget reaching out to him for help, he's extremely rude!
BIO-106 is unfortunately a required class for most non-science majors. To be blunt, for my two years at Camden County College, this professor is the toughest grader I have ever had. He issues an insane amount of work per week. I took 4 classes during the Spring semester and this class alone had MORE work than 3 classes COMBINED. Avoid at all costs.
Please do yourself a favor and dont take this class. Ive never failed a course in my life and this one was just unbelievable. 10 or more assignments a week including three hours worth of lectures. On top of that its incredibly hard to learn anything when youre constantly worried about turning it all in, especially if youre employed.
Class was taken on-line. Professor gave 2 hr lectures for each module, along with proctored quizzes, discussions w/ videos (no less than 200 words post & replies to classmates). 2-3 page essays worth 4 points. He has a very heavy accent which made it more difficult to understand most of his lectures. Would NOT recommend this class to any student.
HORRIBLE!!!! This guy has no humanity, he gives you about 15 assignments a week and expects them to all be submitted in time but he cant even take the time to grade anything. 2 weeks in and nothing is graded yet. He does not accept any late assignments even if its been less than 24 hours. He doesnt care if you have a job or children
Worst professor in my life. Who ever gave the 5 star rating was probably himself. Do not take his classes!!!! He is a a disgrace to the whole college. There is no way anyone would take this class again.
We got a textbook that he rarely uses information from, mostly uses YouTube videos or prerecorded lectures from the summer. He doesn't take questions, if you ask he just explains it the same way or interrupts you so you can't even ask your question. He's very nit-picky and I'm not sure if he can do this but he added a class after the semester ended
The teacher throws a youtube video or a prerecorded video from summer and expects everyone to know everything. He has a textbook that he doesn't use so I find myself going to it to learn what I need myself. He is also very nitpicky and when u try to ask a question he will cut you off, ending up not asking the question.
This is an interesting Professor. He teaches lots of things about the environment, different cultures and attitudes. Interesting discussions and group assignments. Takes students feedback seriously. He wants you to learn.
Assigns multiple unorganized 2 hour video lectures all due by the next class, exams worded poorly, loves to waste your time. I had more work to do for this class over spring "break" than the 5 other classes I take combined, and it was all busywork. Prof has nice moments, but taking this was a mistake. Just take chem and save yourself the trouble.
This is the worst class/ Professor I ever had in my entire college career. The Professor loads you with so much homework, with 2hr+ lecture videos that all can be condense into smaller parts and this is every week. He grades assignments very late as well. There has been a significant amount of people who had to dropout. AVIOD TAKING HIS CLASS.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR'S CLASSES!!! I cannot warn you enough. I truly don't know how CCC allows a professor with such poor reviews and feedback to keep teaching. He assigns WAY too much work. The cultural mentality is obvious. don't take his class, don't even register. If enough people don't take his class, the Dean will notice.
Absolutely horrible. I can't believe the school allows him to do this to students. He does not care about you, about your life, or about you retaining anything. There are 25-30 hours a week spent on this class and that's still not enough. You can't process anything you're learning, theres way too much work. And you can't pass without doing it all.
Worst professor in history. The workload is INSANE. even for a regular semester. I promise you WILL NOT get an A or B in this class. He doesn't respond to any emails. Only assigns work from Wiley. He does absolutely nothing. I went to the Dean about this teacher and they are well aware of problems students have with him. CCC needs to get rid of him
Took this guy as a pre-req for Dental Hygiene in Spring 2022 and he is not a good professor. The amount of busy work he gives is SO, SO, SO much. He doesn't do PPT. No notes. No lecture. Only gives pre-made homework, labs, tests, quizzes. He does NOTHING. Must be nice doing nothing and collecting a check. It's like you don't even have a teacher.
OMG.. this class was a NIGHTMARE. It gave me so much anxiety. SO SO SO much work. You will spend hours and hours doing work. The dissections are also a NIGHTMARE. Tests are extremely hard. This prof gives ZERO lectures. You teach yourself. You either read every page in the textbook or fail. Seriously. Lockdown browser for every test. Not worth it.
To students taking A&P II online with this guy in Winter 2023...good luck. Hardest class EVER. You teach yourself all of the material. The class is SO expensive online with all the stuff you have to buy. Tests are EXTREMELY hard. Nobody in my class passed his tests. NO ONE. Dissections are MISERABLE. If you're trying to get into a program, good luck
Absolutely skip this professor if you can. He is by far the worst professor I've ever taken. He assigns an obscene amount of homework weekly. If you have a life outside of this class - good luck. I am a student with disabilities. He refused to accommodate me without a note from my provider, even though I am registered with student disabilitys.
Will not let you into class even a few minutes late
This class was very difficult to keep up with. Not just because of the amount of work, it was also due to the lack of lectures & accessibility. You are only given textbook pages to refer to. You also have to dissect specimens from home- this includes an entire fetal pig. He is not easy to reach at all & he does not follow disability accommodations.
Took Dr. Gembitsky for AP2 6 week course. lots of reading and homework. Labs are mandatory to pass. He often gave extensions pass the due date because of the amount of work that needs to be completed for this class. Very prompt with responding back when emailed and overall just very kind and understanding. lockdown browser for exams ( proctored).
Never again. Realistically this is the most unreasonable professor ever. I have yet to finish the class and it is terrible. We recently had a mid term that the avg grade on the class was a 16 out of 50! Are you serious and guess what, NO CURVE. Teacher is horrible makes me throw up in my mouth.
has ridiculous standards for students to meet, especially online. has no compassion for students and their daily lives. is on a permanent power trip that no student should have to endure!
He is an embarrassment to the school. He does not answer messages and wrote a highly offensive and harassing message to me. He wants you to fail. Every review here is accurate. CCC, you are doing students a disservice by having him remain employed by you. It is a blemish on your reputation.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! The last week of the semester he gave us a 5 page essay to write about a history movie! HISTORY! last time i checked its BIOLOGY! Anyway he gives very few assignments and will not help you even if you ask. Asked him for help before and he said it's not my place.WHAT! Ontop of if all he has a thick accent you can barely understand.
Not a big fan of his class. Lectures were very long and he doesn't make his lessons engaging for students. Also, he gave us an assignment THE LAST WEEK OF THE SEMESTER and made it an a 4 page essay that was unrelated to Environmental Science.
This professor is Tenured, to start off. Avoid at all costs, even if he has an online course, don't take it. He is very unorganized and rather than have a full lesson plan, he plans day to day. Sure, the in person class is a walk in the park and he doesn't give many tests/homework, but it is a waste of your money. Do not take this class.
The first half there were a lot of HW assignments and quizzes weekly. 2nd half of the semester there was rarely any quizzes or homework there was at least 1 lab a week that was time consuming. 3 exams- all proctored. The professor is very disorganized and felt like he did not want students to succeed in the class. which was very discouraging.
the Dean at CCC is very aware of issues students have with Gembitsky, but he is tenured and enjoying the great health benefits CCC offers their staff. This professor is HORRIBLE. dont take A&P 2 online. He'll rewatch the entire video of you taking your test from Lockdown Browser, but won't enter grades then un-publish the course. Dean is AWARE!
I took A&P 2 online twice with this teacher and failed. He grades very hard.Labs are 30% of your grade(which is fine)but even if you do all the labs, he picks apart any little thing wrong and takes off many points.I got points off for not capitalizing 1 letter on my lab presentation. His lectures are lengthy and not interesting.Would not recommend!
A lot of one-hour lecture videos and quizzes, but they are similar to the exams. When studying for the exams focus on the video lectures, not the articles he provides. The workload is insanely heavy and time-consuming. He is very sassy over email. I honestly, don't recommend taking this class, see if forensic science aligns with your major.
Do not take this class. I cannot say it enough. I was an honors student with a 3.8GPA only to have it wrecked by Dr. Gembitskys inability to help his students succeed. The Dean // school knows all of these things but no one does anything about to. A horrible way to end an otherwise excellent experience at CCC.
doesnt care about student effort put into the class. Many assignment/quizz early on&lab heavy in 2nd half w/ little guidance beyond a vid on how to complete lab. No grading leniency. All lockdown exams which are timed at 1 min/question&CANT go back to a question.all the exams are 4+ ch with no outline/study guide when each ch contains much material
He lectured heavily, lots of dissections, exams r only open for 24 hrs & r mandatory to pass, u cant miss a single assignment/exam. I am being forced to retake this class bcuz i need to maintain a C. He's condescending & does not respect anyone. Watch his videos & take notes, do ur dissections w/someone so ur vids r less than 10 mins. Good luck!
Lots of work and dissections, but unstuckstudy AI helped me prepare for the tough exams. Lectures are lacking, so self-teaching from the textbook is a must. Not the most engaging class, but manageable with the right study tools.
To start he does 3 1 hour lectures to match 3 labs and proctured 3 quizzes with a smart book chapter/s a week so the work load is very heavy. He doesn't respond to emails and when he does its always pushback. I was going to graduate with honors but no thanks to this class. If you are a non science major or if you are don't take this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! I repeat, DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is so condescending and rude. I now have to retake this course I wish I listened to the reviews and waited a semester but I didn't listen. So I'm here to warn anyone else that came here for answers. He requires so much it's unrealistic and disturbing. Goodluck.
This man is tiring. He rambled on for 3 hours about useless dreck. The labs we did were meant for actual first graders. He is a terrible professor, is derogatory toward students, and once threatened to withhold a study guide from us. He is the worst professor at CCC. Drop the class IMMEDIATELY if you get him as a “professor”
I don't know why a lot of people hate on this guy. I had a great time taking this class. DO NOT let the ratings fool you. Our class seemed to have a great time taking this class. Make sure you take notes and participate to earn a good grade.
Screencast are not easy to understand. Has a cat meowing that sounds like it's in pain in the background. I can't even focus on the lecture when there's a cat meowing sounding like they are in distress not sure if the cat is OK. It meow as if it was in pain the entire Screencast. 3 exams , lots of labs h.w . Nothing gets rounded.
I would say this class is awful but most of the time it was easy. His labs are elementary level and his lectures are extremely boring. His attitude a lot of the time is derogatory, especially when answering questions. Someone had to ask for a study guide because he wouldn't give one at first. Don't take him if you don't have to.
While there are A LOT of assignments, it's frustrating to be restricted by a fixed schedule, especially in an online class that's supposed to offer flexibility. But since this professor restricts us with HIS pacing, he prevents that. A more flexible structure would better to support students with varying schedules.
EXTREMELY LONG lectures, MOUNTAINS of homework.
Midterm and final are worth 25% of your grade, none of the questions on the study guide were on the midterm HOURS UPON HOURS UPON HOURS of lectures that have the answers for the quizzes that you can't memorize unless you're a genius. EVERYTHING IS LOCKED! So you have no flexibility. NOT accept late work even if you've never been late before.
Tons of lectures, tons of homework, tons of labs, tons of information. Pacing is locked behind the completion of prior assignments. Tough to keep up and stay flexible for an online class, especially a condensed summer course.
Produced a very difficult course where as someone who enjoys school, absolutely hated getting involved with his class. Unfortunate because I had interests in the course topics, but this course was entirely dreadful. Passed by .5 points
Listen, the Living in the Environment class wasn't THAT difficult, but the professor drags the class, wastes time, and doesn't properly prepare students for anything. For example, he told us to ask questions about our midterm (which we didn't even know we had until a week prior) and he proceeds to answer NONE of our questions. Such a waste of time.
This professor is dismissive and inflexible, with strict attendance and participation rules that can hurt your grade. Study guides don't match exams, lectures go off-topic, and requests for help are often ignored. if you miss class you get a zero. If possible, take this course with a different professor. WARNING!
Lecture heavy, quizzes didn't go with the lecture/textbook-random questions you wouldn't know unless you watched the screencasts/memorized the OFF topic things he would say. No way to prepare for midterm/final because he refused to give answers to what you missed to study. Expensive microscope-only used 3 times. Grades posted late-some not at all.
