This class was difficult. He has a strong accent, but he provides lecture notes with sample code in word format. Weekly quizzes and homework. Keep up, because if you fall behind, you'll be lost.
I never went to class and got an easy B. He has a good curve. Make sure you know someone in computer science to help with the assignments.
He cought half the class cheating on the homework and ended up giving them zero pts for it. His weekly quizes are difficult, but the programs are pretty basic. This class is a basic introduction to C++. It's pretty much useless for a job on the outside...
He's not bad. Quizzes can be tricky. As long as you do homework and take every quiz, you should pass. Even if you can't do some of the homework or extra credit, do it to get some points out of it. For good grade - don't fall behind! & do well early!
Class is so boring and I learned nothing out of it. However, you just need to come to class everyday & don't miss a quiz or homework. If you do all that you are guaranteed to pass. Make sure you know some comp sci major that can do the hw for u.
If you get a tutor you can pass this class. Don't even bother going to class. Show up for the tests and go see Tam Vu who is a great tutor on campus.
First, dont buy the book-useless and is written by another professor at CSUF.If you go to class and listen and take notes in the workbook you'll get an A,, study the workbook they are tests. He doest make it interesting but the topic is not so its ok.
He is a mean teacher. He does not answer your questions. He puts people down for asking something and if you ask other he will get mad and laugh at you. He puts people down. He does not explain the subject well. DONT TAKE HIM
Don't read the text book but you need the problems at chapter end. Come to every class, take notes in class from his workbook and practice the similar problems from the book. If you follow this, there is no reason not to get an "A" in this class
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE teacher!! don't take him.
Although this class was difficult, I still managed to get an A in the course. To get by in the class, study the book and ACTUALLY DO YOUR OWN PROGRAMS!!!.. it helps out alot.. his quizzes can be tricky but he has a really great curve..
Don't take this guy!!! Like other people said, he is very mean and likes to make fun of students. His English is horrible!!! Don't buy the books!!! He doesn't even use them except for the last 2 weeks. I don' know how they let this guy be a teacher, he isn't even knowledgable about this subject. He just teaches what he wants to. He SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
this class sucked. he's an OK guy.. he's NOT very helpful at all. he's really pushy. you don't need the book, so don't waste your money.1st test is review of 361a, second test was pretty easy, 3rd was kinda hard, final was hard as hell.
He has very limited English. You can barely understand what he is saying; therefore, it is so hard to learn in his class. (Harder Grader, does not have a good personality, Terrible teacher, 1/3 of his class fails)
I don't know why everyone said Dr. Minh is hard. He has a great curve. 50 % is C. you dont need to attend to his class everyday, Just read the book. I got B- for his class!! as far as I know if he gave T/F most of the answer is F and multiple choice is all of those above.(He is funny) lol He is a very nice person too. You should take him.
EASY TO PASS WITH A C. BECAUSE 50 PERCENT IS C. EVERYONE PASSED. BELIEVE ME
Dr. Minh looks serious, but he is a nice guy. His test is not easy, but the curve is great. If you study his handbook carefully, plus the big curve, it is easy to get B and above. Also, the material for each test is not a lot. He is a good isds teacher.
he's definetly not one of the best teachers, but he isn't that horrific. he's boring, has an accent and lectures off his book. hard subject to begin with, his exams are very hard too. Thank GOodness for the curve though, everyone would've probably failed without it.
i agree with other comment about him being rude and bad english. But, if u just wanna pass this class, i recommend him bcuz 1) His test are multiple choice and from his couse packet. 2) No HW colleceted. 3) No need to buy TB and save money. Just guess on the test and passing is 50%. easy B or C when compared to other instructors

worse IDSD teacher ever. can't teach, tests are crazy, very tricky and confusing, extremely tough with grades. hardly anyone passed, i got a D and i'm on the dean's list, or at least was. didnt learn a thing from him all semester.
I HATE HIS CLASS.. he has major issues, an attitude problem and doesnt give a damn about students. cant teach. tests is extremely difficult. of my study group of 8 people, only 2 barely passed the class. i wouldnt recommend him, take another teacher who can actually TEACH!!
This professor is one of the worst teachers on campus! First of all you cant understand him b/c of his accent. Second he is unwilling to answer questions. Doesnt give enough examples and expects you to learn the material, do not take him!!! I have no idea how he is still teaches at an accredited school. I need more than 350 characters to describ
he is definitely a horrible teacher. Even i pass his class with B but i learn nothing in statistics. I don't know why cal state Fullerton hire such unqualified teacher.
WORST TEACHER EVER! HIS CURVE IS VERY GENEROUS BUT IT IS STILL HARD TO PASS HIS CLASS. HIS ENGLISH IS HORRIBLE, AND HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENTS. HE DOES NOT LIKE TEACHING! YOU ARE LUCKY IF HE ANSWERS ONE OF YOUR QUESTIONS B/C HE IS SO RUDE THAT HE WILL TELL YOU STRAIGHT OUT THAT HE WILL NOT REPEAT A STEP,PROBLEM ETC. STUDENTS COMPLAIN!
This class has only exams. So for those you want a class without homeworks/quizzes, then I recommend him. Everyone can pass his class, you only need 50 and above plus he gives extra credits. Be warned - his first and last exams are difficult but the two in-between you can get an A or B. Wish I had taken him for 361A.
He is so super horrible teacher. I agree with all bad comments others rated him. He was always got an attitute everytime students ask questions. Everyone in my group hated him. We just can't beleive that he is still around. I think he enjoys failing students. DO NOT TAKE HIM. We need to get a life.
WORST PROFESSOR!!! Never respect students. Who employ him to work for Cal State Fullerton?
He is the most mean profossor!!! Can tell from his name.
He will treat you alike an idiot if you ask him question.
Agree with those previous comments. Bad thing about this guy is his attitute. Doesn't want to answer any questions in the class. Good thing is this class is much easier than ISDS 361A. You can pass with 50% (C). 80% or higher is A. No homeworks. Just 4 exams throughout the semester.
worst professor!! do not take!! although his curve is very low, its still extremely hard to pass his class!! and he is impossible to understand... not a good teacher.
Great curve (50% is a C). The subject matter is much more straight forward than 361A. He's not really helpful but there's only 4 tests, no homework. Don't buy the book, just his study guide. Take this teacher if you can learn by yourself.
He's not as bad as people say. He gets the job done by teaching only the material you will see on the test. No HW, doesn't take roll & reviews the exact test. The material makes more sense than 361A & it's actually useful in the real world. The class is really not that hard & it's only 1 hr long twice a week. Study a bit & you'll do fine! Trust me.
this guy's class is very easy. All his exams are scantrons and 80%=A. Take this class for an easy A
DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!
He is not as hard as people said as long as you read the materila in the study guide. Final exam is the hardest one even though you read the material you still don't get it. Therefore, make sure you did a good job in the first three exams, then you will still be able to get an A. His attitude is the worst, so don't bother to ask him questions.
Don't take his class!! He is the worst and imbecile professor in Fullerton. His interest is to insult you.
He is actually a very clear teacher once you get past his accent. He explains things clearly and uses graphs and many examples to help you understand. I found his class way easier than 361A. He shows you the test before-hand so you know EXACTLY what to expect. Open notes test. Book isn't that helpful, but you live by the study guide!
I am amazed that someone who can barely speak english can teach at the college level. If you want to understand your teacher, don't take him. He will also insult anyone who asks a question. Very arrogant mean man, and he's stupid but thinks he's a genius. I wanted to beat the crap out of him during each class. WORST TEACHER EVER!
He does have a little accent but its not bad. He is very clear about what he wants you to know. He shows you the tests beforehand, and they are open note. Just go to class and pay attention. 50% is a C, a frigin MONKEY can guess on a mulitple choice test and get a 50%.
You will never understand what does he teach. He teaches his own material that different than textbook. If you think that you study textbook and his note to pass his class, you will fail his class because his test is totally different than his lectures. Drop his class and find another profesor if you want to pass ISDS 361B.

like many stats teachers, he sucks. Small asian with mysterious hispanic accent. Tough to understand, but 50% is a C. He may sucks, but compared to other stats teachers, he sux the least.. take him
Easiest stats professor bar none. Exams are multiple choice AND you can bring in anything to take the test. Notes, book, anything. Studied the night before the exams and so far have 100, 100, & 100. It's a GPA booster for sure.
Class is very easy and professor is cool in terms of the clarity on what he wants you to study for the exam. There's nothing wrong with people who have accents. Just study whatever he goes over in class, you'll get an easy A.
HIGHLY recommend! 55% is passing, and hes super clear and shows you the test with the numbers missing so you will know the exact types of questions covered. he has an accent, but hes actually really funny if you give him a chance. would be a very easy A if you just show up and take the notes, dont try teachin yourself tho!
very easy prof! Got an A w/o buying textbook. Just study his notebook ull be fine. 3 m/c tests and final. shows u test beforehand so you know what kind of questions are on it. If you are decent at math this is an easy A. If you suck at math, pay close attention to his lectures. No tricks, test questions are exactly the same as examples in class
This professor is rude &, definitely, doesn't like his job. It's not too hard to pass though; if you attend class & ask questions (& read the book), you'll be ok. Make sure you don't ask him questions after he already covered the subject though, he'll just say "I covered it already"; so if you can, try to NOT take his class, you'll be better off.
Easy class if you come to class, take notes. Most of all, do the homework. Usually, 10 to 15 problems. The test is exactly like the homework. I was busy with a heavy courseload, working, and did not give it my best effort, so getting a B is not that bad. Only those that did nothing got lower grades.
Awful professor! Very hard to understand, VERY. Avoid the guy or you'll end up with a bad grade & you wont learn jack.
Very clear and straight forward. I is better to come to every class to know the material. Tests are not challenging at all. They are straight from the homewirk problems. Got an A without any problems. Good luck.
I don't know what everyone complains about. He's as clear as possible about what he's teaching. Shows you the test beforehand. He's on a standard curve now but nobody should have much trouble as long as they pay attention and actually study a little for his tests. Test 1 and 3 are tough. 2 is very easy and 4 is moderate.
This guy is just an awful professor. He cant teach… He speaks low, uses bad grammar, and its just extremely difficult to understand him. I dont recommend him at all, take any body else.
Drop his class and find another profesor if you want to pass ISDS 361B.
He is the easiest professor for statistics. There are four exams (the final is NOT comprehensive), an extra credit assignment, and an easy project worth 5% of your grade. The exams are directly from his lectures and are similar to the examples he does in class. He even shows you the test beforehand. Its an easy A if you have common sense.
if you know how to focus, this will be the easiest stats course ever taken. earned a A and breezed right through it. everything is straight forward and as long as you study before you will be fine. open book and notes
Minh can be strict and uptight at times, but he is a great professor. His teaching method is very straightforward and tells you exactly what to study to prepare for his exams. His note packet is extremely useful and makes it easy to follow along in the class. Review the notes and problems he does before the test and you'll get a good grade.
One word best described him, "a robot". Statistically speaking .0000000001 chance that he will smile. However, he's a good teacher and DOESN'T TRICK ON THE TESTS LIKE OTHER PROFESSORS. Tests are HARD
I have to agree that Minh has a very robotic voice and attitude. Besides this, his teaching methods are pretty good. Not only does he go over what will be on the test, he SHOWS YOU the actual test! Easy class to pass as long as you attend class and actually try.

he makes alot of mistakes during his lectures which is frustrating. obviously has lost his interest in teaching. the material isn't too hard but the test sucks. the way he presents the questions makes things confusing. i'd recommend taking skordi. had him for 361A, and was a great instructor.
HORrible teacher. By far the worse teacher ive ever had at CSUF. obivously hates his jobs maybe even his life. looks depressed everyday. Doesnt really try to help his students. Loooks like hes there just to be there. Dont take him. Class wasnt that hard but he gives it a horrible experience.
3 TESTS 12 questions mc each, 1 Project. Lectures are unclear but you must try to understand because it is impossible to teach yourself the material. His tests cut out all the simple questions. No Extra Credit half the class is borderline. First test impossible, second easy, third moderate, final moderate. Not helpful, doesn't answer questions.AVOI
He really cannot teach statistic, the material is already difficult and he DOESN't make it any easier. Its very hard to understand what he teaching or what he is saying. Try to get with a buddy otherwise this class can REALLY kill you.
why does csuf even have teachers like him??? a very very horrible teacher, useless i should say. He doesn't help students in anyway or explain clearly. A very USELESS TEACHER, HE SHOULDN'T teach at csuf!
Attendance is not mandatory but is a must. You can also receive 2% extra credit for attending. the whole class is out of 50 points. 4 exams worth 47 points and 1 project worth 3. No need for the book just make sure to buy his book of notes. Open book and open note test. Multiple choice. Shows the exam beforehand.
His class can be easy if you go to class and study. Everything is straight foward, so just study his notes and examples and you're good.
You only have four exams and the final isn't cumulative, but the tests are open book and notes. You have to go to class in order to pass the class, and study his notes. He gives extra credit sometimes if you show up on time to his class.
Worst professor i have ever had. Very strong accent, not loud enough, writing not legible, locks you out if you are late, doesn't curve, his tests are very short and worth too many points per question, boring lecture, does not provide help even when he says he does, doesn't like to answer questions during class, does not make himself available.
first class i have had to retake...i warn you. DEFINITELY EVADE HIS CLASS! Take Gupta instead. He's really cool and considerate.
I don't know watup with all these whiners in here. They probably don't go to class or lazy as hell.He is so easy and tell you what's going to be on the test ahead of time, open book and notes. I always study 2 hours before the test and I am getting 67 out of 70 points now. Just don't skip class and follow his notes and do the exercise.
Okay first of all stats is hard to begin with and when you get someone you cant understand and is a jerkface it makes it even worse. His is not easy what so ever. He's on the list for crappy teachers.
predictable teacher. show up to class and you will do fine, especially when he gives you a glimpse of what his exam is through the computer projector. if creative, bring in a video camera to capture the moment, as a regular still camera will be too slow to catch.
You have to go to class and he doesnt answer your questions when you ask him...the second exam is really easy but the other exams are really tough...his test are really tricky..
Go class ON TIME cuz he gives you 2% extra credit for being there. He gives you a C if you get 65% in his class. Also his tests mostly consist of 12-14 questions only so read the questions carefully since most of them are similar to the note and exercise. Easy class if you follow his material. 1st test B 2nd A+ 3rd B final A+ project F, overall A
Fair and straightforward. If we could clone Prof. Minh students would score only A & B. Why other instructors like to trick us. I learned a lot and will remember all that I learned in his class. That's the goal of educating people, not confusing people.
First of all, this is a super difficult subject. Prof Minh grades fairly and helps ya make it through so you can pass this crazy class. He shows you a sample test really quickly instead of a study guide. He's a lil' hard to understand but I would definitely take him. I would recommend sharing the books, especially the one from the copy place.
Minh is pretty cool, he'll tell a few corny jokes here and there and since it's coming from him, it's funny. The material isn't hard at all but attendance is a must since you get extra credit on certain days. I had him over the summer and the first two tests were pretty straight forward, but his final was extremely tough but got a good grade.
Took minh over the summer, the class was pretty easy. We had 3 tests. The first two tests was easy, and the last test was hard. Dont really need the text book just buy his book. Attendance is a must to understand the material. He also gives you 2 points extra credit for showing up on time. Overall easy teacher if you attend class and study!
His teaching is concise & fast. Whatever he taught, it will be on the test. There are no trick & the test is very short; therefore, you will have a lot of time to do it. Relaxing class & easy A if you're willing to attend the class every time & pay 100% concentration in him. He is rough & don't expect him to help you. You better listen when he said
Took the class in the summer. You can get an A just follow what he taught and said. Rarely used the textbook, but needed for practicing chapter 2 and 3 problems (linear programming)to do well on the exam. Total of 3 exams in the summer. Make sure you do well on first two exams to provide you enough cushion against the last, somewhat difficult exam.
Prepare your questions on what he will lecture because that will be the only time you will have to ask. Do not expect him to help anyone after class except for female. Do not expect to learn anything from him.
WORST PROF AT CSUF!Doesnt curve when class average is an F(3/4 failed). Yells at you if you ask questions. Unapproachable. Doesnt care about students or the success of students. Cant understand what he sayss. Been teaching 25 years so he cant get fired so could care less. Wont curve even if you have a 69.99%. Everyone I knew in class 8+ failed.
Today was my first day with Do Minh. I will absolutely try everything to get into a different 361b class. He seems stiff, monotone, uncompromising, unnecessarily difficult, hard to understand... I think he must be from a communist regime; at least that is the impression I get.
ONE OF THE WORST teachers. Can't understand what he is saying, isn't helpful, nor encouraging. He tells the class first day most will fail. It seems like he gets off on failing students rather than helping them learn and acheive. AVOID!!!!
haha I've decided to include an excerpt from his syllabus to help students decide whether to take this class: "If you miss a class, please do not expect me to go over the material for you in my office hours. These hours are used to help you with any particular questions or problems you may have (BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK IN CLASS)." haha wow
a VERY HORRIBLE teacher!! He should be banned from teaching this course. He has a hard accent and its very difficult to even understand what he is explaining. He's a cold person with no sympathy for students. He won't care about how you are doing in the class. He's just there to see you pass/fail.

I can't stop laughing after I read the comments below. Dr.Minh isn't all that bad if you really have average IQ. I didn't do the project and still managed to scored an A in this class. I didn't skip any classes but I didn't ask him any questions/go to his office also. Most of the times study 2 hours before exam. No problem understanding him.
The person whosaid just study 2 hours before test and get A? He must be a geneous. 2nd & 3rd tests are not bad, but 1st and last tests are hard. But he doesn't want help you. recomend to look for a professor who curves grade. He doesn't.
In all honesty, Minh is not as bad as people say. Yea, he's not helpful at all but his notes really help. If you just go through your notes and do the suggested problems, you'll be more than fine. I got 100% on all his tests because I did problems. He lets you see the test one day before so memorize the questions and focus your studies on that.
This class is the first class I have ever failed in my life. He doesn't curve, doesn't care about you, and is hard to understand most of the time. Please avoid all the stress and pain and don't take him if you can. I took him because he was the lesser of two evils. An evil nonetheless.
No nonsense type of guy. He is there to teach the material and doesn't like it if you waste his time. If you are going to ask a question make it a good one. I believe he will help you if you are trying and you ask. Pay attention, take good notes and do some practice and study before tests and you will be fine.
STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! This guy is the worst professor I have ever had! Talks and acts like a robot and really doesn't care if you don't understand the material. Doesn't curve although half the class failed. Is that even legal?
This professor is very thorough in his explanations. For the summer course you can purchase the notes at the bookstore and just fill in the blanks as he lectures. He does not curve grades, but does give some extra credit. Great teacher so far. Just don't take him if you have a hard time with accents-it's not any worse than other stat instructors.
He's an AWFUL professor. Does not want to help students or teach. Very lazy and gets a kick out of torturing students! Went to tutoring and office hours but very unhelpful. Does not curve BEWARE!! I HATE HIM!!!
WORST TEACHER EVER!!! doesnt care about student, doesnt teach well, is absolutely a terrible teacher. do not take this teacher unless you enjoy torture.
Professor Minh is not as bad as everyone puts him to be. This course is difficult, but doable. I recommend to take him...honestly its not that bad.
He does not like to spoon feed answers because it is college, if you pay attention and took notes you should be able to pass. He has statistical excel table which helped cut time in calculating. People who gave bad ratings are not trying and want to pass just by showing up.
Minh is very straightforward. If you just sit there, listen, take notes, and study, you'll pass with flying colors. I got an A+ in this class, 100%. Go to class everyday in order to pick up the extra credit points. He doesn't curve and he is a little dull. Remember that this is a university, nothing is handed to you, you must work for it.
He thinks his teaching position is secure that he doesn't care of his students, except for good looking females student. His exams base on the book. His lectures is basically short-cut that he created, but could confuse you when applying it on the exams.
Class is structured well. Exams are not hard if you go over notes and homework beforehand. That being said, lectures are dry and the professor's personality is even drier.
4 exams, 1 project. Total class = 100 points (2 pts of extra credit possible for being to class on time on randomly selected days). 80% of material is directly from notes. Buy the $15 professor-made spiral book and fill in the blanks from the PowerPoint in class. Fill in the blanks, practice the problems in the other textbook, and you'll be fine.
This professor is very boring! He created a course packet which is about 10 bucks so don't buy the book! His test are somewhat like his notes, so just go over his notes and you will do fine. Come to class no time because he gives extra credit, its not a lot of points but it will help!
Teacher is horrible at teaching..his tests are confusing..he goes over definitions more in class than problems..and test is all problems..doesn't care about students! DO NOT TAKE HIM!..HE SUCKS!
Honestly, this professor is not so bad. It is true one what people say about he is NO HELP AT ALL AT HIS OFFICE HOURS! dont buy the book..he has a course packet you can buy for $10. Make sure you attend his class(random pts are given) PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE GOOD NOTES! ITS EXACTLY LIKE THE TEST. first test was hard but i could have done better.
The first test was kind of hard but if you know the material and study it's an easy pass! the problems he give out is similar to the test questions! Although i barely passed the first exam... the second one i got a 100%!! No projects because of furlough days=no time.. SHOW UP TO CLASS thats the only way you will learn.for office hours he is NO HELP
The first test was kind of hard but if you know the material and study it's an easy pass! the problems he give out is similar to the test questions! If you have a grasp of statistics, you can pass this class. You'll have to teach EVERYTHING yourself if you want an A. Typical stubborn / hard-headed professor, can NEVER admit to being wrong, thinks students are all idiots. No help what so ever, cannot explain any concept with a salt. Too bad he's tenured. Should be fired for incompetency.
Despite I'm Viet, honestly Minh is HORRIBLE. Sad depressing guy who lecture like robot. Since he doesn't know how to teach, 90% of the time the class is clueless. If u in Fall, there is 1 project. Doesn't care if students understand like doesn't care if you have enough time while he fly through his lecture 70mph.
M/C Tests 4-12 Qs, max 106 pts semester,NO: curve,powerpoints,study-guides,digital notes, excel teaching. Classes scared to ask questions, workbook, keller 361A book & 361B. No assigned homework or review. Very unhelpful, won't answer e-mails,doesn't even try. 2pts max extra credit for attendance/ 4 random days based on login by class start.Gd luck
For everyone 1 person that just gets it and is good at independently studying for stats... 20 people FAIL. The rest struggle to get C's. Don't listen to biased reviews and raters that just breezed through this class from self study.
Too bad this teacher is tenured. Minh Do, is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Ridicules you for asking questions during class, yet he doesn't even give you time to ask questions after class. No help at all! His accent is also very hard to understand. Avoid at all costs. His exams are nothing like his practice questions either.
The good: open book tests. The bad: They're still very hard and very poorly written, and he's a just plain bad teacher. You don't have very many good options for ISDS, but you would probably do well to avoid this guy.
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!!!!!!!!! i like math!!..got a 95% in isds361a..got an F in this class... when i'd ask him a question hes answer "if you don't know that i cant help you"... great help huh?!!!
I've never left a review until now. This teacher never answered anyone's questions in class. He would ask the student to stay afterward, even though most of us have classes to get to. Very unhelpful, hard to understand. And the tests? Insanely difficult. Passes 361a with an A-. Failed 361b with him. Warning: Do not take him.
You bomb one test you'll be lucky to get a C. You could have an A before final and get a C ,or B and Fail. I know 3 people that passed his class in 2 semesters. 361A Students with A's regularly FAIL. I Aced the final and got full credit for project. 90-99% will not be so lucky, final is IMPOSSIBLE; multi-possibility math reading comprehension.
Very smart teacher, he makes his lessons very clear, simple, and easy except that if you make a mistake you might lose multiple points and no curve. But he makes everything very simple to understand better than the book.
Ok, first off i went into his class knowing only his RMP rate & omgoodness, during the 1st week u'll hate him. But later u'll realize he actually is a good professr. He goes over it very clear in his NOTES. Just go to class and understand that you can't pass this class unless you STUDY . DO MOST OF THE HW & write clear notes.
Summer session: Got an A, me regularly being a C student. his test are based on his handbook so you know how he structures his test. He comes off mean so don't take it personally.Grades by points, 70 pts to pass. First test is the hardest and the other two are easy.I recommend him if you atleast pay attention cause he shows you shortcuts
Summer Session: This teacher knows his subject well. He is helpful if you ask him, and willing to work with you to get you to understand it better. His grading is very clear and you know where you're at in the class at all times. He can be difficult to understand at times, but his "reader" helps you follow along and helps teach shortcuts.
I actually thought his class was pretty easy. Go over the problems in the workbook and the homework problems at least 2 times when studying. Test question are exactly like the homework, just different numbers. Learn how to use excel functions to do calculations. I got almost 100% on all 3 exams doing this.
Easy A class. Good professor. 4 exams and 1 project. Just buy 15$ workbook. HIs exams are straightforward, and exactly what he teaches in workbook. Attendance is mandatory because he walks you through all material easily. Take it if u want an A class. RECOMMEND !!!
Avoid! Scantron. Avoids answering questions in class. Tutoring Center can't help because he teaches it differently than other teachers. Thick Vietnamese Accent. Doesn't post powerpoints online. Doesn't review exams. Brags about being a hard professor. Makes you do things by hand when in the real world you don't do it that way. Office hrs are a joke
All the people who are saying this class was hard, you guys are fools. First exam was the hardest and the rest was cake. All you need to do was attend class, copy all the notes, and do the homework. I managed to aced the last three exams even though I normally get Cs on my exams.
Go to class, follow the notes, and you will pass. Do not ask questions in class since it will just make him mad anyways. Review notes before exam and you will do just fine for tests. Understanding the notes is the most challenging part of the course. Do not expect professor to review anything.
Grade is based off of 4 exams and a project(we didn't do). The first exam will kill you if you don't prepare for it. It dropped my confidence a lot, but the first and second exam were REALLY easy, and the third was pretty easy. Take good notes(specifically when he goes over book problems). Go over book problems before exam. Open notesbook exam.
He's a SMART teacher and a GOOD person. Honestly, his lectures are boring because of his teaching style, but they are very CLEAR and easy to follow. Pay attention at class and study the note, then the exams are just a piece of cake.
Not an easy class he teaches things intentionally harder than it is. Book isn't necessary but he Makes you buy his notes(he makes profit off this). Half of what he teaches is unclear I ended up googling it and taught myself. Gives overall total of 2 extra credit points on random days. 4 tests no hw. Passable but Take as a last resort.
Currently taking this professor for summer 2016 and its honestly the worst class ever. Everything he goes over in class and in the solutions manual has NOTHING to do with the test. He will teach you a method to solve a problem but this method will not work at all during the test. He will also accuse you of cheating if you use the books templates.
I also took this course during Summer 2016. About the templates, he specified that we cannot use them or a test unless he gives them to us. I also got confused about this but I ASKED before i brought them up. Keys to passing this class: HOMEWORK. Do every single bit of homework that comes your way. Match the lecture with HW problems to pass.
Entire class is based on 3 tests and a final. 2% extra credit offered randomly for attendance. "old school" teacher who refused to conform to the new structure of ISDS at CSUF- 361A spends 3 entire weeks working with and learning excel, Minh refuses to use excel for anything in his class. No templates, everything is taught by hand in his workbook
Avoid this professor! Only take him if all other sections are closed. The class is composed of 3 midterms, 10 homeworks, 2% extra credit, and 1 final (equally weighted as a regular exam). Exams are most likely made up of 11 questions, meaning if you get 3 wrong thats a C already. Try getting C's and B's in exams and a perfect 10 on hw to pass.
I was scared reading the reviews before this class and admit I did not like the professor at first. However this ended up being my easiest and least stressful class of 5 classes. I got an A on the first 3 exams by just showing up and following along with his notes. His lectures are kinda meh, but his notes are like gold.
Professor Minh wasnt clear with his lectures. Didnt allow us to use computers to practice what he was teaching. Exams had few questions which freaked me out but it can be pretty easy. Textbook recommended. Attendance isnt mandatory but he randomly hands out extra credit so try not to miss. Take him if you can teach yourself & make friends in class
If you struggled with ISDS 361A then I highly recommend that you AVOID taking 361B with Prof Minh. His lectures are not clear and he doesnt offer any extra resources to help you. Its a self taught class. There are much better options for this class.
Avoid Minh at all costs! 1st exam is 12 questions, 2nd, 3rd, & final only has 11 questions. 4 random extra credit points worth .5 each for attendance. Open book and notes for exams & final so print out the hw becuase it can help. His lectures are boring and he doesn't explain the topics well but his notes are golden during exams.
Paul Minh was by far the worst professor I have ever had both at Community College and University level. His lectures are very unhelpful and when I asked him to help explain something a bit better, he told me to learn it on my own. I could go on for paragraphs but Rate My Professor only allows so many words.
monotone dry accent, but as a teacher, he's easy enough to understand. don't be afraid to ask him to clarify any concepts you don't understand in class, then he'll be more than glad to help you out. neither the worst nor best pick, but his class is quite possible to pass as long as you don't miss out too much. also i learned so much from him.
My lifelong role model. Go hail the Prince!
I received nothing but negative energy from him. He doesn't necessarily care whether or not you pass. His lectures/notes are almost word-for-word right out of the book. He doesn't let anyone follow along/learn excel while in class. If you learn by doing, don't take him. He couldn't even solve a homework problem while the whole class was watching...
Professor is straight forward and simple. NO TRICKY QUESTIONS. All test content os covered in class. It becomes difficult to pay attention after a few weeks. Show up and pay attention you will be good.
aw man, every time i come out of his class, i feel as if i've just learned a new life philosophy. no stress, only mental healing. he encouraged me in every way, shape, form, so that's why i ultimately decide to change my major from philosophy to isds. oh my, OH MY!
HE THE EASIEST ISDS 361B PROFESSOR in this department! He provides you with his personal notes. His notes is basically the exams. No power points like other professors, he's straightforward. His exams are multiple choice vs others with blue books. You will not regret it, just pay attention and put effort as you should in your classes.
He stated in the beginning that he does not help students with questions. He does the bare minimum in the classroom so he can go home quickly. he does not enjoy teaching (he even stated this, saying he hated seeing students faces), and he just wants to get paid without working too hard. The main issue: he is fed up with his situation and his job
Overall great teacher, with an excellent ability to formulate targeted test questions. His notes are comprehensive, and are good preparation for exams. Although he does not assist, he is still a great teacher!
He is not interested in teaching his students. Show up to class, cant even ask questions because he says its unnecessary . Plays videos he pre recorded and lets them play while he goes off to do who knows what. Just dropped the class because its a waste of my time.
This is a really good professor despite what the other reviews might say. He has great knowledge of ISDS and has a clear criteria for grading (Everything has been straightforward since the beginning).
I would rather say DO NOT TRUST other bad feedbacks because he is straight forward and makes the lecture easy to understand. Show up w.o the camera on is okay too, follow the pre-recorded videos that he spent time editing for us, and ace the exam. His sharings are real, not making up just to let you excited. Take him! Respected and nice & kind prof
Could care less about teaching or his students and even outright said so early in the semester. He plays pre-recorded lectures from years ago, doesn't answer questions, and gives zero leeway to students despite his own consistent mistakes throughout the semester. Steer clear of this professor as I believe he has only kept his job because of tenure.
Professor Minh retired this year but I figured I would show him some love anyway. His course is not in line with the rest of the department. He makes his own study sheets that go along with the lectures that he recorded 4 years ago... kind of hilarious to be honest. Allows notes and cheat sheet on his exams. 4 exams and homework make up the course.
