She's so strict when it comes to grading. If you screw up once, yes that sucks for you.I only have her as a lab, and in the lab she teaches you as if your in high school all over again. When midterm comes, you feel like you are in medical school.
Prof, Jones. One of the best professor on campus. I had her for my Bio 109 lab. My first grade was around c my final grade was A. I did work hard but she helped me a lot. She was always available to offer extra help. Lectures very detailed and she definately knows her stuff and very smart. I wish I can her take her for Bio 110.
great professor. She explains everything clearly and gives you everything you need to study. If you fail her class, you can only blame yourself for not giving equal participation.
She's a great teacher: passionate, knowledgable, and wants the best for her studets. She occasionally breaks during class for open discussion on ANYTHING(if it can be related to bio), uses blackboard so her notes are online, doesn't like tardiness, and the real reason you(guys) are reading, she is quite attractive(she's from Trinidad & Tobago).
Tomorrow's our final, regardless of a pass or fail the course, Prof. Jones is by far the epitome of a great teacher. at times she goes off on tangents however they all tie into the clarity of her method. I look forward to taking the rest of my BIO courses with her. Anyone who fails her classes have sabotaged themselves!
Great instructor for Bio majors and/or students needing a background in healthcare.
Very helpful professor
Never take this professor.i am sharing my personal experince I never understood what she is talking about..i struggled by myself whole semseter to get this grade.
Do you want me to be honest. Well she's a great woman. She teaches like your in high school so lecture is easy but test not so easy. But here are some reasons to sign up for her class: Reading the whole textbook yes u actually have know details. Buying that stupid study guide. and final reading her note which is just an overview of the textbook. Her job is so easy. It's you who have to do the hard work. I enjoy science but hate for that to be ruined. peace out!!!
Professor Dolisha Jones is the best biology teacher i have ever had. Her way of teaching is the best from any other teacher i have ever met before. She explains everything so good and i understand her perfectly. Shes really strict about coming late. So be on time for her lab class! you can only be 10 minutes late or you can not get into the class.
This professor is the best Biology professor I have ever come across. Her tests are really easy only if you actually take the time out to study. She even tells you to highlight or take a note of stuff that might appear on the test. In short shes awesome!I am actually so shocked from some of the bad reviews she has received because shes awesome!
she is the best professor I have ever had for Biology. she encourages her students to come to her office, even if its just to review. she is only strict about attendance, & at first you may fail her tests, but if you really stick to her advice, you'll definitely improve. May God bless her, she is simply the BEST!
Please do not take this professor. What she teaches in class is like your in high school but when the test comes and your reaction would be like like what the hell is this!!!!! Don't ever take her! You can't ever get an easy A or even a B in her class. You have to READ the TEXTBOOK! Drop out of her class!!!!
She is tough ! she moves kind of quickly, covers alot in one class, and has no mercy. she is the sweetest lady and will really help you if try. i reccomend her if you want to work for your grade.
Professor Jones is one of the best professors at NCC and one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She truly cares about her students and will go out of her way to make sure you understand and do well. She expects you to work but that's how you learn so well. She is so dedicated to her students and if you put in the effort you will do great!
Wonderful wonderful professor! Shes very fair and if you truly study you will do well on her exams. Her lab exams are a little hard but over all best professor Ive had in a while!
She's really sweet! She's young so she's easy to relate too as well. She's smart and knows her stuff!
She is a good teacher. Her lab class is great but her lecture I don't like it. She is an average teacher.
She starts out being very stern, as you move through the semester she shows a softer side. She lectures from her power points, but they have multiple spelling errors, but she threatens to take away points for misspelling on exams. Very frustrating.... The pointer needs to go!... Tests cover a VAST amount of material making studying for exams hard
I took her over a year ago, but felt the need to comment now. She teaches in a way that you learn and retain it, not just spit it back and forget. Her class laid out a strong foundation for medical micro & both A&Ps I took and I felt it put me ahead of the game. You have to work for an A, but it was so worth it! I loved her!
I was always afraid of taking the science classes that I needed. I checked Prof. Jones out on Rate my professor and I am happy I did. She is amazing and really wants all of her students to pass. She uses black board, and you have access to all her slides. She also has flexible office hours, i was meeting with her 2x a week. She is outstanding!
Very good professor who knows her stuff. Taking her class and when it comes to her exams, it's either you know it or you don't so you really have to study to get a good grade in her class. She doesn't give curves on test like most biology professors or drops the lowest grade. Good professor overall but hard grader
Good professor but makes the material seem so easy by the way she teaches, but when exams are given its a different story. Overall test are hard and doesn't drop the lowest grade or gives curves on exams like other professors
Wouldn't take her again exams are hard from how she teaches, and if you fail one of her test and pass the others that's it, might as well drop out of her class
I'm not too much of a science lover, and was actually afraid of failing due to that. Though, she took her time with the material to make sure her students understood it well, and I greatly appreciate it. Her tests, indeed, were another story - for it was a bit difficult and a tad wordy. I recommend her, none the less. I'm glad I had her for BIO 101
Def a challenge but she's great at explaining the complex info. The tests aren't hard so long as you study. But not rereading notes study, really put in time and effort. Find a way to make the info interesting or relate to it. No she's not easy, bc she wants you to learn, but she makes that extremely accessible
Prof. Jones does everything humanly possible to ensure your success. She's intelligent, genuine, polite and ever approachable. That said, you'll get the grade you earn, no more, no less. You'll have to study! Not one to inflate grades, the only curves the class should expect will be of the callipygian kind since she is quite the toothsome teacher.?
She's a great professor. She tries to explain everything so that you will understand it. I'm going to try and take her for bio 110.
DONT MISS CLASS if you dont need to. Taking her as a professor will only benefit you. She is easy to understand, uses great analogies & wants to see her students do well. Bio/science is hard in general, so if you need to take a class take professor jones!(and keep up on your studies and ask questions if you dont understand something.)
I'm takin her 109 class, and she goes incredibly fast she will say " does every get it" and she will answer herself and proceed with the "ok let's move on" mean while me and my friends are like what's going on ? The text book is incredibly expensive so that doesn't make it any easier. Her labs are super easy but her lectures suck
She's absolutely wonderful. Professor Jones loves her students and will do anything and everything to help them. I only have her for lab but I find her extremely inspirational and she makes me wanna be the best I possibly can. Though she can be a little tough, she does this so the student truly UNDERSTANDS the material . I'd recommend her to anyone
FAV PROFESSOR! currently taking her & absolutely love her! Although she is a very tough professor she's always available if you need help. She is the definition of a true college professor. She puts all her lecture & lab notes on blackboard &they're always available to you. Highly recommend her but only take her if your serious about ur school work
Such an amazing professor!! She really cares about her students and takes time to talk to her students individually. She always tries to inspire you and encourages everyone to work hard. This class is not easy but if you study you will do great. You will need to read the textbook because her tests are not easy. The grade you get is earned.
Don't get me wrong Professor Jones is a nice teacher but she's a TOUGH grader and her exams are beyond difficult! Bio 110 shouldn't be as complicated as she makes it to be but she puts TOO MUCH emphasis on Histology and grammar. Completely avoid her unless if you enjoy losing points on an exam for common spelling errors.

Lets keep it simple. -Best teacher i have ever had -Dont expect extra credit or a curve -If you take this class seriously, very easy to get an A -If your not going to treat it like a science course then don't waste your time. -First class in 3 years of college that ive actually learned and not memorized -Would take her again without a doubt
She teaches to the best of her capability and is always willing to explain further however she is a very tough teacher. She doesn't offer any curves or EC. Her tests are hard, but she prepares you for them the best you can. Not easy, but she got them cakes though. ONLY TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU'RE WILLING TO STUDY HOURS EVERYDAY
I took her lab class this semester. Like someone else mentioned, she's the first professor I've had where I actually LEARN & not MEMORIZE the material. She's a tough grader & an even tougher professor when it comes to her teaching, but it's all worth it. She makes sure to teach for real world experiences. Also, super sweet!
Amazing professor. Would definitely take her again. Very funny. Lectures are very informative. Only issue was after every exam, she will lecture the class on how we need to get the best possible grades for about 15-20 minutes.
Took 109 over the summer with her. It is a relativity tough course crammed into a month, so there are tests in lecture/lab almost every week. As long as you study the power points and attend class you'll be fine. Pay attention though!
Prof Jones is passionate about biology and passionate about teaching. She uses her own powerpoints which have all the important information from each chapter. If you take notes on the powerpoints before class, you'll get an A. She also likes to lecture the class about studying and attendance. If you're willing to put in the work, she's great.
lab - She is very nice and always positive. She will stay on a topic until you fully understand. Grade is an average on the midterm, final and paper. The paper isn't too bad, if you follow everything on the sheet, exactly. Overall, I would seriously recommend her to everyone.
Prof. Jones was such a pleasure to have as a teacher. You must go to all the the lectures or you will be lost but she gives great lectures, she's very informative and could be funny. She's a realist and will tell you straight up if your slacking and what you can do to improve. Study hard as well, you gotta study.
Prof Jones is a good teacher, she knows a lot about her material and as a person is very nice. However, she goes really fast in lecture and spends a lot of time focusing on things that don't really apply to class. Tries to give out wisdom and share personal stories too much. IMO a little too tough of a grader for a 101 course. Nice person, ok prof.
Great lectures, overall just the best professor to have for Biology. Recommend her 100%!!
I took professor Jones and I have no regrets. She wants you to learn and if you are willing to try she will help you. I never liked science but she makes learning the subject likable. She wants you to learn so pay attention during her lectures. I would 100% recommend her!
Prof. Jones is a god sent! She is seriously one of the most amazing professors/person I have meet (very inspirational). If you pay attention and study the powerpoints throughly, a good grade is not a problem. Textbook is not needed. This class taught me a lot and I am forever grateful of Prof. Jones. Everything she does is fair, not easy, but fair.
Great Prof and person. She explains her materials very well but you have to stay on top. If you're there to learn you would do just fine.. Would definitely take again. She's super AWESOME
Prof. Jones is by far d best professor I've ever had at NCC for the science class. She teaches one for the world experience. She's inspirational. If you're not serious about ur education. Don't even bother taking her class since the grade u get in her class is earned. 4 lec exams, 2 lab exams (nthng gets dropped) and one paper for one of the labs.
Professor Jones is truly an amazing and passionate professor to say the least. She explains concepts like no other and thoroughly in detail and relates everything to real life situations making hard material easier to understand. She a wonderful professor who does not give short cuts. Anyone who has failed/thinks she's unfair didn't study enough.
Class consisted of mostly Biology Majors (aspiring doctors, PTs, nurses etc.) Would you leave your own mother/children in the medical care of someone who told you they hated reading their textbooks for a college class? Study everyday and you will pass, don't and you won't. Best professor for those who take their education extremely seriously.
Prof. Jones is very knowledgeable with the course but doesnt teach well. Her class is too focused on copying her drawings she makes on the board, rather than helping us understand the material and what is going on. I improved immensely after I started to ignore her lectures and taught myself. Same goes for about 60% of the remaining students.
I would definitely recommend Professor Jones. She is amazing if you are willing to learn and develop more knowledge towards Biology, She is the rate professor for that. I love Professor Jones and if I could I would take her 1 million times again.
she's amazing! take her!
Amazing professor, kind, understanding and smart. Class is easy if you study the information. Very little assignments and thorough lectures. Would highly recommend!
She is so amazing! she tells you exactly what you need to know and is happy to explain if you don't understand something. you obviously have to do your part and study. but once you do everything you should be just fine :)
The most caring and genuine professor. Lectures are very descriptive and she uses creative ways to help her students learn. If you prepare and study your material, youll earn the grade you want.
I took Professor Jones Class and she is a great professor. However she goes very fast during lectures and there is a lot of material. For Lab You have to be there or else she will throw you out if you are more than 10 minutes late. Tests are hard but even though you have the notes online on blackboard it is a tough class I would not take her again.
Her slides are full of unnecessary information you DON'T need to know. She'll tell you to add things in on top of that. She's so overrated. She shuts the lab door if you're 10 minutes late and she'll literally hate you if she ever sees you on your phone in class. Her tests are MC but they're really hard. She doesn't let you leave lab early ever.
Tests are not hard&are all multiple choice. It's a class where you have to study to get the grade you want. No overload of work but her lectures are a lot of information. If she is going too fast she will stop&ask if anyone is lost. Def go to office hours for help. You have to speak up for yourself bc she isn't a mindreader.
A very good professor! Her lecture and lab powerpoints are very helpful in learning the material for Biology. If you study the homework that she hands out and read the textbook then you should do relatively well on her exams. I had trouble with my test grades until i read the textbook and then my grades rose up! Can't wait to have her for Bio 110!!
Professor Jones is a wonderful at her job! I enjoyed her lectures. This definitely isnt an easy class but you arent set up for failure. If you want that A you can achieve it with this class. She sets you up for successes but its your job to put in the work. She sets up office hours for any questions and is very helpful. I strongly recommend!
Her exams are super hard. I don't recommend taking ANY bio course with her. There's a lot of self-teaching in this course
She makes Bio unnecessarily hard for no reason. I did well in the class but I dont recommend
Would not recommend at all she doesnt give us enough time to complete our exams and we arent given an opportunity to do well. She doesnt offer extra credit and her homework isnt counted at all. So much for saying a grade doesnt define you but it does....
Professor Jones is more for students who are very independent, she is knowledgeable on the subject; but she isnt the best at explaining. Tests are extremely hard and very time limited. There is a lot of self teaching, so beware if that doesnt work for you!
This class was hard for no reason. Don't take this professor if you actually want to learn bio because her tests will just make you memorize a ton of stuff you don't need to know.
i would not recommend, & i passed her class with an A. she is nice & knowledgeable but sucks at explaining. she didnt offer office hours during these remote classes which wasnt helpful. her lectures are based on copying her drawings instead of her thoroughly explaining topics. do not recommend ( unless you like teaching yourself) !!!!
If you're serious about learning and working for your grade, then you'll have no problem in this class. All test are multiple choice, and based off the assigned homework. The test are not easy, but they're also not super hard. Do your homework and take notes. You will pass. If you're looking for an easy teacher, avoid.
A passionate professor with plenty of knowledge, however her tests are a bit tediously difficult. I don't think I have had more difficult multiple choice tests than hers. The homework is helpful in understanding topics but not as helpful for the actual tests. They help guide the way, but the amount of studying required is endless.
One of the best professors I have had. She breaks down complex topics into bit sized pieces, even making biochem understandable. She genuinely cares about her students too. I would take as many of her classes as I could if I were headed in the Bio direction and wanted to succeed
Extremely hard tests. She has good ratings and people like her because her tests are multiple choice but it's extremely hard. You have to be prepared to teach yourself. She's always talking about some club she's in and wants you to join but don't because it doesn't help with anything. She'll still write the letter of rec w/out you being in the club
takes attendance right at the beginning so you can't even be late. Her slides are a mess and full of so much details that she doesn't end up testing you on. Her slides are heavy and then she expects you to read the textbook as well. Don't take her.
Professor Jones was an amazing teacher. She definitely pushes you to try your best. You have to put in the work, and even if you are struggling she empathizes and is very understanding. She only grades tests, and they are all multiple choice, as long as you study like she says to do, you will pass. Just pay attention.
If you want to actually understand biology, become a better student, learn how to study then ABSOLUTELY!!! Yes her lectures are heavy, tests are not easy at all, but i am grateful because I learned so much. She really cares about her students. She even stays late after class to explain things if you need help. Taking her again now for 110!
she really specifies what you need to know or atleast will hint that its going to be on future tests. shes very good at explaining all the confusing information that comes along with a biology class. she will go over it as many times as you need and she often tells us to come to her bio club for extra assistance. shes very kind.
She explains things so well, she draws everything out, explaining as she goes and gives you everything you need to pass. The bad reviews are def people who didn't even try in her class. Taking her again for bio110and shes still fantastic. Her test are multiple choice that will def test you. Personally I love it.
Her Powerpoints need to be cleaned up because she doesn't seemed to grasp that you need to prioritize important info. When I studied for her exams I wasn't even sure what specifically I needed to know so I ended up having to memorize a ton of info which the majority of it wasn't tested. Even when she claims the tests are based off the powerpoints
Although she is very kind, she occasionally seems overwhelmed by her workload and gets sidetracked. Her power points are concise and interactive during her lectures. She is excellent at describing and depicting the labs. Two very simple multiple-choice exams that make up your grade. Unfortunately, Wesley Doody, the co-professor, was terrible.
Professor Jones is excellent. She is exceptionally caring, and wants her students to succeed. She is extremely encouraging and presents topics clearly and with enthusiasm. You have to work for your grade, which is not hard if you take her advice and study! You will do well if you pay attention, take good notes, and study for at least 1 hour daily.
Prof.Jones's lectures are top-notch, offering a deep dive into the subject matter.Devoting extra time and focus during class pays off, making the concepts crystal clear. Plus, she provides a review sheet, guiding you on exactly what to brush up on. She is a dedicated professor who genuinely cares about her students' success in the realm of science.
Her lectures are very engaging and enjoyable, but there's a lot of pressure to study for this class since your grade is only made up of exams. I wouldn't take this class with more than 2 or more heavy courses, but she tries her best to help out students in any way possible, including going over how to study- which was super helpful.
Since the grades are only composed of 6 tests, a couple bad ones could really drop your average, but if you go for her office hours she explains topics very well in a one on one environment. Cool teacher, and we have stuff in common (we both play guitar.) I've had some very pleasant conversations with Professor Jones, and I would take it again
The best professors of bio not just in NCC but compared to other schools. She made everything so accessible and understandable with drawings and her powerpoints. Do the homework and you will get a good grade. She teaches you how to study. I swear Ive gotten higher grades in other classes since I've been listening to her methods.
If you decide to take a course from this professor, you need to keep this in mind: if you don't jive with her, if you have ANY trouble understanding, you will not pass this class. I could study all day and never make headway. Rambles alot. If you have trouble in the beginning, it will not get better.
Don't get me wrong she is a solid professor. She never stays on topic. It's always talking about some random things for like 30% of the class which is frustrating. Lab portion of this course is also completely pointless wasted $120 on a notebook we never use. Offered extra credit which is nice.
