I'm taking her right now. Great teacher! She's funny, very helpful, and keeps the class entertained. Hw due once a week, but hey it's MATH..You have to practice math problems to understand the material. Tests and quizzes are similar to hw. Study guides included, which are very useful (Do all the problems on the study guide to do well on the test).

great teacher...she was easy to understand and helpful and always reminded us that she is there when we needed help...homework was not that bad...i would recommend her to everyone...

Definitely a great professor! I would take her right now for 180 if she was available. This class was not exactly 'easy,' but the fact that she teaches it so well makes the material easier to understand and do. Study guides are extremely helpful; USE THEM! Attendace is not mandatory but her class was fun and made it worth going to every time!

She is very good at teaching. As long as you do all the hw and take good notes, then you should at least pass the class. Make sure you do her study guides, they really prepare you for the exams/final. She keeps class interesting with her funny personality. And she really makes sure to try and get to know/remember every person in her class.

By far the best teacher on campus. She is FUNNY and makes the class interesting. She also has cool travel stories. Her personality mathes her beauty. My advice is to do ALL homework and do NOT fall behind. Good luck

Awesome teacher! teaches very clearly. i hate math with a passion but she made it so it was understandible (which is almost impossible for me) Likes to crack jokes too which makes the time go by faster. Highly recommend her

This was an 8 am class. I'm not a morning person, but I LOVED coming to this class. She is smart and funny, perfect combination for an 8 am math class! She is also a beautiful person, inside & out! ;) It was not an easy class, you still have to work. But she was always willing to help.

Cool professor for sure, but not an easy class. She does drop the lowest test for the final. Her lectures are clear and she is very helpful. She gives a study guide, which are all hw problems. Her quizzes are from the hw too. There is a lot of material but if you study the guides and the quizzes you will be good. Don't be scurred to ask questions.

Chavez is probably the best professor I've had. She has a great personality and is an excellent teacher. As long as you do and understand all of the HW you'll pass the class because all of her quizzes/exams come straight from the HW and notes. She gives plenty of examples and won't move on until it is clear to everyone. Highly recommend her.

Great teacher, has a lot of examples and goes over them until you understand. Recommend taking Trig and College Algebra prior to this class. Study the study guides and don't be shy asking a lot of questions as she loves teaching the subject. Class may be hard, but she teaches as well as any other professor so just study hard and you'll be fine.

Chavez is Amazing. She tries to help everyone and really cares about you. She is a good teacher, but its still a lot of work. I'm getting an A so far, but I am always at the Marc or her office hour (I don't like some of the Marc tutors)

This proffesor is pretty cool and yes jokes around at times. Funny? Yeah. Truly interested in her students success. However, sometimes found it hard to stay awake. Once she starts to lecture it get kinda boring and hard to concentrate but still recommend her class. Shes an honest professor really trying to help students pass.

I have taken this professor for math 50 as well as 71a & 7b and she is very helpful. She will let you know exactly what will be on the exams. Just take good notes and stay caught up with the homework and absolutely study and you will do well.

Math50 is a pretty easy class,and Chavez is such a great teacher,she is funny and makes sure you understand the material.She is also very friendly and willing to help you out on her own time I feel bad not taking her 4 51 but she was all booked;however,she did tell the class that we can always go 2 her 4 help, even if we dnt have her as a teacher.

Ok...so she has attitude and will embaress you in class. ohter then that shs nice ad is always willing to help a student. Her test are really really hard. Shes tuff, so study hard. Double check your exams because she does not grade fair. I had the same answers as my class mate and she marked my wrong and hers right.

Chavez is the best math teacher I had! She's funny and sarcastis but I think it made the class fun. If you cant take a joke take someone else. It's not an easy A. I think grading is fair. I took her this past spring for math 150. She did a good job at teaching us the material and since I sat in the front I learned a lot. She is funny and down to earth. She is also very attractive and charming. Just make sure that if you see her at Target to say hi to her. Or else she will tease you the next day. Overall, I highly recommend her.

She explains each chapter very well, but before I can understand it shes already on the next chapter. She moves from chapter to chapter really fast! and its hard to catch up once your lost! and her tests are just as hard. Liked her teaching but not her pace! If your not the best at math&cant handle a fast pace class, DONT take!

Chavez is awesome. this class was a lot harder than 51. especially at the end. shes funny and made it easy but gives a lot of homework. its all online but that was good for me. do not fall behind if u do then just drop its too hard

I took pre-algebra, elementary algebra, and intermediate algebra with Chavez. She's a really good teacher especially for math. She's helpful and tries to explain things so they're very easy to understand. She's also pretty funny. Her exams aren't bad. She usually gives a bonus question and a lot is straight from homework or old tests.

VERY helpful when it comes to questions, she goes at an easy pace for everyone to understand. Bonus Q's on the test from HW. Easy to understand. HILARiOUS. Definitely take advantage of her office hours for any class. She uses MyMathLab. RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE.

i took her math 130 class over the winter- and although it was allot of material to cover- she kept a good pace. She has a GREAT PERSONALITY, and class never seemed boring. She answers all questions with clarity. Her Exams are based off of lecture and homework,so review class notes.

She's pretty okay. Problem is she loves to use an online math program for hw. It seriously sucked because this was not a online class, and I was not very fond of doing math online. I struggled none the less with that part of the class. She's one with humor. If you're not totally good at math, she's probably not the best option. But stil pretty okay

This professor has great clarity, anything you ask - if you do some study on - you'll grasp. Draw back she use's My Math Lab and gives ton's of homework. YOU MUST KNOW - IN ORDER TO PASS THIS CLASS --- YOU MUST STUDY YOURE NOTES! All your tests will be off your notes - no joke, don't go of what you study on your book or on my math lab.

AMAZING PROFESSOR!! I took her for 51 awhile back and she made me fall in love with math. She is really clear on how she teaches and test are based off of homework and quiz questions. Not an easy class but if you're willing to work hard you should be able to get a good grade ( ended up getting an A) :D

Great Teacher! This was my second time taking math 51 and this time it was easier for me to follow as she explains math in a simple way. She cracks jokes but does not ramble on like some other math teachers. She is nice, approachable and willing to help her students. Uses my math lab which is a plus, for a mom like me who cant get to the MARC.

By far the best math professor I have yet to take at Mt. Sac. Not only does she really know her stuff, she teaches it extremely well! I took this class in the winter (6 weeks). Yes it's a lot of homework, but it's for your own benefit. Study always, don't leave it to the last minute. Ask questions, she is more than happy to help her students. Take!

Funny sarcasm, & nice but could not keep up with her fast pace in teaching. If your quick to learn in a minimal amount of time- take her, otherwise she doesn't have time to explain it in class because she is on to the next chapter and you have to go to her office hours, which can be difficult if you have a class before & after her class.

Great teacher, I took her for Pathways Math 5171 so the class moved. She explains everything clearly. She does give a quiz everyday before her lecture in math 51 but it is only one question. She doesn't collect homework but it does help to do it. She pulls all of her test and quiz questions from the book.

Interesting woman. Tests are really difficult. She asks for a lot of homework and she is very fast-paced. If you stumble at all, be sure to pick yourself up ASAP or you will fall behind and get lost quickly.

I took her for math 50 and continue the pathway til 71. She is really good at teaching and enjoyed the class very much. This class really makes you push yourself since the class is fast pace but it is manageable. Her tough are a bit hard so studying is a must. I recommend If you grasp things fast if not take her in the normal length of time.

Great Teacher, Took her for pathways 50-71. Pulled quiz and test questions from the books chapter tests. She keeps the class interesting and fun. Just pay attention and ask questions, she is great at explaining something you don't differently. Highly recommend! Im still not that great at math but now at least I like it thanks to her.

I took the condensed hybrid class so we only met once a week. She was very helpful and clear. As long as you do the homework and complete all the handouts and study guides on the MathLab you should be fine. I'm HORRIBLE at math and i was able to pass.

Took her from Math 50-71. Overall did enjoy the class to be a math class. You connect a lot more with the people in class in the pathways program. She explain clearly. Her test were hard though in 51 and 71 so do study in advance not just the night before. The class is fast paced but is manageable. Homework is more practice and isn't collected.

Pros: she's engaging, explains concepts well, returns work/grades quickly, fair grader, & sets clear expectations. Cons: she's strict (late work not accepted), sarcastic, and teases students. She humiliates students for asking "dumb" questions. Do NOT take her if you are shy, easily embarrassed, or thin-skinned, or she WILL make you uncomfortable.

She was a smart teacher who has great personalities. I was taking her hybrid math class during the spring semester, she shared useful resources with the students, not less not more. She always approached us, solving any problems about the class. She talked funny and clearly in the videos which made the dead knowledge alive and easy to be understood

I loved her as a math teacher. She really knows her stuff, once you get past her sarcasm( which can be tough), she really is a great math professor. You have to work for your grade. While HW isn't graded, its best to do it for the practice. If you don't practice or study or only very minimally, don't expect to pass this class.

I have always hated math, but because of her I found out math its actually FUN! she always has an answer for everything. her classes are full of energy, always has something funny to say, love her stories!

Took her for a condensed hybrid class this fall. Math is the subject I like the least and this turned out to be my favorite class this semester. I wish she taught every level of math class offered.

1/18/2017 Im currently taking her class for Math 71 overall she is a good teacher knows how to talk to students, and knows what to talk about during her lectures. If you know math already or dont know a single thing about math then i recommend taking her class. I took math 50 thru math 51 with Chavez, and learned new short cuts/ methods.

I took Chavez for math 50-71 and I have to say it was the best experience I've had as a college student. She really cares about her students and goes over the material enough for everyone to comprehend. She takes the time to get to know her students, making the class enjoyable and seem shorter than what it really is. I highly recommend taking her.

favorite professor since ive been at mtsac for 2 years. cares SO much about everyone passing, will change her schedule to be accessible out of class, gives LOTS of extra credit opportunities and is super funny during her lectures always smiling & willing to help. Since Chavez is a Great professor in Mt. Sac, student should take her. I took her in math 50 through math 130. Students who got off from high school I recommend taking her. Im going to miss her.

I took her hybrid class and she was so great. She breaks it all down and gives you a million opportunities to bring your grade up and get your bad scores on homework up to good scores. She is very nice and cracks a lot of jokes. She is very easy going and will help as much as she possibly can. She even gives days IN CLASS to do the homework

my experience with her was amazing. She is such an easy going professor and easy to talk to. If you took high school algebra 2 or trigonometry it will be a breeze for you. if you struggle with math and aren't willing to work at it, shes not an easy A. you need o buy alex code, but no book so not bad. daily online aleks quizes. I really enjoyed her hybrid class. She is a hilarious person. If you need to take any math class for credit, take her hybrid class. But if you are struggling with a math, do not take hybrid class.

Hybrid class. Super great! Really cares about her students and making sure they all succeed. Makes sure everybody knows they can reach out anytime and gives her availability. Oline work on Aleks can be tedious but not very hard. Very easy class if you do your study guides and keep up with Aleks. Definitely recommend taking her class!

I took math 71+7, I highly recommend this class. I've always been good at math but hadn't taken one since 2008. B/c of her class, I have my confidence back! The Aleks hw can be challenging but if you complete it you will do really well. The tests are much easier than the hw. Just dont fall behind on Aleks. Spend at least 2 hrs a day on it!

My class was a hybrid mostly online but I did had class time with this awesome professor. She's super funny and knows her stuff, she's a fair grader and she wants you to succeed but you have to show her that you know the material. I had 15 units and this was my hardest class, there's a lot of concepts to learn so use YouTube and her office hours!

The homework is online and graded online. Attendance is not mandatory, but his used for your grade. She does give other options if her lessons are not as clear (but they are.) This professor is laid back and enjoys to talk before the lessons and enjoys to know about her students. The homework at times is heavy depending on the chapter.

I took her HYBRID class. I have a strong math background but it was kind of hard to keep up because my other class would conflict. Her lectures are great!!! If you go to her office hours asking for help then you'll do good in the class trust me. ALEKS is used, if you don't finish by the due date, after the final she will open them again for a week

Great professor. Online class is super hard but it worked for me. She is easy to talk to and always available. Bad reviews are probably lazy students lol not an easy class by any means. Definitely prepared me for my next class.

100/10 prof. Trust me, she's so friendly and try to reach out to her. She'll give you extra credits, just ask. The lectures are not boring at all. Kinda her fav student in class, lol. Just do HWs after each class, you will not stress out before exams, or quizzes. Easy A.

Took math 130 + 13 support class. Professor has awesome personality. Great sense of humor and cares for students. The lectures and reviewing material were in person in class. All assignments and exams were on ALEKS and completed from the comfort of my home. Professor was well organized and had clear expectations. She allowed extra credit.

Great professor! You get what you signed up for... lots of online work. Professor Chavez was available anytime I had questions. I kind of wish I had taken the class in person with her. It is a lot of work online. Notation is important too! You have to know how to write math

Professor Chavez is a great math professor, I would recommend attending every lecture and do as much homework as possible, 90% of the grade was tests and final tests, but if you understand most of the homework you should be fine for every test. Overall Professor Chavez is a 10/10 Professor.

Professor Chavez has a great personality and really cares about her students. The online ALEKS work can be tedious, but with help from Unstuck study and office hours, the class is manageable. Recommend for self-motivated learners.

Summer course, (Math 100) they were all very throw and done though Pearson just be prepared for daily assignments since its a short term course, Ms.Chavez was amazing very good at communicating, very understanding and kind. I got very lucking taking her class since I am not the best at math but she really facilitated that for us.

Prof chavez truly cares for your outcome for this class. If you have any questions she is not afraid to answer them. She also gives extra credit opportunities when necessary. If you show up and work hard she will notice that.
