She is super nice...if she likes you. She picks her favorites by the people who talk in class (in other words, teach for her) b/c she doesn't know what she is talking about. The class is relatively easy. Take Nekowitz section if you can, he is better.

If you talk in class, she will love you and you will get an A.... very helpful, nice, and approachable

Prof Flamiano is a really good teacher to get for this class. She is not very difficult, is available for questions, and very nice in general. Try to get her for lab section instead of Neckowitz...he's as dead as a door knob

Flamiano is a really good teacher, printing out slide shows for lectures to take notes helps a lot for the tests. Not too hard of a grader on papers and is always very approachable and ready to help her students.

She has a tendency to ramble; however, is a really nice teacher. She's extremely helpful to students who show an interest in class and a willingness to participate in lab. Study (not too hard) powerpoints as well as the readings and you should do fine.

very nice lady...lectures are extremely boring & labs are useless but you have to go b/c there is an attendance policy...1 group project & 3 papers (the topics can be kind of confusing)..material for the tests seems common sense but tests are difficult!

The lectures can be dull but sometimes interesting. Group sessions are interesting as well. Go to class, take notes and you'll be fine. She is exremely nice and wiling to help.

Very sweet lady and offers help if you have questions. The lectures can seem to drag on. Group projects, papers, and tests...don't really need to study chapter reading too deeply since the powerpoints have the important info. that's on the tests.

The letures can sometimes be boring but that is not her fault. She is fun in lab and she will help you and work with you if you need it. She loves to hear your input.

She cares a lot about her students, always asks how you are with intentions of finding out. Yes, the lectures can be dull, but it's the material, not her. She's a reasonable grader but not hard, just attend class. This lady rocks.

the lectures are boring, attendance counts and the videos covered in lectures are on each exam, she is very sweet and grades really easily on papers and projects as long as you quote the author of the textbook you will get a decent grade. she cannot answer many intellectual questions but for the tests that won't matter, overall easy B class

I learned alot from this class. I think it is very useful for your future. The test averages are pretty low for the first test, and it's one of those "i think i did well" but you get it back and you didn't. The actual class (not the lecture) is really really boring, and usually you do presentations, which she grades pretty tough on.

I LOVE THIS CLASS AND THIS TEACHER!! it's two days a week. the 1st day is a joint lecture which can be a little boring at times but the subject is really interesting. It's all about analysing the media. Her lab classes are fun. She's such a cool lady and is interested in her students outside of class. Very helpful with projects.

I love Professor Flamiano. She co-teaches my GMAD 150 class with Dr. Leighold or however you spell his name. Lecture classes are sometimes boring when HE talks. She makes lectures interesting and comprehensible. She's very nice. READ THE BOOK and TAKE NOTES. Print out the slide shows before class.

Very nice. Grades easily. Participate in lab and take good notes in lecture. Reading helps a lot. You watch a lot of movies too.

I enjoyed this class. Do your work and read and you will do well. Helpful teachers. Flamiano and Leidholt are so organized and have slides for every class.Lecture can get a little boring but the material is interesting. They post EVERYTHING on blackboard which is so helpful! Attendance is manditory. Definitely better than GHIST or GPHIL! Take it!

I love Flamiano. Most people don't because it's a class you actually have to read for (weekly quizzes). The quizzes are so easy, most of the answers are open-ended. Class is just like GMAD 150 but harder. She is so helpful. I swear I bug her with how much I go to her office hours for my papers. Weekly blog posts suck

for everyone who is taking SMAD 101 or trying to get into SMAD, TAKE THIS CLASS. it is literally the exact same material. such an easy A. i never opened the text book once because the lectures are straight from the book. you watch a lot of movies. flamiano is pretty boring but she grades fairly. participate in discussions.

This class is easy and interesting. There is a lot of lecturing, but if you can deal with that the information is relevant and applicable.

This class was pretty much a re-hash of concepts we've already been through in smad 101 and 201, plus a lot of random video clips you need to memorize the importance of. Flamiano gives decent lectures and the tests are fair

Kind of a hard class, she grades kind of tough. Would not recommend taking out of the other cluster one classes. However, Dr. Flamiano is extremely nice and helpful when it comes to the different assignments. Great professor, but boring material.

The really fun thing about this class was the amount of liberty she had with the material. She really loves film, so she took the course required material and applied it to different movies we got to watch. Some hard work towards the end, but she's upfront and wants you to succeed.

Dr. Flamiano was one of my favorite professors- she cares about her students and doesn't ask for much (minimal work aside from papers) BUT if you just show up to classes without doing the reading and put in minimal effort, this class will be boring. Take this class seriously and it will be one of the most fun and interesting in your 4 years at JMU.

This class will feel like a big waste of time but it's not difficult and she tries her best to make it interesting and relevant. We spent a significant amount of class time watching films, attendance wasn't mandatory and all the slides are posted to canvas. Use the study guides she provides to study for exams and you'll do fine.

Dolores was probably my favorite professor at JMU. I took her multiple times, and each class I came out with a fresh set of ideas. While she can be a little scatter-brained at times, she allows her classes to flow freely and loosely, which makes for a stress-free environment. For 498, there was a big paper, but it honestly was too bad. Take her!

Professor Flamiano was a great professor. She was able to show the class clearly and easily how media effects a person's daily lives. Her class was very interesting and was easy to understand. Homework assignments are a little difficult at some points and sometimes the highest score you can earn is around a B, but overall material is basic and easy

Pretty easy class, but definitely take it with Flamiano before anyone else. Concepts are interesting and the videos we watch in class are fun. Definitely recommend going to class even though it isnt required lots of exam questions are based on things only shown in class.

Out of three profs that teach SMAD 150, I was put into Dr. Flamiano's section. Overall I thought she was a very good professor, make lectures pretty interesting and didn't find her hard to pay attention to. As far as this class goes, if you pay attention to the videos and pay attention in class, I found it very easy to get a B+ with minimal effort.

This class had three different professors one day and then a break off session with the individual professor. Sometimes monotone lectures but powerful topics. Read the textbook before each lecture. Videos shown in class are mostly gut wrenching and thought heavy.

I love Professor Flamiano! Her class was so easy especially if you've taken SMAD101. Pay attention to lecture and go to discussion and you'll get an A. She is also very thorough and cares a lot about student success. She gave us time in class to work on our partner project and was always available to answer questions. Easy A.

Flamiano is a wonderful professor. We watched a bunch of very informational documentaries and group discussions about the films. It was a great and interesting class to be in. She was very considerate of the precautions with COVID-19 and she understood when things came up. Will 100% be taking her again. Be sure to stay within the word count limit.

Flamiano is very caring and talks about very interesting topics concering media criticism. She understands when you get in a tough spot and can't make it to class which is helpful during COVID. She grades papers a bit hard, but as long as you reflect the material taught you will be fine. I felt moved by her guest speakers and loved the class!!!

Good professor, super easy class. Exams are easy as long as you look over the material, and you get study guides for them. You have a couple papers that you write with a partner, but they're only 2 pages. She's pretty lenient when it comes to grading, and you basically just watch movies and videos all class, though sometimes she goes on tangents.

Very easy class. We mainly just watched videos in class and the exams covered what we talked about. She tries to get people involved with projects/papers, but working along is easier because there isn't a lot of time for deadlines. Would take other classes with her if they're as easy as this class! Great for 301 requirement and GPA bonus!

Dr Flamiano is a very entertaining, knowledgable professor I enjoyed her discussion a lot. She is approachable and wants to help students succeed. I highly recommend her and her class.

Good teacher but the group lectures are a bit dry. There is A LOT of reading each week that you can't skip or you'll get a bad grade on the exam. Exams were based off the readings more than the lectures. Your grade is determined by 3 exams and 2 papers. Flamiano was a bit picky on grading papers so try your hardest writing it.

I liked her think im taking anoher course with her next semester! sign in attendance sheet when u come in, 2 papers with partner pretty easy some exams not hard just pay attention and read. fun class watched movies, paper on superbowl ads, i recommend!

So sweet and goes over the writing assignments before you turn them in. One of the other three teachers for this course and is very helpfull.

She is an incredibly sweet professor! The workload is manageable, there is a lot of readings though and it is mainly discussion most days. Gives out quizzes but they are open note, so easy A's. There are a couple of papers on interesting topics so they weren't dreadful. A bonus is that she ends class early often! I would definitely recommend her.

Professor Flamiano is super sweet, and her class can be interesting. There's only a few papers that are more opinion based than research, so they are manageable especially for someone who doesn't like writing papers. Lots of discussions, but she seems to have a hard time to get students to engage in them.

Such a nice professor who cares about her students. Class is centered around discussions on films watched in class and on articles/videos about said films. Pretty easy and educational!!

Had her for 301 and 204. DO NOT take her for 204. She had no idea what she was teaching, i understand its a new class but make things so frustrating for the students because we had no idea what to do most times. Graded too harshly for us being the experiment 204 class. She was fine for 301, probably because she taught it before.
