You learn a lot about writting a college english paper. But, she gives a lot work, don't take this class with other hard classes. If you keep up with all the homework you will get a B or A.

MS. Moreno is not bad like everyone else is trying to meake it seem. Ms. Moreno is good at teaching shes very clear in what she expects in the homework. papers, and other stuff. She will work with you if you ask her.
Do not take her unless you want a bunch of useless work to do! too much busy work! Simple essays though and she needs a bit of an attitude adjustment!
Ms. Moreno is a strong teacher, workload is an overload with other classes, but achieveable. I am taking 15 units, getting a B in this class. She teaches valuable things and expects students to rise above mediocrity. Most people settle for mediocrity - I do not. She pushes you to rise to the quality within you.
I don't respect a teacher that takes pride in failing students. She makes assignments harder then they should be and I never understood her system of grading. Papers were returned with annotated gibberish that she could hardly even read. I wish I would have known how weak of a teacher she is. Her voice isn't the most pleasant either.
This lady is ridiculous and is not worth wasting your time. She enjoys watching people fail. She is not very well structured at all. Hands down the worst teacher I've ever had. She complains about having to read all of the student material as if she has a lot of work. Its not a lot when there is only ten students left in the class. Don't waste time
Homework is abundant and her teaching methods are strict and to the point, but that made me a little more organized. I learned a lot.
Although I recieved a B in the class, I really stressed out because Moreno is inconsiderate and does not realize that people have more coursed. She crams essays after essays and never gives you a break. Plus she grades extremely hard. Do not take her!!!!!
Good teacher and difficult grader. Perfect for any English majors but may be too hard-core for students not interested in English. Make it a habit to visit her office, you will find her helpful and she will take note of your seriousness. Moreno is horriable !!!! she loves to fail everyone. My class started from 30 students to 8 at the end of the semester. She failed everyone and only 1 student passed with a C. This lady is ridiculous and is not worth wasting your time. She enjoys watching people fail. The bad part worst part, I went to every class and she still FAILED ME !!!!!

This professor is confusing. She explains things a few days prior to the due date, but if you forget what she explained and reffer to the sillabus, you will get it wrong because is confusing and not well explained. I felt that I wasn't learning anything, just turning in the assignments, which were too many.

Ms. Moreno is a kind women who wants students to succeed. However, her class is by far the most demanding I have ever taken, I passed, but I spent many extra hours proofreading essays and doing A LOT of assignments. If you're willing to put in the hours, you'll do fine...if you're a slacker DO NOT take this class...
This professor is nothing like what has been reported. She's exceedingly fair. It seems people need to come to class, complete the assignments, and try. If all of these things are done, a good grade is the outcome. Take responsibility for your own actions and there won't be any problems.
Very good teacher also very strick, but if you follow the syllabus and understand what's expected from you. It will be very easy. Teacher explains lessons very clear.

She is VERY serious when it comes to deadlines. She basically tells you what she expects to see in the assignments. The quizzes are easy because she goes over the material A LOT in class. I wish she was teaching 101.

Come on people. We are in college, not high school. She is crystal clear about her assignments and deadlines. The only things on the syllabus that change are a few due dates. Come to class and you'll know when things are due. She is very strict, but she let's you know from the beginning what to expect. I would take 101 from her. GREAT!!
8 left out of a fullclass. Strict, demanding & dedicated to critizise. 5 essays & a research paper where she requests that you do her work (highlighting, & copying all used material to check for plaigarism). I have A's in all my clasees but I got a "C" with her because she disagreed with my point of view on my papers. Extremely annoying voice.
I have always had a passion for English and have never had a problem writing papers. She had a problem with my point of view/opinion my grade was affected. I only received C's on all my papers mind u they were reviewed and got good comments. She is not a good English teacher would never recmnd her take someone else if u want to get good grades
All of the comments of this professor are true. I had her in the fall and received a C for the class. I've always been an acceptable person in essays and in her class my first paper was D. The first time I received a "D" on an essay EVER!! I would not recommend Moreno, ever.
Moreno is a hard prof., that is the truth. But she's teaching at an actual college/university standard. I went on to university and am in grad school now, she prepared me better than anybody else. She wants to help out, will meet with you office hours, and connect you with people. First low grade folks? Welcome to college. Want an A or the truth?
I don't like this class at all. I regret taking her and I'm sure the majority who take her class will feel the same way. Class is not interesting at all! She made me hate English with the passion! Ms. Moreno is the biggest u know what.... Harsh teacher who is very opinonated. Iv'e talked to the majority of the class and everyone agree's she is a horrible teacher. I also received my first D ever on an essay.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! It's my only C among my A's. she grades harsh, doesn't realize she is supposed to teach you to write, instead she criticizes unconstuctively and expects professional writters. She made english writting tedious and hateful. Everyone dropped her (9 left out of 30 something). Don't take her you WILL regret it.
Mrs.Dolores is a real college proffesor. Her grading is rigerous and requires actual "college" work. If you turn in poorly done work she'll let you know. She expects alot of her students and sometimes its a bit frustrating. Her class dropped my GPA. I actually put in the most time and effort into her class and I still got no higher than a C. Beware

Mrs.Moreno is difficult to understand. She assigns alot of essays and really dosent explain what she expets and grades really hard.Her test are average but her grading is based mostly on all the essays. Attendance is really important or else you will be lost for the next class meet.

I have always loved to write. I have learned a lot in her class; however, she is a tyrant. I have a 4.0 until grades post. She has screwed my GPA because I had one bad sentence, so she gave me a D. She said the paper was grammatically fine but my first sentence wasn't great. She has an oh well attitude, and can be a huge B. Don't take her class.
very strict, if you are at least 1 minute late to class and she has already collected assignments its not accept,its late. its hopeless attending her class everyone would get c's or d's on assignment lectures are boring, hard to understand, she doesn't really teach she assigns students to read the book and doesn't explain it,its hard to understand

Do not take this professor unless you don't have a life !!! All lectures are long no matter the topic ! A lot of meaningless busy work !! If essays are not incorrect format to her standards will automatically give you an "F" and will not allow any make ups !!
Professor Moreno is the best teacher I have had. She does give a lot of work, but is staff that you need to learn because you are going to need it later for others classes or for the university. She is very clear about her expectations, and is always there to help the students if they seek for her help. I would highly recommend taking her.

Information wise, she's a fabulous professor in chicano lit. But if you a student that doesn't know Spanish, she only translates half of the time. Do the work right away or you'll get behind fast in the journals and essays. You only have a week to do essays.
Ms Dolores is a pretty good instructor. Many students complain, but I honestly didn't have a problem besides her strict grading. I had her for 015 & 914, to me both were easy. She explains good, the books she gives to read are interesting, her quizes are very easy and so is the homework. For 914 all you write is 1 paragraph and for 015 2-3 pages.
Strict, Homework is unclear and barley reviewed test are easy to take and pass however grading is heavy and the whole sentence must be written out if the answer is only 1 capital letter or one word extra work is done for no apparent reason would not recommend her coming straight out of a high school or if extra work is your pet peeve
Professor Moreno makes you earn your grade and most students just want an easy A. The class is not easy but if you do all your work you will be fine.

Professor Dolores is an amazing instructor. I had a hard time in her class, but I've learned a lot from her. Now I find my Eng 015 easy because she taught so well.

I took Professor Moreno twice once for English 914 and 015. She makes you earn your grade, so don't expect to get an easy A because I guarantee she's probably never given one. Her grading is hard, but you will learn so much in her class. She doesn't give out extra credit sadly, but she does push you to try hard.
Professor Moreno was amazing, but be ready to work in this class. There are quite a bit of assignments and about 4 papers. She is a fantastic teacher and really knows what she is doing. Very helpful so feel free to ask questions. She really cares about her students abilities to understand the material.
Professor Moreno was precise, fair, compassionate and a encouraging teacher. She didn't stand for a lot of foolishness. But if she saw that you were serious about your work she would help you and encourage to the best of her ability. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and teachings.
This professor will have 10 assignments due in one day and doesnt not accept late work. My class was two hours long and she would just ramble on till she ran out of things to talk about. Also a very strict grader.

To be honest shes not as bad as everyone thinks she is she just likes things a certain way. She gives assignments and homework pretty much everyday. The thing that mostly frustrated me about her was she would critique her students writing but never explained how to fix it. She wasnt the best but she also wasnt the worst, just avoid the class.

She is so boring and dull. There was probably around 15 people at the start of the year but after about a month there was seven... That should have been instant red flags for me. Shes horrible. I dropped from her class as well because there was so much unclear and unreasonable things she required. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
She assigns homework every class and requires you go to the writing center for essay edits otherwise you wont pass her class. Shes doesnt seem to understand that her students have lives outside of her class. I was in a class of 7 which is odd for a mandatory English class. Avoid this professor if you dont want to feel like youre drowning.

Worst English professor at SBVC. Nursing majors stay away! She gives nothing but C's if you're lucky. I'm still paying the price for 914 and 015 on my overall GPA. Took 101 and 102 with other professors and got A's, which sound say something. I don't recommend her she hates nursing students and she does not give good critique or feedback.
This is such a hard class. I took it online for a summer course. The amount of assignments is so unrealistic. Assignments information are all over the place and not very clear. Class started with 20 students and by the beginning of second week when I dropped the class, there were only 6 other students left. I would not recommend her class.

Do NOT get trapped in this class. Its seems easy at first but this Professor is all gas and no brakes. I literally ended my semester with 5 out of 23 people including me. This is the class that you well dread going to.
I started back to school after 15 years off and I agree 100%. Run and don't look back! This teacher is soo unclear about every assignment. If you ask her for help she doesn't get back to you! She tells you "print up assignment and write in the corrections, then post it on canvas". Well I did so and got a 5 out of 20. Trust me don't waste your time!
Professor Moreno is a fairly good instructor. She just likes things done in a specific way. Essays make up a good portion of the grade received in the class, and mistakes take off a lot of points. Even tiny mistakes can add up and leave you with a C by time the professor is done grading. If you aren't strong with English, I wouldn't take the course
Please avoid this teacher, especially if you are just starting college or you are returning to school after a long time. Her requirements/directions were unnecessarily complicated which made them unclear, and she was very dismissive, almost rude when I asked for some clarification. Lacks consideration for people's time and lives outside school.

I took her class my first year of college and got an F. I did every single assignment and she still failed me! She is a extremely tough grader. I would get Fs on my essays and I did everything possible to try and get good grades on my essays. I went to the writing center daily for help and I still would get Fs on my papers. Professor Moreno was very organized and she made everything very clear. There was just too much homework that was due back to back. this class would have been easier if I did not have homework for my other classes. There were lots of essays due less than a week apart. The class became over whelming.

The work was a lot & not organized. The moment I asked a question she would make it seem like it was my fault for not understanding, when instructions were not clear! I got advice from her on an essay. Did exactly what she said, got it verified by a tutor(mandatory), & it was not enough. She flaws at everything. As if you're majoring in English.
Professor Moreno runs a tough class, but using unstuck AI alongside the course materials really helped me stay on top of the heavy workload. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but worth it if you're willing to put in the effort.
