In class we just read the chapters we already had to read for homework, out loud during class time. The test did not follow the in class material as well as homework.

I have never reviewed a teacher, until I took her class, shes bias, unhelpful, tries to intimidate to avoid you. Really bad experience, she grades on your topic, and will not help you in any way when she shoots ideas down. This is a fair warning to everyone. Hopefully she is reported, evaluated. This is the worst teacher I've ever had, and I seriously hope she doesn't go on teaching to another college. She spoke to us like we were five-year-olds, and I literally learned nothing new about making speeches. Wasted many hours in that class.. ended up getting an A for some reason. Avoid at all costs. I am one who takes my work seriously and wasn't just there to mess around, but she was NOT helpful. Even after going to her office to get more clarity, she talked down to me and said "why didn't you pay attention?" If something is unclear she'll act like it's your fault, she can never be wrong.

i've had a 4.0 throughout college except for her class. i had a's on every speech until the final. i failed!! reason why??? she told us that the final was on parts of the book that she NEVER COVERED. i studied them so hard and then found that the final included nothing but trick questions based on topics she never mentioned before!!!

Was my last resort for a class, I should have read the comments. I dropped it, we didn't use the book at all. She didn't understand questions. If she didn't like your subject, you'd get a bad grade. She's also very rude to certain students. About 2/3 of the class dropped before the semester was over. I used to like speech, but not anymore.

This class seemed like it would an easy A! if you had a choice between taking her class and suicide, you should seriously consider suicide. She makes you buy the book that she NEVER talks about, the topics she assigns are pointless and hard, and if you dont use the pcc library, shes gonna fail you. She is very sloppy in general, her due deadlines are not clear, and her lack of computer skills make it harder to communicate with her. Good luck knowing your grade unless you make an appointment to see her during office hours which will be EARLY. Once class starts she will talk nonstop. she knows her thing but doesn't know how to teach it. AVOID!

Worst professor Ive encountered here at PCC. Im not sure she is interested in student success. She spends entire class sessions "teaching" us what NOT to do.. instead of teaching us the nessecary. Professor Avila is the worst teacher I've ever had. She is condescending, immature, and unprofessional. She never offered help, and wouldn't tell us our overall grades. The syllabus was ignored or changed constantly, and when a student asked a question, she would often respond with silence. There's something wrong with this woman. Why is she here?

Professor Avila does not explain what is needed on the case studies. In the textbook states there is no wrong answer, but once I get my paper back I receive a low C. Now that the semester is over with I understand what she expects from the class. I would not mind the class if she actually went over this important information.

Worst professor in the whole world. Please do NOT take her, the class is not a hard subject the only problem is her. She clearly should not be teaching, she hates people she will not help you succeed. The class is a GE requirement, so do pick another professor.
