very energetic and bright. He makes you work but you learn a great deal.
He isn't the worst teacher I've taken, but he isn't the best either. He really cares about politics and it shows by how energentic he is during class. He does have a temper. NEVER ask him to repeat quiz question. Tests are hard. Make sure you study and know all the material.
Professor Caserta was engaging, entertaining, and extremely knowledgeable. He class is a must for a Political Science major.
His lectures are incredibly fast and he's not explicit of what he expects for the midterm. I got all A's this semester except for this class. After the midterm, 70% of the class had an F in the class. I would exhaust all other options before taking this class. It's not difficult, but it's just not organized and he's not helpful.
Unhelpful, unclear class. Most of he class apparently failed because his grading was so hard and his temper made him unapproachable for office hours. Disappointing.
He knows his stuff, very passionate about the subject matter, I learned a great deal.
Caserta was approachable, knowledgable, and witty. Plus he has first hand knowledge of politics. He is one of the best professors I gave had at SFSU.
What energy and passion. Caserta knows his stuff and he communicates it clearly. If you do what is asked you will get an A. Caserta was great to have as a professor. And, he is good looking, too :)
Professor Caserta knew his material and encouraged discussion. I loved his class it was educational and entertaining.
What energy, enthusiasm, and keen insight in the arena of California politics. What I loved about his class is that he has experience in politics as an elected official. He makes the concepts that we read in class come alive in his lectures. I hope to take more classes from Professor Caserta.
Professor Caserta was fair in his grading policy and engaging in his lectures. He truly has passion for teaching and for politics. His class was delightful as I learned a great deal about California politics.
So knowledgeable and accessible, he knows his stuff but presents it in a fun, memorable fashion. Caserta is a great professor.
All the students love Caserta, he is witty, bright, humorous, and engages the students. He is one of the best profs I have had ever.
He's very clear in his explanations which makes your life easier to study the materials. Never hesitate to ask him is you have any concerns regarding the course material. My main advice is this : Just read his notes and follow his instructions carefully and then you will be perfectly fine.
I am enrolled in his Poly Sci class right now at West Valley. His class is so enjoyable and interactive and he is always willing to take the time to help you out. I hope to take him at SFSU when I transfer there.
Caserta makes the class so fun. His passionate radiates throughout the classroom. He is the best teacher I have taken thus far at West Valley.
Caserta knows his stuff and teaches the material in a memorable way. Take him if you want to learn, he is also helpful if you have any questions. I loved his class.
Great class the time flew by and very interactive, entertaining, and educational.
Caserta is so witty, bright, and inetractive. LOVED, LOVED his style of teaching and his class. He made it so applicable to my daily life, thanks CASERTA!!!
He was so knowledgeable and able to teach American Government in a memorable way. I did well in this class because of Caserta's strong lecture style and powerpoint presentations.
Good !
Best class thus far that I have taken at West Valley...
As long as you do your work you should be fine. Caserta is truly the man. The class is easy to understand, he is lay back and understands you. He is by far one of the best teachers I have taken. He makes class fun and his teaching style is just amazing. I wish more teachers were like him. Take Professor Caserta's class and you won't regret it! He is truly the best!
Simply the best
Caserta is very responsive and lets you know how you are doing daily. I loved his style of teaching and his passion for politics.
I love the class. The Power Points are informative and Professor Caserta treats us as adults. He is fair and professional. I have learned immensely in this class.
Extremely bright and witty.
Professor Caserta was responsive to any and all questions that I had. His class was informational and enjoyable. I highly recommend him as a professor.
Passionate, thorough, and fair. I loved this class.
Took his class online, super easy and straightforward! Just weekly (two-page) essays per chapter, and MCQ + four essays for the midterm and final.
Professor Caserta was an awesome professor. He made it easy to remember when online assignments were due because he was consistent with deadlines and always sent out email updates and reminders. I learned a lot and the work was not difficult to complete. Answer questions due every Monday afternoon. He was also very reasonable and understanding.
I loved Professor Caserta. He is so easy to talk to and cares about his students. The class is easy in the sense that it is straight forward and there are no tricks. DO NOT MISS ASSIGNMENTS! If you turn in everything and do well on the Final and Midterm you'll do great. Take his class!
Great teacher! As previously mentioned, he is pretty straight forward. He offers powerpoint slides and specific sections/chapters in the textbook to get the current topic across. He definitely knowledgeable and witty. I like it in a sense he gives you the power on how to reflect on the political system. Your impressions and views. Great class.
Ladies and Gentleman! this guy is freakin awesome. On a scale 1-10 he's 10. this class is not a CSU Requirement or UC to graduate. You will take more out of this class than you would ever know ONLY if you show up. and if you decide to ditch the class, you know what they say "what goes around, comes around."
Caserta is a rigorous teacher, and if you like learning when you go to school, I highly recommend taking from him. Dom will treat you like an adult who knows how to take care of themselves, he's not there to babysit you. However, if you do need help, personally approaching him is typically very productive. You wont pass if you don't attend.
This was a one unit online class I needed to fulfil the CA Politics requirement. There were only 3 assignments... 2 reflection papers, 1 final essay. If you do it and it looks like a good paper, you get the full grade. Just make sure you read the material and write the 3 papers, then you're guaranteed to get an A.
Best on line class I have taken at SFSU. Caserta was fair, witty, and responsive. I recommend his class fully!
Really chill online class with prompt feedback.
Super easy A. Easy grader for sure. 3 small papers due throughout the semester. California politics sounds pretty boring, but he made the content interesting by choosing stuff students could relate too.
His lectures are engaging, entertaining, and full of interesting information. Tests and assignments are easy and straight forward.
Having taken his online class I can't really comment on him. The class itself has proven to be very one-sided and un-challenging. You read a chapter and respond to a question. He provides no feedback specific to what you've written and when I check my grades it seems we're only being graded for completion because I've gotten 100% on everything.
Must do homework to pass
I am atking Caserta on line now, he is super clear on what he expects out out of you, very fair in his grading, and always is accessible. I thoroughly enjoy his class, no wonder he class are always so full. He is great!
best online class I have ever taken.
Easy Teacher. As long as you do the assigned work you'll pass. Papers are long but you have a week to do it due every monday 4pm.
Professor Caserta's online class was clear and he gave me feedback every week. I strongly suggested taking his course as I loved it!
best online class ever!
The funniest, yet most effective teacher at SJSU. Gets his point across and makes you want to participate. I learned so much in his POLS 1 class. This guy is the truth!!! You will not be disappointed. Be prepared to learn and laugh in the process.
This is a 200 level class, so the weekly 2-4 page write-ups seem unnecessarily extra, and I'm accustomed to doing a lot of writing. Over all an interesting course with some good reads. TIP: You don't really need the book so don't waste your time buying it.
Best class I have taken at SFSU, he really knows his stuff.
This is only a one credit course. It was fun and easy, taught me a lot of things i didn't know and was useful in self-guidance.
Online class is based off of readings and lecture ppts, you complete section readings then submit two reflection on the readings, final consists of an essay. Stay on top of reading or you will fall behind, other than that easy course. learn a lot about general California politics
This professor was the best! extremely dedicated and i looked forward to his class every Thursday. Definitely recommend him and I hope to have another class with hims soon!
Two page papers due every week, but he grades them very easy. Final and midterm are like the weekly papers, but five prompts instead of the usual 1 or 2, but it's an easy A.
Best professor I have taken as a gator. Caserta was accessible and very fair and the topics he presented were extremely interesting and helpful. I recommend Caserta!
BEST online class you can take if he's available. Weekly assignment is a two page paper with the topics given. Use Ariel font and it's a piece of cake. Midterm and final are basically the weekly assignment, but its 5 of them so a total of 10 pages, but again ariel font will pull you through. The book was not used, just google everything.
Take him, loved the class, he was clear in his expectations and accessible, I learned a great deal about CA politics from Caserta.
This class is super easy! It just consists of 3 essays, all of which don't need much effort. Professor Caserta is an easy grader and as long as it looks like you did the work its an easy "A." Really like how the class is structured and you learn a lot. Would defiantly take again, Caserta is the man!!!
I am currently taking Caserta, he is fair, clear in his expectations, and very responsive to questions. If you need to take PLSI 200, take him!
This class was extremely easy, if you want an easy A this is the class for you. If you are really serious about political science or if you actually want to learn I would not recommend this class.
Great class, great prof, I recommend him!
There are writing practices every Monday and a forum post Friday. One midterm and one final. He's a fair grader and easy to contact. All material is based on the textbook. He never once talked about current issues and wish he went over stuff like the impeachment, the upcoming election, etc. Would recommend this class for an easy A
Easy A if you need Political Science credit. Typically 1-2 VERY short and easy assignments every week. I feel like he never really read my homework responses and just gave an automatic 100%. Very straightforward class and easy credits.
I just finished this class. Prof Caserta was accessible and made the class fun even in the covid environment. I learned a great deal. I strongly recommend this class.
Very easy credits but get ready to write 2-4 pages a week and do a forum discussion. The class itself is super easy just do the writing assignments and you will pass. As long as you do it, Professor Caserta will give you 100% on it. Best class to take for PLSI 200 if you need the GE credits for D3!
Be prepared to be a good writer by the end!
Easy A but doesnt teach. Theres weekly short response questions you need to answer (2 pages), a few forum questions, midterm and final exam which is just like the weekly papers but 4-5 questions. Take this class if you need an easy GE history class but if you want to learn take it with another professor
In the beginning, the prof sent an email about sending recordings. I thought these emails were going to be lecture recordings, but no. One needed to be reading the textbook. The grading was fine, just turn in the work and its an A. I was expecting a lot more from this class since it was dense and expected the prof to give us more then just us read
This class was clear and the professor was accessible when you have questions. Especially during an election year, I learned a great deal. The videos and audio files by Caserta was very helpful. I strongly recommend the class.
We had 2-4 page papers based on questions due every Monday. They weren't hard, but added to my workload. He's a VERY easy grader (I only got an A- because I skipped one paper but got 100% on the final exam), but I still learned. Politics in 2020 were crazy and this class helped shed light on some processes. There were no synchronous lectures.
For this class, it was easy for me because the only assignment was writing a paper each week. A paper would consist of two pages or page based on the readings, textbook, and slides. His grading criteria is also very clear and its an easy A (if youre into the material)
Super easy class, if you read and do the assignments associated with the reading then you'll pass. There are a few 50 point assignments but they are relatively easy as long as you do the reading.
Prof. Caserta was clear in his expectation and always accessible. During these crazy times, Caserta made poly sci so enjoyable. I strongly recommend his class.
Took him this semester for credit. easy class do the work associated with the chapters and the discussion post you'll be golden
Prof. Caserta's class consisted of 1-2 papers every week alongside reading 1-2 chapters of a textbook. I do like political science, but it felt like a chore rather than actually learning. He never gave me feedback on any of my papers, but it was mostly fair. If you want to learn more about/engage with politics, this course is not for you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Professor Caserta was fair, insightful, and responsive. I learned a great deal, as well. I enthusiastically recommend this class.
I really enjoyed this class, the prof was accessible always getting back to me within 12 hours of an emailed question. I learned quite a bit from Prof. Caserta, I recommend taking his 200 and 373 classes.
There was no quizzes or tests. At All. Which is a good thing, so be prepared to write a 1-2 page paper per week (w/the occasional forum discussion) and that's it. You need a textbook, but you don't need the latest edition (You can find free versions online). There's a midterm and final but they're very easy to write.
1-2 pages of writing a week, not a lot of reading, because you can get the concept of what to write after reading in a few pages. He doesn't actually teach, but it's an easy A to get some GE out of the way. I skipped a question in the final and he still gave me 100/100, just some food for thought.
easy async course, i'd take it for credit if u can! hw consists of a short forum response & a one pager each week. honestly not hard and can get away without really reading or listening to the lectures. his power points dont have the information, just the outline of it ; mainly auditory so that kinda sucks but just do ur work on time & you'll pass
The entirety of this class is reading about a chapter or two a week and writing one to two small papers per week. If you just get the gist of the concepts he will give you 100%, as long as it is formatted correctly and answers all the questions. The class is purely writing assignments - the midterm and final were just essays. Easy A if do work.
I loved this class because the expectations were clear and Prof. Caserta gave timely and constructive comments with each assignment. I recommend taking his class.
I learned so much in the class.
