Great teacher who loves criminal justice. A working sfpd sgt. so has plenty of hands on experience. Really fun and easy to talk to. Organized crime class was so bomb!
GREAT TEACHER! GREAT TEACHING METHOD! STILL WORKING FOR THE SFPD! COULDN'T BE A BETTER TEACHER! LOVED THE CLASS! GREAT AND EASY TO TALK TO! HUMOR A MUST IN CLASS! REALLY EASY GOING! TAKING ANOTHER CLASS WITH HIM NEXT SEMESTER! RECOMMENDED!!!
I learned so much in this class. I really increased my interest in law enforcement and helped me begin my career!
Lieutant Yin is the best instructor in CCSF ADMJ major. If you want to join law enforcement, please take his class. He is extremely helpful and nice. It is my pleasure to meet him.
Outstanding instructor who is exceptionally knowlegable and kind. Excellent mentor and role model.
Really nice teacher.I took an intro to ADMJ,& I like how informative the class was.D.Yin is more than happy to answer questions. There's no hmwk, you just read chapters. Only have to do 1 5pg. essay and a final.I highly recommend that you take his class, I learned alot and his class was fun!
Great professor. Enjoyed his class, very knowledgeable and helpful. Show up do the work and participate you will pass. If you want an A you need to do the paper, Midterm and Final if you get an A on the Paper and Midterm (Take Home) you can get a B on the Final (Take Home) and still get an A in the class. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed coming to class everyday. Professor Yin is very knowledgeable, he made class/ learning fun. I took this class to fulfill one of my GE requirements but now I'm considering changing career paths thanks to Professor Yin and one of the guest speakers. If you're going to take ADMJ 57 make sure he is your instructor.
Really interesting an helpful to understand! And good instructor
Great teacher!! Definitely worth taking this class. You learn a lot from this class and it is really easy.
I'm in the Paralegal Studies Program...Mr. Yin is the antidote to the stuffiness and hypocrisy of that program. ANYBODY in the program who is FRUSTRATED - next semester ADMJ 57 - your new start and motivation - good luck.
This dude is really dope, and knows what he's talking about, very insightful. He has a very good sense of humor and will joke around throughout the whole class lol. Very good teacher and I really really recommend him.

I've taken three of his courses already. I have honestly learned something new in every single class. He was a Lieutenant in the Navy JAG, passed the California BAR, and has been with SFPD for 17 years now. He is extremely knowledgable and resourceful. Take his class if you have even the slightest interest in a career in criminal justice. Semper.

Professor Dominic Yin has it all. Intelligence, street smarts, humor and he truly cares about his students. I do not have aspirations to be a police officer, I took his class because it interested me and to augment my Bachelors Degree in Public Admin. He brings energy and enthusiasm to class as well. Attend as many of his classes as you can!!!
Great instructor and everyone should take his class. All he expect is his student to participate and do the assignment which isn't too hard just time consuming. You will definitely enjoy taking his class. He is very knowledgeable in the field and is good with relating with the student.
Very helpful and clear. One if the best teachers I've ever had. funny and charming.
He is HILARIOUS,gave me a ton of chances, the only part sucked is he didnt use the book during class but had a 14 page from book at home test. group activities. Better show up to class so you know whats going on,even though its not mendatory.

Honestly one of the most realistic teachers you'll ever have(will teach you a lot of official book stuff but can relate it to real life experience and how it works in the real world). Knowledgeable to the point where you can ask him any question on the subject and he'd probably be able to answer it. Worth taking.

His lectures were insightful and by applying real world experience, the information in our textbooks were more relateable.
The class very dynamic because Lt. Yin uses a lot of different media in his classes. You should expect videos, guest lecturers, group discussions, easy homework and some reading. He is also extremely funny which helps staying focused in the night classes. I would recommend him to anyone interested in taking a criminal justice course.
Great insight to law enforcement and great lectures. The class is easy and interesting
One of the best ADMJ teachers city college has to offer.
Capt. Yin is legit and provides extremely clear directions on how to pass with A. On top of that, you're getting to hear about criminal operations from an active Captain in the SFPD. If you struggle in this class or don't get an A, you're the problem.
Professor Yin was fantastic! Overall super funny, wants you to pass, and is very easy if you show up. There is one group project, class work everyday, and gives homework once in awhile. Seems like a lot of work but it is all very easy. The textbook was used in some situations but not all the time. You do potluck when he brings in guest speakers.
Captain Yin provides a more realistic outlook to life and law enforcement. The way he teaches is not like your boring textbook but inspires you by telling you about actual life events and opportunities out there. He usually ends class early and is really down-to-earth. Take this class if you want a fun and informative class. Also, he's pretty easy.
great teacher
Great teacher, awesome person, incredibly helpful to talk to. NOT JUST A BORING CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASS. If you are looking to go into law enforcement his class is ridiculously helpful especially for networking purposes.

Dominic Yin was a very nice and funny guy. and his classes were really fun to go to there was no point in his class where I found boring. I leaned so much in his class if I wasn't learning something i didn't know about I he showed me a different perspective of something that I did. he even took the class on a field trip on the first day.
PROTECT THIS MAN. I took his ADMJ 57 course over the summer. He's super passionate about his career and is very informative of the criminal justice field. He's understanding with students and it's great to know he's a professor who can get along with them and teach extremely well. He acknowledges everyone in the class and teaches exceptionally. c:
Best teacher ever! Very down to earth and helpful! He uses example and scenarios to explain the material.

Captain Yin is without a doubt one of the best professors at City. He cares for his students and is passionate.
PROFESSOR YIN, is an amazing instructor at CCSF. I recommend students who're interested in becoming a police officer to take his course or if you are interested in the criminal justice studies also a good course to take. attend class and turn in assignments and be part of the group discussion is all it take to be successful in this course,
I absolutely loved having professor yin as my professor he became a favorite of mine. He is top of the list on my favorite professors list! I loved his class and his thinking he is truly amazing in all categories!
I dont have enough characters to explain what a perfect class this was. It far exceeded my expectations. He is passionate, caring, helpful, and goes above and beyond for his students. I contracted covid, and he made accommodations that were more than fair. Beyond that his lectures are efficient, engaging, and relate the text to real life. A+ Class
Prof. Yin is definitely a great teacher with insightful answers and inspiring knowledge. Read the text, participate the class, do the weekly homework, and take two exams. Thats all of the class!!!Moreover, the homework and two exams are all about critical thinking questions. It is a fun and valuable class.

Professor Yin is an amazing instructor. He's a great listener and gives great feedback. I would email Professor Yin with concerns, and some of my questions may not have made much sense, but he was very patient and understanding with me. If I needed to another ADMJ, it would his class.
A professor that mixes a vast history of working with the police and a down-to-earth personality. The whole course was clear in material taught, and in grading policies.

Amazing professor! You can definitely tell he enjoys sharing his knowledge. He cares about your success!!!! Thank you, Professor Yin!
Professor provides a lot of energy during the course, provide help to comprehend topics that can be tough to understand, and give many advised possible how to improve, he believed the student is succeeds if they try hard to get off from the satisfied zone and give all to accomplish their own goals.
Prof. Yin is a caring professor! Very encouraging and funny!
Professor Yin, is the best. You can tell he really cares and enjoy what he does. You can also tell he cares a lot about his students. Best Professor Ever City college definitely need more professors like him.
Yin is inspirational by telling stories of his career in a comedic way. Yin is very supportive who is always to give a helping hand to our career journey. Yin offered us to visit him in his office so we can speak more about career paths and gave us his personal info semester end if we ever needed help. Hate school but loved his class.
Professor Yin is charismatic and I enjoyed every his lectures. He gives examples using his real life experiences to help better understanding the subject matters. You will do very well in this class by following the course schedule and complete assignments.
Honestly, just a very chill professor. The lectures were very interesting. 5/5
Professor Yin focuses a lot on his career in policing and careers in policing with much less focus on the court side of law.
Really good anecdotes and stories. Also good field trips and guest speakers. Main con is a lack of a clear curriculum, but for a lot of people that's a good thing.
Just a overall good teacher had cool lectures and was pretty chill
Professor Yin has very entertaining lectures! His policing background also makes him very knowledgeable on criminal justice.
I enjoyed Mr Yins teaching & knowledge based on his personal experiences. He is an amazing speaker. He can work on is being more open to opinions that he might not agree with. Mr Yin made sure everyone was included, I recommend this class to who wants to learn about certain perspectives in police.

He is one professor that cares. He helps us get internships and makes recommendations for other courses.
Super knowledgeable and friendly. Took us to visit a police station and gave us extra time to complete assignments.
Prof. Yin covered all major organized crime groups and then explained how they worked in SF. He was helpful in selecting my topic for the paper and helped me complete the paper while showing me how to use the APA format. A really good college experience.

Very interesting lectures with valuable real world experience to share
Professor Dominic Yin's pedagogy is steeped in and culled from his personal and real life experiences as an SFPD police officer as well as his history as an attorney. The topics broached in all of our class sessions were timely, of the moment, and broad reaching. From the subject matter discussed and investigated I found myself looking inward often

He is amazing
very fun class with engaging lectures
He's really nice and funny, his lectures are really great. Be prepared to participate and have fun while learning.
Prof Yin is great, very easy to reach. I took this class as part of dual enrollment, the summer before my senior year, and it seems to me that he was very aware of our being high schoolers there in summer and was more easygoing because of that.
Professor uses personal experiences and real world examples to show different perspectives concerning the topic. Interactive lectures aid the students in understanding the subject, as it makes it easier for said students to apply the examples to their own lives.
based on high ratings i was expecting a lot but the virtual section had zero interaction with the prof, all a cengage that was auto graded. Its easy enough if you just need units but not a lot of new information for someone with an existing foundational knowledge of the US legal system. Cengage quizzes focus more on memorization and technicalities.
The course I took was entirely async busy work; he opened the modules every week and answered my email about the site crashing within 24 hours, that is all the info I have about him. A godsend class in comparison to the others I had to take this semester.
