very handsome and a great teacher
No Comments
very hard, expects you to learn on your own
Excellent instructor, very easy to understand, explains information very well.
Nice guy, but too easy. Fill in the blank notes, tons of extra credit. Start treating your students like adults.
He's really in-depth and makes learning Chemistry pretty simple.
I have nothing but excellent things to say about Casadonte, he is the best professor i will probably ever had! his lectures are very engaging, he teaches using examples and makes the class enjoyable. His grading policy is more than fair. Casadonte takes teaching to a whole new level and he has received every teaching award at TTU!
Dr. Casadonte is an extremely good teacher. He is interesting in class and provides many practical examples. He holds review sessions and is constantly available for office hours. If you get the chance to take his class, it is an opportunity you should not pass by.
Awesome professor. He knows his material, is always prepared, and makes sure that there are plenty of opportunities in his class to keep your grade up.
Professor Casadonte is AMAZING. If you get a chance to take his class, don't even hesitate. He has super interesting stories and is practically a human encyclopedia. It's like paying half price for an Ivy League level professor who is willing to slow down and teach you everything he knows. I hate chem but I'm actually going to miss that class lol.
I hated chemistry, but Dr. Casadonte is a wonderful professor. He is extremely helpful and does his best to actually learn his students' names. The final in this class is harder than a regular general chemistry class, but the overall experienc emakes it worth it.
Great professor, he explains everything extremely well and has a great sense of humor!
Taught so well, and didn't move on until you understood! Tests were not hard, but not super easy. The course took effort, but it was great.
Very good intro to chemistry class. It is taught in a flipped manner (watch lectures online, get help with homework in class), which worked well for me. He kept things interesting, and there really were no downsides to this class.
One of the few professors who actually cares about his students individually! He did his best to help everyone get the grade the deserve.
Awesome teacher!! Super involved and makes chemistry way more bearable! Make sure to watch the lectures and do the homework!! Gives tons of extra credit.
Dr. Casadonte is the best teacher at TTU. I took him for Honors General Chem I & II. The material is not easy, but he is a good lecturer. He offers a lot of credit both on quizzes and exams. Quizzes were once a week, and tests were half multiple choice and half open-ended with "bonus questions." Great guy overall.
Great class! I had DC for Chemistry 1307 and 1308 Honors and he gives extra credit quizzes and you get a cheat sheet on your exams! Seriously the best class I had my freshman year!
Professor Casadonte is an EXCELLENT professor. He gives you every opportunity to excel in his class. You can correct your tests, there is a lot of different extra credit assignments, etc. He really cares for the students also. He is the kind of professor that will give you a ride home if you are in need. I STRONGLY recommend this professor.
Professor Casadonte's classes can be long and a little tedious, but he is a good teacher who really wants his students to learn. His class can be a little stressful with homework (at least for 1108) and his tests are usually very difficult, but he is generous enough with extra credit.
Seriously the honors Chem 1307 and 1308 is an easy A. Dr. Casadonte is an amazing teacher and makes understanding the fundamentals so much easier. Its an easy A because he's so good at teaching it. Watch the lecture videos and come prepared to class and you'll be just fine. He gives you everything you need to make an A
He is awesome!! Whether you get him for discussion or Recitation, deem yourself lucky. I had him for recitation, and he was nothing BUT helpful! If I would've had him for Lecture, I'd probably have a solid A. He's also very nice and approachable, so if you have any problems, he WILL help you!
Great professor who really cares if you understand the material- he will explain it three different ways if that's what it takes for you to understand it. He offers a lot of chances for extra credit and you basically can either show up to class and not watch the online lectures or skip class and watch everything online. Does offer test corrections.
Really nice guy who loves chemistry. He really wants you to end up with the A you want and will help you get there- explains everything really in depth, gives practice quizzes before quizzes, test reviews, a notecard for the test, test corrections, and theres a way to get out of the final too. easy online homework!
Most amazing professor out there! He really cares and wants his students to succeed. Also, he gives lots of extra credit opportunities and lets students use a notecard on tests. All of his students tend to do really well in his class.
Chem 1307 is hard for most freshman, but Dr. Casadonte does his best to make sure you learn. The class itself is not hard to do well in at all. There are plenty of opportunities to do extra credit and he cares more that you learn then that you cry yourself to sleep every night because of his class. He is most helpful in office hours.
Show up to class and recitation, do your homework, do the extra credit, and make sure you have a basic understanding of the concepts. This class is an easy A and Professor Casadonte is amazing. Really cares about the students and what they have going on in their professional and personal lives.
Go to class, do the problems at the end of each chapter, and take advantage of all the extra credit he gives you. He's an amazing professor who cares immensely about his students. Who else stays up literally all night to grade everyone's test by hand so you can have the results the next day and a chance to correct the test? His dedication is A +.
I love Dr. Casadonte and how he genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Pay attention in recitation before you take the quiz and do practice problems out of the textbook to get an A in the class. Lots of extra credit, a couple group projects, and a very chill teaching style. Clear lecturer and tries to make the lecture fun!
Dr. Casadonte is dedicated to his students and their success. He will make you earn your grade, but gives ample opportunities to get help. One of the best classes and professors I have ever had.
Hes awesome. If you can take him for anything do it. Hes very interactive and very visual, so if you dont get something by words, he will show it to you. Very cool guy.
there are so many extra credit opportunities in this class!
Easiest class I've taken at Tech. Great guy who really cares about his students. So much extra credit that it's normal to get over a 100 in this class. !00% highly recommend.
I hated doing the flipped classroom (watch lecture outside of class), but overall he was a great and caring teacher! There are lots of bonus questions on the exam, he lets you use a flashcard on the exam, and you can correct for half the points after the exam. Would recommend.
He offers an ACS Pre-test at the beginning of the semester and a Post-test at the end of the semester. If you score 90%ile on either of those exams, you automatically get an A in the class and won't have to take the final. Definitely worth studying for, and ACS offers a review guide for the test.
He offers a chance to make an A in the class and not take final by making 90th percentile on a pre or post test. Although I did not make that percentile and have to take the final, I'm still not super stressed bc he allows a notecard and has offered multiple extra credit opportunities through semester. Great prof who cares and loves what he does.
Awesome teacher. Really cares for his students. Sometimes a little difficult to understand his lectures, but the discussion sections make up for that. Even if he explains something and you dont get it, he will explain it multiple ways until you do. Very accessible.
For a student to receive anything less than an A would simply be because the student did not put forward the effort. Dr. Casadonte gives plenty of extra credit chances and test corrections. He even gives students the opportunity to receive an automatic A in the class if they score above the 90th percentile in the nation on a standardized exam.
Don't take CHEM 1307/1308 with any other professor. You get a notecard for every test, half points back on tests, quizzes are easy, and online homework is doable. Textbook not required at all. Lectures can be long and drawn out but can be informative. You can also get out of the final with the ACS pre-/post- exam at the beginning and end.
Goes very in depth and likes to make his lectures fun. Really prepares you and explains complex concepts well, I love him and would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Great professor. Easy A if you do the homework and take advantage of extra credit. Very funny, and incredibly respected. He's hard to impress, so don't expect to him to give you positive feedback if he doesn't mean it.
AMAZING!! hands down best professor ever. Genuinely cares about his students and wants them to pass. he knew all of our names, majors, what field we wanted to go into, what we did in high school, etc. as long as you watch the lectures and do the hw ur golden. go apply for the honors college so you can take his class.
Amazing professor, really cares about the material taught as well as the student. Video Lectures for every class, do the homework. Extra credit opportunities are available but definitely not an easy A. Learned a lot!
Well what can I say. Professors like this shouldn't be teaching college courses. He's way too easy. He treats students like babies. We need professors that treat us like adults. If you are planning on taking the MCAT, this is not the professor to take. Find someone who makes you learn and doesn't just try to get you to get out of his class
Has a flipped classroom where lectures are watched before class so more questions can be asked in class. Fun and inclusive to all in class. Attendance not mandatory but many grades taken in class. Has plenty of assignments so one exam doesn't ruin your grade plus plenty of extra credit. Teaches so that learning isn't work. 10/10 recommend.
Taking Chem 1307/1308 from any other professor would be a serious mistake. He cares about every student, and gives you opportunities to learn the content thoroughly and still get a good grade. He is such a great person, and super caring. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit, but most of it is aimed at making you learn the content.
A one of a kind professor. It is worth it to attend Texas Tech just to take a class taught by Dr. Casadonte. Put in the effort, take advantage of extra credit opportunities, and go to class, and you will make an A. He truly cares for his students on a level unlike any other teacher I have ever had.
Dr. Casadonte is an amazing professor. Not only does he make chemistry interesting and less daunting, but he also genuinely cares about his students. Taking his class made me change my major to chemistry. If you have the opportunity, take his 1307 & 1308 courses. An "A" is doable, but by no means "easy".
I absolutely love Dr. Casadonte. Took him for both Chem 1307 and 1308. He is the real deal as far as professors go. He always goes out of his way to help the students. I would highly recommend taking Dr. Casadonte's class if given the opportunity. He will give you a great foundation in chemistry while also getting to know you personally.
He's very very smart in his field and is highly respected. But I do think he is a bit overrated as far as teaching goes, yeah the class is pretty easy but teaching method could improve. I wouldn't say he was the best experience of Tech though.
Puts a lot of effort into teaching the classes, and will work with you to ensure your success. There are quizzes every Thursday (yay!!), so don't fall behind on the lectures. If you don't want to go to the early class he will let you go to whichever class works best for you
Casadonte is truly the best professor ever. He gives extra credit on every exam as well as other extra credit opportunities for your grade. He cares about each of his students and even though attendance is not mandatory, still go to class so you can learn and see this amazing human being.
Dr. Casadonte is a really great guy. He cares for his students and genuinely wants you to do well in his class. I had him for two semesters of honors gen chem and I got an A in both classes. And by no means am I good at chemistry either! However, you have to try hard and do all of the extra credit he offers! If he knows you care, youll get an A.
One of the best professors at Tech. I had zero high school chem background and took this as an honors class and did fine. Lots of extra credit. Go to lectures. An A is very doable but not easy. You have to give an effort. 2 weekly homework assignments and a quiz. took with 18 hours my freshman year and did fine.
His reputation precedes him. I do agree he's overrated. Gotta give him credit for helping us. My background knowledge from AP Chem helped on the ACS. There were concepts he doesn't formally teach on ACS, yet he generally looked down on people who took AP :( Ngl, I had a better/enriching experience learning with my classmates/teachers in AP Chem.
Dr. Casadonte is an amazing chemistry professor. Both his Chem 1307 & 1308 classes are designed for AP students, so if you payed attention in high school and watch the lectures, the class is a free A with all of the extra credit he gives. His lectures are amazing and thorough, and his exams are MC and FRQ (60-40), with extra credit. 10/10.
Dr. Casadonte is a great Honors professor. He really cares about his students and does a lot to make sure you succeed as long as you're reaching out. As long as you do the homework, quizzes, tests (with decend scores) and extra credit, you should end up with an A. His lectures are okay, but long and sometimes not very helpful.
I took his class in 2018/19, and he has been the best professor by far! He takes his time to explain problems to students, and flipped lecture made more room for in class examples. His review sessions really help, so go to them if you can!!! He is very personable and cares for his students. He makes it easy for you to succeed if you work for it.
Never had a professor care more about his students than Casadonte. He genuinely wants his students to succeed and always takes the time to personally know all of his students. The material is difficult but is presented in a way that makes sense. Very easy class all around, same goes for CHEM 1307.
Dr. Casadonte is probably one of my favorite professors hands down. He cares about his students deeply and is a great teacher! When you get the chance to go to his office hours and review sessions, do it, because they truly help! He made my first semester at Texas Tech really mean a lot!
Dr. Casadonte is an amazing professor! He is so caring, generous, and always looking to help you as long as you put in the effort. This is a very easy course to make an A as long as you try! He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and his sample quizzes/reviews are very similar to what he tests on!
AMAZING. Lets you bring your own notecard on all exams and final exam is NOT comprehensive. It is a very stress free form of chemistry which is rare. If you can TAKE HIM.
Casadonte was an amazing professor. If you are an honors student and you have the opportunity to take him, yes even if it's at 8am, take him! Most people get an A in his class for a reason. He teaches very well and can help you in and out of class if you don't understand something. Flipped classroom style and little homework.
Dr. C is probably one of the best professors ever. If you get the opportunity to take his class, it is an absolute must! I will be doing my undergraduate research under him this semester. He makes it easy to pass his class, just make sure you do all your assignments! He is one of the most caring people you will ever meet, dont take it for granted.
People always say his classes are for AP chem students, but I didn't take AP chem and succeed with just a bit more effort. He always emphasizes major points in lectures and never throws any curveballs on quizzes or exams. There are also plenty of opportunities for extra credit on his syllabus. He is incredibly well-respected on campus for a reason!
An absolute godsend! He is not only an amazing professor, he is an amazing mentor to all. If you plan on taking organic chem, I recommend taking him because the things he have taught have shown up through the entire semester of ochem 1! If you get the chance to take him you will not regret it. As long as you do the work you will get an A.
Casadonte gives a ton of extra credit so even if you struggle you're guaranteed a good grade. Two homework assignments due every week and is extremely easy to do. Video lectures tend to be long and do take a bit of time to take notes over. I did struggle on the three exams but like I said there's a lot of extra credit given. Take this professor!
The material of this class was very difficult. I hated how his lectures were online and you had to watch them before class. It was hard for me to grasp the lecture concept by watching it instead of having it taught to me in class. I also had a hard time following the way he explained the material in lectures. He does give lots of extra credit.
Dr. Casadonte made this class enjoyable even though it is not my major. This class did take up a majority of my time with the online lectures and homework assignments which was rough at times but I guess you have to learn the material one way or another. He cares very much for his students and asks each day if anyone would like to share anything.
Professor Casadonte is a really good teacher, even though I hate chemistry, I was able to learn the concepts fairly easily. He is also very lenient when it comes to grading, he drops a few quizzes and gives frequent extra credit. There's homework due before every class but it isn't too hard. Make sure to respect his time and don't interrupt.
Amazing Teacher take him if you ever struggle with chemistry
Casadonte is well-respected on campus for a reason. I have taken his Chem 1 and 2 classes and he is great. Be prepared for his class to take up a lot of your weekly schedule, but he does this so that you are always learning. He cares about all of his students and knows everyone by name. He is excellent, just do the work and you will get an A
GREATEST PROFESSOR FOR GEN CHEM AT TTU. MUST TAKE HIM
Dr. Casadonte one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are engaging and interactive. If you are confused, just raise your hand and he will help you understand. Although his class is difficult at times, there is a ton of extra credit to get your grade up to an A. Overall, his class is amazing.
This class is difficult. Casadonte is a great professor, but his lectures can sometimes ramble on. Then again, I'm not a fan of chemistry. If you're a fan, you will definitely love his lectures. To understand the content, you need to do as much independent learning as possible. Do not rely on the lectures. Attend study sessions, they help greatly.
He is a great professor and will help you every day if you need it. There's a lot of extra credit given, so if you do bad it's honestly on you. He's very kind and has reviews for practice quizzes and exams. The material is explained in detail and sometimes hard to understand, but if you ask for help he will for sure explain it.
He is a great professor. In my year, Only one person got a B; everyone else got an A out of 75 people. He is a very good professor and allows much time to understand concepts overall. Lots of extra credit, to the point where you can get over a 100 in the class if need be.
This course was a challenging but Casadonte is a great professor. He offers a lot of extra credit, he holds review sessions for quizzes and exams, and has office hours. There were multiple class lectures where I had no idea what was going on, but if you go to him he will help you.
Once again, Casadonte was amazing for chem 2. I took chem 1 with him, and 2 was definitely harder for me. Despite this, he was still such a good teacher and answered any questions you might have. By far my fav professor so far
He's like the Messi of chemistry and is super patient & teaches well. There's a lot of outside-of-class work but stay on top of it & you will do well. Gives a LOT of extra credit, group projects (easy), & straightforward quizzes + exams similar to the practice & reviews. Office hours are so helpful & no tricks; super kind and easy to contact.
Had this Professor for two semesters, amazing professor and human being. He would write problems on the whiteboards around the classroom then have students solve them then explain how answers were correct/incorrect. The overall workload for the class is moderate. It is a must to watch the recorded lectures before class/
Dr. Casadonte is a very unique professor. He has a different teaching style wherein it's mandatory to watch the lectures before going to the in-class ones, which proved to be a lot of work. Tests were fine if you thoroughly understood the material, and there were many extra credit chances that significantly raised my grade. Not much homework.
Maybe it wasn't just him, but the entire class environment felt frustrating. The setup—learning everything at home—just didn't work for me, and I don't think the people in that class helped either. I took Mason for 1308 and preferred his style a lot more. He just made the material easier to grasp, and the overall vibe in his class was way better.
One of the best Chemistry professors at TTU. Course was challenging, but Dr. C was always available to help during office hours. Graded fairly on exams. Very organized course and well-defined syllabus. Lots of homework and quizzes. Course was split with another professor, and had four exams plus a final. Attend class to succeed.
Clearly cares about students and there are lots of extra credit opportunities to keep your grade afloat. Even if you fail a test or two you can still manage to get an A if you put in the effort. Personally disliked the "flipped classroom" method where you watch the lectures AND do the homework at home, but overall still a great class.
Casadonte gave decent lectures, but the class required watching 3 online videos a week, with online homework for each one. Course was not difficult, but required a bit of work. Tons of extra credit is given for quizzes, tests, homework, and everything else, so the class is a very easy "A". Casadonte was mostly friendly, but sometimes a little rude.
Not only is he a great professor, but he is a good person. He cares for students and truly wants everyone to succeed.
Casadonte offers a lot of coursework and extra credit that can be great grade boosters (I have As these sections), but his exams are horrible (hence, the B). He gives you a practice exam that is nothing like the actual one and pulls the most random questions/topics that he barely touched on in class. Better than the other gen chem profs though.
Dr. Casadonte teaches some difficult classes, but what makes him such a good professor is that he truly cares about students' wellbeing. He has lots of extra credit opportunities and he's always so friendly and willing to work with you during office hours. I'm taking him again next semester. Highly recommend.
Best professor I've ever had. Watching lectures and doing homework before the class was a bit weird but it worked out. The class is still hard, but he gives out a lot of extra credit and has reviews before each exam and quiz so it evens out. Has a lot of office hours, teaches well, and cares about students in and out of the classroom.
he offers lots of extra credit opportunities, and grades exams with partial credit. lectures are a little slow but helpful for exams.
Casadonte is a phenomenal professor! He is incredibly passionate about chemistry and it really shows. Overall his class is pretty easy. He offers TONS of extra credit, his quizzes are usually easy, and he is a very nice grader (lots of partial credit). The hardest part are the exams. Just study in class problems and understand the "why" to succeed!
Dr. Casadonte is a very reasonable professor. He really cares about your grades as well as you outside of class. He's very easy to talk to and he will definitely be generous with his grading. I would definitely recommend taking his classes, they made me feel very prepared for college courses overall.
Professor Casadonte is an awesome professor. He is incredibly personable and cares about his students deeply. He has videos you watch before class and goes into more detail during class with examples. He offers lots of extra credit and really wants his students to succeed. He also has reviews before all exams and quizzes that are super helpful.
I disliked the "Flipped classroom" method that he uses. There is a 1 hour online lecture before class and he expects you to submit the homework for the topic before it is seen in class. He was a very kind guy. He gives partial credit. He was upset about his class having engineering students in it. He wants pre-med who will be taking both 1307&8
