interesting lecture. clear explanation with a lot of interesting examples, &for this reason, note-taking was easy. if you are not a student who doesn't always attend a class, don't take his course. many questions are from the lecture.

The Don is a thoroughly great teacher. He demands a lot from his class, but he's willing to help you do well. His class is a time-sucker though. Major asmts due two days after being introduced. Do NOT have a life outside this class. Still happy I took it.

It's my second year at Langara and he's the best teacher I've had so far. He thinks about his students as human beings and not little robots that can write up term papers in a week. Gives lots of time on the one assignment and tests are fair as well

Don is by far the best prof I have ever had. His lectures are always fun and never dry. Relates everything to his life I swear he knows a million people and their names. he is very approachable and willing to help with anything you may want to know.

Excellent teacher. He makes the class very interesting, and there's no way you can fall asleep. But he is a hard marker (75%-84% is still the B range).

I was at langara for 2yrs, am now at SFU and Don is the most comprehensive teacher I have ever had. He is funny, he has had an interesting life and will share stories. He acts like he knows everything but that's okay cause HE DOES

Don is good ,his explanation is ok,but sometimes not quite clear.BUT ,his scaling is SUCKS ,77 still B- ,so it's better don't take his course ,besides that his exams are not easy too.There are 4 quiz which worth 10% each ,that's crazy.

Dude is funny as hell. The course is tough with lots of testing but if you keep up with the reading, you'll do fine. The grade scaling is a bit funny though. You'll need pretty high percentages to get good marks.

Don Allen is a very efficient teacher. He uses stories to relate the the material which makes class easier to listen to and learn from. He also makes himself available to students for help and has a website with additional information.

Great teacher, always funny, nobody will feel bored in his class. However, extremely strict with those who violate his rules. When he says stop at the end of the exam, drop your pen at once unless you want your paper to be torn up.

He's interesting and humurous but it's SUPER HARD.You will need ALOT of time outside of class for this course. there's no time to slack, I have never seem a prof as many times as i did until this course.

This class is HARD no doubt about it.. It will challenge you mentally, and consume tons of time and energy, and push you to the brink both mentally and emotionally.However, it is not impossible to do well, I'm not a psych major and i did fairly well B range, get help from Don He wants you to succeed

I still remember the things he taught me after 2 yrs now n it has continued to help me in my present psyc studies. There'r lots of work in this class but he offers so much help that u can ace it if u work hard.

He loves himself. He subtly slips in his interests and activities when hes talking. Hes got an ok sense of humour, the class is ridiculously easy if you study, but incredibly boring. He does have some cool stories though.

This guy is hiliarious. Every class he has at least 2 funny stories that relates to psych. His notes are a bit poor, but it's all good. His funny stories make up for the poor notes. Tests concentrate on both reading material and lectures.

Very, Very helpful and available. Obviously loves teaching. Gives you the tools, and expects you to learn how to use them. A difficult class, can't imagine taking it without Dons help.

Don is a great teacher. He teaches the material well and makes class sound interesting by making jokes. If you want an A+, you have to work really hard. I only got a B+ and I studied alot. His tests and quizes are fair but there are always a few questions that are tricky.

don is an excellent teacher. he is very engaging and made the course content interesting. although some questions on the exams were difficult, overall it was fair. his jokes and stories added lightness to what could be a boring class. when i went to ubc for an upper level course, the content flowed easily.

I took this a whiel back. I enjoyed his class, did fairly well. It was straightforward and he is easy to understand. His stories were sometimes questionable, but it made the class entertaining. I think he tried hitting on me once, which was somewhat peculiar (he has a partner), but then I had nice conversations with him outside of class.

Indeed an interesting prof. Great sense of humour mixed with his amazingly colorful personal experiences with whatever subjects he talks about. A little hard to follow his lectures be cause he won't write down more than 10 words for one class. Exams are fairly easy. Oh and he actually made me WANT to go to his class just for fun. good lectures, lots of FUNNy stories, got me interested in psychology. 4quizes (10%each) 1miderm(20%) 1paper(20%) and Final (20%), all tests are MC 45-60questions. was really easy on the term paper.. i mean REALLY easy! i got an A on it and i just followed his sample paper =D. Recommend his class. yeah he kinda looks like Dewey =P

I just took him in Sum2006. He is an AWESOME teacher. His class is very interesting, he makes lots of jokes-VERY FUNNY. His TESTS are not very hard, all multiple choices, around 50-55 questions. Read the STUDY GUIDE-Very Helpful! He is a fair marker and is very helpful!! His Assignment, is not hard, and is very specific! Im telling ya: TAKE HIM!!

He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He isn't hard if you put in the work. I did a lot of studying and got an A- but it was fun. I just made flashcards. It's only multiple choice for the quizzes and one research paper. He wants you to get a good grade.

Not for slackers. His exams are rough w/ lots of Q's w/ not enough time. If you take a few mins to think, you can barely finish the exams. Know the textbook for the M/C. Get help with your assgs!!. His stories keep class interesting. DON'T SLACK W/ PROJECT. My grade dropped down from this. He's VERY helpful so don't be afraid. Tough but doable.

Don spends most of the class story telling and not getting into the "guts" of any subjects. I found it funny how he knew someone or some story for every psychological disorder we covered. However, he is a nice guy and willing to help. He gave the class his Whistler number if we had any questions on the weekend. Advice: READ the text = A

Don is a very funny and passionate prof.Altho some ppl might think his lectures r not that helpful,at least he has brought everyone's interest on psychology.I really enjoyed attending his classes n listened to the stories.He makes u laugh!plus,think how hard it is to make a pscy class interesting!

This course has a VERY HEAVY workload. Do not take it if you are taking a lot of courses. Don was very helpful and supportive. Have him check your papers at least once before handing in. Also, for the exams, work really fast since there are a lot of questions and not enough time!!! The key to this class is to be on top of everything, esp. the proj.

The best teacher I've had so far. For intro psych you don't so much as to need the textbook, but the study guide is key. A lot of work and he's strict but he's very smart and has great stories.

I took this class thinking I wouldn't really find the content interesting, but with every new chapter we studied I became more and more interested. I like Don a lot; he tells great anecdotes that relate to the content and help you remember things. His tests are difficult, but at least it's all multiple choice. Just be sure to study the textbook!

very helpful outside of class. MAKE SURE you see him for all of your assignments! You're almost guaranteed to get 100% if you do. Won 1000$ on research project which was awesome. See him for the project and follow the sample papers as a guide. Study hard for MC on exams. Short answer Qs are pretty straightforward and reflect lectures.

Absolutely EPIC. Worth coming just for the stories. Tons of experience in the field. Hilarious guy. Challenging, but he offers to read over you paper before handing it in. He tells you what he likes about it and doesnt. If you fix it up after that, you should get a solid B. I would recommend him.

psych is one of those courses where you have to read ahead of class to fully understand it. Don really makes it a fun class, very knowledgeable and lots of experience. One of the best Langara has to offer.
