Fantastic teacher. Presents the material very clearly, good handouts, tests on the material covered in class so good if you don't like to read the textbook. Good sense of humor. Shows movies in class related to material.

cool guy, a bit fruity - but cool nonetheless, very entertaining, his class is fun and you get to learn at the class's pace, which is generally a pretty comfortable pace. Not to mention take-home/open-book exams.

AWESOME instructor!! Mr. Devers makes learning exciting. He is very knowledgeable. I wish other instructors would learn a few teaching techniques from him. Although the use of curse words could be ommitted from the lectures. Overall, no real complaints.

Highly recommend taking this lifespan psychology class. It was nice to have take home exams, since I and others in the class worked full time. Really enjoyed the movies that pertained to class. Would take another class with him if I could!

If you take good notes, attend class and do the take home quiz every week it's IMPOSSIBLE to not get and A. If going to class isn't your thing DO NOT take this class. He actually makes learning statistics fun and if he teaches more than one section you can alternate what class you go to if needed.

A little rude in his language, but overall a really good teacher. Sometimes though he seems like he needs a new job, because if you go into the same class two different times, on the same day the dialogue is EXACTLY the same, same jokes, lesson everything.

never a dull moment in this class--this guy is so fun! loose on grading and attendence, easy assignments. he is very care free, yet helpful. oral assignment at the end of the year, but you get to choose partners and the class setting is so laid back that it was a breeze. a got an A

He's very open in the lectures - relating the topics to things EVERYONE can understand. He's so focused on helping the students learn that he'll do anything he can in order to help. He's loud, he's fun and he makes things fair. Just do his TAKE HOME tests and you're good.

I took human sexuality, research and stats with devers. He is an awesome teacher and if you like sexual humor you'll be laughing so hard in this class. definetely recommend taking human sexuality so interesting.

Great Professor, teaches sooooo well, made statistics make sense. His class is never boring, he always has something intriguing to say-which usually turns out to be hilarious. Enjoyed him a lot, great class.

Awesome teacher. He is very informative and helpful if you have questions. Really nice guy and is there for you to succeed. If you go to class and do homework (which isn't hard) you can definately get a good grade. Either way you will enjoy his great sense of humor.

Take home exams, open note/open book final exam and also an optional exam at the end (if u really need it)......teaches very well, very clear and explains fully.......SIGN UP 4 THE CLASS BEFORE IT'S FULL!!!!!!

Devers classes are awesome. Stats with him was so much better then I thought it would be. Still hard but he made the explanations so much easier to understand. Do the take home quizzes and go to class and you'll do well.

I took psy 231/2 back to back with him summer '05, and I am now in his class taking psy 213. This man can teach. He teaches the old fashion way to make any one pay attention and learn. He writes his notes on the board, hello all professors!!!. He is very good.

This class was really very easy. Professor Devers makes this difficult subject very easy to understand. Pay attention in class and you will get an A. Most of the exams are take home. He is also very funny.

Devers' presentation of the material is very systematic, and tests are totally manageable as long you use your class notes and the textbook. I am in a large class, so there is understandably little discussion, but he thoroughly/accurately answers questions. He is obviously adept at teaching psych and I highly recommend him.

Devers is the man. He teaches in a such a refreshingly practical way - my notes from 201/202 still come in handy for my bio and anatomy classes. I'm thankful to have had him at NVCC, but this man belongs in a legitimate university setting.

I absolutely love Dr. Devers, I have had him before for 242 and his extensive knowledge of the material allows for development of presentation so that anyone could understand the material. Homework is VERY light and tests are easy if you do the homework. He loves participation and he treats every single student with respect and dignity!

He loves to teach and it shows. He can totally take a complex subject and present it in a easy to grasp way by using a funny down to Earth attitude! Take Lots of notes,(in fact you can just copy what he writes and ask questions if you do get lost and you'll get an A, but more important you'll get stats!

I have taken Devers for four different classes. I think Devers is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is funny and makes the class very interesting. He is always willing to help if you ask and likes to challenge his students. If you do the work assigned than you should get an A. His lectures are very interesting. TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!!

Outstanding in method of teaching and reader friendly handouts for study. I have a math phobia and for the first time understood right away 95% of what was being taught. I really enjoyed Dr.Devers class, I wish he was teaching stats in the math department.

Devers is hillarious, smart, witty, TOOO NICE... he teachers very well, breaks down materials in a wise way, provides rational examples to aid in comprehension and boost our interest in Stats, strives for students success, cares, overall, he's a 9/10 rating to me. other professors should be non-anal like this guy. he teachers and loves students.

Professor Devers is one of the greatest teachers at NOVA. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to psychology and to make his material more coherent, he uses many witty/memorable examples. No textbook is needed if you show up to class and take good notes. Psychology is a hard subject but if you take him, I guarantee that you'll enjoy his class.

Devers is the man! I took him for psych 201 & 202. All of the exams are take home except one! They are super easy anyways and he's a very easy grader! Go to class,listen to lectures (which are entertaining bc he cusses alot and uses examples that interests us), take notes, get an A! Easy as pie go sign up already :)

Def the best teacher!! If you are taking a class that he teaches u def need to sign up for him... The key to his class show up to all classes, take evening classes if possible, I was very outspoken in the class always ask questions be borderline annoying...lol He would literally ask me what time class should end. Dont buy the book just show up.

Best Psychology teacher. I love his teaching style. I took PSY 231 in the summer. We had to write 1 paper, do 1 simple project, 2 take home exams (where u have to answer 2 questions, EASY). He gave extra credit on the last day, u had to answer some questions after watching the movie School of Rock, lol.

Professor Devers is decent. He makes it where you can pass his class. We had some take home quizzes and a group project. You can def. pass and learn a thing or two with him. If you are not paying attention he will scream to get the class attention!! kinda scary =(

Cool guy although Psy 211 is hard and if you are not willing to work, don't even bother. He is overated, I don't think I would take him again.

Devers is amazing! 4 exams all open book, 3 were take home. 1 research project required and the final is optional. Class is straight lecture so you MUST take good notes. Hilarious guy, makes the material interesting and keeps the class entertained. If you put forth decent effort you'll get an easy A like me. If you gotta take Psych, take Devers!

He is an awesome teacher. He is very clear on what you have to study to get a good grade in his class. I would definitely recommend taking him for any psychology classes you might have to take.

Easy A, interesting material. Don't bother buying textbook since you never have to use if as long as you take notes in class (big waste of money). All take home exams except one (which was open book). Optional final (for replacing lowest test grade). Grade purely based on exams, so spend 1.5hours on them and will be okay.

Great Teacher

I highly reccommend Prof Devers for Psy213! He is down to earth and explains the subject clearly and in relatable terms. All of the quizzes (the only assignments) are take-home. Show up and pay attention and you'll be fine! YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY THE TEXTBOOK! All needed tables can be found on the web or scanned from the book in the library.

Easy peasy!!! no tests! just 11 take-home quizzes that you'll need to work on (i did them the day b4 due). NO final. i hate math, but he made it fun with his jokes and bohemic style! GREAT TEACHER!

11 take home quizzes, no exams, just a few in class, non-graded assignments. Easy-going: h/w, if you don't follow his EXACT instructions on the quizzes (all math must be shown) u will get pts deducted. Very bohemic style, funny. gives time limited extra credit.

Possibly the BEST psychology professor I had at NOVA. He is funny which makes the class interesting. His quizzes are pretty easy, very helpful and easy to talk to. Depending on which class you take with him you may or may not use textbook. I took Stats and Developmental Psych with him. I highly recommend BOTH of his classes

Very easy class. All exams except the last one were take home and the final is optional. Barely any homework. You can leave class as soon as you sign the attendance sheet. He isn't the best communicator though which annoyed me a little. But he is a funny guy and it's a hard class to do poorly in.

He is a fun teacher. He does swear a lot so if that really bothers you you may consider taking somebody else.I would definitely recommend sitting in the front because he does move through his lectures pretty quickly but he makes it very interesting and gives good examples.He's a pretty easy grader and seems very laid back overall.I'd take him again

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I had him for statistics over summer 2012 and enjoyed it so much I arranged my schedule just so I could take PSYCH 270 with him in the fall. Ignore the very few negative ratings! He clearly knows what he's talking about, he is very clear about how to get the grade you want, and he makes lectures fun, engaging, and interesting.

No reason to get anything less than an A in this class. 5 exams, 4 of them are take home. There's an optional final that can take the place of one of the 5 exams. Easy class. No homework, attendance is mandatory. Odd guy, loves to curse and is very open. Doesn't tolerate BS and will be accommodating if you're honest with him.

I mean he made several pizzas by hand and brought them for US to eat!! hes fantastic and made me want to go to class, even his assignments were fun.

Don Devers has been teaching Psychology since I was at NOVA back in mid-80s. He knows his stuff. As long as you go to class, pay attention and take good notes (yes, in the old days you had to attend class) you will make an A. He is fair and reasonable but he won't, and shouldn't, give easy A's for nothing!
