One of the best teachers you'll ever have. Not only is he a great professor, but he's a great man. He's enthusiastic, fun, intelligent, and, most of all, passionate. He creates an atmosphere in the classroom that you'll be grateful for. LOVES HIS STUDENTS. Supportive person who truly cares. Couldn't say enough about how great this man is.

This was a great class, not everyone may fully appreciated the teaching style but anyone can grow to like it if they give it a chance. There are books that need to be read but no test, quizzes, or papers.

Doc was hands down the best teacher I've had so far at UDM. He's incredibly approachable and easy to talk to. His class is challenging and requires you to participate and think as an individual. Thanks to him, I developed a better sense of self and a desire to become a teacher. This is a must take class. Side note: He always looks smooth.

I loved this class. If you are thinking about going into Education as a major you must take this class. It will really help you make your decision and you will be happy you chose to take the class. I loved everyday of it and didn't miss a single class. I wish I felt this way about some of my other classes. Overall best teacher by far! :)

Dr. D is a wonderful professor who cares as much about the students' learning as he does for education. I walked out of his class with increased knowledge of the education system and of my role in it. Hands down, Dr. Don is one of the best teachers I've ever had.

Everyone at UDM should be taking this course. Dr. D is the type of professor who cares about every student and doesn't use traditional teaching methods. He is looking for each student to give 100% for 2.5 hours once a week and it is well worth it. It is unlike any other course that you will take, anywhere! This course is inspirational. PARTICIPATE!

His emotional investment in the class is without equal, and because of it as a student you feel iclined to participate and do your best. Always brings energy, even for a long night class. Doesn't believe in exams but instead you must do a final portfolio. Really great teacher and probably will be the best class you've ever taken in college. I didn't expect to learn much but I learned essential details about myself that will help in the long run. Must take class even if you're not thinking about the leadership minor, it's that great.

Please be a quality student and read. You will get so much more out of the class if you read the corresponding chapters. The only "homework" is coming prepared to class. The reading is light, and it's interesting because you get the chance to say, "hmm, is that me?" and then you find out in class. Be a leader and read.

Dr Don made lead 2000 my most enjoyable class of my first semester. He was very understanding about schedules and always started and ended every class with with a hug or handshake. He cared a lot about each and every student and challenged them to expand past their comfort zones. This caused each person to really find and develop themselves.

Dr. Don was very organized from day 1. The syllabus is very clear and any changes done to it was clearly stated to the class. Dr. Don is such an amazing teacher. He is very kind and understanding. The classroom atmosphere he creates is so comfortable and casual, but still productive. Both books are required and used in the class and he occasionally gives reading checks, but they aren't hard at all. Participation is important in this class, but it isn't stressful at all.

Lead2000 teaches you a lot about leadership and yourself. Youll learn about who you are and how youre most effective as a leader. Youll have occasional reading checks and a portfolio at the end of the year but thats all! Dr. Don is a professor that really cares for you. I loved this class and would definitely be take it again!

The class is heavily weighted on participation and attendance. You are expected to be comfortable in small and large groups in which you will have to share ideas. The class is not about grades or learning content out of a book, but about growing as a leader and a person.

The very first class he makes his way around to shake everybodys hand in at the end of class dance at the door that again shake everybodys hand as they walk out. To me this is just one little snippet of how awesome of a professor he truly is his class is inspirational and highly recommended

I loved this class, and think it should be essential for every student, regardless of major or minor. Its very reflective on who you are as a person, and is geared towards real world scenarios that anyone will encounter, regardless of profession .

Absolutely great class. I thought leadership class would be boring and will learn nothing out of it. But learned a lot of things throughout the course. Also, Dr. Don is the best professor I have met in my college life.

Dr. Don is an amazing professor that really cares about his students and brings the best out of everyone. Dr. Don is the best professor I have had at the University of Detroit Mercy. His class is very inspirational and he truly cares about every student. This class allows you to learn so much about yourself and is the most beneficial class I have ever taken. Attendance should not be a problem because you will look forward to every session.

I was somewhat hesitant when signing up for this class, but doing so was the best decision Ive ever made. I learned so much about myself and how to be a better leader, it was honestly mind blowing. I wouldnt be the person or leader that I am today without this class and if you want to improve your life as a whole, sign up for this class ASAP!

You must participate to get the most out of this class. It was a little challenging for me because it was tough for me to participate at first, but the TAs and the professor provided a welcoming environment, and I was able to succeed. Do your hw and go to class every week (easy!)! Dr. Don is really passionate and professional in his field.

Hands down the best class Ive ever taken. Its a class that is catered to the individual through a larger whole lens that shifts your perspective on your entire live. There are so many good things that I can say about Dr. Don DiPaolo, and the leadership course. He is an excellent professor, leader, and mentor. He delivers course material in a way that allows you to interact with other students and grow as a leader. I would highly recommend this course because of Dr. Don and his ability to help students evolve.

Dr. Don is an amazing person and an amazing professor who is passionate and cares about what you get out of his class. Not like other classes with information being thrown at you. Class is a discussion and lets you think of the world in a diff way & let you know a little bit more about yourself! Workload is not too heavy either. Participation is KEY, you have to feel comf talking. Come to class prepared, unbiased, full of love and ready to discuss. Dr. Don a gem!

Overall Great Professor. I enjoyed my time in this class and felt as though this should be a required class for all majors. I learned so much about myself that I would have never known otherwise. You will not regret this class. Show up on time, do the readings, and most of all PARTICIPATE. Doing those things will get you a lot more than a grade.

This course helps you realize your leadership qualities and styles. The course was engaging. Must show up weekly in order to understand the material and prepare for the end of term 20 page portfolio. The portfolio is a reflection of the information that you learned over the semester. The course is uplifting! I enjoyed the course tremdously!

One of the best professors Ive ever had! Ive learned more about myself in a semester than I have in my 21 years of life. I learned what type of leader I am, and I learned my parents leadership style which helped me solve a lot of conflict! I am beyond thankful for Dr. Don and his time and assistance! In this class, what matters the most is volunteering outside of class and completing the reading checks periodically throughout the semester. This is one of the best classes I have ever taken in my time at the University of Detroit Mercy, and it is Dr. Don that made this class so incredible. I happen to enjoy the non-traditional education format that Dr. Don offered. Everything was discussion based and encouraged me to be incredibly introspective.

The most amazing professor you can take in your college career. Dr. Don teaches from the bottom of his heart and truly wants nothing but his students to become successful leaders. If you're considering a leadership minor - DO IT. I had more personal growth in this class than in my entire college career. Would give Dr. Don 10 stars if I could.

Dr. Don explained ways to earn desired grades, allowing four months to prepare for a portfolio and providing resources such as Teaching Assistants, study buddies, or himself to contact. As an introvert, I still earned an A, thanks to Dr. Don's understanding and fair grading. I missed one class, but Dr. Don provided easy options for makeup work.

Dr.Don's an exceptional professor. He's familiar and educated about different religions & cultures, & funny which helps you feel welcome in class. What to expect is said on the FIRST day, the course isn't for you if you can't follow through. Participate, attend class, complete portfolio (explained @ the start of semester) and you should get an A.

Dr.Don's class was really refreshing. I came into it taking it for a credit, and left w an added minor in leadership. Class was well organized and fun, and he makes sure you have the resources to succeed, TA's, study buddies, him, and even provided resources for service hours. His personality is incomparable. Take his class, you'll be glad you did!

BEST professor! I learned so much in this class that will help me for my future especially in the medical field. He was able to bring the best out of people. He loves getting people out of their shell but if you are not ready he WONT force it on you, which I love. If there is one class I recommend at this university it is this class.

Dr D was quite literally the best professor I have ever had. This class is a must take as well. For someone used to biology and chemistry classes this was such a nice break and gives you so much insight into real life situations and how to handle them. Dr D directed this class very professionally, fun and easy to follow.

Dr. Don is a great professor that cares about your education. His class is super chill and you barely have any homework. He does not have exams, but rather quizzes that he tells you what the two or three questions going to be a week in advance. You will learn a lot about yourself as a leader in Dr. Don's courses. Overall, it was an easy class.

Leadership with Dr. Don was the best, and was the reason I began loving my college experience. His classroom created a culture that invited students to be vulnerable and supportive towards each other. Truly the best Professor in my entire college experience!

As someone with a lot of leadership experience I had very low expectations coming in but was pleasantly surprised. The class was largely discussions in class and occasional hw in the form of reading or a survey. Keep an open mind and participate and you'll easily pass with an A.

This class is what YOU make of it. You will go in and out completely different people. Amazing class, amazing professor, amazing opportunity.

Very passionate about teaching students about leadership skills for our careers. Anytime help was needed, I got it. As it was a leadership class he encouraged us to be more confident in standing and speaking in front of our class. I further improved my public speaking skills. The University of Detroit Mercy is luck to have a professor like him.

I found Dr. Don to be truly inspirational. I took the course because it was one of the required integrated themes and I was captivated by his enthusiastic lectures. This leadership class so inspired me that I went into the Leadership Minor and took Lead 4000 and worked toward receiving the leadership pin and medallion.

Did a good job with pressing forward the concepts of the class. Can be stubborn but, that was for the better of the students.

Dr. Don is easily one of my favorite professors! His class was engaging and interactive. Not much was expected of us other than participation in the class discussion and a project near the end of the course. I definitely think I have improved as a leader and even as a person after this course.

Dr. Don is beyond understanding and will do his best to help you any way he can, so long as you are at least trying yourself. With that being said, he will focus heavily on participation within the course, and the more you participate, the better time you will have. Dr. Don makes class enjoyable as what he discusses is relatable to everyone.
