He is the best math teacher ever!! He is way organized and talks in terms you can understand!
Wil make you work for your grade but makes the material easy to understand adn would always go out of his way to help.
Good Teacher! I understood the material very well. He teachers clearly and in a way that is easier to understand. I did better in 1050 then in 1010 in his class. Great guy.
Good teacher. Makes you work and expects you to study. Teaches the material in a way you can understand.
best math teacher at UVSC! makes the material so much easier to undrestand. as long as you go to class and do your assignments you'll get the grade you want.
Great teacher. He knows how to make you understand the material. I never took math 1010 and jumping into math 1050 I did really good. If you take 1050 take it with Faurot.
He is the best math teacher I have had at UVSC. He sincerely cares about all of the students and teaches in an interesting and easy to understand manner.
good teacher. came to study groups when we asked him to. gave good, clear examples in class. has no curve but is very lenient when grading the test. gives you credit for understanding the principle even if you forget to carry the negative sign. he warms up to you in class and is kind of funny.
Real nice guy. Homework and tests are not excessive in content or detail. Some credit awarded for effort though no curve. Most math teachers don't provide any formulas on tests, even horribly long complex ones. This teacher will occassionally provide students with one or two on tests.
Just reaffirming what has already been said. I got a bad grade, at least for me, but Dr. Faurot is an excellent teacher.
Dr. Faurot is the best math teacher at UVSC. He cares about each student and will work with anyone to help them pass the class.
Best Teacher ever! I've always struggled with math, and im talking really struggled. Mr. Faurot explained things in a way that really clicked for me. Yeah, you gotta work hard, but he's so willing to help. I finished with an A-.
This guy was the best teacher I have ever had. I HATE math... and everything he taught just stuck with me. Not that it was easy... but it was easy for me because I understood the way he taught. He was AWESOME!
can i say the nicest guy ever?? serious. he totally went way above & beyond the call of duty to help out a student he barely knew. class was overbooked & he knew how much i'd worked my butt off and studied,..when drop day came, i got dropped, but not w/o him putting up a HUGE fight for me. what teacher would do that for some random student? Faurot!
He was so hard! He doesn't explain things very clear and he's so monotone. He doesn't allow a lot of class participation and lectures sooooooooooo much!! He wouldn't be one I recommend for a math teacher...
He grades his tests very unmercifully. If you miss one point on any question, your grade will go down dramatically. He is a goofy guy but has clear examples. The only complaint I have about him is the way he grades his tests. Calculus is tough no matter who you take it from.
Extremely good teacher. Grading is a little picky but as long as you attend class and are willing to ask questions you will get a good grade. He makes sure every thing is clear before moving on and is always willing to help out after class and during office hours if you have any questions.
Professor Faurot is a great teacher. Even if you are bad at math, if you do the homework and keep up with class lectures, you'll get a fair grade.
This man is the best math teacher I have EVER had. He helps you understand math not just memorize concepts. He is very thorough and is easy to understand. He gives you the benefit of the doubt when grading tests. He reviews for each test and gives particial credit for answers. He is GREAT!
He is a good teacher. If you do your homework and pay attention in class, you will be ok. He gives partial credit on tests if you show your work and the answer is still wrong.
The BEST math teacher ever. He isnt up tight, he likes to joke around and actually makes friends with his students. He involves them in the class and he it easy to talk to. I found it easier because he showed more than one way to solve the problem if the other ways didnt work. everyone should have him as a teacher. My favorite Math class ever.
One of the best teachers I've ever had...and I've completed about ~280 credits in college and graduate school combined =/. If you take Calc from someone else you are foregoing a great opportunity. Fun, insightful, and a joy to see each morning <3!
he is so nice!!! the nicest guy ever but the hardest class, I am going to retake it b/c those tests killed me!!!!
GREAT professor! Teaches principles clearly and in as many different ways as needed so everybody stays on the same page. Homework most days but it never seemed like busy work. Test are tough, but that's because it's math. It's apparent he enjoys what he teaches and has an actual interest in seeing students succeed. Highly recommended.
He is awesome. Great teacher and knows his stuff and knows how to teach so you can understand. Helps you out a lot and on the tests he will be pretty charitable.
nice guy, always willing to help. i didnt bother buying the book or doing a single assignment but i remembered everything from his lectures and did fine on everything, even the final. just studied once. pretty easy if you did well in high school math.
Faurot is excellent at teaching math. He gives partial credit on tests. Doing and understanding the homework is a must. Math can be difficult at times, but that's the nature of the beast. I highly recommend Faurot.
He is easily one of the best teachers at UVSC that I have taken in my 2 years there. He is fuuny and makes math fun to learn. His tests are hard and you do need to study but I can't imagine a better math teacher. I 100% recommend him!
Good teacher. Intelligent, but his humor is a little dry, but whose isn't at times. Very helpful if confused on an area of the subject. Considering the book UVSC uses is VERY amibiguous, he does well in explaining everything. Gives partial credit on tests which is a must. His overall grading is a little skewed in my opinion, but I got an A-.
The best teacher ever. Knows how to teach and has fun with the class. He likes to see you succeed and do well in math. The class isn't easy but he makes it possible to pass the class. Take him for all of your math classes, well worth it.
Prof. Faurot is easily the best math teach I've had. He has some very good teaching methods. He gives partial credit on test questions. The assignments are a must if you want to understand the subject!
He is hard, but I still got a good grade in his class. He teaches so that he helps you understand what you are learning.
Calculus is hard at times. Faurot explains concepts very well. His tests questions are like the ones done in the home work. He gives partial credit on tests, but it is unclear how he grades the tests. I would recommend him to everyone.
Prof. Don Faurot, teaches really well and tries to make class fun. Only the tests just seems to have questions that stump you, even when you understand the homework. Don't miss a class you'll miss to much. If you do all the homework, you should get a passing grade.
Very clear and easy to understand. Extremely patient.
Good teacher. Probably one of the best at explaining complex math topics I have had. Takes time to show why things are the way they are. Best Calculus professor at UVU
Professor Faurot was great. If you pay attention in class go everyday and work to understand the concepts you will get a good grade.
I had a hard time with him. I took Business Cal from him, then later switched my major so I had to take Cal 1. My Cal 1 teacher was so much better (Gary Carlson), it was ridiculous. Faurot is good for some (most) people, but his logic was very different than mine, so it clashed with my learning. If you are a science brain, take someone else.
I had taken Calculus once before, and I just couldn't get the concepts. But he made everything so clear, and he took time to explain WHY rather than just expecting the students to know the concept without any background reasoning. I would recommend him to anyone -- great professor.
He taught clear and good. Not many quizes and he will tell you exactly whats on them. Homework is do it or don't for grade, and i like that he goes over hard ones. He goes over whats on the in class tests good, the subject is just hard. At first I didn't think I would like him (skiny hippy) but he's good to take! just study!!
Don is a nice guy and he's good at teaching his subjects. He uses real-world examples to make conceptual mathematics clear. Homework is typically assigned daily, but is not usually overwhelming. Tests are generally easy, and he grades them mercifully (but be sure to show your work). I would recommend him to anyone taking the course.
Great Professor. I did better in this Calc 2 class than I did in my calc 1 class and I had taken calc 1 before. He does a great job of explaining things and teaching hard concepts
BEST TEACHER! Maybe it was because his teaching style was like my dad's, but I loved his class. He was very helpful to me and very willing to give any help needed. He will know your name, and try to get to know you in class. His class is never a waste of time.
This class was tough but Don is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. Hope to take a couple more of his classes.
Super nice guy. Terrible hair. He's extremely helpful and organized, which I always respect in a teacher. My biggest qualm with him is his picky grading, but as long as you follow his instructions carefully and study EXACTLY what he goes over in the exam reviews you should be fine.
Very, very hard class. But Don makes it as interesting and easy as possible. Probably the best math teacher I've ever had (and I've taken ALOT). Highly recommended if you have to take Calc 2 and need to understand the material and want a fair grade.
You better learn how to do things his way, probably the strictest teacher I've ever had for grading also very bias on grading tests I already knew calc before this class but teacher didn't understand my proceedures so he I would get marked wrong even when I had the right answer VERY IRRITATING and others who got the wrong answer got credit anyway.
If you are already GREAT at calculus, you should do fine. Otherwise, expect no mercy and unreasonably difficult exams. Can only drop 2 hmwk assmnts out of a million that you turn in. No dropping of any exams. Do not take this class with any other demanding class.
I can't say enough good things about this professor. He's like your favorite high school teacher. He cares. Learns everyones names, is extremely helpful and flexible. He lets you rework your tests and couts it as an extra assignment. Just wants you to learn the material. I can't see any clearer way to teach Calculus than his way. Take him.
His lectures are awesome; he writes down everything so it's easy to take notes. There are alot of homework yes, but usually they are odd numbers so you can look at the solutions and it helps you learn the section. And best of all, he has a personality! Nerdish but really cool at the same time. Maybe it was just our class.
Great Professor. His method of teaching is aimed for you to learn. When taking tests, he makes sure that you have enough time to finish, even if he has to take you to his office or to a different room. Very willing to help.
I got a C, and I still loved the class. I know that I got the grade that I deserved; Calculus is a hard, time intensive class. But Faurot is an awesome teacher who is very willing to work with you, and I think he has a good teaching style. If you're going to take this class though, make sure you have the time to devote to a 5 credit class.
He is a great guy, but I did not understand the way he teaches at all. His tests are difficult. I felt like I knew the homework inside and out, and I would get a D on the tests. I took Cal from Christiansen next. I did no homework, spent 1 hour on the review the day of the test, and I averaged a 98% on the tests.
Faurot was awesome!!! I took Calc in high school and it was so difficult for me and after taking his class everything became crystal clear! He explains things from the core so you aren't just memorizing things but actually understands it and he takes time on every concept and question til everyone in the class gets it. He's nice, clear and patient.
Faurot is awesome! I took him for Calc 1 and 2, he was sooo helpful and really clear. He often would arrive to class and stay after 30 min. everyday just to go over stuff with students. His grading is fair, only thing is his tests are challenging cause they usually only have 3-5 questions that are weighted heavily. but he grades fairly!
Doctor Faurot answers questions clearly in class. He give plenty of examples. He'll answer questions on every homework assignment, give reviews, and give partial credit on tests. His grading is very fair. His interest in the subject is high. He has a PhD in mathematics (as well as his wife). His cheery personality makes it easy to learn from him.
This professor is awesome. He is very clear, doesn't assign too much homework, goes over all the problems in class, and gives a decent test review. No EC offered, and the final is weighted rather heavily at 25%, but I would def take him again if I could. His tests are hard, but fair, and he grades fairly. Overall, excellent.
This professor is AWESOME! He is very nice and answers any questions that a student has in a way that they can understand. I took Calculus in high school, and barely understood it. He made the class fun and is a great teacher. You can tell he likes the subject and is very knowledgeable about it.
Great instructor! I highly recommend that you take any math class that he teaches.
Mr. Faurot was the best math teacher I've ever had. I never felt lost in his class. I feel like he moved at just the right pace, he was never boring and he always takes time to go over anything anyone doesn't understand. I was afraid of Calculus going in but it was my easiest class this semester
One of the greatest classes I've taken ever! Very well presented and tested. Dr Faurot had weekly study sessions that he led outside of class. Very dedicated
AMAZING!!! He is one of my favorite professors. He explains the problems that you go over very well and answers any questions you have. He is very clear about what is due and when it is due. Exams are easy if you come to class and not just get on Yik Yak... and if you do the assigned homework you'll get an A. HIGHLY recommend him!
Take Calculus from him! Calculus is so hard for me, but he made it easier to understand with clear examples. He's always eager to help and gives feedback with answers or tips on homework, quizzes, and tests. That helped me understand why I got the problem wrong. He teaches at the right place, so I never felt lost or behind.
Prof. Faurot is one of the best mathematics professor I've had. he tells you exactly what you should know and will answer any questions you have in class. if you ask a question he'll make sure you understand what to do on that question and on any other questions after. Amazing person, he is really there for the students. if you can take him do it.
Kinda tough. I attended every class, did every assignment and barely made it, and I'm good at math! Gets behind toward the end of the semester (expect an assignment due every day). Knows his stuff but sometimes makes you feel like you missed something. Better than most professors (top 10%) but be sure to dedicate yourself.
Professor Faurot is one of my favorite teachers at UVU. I took both 1210 and 1220 from him, and he was always willing to help. I wouldn't say he's an easy grader, but he's a very reasonable one. You could tell he truly wanted students to understand what he was teaching.
Faurot is the best teacher I've ever had. He made a hard subject easy and attainable. Would recommend him to anyone ever.
Prof. Faurot is very nice and helpful. You have to work hard for your grade unless you are already a math whiz.
I loved Dr. Faurot! My favorite teacher ever. He is very helpful and wants you to succeed. I recommend him!!
Absolutely, the best teacher I've ever had! He knows math really well, and wants you to succeed. He does give out a lot of homework, but he goes through problems students don't get in class. He helps the learning process by showing a new concept, and then going through example problems using it. Super helpful, super funny, and super amazing.
Fault is a great math teacher. He puts GREAT notes on the board for you to copy down. Homework seems to be harder than the tests. Lenient on when homework is due to some degree. I would take him again. If you can be in class and stay off your phone and pay attention then you will be happy with him.
Professor Faurot was one of the best math teachers I have ever had! His lectures and the notes he put on the board were extremely helpful. Tests are questions he goes over on the review days and I always felt well prepared for them. Go to class, pay attention, and do the homework and you'll get a great grade!
Although I hate math, it pays to have a teacher who knows what they're talking about. Professor Faurot really helped me and is super flexible with assigments. If you don't understand a concept he will help you out and his office hours are really nice!!
Professor Faurot is a good teacher, just make sure you know your stuff before a test because they can be pretty brutal!
Pretty good. Was willing to work with me to fulfill my accommodations; for exams he would let me take them in his office so I could have the extra time I needed to finish. You will just need to read the book for time to time. Really knows his stuff.
He is a really good teacher. He knows his subject really well and is good at helping you understand. He teaches clearly and gives clear expectations for his class. There is a lot of HW but he goes over the HW questions that most of the people are struggling with in class before you turn it it.
Wonderful teacher. I've had three classes from him. Loves the subject matter and loves to share the experience of learning it with you
Don has been the best college professor I've ever had. He is super friendly and approachable. He makes the difficult material simple and easy to understand. Super fair grader and just an awesome guy. Would definitely recommend taking him if you can.
He teaches using a lot of mathematical proofs. Doesnt go over many examples in class and saved like 1/2 the material for the last week of class. The last weeks material was literally 40% of the final and because we rushed it Ive had to play catch-up in 1220. Took this class because of reviews Ive read here but Im warining you I dont recommend.
Professor Faurot is a really great professor. His tests are easy if you're in class and do your homework. There is a lot of homework, but it helped solidify every concept and never felt like unnecessary work. He will work with you one-on-one if you are struggling. Math isn't easy, so don't expect it to be easy, but he makes it a whole lot easier.
This professor is amazing. I heard a lot of bad things about calc 2, but I have understood EVERYTHING that has been taught. The homework is due at more random times but I like the amount of homework given. There are no surprises in the tests and quizzes given, he only tests on things learned. His lectures are easily understandable and well taught.
Let me start off with this: I failed this class. BUT I still give professor Faurot 5/5. He cares about student success. I was in a really rough spot when I took this course and wasn't doing the work. He tried his best to work with me and accommodate and help me understand the material. I appreciate him so much; not many profs would do what he did
I took him because of the reviews on here & I regret that so much! He ALWAYS went over time in class, we had it everyday for yet he would always go over! I went to him multiple times over different sections for help & he would only repeat what he said in class with the same examples every. single. time. If you struggle with math avoid him!!!
