he doesn't know how to teach, but very nice guy though!
dorky sense of humor(in a good way), a little confusing at times
really nice man... but hes really hard to follow... its ok if you can teach your
Good teacher, nice guy, decent test fun labs! highly recommended
Awful. 2 months in and no quizzes or tests back. It's a teach it to yourself course. No time for students...always looking to get away (and that's in his office hours!) About as clear as a blizzard in Winnipeg!
He is a nice guy, I like him a lot, and he gives bonus on tests sometimes. well, his teaching needs to be improved/1
He's a fairly good teacher, though a bit unorganized with the lesson. REALLY nice guy and helpful if you have questions. The exams are exactly like the quizes and straight forward if you do the problems.
you will never follow what he is talking in the class....if you want to take him...good luck!
Makes an easy course very difficult because he's not organized! Writes on 3 different boards so you have trouble concentrating, and he goes way tooo fast. The course is a lot of work with him.
make a very easy course very hard, and seems never prepare for the class at all, make so many mistakes in class. midterm is hard as well
Really nice guy and loves Physics, but I have to say that he can't teach it very well. The classes and what he writes on the boards can be very confusing at times.
new to teaching and it shows. very, very scattered, over here over there. Nice guy but unable to meet students where they are coming from; likes to talk about this over here and that over there, but not about what you came to try to understand.
He's a very nice and helpful guy. I found his class was still very difficult
Really nice guy, but horrible teacher. Totally unorganized and tests are at a higher level than the class. He takes being really smart for granted and doesn't realize how hard some of his tests questions are
Very unorganized, midterms/assign/quizzes not handed back on time, had to estimate 60% of my mark before the final. Nice guy but needs more teaching experience. If you take him, make sure you buy the book!!!
Nice teacher!!!however,unorganized.

A truly nice and helpful guy. Fast paced, read text, so questions. Class easier than labs.
funny teacher ,full of humour, but not good at teaching
Don is the worst physics teacher I've had yet. Lectures are poorly prepared, confusing and the in class notes are non existent. Not to mention few office hours and inflexibility. Tests are wrought with errors and poorly thought out. Do not take this guy
He is a nice guy but not a good teacher ! you can never take note in his classes .. so messy & unorganized. Just stay away!
hes a relly nice guy but hes disorganized. not very clear when teaching but hes really good at explaining something one on one. so if you dont understand something, go see him at his office, he takes the time to explain it to you.
extremly disorganized and you don't learn anything!
The worst teacher I've ever had. The guy is so unorganized that he confuses the hell out of you. The midterms are marked and handed back up to a month after they are written, so you will never get a chance to learn from your mistakes before the next test.
very unclear in explaining students' questions, sometimes he don't know how to solve the question. but very helpful, willing to help student in office hour, Don is not good at teaching actually, you need to have good analyzing ability.fair marker.
w00t good teacher
A very nice teacher, however, lectures can sometimes become confusing. Midterms are kinda tough, but he is a fair marker, so it sorta balances out. Great guy to talk about during office hours, if you have any class problems you don't understand.
nice guy, but his note is hard to follow, all over the place. if u have question, ask him after class, very helpful. exams are not hard. read the book before you come to the class.
Don had his first run through with 1125 w/ our class-it showed. He's a great tutor, but horrible teacher. At this point, we have close to quarter of the material left, with under 2 weeks of classes to go. Avoid taking this course with Don. Great one on one help, awful teaching...
Avoid at all cost. Disorganized, unclear, never knows what he's talking about, constantly corrected by his own students. Ask him a question and he'll start explaining something else. His notes consist of examples from the text that are already solved, so theres no point in going to his classes.
Don, if you can read this... try less examples and more theory... And posting the HW on the web. Your final was hard and caused one guy to freak out and run out of the test hall.
He is the worst instructor that I've ever had!! He does'nt know anything about physics!! I wonder how come he is still in his position!! he doesn't know anything about teaching!! also, he is a liar!! if u ask him a question that might be in the test he will say that he is not gonna ask you that kind of question!! and doesn't answer you. he is a har
I have to admit that he knows his stuff. However, he doesn't know how to share it to his students effectively. If your good in Physics then you'll probably find him amazing. He teaches with enthusiasm and you'll like him because he knows alot. However, for those who are not good in Physics, I don't recommend him unless you're hardworking.
He means well I think, he just hasn't developed a balanced and effective lecture program yet. Obviously very smart and has a real joie de vivre, his lectures are weak because he gets carried away when deriving formulas, confusing people. He spends too little time explaining and too much time with basic examples and demonstrations. Easy tests.
He so unclear in what he is saying, he makes lots of mistakes during lectures & makes students more confused.. his tests are way too hard comparing "lectures" , you'd better study yourself instead of listeing to what he "teaches!"

I think that DOn is a really nice and knowledgable guy, but he just can't teach it properly to students. He write very messy notes, talks really fast, and sometimes teach stuff that the student don't need to know. However, he will sit with u until u understand if you ask, relatively easier test and stuff. His test is easier than those of Karen.
Don is a nice person... but when it comes to the classroom, I really can't understand half the things he is talking about. I get so much more information from using the text book on my own. I find that he goes too fast on the parts we need and to slow on other parts. He gives a lot of theory and less actual analytic questions. I hated the "guess" things he did in class. I would like it if he did more problems in class and solved the full problem step by step using mathematics instead of draining us with theory. Don Hunter EXCELS outside class time. He gives so much out of class help, any place, anytime. (basically) If your lost, go to his office, or even find him in the hall, cafe, physics lab... If you ask him a question he will drop everything he is doing to help you. I wish that every professor could be like that.
Aww don. A for effort. Will do anything for his students, including staying late in the evening for one-on-ones and such. Lectures are a mess though, he simply lacks the gift of explaining well. Read the text if you want to do well. Spends all his time with simple concepts, never does examples in class. Very nice though.
I love this guy. Giving extra assignmentsss to improve your grade. He's also very helpful. giving you clues even in the middle of the exam. I found his final exam is easier than midterms
Don is SUCH a nice man, very genuine and passionate about physics. He may be too intelligent for his own good though because he has a hard time listening closely to questions- usually answers something else. Simple 'yes or no' clarifications are unattainable. His written hand-out notes are totally scattered and messy.
Nice guy, very poor instructor. Spends majority of class time going over simple concepts and not covering relevant problem solving approaches and methods. He is frustratingly disorganized with class notes. Goes off on tangents that are no help to the material at hand. Obviously is very smart but cannot pass on material well.
SUPER nice teacher, very helpful. He explain things very clear. If you don't understand, he will try different ways to get you understand. Plus, he is very funny. you won't get bored in his class. He is like a genius. His notes are very organized and clear stated the principle. you won't even need to read textbook.! Highly recommend him!
Very helpful and nice professor and teacher. He knows what he's teaching. Can be boring sometimes since he is too smart to teach the class. I will take his class again in the next level of Physics. Have a lot of patience to his students and answers all questions.
Very Nice Teacher. I got 50% on physics 11 and never took physics again till this summer. I had Don as Teacher and got A-. He is very clear, will help you out during his office hour, and he's kinda funny too. If you are weak on physics and want to get better at it, you should take Don's class as your next.
it's very funny in his classes, u would find that phys is very relative to our lives...he gives us groups to discuss problems in the class which is very helpful that can fix all ur problems...i like his notes very much...also his midterms r easy...he will be in the lab with u to help the students...he is very nice...
He's awesome!! I've never learned PHYS before, but I think I can get A something. His note is a little bit messy, but the midterms and quizes come from his notes. And he's very helpful and nice to all of students.
odd, incomprehensible and a complete mess! The entire class was confused on everything he lectured about not interested in helping students more worried about getting thru the topics for the end of term! WORST PHYSICS PROF NEVER TAKE!!
Incredibly nice person. He will go to the wall to help you learn physics. However, his explanations of questions are usually incomprehensible. In addition, he has WAY too many assignments - I think we are on pace for 5 tests, 4 quizzes, and 8 assignments, plus about 8 labs. So about 25 assignments to hand in in 13 weeks.
HE IS THE BEST!!!Such a sweet & nice instructor!!! His printed class notes are really messy-writtened, BUT is really off-the-wall straight to the point! I didn't have to use the textbook! Be aware of the loads of assignments, MTs, & quizzes though! Overall, I got an A in his class!
Awesome Prof, down to earth guy and makes physics alot of fun. Don was one of my favourite profs. Absolutely take his class!!!! (also he scales in students favor which is nice)
He's a very nice person, and knows how to teach...but sometimes, he's a bit disorganized and may make mistakes. He might go too fast, but will ALWAYS help you whenever you need it! There are alot of assignments though. Just study and you can get a B easily. He loves his students! He's funny and his lectures are engaging. His notes might be messy.
Great professor. Extremely helpful and dedicated, if a bit goofy. Can get lost in the lectures sometimes but if you don't understand something, just ask and he will take the time to explain it in detail. Overall, great man and a great way to start my first semester at Langara :)
Don is da MAN! Energetic guy who keeps you interested, genuine, funny, and spot on. Works you hard, lots of exams, homework, quizzes but those are points in the bank!!
As long as if you go to class and study the practice problems he assigns over and over again you can achieve an A for sure. He is very helpful during office hours as well!
Don is good! Engaging and fun! took Physics 12 before and wasnt as much fun. Exams are based on examples which are done in class. He is just awesome
He is very nice and friendly. No one has difficulty to get along with him. He sometimes goes off-topic but explains concepts well. You don't have to buy the textbook for this course. His notes are good and you'll need the textbook only when you work on assignments. So, borrow it from the library.
Very good teacher
Don is a great guy, his notes are messy and sometimes unclear but he is helpful when you ask him questions one on one. He gives you lots of chances to improve on your mistakes.
Overall, he is a very approachable and helpful instructor. The only tiny problem he has is whenever he starts to talk about a HW or exam problem, he starts it quick without reading over what the question asking. He is very helpful with students both in and outside the class. 1225 needs lots of understanding among concepts and he explains them well
He is probably the nicest professor I've ever met, but his lectures are probably also the most incoherent. Study the questions from his notes.
awesome prof
Don is very friendly & approachable instructor who wants his students to do well. Although his notes are sometime hard to follow, but as long as you ask, he is willing to clarify any confusion. His quizzes are very helpful to make sure you are on track. If you do bad on a quiz, he gives you a chance to improve your mark. Highly recommend taking him
Good Prof. Review in class problems and printed notes as well as relevant homework sets and you'll be fine. I personally found the homework to be more difficult than the midterms, and the final is relatively easy. Don is also very approachable, passionate, and knowledgeable about physics and seems to genuinely enjoy helping students.
Just choose him. Few quizes. Don't worry you blow your test. He'll make bonus questions after you get your test mark and you can use the mark of bonus questions to replace one of the questions with the lowest mark on the test. Really friendly. Buy him some whiteboard pens at the end of semester BTW he's always looking for pens hahahaha
Don is one of the nicest profs that I've ever had, and he is definitely a little goofy! The homework is honestly harder than his tests, and if you did well in Physics 12, then the lecture portion of this class will be a breeze. Overall he's a great guy and will answer any questions if you have problems understanding concepts, etc.
Don is very loyal and tries to answer your questions. His homework is sometimes harder than tests but he helps you about it if you have problems. Prints out for you (which is awesome). Gives out materials for preparation for tests and quizzes. His jokes are hilarious.
Dr. Hunter was very nice and approachable. Be sure to ask him if you ever need help. Don't worry if the homework seems too difficult - the tests are moderately easier and are more based on the lecture notes. Tests and final exam were fair. The textbook was available online for free which was nice. Thanks for a great course Don!
His handwriting is beyond my understanding. He gave lots of practice problems so you can be prepared for the exam, which is really helpful.
Maybe the nicest professor I've ever had. Seems to really love what he does. He's quite entertaining, and is often joking with people. Maybe a bit too off topic at times. Overall the class was really easy, homework was tricky at times, but tests were easier and the final was very easy. Recommended.
Amazing. Don is my favourite professor by far. I've taken PHYS1118 in his class two summers ago and he still has the easily approachable, friendly personality. He will go out of his comfort zone in order to help students succeed. Also, Don is very passionate in the subject he's teaching. Overall, great professor with great personality.I'll miss him
if want to take physics just choose this professor.
Don is a really cool prof. He is very funny in class and very approachable. He really cares about his students. His exams not too hard as long as you show up to class, as he bases his exams off in class notes. He is also a very fair marker. Would definitely take him again.
Don is genuinely a great guy. He's super nice and pretty funny at times, but as a prof, he's just not good. I know a lot of people may disagree with me, but I just find his notes incredibly messy and confusing. He gets lost in his own work and often messes up in-class exercises. Physics is straightforward, but Don makes it seem anything but that.
He is a nice guy and give good feed back but, I would not recommend anyone who is average or below at physics to take this guy if they care about their grade. the class average for midterms to decently high, but that's because he gives 5 student near 100%, while rest get terrible marks.
Don is the best professor I've had at Langara. I went from getting a 48% in Physics 12 (course equivalent to PHYS 1118) in high school to getting an A in this course. He explains concepts in a clear manner and is willing to explain things in detail after class. If you're struggling with physics, take his class.
His lecture notes are not useful but textbook questions help a lot. If you can understand all the practice he gave you, you can probably get an A or A+. Quizzes are extremely easy.
One of the best physics professor in Langara . He is caring and gives good feedback too . If you have any difficulty with the home work , he will help you out .
Notes may be confusing at times but Don is very willing to give explanations. Quizzes are based on the example quizzes that he gives out. Exams are based on his notes. Be sure to review and do questions from his notes and homework. He forgets things and may make mistakes on solutions and etc but if you remind him, he'll quickly change them.
Don believes in intuitive understanding of physics, and he tailors his lectures, notes, and exams as such. I found his method to be extremely valuable. However, there were a number of classmates who preferred the plug n' chug question-solving approach. If you prefer a spatial/visual approach to physics, Don is your guy.
A very sweet guy, but if you don't have good basics it might be tough to get a good grade. His lectures seemed to be really vague and all over the place. He provides a textbook tho, so you can just read over the material if you are lost.
Donny was an amazing professor. Always made time for students and his teaching method really helps you develop and understanding of the material. Legitimately cares about his students, and is also an awesome person to discuss science with. His midterms are tough but not unfair. The final was a breeze after his instructions.
I took his PHYS1118 course. I did well and got an A in his class. I'm currently taking a first year Physics course at UofT and Don has really prepared me. I definitely recommend him or any physics professor. Do the homework, practice and you will get your well deserved A. Or even better take first year physics at Langara!
