He gives good presentations to help understand the computer stuff. Then you'll work in groups in class and complete take home tests. He's not easy, but show up, turn everything in on time and you'll earn an "A" like I did! Excellent Teacher!

Good class. 3 take home tests from the book. Weekly lab with partner. Paper on technology and PowerPoint at end of term- chance for good grades. Recommended class. He is fun and fair.

Mr. Lafond was a great teacher. You get weekly assignments that are very easy. He gives 4 take home test and 1 paper and a power point presentation. Not a lot of work and he knows what he is talking about!!

Professor Lafond presented informantion clearly and easy to understand for somebody without much computer background. He is very helpful with any questions asked and would go the extra mile to help his students succeed. Tests are challenging but but not impossible. Writing assignments are informative.

Professor Don Lafond was great! I took his CGS 1060 class during the Summer "A" session at SJRCC. I really enjoyed it and learned allot. The course load was high, yet he ensured we learned the material without overloading us or lowering the expectations of the course objectives. A straightforward easy going professional.

I absolutely love taking classes with Professor Lafond. His classes are incredibly informative and he is very easy to talk to. There is a lot to learn with Access and his lesson plans made very easy to accomplish a lot in a short semester. However, there was not a time( I have had 4 of his classes) that I left his classroom confused. If you select him as a professor, you will not be disappointed.

I took Don Lafond for 2 online courses. I received A's in both. The workload can, on occasion, be heavy, but it seems appropriate for the subject matter. I learned a lot by keeping up, particularly in his CGS 1100 course. Don is very friendly (though I've never met him) and willing to accommodate. I'd suggest his course to anyone interested.

Professor Lafond is a great teacher both online and in the classroom. This was the first time being a student of his online class, and I would say that between his in class and online classes, he is very much the same; A very thorough, creative teacher, that cares about our learning. I highly recommend his classes if you can get them. He rocks!

This was an online class utilizing Access 2010. Some have posted LaFond is an easy A. I wouldn't say that. What is true is he makes it clear in his rubric how you will be graded, so you can get an A if you do all the work. You will know Access at the end of his course. Very accessible, works with you if you need flexibility. I would take him again.

Reasonably easy class. Assignments are simple to follow and organized. You can work ahead and complete the class at any time leaving more study time for others during finals. I completed the entire second half in one 6 hour day. The first half probably would have taken three 6 hours day. Top required typing speed is around 40 WPM.

I have had Professor LaFond in several classes. He's always there to help if you need it and is more than fair. The only way to fail his classes is if you don't do any of the work.

I couldn't have asked for a better keyboarding teacher than Professor Lafond! He was very fair, professional, kind, down to earth, and understanding that people have lives outside of school. He also structured the course fabulously. He always leaves encouraging comments when grading even if your work was late or your typing speeds weren't the best.

I followed the Syllabus. I was able to take next weeks typing assignment once I finished my current week. I learned a lot from the class discussions about typing. Professor LaFond was reasonable about assignments and I was able to call him, if I had any questions concerning assignments. He was always very helpful.

One discussion every week, one quiz every week (very easy, not timed, retake 3 times if needed), a total of four case studies, and a Business Plan assignment at the end. Stick to APAMLA formatting and submit your work on time. :)

Intense Online Summer Courses (7 weeks). If you follow the instructions for assignments and discussions, you will pass. Professor Lafond has a passion for teaching, no hesitation to help students (Blackboard), great assignment communication (assignment instructions and due dates posted weekly), and a great consideration for students grades.

This is my 2nd course with Professor Lafond. It was an online summer course, so it was extremely fast-paced. Very imperative that you keep current with the assignments. However, it you do the work, you can easily pass. Prof. Don was always available to answer any questions and is a great motivator both in person & online. Highly recommended!

Best online class i have ever taken. I took Don for a 6week summer course. We did the whole book for Mircocomputer APP. Lanfond is the must involved instructor I have ever seen for an online class. Emails, grades, and helps every student so fast. Please don't be afraid of the hard workonline class, Don is there to help every step of the way.

Mr. Lafond has a great personality and is very helpful. I go to class and take notes and all the assignments are out of the textbook and I do them at home. He makes himself available for anyone that needs help and there is even a discussion board on his page for everyone to communicate and ask questions.

Fairly simple and clear assignments. I had very little problem with him at all during the entire summer semester. Seems very nice and I could tell he'd be willing to help. I had a fairly easy time with this class considering I've been exposed to all of the topics beforehand, but none of the assignments seemed that hard to be honest.

Loved this class with Prof. Don. He is engaging in class and is available to help whenever students need it. I was somewhat familiar with the Microsoft products, but learned a great deal. There is quite a bit of work, but it is easy work and an easy A if you turn in your assignments in full and on time.

Professor Lanfond's class was on of the easiest I have taken to date. He is always willing to explain things if they are not clear or show you how to fix an issue that might arise. His final for this class is a power point presentation and it is actually enjoyable but at the same time allows him to see what we learned from the units.

The class was enjoyable. It is a lot of work at home but aslong as you stick with it and keep up, you should be fine. He even allows for late work but with a penalty. He's pretty easygoing and understanding to different situations.

Very descriptive with requirements for each unit. You will have to put your time in to make sure you complete the work. Just check everything off as you do it and you should have no trouble passing this class. I enjoyed learning office and had fun doing the projects. I am better prepared for using this software after taking this course.

He is a great teacher very understanding if you mess up on part of project and allows you to resubmit with no penalty. Give yourself at least 2 days to do a whole section. If you are a Mac user like I am USE A DIFFERENT COMPUTER (for this class only). The Mac version of Office lacks most of the things the book refers to and makes it very difficult.

Mr. Lafond is everything a teacher should be. Never have I dreaded to have to go to class. He's relatable, has a great sense of humor, and is very understanding. Best teacher I've had at SJRState.

Overall the class is fairly straightforward. All tests online, 4 projects, and LOTS of homework. Your final project is a PowerPoint on a website which is first come first serve. If you attend ALL of the classes you receive an additional 4 points on your final grade. He will typically reserve 30 minutes of class time to work on assignments.

Professor Lafond was a great professor. He was funny and took the time to make sure you had a clear idea of the assignments with his lectures. The homework load wasn't too bad, and he accepts late work if you do happen to fall behind.

Took it during the summer - it's a faster pace, but personally I'm glad I focused on this class during Summer A and could put the time in. Some people did the class using the two weeks free access, but speaking personally it's worth the book purchase and online access code. I tried to pace myself through the six weeks and it was still heavy.

Summer semester is more fast paced, so if you do take this class in the summer just be prepared for more work in a shorter time frame. Organize your time correctly because there are a lot of modules. But, there is enough time to complete all necessary work.

Not only is the professor great, but the course content is actually applicable to the business world. The content can be used day 1 of your career. This is not a simple Excel class, although some of the work may be. There are some advanced aspects to this course. The professor knows the material well, and the text gives great detail to course work.

Fantastic professor. He's very clear about what he wants. Follow instructions, do the work... you're guaranteed an A. Good sense of humor. Answers questions lightning fast. Engaging and positive attitude. This man is ORGANIZED!! Comes across as an actual human being. Seriously, he should be teaching other profs how to prof like a boss.

If you are already computer savvy and don't care to have the teacher showing you everything, take this online. Almost all of the credit received in the class is done from online work. Mr. Lafond was an excellent teacher! I took CGS1100 online and it was a breeze. He only requires you to get 90% on the MindTap course side to get 100% in Canvas. If you miss anything, he makes sure to leave you comments to let you know what you missed. You do have to participate in discussions with fellow students for a grade, but its easy.

Professor Don was an excellent professor. He really cared about you learning the material and passing the class. His charisma made you want to come to class. I did take the condensed semester, but as long as you do the work, you will pass. He made several examples of how what he was teaching would benefit in the real world. Also, go to class.

Great and responsive professor. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and is willing to be there to help. Definitely would take one of his classes again.

Professor LaFond is a wonderful instructor and I am very thankful he was my Microsoft teacher. I came in with what I would say a 3.5 out of 5 knowledge, and he taught me new tips and tricks. With Covid, he set up videos that are interesting and worth watching. I would absolute sign up for another class!

I took Professor Lafonds class over the fall semester and it was a very pleasant experience. He has lots of office hours and encourages participation. The course material is also very simple and the online textbook and assignments are easy to complete. If you are taking CGS 1100 I would definitely choose Don Lafond.

Professor Lafond was great. The class was very easy, but you do actually learn a lot. He is a very lenient grader and only takes off 10% on late work per week. The class is mostly textbook work with an assignment or test once every other week or so. This class is an easy A. I will definitely be taking another class with him next semester.

Professor Lafond was great. The class was not a lot of work, textbook work every week that is pretty straight forward and a quiz or mini project that was due maybe every other week. He was a very lenient grader. My favorite thing about the class was that he made assignments due on Monday 10AM instead of Sunday night 12AM. Very knowledgeable.

Although I didn't interact much with Professor Lafond since I was taking an online class when I did it was very pleasant. I enjoyed being in his class and would do it if I had the chance again! I highly recommend taking a class with him as the professor. He is down-to-earth, and grades fast as well as responds fast.

Professor Lafond helped me so much this semester. I got added late to the class and he made sure I understood the material and allowed me to have extra time to turn the work in. He was readily available every morning Monday through Friday on zoom in order to ensure the students were well adjusted to the course. Overall, hes a great professor!

Super nice professor who went out of his way to keep in contact with the class (even when it was online). This is easily the best computer science teacher Ive had. Will help you with whatever questions you have throughout.

Most of the class is done through MyLab, but Professor Lafond was always available through zoom, email, or discussion chats. Since it was an online class, I didn't interact with him to much; however, when I did the professor was super helpful and friendly.
