(Looks just like Tom Hanks.) Professor Love is so knowledgable. He's hilarious too, which makes him fun to learn from. Very accessable outside of class. A+
Great class, but a bit hard... prof tom hanks....er...i mean love, did a great job of teaching us about new testament. he knows his stuff. he's hilarious. loves homstarrunner and vintage 21 videos. but beware of his midterm. ouch. overall, good class
A very intellegent and hilarious man. One of only 2 C's I've made, yet I feel I probably learned more than I would have in many other New Testament classes. Plays UHF in class, while dressed up as an old-fashioned movie staff person.
Awesome teacher...and sounds like Tom Hanks. Really enjoyed his class and learned a lot from him. Requires a lot of homework and memorization, but still a great and easy class!
Tom Hanks' dopple ganger. There are no words to describe the awesomeness of this man.
way too easy.. but DR. Love is pretty stinkin cool
Nice guy, but extremely politically incorrect. Goes too far, to the point of being arrogant and thinking he can say whatever he wants because people think he's funny. Offensive when he is too flippant with the serious nature of the Bible. Some jokes just aren't appropriate.
i enjoy the class alot
He's good
Pretty good
This is an awesome class and I am learning so much from it. Its has inspired me to continue learning the NT even after the class is over
Prof. Love is FREAKIN AWESOME!!! He is such a fun teacher, he really knows how to make New Testament Survey fun!! :-)
One of the best teachers I've had. He makes you work for your grade but makes it fun and interesting. Learned a lot in this class while still having fun. Not many teachers can do that.
Easily the best professor at LU. On his way to becoming one of the greats. His name comes up in every who's-your-favorite-professor conversation. LU would be wise to hire many more like him. I loved that he had us actually read the entire NT instead of a text book about the NT! Novel idea!
The Best teacher at LU...He is awesome....I love that you read through the NT instead of some other book. Def. take him...its great..
awesome... his wife is nice too... i learned soooo stinkin much in his class.... i like how he cares enough about the students to open up his house to them from time to time...
Awesome man with awesome insight. He helped me understand so much about the NT! He keeps you interested and is clear and who doesn't get a kick out of those bow ties?!
The most clear teaching I have ever had on the new testament. I have to say the man's powerpoints are amazing! He makes the NT so real. He is also very hospitable in opening up his home too!

I am a huge slacker, but I thouroughly enjoyed this class! It wasn't an easy breezy course, but Dr. Love made it fun and interesting! I would highly recommend him!
This is the most vivacious teacher that ever lived. He made the mew testament more fun than a day at 6 flags with no lines!
Dr. Love is awesome. He made something that most people htink is boring one of the most exciting classes ever.
At least he's excited about what he does and he makes it easy for other people to be excited too. Thanks for that, I think that all students should have to take this course just to get the dose of reality...what it means to be a Christian, and still be excited about it.
a but load of work, good teacher, but if you hate work than just take towns
No Comments
Love gives a LOAD of work. BUT you learn so much from N.T. its like..whoa! He tells you exactly whats going to be on the quizzes and tests so that part is easy- just study and put in your time and everything will be A-OK
I love Love!!
This was one of my favorite classes ever! He is so funny and makes it all interesting. If you need to take New Testament, take it with Love. He is one of the best teachers at LU.
BEST TEACHER AT LU
Greatest teacher st LU! You will learn SO much!
Prof. Love is an awesome teacher, but there is A LOT of work involved with his classes. I know that the work is meant to get us to dig deeper into the NT, but sometimes it feels like busy work that I "have" to do, not a Bible study that I "want" to do.
Love is a great teacher. He knows how to connect with our generation and articulate theological principles without boring us. His classes are hilarious. He is always joking around and keeping it interesting. By the way, expect to work some in his class. You will read the whole NT and write explanations about each chapter weekly.
Very funny but you do not learn...Crap, I waste my time....take towns....
He's GREAT and VERY helpful! Take him, you'll learn a lot.... God Bless you!
He's pretty much the best... by far... he answers any question you have the only reason i put three on easiness is because yeah, theres alot of work, but its stuff you'll use for the rest of your life! if you go into it with the right attitude, you'll get alot out of it. This is the best class I've taken at LU!!!
A word of advice: NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE MORNING!! I slept in once and was screwed as far as work and notes went. But the prof is a good man.
very confusing class. especially his type of humor. you almost feel you can relate to him then he almost breaks out some kind of weird attempt for humor...he is bareable tho...
This guy is awesome! He makes you work hard but you learn and ton and usually laugh while doing it! I was not excited about taking this class but I really love it! Do the homework on time, also if you are a bad memorizer don't take this class! Over all I think this guy is funny and I loved going to class!
This class was awesome, Love was probably the most cheerful and excited teacher I have ever had, all the while keeping the class interesting. He knows the information and was able to keep me enthralled the entire time I couldn't help but love this class. Just a nice guy, and he's really a good entertainer and instructor too.
He's an awesome professor. I enjoyed this class and his sense of humor! There is never a dull moment in his class!! There is a lot of work, but it's not that difficult. Mid-term and final are extremely easy if you study everything he tells you to!
He seems like a good guy, but his teaching was to biased. He went to Word of Life, so I would expect that. I guess I should expect that at this school too though. Decent class, though if I could have escaped it I would have. Good professor though. He looks a bit like Tom Hanks, hah.
Love is the best. He is totally amazing and he really knows how to communicate the Bible clearly to his students in an interesting way. Great Prof!!
Professor Love is aight. He cracks jokes all the time which are cool and his assignments are pretty clear on everything. When we have to read the Bible, that is pretty clear and easy, but when we have to read the book for his class, it can get dull. I would recommend him.
This guy is freakishly hard. The book is just wierd and hardly helpful. If you can pass this class you will have probably memorized the whole bible. He is a good guy and really tries to keep class exciting but yeah this is no piece of cake bible class.
Prof Love is one of the coolest teachers at LU. Do not take this class if you are looking for an easy A. There is a pretty good deal of reading and you will have to read through the NT by the end of the semester. He keeps class interesting and he does a lot of class discussion and unlike other professors he lets you speak your ideas not just his
Dr. Love is great. His powerpoints are amazing, and he is just a hilarious teacher. The homework is not hard, it's just time consuming.
Love is a great prof. Nothing beats the time he fell and slid into the wall...or the time he cut off the teddy bear's head...
Do yourself a favor and don't take this guy, he is a horrible teacher and makes up dumb stuff to talk about and memorize for homework, very unclear and TONS of just busy work. That class was a waste of life.
Dr. Love is a good professor. The work is easy, but can be time consuming sometimes. I learned a lot in the class. I would definately recommend for NT Survey.
Don't take this guy unless you would like an F for your grade. The guy brainwashes you into believing that he is god. The only reason he has good comments is because he sits on here all day making up good stuff about himself.
Love is very entertaining. He has pretty funny powerpoint presentations that are engaging. He also does his best to help students retain the material by going over it as much as needed and coming up with catchy phrases to aide the memorization of facts. The class is challenging, especially the midterm which is basically a verse memorization test.

His assignments are hard, but hes really entertaining during class time.
Ok, These people do not know what they are talking about. The only reason why they diss Love is because he probably caught them cheating and they failed the course. Yes, this course is challenging, but HELLO this is college. Duh you're gonna have to study. The great thing is, you learn while you are doing it. Wake up people and read your Bible!!
Dr Love is amazing. He has a strict homework policy, but his tests are really easy if you study. The map assignment at the end is really to bring up borderline grades (i think) so it is really not hard to get a good grade. People who do not do well in this class need to reconsider their effort and not blame one of the best teachers at Liberty.
Dr. Love is absolutely amazing as a teacher. I learned a lot, a lot outside of class and it was probably one of the most fun classes I've ever taken. It was a lot of work for new testament, but no where near the work of math or science courses so not really a big deal to me, it was an easier one of my load. Just a great class highly recommend!
He assigns a lot of work which is not the bad part. He is very arrogant. He honestly acts like he is God. He has you memorize things the way HE thinks they went. He is very very predjudice and the book is not helpful at all. It is more confusing than anything! Be prepared to use your OWN judgement and common sense and stay on guard!

At first I did not enjoy Love's class, and thought the amount of hw was a bit overboard. But, I ended up learning so much in this class, and got to read thru the whole NT! Love uses many different teaching methods, and the discussions are very interesting. Definitely keep your guard up--great teacher, but my beliefs varied slightly from his.
He makes the class interesting, he uses a lot of visual and gives you ample opportunity for class discussion and questions. His class is very difficult compared to the majority of the New Test classes, hes a great Prof, but if you dont have the desire to put in work, dont Take the class because you'll hate it.
Terrible, stay away.
Overall I thought this coarse was reletively easy. However, if you don't like reading the bible don't take the class - you'll end up reading the whole New Testament, but thats most of the h/w you'll have. Theres another book you'll have to read that doesn't make sense, but he always tells you when quizs are and gives you study guides. Good class.
He is a great professor. He makes class interesting with costumes, etc. Read the book-high school level- and you will do well on the quizzes. Assignments due once a week on Bible reading. Midterm you have to study for, but he gives you everything that is on there. Pure memorization.
just do the work and you will be fine! he is a funny guy and he is down to earth. he has good days and bad but only shows when he is having a good day! take him!
ONE WORD.....MEMORIZE!!!!....thats basily the whole class...if u suck at that then your screwed.....if ur great at it.....u will get an A like me or b if u don't come because he gives surprise atendance quizes....exspecially if alot of people begin to walk out...he will just give one whn they leave hahah which i think is funny!
I think he is pretty hilarious. If I was going to be a prof I would want to be like him. He has two tests, both are all about memorization... but they are not too bad. He gives you a lot of time to prepare for them. There is a lot of busy work throughout the semester but it's not too hard and I learned a lot because of it. Good prof. Take him.
Godly man. Likes to discuss things, never really gives a straight answer to theological questions. Read the book, and know the chart. If you know the chart, you're good. This was probably my favorite class for the semester.
If you close your eyes, he sounds like Tom Hanks. If you look at him, he looks like Dan Akroyd. Weird.
hes actually really funny, at first i thought he was going to be really boring and I was going to hate him... but he makes class interesting, he does hysterical things .. like inviting everyone to his house random weekends?? there is a lot of work but its really not that bad..
He's a nice guy, but a ton of quizzes and really long homework assignments. Definitely not a class to take by yourself. Don't even bother buying the books, mine still all have the plastic on them.
Best Teacher. Extremely Clear, and he is sooo funny. Dry humor, but hilarious. He made it so interesting, and by far my favorite class to take this semester. Work load is heavy, but you are well aware of when things are due, and have a lot of time to complete it. I took the hybrid class and it was perfect!
Nice, funny teacher but his class wasn't useful if you aren't a religion major. Huge work load but fair.
I'm not gonna lie. Professor Love's work load for new testament survey is a lot but he gives you SO much time to complete them. I am a B/C student but I really studied for this class and got a 97%. You can't slack in this class. Stay on your toes. But my word I learned so much in this class. It was amazing.
Love is a great Prof. He is kind of odd until you get to know his persona and realize he just has a great dry sense of humor. Class was really easy if u studied. I got a 95 and a 90 on tests. Lets you read through the whole new testament and has classwide open discussion for questions and thoughts. Memorize study guide!!
He is the biggest rambler I have ever had
He is a horrible Prof. He is boring, He teaches for about 40% of the class and then makes us ask him questions or he just makes us sit there. He is not clear, his points are weak at best (when there even understood) and he is above all arrogent and annoying
He left all the teaching to the once-a-week online powerpoints, and spent the other 2 classes in the week answering random bible questions instead of giving us a coherent, in class lesson. He basically had no lesson plan for actual class peoriods, to the point that if there weren't any questions at all, he'd tell stories about his days as a student.
he is a very good prof. he teaches in great detail and his class has gotten easier than it used to be (used to be all essay), now its almost all multiple choice with very few fill in the blank.
Professor Love is one of the best profs I've had in a long time. His powerpoints and lecture is extremely coherent and easy to take notes. The work is not oppressive, but useful, and I get the feeling that he really does care for the students, inviting them to his class, giving wisdom, and always available to answer questions.
Easy class. Class is very boring and Professor Love does not help it get any better. The way we have question and answer time, it seems as if he is showing off with his all knowing knowledge. He is very rude, often times praying for his students before tests that they have the "capacity" to remember the items over class. Bad professor, stay away.
This teacher is awesome. Its a complete must to come to every class, he goes over new material everyday. Study the quizes and the tests will come easy to you. He definitly knows his stuff. Be ready to take lots of notes. He is moderate at grading verses. So when you read and make questions make the questions of interest.
I had heard so much about Dr. Love being rediculously hard, but after taking him for a semester, I realize by "hard" they meant "challenging". If you want to come out of the class with a solic knowledge of the New Testament, then Dr. Love is the guy to take for SURE.
?No child let behind? LOL, He believes in leaving the Children behind, and he will leave you behind on lectures. Incredibility fast talker and fly?s through power points. A laptop and the ability to type 50 words a minute is a must. If you have never been around the New Testament or religion his arrogance will make you feel incredibility stupi
Although I felt like in some ways it was more of a low-level backgrounds class than a survey class, I learned a lot about the NT from Love. His tests require some studying for, but throughout the class, he does a lot to make the material interesting and memorable. If you want it easy, take Towns, if you want to learn, take Love.
This man is amazing. He really knows what he is talking about. He does throught stuff fast at times but tends to put them up on black board. It is a lot of work but if you do it you cann easily get an A. He gives study guides to the test's that pretty much is th etest it self. Do the work and you'll do fine.
This guy is great. I thought he was hilarious and he had a couple of days where you didn't do a thing. He knows what he is doing, and the Homework wasn't that hard, you just have to do it. All in all, one of my favorite professors.
He wasn't bad. Just boring.
I loved Dr. Love's teaching style and I learned so much about the New Testament! Homework was easy and so far the tests have been good.
not bad.. knows his stuff. just really boring. dont bother emailing his GA for help, cause he'll just reply with a rude email telling you to check the syllabus. on a scale of 1 to 10 id say 5. try to take someone else if you can.
I thought he was very arrogant! I like how he uses the chart to help you memorize the semi-chronological order of the new testament.
I enjoy this class. Sometimes I feel a bit flustered because he tends to move pretty stinkin' fast. But all in all I would have to that I enjoyed the class. You learn a whole lot because he isn't going to make it an easy class for you. It's a great class to take if you really do want to learn about the Bible. I enjoyed his humor too.
Dr. Love is brilliant.
Dr. Love is an amazing yet challenging teacher. He's not easy, but life isn't either. If you want to get through life by taking the easy way out, you'll miss out, not just on fun but on stuff you really need to know. With that out of the way, he did tend to go quickly at times, and not everybody got his sense of humor, but he KNOWS his stuff.
I had love for NT survey. If you want to learn (which you should), take Dr. Love. Not only is he smart, but he is really funny. People who don't like him are the ones who don't understand his humor, and/or are bad students. Do the work and you will do fine. He's not that hard.
Dr. Love is not hard you just have a lot of work to keep up with but you will learn a lot. He also is very helpful if you need it and he tries to get involved with the students. Which is nice because a lot of professors don't try. As long as you keep up with notes and attend you will be fine.
Very interesting class if you want to learn. Go to class and take good notes and the tests are extremely easy. He also shows movies as well. The homework is very easy too, I got 100s on everyone but one. Recommended!
NT was a great class! Loves lectures were really interesting and i learned so many things i never knew about the Bible. Theres a pretty solid amount of work, but it is fair and adds to the class. (You have to basically read the NT and do chapter summaries, questions, etc.) Its not a EASY A, but its a fair A. I would recommend this class to everyone
This was my favorite class of my whole semester. As for the people using the word "prick," it's kinda funny that you're describing a Bible teacher with that word and you go to a Christian school. I thought he was a little arrogant at first, but he is just really knowledgeable. He is really a great person, and a nice man. You learn a lot in this clas
For those who are smart and came to liberty because its a decent school and they offered you a lot of scholarships, you will really enjoy this class. For those of you who are stupid and came to liberty because they accepted you extremely low SAT score, and you parents are rich, you will do very bad in this class and write bad reviews.
The person who said he is a prick is rude, but... This is one of the worst profs I've had. This class is a huge waste of time. Got an A, didn't learn a thing. I would strongly advise taking someone else. Not interested in teaching or helping students. Just wants a soapbox to ramble from.
Well, he thinks he's funny. He's not. He thinks he super smart. I guess he is, because I couldn't understand him/didn't want to pay attention half the time. His class isn't HARD, if you just do the work and know the chart but... it's oh-so boring.
Professor Love is AMAZING! New Testament was my favorite class this semester! He is so wise and if you pay attention in class, you learn so much. Those of you who say that he is annoying and useless, it's probably because you didn't even pay attention. New Testament was amazing, and even though it's harder than other professors, you learn a ton!
Dr. Love is so awesome! I came into the class thinking i had heard it all, but i was way wrong and i really learned a lot about him. My girl friend is now taking him and she wants to take every class with him if possible! haha He can be dry sometimes, but it is always awesome material. Just pay attention and take good notes!
Prof. Love is alright. Sometimes he can be funny and sometimes he can be a little boring. It depends how you want to look at it. He does have a lot of writing assignments. And beware, he only has ONE test that is Multiple Choice. The rest are written and the Semi-Final is harder than the final. Study up!
funny guy. too much work for a required bible class.
Very nice and helpful for this distance ed student. Thanks
If you want to get into God's word, take this class! You will read through the entire new testament by semester's end and write summaries for the chapters. I suggest him for Christians struggling to find a quiet time. You learn a lot about the NT and its chronological order. Make sure you learn the chart early. Review for the 3rd test rocks!
it was terrible way to much work
Writing summaries about the different books in the New Testament is hard? Since when? This professor was great, and loved to get the class involved, you usually dont see that inside of a class of 350 people
Don Love is an excellent professor, but he is very hard to follow sometimes. easy class, but ALOT of class work. too much class work in fact. and when he says dumb stuff in class... just laugh along with him.
Dr. Love is wonderful!! Sure, there's kind of a lot of work for a 100 level class, but it's SO worth it. I learned so much in his class, and had a great time. He's a very smart man, and he teaches the class well. Lots of fun too!
very intelligent and knowlegeable about class
He is one of the most fun teachers I've had. He has an amazingly dry sense of humor. I thought his class was pretty simple, just keep up with your notes. He pretty much spells out for you what is going to be on his quizzes and tests. He does like to trick you a lot, though. Definitely my favorite class I've had this semester.
Awesome teacher. Really knows his stuff and has a great sense of humor. He gives quite a bit of homework, but its all really good, and his was my favorite class this semester. His powerpoints are very entertaining, and he pretty much tells you what's going to be on the tests, even if his questions are a little tricky.
Quote from Mr. Love: "I haven't finished my PhD yet... but you can go ahead and call me Doctor". His initials ar D.R. Very arrogant.
He is a and fun professor. I highly enjoyed his class. The way he teaches forces you to memorize the New Testament as all Christians should (the chart, themes). I learned a lot in this class. It is easy, just a lot of small assignments. Three tests: the semi-final is the most important. The only negative: you have to mark up your books for a grade.
Dr. Love teaches well and I learned a lot in his class. However do not take his class if you don't have 8 hours to commit to homework. The work load is a bit overkill for a 100 level class. But I highly recommend Dr. Love if you want to learn a lot about the Bible.
Prof. Love is a lot of fun, but he definitely requires that you know the material well. I had to study hard in order to get an A. He is also really sarcastic, so if that's not your thing, you probably shouldn't take the class. I learned a lot because he required that we know it well for the tests. Make sure you memorize the chart!
Fun professor. Knows his material and has a great, creative way of introducing it to freshman. Loved the class. Requires you to read the entire New Testament but it was one of the best things I've ever done. Pretty young guy but he's still very intelligent. Able to slide by if a slacker. no assigned seats!
Prof. Love is pretty much the best Bible teacher at LU!! He is fun and down to earth. He has a way of bringing the Bible to life. If you pay attention and learn as he teaches (which is fun!), you find that you know almost everything that is on the test by the time it comes around. Take him!!!!!!!!!!
This teacher is terrible. He is not helpful at all! He and his GA's are very sarcastic. BTW there are assigned seats! This class should've been an BS class and he makes it harder than it should be. There are *pop* quizes on things he hasn't covered. TAKE TOWNS,I apparently made the wrong decision.
Dr. Love is a great prof for those that really want to learn about the New Testament. It is not the most fun class that you will ever be in, but if you don't catch his humor then that is just you. LOTS of homework. Be prepd to read the entire NT and write a paragraph on every chapter. Pop Quizzes are easy if you take good notes and review b4 class.
I loved this dude and he made class fun! His work is time consuming but worth it if you want to learn about the New Testament. You'll have to read about 4 books of the bible a week and write about them. He gives extra credit and a few pop quizzes. Take notes! There is a lot on the tests but just do and memorize the study guides and they're not bad.
Apparently LU students don't understand dry humor. I myself have similar humor as Love, and enjoyed his lightness.
Love is actually a great professor. The only difficult part of the class, if you can call it difficult, is the homework. You will read the whole NT, but we should be doing that anyways. He has a great sense of humor, and lectures aren't really all that painful.
Great Professor! He really helps you learn the material. If you are even somewhat responsible then the workload isnt bad and his lectures are hilarious. Take NT with Love!!!
Cool teacher but prepare yourself to read the Entire new testament and to write a summary about it. If you like to work a lot take Love
Has a ballin beard. I like his lectures. He's very sarcastic which makes the class even better. I've learned a lot throughout the course. I hope he eventually does higher level classes. His work may seem like a lot, but it's not too hard at all if you space the work out ahead of time.
Dr. Love gave out TOO MUCH homework for this class. Prepare to read one or two books of the bible a week and write 5-6 sentence paragraphs about each chapter. It's really annoying and his classes are unnecessary. This was the worst class I've taken so far. My friends recommend Towns.
At first, I didnt like Love's class because i thought he gave too much homework, but I actually really enjoyed him as a prof. He is hilarious and sarcastic and the homework assignments turned out to be cake. Plus, I learned a ton.
Love is THE MAN! And has a beautiful beard. His lectures are extremely interesting. He has great humor, and is one of the most intelligent teachers at LU. He's about to get his doctorate, so take him for BIBLE 110 before he moves on to bigger and better things...and beards!
Very intelligent. Definitely knows what he's talking about. Unbelievable amount of homework though. I'd take him on MWF, TR feels sooooo long.
Dr. Love is a great professor. He knows his stuff. Unfortunately, he gives out a LOT of homework. And it's not simple homework either. I recommend taking Towns for BIBL 110. He's boring, but very easy.
It takes a while to get use to him. At first you probably wont like him, but after a while you realize he is not that bad of a guy.
Love is a great teacher if you want to learn a lot. If you just want to take the class and get done with it, then take Towns, but if you care about the Bible (which I hope you do) take love but be prepared to work for that grade!
If you love doing tons and tons and tons of how and making your work load so much more for no reason...then yea that's him!
Fantastic professor! Yes, there is more homework in his class compared to other NT classes, but you will learn so much! He is very knowledgeable and also very funny!
Homework*
Dr. Love is a teacher that you should only take if you're willing to complete lots of assignments out of the classroom. With that said, he is a very funny, smart professor, who will help you grow in your understanding of the New Testament. I would highly recommend taking him, that is, if you're willing to put forth the effort.
He is an awesome teacher and you learn a lot from his class. Yes there is work but it is not hard at all. Your in college do work son.
You read through the whole nt and write chapter summaries on almost every chapter. Its not bad if you spread things out but if you try to do it all in a day or two it will take forever. Over all good teacher. I learned alot. Make sure you stay on top of things...
Funny and knowledgeable, lots of Bible readings and you'll have to write summaries/reflections. He's a good teacher who won't shy away from giving his opinion. You'll get out of class early most days and he'll have lots of Q&As, which can be a good or bad thing. Not so great if you're a commuter and waste your time driving to class....
Dr. Love is a great prof. Very knowledgable of the material and clear about sharing it. Works off PPT's which he sometimes puts online. A bunch of writing (typing) assignments but nothing too stressful. Learned a ton, One of my favorite classes so far at LU.
Professor Love is great. In his class you will learn a lot. Keep up with the homework and weekly quizes and you will do well. His class was my favorite this semester.
He is funny and smart. The tests and quizes are mostly short answer, not true/false or multiple choice. You will work in this class, but it's worth it because you learn alot. This class might seem hard the 1st few days, but you get used to it and it turns out to be easy. Definitely take Love. If you're a Christian who's ready to get into God's Word
Love knows his stuff. He allows for questions at the end of class. He is straightforward. Don't wait until the last minute to do your homework! Trying to summarize the entire book of Mathew in one night is hard, don't do it. Take Love, you will learn alot.
I definitely enjoyed this class. Dr. Love knows what he's talking about and he's designed the class so the students actually learn the New Testament. You have to work in the class but it's totally worth it. Nothing is multiple choice and you have homework, but like I said, you learn a ton and it's totally worth it! One of my favorite classes!
Great course! There is a great amount of reading and writing to do for this class, but it has been my favorite class while at Liberty. I walked away with a really good grasp of the Old Testament. Plan on spending a substantial amount of time reading the Bible and writing about it.
Dr. Love is awesome! He knows his stuff and wants you to know it too. There is a lot of homework and it's necessary to do well in the course. You earn your grade. I've learned so much! And I love it! If you want an easy A don't take him. But if you want to learn and develop a love for the NT I would suggest Dr. Love's class. One of my fav classes.
I love the way Dr. Love teaches. He makes things really interesting and I enjoy his lectures. He always has good stories that tie in with the lesson. I will definitely take him again. You do have to read a lot compared to other classes and you cannot procrastinate. I learned a lot!
He is very entertaining and his teaching methods are slightly unorthadox but you do learn and remember what he has to say. I love going to his class.
LOVE him! Pun intended, but seriously. He inspires his students to want to learn more, and he makes learning easy.
Mr. Love is an excellent professor who's interesting, very intelligent and fairly easy. There's a lot of work in his class but he gives plenty of time to do it. Also, he always gives what's necessary for the quizzes/tests in class. Just take notes in class and study them for the exams and you'll definitely pass. It was a very good class!
I LOVEd this class. There is a lot of work, but it's a Bible class- so you have to read it. Textbook quizzes are online & easy. In class quizzes he tells you about before-hand. Do the study guides & you will do well on tests. All info can be found on the ppts. G.A. is extreamly helpful. Class is really fun. Final exam review is hilarious. Take him!
This was his first time teaching "John", and so he was ready to admit that it was a little bumpy. He's knowledgeable about the book, presents the various textual and interpretive difficulties in a balanced manner, grades papers fairly, and his tests were easy if you bothered to study at all. Recommended.
Very interesting class, though he does assign a heavier workload than the other professors. You will definitely learn a lot though, not a boring class at all
Love is freakin awesome. Take his class! I didn't do my work the first round, but I know you learn A LOT of useful good stuff so I'm taking it again with him because I know I'll learn even more with a subject that's serious. Yes, there's easier and less time consuming ways out, but this class is worth it. Basically just do your work and study.
I am so disappointed in this class. I wish I could say something different.
PROS: Confident and well versed in what he teaches, speaks clearly, easy to understand, is upfront about what is expected from you, does not grade harshly. Lectures are not boring, provides excellent study guides. CONS: Assigns a heavy workload, not an easy A class, quizes are not multiple choice, expect to do a LOT of reading and writing papers.
Great professor. The work load is super hard, I kid you not. But he is seriously one of the best professors I have had. He really knows the material he is teaching on and is willing to stop and listen to what you have to say, even in a lecture class. I recommend it, if you're willing to work.
I love Professor Love! He has a great sarcastic sense of humor and he will hold your attention. His assignments although time consuming are very beneficial. I enjoyed this class.
Professor Love's class requires lot more work than some of the other Bible profs, but in the end you really learn a lot, and he is a great teacher. I always looked forward to his class...his semi final exam is really hard though.
Not really difficult, just a ton of work. It's definitely worth it though, as you will learn a lot. Prof Love is an awesome guy- one of the best profs I've had yet. He is extremely knowledgeable, and I would definitely recommend the honors version of 110 (210)- it's not that much more work and you get much more involved with a great professor!
This teacher was a great teacher to have, but I wouldn't recommend him unless you want a lot of homework. Also, if you do not study for the tests/finals you won't do well. Overall, the class was fun, but attendance is mandatory! If you don't put forth an effort, you won't do well. Also, make sure you study for all finals and mid-terms! :D
Love is extremely knowledgeable and makes class very interesting. He has a great sense of humor and I look forward to his class every other day. Yes, there is a good amount of homework, but this is college, people. The homework is rather easy and is fun (to me at least).
TAKE DR. LOVE! Flee from that fool Dr. Towns and take Professor Love's class! This man knows what he's talking about when it comes to the New Testament and makes you work for the A! If you want to have a solid grasp of the New Testament in one semester, take Love.
Love this class and Dr. Love! He is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Bar far my favorite professor.
Love has been my favorite professor so far. At the begininning of the class I was worried about the work. But tests are exactly from study guide! So easy. All the reading is a bit excessive. But I have never had a more helpful class. Love's humor makes class great plus when it does get dull just pull out the laptop and check twitter. GSAs dont care
He's a great teacher, but he can be pretty prideful.
If You Do Not Take New Testament With Dr. Love You Are Seriously Missing Out On Information You Will Need For The REST OF YOUR LIFE! Dr. Love is Hilarious and Wise! His facial hair and wardrobe alone make the trip to class worth while. You will read the entire New Testament in his class and have HW on it, but it's SO Worth It!
Love is the BEST teacher for New Testament you will find at Liberty! I grew up in the church, and I still learned so much that I had no clue about. His tests are hard and you have to study a lot for those, but you will know your stuff and won't forget it! He's sarcastic and has an awesome dry humor, and his review sessions are fun game days.
Very good professor! He knows his material very well and his lectures are very easy to follow. For New Testament, I would strongly advise him. However, he does make you do a lot of homework, but it's not hard homework, just a lot of it.
By far the best New Testament professor at this University!
Easy to talk to, fun to learn from, never a dull moment! All around great teacher!
what a disappointment. This class is not for the 100 level so be prepared to deal with stupid hard test that should not be given!!!!! Doesn't promote in class notes, so he puts them online which does not help. Class was not well put together!
This is a highly recommended class and professor. Dr. Love knows what he's talking about and has the Biblical foundation to back it all up. This class is not too difficult, as long as you are willing to fulfill our prior God-given command to read the Scriptures. Dr. Love is very funny, very precise, and very good at answering questions.
Dull class. Dry teacher. He held a very useless final review that resembled the TV show "Double Dare." I learned more about his family than the Bible. Sure this was an easy "A", but it was also a waste of my time.
You literally read the whole new testament, you have to know the chart he gives or you wont pass. all in all its an easy class as long as you study and put in the effort but it was definitely one of my harder classes
He is a great teacher but be prepared to work. It takes time, but you learn so much. People that don't like his class are lazy and don't want to do the work. Many Blessings
Phenomenal Class. must have for anyone who wants to learn.
The class is definitely difficult for incoming students, especially if you haven't had a BibleNew Testament class before. However you will learn a lot and Dr. Love cares a lot about making sure you learn the content. He will work with you and still emails past students once or twice a year to see how they're doing and answer any questions.
The class was very informative and dug into a survey of 'hot-topics' controversies in the NT. Dr. Love really challenges his students' statements based on whether or not they are biblical notions. So, it's not gonna cut it if you think something is 'right' or 'wrong' from personal experience, what you friend told you, or what your mama said...
If you hear people say that this class is hard, don't listen. They're just lazy. The quizzes are short answer but the questions come EXACTLY from the study guide he sends out. Yes, there are weekly assignments, but they are not hard in the slightest. Most of them are just opinion based. I didn't attend one boring lecture &I learned so much from him
Dr. Love is a wonderful professor who actually wants you to learn the material, retain it, and apply it to your life. He goes out of his way to be available to his students. I grew so much in my knowledge of the new testament from taking his class. I was always inspired by him and wished he taught old testament.
I had to take this professor for Bible 110 and it was the absolute worst! For a general class that we were required to take and had no relevance to 90% of the majors offered, this class was way too hard. I'm surprised it's not an honor's class. Too much homework, tests are too hard, and he grades harshly. Not worth it. Unless you're a Bible major.
Took BIBL110 and expected it to be hard. It wasn't if you take the time to memorize the study guides, you will get an A! He's actually a good teacher and know's what he's talking about. He requires work, it's not an easy class but it is very beneficial. He opens the floor to whatever questions students have. It's really interesting. and hes funny!
Dr. Love has been my favorite professor at Liberty. I took him for Bible 110 and took him again for the Gospel of John (not required) because I love him so much. He is incredible. So much wisdom and knowledge. It's challenging and is a lot of work, but I promise, it's worth it. Wish I could have him every single semester.
Loved this class! There was a lot of homework; but if you manage your time well, it's not hard to get done at all. Tests are hard, but he tells you EXACTLY what will be on the tests in the study checklist. Would recommend this professor!
He's the best professor I've had so far!!!
Dr. Love is a wonderful professor. His class has a good amount of work, but it's not difficult and if you make sure to complete it well and on time, you should do fine in the class. Also, he has amazing reviews for the final on blackboard, so make sure to use those, they saved me on the final exam.
Does NOT sound like he enjoys what he is teaching about at all. He talks too fast and sounds uninterested. I would not take him ever again. Worst NT professor by far.
Not a good professor. Doesn't give clear examples of what needs done. Uses a lot of trick questions that don't help a student learn. I would not recommend this professor due to the fact that he doesn't seem to care about his students
He's the best! If you put effort into the course and show initiative, you'll succeed for.
Dr. Love is an amazing professor. He goes in depth in his lectures and really thinks about what he is teaching. He is very passionate about what his is talking about. Expect to do homework, it isn't an easy A class, but you learn so much.
Give this man the benefit of the doubt. He's a great teacher, Bible is a tough subject to talk about because there are so many grey areas but he does a wonderful job relaying the facts. He LOVES his job and HE IS THERE for his students. He isn't a mind reader so talk to him if you need help!
If you ever have the pleasure of taking Dr. Love's bible 110 course prepare for your mind to be expanded. Dr. Love is very unique and every stance he has on a subject he has specific reason for his position. He opens the class up for questions and gives great examples and really wants to help people understand the Bible more. Highly recommended
If anyone says they don't like Doctor Love it's because they didn't try. Not only is his attendance optional, but he is super knowledgeable. Just know that all of his tests are non multiple choice and you will have to read the whole new testament.
Don't take this class. Dr. Love is not "loving" at all. He seems to have a lack of passion for the Gospel and also a lack of compassion for lost people. The Gospel is the essences of the New Testament and Dr. Love just acts like a know it all in class rather than teaching with passion for Christ.
One of the top professors at Liberty. He opens up on issues that Christians know about, but are often disputed. He makes you think and will strengthen your faith from it. I would say that at least 15 minutes per class he hands the mic to students and lets them ask anything they want! His tests are easy and come straight from the study guide!
If you want to actually learn something, take this class. If you want an easy A, this is not for you. His tests are in-depth, short answer/essay questions, but he literally tells you what the questions will be before hand. Study and you will be fine. Test material comes from class, NOT the book, so go to class. Quizzes come from the book.
He is by far the best professor I have had so far. He challenges students to be Spiritual (and goes in GREAT depth as to what 'being spiritual' means). The tests are all written, but they honestly are not that hard if you actually study. He does not require attendance (you should go, anyway!), and the assignments can be turned in whenever you want
I came into this class as a freshman. I was a little skeptical of this class. Specifically Dr. Love. He seemed like he was a nice guy, but would be tough on you. After I had taken the semi-final, I realized that I had learned more in that class than any of my other classes. Dr. Love may talk quickly, but he knows his stuff. Strongly recommended.
Dr. Love is a good professor and knows the New Testament quite well. However, this class seems to be a bit more work than expected from a 101 level class. The fill in the blank quiz and semi-final ought to be a bit easier rather than just blank. Take if you wish to learn a lot and are willing to work hard for the grade. Otherwise, take this online.
Dr. Love is great if you are willing to learn. There is an assignment and online quiz due each week, so if you want the easy way out take this course online. I personally learned a lot from this class and would recommend. Dr. Love is always in the ROT, so if you ask him to sit with you, he will.
I am an education major and I was taking notes on Dr. Love's teaching styles and the class! He knew how to get the student's attention and how to make sure the correct information was given. He does not make the class an easy class, but that's okay. I never expected a class about following Christ to be easy, because following Christ is never easy!
Dr. Love is a great professor to have. His lectures are fairly interesting, and he has large class discussions which are fun. He often eats at the dining hall to have better access to his students as well. Overall a great guy! Take his class if you can (since it's required.) His BIBL110 is easy enough if you put some effort into it.
Loved Dr. Love. Always counted on good laughs and powerful learning.
His power points and lectures don't seem to follow any structure. It is very difficult to know what is going to be on exams and quizzes because the power points are 90% pictures.
Really enjoyed Dr. Love's class. You can tell he respects his students and values their opinions. He is not afraid of answering hard questions honestly and opening it up to the class for more discussion. Even though his lectures weren't mandatory, I went to almost every class because I learned so much! Stay on top of assignments though, its a lot!
Dr. Loves class is challenging in a good way. It was a great encouragement for me in my faith and in my knowledge of the New Testament. Dr. Love is very knowledgable and wise. You will grow all around as a student, person, and follower of Christ from his class.
Dr. Love is rude and arrogant and walks around with the biggest superiority complex I've ever witnessed. HOWEVER, if you do your work and show up to most of his lectures you'll learn more about the NT than you thought possible. If you can deal with an arrogant professor, it's a class that is worth taking.
He challenges your critical thinking skills, which is exactly what we need at the college level. Incredible experience taking classes with Dr. Love!
Dr. Love tells you exactly what to know for each test or quiz, but there is usually a lot of information. If you are willing to put some time in you will get an A. I found his lectures very interesting and they usually contained some sort of life lesson, especially when it comes to family.
He does require quite a bit of homework but attendance isn't required so don't go. Just look over the power points and ur fine
I took Dr. Love's New Testament Survey course my first semester at LU and I absolutely loved it! It's tougher than you might expect for a gen. ed. course, but I appreciated that he didn't gloss over the material and he that was so passionate about it. I learned more in that one semester than years in church - definitely worth the extra work!
Dr. Love does make you work, but it is so worth it because you will learn so much. In the lower level class there are a lot of assessments, but they are not hard. Dr. love is one of my favorite teachers because he will make you think. if you're willing to do the work you'll lessees in his class that you will never forget!
attendance policy great (don't have to go) but still wanted too go and learned so much
New Testament honors with Dr. Love is a super rewarding class, but the course work is solid. If you stay organized and stay on track, you'll be fine. Crack through Dr. Love's surface and you'll find a man who deeply cares about his students.
You will learn so much in Dr. Love's class. While he isn't easy, he is extremely helpful and wants his students to understand the material and succeed. He is there for his students, I had him over a year ago and I, along with his other past students, still get emails inviting me over to his house to spend time with his family.
His lectures aren't very structured which sometimes makes it hard to follow in class. Taking notes is pretty much impossible so I suggest bringing a recording device of some sort. And he really likes having Q&A sessions which is admirable, but it sometimes takes the class off subject.
Dr. Love is one of the best professors I have ever had. Is his class easy? No. But for the first time in my life I was OK with that, because I actually learned in his class. If you want to actually learn about the bible, take Dr. Love. Plus, he is a genuinely nice man who cares about his students.
Dr. Love is one of my favorite professors at Liberty. Also, he is one of the hardest. But why would you want to take a Bible class that didn't challenge you? He may be tough, but you will learn so much from his teaching. As long as you study and pay attention in class, you should be able to get an A. I would definitely recommend Dr. Love to anyone.
One of the best classes I have ever taken, Dr. Love has been my favorite professor at Liberty.
Takes way too much time for questions and his lectures are all over the place. I have to teach myself in order to pass the tests.
Dr. Love was a wonderful prof. His classes are hard, but well worth it. Lots of work but you come out of the class with knowledge!
I took New Testament Survey through Dr. Love years ago and still receive emails from him about new classes, houses he rents out, and discipleship opportunities. He really cares about his students and has a genuine understanding and love for the gospel.
Dr. Love is one of the best teachers I've ever gotten to take. He really teaches you what you need to know, as well as gets the information in your head in a fun and productive way. I enjoyed his lectures and was very willing to attend class, because I always learned something in it.
This class was not just informative but it helped give me a firm foundation to my faith. Question and concerns I had were always promptly addressed, and Dr. Love's example as a teacher and a leader our one that others should be followed. Thank you Dr. Love for your in depth teaching with a real genuineness to help others.
Dr. Love's class was an amazing experience. I learned SO much, but he makes you work for it. Lots of homework and it's tedious, but it's the Bible so it's also great. Because of all the work I learned more than I ever have about the NT. He is funny and he will bring in his kids to class which is always a fun time. You won't regret taking his class.
When I graduate and look back on my time at Liberty I can tell you one man I am going to remember for a lifetime. I have never met a professor who cares about students like he does. God has used Dr. Love to change my life. The homework requires diligence. The exams are not difficult if you study the study guides, they are the exams.
Such a great class, I learned so much! He was an excellent teacher.
While some of the tests are tough, he offers a ton of extra credit to make up for it. No reason for someone not to receive an A.
This class was amazing. I have had many Bible classes before, but I enjoyed this one way more than I thought I would. He is an amazing teacher and very knowledgeable. There is quite a bit of work, but if you are organized it really isn't that bad. I learned SO much.
If you are looking to learn a lot, take this class. This class challenged me spiritually more than any other class I have ever taken. Dr. Love is possibly one of the most intellectual individuals I have ever encountered when addressing the Bible. This was my favorite class I've taken while at Liberty, and I wish I could take it over and over again.
If you are looking for a class that will help your spiritual walk take his class. His teachings on the bible are amazing. If you are looking for an easy class don't take his class. His weekly quizzes are very hard and there is a lot of reading. He says he changes his teaching style a lot so on the future it might be different.
Dr. Love is AMAZING. He emphasizes praying through hard things and interacting with the scriptures to get to your heart. He's inspirational and respected. You read the whole NT and respond (HW every Monday). He is an easy grader. Quizzes every week (easy) + final exam (easy). He gives you exactly what's on it! It's my favorite class and so easy!
One of the quickest minds I have ever encountered. So knowledgeable on everything. Sincere, intense, devoted, and an amazing speaker. His love for students has grown more evident in the 4 years I've known him and I wish I could take his class every semester. Every class had multiple "mind blown" moments. His love for God and others is beautiful.
I learned a lot about the New Testament and I God by taking this class. It was easily one of my favorite courses.
Dr. Love really cares about his students. He loves to invite people over and incorporate his family and family values into his lectures and stories. The class work is time consuming but not bad in difficulty, and you get plenty of extra credit opportunity. It's an overall fun and definitely eye opening class! Dr Love is awesome!
Dr. Love's grace period on homework, such a grade saver. Honestly, his class should be labeled "How to Pray", not New Testament. I was excited to learn about the NT, have yet to learn anything. He's cool guy, but being in his class is like pulling teeth; Super boring. And the homework is ALL busy work and super tedious. Lots of EC opportunities.
If you actually want to learn the New Testament, then don't take this professor. You only have to show up, type in the code stay or leave. Do the written assignments and just memorize the study guide and chart.
Great class, learning a lot every day. My favorite part is the interactive questioning. The class has helped me gain a stronger and better understanding of the New Testament and how to apply it to my life. Also I enjoy the praying in class and learning the different ways to pray.
Took him for BIBLE 110 which is being changed so I'm only gonna talk about him. Hes a good guy that has a cool retro style and is really open-minded. Like a logical Christian hippy. He's a been-there-done-that intellectual so if your want to learn a bunch of new things he's not for you. He definitely has an interesting chill approach tho.
AMAZING professor.. had him for BIBL110. knowledgable yet humble and its evident that his teaching style showed that he really cared about his students and wanted them to see breakthrough and real change in their lives. He allows the Holy Spirit to lead his lectures and it has brought so much healing for many students. He is authentic and genuine
Dr. Love is literally so amazing. His knowledge of the scriptures is incredible and he has a Biblical answer for basically every question you have. He's also super Loving (no pun intended) and invites you over to his house for prayer meetings and bonfires and movie nights. I'd HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you take him
Dr. Love is a really good professor. I learned A LOT about New Testament in this class. There's a lot of homework, but once you figure out how to do it, you can finish it pretty quickly and you learn SO MUCH from the homework- sometimes I go back to reference it when I'm studying my bible. Would take again.
Dr. Love, although very knowledgable and well-spoken, is very unclear about every assignment's criteria and due date. At the beginning of the semester he was surprisingly condescending and rude when asked questions in class, but he improved over time. Best part of this class is he didn't give any tests.
Dr. Love meant well, but he was extremely disorganized and vague. The assignments in the syllabus were not the assignments we were given, and he was constantly changing assignments and then blaming us for not paying attention. However, he definitely cared about his students, and invited us over to his house several times. Great man, messy teacher.
Dr. Love is an amazing professor! He is so knowledgeable and truly cares about everyone! Be ready to do homework but it is so beneficial for you! No tests and easy quizzes. He is a little disorganized but still amazing. This class it is not about your grade, it is about you diving into the word! If you get the chance take this course with him!!!
I am a 4.0 student and I do not think this professor held a good class. Dr. Love disregards the normal new-testament textbook and instead forces students to memorize his personal beliefs. My group had five different denominations and all of them were irritated that he forced us to take his word for it for all of his lectures and test questions.
My experience with Dr. Love was absolutely one of my favorites at LU. He cares not just about your grades, but your personal walk as a Christian. For teaching a class with hundreds of students, he makes it feel like home. I would HIGHLY recommend taking his class! Even if it isn't the easiest A, my semester with him was beyond worth it.
Loved learning under Dr. Love. Liked him so much in NT that I took John. He cares about his students and is very intelligent regarding the subjects he teaches. Hes also great to connect with out of class and is eager to help students grow intellectually and spiritually.
Dr. Love is among the best professors you could ever have. Classwork is geared toward actual learning and personal growth rather than simple mindless tasks. Everything in the class is geared toward a real understanding of the New Testament. If you truly want to understand the New Testament and the God who made it, Dr. Love is the best teacher.
Dr. Love's New Testament class was my favorite Bible Class at Liberty. Dr. Love really cares about his students and seeks for you to deeply understand the material he is teaching. I learned so much through the homework and in class discussions, and it helped me clarify my theology and personal relationship with God. He is very giving of his time.
I think Love may have forgotten the part of the Bible about loving your neighbor as yourself. Disrespects most students with another view, and makes students memorize his view on the bible even if they disagree. Very disrespectful, will embarrass you in front of class. Maybe he means well, but I never could pay attention due to his lack of respect.
I think Dr. Love forgets this is a 100 level class and most of us have other classes. The tests in this class are essay tests. I remind you, 100 level. He grades well you highlight your textbook. Don't ask questions because the man is rude when he responds will belittle you. Avoid Dr. Love at all costs and just take the class online.
Overall the course with him was okay. He started the class very unorthodox & not well organized which caused much confusion among the students & myself - the due dates of when he expected the 'Highlighted' assignments & notes were unclear. Towards the end of the semester he assigned seats. Hopefully, he's improved. Easy pass, I like prayer time.
The good thing about this course was the reading assignments - I learned new things diving into the bible. Quizzes are relatively easy but you need to memorize themes and charts. I enjoy when Dr. Love prays for some duration of the class. H.w. is tedious but beneficial. He is a bit unorthodox but a good teacher.
Just a very hard class. Youll end up asking yourself several times Holy crap this is only a two credit level 100 class??? Hes often times very condescending to students, once he even walked up to me and took a picture of me on my phone and mocked me to the class.
Disrespectful and just rude if you don't agree with him. Said things and doesn't explain like "predestination is Biblical" and then doesn't explain why at all. Makes you buy the books because you have to basically destroy them in order to get credit. Grading is just their opinion. Also tries to plug his merch. If you take his class, Godspeed.
Dr. Love is one of the most dysfunctional Profs. I've had at LU. Tests, homework and other assignments are poorly explained. Grading often seems totally random and opinionated. Comes off as rude and condescending. Often poorly explains or doesn't even explain at all topics that can be very divisive and expects us to simply accept them.
Dr. Love has created one of the more confusing BIBL 110 classes. He provides a significant amount of homework but it very little relates to the class. Instead, the homework is very opinionated and does not benefit you at all. He does not explain the assignments well and the due dates start to get confusing for these assignments.
Dr. Love really takes time to invest in the students. It's obvious he does not want us to fail, but he really wants us to internalize the material which is why he makes us work harder for it. Great class! Love his sarcastic wit!
Dr. Love is a very smart man that doesn't apply his knowledge to his course. I found the class to be an "easy A" as the majority of the lectures were "prayer sessions." If you study the New Testament chart and write the papers, you'll get a great grade. PS. The final exam was a baptism.
Dr. Love is great at what he does- teaching what he believes in. The part that I do not like is this class being called Bible 110: New Testament Survey because we're not going through the Bible traditionally, were going with Loves chronological bible. Bible 105 was better because we actually read through the Bible in class.
Don Love is a highly educated man. He seems very well versed in biblical studies and at first sight would appear to be fully qualified. However, it is almost impossible to see these qualities because of his extremely over-inflated ego. Half of his lecture sessions consist of him trying to establish HIS opinion, not biblical materials.
I was excited for this class!.. that is, before I sat down for Day One. Dr. Love embodies the phrase 'my way or the highway'. He is educated; but his education makes him rude, conceited, surly, and extremely intolerant--not someone who should be leading us through a survey of the New Testament. I agree 100% with every 2018 comment left below.
Dr. Love's is a very loving professor; He wants to see God's love transform each and every student. He cares about praying through things of your past to show you where the devil has lied to you in your life. spiritual growth happens in class! Naturally, he is human too, so please show him the same love of Christ you would want extended to you.
Very educated but horrible at teaching and extremely unorganized, made the Bible boring. Assignments/due due dates were unclear. Insane about of homework for a gen ed class. Dont take it.
Teeeeerrrible. "Reformed" charismatic who will teach you "Don Love's opinions on the New Testament", not "Overview of the New Testament".
He was unorganized and rude.
This has been my favorite college class so far. I'm a video student and I'm wishing I could take this class again. Dr. Love focuses lectures on addressing topics of discussion, from a biblical standpoint, then he opens it up for questions. It is very discussion based. Furthermore, Dr. Love approaches everything from a Biblical standpoint.
He liked to talk about his views a lot like they were the end all be all and anything other is wrong. I feel like I gained nothing from the course. He treated it like it was the only class you were taking. Beware of the infamous "semi-final" which is worth 20% of the grade, claimed to be the base of the class but was never actually covered.
He is awesome! I actually left his Bible 110 class feeling like I learned something. He is an awesome professor and deserves a lot of credit for all the work he does for his students in and outside of class.
Dr. Love is extremely biased and comes off arrogant and sometimes narrow minded. He has good intentions, but his delivery is often conceited and heavily opinionated. Especially for a 100 level class.. take it with someone else for your own sake!!
Monotone ; very hard to reach and is not very helpful ; speaks fast
Overall, he's a good teacher. There are very easy weekly quizzes and writing assignments, and there are 2 exams and an optional final. The exams are based entirely on memorization (he tells you exactly what the answers are and you just have to write them on a sheet of paper). You have to buy fill-in-the-blank notes and there are notebook checks.
During the Spring of 2019 semester, Dr. Loves New Testament Class was easy to work through and learn. Dr. Love has a teaching style dedicated to proper learning. He also gives appropriate responses to questions in class. Class could be improved by limiting questions to things that pertain to the class lecture, rather on things that arent related.
Great professor that truly cares about his students.
Super intelligent man of God who takes time to listen to each one of his students and cares about us.
Dr. Love is a really good guy and a good professor to have. He cares about his students. However, he does say some pretty questionable things like, "not all slavery is bad" and other controversial things. I'm on track to pass the class with over 100% and overall enjoyed my time in this class. The average day is 3/4 lecture 1/4 Q&A style.
I enjoyed his class for the most part, though he did push his opinions a little bit. However, he was respectful of others opinions in my class. My only real complaint was how some of the quizzes did not match the text book chapters.
Dr. Love runs his class clearly, concisely, and fairly. He offers plenty of opportunity for participation and spreads his grades over many assignments. His views are unorthodox for some, but he welcomes healthy debate in class. The only criticism is that he sometimes gets carried off on tangents instead of teaching material. Would take again.
I enjoyed Dr. Love's class and that he has us read through the New Testament while we're going through the different books. You do have to write a lot for the tests, but Dr. Love tells you exactly what you need to know, which was helpful. Overall, the class was good and I appreciate the fact that Dr. Love cares about his students.
Dr. Love was a great encouragement this year for my bible class. He got our class to read the Bible for ourselves and to write a discussion on what we read and what we thought about that book for the week. He dug deep into the New Testament which I had never had before until this year. Definitely one of the best bible teachers at liberty university
Many speak poorly of Love for his "unaccepting" views of the NT but, this is not true. I respect Dr. Love because no matter what he believes there is scripture to validate it. Dr. Love always seeks to find the truth from the Bible and will change his views if the Bible says something different. This class is an easy A if you just do your work.
Dr. Love was by far one of the best professors I had here at Liberty. I feel that I know a lot more about Scripture than I used to. Quizzes are easy, yet you really have to prepare for tests. He is a very complete professor to teach the New testament, always try to help the students and is also very kind. I would 10/10 recommend Dr. Love
Dr. Love really likes to express his opinions in places they do not belong. For a Bible professor, his personality is rather aggressive and harsh. He has a good way in making sure his students leave the class knowing what the books of the New Testament are about. The class was easy and interesting. However, I was not a huge fan of him.
Dr. Loves BIBL 110 was the first class I regularly looked forward to. No Papers, No projects; If you fill-in the blanks in the booklet, and take the weekly online tests (all the answers in the textbook!) youll do fine! The final is a lot of memorization, but its the focus of the whole class, so you have plenty of time. Really fun conversations.
Great professor. Took several classes with him
Soooo much of the feedback on papers regards the so-called Turabian format. This is a graduate-level course, but I felt like it was a high-school English course with a nit-picky teacher. Online courses at Liberty do not impress, either. Professors send out two emails a week and assign lots of reading. No real interaction with them at all.
Overly strict grader, unclear instructions. All quizzes are essay questions, some too generalized: you either get 10 points or zero. Not sure if he expected specific citations from the books but no partial points on quizzes. Textbooks are somewhat helpful but can be a bit nuanced with symbolism and lack of exegesis. Take John with another professor
