Mr. Parker was a very tough grader, but he made it very clear of what he expected in a paper, and how a student can/should write it. If you want to learn how to write the English lanuage properly, he will definitely teach you.

I learned alot about American Lit from Prof Parker. However, I did not feel any excitement regarding the subject. Rather, his class felt like a burden to me & I got no enjoyment from it. Literature & learning should inspire you. This class left me cold

Tough class, but do your work and you'll do fine. I learned a lot from him in both classes I took. People that complain are just lazy and annoyed that you have to do work to do well in his class. Very fair professor.

I never appreciated any forms of literature until I was in his class. He is hard, but do your readings and you'll be fine. I am the only person I know that has gotten an A in his class. He's good, but you have to work

You aren't the only person that recieved an A, I got an A in his short stories class over the summer. He makes lit. seem more interesting and opens your eyes to new things. Fun class, a lot of reading and pretty tough. Just be prepared for a lot of work.

Very hard grading system. He a strange way of acting in cass, likes he's better than everyone.

Teaches well, invites questions and then insults you for 20 minutes.

He's a tough teacher and does not fool around when it comes to details in a story.He WILL make you a better writer, but more time and effort are needed than is truly worth it if you are not majoring in it.

You'll def learn alot by the end of the semester...but the essays are killer and your essays are not the way he wants...then you wont do good in the semester...just participate alot and study

took him and I will tell you it what it was a real eye opening experience. he makes you earn your grade. trust me on that. he was willing to help us when it came time for our reserch to proof read and give us feed back to help us make our papers better. he does say "yes yes" many times.

Nice guy makes you work your butt off for a C, but if you work hard you’ll maybe make a B. Will make you a better writer

I enjoyed the class because he made Shakespeare a lot easier to understand. If you are looking to improve your writing skills then take a class with him.

he's a tough teacher and a bit arrogant but he knows his stuff and deserves respect.

Great professor. He was arrogant, but had the brains to back it. Essay grading was harsh, but the quizzes were easy so long as you were caught up on the reading. His rants about society were long, but humorous.

He's very smart, sarastic but is willing to help if you need it. He does critizie our generation, but it's all in fun. The quizzes are easy. Looking up words you dont know and just read the info. I would say a somewhat hard grader with the essays, but overall nice and friendly

Professor Parker was an extremely wonderful teacher, hard teacher, but you learned a lot from him. He made his classes very enjoyable, and helped you see things from another prospective. I would recommend anyone to take him.

good teacher. helped me a lot with my writing. a great poem critic. the only thing that bothers me is his way of talking about "the people out on the street", he makes them look stupid.

I had never had a college class that took me on such a beautiful journey of self-discovery and awakening until I took this class. Open your mind--you'll get so much more out of this class.

A bit arrogant and opinionated, but what English professor isn't? He's interesting and knows what he's talking about. If you are genuinely interested in learning about American Literature and aren't afraid of work I would definitely recommend him.

Tough but fair. If you're looking for an easy 'A,' he's not your guy. I must say, he did get me to finally appreciate Shakespeare.

He can be a little bit of a know it all, but that is because he really does know a lot. If you are interested in Poetry, Creative Writing Poetry is a very good class to take. You will learn a lot and come out a better writer, he likes when students participate, and come to class on time. He's not so bad, I'd say overall a pretty decent teacher.

Don Parker is tough to bare through, but if "one" grinds "one's" teeth and stops focusing on the pretentious manner in which he appears, "one" might learn a great deal of academia. His opinions are strong, but he is a highly accredited man and, therefore, his thoughts are well examined and clever.

Extremely tough class, honestly you will get sick of hearing him talk after a week or so.

Hes very smart. Knows poetry and short stories I'm just lazy and im sure everyone else here is too. If you want an easy C don't take him.yes i said C.you'll spend 5 hours a night thinking deeply into depressing poetry looking up every word .but don't say rude things because you didnt work hard enough.he knows what hes talking about.

Great professor... Do what he asks and use your brain. EASY class... If you don't like to listen then go elsewhere, he likes to call people out on their laziness / stupidity (which should be required by teachers IMO). No sense living in denial.

He is an intelligent man, who is most helpful to intelligent and proactive students. If you are a bum, who smokes weed on breaks and comes to class spotty, don't take his courses-- you will fail.

Parker comes off as an arrogant, pompous cowboy with a vendetta against hallmark cards, cell phones, and the youth's lack of motivation to pick up a book. But, if you stop concentrating on his personality and focus on the knowledge that you can gain from him, you will walk out of his class writing much more eloquently than you ever have before.

Hard grader. But if you start off rough he looks at how well you improved. I learned a lot from his class. Don't agree with some of his views but a great teacher overall.

He expects a lot of his students, and will belittle if they do not deliver. He is arrogant and pretentious, but he has the knowledge and insight to justify it. Whenever I needed help he helped. Overall, he is probably one of the best professors I have had

He's a hoot! What a character. A dry sense of humor, but not humorless by any means. He states clearly what he expects of his students, and holds them to it. Listen to what he is saying. You will benefit from his knowledge. If you think it might be to your advantage to communicate accurately through your writing; take his class.

I find him funny, and his grading technique HARD.He expects the best from his students and his put-downs of society are HARSH to say the least.If you can take him with a grain of salt and learn he can be a good Professor.

Very good teacher, smart guy. I failed his class because I had a failing quiz average. Quizzes were the hardest part about the course for me- expects students to correctly interpret before entering class which didn't sit well with me. That's not teaching. I knew the material but it wasn't enough. Helpful to those who help themselves. Learned a lot.

I received A's in both his ENG 201 and Poetry class. Passing with better than a C is not impossible but keep in mind that this is not a teacher you can BS with. He makes you WORK for ever blessed point on an assignment. This dude can sure be an asshat but he really knows his stuff. If you put in the effort, he WILL make you a better writer.

Mr.Parker is one tough teacher b/c when you write essays he wants you to do every thing he says. he is a broken record so listen to him carefully.every single line of your essays count and so do the quizzes.he is a good teacher but treats class like an honors class.he can be unbearable at times but just ignore it.i don't recommend him at all though

extremely touch grader, you will probably fail the first few essays, but once you understand what he wants the class gets very easy. He is an amazing professor which is why he gets bad reviews, if you are legitimately interested in improving your understanding of reading and writing, take this man.

Great class. I learned a lot. Your education is what you make of it. this class is very difficult. must it is meant to be. if you want easy go back to high school.

His classes are challenging to say the least. He expects a lot but hands you the pieces to the puzzle. I found his views on society hilarious. Have a sense of humor, work hard, and ask a lot questions.

To begin, Professor Parker's sense of humor is complex and often difficult to understand, however, he does have one. Despite a somewhat cynical view of the world, Professor Parker is a Professor one can truly admire. His efforts are in getting students to think for themselves and develop strong arguments. I would take his class again.

Professor Parker is a genuinely tough,difficult professor. If you go into his class thinking you will get an A,you will not. Prof. Parker likes things a specific way. If you aren't a good writer or at least don't want to become a good writer, don't take this class as he is not an easy grader. Also he hates cell phones and technology.

Had him for Poetry, and he is no joke. Professor Parker makes you work for your grade, but it's all worth it in the end when you see the progress you made since the start of the semester (if you apply yourself). Poems aren't graded, you just get credit for turning them in on time. Pop quizzes can kill your grade, so study! Can be harsh at times.

You get what you earn in Parker's class. He's a very intelligent albeit scary man, but it's a class that you learn something worthwhile in and shouldn't take merely to fulfill a requirement. To improve at writing and simultaneously feel like you've made an accomplishment by surviving his class, go for it!

I took him ages ago. I was just talking about him to my co-worker. He left such a great impression upon me. Every teacher should teach and care about their students the way he did. If you studies hard, took notes and listened to what he was teaching, you could ACE his class. His personality is not his fault regarding your grade..
