This is easily one of the most challenging classes @ TSU. If you're not so good at Chem, my advice is to take Dr. Patterson. Be ready to devote the time and effort it takes to achieve the grade you want. ! He really is an excellent professor who loves to joke with his students. Hopefully, he continues to do experiments in class!

Dr. Patterson is easy going but his explanations are non existent. I am taking Chem II and I feel like he expects you to know so much. Such a great professor! I took him for both Gen Chem 1 & 2. He gives plenty of resources - homework, quizzes, and in-class problems that prepare you REALLY well for his exams. His online class is structured really well, with his lectures being asynchronous with some zoom classes to go over what was taught. Chemistry is hard, but he makes it easier.

This course requires a lot of studying to be put in outside class. Most exams had a curve that helped bump people into passing, and at the end of the semester he adjusted the grading scale to make getting an A or B easier. He gives extra credit for attendance and often gave bonus points to those who stayed for the lectures after the quizzes.

Don is a fantastic professor that has to teach an extremely difficult class. He doesn't only make attendance part of the grade but also gives bonus credit for attending his lectures. He is extremely hilarious and makes this course more bearable. But you do have to study a lot and be on top of the course just because it is very dense.

Fantastic Professor who honestly loves what he teaches. Chemistry is a difficult subject so you can expect this class to be difficult no matter who you take, especially due to the ACS exam. Dr. Patterson offered extra credit and 5-10 point curves on all his exams. I would absolutely take him again if I could.

This class is a weed-out class but it prepares you as an Engineer. This class is very difficult and you will take classes in the future that are harder. 10 question quiz every 1 to 2 weeks. Average on all test/quiz was 60 but gives plenty of curves and extra credit +10 points. Do practice test, practice sheets, Office hours, SI sessions, youll pass

was willing to help along the way and was lenient on grading whenever the class as a whole failed to get a concept. the class itself is difficult but is easily passible with the test reviews given, the subjects in the reviews missed some of the questions on the test . BUT he did allow you to make it up! extra credit allowed me to go up a grade.

Very energetic and passionate. Attendance isn't MANDATORY, but there's lots of exit tickets or even extra credit just for staying the whole time. On top of those extra points, he dropped the lowest quiz, curved the final, modified the grade scale, and replaced our lowest exam grade with the final. Chem is a hard class regardless of the prof.

Those hating this prof. for bad grades didn't put in enough. Chemistry is VERY HARD, but with Patterson, it was manageable! I learned a lot from his lectures and found him to be entertaining. He cares about you passing, but only if you earn it. Extra credit, curved every exam AND the final, and drops the lowest quiz. He's very smart! Great guy!
