I've had dental work more entertaining then this guy.

Not trying to bash, but is one of the worse professors I have had. Unwilling to take time for students who need the extra help. The class is basically teach yourself from the book or fail. Makes students feel really inferior
I didn't learn one thing about accounting. You have to teach yourself from the book. He gives no help and does not seem to care about his students.
I was a transfer student in Accounting. HE was the first class I took at Siena. I left almost in tears and switched to Marketing. If I wanted to teach myself I would have taken the class online!
Ok so his class is not the easiest and it is a self learning class but I do have to say that I learned the most in his class. It was a challenge and there was always something due but I made it and I knew what I was doing no question.
He is a piece of SH*T. He is an evil gnome. Do not listen to his bullsh*t, he is an awful professor. You will learn nothing, even if you do the do the work. A reward will be granted for his death.

Avoid this class like the plague. He gives tenure a bad name. How he is allowed to still teach is beyond me. Wonder what he gets paid for if we are supposed to teach ourselves.

I got an A in his ACCT class and plan to take him again. If you do what he tells you to, you will get a good grade. Read the text, pass the quizes, and participate. His personality is different, but friendly.
Great guy. I hang out with him regulary on the weekends. Sometimes he lets me kick his dog and trim his beard. Amazing teaching style, should be used by all professors at Siena, guaranteed A. The class was a cake walk.

He relies on an active learning pedagogy which requires the student to do a lot of work. If you do the work and ask questions not only will you succeed but you will actually learn for a change. Take him if you want tio pass the CPA exam.

Worst class ever. You can learn alot b/c you have to teach yourself, but when you have other classes it's impossible to put in the time you'd need. We're paying all this money for a teacher, shouldn't they so at least SOMETHING!
Even though the teaching style sucks, my advice is don't resist. Do all of the things his style suggests and you will pass. Very time consuming. Class participation project was quit comical.

Managed to get an A in his class only b/c I taught myself everything. Tests arent too bad, only because I taught myself everything. If you like teaching yourself everything, take this course. If not, stay away

What a frickin idiot. If I had to take this guy again I would transfer. He thinks he is god's gift to accounting, yet is really horrible at teaching it. You will learn accounting in this class, but its really only because you have to teach it to yourself with the textbook. If you see him in the hallway, kick him in the nuts for me.
Yes this professor expects alot, but no less than what is expected once you get into the field. You end up learning quite a bit. When were college classes supposed to be easy? Looks like only the whiners have rated this professor thus far.

He is one of the most horrrrible teachers I've ever encountered in my life. I only stayed for two classes and knew he was going to be horrible because oh yeah, he doesn't teach you anything whatsoever. If you're smart, don't bother taking him, or plan on retaking this ridiculous class again.

he's a decent professor...kinda peculiar tho. who wants to teach accounting, anyway? it's more the course and its material than the teacher. it's drier than Oscar Wilde or Saga's "London broil." however, if you don't like the course within the first two days, i recommend dropping it.
I was so scared when I had to take this guy -but he really isn't that bad. Goes way too fast sometimes, but if you look alive in class and pay attention - you'll be fine - don't believe what others have said completely

Quizes almost every class on things he doesnt teach... depends on u to do all the work n learn it yourself... two sets of h/w for every class... so yea the class is a ****..dont take him if u can
dr. raux is one of the toughest teachers i have ever had in my lifetime....he is never clear on what he wants from you....the homework load is ridiculous and you never go over it in class to understand what you did. the tests are tough and he sucks as a teacher all together. if you can avoid taking him during your four years here!

Don't be scared off by the other comments. I got an 'A' as a freshman! Dr. Raux's teaching style is harder than some of the other professors. But if you put the time in, you will learn much more than you would otherwise, which is evident by Raux's students scoring higher on the final every semester. You'll do a lot of work, but it'll be worth it!
I am a senior and in my last semester. Professor Raux has ruined it for me. He requires AT LEAST 9 hours of homework to be handed in every week. He offers no constructive criticisms and treats you like children. Expect to have to make and use nametags, assigned seating, pop quizzes and more. Little compensation for a lot of hard work.

tough class, but you end up learning a lot, even stuff you missed in previous accounting classes. be prepared to devote sufficient time to his projects.writing-intensive, again you end up learning...will help with cpa preparation.
Raux is one of the best professors at Siena. His teaching methods are effective; they allow that a large portion of class time is devoted to concepts that students experience difficulties with. He is always willing to help and answer any questions that students have. His grading style is appropriate for an intro course. Take him for class!
Raux is the mannnnnnnn. People that give him bad reviews are just lazy and stupid. He is hilarious in class jst becasue he says the most random things. All tests are done w. a clicker that you buy and it takes about 2 weeks just for everyone ot figgure that out. Raux makes me love accounting. Too bad he's only the financial teacher : (
Not as bad as people say. A lot of work and expects a lot from students, but ended up teaching me a great deal. Not the prof. to take if you need things to broken down in great detail. Can be fustrating to ask question because he doesn't understand them usually. one piece of advice...go to his office hours, it REALLY helps.
Raux uses pedagogy, so you basically teach yourself the course and then he just goes over the homework. The main things about this class to remember is to always read your book in advance, so you'll be ready for the quizzes, do the homework every single night, and NEVER miss class. Raux's an excellent teacher who gets a bad rep. TAKE PROF. RAUX!!
After taking the final, I can say Raux was the professor to take. His classes were the most prepared and the final consisted of some ?s from his quizzes. He may not be liked but I guarentee you will learn A LOT of information; willing or not. He is an excellent teacher and his teaching strategy does actually work.Don't be scared to ASK QUESTIONS!!!

He is a really nice guy, funny too but assigns A LOT of work. If you're not going to be dedicated to the class then don't take it. If you keep up with the work and visit him if you're having trouble you'll be fine. Make sure you DO the work.
Dr. Raux's class is not easy because there's alot of work involved. But, if you listen to what he focuses on in class,and do the work; (and he'll remind you 100 times how important that is), you'll do fine. The web tools and review books that come with the class are very helpful, if you use them. He's very clear, and he cares if you do well.
Horrible teacher! Very inconsiderate about other people. Uses a useless program online and doesn't teach in class. I feel as though i'm taking an online class but have to sit and hear him talk for 1.5 hours about nothing! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Worst class taken at Siena yet! One of the worst professors at siena college. His teaching style is an extremely ineffective one. He is never clear about what he wants, he doesn't teach you ANYTHING. it is up to you to teach yourself. He is unfair and unreasonable. He gave us a 75 question test to finish in 80 minutes and 3/4 were calculation problems... AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This the worst teacher here at Siena College. If could give him negative ratings I would. He is not helpful, his tests are awful, there is a quiz every class ... He thinks hes a good teacher but hes not and than he flips out on the class bc he doesnt understand why the class average on the test is a 27. DO NOT TAKE HIM !! DO NOT.

This professor is under the impression that he is a good teacher because he has been "conducting research on the best way to teach accounting for 20 years" (which he will remind you of at least once every class. He belittles his students when they don't do a sufficient job in teaching themselves the class material. He is the anti-Christ. AVOID HIM!
In my many years as a student and in my few years out in the professional world, I have never met a person more passionate about not doing his or her job than this man. Avoid at all costs, take another professor or take an equivalent course through another school, the previous reviews accurately summarize the quality of his teaching.

I enjoyed Dr. Raux's class. Yea it was hard and yea he was sometimes sarcastic, but every person in my class liked him (only 6 people in class) and it was a good learning environment. Treat the book as your bible, pay attention in class (especially to pass quizzes) and go to office hours! SERIOUSLY HE ISN'T THAT BAD
If you want to know what your doing in accounting this is the prof for you. Its alot of work but you always know EXACTLY what your supposed to know for the next class and as long as you do that, your fine.I would say his class should be reserved for people who think they want to be an Accounting major.If you get stuck in his class, dont worry!
Dr. Raux is not a good professor to take if you want an easy A. He will make you work for it. I personally do not like his teaching method, but you do learn the material. All the learning you do is done by yourself. He won't help you. He also isn't clear on his teachings. Good luck.
I would rather deepthroat a cactus than take a class taught by this moron again. Quiz every class. You read each chapter and synopsis and do the homework before he lecture. And put your pens away while he lectures because "note taking should have been done before class" Horrible teacher!!!
