Avoid this teacher if at all possible. He is not only a bad teacher, he is rude and doesn't keep up with posting assignments on the web site. He doesn't explain things well at all. He teaches Chem and Bio.
Woods's class is tough but he's a great teacher. He comes to class prepared, returns tests quickly and is willing to answer questions. If you want to learn take his class, if you're looking for an easy "A" find another teacher.
Professor Woods was one of the best teachers I've had, hands down. He is charismatic and clear; a born teacher. He regularly sacrificed his time to help any of us who were having a problem. His class turned me on to science.
Just finished with an "A". Tough class, but he gave extra tutoring sessions each week -- was always available for extra help, was fun in class, and forced us to think. Like an earlier poster said, if you want an easy class take someone else. But if you want to be prepared for the next classes in the series, training from Woods is as good as gold.
I took his class and was very unhappy with his teaching abilities. He had us read the chapters and do homework, that was our way of learning the material. He then read his powerpoint that was hard to understand because the material was not taught. I wish he would have taught the material and not make us learn from the book. I would never take his c
All useless jargon.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!
he is a good teacher but Expect to do a lot, I mean a lot of work on your own in his class. He probably has one of the highest drop rate I've seen, especially if you expect the teacher to give you everything. Homework & assignments have to be given on time. not really flexible but sometimes he makes nice gestures. his sense of humor is borderline.
Don is an amazing teacher. I took him for Nutrition and Biology 160. All of his lectures, homework, and everything else is based on READING and UNDERSTANDING the book. He knows what he's talking about and he makes everything simple and straight forward. He has high expectations for his students to learn and to have fun! Great Teacher!
I took four classes with Don and thought he was wonderful! He was fair in grading, and really helpful outside of class when I would come to him with questions. Got A+'s in each class. He is wonderful and I wish he taught at my current school! :)
He is a very difficult teacher. He gives trick questions on the exams and does not teach in a way that is easy to understand. Expect to do about 3 hours of homework a day on this class. I wouldn't mind working hard if I felt I was learning anything, but a lot of the work would be unnecessary if he just explained better.
Don was a very difficult teacher. His class was fair, but he will nail you for NOT FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS!!! Work hard, read the book, ask questions and study. He's very smart and willing to work with you if you make an effort. Not an easy class, but I learned a lot.
Don Woods is a not a very good teacher. He teaches from power points very very quick, not the book. He constantly gets off the subject and on a rant about random things. Majority of his test questions are analytical questions and the multiple choice is not A,B,C,D it is A,B,C,D,E and answers are very similar, very tricky
VERY HARD!
very good teacher, will answer any and all questions. you need to read alot and study alot or you will fail. lots of time invested in this class is a must if you want to pass. goes deep into the material. but he is a nice and funny guy. kindda a hippie. study hard and you will do great in his class.
Don't get me wrong, this prof is a very nice guy with a great sense of humor, however he teaches at a level that is way beyond the textbook. Just knowing the textbook doesn't mean you are going to ace his tests. As others have said, the tests are quite tricky. And the homework will take you hours, but it's only worth 5 points! Same with the labs!
im in his class right now and i love this teacher. im learning more than ive ever pushed myself too. He has an awesome sense of humor and hes a realllyy good guy
Woods is a great teacher. He is a difficult teacher, but you come out of the class prepared for your next classes. If you follow directions, listen to his pointers, and study you will do great! I would take more classes with him if I could. He cares about what he teaches, and wants his students to understand it.
Look, if I'm competing for nursing school I want a teacher who is fair & organized, but pushes me to learn. Yes you work HARD, but as others said, Woods really cares that his students do well, he gives plenty of material to help, and I learned more here than any class I've taken. Want a class that gives easy A's, you'll pay for it in micro and A&P.
I took him for intro biology and general chem 1. If you want an easy A, dont take woods. But he knows his material very well and is a very great teacher. Read the textbook&study lectures you will do great. He just makes you work for the A. Overall, He is awesome. I moved so i dont go to pierce anymore, but i wish i had him as my organic chem teacher
DWoods was a nice guy, but he was an extremely hard teacher. Taking intro to chem isn't required for this class but it should be. I had never taken chem before so this class was really hard. You def. have to study to pass his tests and you MUST read the book. He teaches kind of all over and you MUST answer questions the way he wants it.
I found reading the textbook very useful. make sure to read all the articles and pay close attention to the videos and labs. He is a challenging teacher but has a really good sense of humor. made me laugh everyday. by far my favorite teacher.
He is not a good teacher. He teaches from power points very fast and there is not enough time to understand the information. He does not teach in a way that is easy to understand.I am very unhappy about his teaching abilities. If you read this before signing to this class, please choose another instructor. He does not know how to teach at all!
He's tough. Use pencil cause he is always changing his mind about the numbers for his sample questions. Its also better to read the chapter before class otherwise you have no clue what he is talking about. We studied a ton and still sucked and my lab partner has a masters in science already and was just taking this so she could go premed.
He is very tough and fast when going through his lectures. You almost need a decoder ring to figure out where his lecture notes match up to his notes. The exams are somewhat a mirror to his notes. He does not give a clear outline for his exams and sets you up for failure, I feel. So good luck.
Horrible instructor!Does not have teaching abilities!
horrible instructor. takes points away to prove a point. doesnt care whether you learn the material just cares that you do the work his way.
At first I really didn't like him. I thought he was arrogant and didn't care whether his students learned the material or not. However, after I started putting forth the extra effort (asking him to clarify my grades on labs, for example) I saw a different side of him. If you show him that you are interested and truly care, he notices and helps you.
He's tough. But, he is fair. You must be self motivated and have good attendance. The tests are heavily weighted but not completing the homework & labs will impact your grade and ability to do well on tests. I recommend a recorder for lectures so you can listen again with the book to figure out what exactly he was talking about. And take notes!
Woods is a hard teacher only if you don't put in the effort. Woods expects his students to walk out of his class ready for courses like A&P and Microbiology. Woods curves all tests and allows students to drop their lowest test score. The material also goes into a of chemistry so take a chem lass before this one or you will be lost!!!
This class can be very difficult, but he gives you everything you need to succeed in the class & is open to answering any questions. I personally used the book a lot to fill in the gaps. You wont do well if you try to get pass by just sitting in lecture. You really have to study here :) He's a happy guy, and is into the material.
I would not recommend you to take him, he is not a good teacher at all. If you want to set yourself for failure go ahead. As much as you try, it seems like you're hard work doesn't pay off.. I did not enjoy any bit of this class. This class made me dislike biology, and I felt like he never seemed to care about students. DON'T TAKE HIM I ADVISE U
The man teaches extremely fast and if you ask a question he seems appauled that you don't understand everything. 4 left out in the class of a 14. He will be covering chapter 4 material while you are prepping for chapter 3 exams.
I think these people are confusing the difficulty of Biology itself, not the teacher. This is the first quarter he has had lecture videos and many other valuable resources. So, if you're contemplating taking his class: As long as you study and know the material (using the resources that he gives you), you will do fine.
This class was a challenge for me, but Woods is an engaging instructor. He really knows his stuff, and he was always willing to answer my questions after class. You cant rely on just coming to lectures to pass the class. This course requires you to put in that extra effort and time to study. If you are dedicated, you will do great.
This class is challenging. He is a good instructor but by the fourth week we only went in once a week which made it hard. Make sure you watch the lecture videos and do the suggested homework. As long as you put an effort into it you will do fine. It would be a good idea to take the prep class right before this class.
The subject itself may be challenging but the professor made it so that it would be easily understood. We were provided lecture videos, lecture notes and in class lectures. The lecture videos were very helpful. You don't even need to read the textbook. Its easy to get an A+ as long as you take the time to study. The class is time consuming, not hard.
People are confusing the difficulty of the subject matter and the difficulty of the class. Woods does teach alot in class, but he has all lectures extended and rewatchable online, as well as notes and power points. The class itself is hard, but it is a well rounded BIO class. He really knows what he is teaching, and gives you every chance to succeed
If you rely on learning the material in class you can forget it BUT if you use his online lectures you will have everything you need to know for the exam. I would watch his lectures and take notes off of them and I had no trouble-if you pay attention he tells you exactly what you need to know. Also be sure and do all the prelabs! Easy points :)
He makes you write everything on the prelab instructions, word for word, underlined for underlined, etc, and he bolds and underlines at least HALF of the page pointlessly. His videos are pretty bad because he goes so off topic. Actual in class lecture: Hardly helpful at all. He's terrible at explaining things. His teaching is overall horrible.
Exams are based off his Powerpoints and labs. Multiple choice portion of exams are A-E, not A-D. Pretty tricky if you don't know your facts. Take notes off his pp videos. He can be corny, but that's better than a grumpy instructor. I LEARNED so much in his class. Well prepared now for bio 241 & 242 A & P thanks to Don Woods. Grades on a curve.
The worst teacher. No body ever knows what needs to be turned in or not. He encourages you to quit. We have 4 ppl left. Very unhelpful. I asked him to check my work before I turned it in. He said I did it right then I got it back and it was all wrong when I asked him he told me it was my fault and next time I should ask him for help. what?!
He is a hard teacher to get use to although he really does know his stuff. The tests are a little overwhelming but if you take his advice and watch all the videos he posts multiple times and actually put in work to the class you will do fine. We were a hybrid course so half online half in class which made it interesting.
Although Woods is friendly and willing to help, this class is very hard to follow. All of the material is done through him filming himself doing power points. The tests are worded very confusingly and unlike what you learn in the videos. I expected him to be rude when I came into this class based on the rumors i've heard, but he's actually funny.
worst teacher ever. he knows the information but isn't able to teach. this should not be his profession. you will gain close to nothing from this course because he is so disorganized and uninterested in you actually learning the information.
Not helpful at all. Makes you feel like an idiot if you ask any questions. Does no slow down ever and refuses to do so. Does not explain things in his lectures, just tells you to go home and watch the video.
One of the factors that needs to be included in rating this instructor is that biology/chemistry are already difficult subject to learn; however, he doesn't make it any easier at all. All the learning is done online through his recorded videos. If you can learn through online and just show up for labs, this is the class for you!
He is so confusing and never bother attending to students questions. He just talk and talk not knowing that the class is already at a lost. One of the worst if not the worst I had in my entire life.
I have just started this class and already I feel like I'm lost. I understand the material but not my teacher. He will deduct a point for almost anything and instead of helping you he expects you to learn from trial and error. Even if you get the answers right he will deduct points if its not short and sweet enough for him.
He is a tough teacher, requires prelabs to be written out in detail. I took the hybrid class and his videos are terrible. Dogs barking, he laughs A LOT at everything and in class generally wears track pants and a hat. Not somebody I took serious based on appearance. He is not very approachable and acts like its an inconvenience to ask questions.
Tough class but you have printable lecture notes, handouts, a million videos to watch as many times as you need, a great textbook +OWL, you can email him and ask questions in class. He provides so many resources. If you fail this class, it's you. It was so difficult but I'm breezing through Chem 131 now because of how much I learned from Woods.
Really difficult if you take this class as a hybrid.
Tough grader, deducts points even if you got it right. Hybrid class, lectures were on video where he laughs and his dogs bark and he gets side tracked easy. Does not give good reviews for test or midterms, or none at all. Does not explain anything, even when you get something wrong on homework or a test.
I did not understand his teaching or class subject. He made me feel stupid for asking questions and did not want to help. He rambled so much in class that I think he was on drugs. (He did talk about his painkillers a lot) He also would make fun of other students for mistakes they made. Very hard to understand and get help from him.
He should be added to the list of wanted terrorists!! Do teachers have to take a class one how to be that horrible? He is of no help... Says he "dumbed" it down... More like rambles on about nothing and doesn't make a clear point when speaking. You can email him to ask questions.... But his response is rude and makes you feel even worse for asking.
He required way too much unnecessary work. He was an extremely hard grader and his assignments were never ending. He made inappropriate jokes as well. He thinks that because his class is hard that it makes him a good teacher but it doesn't, it's just a bunch of hoops to jump through. Maybe used the textbook twice, tests are all on powerpoints!
Keep in mind this is a hybrid class. It is expected of you to watch the lectures online. In class he will go over main points and accept questions from students. Very analytic questions in his tests. He is a cool professor and will help if you ask. Not a professor for lazy-not-so-bright-students.
Worst teacher I have ever had. The tests have nothing to do with what he talks about in class. Expects you to spend hours a week watching youtube videos instead of actually teaching. Does not help. Grades you down for every reason. He is a real stickler on every assignment.
The lectures are not fun. He does make you feel stupid if you ask questions. The tests are worded in a confusing manner. IT is a hard class. Be prepared to work hard.
Can be confusing about what assignments are due Lots of extra credit opportunities Quiz everyday (About 15 questions each and you view each question for only 45 seconds) Makes you print out pre-lab procedures online and you must handwrite it all (can be 1-3 pages long, graded) Sometimes makes you feel/look dumb wh asking questions
If you want to learn in order to understand, take him. If you put in the effort, you'll do well in this class. Isn't a class for lazy people who just want an easy A. He makes you work for it. Has videos online for you to watch.I encourage you guys to watch each video at least twice. LOTS of extra credits (e.g. hw, quizes, exams, labs).
From the beginning of class everything that is expected of you is made clear. You know what's due when, when tests are. Labs are fun and clear. Tests are graded tough. Short quizzes almost every day with opportunity for extra credit. Most lectures are online-hybrid class. He will help you if you ask, but not a class for the lazy. Put in the time.
Great professor! If you're going to take Bio 160 he's the professor to take.
Wonderful professor! He is very good at what he does and hilarious. I enjoyed this class and really loved the fact that it was a hybrid. If you are looking to just glide by and not have to work then he is NOT the professor for you and you will fail the class.
He is constantly belittling students, making students cry, offers no help or clarity. Online lectures are unclear and all over the place. Lots of quiz/tests with awful grading or clarification. Lots of complaints to school about this professor. He is mean, short tempered and will talk down to you any chance he gets.
I don't know why so many students don't like him. I loved this class. If you don't understand his sense of humor, you may think he's rude, but he's not. STAY AFTER CLASS if you have questions! He's WAY more helpful after class than if you ask during class. He is tough because this is a class for science majors. He has to prepare you 4 tough classes
All lectures are online videos, boring, unclear, and not helpful at all. Type of professor to say," It's in the syllabus." Videos are about 10-15 minutes long and there are 7 you need to watch a week; he recommends going through the videos at LEAST 3 times and it was unrealistic, it was hard even going through them ONCE! Don't take this class.
Woods comes off very abrasive, and he is, until he decides if you are actually interested in the material or just want a good grade. If you stay after class and ask legitimate questions he will answer you and lighten up. If you are looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. I hated the class, but he prepared me for what was coming in future classes.
I thought he would be tough, but I got a 4.0. Watch the lectures, study and anyone with a normal intelligence should do fine. He gives so much extra credit and grades his tests on a curve I don't know how anyone doesn't do well that takes the time to do the work. Pay attention to the questions on quizzes and HW, you will see them again on test.
General Biology taught by Professor Woods was tough. He warns you that, "This will be the hardest college class you've ever taken," and he wasn't lying. As long as you pay attention to the videos, read the book as needed, and turn in assignments, you'll be fine. Everything matters-even the extra videos he has you watch (Mad Cow, AIDS, etc.)
Best teacher I have had at Pierce so far Wants his students to pass
I think Professor Woods was awesome! You HAVE to study hard in this class to get a good grade. His lectures are online, so if you felt like you missed something, you can go back and listen again for studying.
I felt he was a tough teacher you do have to study hard and be active in the class to get a good grade. He has a lot of knowledge that he shares with in a short amount of time. I learned a lot and he helped me think out of the box.
I think that often science professors get a bad wrap simply because the students aren't used to having to study for classes. With other classes (ie. English, Art, etc.), you really don't need to study if you don't want to. This class really wasn't that hard, he's a great Prof and is generous with extra credit. I'd definitely recommend.
Woods is possibly the rudest professor I've had. Students would ask a question and he'd give snarky answers implying they should have known the answers already. He makes you feel stupid so no one would ask questions unless they were positive no one else knew the answer either. He openly laughed at students when they asked questions. Never take him!
Professor Woods will make you work hard on his class. If you work hard on his class you will get a huge reward since lots of his lecture is helpful to your further bio classes. He gives you lots extra points. Very organized and clear criterias for everything.
He is tough and will tell you how many will fail his class. He is belittling to students of all classes, he will not answer your questions when asked, he thinks he is funny when he is very inappropriate. Lab is supposed to be enjoyable, he makes it not.
Woods is an instructor that you either like or don't. Your mileage may vary depending on what type of instruction you like or need, as most of his classes tends to be an Hybrid in class /online class and which requires you have to do most the learning of the material by (watching his videos and taking notes) on your own time.
He's very specific and clear about what he wants. Don't let him scare you away on the first day. it's your grade, own it.
Mr. Woods is an awesome teacher. His class is hard but he also tells you that in the beggining. He tells you what is expected of you and doesn't take anything less. He gives you tons of useful material and does the best he can to narrow it down to specifics! I would def. take another class from him.
The beginning of his class he starts off with telling you this class is very hard but if you study hard you'll pass. Not true. I've never studied so much for a class in my life, I'm 34. All his lectures are online which is fine because you can continue to watch them over and over again. But his lectures online don't make sense.
His teaching is very confusing. If you ask questions he will confuse you even more. All lectures are online, so your class time is spent taking multiple tests and lab. You will have hours of homework, which you'll have to learn yourself. He may need to have a different profession.
He is the worst individual and teacher ever to teach. It is your rights to complain about him if he belittled you, never answers your questions, bully's you are make you feel not important. He is the worst educator that pierce college has. Remember this is your education not his so don't feel you have to put up with him.
Worst ever. Never answers questions asked, thinks he's funny but is very inappropriate especially to women. Thinks all blondes are stupid and where you sit in lab your labeled. Thinks all running start kids are retarded his words not mine.
I think people who are saying he is rude and makes unnecessary jokes are just sensitive. I am a girl, in running start, and blond... he has never belittled me and I found his sarcasm funny and sort of comforting.
Woods made you feel dumb asking any question, I asked a question at the beginning of his quarter and never asked one again. He is very rude, and a pretty tough grader along with almost no feedback(unless it was pre quizzes. VERY belittling, will never be taking him again.
He is definitely a tough teacher. But you WILL learn the material if you study. Don Woods is hilarious. He goes over EVERY thing before an assignment. He even answers the questions on the assignments. You just have to listen. He will not answer questions after the fact because he just answered them! I am blond, a woman and never has he been rude.
Tough class? Yes. Hard to get a good grade? Absolutely not. This class is definitely not an easy A; however, if you put in the time, you should be able to earn a decent grade. He gives us a lot of opportunities to get extra credit. Professor Woods is tough, but don't let that intimidate you. He is very knowledgeable.
Woods was one of the hardest teachers that I have ever had. BUT- it was one of the most rewarding classes. He definitely made sure you APPLIED your knowledge. Be ready to put in A LOT of time. He had an SI for this course and she was EXTREMELY helpful - I recommend going as much as possible. Overall, I liked him, he was helpful when I asked.
Woods is that Prof where he has been teaching forever so all this is so repetitive to him that when you go to ask a question he looks at you like you're dumb. Yes he goes over everything after the quiz, but if you miss something and try to ask him later about it he won't answer because he already answered it. Lecture heavy so take good notes!
Worst professor I have ever had. Doesn't care about the students and embarrasses you when you have questions. I have tried getting help from him as well as SI. No help was given and his tests consist of 30 ish questions that are majority of your grade. When the final came around he said "expect for your grade to drop a whole letter"!! TERRIBLE.
Definitely learned a ton in this class. He makes you work for your grade, but he has tons of extra credit opportunities. Lectures were online but if you use his note taking method you will do great. He had a dry sense of humor but it made me laugh. Overall good teacher, although many people won't agree with me. I just love biology is all.
If you're looking for an easy A, steer away. Like another comment, you have to work hard to get your grade. You also need to pay attention to what he says during lab and class because I find them helpful on lab write ups, pre labs, and the exams. Lowest exam gets dropped. He makes it challenging but makes me work harder, would take again.
Textbook not required. I'm not sure why so many people are bashing Woods. Between the quizzes (which are predominately homework questions) and the PowerPoints' he literally tells you everything that is going to be on the test. Do however prepare yourself to study a sold 10+ hours/wk for the exams.
Easily the worst teacher I have ever had. Belittling. Condescending. Laughs when questions are asked. Class is always canceled so you have to teach yourself. Waste of money. Tries to find something wrong just to critique and be rude. Useless. Lectures never make sense and he won't explain things a different way when someone doesn't understand.
He does not listen to his students especially when they do not understand the lecture. When you ask for help he just will reiterate what he has already said. Does not offer a different avenue or seem to understand that everyone learns differently. Let alone that we are adults and do not appreciate being talked down too. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Worst teacher I ever had. His video notes don't make any sense and when you try to ask questions about the notes he just tells you that it is covered in the video. He doesn't let you use the chapter tests questions to study for the final, the only way you are able to study off of questions is from the 4 homework assignments.
THIS IS YOUR WARNING, DONT TAKE HIM.. Every time you meet he gives quizzes/tests. Does ZERO teaching. I get it, it's a hybrid class, but he answers questions very vaguely and rudely! He constantly complains about his past classes and is SO quiet when teaching. I'm a good student and I tend to give professors the benefit of the doubt but NOT WOODS.
The worst teacher that I have had. He belittles his students and doesn't offer any clarity. His test are next level. He teaches more microbiology and cellular biology. Its far from General. He starts off the class with boasting that his class is the hardest thing you will take. Its miserable, I dropped another class to focus on his and have a 2.2.
Tough grader, be prepared to find other resources to learn the material. He belittles his students expecting them to know everything in a 100 level class. He talks trash about his past classes,It got to the point no one would even answer his questions or ask them because he would make you fell so stupid for your answer or for the questions you ask
He is an intelligent, funny, and good person. Be prepared however, his tests will mostly not be about the lectures but instead the extra 20 articles he gives you to read and the labs. You get marked down for any small detail on the labs. Half the class drops by 2nd week and people run out crying from stress. Test questions worded horribly.
I am usually very good with biology but this classes disappoints me. Most of the class is spent listening to side stories and being confused on what hes teaching. Ask him a question and he either makes you feel stupid for asking or goes around a loop of things you did not ask him. Exams are never what we study. Do not take his class, you will fail
Professor Woods was a great professor. I had him for a hybrid class, and he taught very well. He is organized and will tell you what he expects from an assignment clearly. Understand the lectures very well and youll do good on exams. We had five unit exams and a final. I learned a lot from his class.
Probably the best teacher I have ever had, you really need to focus on his material and watch his lectures numerous times. The point of his class is to prepare students for harder classes such as micro and A&P, which he does a great job at. One of the funniest and smartest professors at Pierce. Be ready to learn from and interpret a lot of material
Mr. Woods is a great professor. His style of teaching or lecturing challenges you to study harder and earn every point on a test. Make sure to listen to his videos on canvas multiple times to fully grasp the concepts. Only negative thing is that he doesn't completely answer some questions. All in all, he's great! I'll take this class again
Very condescending if you ask questions, regardless of how valid they may be. He will email you a reply with the same cut/paste answer on how we wants you to learn the "Logic of multiple choice exams".
The description box lack adjectives. Don is by far the the most futile. Don't ask absurd questions, he gives 'copy and paste' answers, responds 3-5 days after, reminds you that "90% of people fail this class", unprepared, no extra cred. opportunity. He seems passionate about science, yes, but not about teaching. It's unfortunate. Do not take.
He is the worst teacher I have ever meet in my whole entire life of 21 years. He is very hard to get in touch with, I have sent him 2-3 messages but got no replies whatsoever. But he does say something when I comment on the announcement he made don't reply here, this was sent to the class. I mean what the hack? Yh don't take his class for credit.
Worst professor I have ever taken. Takes forever to respond, rude, is not helpful, very harsh grader. Do yourself a favor and dont take this class. I am truly disappointed in this class and how the class is set up. Will not help you out and doesnt do exceptions. Not extra credit.
Very tough grader. He missed some zoom meetings by a couple of hours and he doesn't allow any late work. Labs were very confusing due to wording and its impossible to get in touch with him. Lecture videos dont go in much depth and the zoom meetings are the same material as the lecture, it's just live. Would not take his classes again.
He is an awful professor. When you go to select any class Bio/Chem and Don Woods is an option. DO NOT SELECT. He went to the extent on several occasions to let his student know via zoom that he wants to kill himself when he grades our work. He belittles his students and will not assist you if you have questions. He is textbook example of horrible.
Although I passed Mr. Woods class it was.... it was an experience. He seemed very passionate about the topic of science. His love for science was so inspiring but his attitude was not it. Along with Mr. Woods attitude he would come extremely late to the Zoom meetings that were being held. He was utterly rude and his tone always sounded annoyed.
He is RUDE! Any question that you ask, he makes you sound DUMB. Not only that, he is a HORRIBLE grader. You can't ever please Woods. He asked me to re-submit something after the due date then I got an F and he claimed he didn't ask me to resubmit, WHEN I had proof. He is super into himself and will not care about you. Do not waste your time...
I took Bio160 with a lab. He does not give clear instructions in the lab. Expects us to know exactly what happened in the lab even though we did not do it. Has zoom meeting that are optional but then tells us that we will fail his class if we do not attend. Meetings are around 3 hours long and talks about himself for most of it. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!
Im about to withdraw, if youre an active duty soldier do not take this class. His grading, the testing time and everything in between is horrific. Hes the worst teacher Ive ever had the displeasure of being taught by.
WORSE TEACHER EVER! He grades really hard. He gives you instructions on how to do the lab but when he grades them he will give you a 1 or 2 but you do exactly what it says to do. He doesn't give any chances. You will most likely fail because he sucks at explaining things. I wish I knew about this website before I picked him. PICK SOMEONE ELSE!
Vague instructions that are hard to follow and very strict grading criteria. During Zoom meetings, he goes off on tangents and talks about his life rather than the material. Our first zoom meeting took 2 hours to get through 4 slides because he was talking about his dogs, his van, and who he knows on the oceanside. You'll learn more on your own.
He's a hard grader and makes you work for you grade. Pay attention to the directions in labs and the zoom calls and you'll be fine.
I have earned over 90 credits at 4 different universities. He is by far the most difficult professor I have ever taken. Very vague instructions but exceptionally strict grading. He has non-mandatory zoom meetings, but you need to attend to do well. Terrible at responding to emails and messages. DO NOT take his class find another professor
Dont take this class. Hes a condescending professor that sets his students up for failure.
This man is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. When a student asks a question, he bullys them because "the answer is obvious." He displays student's wrong answers during lectures to make examples out of how poorly they did. His labs have 0 instructions, but he grades them very strictly. He's far too arrogant for how poorly he teaches.
If I could give a rating lower than 0, I would, sadly I have to give him a 1. Crosses out answers with no explanation of why theyre wrong. Almost completely inaccessible outside of class. Demeaning towards students when asked questions. Tough grader but no feedback. Would never take again, and will never recommend. Be prepared to fail.
class VERY difficult ¬hing taught in lectures made sense, he would always go off topic and would say to not ask questions wasting his time or to write anything in the comments on assign submissions. He wouldn't communicate well and his feedback was harsh. the amount of work worth only 3 points for online labs.&he wants to use honorlock for exams
He treats you like you're stupid and that he is above you. I don't think he realizes that this is a community college and there are a variety of people taking his class. There is very little support from him. If you think you finally understand things, expect below-average grades.
Worst teacher ever, I ended up dropping this class half way and taking another. The first 30 mins of every zoom was him yelling at us about how we were doing things wrong. Lecture material and homework didn't match the quizzes. Refused to meet outside of his 1 zoom class, had no SI to help. I had ADS accommodations and he refused to honor them.
My experience with him affected my mental health, he was condescending and expected us to be some sort of geniuses. The class was disorganised and he made it seem like the zoom meetings were optional when they actually were more than just highly encouraged. Dont pick him most of us dropped his class.
