I picked his class because all the other Bio classes were full.So I had to take the Saturday morning class. I didn't know what to expect from him or who he was. But I've got to tell you his class was fun and easy. A PLEASENT surprise.He really loves Biology and got me interested in it too!!! Highly recommend!!!

He knows his material and gives plenty of extra credit to help your grade on quizzes and tests. All of his test are memorization, so use the extra credit as much as possible. One down side, there were too many days missed that I felt could go to classwork..

I've had many great instructors at Harper, but Don stands out as one of the best. He keeps the class interesting & fun. Rather than homework he gives 'extra credit'. Great psychological tool, gets people learning without it being 'work'. I actually looked forward to class each week. Thank you, Don, for a great experience.

Mr. B. is an excellent teacher. He is laid back and he makes this subject interesting. If you do not have the interest in science but you need credits, than take any course that is being taught by Mr. B.

Ok, here is the real truth. Professor B. is the best teacher in the school. Very funny guy. Tests are easy. Dont buy the book, use only his binder. He gives like 2000 points in extra credit, so if you really dont do well on the tests you still pass with a B or C. All of the questions are from his lectures, attend, listen and you will get an A+

Easiest teacher ever. 172 out of 500 pts. are extra credit. SO if you need a science credit WITHOUT a lab this is the class. The quizzes and test are not easy, but the extra credit makes up for it. OH ONE MORE THING DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. You have to buy a binder that they sell at the college text book store across the street. It is only $20.

I took his Biology Online class. He's a very cool teacher. He gives TONS of extra credit, which is a must in order to pass the class. The quizzes were fairly easy. (Midterm and Final is hard) One of the coolest teachers I've had. Very knowledgeable.

He makes you buy his text book- which is super cheap. He doesn't teach out of any other book but his. The only problem is that the notebook is a little out of order, I felt like we would skip around all the time. Also- the syllabus has a different text book page numbers in it- so it takes some work to follow along. He gives so much extra credit!!!

Bio-101 whith him is a very easy class, just enroll his class and follow his notes. you will be fine. 'A's and 'B's are within easy reach.

Easy class just 4 quizzes (50 each), a midterm (200), and a final not comprehensive (200). He gives lots of extra credit and his lectures are interesting. He is so easy and funny. He doesn't use the textbook, but makes you buy this 20$ binder full of the notes. Which is cheaper than the book, and very helpful! The material is so easy. You get quizzes, and no hw. Everything is extra credit, which are basically just crossword puzzles with the notes from the binder. No way you can fail the class,

Like i was saying, you can't fail the class. The midterm and finals are mostly from all of the notes, just make sure to read! Most questions off the quizzes go on the next quiz, midterm, and final! Very easy and he's so fun, he loves LOVES to teach this class. And he's very very interesting take him!

No textbook, just buy the $30 guide he makes. LOADS of extra credit if you want to do it. I only did half the extra credit and got over 100%. He is very entertaining at times such as when he tells stories, often based on personal experience or interesting knowledge. You learn a lot more than you realize just because some stuff actually sticks.

Was afraid to take BIO after graduating from college over 20 years ago but Mr B. made it a breeze for me. Got an A+ in his class which I have never ever gotten for a Science class. TAKE THIS CLASS. Great guy, great class! Easy. All you have to do is go. Attendance is not mandatory, but the tests are on the lectures, so be there. Tests are hard, but if you listen, you'll pass. He gave you the chance to have a good great at the end of the semester with all the extra credit he gives, i went from an F to a B. Definitely an easy A, but the course curriculum has little to no actual facts. If you're looking for actual relevant scientific data, you're better off getting it from somewhere else. While i'm sure he means well, BIO with Baumgartner isn't actual Biology, it's BIO according to Baumgartner, (NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE SAME THING!!!)

well, there is noway you can fail his class. i had pretty but all D's and F's in my quizes and tests and still received a C in this class. He knows what he's talking about, he knows how to get through to you. Do exactly what he says & you can even get As! Slack and you can catch up with the heap of extra credit assignments he gives you. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT. VERY EASY CLASS TO PASS. HE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING VERY WELL.

His course is out of 600 points, 400 of which are the mid-term and final. The other 200 come from 4 quizes. He offers 260+ points of extra credit so this class is an easy A if you need Bio. As for him, he is a very good teacher objectively. He isn't, however, approachable or empathetic to problems in your life. Understandable because of the credit.

Awsome teacher, wish he taught more classes. The class was pretty easy. Lots of extra credit so there is no way for you to fail. Advise you take him.

Really intelligent and knows a lot about biology and science in general. It is really easy to do well or bad in this class depending on effort. The material isn't hard at all so if you go to class and do some of the extra credit he offers(he gives you tons of oppurtunities) then you'll get a good grade easily.

The class was very interesting. The teacher made the subject appealing to the students. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS and you will get a good grade and go to the classes a lot of the information that is on the test and quizzes he talk's about.

Very great teacher he knows his stuffs, has many examples that make you love biology. exams are not easy but, there are extra credit available for every one. I think you just get the grade you want and work for in this class

Funny guy.

I took the blended online class. You do not need the $150 text book buy the instructor note book from the college text book store for $35. All the quizes are online open book the final and midterm do not allow notes or the book. There is a ton of extra credit that will bump your grade even if you fail the final and midterm you can still get an A.

I took his blended class over the spring semester. Very easy class as long as you read your notes, you will be fine. He does not require the textbook, he gives you a hand out which is everything you need for the quizzes and tests. TONS of extra credit. If you read the notes and study for the tests, you are golden. He is an amazing teacher. He gives so much extra credit that if you get less than an A in his class you are just lazy. He gives plenty of opportunities to succeed while also being a really funny guy!

This Prof. was very enthusiastic about the material. Which made me enthusiastic about the material. There is tons of extra credit, but you need to be motivated to do it. You also need to have some interest in biology. Duh. But, the Prof. is Legit.

Great Professor and great class for someone in need of biology credit. No book required, has his own notes published. I survived even without those. Took blended course and textbook was not required as he wrote his own version. Tons of extra credit opportunities. Study notes for tests! Doesn't teach for the money and is genuinely enthusiastic and down to earth. Although attendance not required it makes the tests a lot easier because of his reviews. Overall great teacher.

Took his Blended online/lecture course over the summer. A lot of material in a short period of time. But he is a great teacher - very enthusiastic, interesting to listen to, teaches because he loves it - he gets you interested in the subject (which I was not!). As everyone says, don't buy the text. I took the summer blended (half online) course. Don't buy the textbook. Don't buy his notes either. Just print out the notes he posts online each week. Easiest class I've ever taken. If you're taking the class by choice, you're probably better off with a full lecture course. Online course means more reading and fewer interesting lectures.

He was a very nice teacher. The class is easy enough because he explains the concepts a lot and even has his own textbook just for this class, which is used a lot and was very helpful. If you want a challenging, yet relatively worry-free Biology class, take it with him!

A great teacher if you like open studying, not stuck-in-a-rut busy work. Some people can just read and understand and test wall on a subject. Some need the droll homework. If you need to get a science credit done take this class, you will not fail as long as you do all the extra credit. the tests are hard mainly because the online notes are extremely long and confusing. he's a nice guy but repeats himself a lot and somehow found enough to talk about for 2 hours every week and it was very very boring.

Prof Donald was a Great Prof! Thank Goodness for ALL the extra credit that he offered because with each test I took my test grades lowered each time. It was a lot of knowledge to know but I know that he is passionate about his work and will help you if you ask! I give him a thumbs up and would recommend him as a teacher. pay Attention.

You can tell right away that he is super interested in Bio and loves the field. The class is long but only once a week so it was not to bad. He gave us a couple days off so that was nice. Professor Baumgartner is one of the best at Harper College. He sets up the course for students to succeed. The tests are not easy except the first quiz so just study and be serious until the final. Mr. Baumgartner is on of the best instructors I've ever had. Biology is very hard for me but he made it seem interesting and fun. Don't get me wrong it's a very hard class, but as long as you try hard and do all the extra credit you will get the grade you deserve. Mr. Baumgartner also seems to love his job and is very approachable.

Dr. B is the BOMB! I cannot say enough about this teacher. Passionate, Inspirational, and HILARIOUS! If you're a borderline student, you'd have to TRY to fail this class. He's very passionate about bio and he was absolutely terrific. He cracks jokes here and there and is incredibly helpful. Also give loads of extra credit. Best teacher I've had so far at Harper. He is very interesting and helps ease the process of getting to know one another in class. If you miss class, make sure you read the lecture notes. With the EC he gives there is no way you can fail. It's really up to you whether you pass or not. Would take this class again!

Quizzes are kind of difficult. Exam questions are mostly from quizzes. He gives lots of extra credits. It is very hard to get grade lower than B. Do not buy book!

Every single test and quiz was based on the class lecture notes, if you study over them you'll easily get a B. He also offers a great amount of extra credit so if you're struggling your grade won't suffer. It was pretty interesting for a mostly online class! i would definitely take him again.

Take this teacher! Grade is all testing & plenty of extra credit. Book not needed, all from notes & lectures. Did 70% of the extra credit & got 99.8% in the class. Literally the easiest class I have ever taken. I took his class to meet a science requirement for transferring but you would literally need to put an effort in to fail his class. Out of 600 points for the class he offers around 175 points of easy EC. He seems like a great, intelligent guy and I loved his lectures, but boy, that class was easy.

professor Baumgartner is great. If you have to take a biology course take it with him, his quizzes and test are based on the notes. Quizzes and tests are of medium difficulty impossible to fail the class. would recommend.

Baumgartner is a great professor, overall very easy going. I'd suggest printing out his lecture notes from blackboard and highlighting what he goes over rather than trying to write down a bunch of notes. Then just review what you highlighted before the test. If you don't do too well on tests he gives a ton of extra credit so you'll be fine.

Mr. Baumgartner is super nice and interesting person. I took his blended class which only have 5 class meetings, so I asked his permission to sit it in his other classes. His lectures is very interesting, and worth sitting there to listen. He offers lots of extra credits and I completed all of them to secure an A. Also, no way to fail.

If you are looking for an easy A, be sure to take this guy! before the final I had 70 points of extra credit and, if I went to museums, I could have had an addition 60ish!! Be sure to study his slides and notes, if you do, you'll be fine!

I had Biology 101 Blended with Professor Baumgartner. He is an amazing Professor very knowledgeable. Attend his class, absorb the information, and just learn. He didn't use the book instead he had put together notes on his own time. He goes above and beyond to help, and is an amazing Professor!

He offers A LOT of extra credit so much that it is realistically possible to get an A in the class without getting an A on the mid term or final. His lectures are fantastic and he does his best to keep you interested while he is talking. Quizzes and tests are heavily based off lectures and attendance doesn't count as a grade but it helps.

Professor Baumgartner was by far the best college professor I've had to date (and I've taken a lot of classes). He's friendly, humorous, and very personable. You genuinely have to try to fail his class. He does his best to set you up for success. I have always been bad at attendance, and he made it very easy to want to show up. Great teacher.

He's the type of teacher that whatever he teaches you actually understand and learn, his tests are always what he goes over so there's no surprises there which is awsome, he's a teacher that wants his students to pass, get good grade and learn, he is also funny which is always a plus, I really recommend you take his class

My respect to this Professor, honestly he has such a way with teaching. I like his method because he offers two ways both visual and wording. He doesn't give hw and answers all of your questions. I really recommend Professor Baumgartner. He explains how the class will be the entire semester and he truly does stick to that schedule. Just took his BIO101 Blended course. Great professor, passionate about what he teaches and provides endless resources/information. No book required. Only solid graded on tests/online quizzes, no homework. In a 600 pt class he gave OVER 100 pts in EXTRA CREDIT. He knows the tests are hard. He pretty much sets you to pass. TAKE HIM. HES THE BEST.

Took his blended class. Class was basically the first day, three lectures, and two exams. Super easy, tons and tons of extra credit. Online open book quizes. NO reason to not get at least a B in the class. To be honest, not much learning was done but a passing grade was achieved.

This is the 1st time I've made a review, that's how much I enjoyed him. Expectations are clear. Plenty of EC opportunity. Cares about students but simultaneously understands that 15% of the class actually wants to be in a BIO. He is pretty funny and unique. Says "I'm not kidding" after people laugh at his jokes. Just took this class over the summer and he was beyond amazing. He is hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. He does q&a's every class and those were always interesting! Was not looking forward to taking a summer class but Mr. Baumgartner was fantastic! Your grade is only based on two tests and four quizzes but the amount of extra credit he gives out makes it impossible not to pass this class. Definitely recommend taking BIO with him.

This man is the best professor I've ever taken. He gave so much in extra credit that you could literally go up a grade. As for the exams, very easy. I never opened my notes even once, and I got an A. I would recommend everyone to take him if you're doing this course for the sake of credit only.

Great professor, I took his course online and its 100% up to YOU to study for the material but he gives you tons of notes. The quizzes aren't too hard and count for 1/3 of your grade, the other 2/3 is your midterm and final, both of which were tougher but not horrible. He gives a TON of easy extra credit to boost your grade and is very approachable

He is obviously very pro-Evolution and Big Bang, and seems to be a bit less respectful of other beliefs (i.e. religious beliefs). But apart from that, he is one of the best teachers I've had. He is very interesting and informative. He allows you lots of opportunity for extra credit because and is extremely with expectations.

Biology in general is difficult and he really helps you get through it. All of the points are based off of 4 quizzes, a midterm, and 2 finals for 600 points. I hate Biology and its my worst subject and this professor helped me a lot. Any student like me that really struggles with Bio, take his class. He gives out so much extra credit so if you can't get a C or better then you really didn't care. Harper College or Science dept, make this teacher teach more classes! Loved this class. All of the answers to the tests are on the handouts he covers in his lectures, of which were generally entertaining. He also has SO MUCH extra credit opportunities. Easy A for sure. Pro tip: Some of the stuff Donald says is inaccurate however, so be aware and make sure to fact check for your own sake.

If you follow guides well from instructor and want to get a good grade, take him because he gives a lot of extra credits and benefits when you follow up well. That is all we want. With the amount of extra credit that he gives you, (they're fun crossword puzzles), you can basically not show up to class and still pass with at least a C. Lectures are super simple and his quizzes are straightforward. Just show up and you'll pass.

Wasn't a difficult class since most of the quizzes are based on the lecture notes and a little from slides but I suggest ONLY the lecture notes. Don't need the book. Every Wednesday he holds an hour of lecture for each topic due to the virus. Very helpful. He's a great professor and would definitely recommend!

Straight forward class with a lot of EC opportunities. Fairly easy too. Professor responds quickly to emails and has optional weekly reviews. He always sends out emails to remind students of upcoming quizzes and exams which is nice. Seems like he enjoys teaching this subject! No homework, only quizzes and exams. Definitely recommend him.

Professor Baumgartner goes above and beyond to ensure you will succeed in his class. I was never a fan of biology but I passed this class with an A.

By far the best professor I have taken in past two years, really cares about the students. Offers a lot of extra credit. I would highly recommend taking him, I was 5 points away from an A, and he saw that I was trying really hard to get an A. He ended up rounding it up for me.

12-week class with 4 quizzes, a midterm, and final exam. An 88% and above still counts as an A. All tests consist of multiple-choice and are open book. Time on tests is limited, one minute for every question. Tons of extra credit opportunities. Easy A class. Do your work and put in the effort, and you'll receive the outcome you want.

Professor Baumgartner truly cares about the subject he teaches. He was flexible, and his lectures were terrific. Professor Baumgartner allowed extra credit, which was fun to accomplish. I will take his class all over again. great professor.

So glad I took this class. It's a survey course so it's an overview of a lot of material and there is an opportunity to delve deeper if you like. Lots of extra credit opportunities - which were actually really fun to do! The quizzes and tests are all multiple-choice and open book - but you really need to know the material to get everything right.

Learned a lot good teacher

Professor Baumgartner was a pleasure to learn from. Instructions for the class are clearly laid out in the beginning and there are A LOT of opportunities for extra credit.

Donald is great! I took his in-person night class, and though 3 hours was long, he did make it pretty interesting the whole time, he makes things relatable and the quizzes and tests are straightforward. Questions on the quizzes are on the midterm and final. Lots of extra credit every single week. No homework but if you pay attention you will pass.

If biology is not your strongest subject, I would definitely recommend Donald! His grading only consists of 4 quizzes, one midterm, and final exams. He offers a lot of extra credit (over 150+ points) and they are very fun to do (going to different museums, walks, and crossword puzzles). A very easy course if you put in the effort to do well!

Highly recommend, great lectures, very well organised, clear, organised and very supportive environment. You can extra credit and you are well prepared for exams. I really enjoyed this class, want to do well, take it!
