If you don't stay on top of things you will get very behind!!
He doesn't give very many A's. He gives geography tests and he tells you there are things you won't know on the tests. Fair?! Not so much. But he does make sure you have a comprehansion of the subject, and he's a must take a Chapman.

Don Booth was an awesome professor. He has difficult exams at time, but he prepares you enough and challenges you to actaully learn instead of just coasting through his class. Extremely intelligent individual.
Tough if you fall behind. Will help you a lot if you go to his office hours before and after classes. Do the ex. credit papers he offers you, trust me they will help out in the end!
horrible, unclear and when you go to him you leave more confused, thinks everyone is as smart as him
Good teacher, will learn alot. If you don't like econ, might not like class. Geography test are annoying. to do well: really read his hand they are gold and go to his office hours almost everyday or until you understand it he will help until youget it
Booth is trying to teach not only his subject matter but he tries to teach worldly and social issues which I loved.... he does get into Geography, but he is right in saying that people should know where places in the world are!!
Tough class. Tests are hard and they make you think. You cant get by on memorization, you have to understand material. Go to office hours though!! and do extra credit. If you pay attention and try, you will learn a whole new way to look at economics!
Closed-minded and stubborn.
Very good professor. Makes sure you know how to apply, not just memorize. Map tests were fair. Tested not just on location, but on relevant leaders of countries, languages spoken. Intelligent and one of, if not the best in ASBE!
Worst Professor I've seen in twenty years.
A VERY hard professor who leads a class that is very confusing.. He is willing to help, but show up to class everyday for if you fall behind...its bad... Not the easiest prof, but a very intellgent prof
Dr. Booth is NOT stubborn and close-minded, IT IS YOU WHO'RE TOO SHALLOW AND SLOW TO DIGEST HIS BRILLIANT LECTURES!!! Dr. Booth is THE BEST PROF. at CHAPMAN, he combines texbook knowledge with real world experience!

Worst Teacher Ever. Does not care about a person improving. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Dr. Booth has some of the best lectures I've ever heard, but he's no pushover when it comes to exams. Study his notes, but be careful, since there is more to his exams than what he gives you.
Great teacher if you want to learn, you have to work at it, but the teacher is great. You will know economics when you are done. He knows economics, and has the ability to teach it to you.
Very stubborn and doesn't explain material very well. He moves his class and the material too fast.
He's a hard teacher but if you pay attention in class you'd do okay.
At first I hated it, but then I realized how fun microeconomics can be. I got a C in the class. His teaching is hard, but you walk away knowing so much about life and yourself. Price/Demand - 5 years later - I still remember it all :) Jennifer Landon '99
You need to pay attention in class.

He's a nice guy but his classes are hard. Lectures are convuluted but he does eventually get the point accross. Not much reading- although it would probably help.
Dr. Booth understands economics very well, so he expects you to also. The problem is that he doesn't really teach it. He will teach the basics, and expect you to figure out all of the complexities on your own. This is why the class is tough.
Doctor Booth gives interesting lectures. He is very knowledgable but on the flip side gives out biased and unfair course-work. His study guides may or may not pertain to his exams. I would not take this class again without some sort of prophetic resource.
Dr. Booth is great, interesting, but challenging. He presents the material in different way, that is more conducive to quick learners. It has totally prepared me for the rest of econ though.
unclear
Very difficult class to get an "A" in, but you will learn an incredible amount of information. Booth strives to get you to apply economic concepts to everyday life. Very interesting class but be sure to do the reading and pay attention or you'll
I am really struggling to learn in this class.I find he has a hard time clearly communicating with the students. When asked specific questions he tends to generalize and use stories, often unrelated to the question. He expects outside knowledge not taught.
He expects prior knowledge going into the course. He doesn't explain thingss too well during class but if you talk to him during his office hours he is more than eager to help you. I learned a lot but not necessarily what was tested.
i actually enjoyed dr. booth's class, although i have to admit you have to be in for a challenge. don't expect to breeze through this class. but if you want to seriously learn, despite the grades, you will.
RUN FOR THE HILLS! This teacher is hard and doesn't relent. His tests are incredibly sophisticated, so get ready to die of thurst when you get your first exam score. Personal stories tend to be **** and his pace of speech kill the lectures.
This teacher is wack. Don't even bother buying the book b/c he teaches his own economics, mainly graphs. I am an A student, studied really hard, outlined the chapters in the text, & got a C+. Definitely take it pass/no pass.
Dr. Booth is quite funny and brings up points you would never think about.
Very challenging. The geography tests are hard, his homework is impossible to do well on, and his tests are so-so.
Wow, this class is rediculous! I've studied relentless hours, outlined chapters and taken extensive notes in class and yet i still can't seem to pass a homework or quiz. STAY AWAY! ..you will not do well, even if you try. if you like graphs, he's your man,he's teaching Booth Economics, not Microecon
Crazy class... but you learn so much. It made me change my major to Economics and make Dr. Booth my advisor!! Its hard! Don't think you can come to a test without studying your ass off. In the end what you take away from the class is all worth it.
Dr. Booth is extremely knowledgeable, so know what you're saying on tests. Attend any events he'll give extra credit for, because you'll need it. I thought he was a good prof with an interesting sense of humor. Don't bother reading the book, instead write down every note/graph he puts on the board.
This is the most pretentious teacher on campus. He's been teaching here for 40 years so he thinks he's a genius. Try staying awake in his class while he leans on his desk and starts rambling about exotic vacations he's taken. He's a liar, he has so many great stories that you know they aren't true
Read what others have said. Don't bother with the book, copy the notes, do the extra credit, study the geography, go in for help during office hours, and you're good.
Booth is hard, bottom line. Don't buy the book if you're in his class though. He has an ego and his notes are -the best- whether you like it or not.
He makes you work hard for your grade. Attend every class and take good notes. Answer the test questions exactly the way he wants. Do any extra credit.
You don't need the book, however an atlas might come in handy. Geography tests in an econ class, but there's no way around it. Make sure your homework is perfect b/c it's basically a quiz. Teaching methods aren't great, but he's an intelligent guy. Once you understand the material, youre good to go.
Such a hard class. Good teacher but tests/hw/quiz depends solely on his lecture. Advice: go to his office hours one hour before a homework or class starts, he'll give you wonderful hints and answer.
I personally think he doesn't teach the material well, but he teachers random stuff just fine; therefore, you must study... and a lot because the tests are hard.
He is one of the worst at Chapman
worst professor i ever had
Booth doen't teach economics...he teaches Boothonomics. Throughout the course you'll learn such useful info as how to get the best deal when buying a car, how to keep your spouse from cheating on you, snake blood is an aphrodisiac, where the Don River is, and a little econ.
You've just got to love Booth... Great teacher, pay attention and you'll see why. Study, and when something's unclear ask for help. Don't just walk in his office saying "I don't understand" Geography tests help you're grade, do all extra credit available.
He's awful! You have to do twice as much in this class just to get by. He darts off into weird tangents and talks about everything EXCEPT econ. Avoid, Avoid!!
Very boring and hard class. His office hours are helpful though.
You wont find another prof like Booth at Chapman.
Nice guy. If you like essay tests and want to learn a lot take him. He is definately not easy.
Yes, this was one of my hardest classes ever. It also was one of the most enjoyable. Get to know Dr. Booth - his insights and connections are invaluable. Definately a long but great experience.
Great teacher, learn from the master.
Best class you will ever take at Chapman University. You listen to his lectures and you will learn a whole lot! :-)
MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR! Yes, he is a hard teacher, but he's the BEST teacher! He is so wise and the most helpful! Offers tons of extra credit and is always available to help you with ANYTHING! Take ANY classes from him that you can, you'll learn invaluable things from him!
BEST PROFESSOR AT CHAPMAN! He's awesome, I took him for like 7 semesters (if that's even possible) and he really made me Chapman experience worth all I paid for it. Take him!!! And use his office hours, get to know him, he has so much knowledge to share!
Booth is so funny and down to earth! You got to love him. He knows so much about the way the world works. The distinguishing feauture about Booth is that he doesn't just teach ECON, he teaches common knowledge that helpd so much in real like situations. He does go off on tangents some times, but you learn so much every time! He accomodates too
Dr. Booth is THE BEST TEACHER AT CHAPMAN. He teaches common sense, street smarts, and sophisticated economics. It seems that students want a lazy A and that is def. NOT happening in his classes. Attendance is tied to your success. Go into office hours for extra help. GO TO CLASS THE WEEK BEFORE AN EXAM. He explains EVERYTHING covered on it!!!!!!!
Truly the best teacher. Although the class is basically a lecture, he keeps us all on our toes and totally into the lesson--what's best is that he relates what we learn to the REAL WORLD. He is the typical old man professor, and will tell it like it is. BUT BE PREPARED TO WORK HARD, it is no slacker class. Also, you might need a tough skin if you can't handle him prodding you in front of the whole class...
There are a lot of ratings saying that Dr. Booth is the best. Well that USED to be true. He has been teaching for 50 years and as he approaches retirement he seems to be checking out. He is often sidetracked during lectures and then throws a pop quiz at LEAST once a week. Be prepared to spend a lot of time teaching yourself the subject.
He is the hardest professor I had at chapman. And the geography tests are extremely hard. But, at the end of the semester you become so relieved that it is over, and you actually know you learned a lot. And if you study A LOT, it is possible to get an A. But if you do all the work, it is hard to be below a B. Oh, and go to his office hours!!!
I learned more from this professor than any other on how to look at situations in the world.
His classes are interesting and his humor is crude -which I liked. If you pay attention to what he says and show that you understand his point of view, you will have no problems passing his written exams. He will help you out in his office as well. He focuses on concepts rather than random facts.
No Geo tests for 355 or 460! Class was awesome. He does not make you memorize a bunch of things that you will forget. He focuses on concepts. Tests are really tough. You have to invest a good amount of time in his office asking about test questions in order to ace his essay questions. I walked away from this class very satisfied.
sooo hard but soo good. he has been my fav teacher by far but he demands a lot from you. i learned so much from him. he completly d slapped prof doti in terms of being a good teacher. its a shame i didnt know about him earlier
Really hard professor to be honest, but you'll learn a lot. He gives some pretty hard geography tests, but if you study and pay attention to what he says they're manageable. Always give reasons with your answers, I lost points all semester for not being clear enough with my graphs. He's really knowledgeable though, so you'll definitely learn a lot.
He makes no sense in class giving examples of random stuff and then gives you a quiz at the end of class on stuff you never learned! His office hours aren't much better and he is UNBELIEVABLY boring.
I actually took him for both Econ 200 and 355. I extremely enjoyed his classes and would take him again. He is sweet, caring and will teach you a lot! However, you MUST pay attention to his lectures. Remember charts and graphs and study your geography!
He is very knowledgeable but you really have to pay attention. You really learn a lot, but he is hard. People who don't like him are people who do not put the time in. He is always willingly to help students outside of class. You REALLY need to put in the time for this class, but if you do you get A LOT out of it!
Some love him some hate him. I think he's a bad teacher that has tenure or something so doesn't try. If you don't understand he'll just move on instead of explaining something a different way. Geography tests are pointless and he won't help you find the information or tell you where to find it before the test (i.e. main exports). Don't recommend.
Booth is really a good professor. It is hard, you will have geography test. He is very knowledgeable and care his student.
Honestly the embodiment of my worst nightmare as far as professors go. Super boring, super old and his tests are on stuff he never taught. If you teach yourself with the book you'll do great because that's where he gets his stuff. He just doesn't tell you that.
Pay attention and GO TO OFFICE HOURS. This professor is very very smart and is good to have on your side, so actually try. Material is hard if you don't care about subject.
I thought he was a bad teacher. Some of his HW is based off concepts he's yet to go over and his tests require students to use application of concepts he 'generalized' in class. Also, in his lectures he tries to relate the material to personal anecdotes/stories but the connection comes out incredibly hazy. Even if you study a lot, you may not pass.
lectures are kind of interesting. he mainly just tells stories but he doesn't prepare you well for the test
I took intro to micro and macro econ and got an A+ in both. I took Econ 350 with Booth and basically failed. He is a terrible teacher. Does his teaching in the last 10 mins of class. He just tells stories and gives hw worth 20+ points and grades hard. If you dont get help outside of the class then be prepared for a low grade. Time for him to retire
He is an awful professor. Makes no attempt to make the subject easy to understand. Spends all class telling irrelevant stories and expects us to know topics he hasn't even taught. Pointless Geography tests that he doesn't help you prepare for. 100% the worst professor I've had a Chapman - stay away if you can!
It's not hard to surmise why a lot of people THINK he's a great professor. He cares about people applying themselves and truly thinking critically. Reality: He goes off on long-winded tangents, makes general lectures which don't help with tests or 'thinking critically', and severely talks down to people.
Dr. Booth makes you achieve to your level. To pass you have to think, he challenges you to be your best. You will be better for having him as a professor
If you listen to the lectures he will prepare you. But not an easy class by any means
Took both ECON 355 and 465. Lectures are interesting but the majority of them are not relevant to his exams. Very obscure grading system on papers and exams(which are essay)and as a whole. Avoid if possible
Dr. Booth is a great professor and is very talented in economics and is well known in the professional economic world. There's no homework. You take 3 field trips throughout the semester and you have to write a 2-3 paper on them. You have 2 essay midterms and one essay final. Highly recommend it if you're a Econ major.
