take home tests!! whats better than that?
Yes he lets you take home the tests, but he doesnt teach at all, he takes the hardest way, wont show you any easy ways or tricks. Its like your teaching yourself the whole class. The last test is from the whole department so you cant take it home, and he doesnt help by letting you know anything thats going to be on the test!Dont take him
you might as well teach your self math. modules suck
If I wanted to teach my self I would have kept my tuition. Modules program Hawkes Learning Systems is the worst, Bryant wasn't much help. Yes he is easy going, but what's the point if your not learning anything. He skips too many steps in the teaching process. He says he's going to do something and then doesn't. Not recommended.
I agree with all of the other posts- I think he is young and seems inexperienced and unorganized. The only reason I passed with a C is by doing as many of the Hawkes assignments as possible. It was horrible!!!
he sucks!!!! He doesn't teach you anything...it's like teaching yourself! He give you like 15 computer lessons and 50 exercises in the book and wants them all completed in 2 weeks, and he missed class 3x so far!!!!
When I say dont take this class I mean it! Expecially for statistics. He is very inexpierenced and does not understand how to teach students. He does not give partial credit on tests. The only thing you have to boost your grade is the WileyPlus. Try and take someone else.
TOO INEXPERIENCED! DOESN'T ANSWER EMAILS IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, DOESN'T EVEN HAVE PHONE NUMBER. IF YOU TAKE THIS CLASS MINDS AS WELL TAKE IT ON THE INTERNET (SAVE YOUR MONEY). TEACHS OUT OF BOOK! MISSES CLASS ALL THE TIME!! WORSE THAN A STUDENT!
He knows how to help you to understand the course, and he's patient.
Dr. Bryant really made the book understandable because it speaks Chinese and he explains it in English. If you come to class, pay attention when he is teaching, and do your homework you will have a better chance at passing this class. I would recommend him.
He made our Differential Equations class far more difficult than necessary. Regularly gave us Take Home tests that would take more than 10 hours to complete. He failed to teach us why what we were learning was at all important or applicable to our futures. An overall rainfull learning experience!
great teacher and is always there to give you help!
He taught my differential equations class during the summer. We covered quite a bit of material very quickly, but he made the concepts easy to understand. The test did take a long time, but they were straight-forward and challenging. I enjoyed the class and would recommend him and it.
If you take some time to talk to him, he is by far the most helpful professor I have encountered at IRSC. The most important thing he taught his Differential Equations class is how to approach a problem without a structure or format and seek to prove an aspect of it. He is still young, but has tremendous potential as an outstanding teacher.
Nice guy, but made the class really hard. There were 4 tests, all of which were take home and took 10+ hours each! It's pretty much teach yourself.
He Barley Shows For Class And Hate That Hawkes Computer Program He Uses
He is an amazing teacher!! but, can be hard at times..and gurls he's HOT!! if you knwo what i mean!! :)
Dr. Bryant is overall very helpful with this class. If you are not good in math you are probably going to have a hard time.
VERY HELPFUL AND CLEAR ABOUT WHAT HE EXPECTS OUT OF YOU AS A STUDENT. LETS YOU USE LECTURE NOTES ON EXAMS!! =]]
I took Statistics previously with another teacher and had to withdraw because I was so lost. I took statistics again with Mr. Bryant and I passed! He's not like most math teachers. He breaks everything down and he doesn't make you feel stupid in the process. He's always willing to help. I enjoyed his class!!! Highly recommended.
Mr Bryant is one of the best teachers I ever had.He always ready to help you understand things that you find very hard.I recommend him to anyone who wants to take a math class.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK. DON'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH...N BORING.
dr byrant is a great teacher and he gives you as much help aS YOU need to do well in the class.GREAT TEACHER
Dr. Byrant is a great professor! He broke down all the information so that people like me could understand. Math has always been hard for me, this teacher did whatever he could to help me. Because of Dr. Bryant I passed the class after taking with two other professors. He is also very good looking, I enjoyed going to every class!
He's not the best, but certainly not the worst. He skips a few sections and usually starts with the hardest stuff in the chapter and ends with the easiest. Also math xl is part of the grade. He seems like a cool guy outside the class. Not the worst teacher I've had, but I don't think he's the best as well.
Skips a few sections here and there. Makes things a little harder than it seems. Math XL is part of the grade, so if you're struggling or if you're short of an a like I am, it will boost your grade. Seems like an cool guy, but I feel there are better options. Not the worst professor though, that's for sure.
Seems like a nice guy and wants you to succeed, but makes things a lot more complicated than it seems. The MathXL hw is very time consuming and gets very annoying after a while, but if it wasn't for that I would have a B in the class and not an A. However I would say he's better than Hensley and Davis.
To pass this class you must have patience and you also need to study hard. If you dont understand something you can as him but in the end it might just be best if you go to the ASC lab. If you are still willing to take this course with this teacher just be prepared for some pop quizes and that in the beginning it does seem very easy. Good Luck(^_^)
He made the class very hard to understand, especially towards the final. The reviews (especially the final) were nothing like the actual test. The mathXL problems were nothing like we covered in class. Worked my but off to get an 88 and then I drop to a C because 90 percent of the final was on stuff we had not learned in class. Avoid if possible
This is the worst teacher I have ever had! Thank god I am fairly good at math so I could teach alot to myself. I got a B+ in this class no help to him. He was late to every class and left early every class. Rushed through everything and skipped alot of info that was needed for future math classes and the final. He was always unprepared.
He was a good teacher. Never wanted to be there though. He got roped into this class at the last minute. I got an alright grade in his class.
Dr. Bryant frustrated me. He knew his stuff but he never seemed very happy to be teaching. I had to work VERY hard on my own to pass his class. I also sent him three emails which he never wrote back too! Overall I did not have a great experience in his class.
Had for Algebra. He was okay, the class i had was really short so it was kinda hard for me to grasp. I had to teach myself from the hw and the book. But I got an A. The test really arn't that bad.
I took him online for summer 1. I wouldn't recommend his math online course to students who are not well in math. All the work except for exams were on the Intermediate Algebra Component. I got an A in his class. His test were ok, just review the study guide cause its very similiar to the test.
Awesome teacher!! Very funny and helpful. Tests weren't too hard. Let you use one page of notes on each test. Homework is not difficult. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
Dr. Bryant is a great teacher.. He's helpful and more than willing to re-explain and elaborate on difficult areas of precalc. Don't take if you're a slacker and really condensed if taken for a summer class, def. recommend for a full semester, unless you're brilliant in math.
I took him online and it was a wonderful experience. You must be vry self disciplined for this online course. I put alot of work into making an A. He uses the Intermediate Algebra component for all the homework & his test were given in the assessment center. He study guides are very useful because they are similiar to the test. :D Excellent Class!
Dr. Bryant is a true professional and an exemplary College professor. He is competent and shows an interest in his students' understanding of the material versus learning how to pass a test! I've had him for MAC 1105 and currently for STA 2023 and hope to have him for Calculus. This is the caliber of instruction that I expect from a College!
Great Teacher, very laid back, showed interst in what he did. Test are very easy got A's on all of them. Will exlain how to do a problem multiple times if you do not understand. Does not push hw on you so you have to be motivated do it yourself, go to class you will do great! Enjoyed this class
Easy class, don't use textbook AT ALL. All of the work is online in which he doesn't make it due until the end of the semester so it's up to you to stay on task. Goes over things very in depth, a little too in depth for me. Easy exams, easy A. If I knew the lesson he was teaching I'd just walk out and go home, which he had no issue with.
I thought I would do good in this class because I do well in math. With this professor he gave the lesson really fast and never told us what section or chapter we were in. So I never used my notes or my book to study.I failed most test. I took this class again and I got an 'A'.
Easy class. Mostly Review but very informative.
He's a real nice guy, but it was very hard to grasp what was going on, and the examples weren't the best. Tutoring center couldn't help much either since it's usually beyond what they help students with. If you're bad at math, choose another professor. If it's your specialty, it shouldn't be much of a problem.
He's a real nice & good looking guy, but it was very hard to grasp what was going on, and the examples weren't the best. I emailed him a couple times but he never answered any of them. Does not make himself availiable to students.
Very fast we had to keep telling him to slow down. The class is basically him writing on the board and the student trying to keep up. He does NOT give take home test or drop lowest grade. He will show you 3 ways to do everything instead of 1 (very confusing) If you ask a question he will respond to you like you know nothing. NOT Recommended
Great teacher!! He's very thorough with his lessons and answers any questions you may have but ask in class (during or after), He most likely wont answer emails. The homework on MathXL can be overwhelming and I spent many hours just to complete it, but as long as you do it it's likely you'll pass his tests. OH & he's good looking. lol
While Prof. Bryant is very knowledgeable in his area, he's not a very good teacher. He doesn't seem to want to be in class and uses scantrons for tests as well as online HW, which is horrible for a math class. If you have trouble with the subject, as I do, I don't suggest this professor. It's almost like a self-help class.
If you need a teacher to explain and be interactive do not take this class. You basically learn all on your own through the home work online. It takes time to grasp but as long as you do the work you won't fail. very hard to concentrate because he's way to quite and dissent explain very well just keeps writting on the board.
Dr. Bryant is good at what he does, by far the BEST male math teacher I've ever had. He does all he can to help out the students and goes at a normal pace. I wouldn't mind taking him again!
Doesn't actually teach, he just talks to the board the whole time. Had to teach myself from home works.
Good teacher. Will help you with any questions you have. A LOT of homework.
Mr. Bryant is a very smart caring teacher. This class was hard for me, being that I'm a visual learner. He wrote the problems on the board, and I scrambled to write them down and understand what he was saying next. I taught myself with my book. Lots of homework. Wouldn't take again.
he sucks talks to the board expects you to copy what he writes while blocking the problem with his body
Dr. Bryant was a very good teacher. I understood him well and he was helpful when answering questions. I liked the pace our class went and was able to grasp everything. I've had him for 2 math classes already and have received an A in both. Highly recommend him
He is a great teacher and helps the students a lot.
Dr. Bryant is a very helpful and consistent teacher. He was straight to the point when answering questions and insisting on helping the class after an exam. I took his class over the summer and passed with an A.
Dr. Bryant is a great professor! Provides many examples and is patient with answering all your questions. He shows problems step-by-step. There's not much more he can do, he explains & gives examples but if you don't understand it, it's not because he doesn't teach well. It's because you are just not good at math or you don't do your homework.
He is really nice & explains material well. His tests are show all work, not multiple choice, but it's not bad at all. He still gives you a few points for showing your work if the answer is wrong. Just practice & study before the tests & you will do fine!
He writes and talks at the same time which makes it tough to keep up. He is also a fast talker and doesn't leave the problems on the board for long. You almost have to teach yourself using the online program which has problems much more difficult than the ones he teaches with. He also uses these difficult problems on his tests.
I despise math, but I actually enjoyed this class. His lectures aren't very exciting, but they're clear. A little face-paced though, so pay attention. A lot of homework but it's not that hard, and it counts as one test grade. Several quizzes too, so you NEED to go to class if you want a good grade.
This was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. I am an A+ math student and I would hope for the best every time i walked into this class. His tests are never what he makes them out to be- very very hard. He does not drop and he writes so fast it is hard to pay attention to what hes saying half the time. I would not recommend him to anyone
His exams are tough, he is hard to understand, and does not give you the quick ways to get problems done and right, It is Business Calc though you need to be able to do the work. He does care, and helps out as much as possible, if you miss quizzes, homework or tests he will help you out. If you take Bryant, get a tutor.
First two test are easy and then all of a sudden his last two test he turns into a hard professor and nothing he goes over is on the test. 4 test and quizzes and homework online. You need the book to teach Yourself in order to pass. Would not take him again.
Very understandable. He works with you. As long you are updating him why you are missing. Let's you make up tests and quizzes. Amazing teacher.
He kind of talks to the board a little. He is very specific with lecture. Go home and instantly do his homework, you will pass no problem. Took him for precalc in the summer ,would take again. Not an easy A , but not too difficult considering it was summer. You have to study!!!!!
I took this class in the summer so it was very fast-paced. He was very clear and helped me understand a subject of math I haven't been exposed to yet.
Half the negative comments are from people who do not care about Math or do not even study for exams. Just finished MAC1140 with Doctor Bryant and got an A. He is extremely helpful, talks and writes a little fast (it's a summer class people...), works with students during office hours. gives good feedback, very knowledgeable. Awesome professor!
He is a really good math teacher. Makes sure you know and understand how to do equations. Tests are tough, if you don't know what you are doing. Don't get the book, but you will need an access code. I would take him again if he did higher math levels.
Would not take again. Doesn't let students know about the syllabus at all, or tells you exactly what you need to complete for credit. Does not make study guides for the tests so good luck passing! Goes thru lecture quickly and skips steps, doesn't always clarify. Makes class very boring. Wouldn't take again.
All homework and quizzes are online. You can use your notes on the homework and quizzes, which was a plus. He basically talks to the board, and stands in front of his work while writing. I would not recommend him if you are a visual learner, and like things explained to you. Would not take again.
I took this class expecting to pass. My best subject is math. He comes to class And just writes on the board the entire class. Doesn't even teach what is on the homework . He is a very smart guy , just hard to follow. Unless your able to learn by looking at words and not problems I do not suggest taking him .
Dr. Bryant is super clear and never makes you feel silly for asking questions. He is funny, likable and extremely knowledgeable. I would take him for all of my math courses if he taught them.
I had Bryant for a pre-calculus class, you MUST pay attention to lecture and take notes, and he does grade the homework assignments on mymathlab. His tests are straight forward, much like the problems he goes over in class, so the tests are easy if you pay attention. Not an easy A, but its more than possible if you put the effort forth.
Dr. Bryant is super clear and never makes you feel silly for asking questions. He is funny, likable and extremely knowledgeable. I've been taking him for all my math classes and would never take another math professor as long as he is teaching.
The Best Math Professor that teach at IRSC . His lectures are straightforward and he goes around checking on how students are doing. He's very helpful and always willing to go out of his way. I would definitely recommend taking him. This was an Easy A! Ever since I took him, I wouldn't choose any other math professor.
Pretty easy course if you can follow along with the lecture and take good notes we didn't use the book everything is done online. The class is 2parts lecture then lab time awesome time to ask questions if help is needed
Great professor!! Best at IRSC so far!!!
Dr Bryant was a tremendous professor. Very professional, helpful, kind, and most importantly, knowledgeable about his subject. Dr Bryant is definitely near the top as far as quality professors go in the math department of IRSC. I would take again and recommend to anyone looking to take any math class. One thing though... be prepared to take notes
The material is no joke. Its hard and you have to focus to pass but Proff Bryant is really good at explaining everything. He is pretty lenient with grades but you have to show up and at least try. there's quizzes weekly and then the test. Like i said its not an easy class but proff bryant is one of the better choices
Dr. Bryant doesn't make the class too hard, just very long and boring. Probably the most boring, uninspiring classes I have taken at Irsc. Dr. Bryant doesn't doesn't spend lectures teaching you what it is that you are actually doing , just how to do it. You will leave class with notes full of numbers and no understanding of they are used for.
Professor Donald is alright. He doesn't really explain the material very well and goes pretty fast BUT if you stop him and ask what it is he did or what you don't understand he will surly give a better explanation. Friendly and helpful
Great math teacher overall. When you ask questions he does a good job at explaining things. Complete the study guides as well as mymathlab assignments, and you should get a solid grade.
He goes way too fast in his straight 2 and a half hour lecture. No breaks. No greeting the class before scribbling on the board. He seems to expect for you to know and memorize the material within 2 days and doesn't respond to emails. Doesn't tell you where he gets the numbers from or when he simplifies so your always playing catch up. Never again.
You will be taking notes through out the entire class period, fast pace. You may ask questions and he will answers them. I mainly learned from the online assignments. The homework will give you the answers after a couple of failed attempts leaving you with perfect 100's. Defiantly recommend.
Nice professor, but his teaching methods aren't very clear. Just seems to write math on the board, skips steps because he does them in his head, doesn't explain very well on how to do problems. If you took intermediate algebra the pior semester and understood it, you can do fine in this class. He will answer any questions you have though.
Hes pretty simple. Just read before class
Very easy going teacher,he is willing to help if u ask him, lots of notes but worth it, tons if homework, a few tests but no pop quizzes, encourages you to try practice problems and walks around to everyone to check and answer questions if needed, although humble he is worth a try
Perfect professor! Teaches you everything you need to know, easy to understand take in class. Take lots of notes, answers questions, so do not be afraid to ask in class. Understanding and wants to actually help students. Definitely take him, you don't need the book because he explains it to you and the homework is easy if you take notes. Take in
Do all homework and quizzes, dont miss a class, ask questions, easy A
Writes quickly on the board. Asks if you have any questions while you're still writing down the info. Gives you problems to try as he walks around and checks them. Informs you about quizzes before the next class. Only gives you about 7-15 minutes to complete quizzes. Quizzes are 2-4 questions; tests are 14-20 questions. Do the hw and study from it.
He is one of the best statistics lecturers at IRSC!
Dr. Bryant moves at a comfortable pace throughout the material, and has students try it on their own in between moving on to the next topic. He goes around the room to check on students individually, which is an easy way to ask questions or get extra help. Tests are fairly easy, providing you paid attention in class. Very caring and helpful.
Very uninspired lectures. I got bored of math in his class. Regurgitated facts and notes on the board with little explanation of what the concepts mean.
He goes step by step and is willing to explain any question you have. The only problem with him is he teaches to his tests, not the my math lab homework. He gives some extra credit chances.
Excellent professor, make sure you takes notes in class, do the homework assignments on time, and do the study guides before the tests and you will pass.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! JUST DO THE HOMEWORK AND PIECE OF CAKE
Dr Bryant is very knowledgeable of Math & is passionate about it. He wants his students to learn & interacts with them in class. However, this class was extremely hard for me. I consider myself strong in Math but the material was really tough & he almost made it harder. He gives a test review but it isn't enough. Don't take if you want an easy A!
Dr. Bryant teaches Statistics in a way that everyone can understand. After he teaches a concept, he gives you a problem to try on your own and he walks around the room to check on every single student. This allows you to ask questions, which he will gladly answer. I took Stats in the summer and he truly made math easy to grasp. Best math prof EVER!
He is not the best at teaching, he definitely knows what he is doing math wise, but it is difficult to follow when you have no idea what you are doing. He does care about your grade and gives extra credit along with curving the test scores. I recommend going to the tutors as much as possible while in his class.
I took calc 2, online during summer, so maybe that part of it, but I spent most of my free time either doing the homework, rewatching the lectures, which can be fast paced, and watching youtube lectures. Tests were difficult, but I didnt study much. If you study his practice questions and really take time to understand them, you should be fine.
Perhaps the most middle of the road professor I have taken, so far. The lectures drag on, you can get lost very easily, and the work's difficulty greatly varies. But at least he knows what he's talking about, and is far from annoying. Not my favorite, but if need be he is a fine choice. (Note: MAC1114 isn't listed, but he has one. Trust me.)
Prof. Bryant is the BEST teacher ever. I've taken four courses with him, starting from College Algebra to Calculus, and he's literally THE best teacher. He's so caring, gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and most importantly, teaches SO good. Anyone saying he goes quick, he does-but he always helps WHENEVER it is needed. Hands down!Ty Prof!
This teacher actually cares, responds quickly and answers all questions... tests are worth A LOT but if you listen to lectures and do the worksheets it all goes well
Tests are worth almost your entire grade, although tall homework for material was due on test day Id say it was a little heavy. In class material covered didnt really help with tests. The homework helped the best with tests but I found my self doing a lot of self teaching, or needing to ask the institute tutors. Nice gentleman and quick responder
Lectures were extremely long and not interactive at all. Never explained anything in detail, just read from the book and wrote it on the board. Heavy on the homework and the tests were weighed heavily. Difficult tests, only sends out a review sheet of problems from the book that arent even helpful for the test. Difficult class and professor. big no
He was an okay professor, he taught the material, but the lectures were very uninspiring, he just told you how to do it, nothing more. The tests were easy as long as you studied the problems he gave you, but it was really just a lot of "do this and this" without really giving insight as to why you were doing it.
when it comes to teaching math at least at Mac 1147 level he just reads from the book. The book that was provided honestly sucked, and the test practice problems never seemed to line up properly so what you were studying never really applied on the actual test. Not to mention that the test that you do have to take are weighted so heavily
He's a very caring and understanding professor. Sometimes he would even push back test dates. I took him for calc 2 and 3. I also do think he doesn't elaborate as much with his lectures so that can be a problem for some. He does let our class try some of the questions on our own though and go over it.
Professor Bryant clearly knows a lot about math. He does teach you how to solve problems step by step, and also breaks down word problems. He even teaches you short cuts on how to plug it into the calculator. However his tests aren't multiple choice so be careful. He does walk around the room and lets you solve problems on your own and will help.
Best math teacher I've ever had.
Teaches straight to the point, provides all the material needed for the exams. He will put problems on the board and walks around the room and provides help to his students. If you need help he is nice if you just approach him or asks for help. However tests are heavy and not multiple choice.
This man is CHILL. Like, it is surprising to see people fail his class. He is notably easier than other professors, i think. Great guy all around- if you have anything going on he will help. GUARANTEED. ok bye
The most easy-going professor I ever had. He talks fast and homework can be annoying at times (just ask for extensions). Go to his office hours if you're having trouble he's understanding. I cannot stress this enough PRACTICE the textbook problems he provides for the test, they're very helpful. Good luck and don't procrastinate it'll bite you.
Dr. Bryant is easily the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are straight to the point, and he teaches you everything you need to know for his tests. He gives everyone a chance to solve some practice problems while he goes around helping. He provides practice problems to prepare for the test, some of which are on the test itself.
Honestly, if you are not good in math and you do not like it please do not take his class. His lectures are just him doing problems on the board without truly explaining what everything means. I had to start teaching myself the material and this rate I will not pass. So, I am trying to drop his class right now.
The tests are 150 points so if you get lost somewhere along the 10 sections he speeds through in 4 classes in 2 weeks you're extremely likely to get a low grade. You will definitely have to teach yourself everything. He may allow resubmit assignments but you will get 25% off when you turn them back in so your grade will barely go up a percentage.
Not my first time having Dr Bryant however he is a good teacher and teaches straight to the point. He teaches by drawing problems on the board and shows you how to do them step by step, if you get lost his office hours and his hep are very helpful. He may seem serious but if you approach him asking for help he is more than willing to help you.
Professor Bryant is an excellent math teacher. He breaks down concepts clearly and is always willing to help. The workload is challenging, but using resources like unstuck ai along with the textbook makes this class manageable. Definitely take it if you can!
Currently taking this course, he is a very nice guy and good at explaining but the pace of the course this time is a bit too fast for me so I'm probably going to fail. You're gonna need to spend at least 2-3 hours every single day of the semester of good studying in order to get an A
Just don't take his class, the other reviews sum it up well. Knows what HE is doing but cannot translate it well to the students. Get a tutor if you don't understand. If you're one of those people who typically just float by, this is NOT the professor for you.
Would not recommend if you struggle with math. Talks very quietly and very fast. He understands the material well however isn't great on conveying it. He worked with me so I could pass however, I was constantly lost in his lectures.
He's insanely smart, but not the best at teaching. Goes way too fast by the time I finish the first problem he's on the third. Does not tell you how many points each test question is worth, no multiple choice and minimal instruction. There is no test drop and no the extra credit offered will barely affect your grade.Good guy not the best teacher.
Cool guy and his class is very straightforward. He doesn't try to trick you; everything is pretty much what you'd expect if you're keeping up. He explains things clearly and gives practice questions that actually reflect what's going to be on the test Definitely a fair professor. If you're responsible, you'll do well.
I took this class online as a dual enrollment student, one of the worst decisions ever. Four tests are 69% of your grade. Homework is about 100 questions, 3 a week. Lectures are outdated and confusing. No extra credit or grade rounding. He met with me outside of office hours but couldnt cover all material. Hardest class I've taken-DONT TAKE ONLINE!
SUPER fast lectures (2.5hrs) but very clear in the processes and very welcoming of questions.
