For a geology class, I'd say this is as good as it gets. He's such a sweet, approachable professor and tried to make the class as interesting as possible. He gives a lot of opportunities for grade improvement.
this guy is pretty awesome. was a fan of this class. you can tell he's really juiced about geology. the tests can be tricky though. Make sure to have a copy of the text cause all his test questions are based on the multiple choice at the end of each chapt
VERY nice professor. Obviously loves taking his students on extra credit field trips b/c he makes a cute photo collection of them, so be sure to go on the trips and earn easy extra pts. Study text summaries & ch. questions and you'll do fine!

The cutest old man ever! Probably the easiest class at ASU yet...all of the test questions are in the back of the book. Memorize those and its a guaranteed easy A. Tons of extra credit with field trips and slide quizzes! He loves his job and it shows!
He's a pretty cool Prof. Class is large, so it's simply lectures. If you want an A, studying or at least knowing the material is a must. 3 or 4 tests, all multiple choice, and he enjoys changing the questions around from the book. But altogether, you can't go wrong.
Super easy. I mean he took all his questions from the book and put them on test. He gives out extra credit all the time and he grades on a curve where a 50% is like a C to him. You just have to stay focused and take the class for advantage because it does require reading and paying attention.
he's a sweet heart. very interested in what he's doing. gives very thorough explanations of material.
Good professor. Makes it extremely easy for you to do well. Little reason to get anything but an A.

Super easy, with a huge curve...it would be hard not to do well. However, his lectures are so insanely boring that it makes you want to strangle yourself. His lectures are monotonous and unclear. Force yourself to put in a little effort, despite the extreme boredom you will feel by participating in class, and you are almost guaranteed to do well.
The lectures are extremely boring-but the tests are book based! He gives in class quizes-but if you aren't there- he allows you to make it up! He offers extra credit points and makes it easy to do well. Take this teacher!
The class is based on 3 exams which are from the end of the chapter MC questions that he changes up a little bit, but all you need to do is study those for the tests. He offers plenty of extra credit before each exam and you dont even need to go to class until exam days because if he gives EC in class you can just make it up by watching a video.
This professor sucks. He mumbles forever and you absolutely want to kill yourself because of the boredom. He wouldn't know if any students actually came to class or not. He doesn't take attendance. Do yoursel a favor and don't take this class from him. If your in it, drop immediately and take Julia Johnson.
What a bore! Don't worry about showing up...he's ancient and doesn't care. But good luck getting a good grade. His lectures could put anyone to sleep.

This is such a horrible class. I put in minimal effort but constantly worried about this class. The lectures DO NOT pertain to the tests. The tests are impossible. The curve is absolutely necesssary because everyone fails. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
All tests come from end of chapter material from book, if you know this stuff very well, it's an easy A. Heavy curve, so don't feel too bad if you get a bad grade on a test because the curve helps so much. Also slide quizes are strictly extra credit and can only help you
BORING. Test are very hard but puts a huge curve on them. just do extra credit slide quizes and you will do fine.
I guess his teaching style is very similar to those IVY league schools in east coast. Yeah, the lectures are not really related to those tests, but very recommended for students who want do a geology major. As long as you do extra credits you will be fine but they are pop quizs or field trips. So must show up all the time.
I love Dr. Burt! Sure, he mumbles and has a bit of a dry humor, but some stuff he says is hysterical. Plus, he's very nice. I bubbled my test wrong once and he rescored it by hand for me. You can tell he loves geology and he knows what he's talking about. Listen in class, read the book, and you'll be fine. I would take another class from Dr. Burt!
This class was boring. The test were confusing but some how I got a B in the class. He has extra credit available but it's an if your in class and is at the last 60 seconds of class so everyone that leaves early miss out!
This class is the worst class I have ever taken. Being a business major, I have no interest in this topic and Dr. Burt makes me even less interested. LONG lectures of mumbles and pathetic jokes. DO NOT TAKE GLG101 WITH DR. BURT!
This professor is very boring. On the plus side he offers extra credit on the negative side he has quizzes on the most tedious slide shows. If you have ever seen the Simpson’s, it’s like watching the slides from Patty and Selma’s vacations. There is no home work and three tests (not including the final).
BORING!! Everyone falls asleep. Mumbles alot. 4 tests and counts 3. Gives slide quizzes which are EC so go to class. Tests are insanely difficult, so he curves the grades which is very nice but still need extra credit if you want to do well. If your slightly interested in Geology, do not take Burt otherwise take him to fullfil the science credit.
I loved this class, if I didn't want to listen to the lecture I would still show up to class and just work on something else because the slide quizes he gives really helps your grade. Also, it's great if you take the lab GLG 103 with the class.
This class was a complete breeze if you actually attended class, did the extra credit and actually studied a few hours for the tests. Those that did poorly never came to class and missed out on EC opportunities that really help your grade. Tests are based on book, so lectures a a bit useless. Kind of a goofy, little old man :)
Very boring, didn?t learn much from him (it?s hard to stay awake during class. Tests were easy, entirely from questions on the back of the chapters, there are 3 tests and a final, but you can drop the final if you have taken all 3 and are happy with your grade, also he gives slide quizzes during class, so that helps too.
He's pretty easy but if you have any obligations outside of school that interfere he won't work with you. I had a military obligation that fell on a test day that I could adjust and he refused to allow me to take an exam at a different time.
He is just so darn cute you cant help but love him. He's a sweet old man that really knows his stuff. The tests are quite difficult, so I suggest taking all 4(only 3 are madatory). Not a bad teacher, just expects alot out of you. Put forth the effort, it's worth it in the end.
Lectures are pretty useless, all test questions are pulled from the end of the chapter questions. Lectures are good when he talks about stuff related to geology, but he spent a majority of the time talking about evolution, Tests are hard, not as easy as they sound. But the semester curve will make up for it. I got a D % and still got a B-
i couldn't stand his class. all he does is mumble and trails off and before you know it he's onto another topic. his lectures were pretty much a joke, i learned more from the book than from w/e he wrote on the board. however it does help to attend for slide quizzes
Don't bother showing up to class, because you can just read the book and ace the tests. All the questions are pretty much straight from the book, as he says himself. He's not a bad teacher...just hard to stay awake during class...he likes to show slides of geologic history...turns out the lights and I want to go sleep...even after 3 cups of coffee!
He's kind of an ornery old salt but you can't help but like him. His dry sarcasm will probably make you laugh. The guy has infinite geology knowledge and although he's not a dynamic presenter, I never find him boring.
4 tests, can drop one, based entirely off end of chapter material in book, so don't have to go to class but gives up to 3 E.C. points almost per week if you do. Lots of reading and memorizing because tests cover a lot but curves tests and final grade (over a 69 was a B in my class) gives lots of E.C. opportunities
Class isn't too bad. Not the most interesting subject but it's kinda hard to make rocks exciting. Go to class for the extra credit if nothing else. Test questions are from the end of chapter questions. HUGE curves which is nice.
I know this is not an interesting topic, but the reviews of this guy being boring is an understatement.. All in all I do think that he is a good guy, but I would avoid this class if possible.
Class is based on 3 tests (and optional final which you prob won't take). Class averages on tests are around 60%. HOWEVER, he offers about 45 points of Extra Credit for being in class with EASY slide quizzes and short field trips. He has a ridiculous curve:Fall '10 curve was (78-A,60-B,48-C...) Tests are based solely on end of chapter vocab/review.
I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. Burt is a nice guy but his class is ridiculously boring! He talks of of a ppt and it's difficult to pay attention. If you decide to take the class then attend b/c he hands out slide quizzes worth 3 pts that def add up. His tests are overly hard! Read the book to study and try to remember every details
Class makes me want to gouge my eyes out of bordom. The average grade is 66% on tests so he curves them, you never know what your going to get. Each test is over like 800 pages of material and he tests very detailed things in only 33 questions. He offers extra credit field trips and class attendance. I suggest taking a different teacher.
Somewhat interesting to listen to (in a grandfather kind of way) BUT he offers more info than needed. Powerpoint is not concise, goes too in depth. Slides are excessive in information & hard to digest. Tests are wordy & unnecessarily difficult. Thankfully curves tests MAJORLY which are based off of txtbk chapter reviews. 2 extra credit field trips.
avoid this teacher if you are taking for easy A. Lectures are impossible to pay attention to. The extra credit field trips are painful (friday, saturday or sunday). Tests are based entirely off the end of chapter material, however requires much more time than expected. Huge curve. Expect to spend a lot of time memorizing if you want an A.
Burt is a nice and funny man, like a grandpa, but this class is useless. Most people take it to get a sci out of the way and this isn't the one to take. No need to go to class- powerpoints don't help at all, tests are all based on end of chapter summaries, VERY hard tests, almost impossible. He curves the grade yet hard to succeed.
Glg 101 with Prof Burt was not a hard class at all. The tests are based on end of chapter reviews so all you have to do is study and memorize those. His tests aren't super easy but he curves them (generously) so you end up with an A or B usually. Go to class for extra credit and attend the field trips also. Very easy to get an A or B in.
Professor Burt is a good professor, but his tests are not the easiest things. Just attend class, the field trips, take the slide quizzes, and you will pull through with a passing grade. He curves the grades generously, which is really great.
3 exams with an optional final. Exams include questions only on what is in the back of each chapter. 2 extra credit field trips. Could technically just show up on exam day even though he does have some slide quizzes so you can help your grade. Was a pre-req so my interest was low but he is a nice man who loves what he is teaching.
On the third test I scored 40 points over the average, 15 of those points are extra credit. Go to class everyday for the possibility of extra credit. Buy the book, online it's 35 bucks. He writes terrible tests (2/3 are: all of the following are true EXCEPT), but all of the information is based off of end of test material. I enjoyed the lectures.
Burt is NOT articulate at all. His lectures are useless. His favorite word is "uh...". His tests are difficult if you don't study at all. Studying is required. Use only the textbook and don't take notes. You will not use them to study.
Nice guy, very polite and helpful in emails. You can tell he loves his job -- he could ramble passionately about rocks for hours. Lectures were interesting but pointless. Exams make up your ENTIRE grade (no HW) and are based solely on the textbook. He also curves immensely. Skip the lectures and do all the chapter review questions. Easiest A ever.
Very nice old man.... loves to joke and tell stories. However his lecture is very boring and often times unclear. Tests are entirely from the CH. Reviews in book, however questions are worded strangely. To get a good grade you must memorize ALOT. Curve: 48%= C 60% = B
Tests are really a true pain, he likes to cram 4 questions into 1 by making his entire test questions that are "which is not true" or which is true questions with 5 choices. Gotta memorize alot. Additionally he doesnt post any materials online so good luck reviewing his PPTS
Learned a lot about energy, mostly oil. Simple assignment every week. Easy daily video quiz so attend class. There was 1 difficult test that is curved. Half the class normally didn't attend and it hurt their grade. As long as you attend class it's a good GPA booster plus you will learn a lot about mining and energy for future reference.
Dr. Burt has an interesting view on geopolitics and the current state of the world. Regardless, his assignments and the class as a whole was fairly straightforward. Don't expect to do well on his only test and prepare to make some effort toward the final project. Other than that, the class is easy though attend often as there are occasional videos.
Although he is a nice and funny man, he is not the best professor. Donald Burt has quiet, boring lectures and often teaches with youtube videos. He does not go into much depth and his tests are HARD. Not only does he not prepare you very well for the test, but the test itself is formatted in a difficult way. To pass this class you better study hard
Large proportions of his GLG 101 lectures were youtube videos about geology which he explains aren't relevant to the exams. He was alright when he was explaining things himself, though.
Professor Burt is a nice gentlemen who loves what he does. I learned a lot about natural resources and how we use it in our everyday lives. Be sure to come to class for easy in class points. And put effort into the final project, he helps you if you need help. He shows interesting videos throughout the semester. He is funny to, take him!
Professor Burt is probably the best and coolest geology teacher ever. No homeworks, just tests. His test are extremely difficult, but it doesn't really matter because he curves them HEAVILY. To pass, attend his lecture everyday in case he has video critiques (extra credits) and go to extra credit field-trips. Also, he's a funny guy.
The entire class is based off of three exams. These exams are pretty challenging, but the curve is such that down to like a 70% counts as an A. While this class is easy, it was almost painfully boring. In hindsight I wish I had taken chemistry instead. Chemistry definitely would've been time consuming, but I wouldn't have been bored out of my mind.
3 exams. All difficult. Its curved so a 60 to 70 is a A but don't expect to score that high. Don't bother attending lecture unless you want extra points toward your exam. Other than that, Burt is a nice old man who makes too many rock puns but he isn't all the best professor. GET THE TEXTBOOK!!! You'll need it to even get a C on the exam.
He makes it very clear what to expect. Grade is made of three incredibly challenging tests each worth 33%. So if you enjoy only taking tests, I recommend this class for you. Questions come from chapter summaries in textbook, but very, very specific. When there aren't a lot of people in class, he gives extra credit to those that attended.
For our first exam, he said he was "ashamed" of how difficult and horrible it was. His tests are made to trip you up and are the hardest I've ever taken! They're just evil. You're only graded on 3 exams, with an optional final that gets ADDED to your grade curve. That means each test is 33% of the grade, or 25% if you take the even harder final.
Useless lectures, amazingly hard tests that really challenge how well you can memorize to a T. Don't take him but if you do: Get the textbook (have to), and just memorize the chapter summaries and review questions like as much as possible. Only need to show up to get extra credit which you will need. Kings of memorization would like this class.
I highly recommend against taking this class unless you are really really good at memorizing facts and then correlating them with different time periods. His test contains a very large number of which of the following is false questions which are extremely hard. Usually his false questions only has a word or a number that's slightly changed.
Oh, were you writing down this long ass paragraph of notes from the slide? NEXT SLIDE TIME Then has the nerve to tell me i need to show up to class when i do bad on the first test, even though i went to every pointless class where i couldnt get half the notes down.
If you are good at memorizing, take this class. It is an easy A if you show up to class for the weekly extra credit (don't bother taking notes) and study the end of chapter materials. The tests are verbatim the end of chapter materials, but in the form of multiple choice questions. Don't take this class if you expect to learn something.
Everyone says that this class is brutal since you're only graded on 3 tests. But the expectations are clearly laid out. Just make quizlets of the end of chapter summaries and study them for a while and you're good. People who struggled just didn't put the time in studying. If you are used to sciences like chem or physics, this is a cake walk.
He taught the class. That's it. It was simple-- he gave lectures and then he gave tests. Simple and vanilla. He cares about what he does, but I wouldn't say I am good at geology after earning an A from cramming for tests.
If you read the textbook and try on the tests, you will be just fine. The lectures aren't mandatory but every now and then you'll get extra credit for showing up. It doesn't take much to do well in this class but you will need to put in a little effort if you want to get above a C.
I thought that it being a 101 class, it wouldn't be this hard. He said on our first test that if he was taking this test he wouldn't pass, and doesn't expect anyone to pass and then our class average was a 60%. He doesn't teach at all, he finds YouTube videos and then says that they are incorrect. I would highly recommend not taking his class.
Donald Burt has taken my slight interest in Geology as a Business Major and completely murdered it. He reads directly off his power-point, and plays laggy YouTube videos which hardly pertain to material we are tested on. As a 101 course, the amount of information for each test you are expected to absorb is utterly absurd.
Just don't. Save yourself some time and sanity. Grades on only 3 exams, plus the optional final. Lectures are utterly useless and a complete waste of time. If you're bold enough to take him, read the end of chapter summaries a couple times a week before each test, do the extra credit, don't drop any tests, and the curve will carry you home.
You can find the book for free online. Only 4 tests, 3 are graded. But, drop the final because even though all the tests are hard, the final is cumulative. Since exams are open note, just make a big study guide of the chapter materials/summaries and you will be fine. But, God bless your soul if you underprepare for the exams.
3 tests. Each worth 33% of your total grade. Open book, open note, and not proctored. Dr. Burt was very clear which chapters each test was based on, and since they were open note you could easily make a cheat sheet. Lectures are useless, but if you make a good study sheet for each test then the class is an easy A.
He is very passionate about his subject. Super cool guy. Open to questions. Gave insight to geology profession.
Although I find geology extremely interesting as a subject, Professor Burt makes the subject unbelievably dry and boring. I learned little to nothing from his lectures and stopped showing up since he only grades exams, all of which are based on the end of chapter summaries in the text book. I learned more from the lab than I did from this class.
If you're looking for a positive, upbeat class this is definitely not the professor for you. However, he is knowledgeable about the material which is usually interesting, and very communicative with students. There are lots of quizzes and papers, but they're not as difficult as they seem and he does accept late work. Very hard to fail this class.
I showed up to the lecture a few times, but each time I did, half the class was asleep and the other half was doing homework for a different class. I'm in the class now and am genuinely concerned that I won't pass. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!! Most people are currently failing the class. If you have to take this class, take it with a different professor.
If you like being bored in class, then take him. Otherwise, please dont take his class. His tests are just memorization of the textbook, and the lectures are useless. You might as well teach yourself the material.
Professor Burt is not very engaging, and seems to care more about his rock of the day than anything else he teaches, but his class is not challenging by any means. All the tests are based on the end of chapter reviews in the textbook, so as long as you have those, you should be set.
I took this class because I assumed it would be an easy A for my engineering load. HA, wrong. This class is actually very challenging. The lectures are just power points and the tests are 30 questions like, "which of the following is false". There is an abundance of knowledge to master. Do not take this class as a blowoff, it's simply not.
I went to 3 classes the entire semester and got an A. That's because I read the entire textbook. His lectures do not match the content on the test so don't bother going. Instead, read the textbook on your own time and then show up for the test.
Grade is literally three exams, plus an optional final. Lectures are terrible: plays Youtube videos and powerpoints where half the time they didnt work. Realized I didn't have to go to class and I reviewed the chapter summaries only instead. Got Bs on most of the exams and ended up passing with an A due to the curve.
Plays elementary and middle school level YouTube videos for a third of class, and mumbles into the mic for the remaining time. His lectures involve him purely reading PowerPoints, which do not correlate with the collegiate textbook he requires. Just study on your own using the textbook review questions. He recycles those questions for the tests.
Worst professor I've had. I'm a 4.0 student and got a B+. He was so monotone with no passion, tests were unreasonably hard for a 101 level course, lectures weren't even his -- they were made by the textbook's company. Otherwise just played YouTube videos. He was so rude to his poor TA too. I love geology and was so excited for this course :(
The tests are very difficult. Even if you study all the chapter thoroughly, it is difficult
Please do not take this class. He gives 3 tests and an optional final, lectures are completely useless. He plays 6th grade youtube rap videos in his lectures, and he is an extremely hard grader. For the first exam, the average was a 62%. Please do not and I repeat Do Not take this class, If you do you will lose brain cells.
Worst professor I have ever had. Your final grade is made up of only 3 exams and he does not even teach his own material. He never thoroughly goes through material in lecture. We are expected to know six chapters of textbook material, end of chapter material (180+ questions), lecture material, and video material in a little over one month.
I really don't think professor Burt knows how to teach. There is no teaching style other than the slight enthusiasm he has when bringing up his rock of the day. If possible I highly recommend you take another professor. If not be prepared to use your textbook, but even then you're still going to be missing some material.
Please avoid Burt at all costs! Only grades 3 difficult tests and there are only which of the following is FALSE questions. Lectures are useless and unengaging. He does not want his students to succeed, given how ridiculously formatted the test is. Just hope that the curve and extra credit save you. DO NOT take this class unless you love rocks >:(
Only grades you on three exams and extra credit given in class here and there. The exams are open book though, so getting a B or C requires no studying if you're good at using the book during the exams and do all the extra credit. Don't even bother attending his lectures, even he jokes about how boring the slides he reads off are.
He's an icon.
Curves tests and extra credit can raise your score an entire letter grade. Tests count as your only assignments.
It's an easy class. No homework or quizzes, just three open note at home tests. There is also a curve at the end of the year and extra credit opportunities.
Not the best teacher, but it would be best if you did attend lectures because extra credit was occasionally awarded. Very test heavy, so you will not do well if you do not pay attention. When I first joined the class, he seemed very proud to announce that the average grades on his tests were 60% so take that as you will...
First class where "Graded By Few Things" is amazing. 3 open-note tests make up your grade; all of them are curved, and all of them have at least 9% extra credit opportunities. Basically a free class. And if you decide to go to some lectures, Prof. Burt is a nice and charming man who understand his class is only for gen ed.
The lectures are not engaging and videos are shown that have nothing to do with geology. For lectures, an hour of videos are shown and then in the last 15 minutes, he powers through 50-80 slides on the chapter saying maybe a word or two about each. For this class, you HAVE to get the textbook because the lectures are no help with the exams.
This class is really hard, I would recommend choosing another teacher for this class. I bought the "required" textbook for this course and did not use it once! The only grades put in are your test grades which makes it hard to try and bring up your grade. Personally I did not like this class and do not recommend.
Only grades are the 3 exams which are open note. It says you are required to buy a book but I know many didn't use it. Attendance is not mandatory. Lots of opportunities to get extra credit. He curves your final grade because his exams are kinda difficult. I ended with an 84% but he gave me an A.
Very bad professor and does not teach the class, instead assigns random videos and discussions based on those.
Lectures are awful and useless, his voice puts you to sleep. Lectures are slideshows that don't cover the test content and random videos. Tests are hard but are curved and open-book, so it's not too bad. Offers occasional extra credit. Would only take it again because it's not too hard to get a good grade if you are good at tests.
Your ENTIRE grade is based on 3 midterm exams and an extra credit assignment here and there (worth bonus test points). DO NOT take his class! I am usually a decent test taker but have done awful on his tests so far. No good test prep, just tells us to read the textbook basically. This class if far too unreasonably difficult for being a 101 course.
As a 101 class, I expected this class to be easier. Your entire grade is based off of three midterm exams and due to use of AI, the last test we took was closed note and lockdown browser. His tests are difficult since he likes to ask "which one of these is false of the four options". My friends have it easier, take another class.
The Professor is passionate about what he talks about but rarely ever any points given to students unless it is through tests. There are 3 big exams basically 33% of your grades. He shows random youtube videos that do not actually engage with the overall coursework. Even though the tests are tough, he has closed open notes so it made it harder.
Class is too difficult for being a 101. Your grade is based on three exams, which are heavy on material with little time. The first two exams were online and open-note, but due to AI use, the third exam was moved to in-person, closed-note. I suspect this will stay for future semesters, but I'm not sure. I would recommend a different professor.
Class was basically just based on the 3 exams, teacher offers extra credit for coming to class and critiques on videos. Shows animated videos about geology, last half of class is him just reading off a powerpoint almost teaching himself and not his students. Teacher does not care about excuses will not provide extensions T.A. sucked at responding.
Gives extra credit for attendance and video critues but fails to state that it is in fact not extra credit, for example we took three tests each 99 pts he added 10 pts extra credit the wrong way (made it out of 109 pts) without telling anyone. You have to go to class to earn the extra ten points if not its deducted in his spread sheet (no canvas)
He is a really nice, passionate guy but just a terrible teacher. His lectures are very boring and unengaging. The format of his tests are mainly "Which of the following are false" questions which really set you up for failure no matter how hard you study.
Lectures are pretty dull, but the class isn't too hard if you use the textbook and resources like Unstuck ai for study prep. Tests are curved, so a good grade is doable with some effort.
Picked GLG304 this semester so far not liking it. Despite the professor's hilarious attitude and sarcasm, the homework is way off course from the recommended book and is on videos/discussions.
Man very uninteresting course which doesn't correlate with the lecture material from PowerPoints. Random discussions and videos don't really make sense. It's hard to know what to study so far for the test since there's numerous amount of things in the class rock of the day, videos, discussions, homework, and notes from presentations/lectures.
Very strange class and I heard his other classes are very strange with weird video lectures such as GLG101, GLG102, and GLG441. Weird!
Weird very weird!! But offered extra credit and graded the impossible test on a curve.
The entirety of your grade is 3 tests, and it feels like none of the material is covered in lectures or PowerPoint presentations. The first 2 tests were open note, the last one was closed note since he noticed too many people were getting high grades. Curves grades so most people do pass. I got a 66 (C), so do with that what you will.
Not good at all and this professor made geology itself very boring. Used to like geology, but not anymore.
Cannot even describe into words how boring yet difficult this class is. No study guides for exams, no engaging lessons, difficult professor who brags about test averages being 50-60; overall just awful. Professor is clearly passionate but does NOT know how to teach. Take someone else.
holy boring. i was actually really excited to take this class but this professor made me literally skip half the semster. nothing covered in the class is on the tests, its a weird mix of youtube videos and him sort of reading the textbook? idk really weird class and really hard tests. i read all the chapters and still only scored a 60.
Lectures aren't that useful, better off studying the textbook on your own for the 3 exams. If you're expecting easy exams with little work, its not going to fly. He does curve.
Do not take for GLG 304. He uses the class as his personal outlet to share his conspiracy theories about things like Pearl Harbor being staged and the Ukraine War being created by the US government. Has very little to do with minerals.
Burt is intelligent as a professor and nice as a person. But man, his lectures were bad. Just showing us tangentially related videos and then skimming over the textbook (which is free online, W). Don't even get me started on the exams. 90% of questions are "which one is false". Once you answer a question and go to the next, you can't go back.
