Had him for two humanities...one was a telecourse. As far as the non-telecourse(Greek and Roman), he was VERY energetic, nice and an easy grader. Very willing to work with students who don't get all their assignments in on time.

I am only taking a telecourse of his, but I wish that I was taking a regular course because he seems like a great teacher and a great guy. I am learning a lot, and would love to be in a class that he leads all the time, instead of just at exam reviews.

This one is a hottie and he's funny. He is so fun. Take his 5 week course with a friend, it's quick! Averaged about 2 papers a week, but if you do the work - your golden. He's expecting a baby soon. He is clear on what is expected. No tardiness.

He is one of those teacher that i would never forget during my entire college career, he's perfect in anyway...he good...no words can describe how much respect i have for him...he's great....and he deserves to be professor of the year....

This guy runs on high octane. He has so much energy it's amazing. We're sitting there for hours and hours but our attention is totally focused. He has interesting stories, helpful visual aids, relevant assignments. Excellent class, excellent teacher.

Do not take any course with Carry if you are an ESL student. Do not take this if you are not able to write like a Humanities major :( Cary loves to assign homework. very hard grader

I took this as a telecourse...hyper does not begin to explain him. Very energetic, and helpful. After going to the review sessions, I wished that I had taken his class on site. He is a tough grader, but if you do what he askes, you will do fine.

Take this class on site. To communicate with him face to face is the best. He is incredible boring but he really seems to love what he does. He grades SUPER easy and lets you give some late work. But if you take advantage of him you may regret it. Nice guy and a good experience.

Prof. Cary is a great teacher but don't take the telecourse.Unless you are interested in stuff like Mythology,you won't appreciate the telecourse.Four papers due over term and a research paper.Lots of writing & difficult. Definetely take him onsite.Only saw him at review and was great face-to-face.

Very helpful if you utilize him. He understands that people have lives and things to do. Lots of reading and writing, but eazier than most onsite courses.

Cary is a cool professor and also a funny dude. I took his 8 hour Saturday course and had a blast. Very helpful. I will be taking his Mythology course soon.

Tremendous instructor. The people who make these negative comments just have axes to grind. He is accessible through e-mail and via telephone, always. He tries hard to meet the needs of all his students. His is definitely a class you must take.

Probably the best instructor I've ever had. He's so energetic and so entertaining, and he really cares about ideas and dialog. He is an incredibly fair grader and he comes up with interesting assignments. He's very open about his politics but absolutely will not hold an opposing view against you. There is no reason to not take his class.

Really enjoyed his teaching, even though the material itself was dull. Made class seem less boring. Likes to watch films/etc on overhead, very enthusiastic. Willing to help anyone & go the extra mile if they ask & make an effort. Grades extremely fair, ended up with a hig B in the class. Would recommend!

Amazing!! One of the best professors I've ever had. He's extremely funny and very intelligent. He explains things very well without falling into the "i studied for 10 years in Athens and know more than you'll ever know about Greek and Roman culture, I'd just much rather be writing my 42nd book right now" attitude. My teacher for High School Humanities, and just finished up Greek/Roman Humanities... Cary rocks!!! Very interested to know your thoughts, keeps material simple and to the point. Fast paced but keeps you going.

Quite possibly the most influential teacher I've had in 20 years. Very intelligent, yet speaks in a present day manner that is easy to understand and equate with. Fun, energetic, very, very, very passionate about humanities, gets you hooked on the subject by the second week of class. Just switched from Journalism to humanities because of him.

MR. CARY IS THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE HAD SO FAR. TAKE HIS 5WK SATURDAY CLASS. TIME FLYS BY AND YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE SAD WHEN ITS OVER. ALL OF MATERIAL TO COVER BUT DOESN'T GIVE THAT MUCH HOMEWORK. OH AND BEST OF ALL OPEN BOOK FINAL! I LOVE YOU MR. CARY!

Took professor Cary's Sat. 5 week course. It will be over before you know it. Very fair. Tests are multiple choice, but do study for them. Great professor, funny and interesting. Show up to class and you will have no problem passing this course with an A or B.

Did these last few students take the same class? Mr. Cary was always available to help, he sent out weekly e-mails to keep students updated on due dates, and he submitted feedback when requested. These last posts sound very disgruntled and are very unfair. He works extremely hard to ensure the success of his students. He's one of the best!

Donald Cary is a great teacher, he loves what he teaches, so it makes you want to listen. If you pay attention and turn in papers on time you should do just fine. He is very helpfull, always a phone call or email away if you have any questions. I've been at Valencia for a long time and he is one of the best teachers I have had.

I really thought that he was a good teacher. He is extremely smart, the only problem were the tests. I worked very hard, studied, turned in all my work and still got a C. I usually get a's and b's so this is not usual. I think the problem was that the information on the study guides is different than the actual tests. I did learn a lot though.

Strictly online. Not bad, read the requirements, watch the online video all on a Sat. and I was done for 2 weeks at a time. Questions were thought provoking but not HARD! You'll need to like reading and it's self paced, keep up with it. Grades came in late, SAVE COPIES to Word before uploading, he lost some of my stuff! but luckily I had them all!

Prof. Cary is awesome. He really loves his subject and students. He's fair and wants you to succeed. Answers phone calls :) It's not difficult reading and it's fun learning old stories/fables. Usually just one paper/questions per week with a discussion every other week. Easy class and enjoyable, good for that mandatory HUM credit!

Very into his subject. Constantly emailing his students, letting him know what is going on in the class. Great teacher! Easy going and understanding.

Cary was a thought provoking professor, though it was online and the lectures were very long. I appreciated the time he took to prepare those--most online courses want you to stare at a computer screen reading a lecture. 1st grades were received when we took our midterms, and the cycle continued for the rest of the term. He tell us he was late tho.

I took his mythology class online. There was a lot of writting. However, I really enjoyed the subject and the class. I would highly recommend taking him. Great teacher!

This Professor is amazing. The homework is challenging only because you have to think critically. I took the 5 week session of this class and I wish I could have been in there longer. He really makes you feel interested in what you're learning about and it is hard to forget his lectures. I would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone!

Interesting class and a very nice guy. However, he took three weeks to grade the papers.

Just to also clarify-- He did give very thoughtful and helpful feedback on almost all of the assignments.

Am i the only one that thinks he has way too many writing assignments? He is awesome though, tons of fun, but so far, it seems impossible to get an 'A'. One writing assignment (600 words minimum) and one discussion every week.

Online course, GREAT professor! His videos are crystal clear, perfectly laid out. He's friendly and gives feedback to everyone. There's a lot of writing, but it's a Gordon Rule class. I wish all my professor cared as much about their student's success as he does. I would definitely recommend his class.

Loved, loved, loved this professor. He mostly lectures but he makes it interesting and fun. He doesn't make it hard to pass, just do the work, think for yourself, and you'll be fine. I took a lot away from this class and I wasn't even interested in Greek/Roman History. Last day of class he brought donuts! Total sweetie!

Great teacher took online this semester. I suck in writing papers his are extremely easy. Each section 250 word essay, one research paper, and mid term and finally essay. Would recommend to anyone.

I took this class online Prof Cary is pretty easy. There is a lot of writing and he likes details in your papers. I couldn't get through the lecture videos too long for me. I did enjoy the class and I did learn. Good class overall.

Its a college level course so Yes you have to work hard Read and Write about the text or chapters There are lots of discussions& a variation of topics There are few papers but its humanities If you do the assigned work& read everything thoroughly stay organized manage your time you'll have no problems

I took for Greek/Roman Hum. hybrid and Wow this guy knows his stuff! It was a really interesting class, I really enjoyed it. He's also really nice. I actually learned some stuff and the class wasn't too hard. One of the coolest professors at valencia for sure.

Great Professor! I recommend taking this course. He keeps it interesting and thought provoking. There is a lot of writing, but it is a Gordon Rule class. I took the 6 week hybrid class and loved it. I really learned a lot from him and wished I had taken this class sooner. His lectures are really fun and interesting.

Amazing and inspiring professor! One of the best Valencia has, I only wish I could take every class with him, extremely thorough during his lectures, very comical, and explains the subject matter with a true passion that's rare today. His exams are essay questions, but each question has been discussed in class. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Loved Him

This class has to be at the top of my list of easiest online classes I've ever taken. I normally take 50% of my classes online and this has definitely been a breeze. He comments on all my work and replys pretty quickly to questions. If you can't get an A in this class, you shouldn't even be in college.

This class was very easy. 1 discussion a week, a research paper, a midterm paper and a final paper. He gives clear directions, his grading is very fair. I LOVED his feedback, he gives you feedback on all discussions and papers where you can improve. His passion for mythology is what makes the class easy. I absolutely loved this professor.

Professor Cary is simply amazing! This is my second course with him and it flew by with the modules that we have. There is a lot of writing but if you read and know what you are talking about you are sure to do great! He takes his time to let you know what he expect which makes it easier to pass the assignments!

Prof Cary is simply amazing. He is so passionate about his work and really makes you see the world differently. He is by far my favorite ever. He will work with you if you don't quite understand something and gives you plenty of time to get the homework done. Seriously amazing, would take him over again.

Did the 8wk course and was not difficult. The papers the professor request are not long, it's the thought process and getting all your information together for the paper is what's difficult, and responding to 10 classmates on discussion board. Overall, he gives lots of materials to get your information and is helpful.

Amazing Professor. one of the best here at valencia, had him in high school in literature, took his humanities class in college as well. honestly one of the nicest and sincerest teachers around. wants you to succeed and will be there for you if you need anything. excellent with feedback.

He is so passionate with everything he does, and he truly cares if you understand things or not. This class is super easy. He assigns about 4 papers, which are easy and good topics, gives about 3 discussions along with a midterm (not hard, i got a 98%) and an end of course exam (NOT ACCUMULATIVE). You won't regret choosing him!

Cary is a super easy teacher. i loved taking him but also enjoying what i learned. for our final, it was open book which helped us all! even though his class was easy he still made us all work for the grade we earned but helped us succeed! love Cary & plan to take him next semester again

A passionate professor that really puts his all into his teachings. His lectures are long but they are definitely worth the time. I would definitely recommend to take his class!

Mr. Cary is a great teacher and an amazing person overall. He is very passionate about what he talks about and doesn't "lecture" his students, he talks to them about how he feels about what we're learning. He rarely gives homework but when he does, it's doable and interesting work. Anyone who takes his class will have a great time.

Take this professor, it will not be an easy A but if you work in the assignments, discussions and papers, you will make it. Class is very interesting, some of his videos are 55 minutes long, take notes, and use them for your papers. No exams, just a paper for midterm and final one at the end of the course. I took this class online for six weeks and I actually learned a lot more than I expected. The class consisted of multiple essays and after a few weeks it became pretty tiering. I don't find myself to be the best writer but I received an A on every assignment so DO TAKE if you feel the same way. Just put in the time and effort and you'll pass.

Prof. Cary is my favorite professor I have ever taken online. He has a clear grading criteria and is always available to answer emails.

Professor Cary gives amazing feed back on every paper you submit & really wants you to understand and better understand Mythology. I completed the class online & for a flex-term but would highly recommend taking his class to anyone. He's knowledgeable & genuinely wants you to pass! I don't see how anyone can fail his class, he makes it so easy!! (:

He is a good professor but he makes you work for your grade. I would take him again since he is passionate about his job. But he doesn't give the greatest feedback and some of his assignment are difficult to understand. This class takes a lot of thought and reading. Do not take him if you just want to breeze through the class and do nothing.

Really good professor. Makes his own lecture videos which are an hour long each week. Watch them and you'll learn everything you need to know. There are a good amount of papers about 1 a week and the midterm and final are each a 5 page paper but the papers are really easy if you enjoy the material like me. If not, they are still easy since lot info

Professor Cary assigns a lot of work each week if taken online but if you follow his requirements for the discussions and assignments, you will get an easy A. Try to provide a lot of details for the assignments. No quizzes or tests, only a midterm and a final which is fairly easy if you follow the recommendations above. I passed with a 99.

I am so grateful to be in Professor Carys Mythology class. He is an amazing educator who provides really helpful feedback and grades assignments weekly. Not only is the course material profoundly interesting, his love of the subject shows through the incredible effort he puts into the organization of the class.

One of the best professors at Valencia. You're going to write a lot, but that's just how Humanities is. He really cares about his subject and wants to instill the same amount of love for mythology in his students.

An amazing professor. He cares about his work and he cares about you and will give you detailed and passionate feedback. I was late for an assignment once and he didn't even take points off. Not many assignments, but majority critical thinking and writing. If you can take off with a thoughtful essay, he will love to hear it & this class is for you!

Professor Cary was really great! This class is an easy A, discussions and a paper each week. He is very understanding and hilarious! The assignments were very interesting and I definitely learned a lot.

If you aren't into Mythology, don't take it. I took it cause I thought it would be interesting. But he does have you do a lot of essays, Discussion boards etc. And a lot of the questions he asks you get completely stumped on and ask huh? Had to do a lot of research on a lot of things.

Take him. Best Professor at Winter Park. Easy 2 read course. No book. Always available 4 students. U will write. U will think. U will learn. Midterm/Final are Essays: (2.5pg/4pg) 2 or 3 Easy "Projects". He's very understanding and cares about ur success. You won't regret it.

Awesome teacher! Tough grader if you don't do essays his way and A TON of essays , but fairly easy. Discussions are a must. no actually tests or exams besides the essays.
