Nice guy. Good at "teaching by example". Good class if trying to meet a math requirement! Not the best class if majoring in a science and need to take lots of math later! He lectures on what you need to pass the tests and final exam; but doesn't focus on creating a solid foundation for higher level math classes. But you'll still learn a lot!

I don't know what the last person was talking about as far as teaching to the test. He focuses on what is important for us to learn, both for tests and for the future. Talks about math careers a lot which I like. Very funny, which is hard to be in a math class. I didn't like math very much, but I love this class.

He's a nice guy, but he's a little boring. He has a very dry sense of humor, but he can be genuinely hillarious at times.

Real nice and real funny, but can be a bit boring at times. He kinda reminds youu of Owen Wilson (you will see what I mean if you ever have him). I enjoyed his class and I recommend him.

this class is very easy if you pay attention. the homework is optional, math test every week or 2 weeks. he is very clear and too the point and accepts any questions you have. oh yea and hes cute..

This guy is the greatest. He's clear, helpful and makes sure that you know the material. He even kind of gets to be more your friend than a teacher.

Mr. Cater is great. Awesome sense of humor and effective ways of teaching so that no one is left behind. If you need extra help (which you probably won't), he'll always stay after class and work it out with you. I'd reccomend him very highly if you are interested in taking math here.

I love this teacher! I have him for 098, and I cant wait to take 150 with him. He's very helpful and always there for his students. He makes the funniest jokes and isnt afraid to tell us some stories from his past, that will just get us enjoying class. And ladies hes not bad at all on the eyes..prolly why i am doing so well.

Awesome teacher! Great sense of humor, very helpful, and I think everyone can agree he is prolly one of the cutest teachers they have had at MCC! =) Notes are very clear, optional hw, open note quizzes and tests are not hard at all. There was no final exam and your lowest test grade is dropped! GREAT CLASS! Highly recomemd him!!!

He's great!! I actually like coming to class because he's so funny. He genuinely cares about how his students do i his class. If You need any help he's willing to stay after class with you. And he is really hot!!!

Mr. Cater is a wonderful teacher who obviously loves his job. He is funny, patient and makes math easy. Anyone who previously struggled with math or hated it should take his class.

Cater is the bomb! He is one of the great math instructor. Really helpful when needed. I will recommend him to everybody. There is only one minitab project and one extra credit minitab extra credit to boost your grade up. Other then that tests are straight forward.

I have never, ever, understood math as clearly as I did with Professor Cater. He is the nicest guy in the world and will go out of his way to help you if you need it. Very genuine. If you do all of the homework and pay attention, I don't see how anyone would fail this class. Definitely an amazing teacher, especially if math is not your strong suit.

he always started class by talking and joking with his students, and made it an easy going environment to learn math. not only was he fun but he made sure everyone in the room understood the material, if they didn't he was flexible meeting after class or before for any questions. one of the best teachers at MCC.

I like math classes, but he made math fun for math haters. Homework is optional, but obviously doing the homework will give you a better understanding of the material. Gives 5 extra points on exams if you get an 80 or above on a 10 question quiz on course compass. You can take the course compass quiz as many times as you need which is really nice.

really good prof..easy going, and his grading is relaxed..not uptight about anything...i advise taking the clas over summer if you can...tends to be a bit easier!

He lets you use note cards for tests. HW isn't graded and I never did it since I caught on so quick. Its real hard not to get a good grade since you can use a note card for tests. Take him!!

Very easy going guy. Not strict on attendance or promptness. Easy class-only use book for homework (if you do it). For chapters with a lot of formulas he gave index card to use on test. Highly recommended.

Great teacher! explains everything in detail, allows notecards on tests. Final grade is based on 4 tests, the final, graded worksheets, and 1 minitab project. Hes pretty funny and easy going. SO CUTE!!! most of his tests have atleast one extra credit question as well.

I have always failed math when I have taken it before but, I decided to give it a try and he was amazing. He is very clear in explaining and his tests are easy as long as you do the practice problems from the book. He is really nice and has a good sense of humor in a nerdy kind of way. awesome teacher, and so hot. This is my second class with him. Gives great notes, loves when students ask questions, great sense of humor. Gives graded assignments that can be kind of hard but if you can make it through them you are solid for the tests and they aren't worth a huge part of your overall grade. Tells you what will be on every test.

I had multiple math classes with Prof. Cater. He was so much enthusiastic and passionate about Math that he passed it on to his students. He was always interested and helpful to all of his students. He would stay after class to answer or explain a problem in addition to class time. He was understanding and also had a great sense of humor.

One of the best professors I have ever met. Loves math, has a great sense of humor, always ready to help and explain any questions, loves teaching and respects his students. Math may sound to someone boring; however, it is not about him and the way he is teaching. It is fun, and you will enjoy being in his class and studying the math. He is AWSOME!

I took math 104 3 times before and the highest grade I got was a D. I got a B- in his class and that was my fault not his, I just needed to study more. He makes math intresting and fun. If you need help he is there. Good teacher if you can take a class with him I would recommend him.

DC is the man. Very clear about what he expects out of you and for the most part, sticks to the course schedule. Tests are a cinch if you do the practice work. The last test of the semester is a take-home exam. Take him, very funny guy

1st off - this man is GORGEOUS!! lol I sat up front everyday and laughed at all of his jokes. But he is an AMAZING teacher. He always offers help, encourages asking questions, and there was never a time he explained something to me; and I didn't comprehend what he said. I strongly encourage doing the Suggested Problems. Is it even possible to have a awesome math professor? This guy's outstanding. He gave us two take home exams and two exams in class, no homework, no quizes. Summer class and it's amazing. I wish I could have taken 104 with him and get to know him better because this summer is flying by. Take him, he's funny and helpful!!

I am currently finishing up math 104 with this professor. I feel that by me rating him now, without receiving a final grade, my opinion can be taken serious. Professor Cater is amazing and he truly allows you to study and learn independently. He opens all the homework and test. He divides sections evenly and gives you 6 weeks for each. Awesome!

I cannot express my hatred for math. He's really great with clarity. Shows you step by step process, gives you a lot of exs, & help if you ask. Not too many assignment or tests. Has a great sense of humor & gets excited about math/shows that he loves it. His face was carved by the gods = more motivation to attend class. My favorite math profressor.

He opens the entire course the first day of class! As an adult student with other things to do this was great. I was done with the course within a few weeks. There was only homework and a few tests. Final was in person

Don Cater is amazing! I hate math, but Cater made it easy and entertaining to learn it. On top of that he's adorable and totally down to earth. Take a class with him you won't regret it.

This is the first Math class where i've been beyond successful! Took this last semester and got a D+, this semester was a B+. He is a great help and I learned so well from him! Taking him again next semester. He does have a sarcastic part about him though, I think to try & lighten the mood. :)

Professor Cater clearly explains concepts, does several examples on the board and if you listen closely will tell you exactly what you should expect to see on the tests. Example problems are just like test questions, no surprises. I thought he was genuinely amusing, he tried to make it interesting. He is not at all unpleasant to look at.

I loved his class, and math is NOT my subject. Copying his examples off the chalkboard makes doing the homework and understanding the material a breeze. He gives you all the information you could need to do well, it's just a matter of putting in the effort. He is a great professor.

Easy to learn

First off, he is very pleasant to look at. Secondly, he really LOVES math, therefore, he knows really well what he is talking about. He makes his lectures really easy to follow and is willing to answer questions.

Cater is a great explainer; he takes the time to make sure he is explaining everything in a way that everyone will understand. He always does a lot of examples on new concepts. That being said, if you're struggling with something, Cater is more than willing to help you figure it out. He really cares about his students. Not much homework, either.

He is a GREAT professor!! Very easy class, and you dont get that much homework. He explains topics very well, and has review days before tests so if you have any questions he'll be sure to answer them and clarify. Very good professor!!!

His passion for math is what interested me in learning it. He would get so excited when someone would ask a question related to the problem we were working on. He really loves math and will make the class more enjoyable ith his enthusiasm.

Professor Cater was amazing. I took him over the summer in Mth 104 after getting a D when I took Mth 104 online the previous semester. WELL WORTH IT. The homework/practice problems really helped, he's funny, and knows the material. Getting up early in the summer was not bad at all with him. and get this I ended up with a 100 on the final :)

I wish I could write a whole page on Professor Cater. By the end of MCC I will have taken him for 3 classes. From 104 to 165 it's like you never left one class. He picks up right where he left off and you can expect the same amazing teaching from him every time. When he get's excited about doing a problem it makes me excited. WONDERFUL!

Professor Cater does NOT set you up for failure. You can expect the tests to be easier than the homework and lists the types of questions that will be on the test during review. Make sure you do the graded assignments! They significantly affect your grade!

This man is an amazing teacher. He loves math and that helps. He really wants you to succeed. No question is a dumb question- he really makes you feel that way. He's one of the best math professors at MCC. He cares about his students and you can tell he's very passionate in what he does. I took him for mth104 and yet again, he hasn't disappointed. His tests are clear and you have plenty of opportunities to ask questions. I would HIGHLY recommend taking math with him!

I took MTH 104 flexible pace online with him and it was very well organized. I have never met him in person but I have spoken to him through email and he is always eager to help and very nice.

Math 165. Very easy going and realistic, only a few assignments. He makes the material very easy to learn. Also funny!

He was the best math professor I have ever had. He's a sweet, helpful guy and makes things simple. He teach right out of the book, so you will you need to buy the book. He's a bit goofy, but it adds to the atmosphere. Just do the practice problems and try and you can pass the class.

I wish I could take Professor Cater for every math course. I usually really struggle with math, but Cater teaches in a way that's really easy to understand. He's super funny, and even with my dislike of math, I found each class interesting enough to pay attention the entire time!

I took MTH 104 with Cater. Although there was not face to face interaction, when ever I emailed him a question he was always happy to help. As long as you do you work, the tests are easy and the class can be an easy A.

Very nice and straightforward professor. Bulk due dates. All homework is on MySTATLab with unlimited attempts, except for some easy data analysis reports and the final exam that must be taken on campus. Not necessary to memorize any formulas. If you can perform a hypothesis test by hand you are good.

Best math teacher. Took summer class and was sorry it ended so fast. He is smart, funny, young and understands that students have off vinous life

I was really incompetent with this class at the beginning, but the bulkiness of the coursework even though it was online, coupled with the leniency of this professor made me get back on track. I've never known math learning at one's own pace to be this effective. Great professor

Cater's explanations are clear and concise, he makes sure you understand how to do everything and wants you to succeed, I just wish every prof at MCC was like him.

Professor Cater is an amazing teacher. He really strives to teach the material in a way thats accessible for everyone no matter the level youre at personally. Work load is very manageable, quizzes are about 1 per unit, so 4 total. All in all, a very easy class to take as long as you show up and put effort in. Would take any class with him again

I have always been a horrible math student in high school, but this professor's lectures and assignments give such amazing step-by-step explanations for the questions and all questions on homework appear on test, no tricks. If you take the time to study a little, it's very easy to do great because of the the professor's lectures and assignments.

Class was not too difficult even though I suck at math entirely. Just make sure you do the assignments and understand. Simple. If there's a class in the future, I'd definitely choose him.

I wish that this class wasn't taught through Pearson, because I personally hated the Pearson videos. They did not help me at all. However, he was very considerate and willing to help me out when I was confused or behind. I wish I got to experience him in person, because he was wonderful online.

Great professor. The format remains the same each week, and tests consist of homework answers with changed numbers. He makes it very easy to review homework the next day to ensure everyone understands. Great professor.
