Great guy. Tough teacher. Unfortunately, he left to move back to Chicago, IL. (I believe that's where).
Great Teacher
He was an AWESOME teacher - really made you think! He was very energetic and loved teaching!
Very good teacher and very entertaining, but the tests are IMPOSSIBLE! I had never received anything less than a B until I took that class. Good if you want to learn political science, bad for GPA. His tests make O chem look easy.
Best prof. I've ever had. I enjoyed going! If he's available, take it now!
His tests are difficult, but he is extremely knowledgable about what he teaches. If you get the chance and want to learn take his class.
THIS GUY KNOWS THIS STUFF, and if nothing else is fun to listen to and watch during class. However, this tests are very hard.
Very good teacher, intersting lectures, very funny. He is arrogant, but very inteligent. Test are fairly chalenging if you dont read the book because much of the lecture is not from the text. You wont be board if you take his classes.
Tips to get an A... pay attention in lecture and join the Republican Club... worked for me! Warning: Very Very Far Right
EXTREMLY AWESOME PROFESSOR, HE KNOWS HIS STUFF. MAKE SURE YOU GO TO CLASS AND TAKE GREAT NOTES. IT WILL HELP ON TESTS
Study!! If you pay attention, take notes, and read the book the tests aren't that hard. Epps knows his stuff and isn't ashame to share his opinions.
tests are extremely hard. he is arrogant, loves to hear himself talk. he's very bias towards republicans, and he makes fun of democrats every day for 30 min. he encourages discussion, but argues with kids and puts them down. very disappointed
He's smart, but very biased and can't see any point of view but his own.It can get very frustrating for someone who actually has an open mind.Hint for liberals: talk with him after class! As long as you have a point and accurate info, he'll respect your opinion and he'll give you a better grade!

gave hard final-has a nice body-could look at his teeth all day-gorgeous. i like the way he smells-smokey. gave good lectures.
This prof knows his stuff. People accuse him of being biased, when in fact after years of research and studying he has come to proper conclusions. He lets people (esp. liberals) know what is going on and backs it up well. Some immature students thought it would be funny to vandalize his car...
I absolutely LOVE this teacher, yes, his tests are hard, but if you read the book and goto to class and take good notes, you'll get an A pretty easily.

Wow, great teacher! He really knows his stuff and if you talk to him it's hard to get away: his conversations really suck you in. Best teacher that I've ever had.
Wow, Epps is a great teacher. He really knows his facts and there is a reason why he is biased against Democrats: he is easily able to poke holes in their rhetoric. Hopefully he's caused some people to realize the errors in their ways with his well-founded arguments.
He only stuck to his own political ideas and I worked my ass off and got a frickin B. Take a dif. poltical science teacher @ Century.
Tough professor. Very tough. He openly admits that most people in his class will be working hard to get a C (he feels that when the average grade in a school is B that grade inflation is occuring). He really opens your eyes to the political realm. He sticks to his own ideas, but his reason changed me from liberal to conservative.
If you are a sensitive democrat you will want to avoid this class. Seriously, I mean it. If you are anything else or even a politically curious democrat (like me), then take it. He is very smart and interesting. Quirky too, but I found it sexy. Tests are hard but if you really study the text you will do good. I missed tons of class and got a B.
What a breath of fresh air. After listening to my insipid liberal professors pontificating about how evil families, freedom, straight people, and Christianity are. I finally found some real diversity at Century - Diversity of Thought.

Interesting class, the tests are killer, but he's a fun teacher--full of funny stories and jokes to keep the students entertained.
Epps is a great instructor. It's good to see a different point of view at a place where you wouldn't expect. He knows his stuff, is fair, and very articulate. If you go in with an open mind you will learn a ton.
Hardcore, black, republican, who wooda thought. really interesting class, tests are very difficult
This class is worth taking just to see Epps hand it to those who lack facts and logic. If you've got a point he'll respect you, but if your making up stuff and distorting things for your own agenda, your screwed. Great class, interesting, Fun.

Absolutly great teacher...He knows his facts so you better know yours if you are going to debate with him. It's nice to actually see a conservitive prof. in a Minnesota school!!!!
Epps was awesome! About time some professors were Republican. If I have to listen to liberal dribble from every other professor, then it's about time to have someone tell the other side. Epps takes a side in what he believes, best conservative prof I've had, and one of very few.
I currently attend UMD I am just begining me third year. However being from Shoeview I attended Century collage and to this day have to say that Donald Epps is the finest professor that I have ever had during my college career. I am not gonna say that I am a republican or democarate because I am neither, however,I appricate his honesty in poly sci
He wasnt too hard, no homework just 4 tests. Stadium seating, so you can look at the answers of the smart person in front of you. He babbles alot about his home and his dog and how he goes to the bars to drink milk. Also, I feel like I have known his mother for years. Take the class for an easy passing grade.
If you are a liberal who is easily offended, I would NOT Recommend this class. Epps is a staunch conservative, and spends A LOT of class time letting you know it. I spent a good deal of time arguing with him. He's a fun, interesting guy, and it's refreshing to hear from the other side for a change.
The guy seems pretty up-beat, and easy going but his tests are hard.
Hard tests!!!

BEST PROF AT CENTURY! He completely changed my viewpoints on the government. I'll admit, I used to be liberal until I had Epps, and realized the direction of the country. His teaching style is mostly lecture and the TESTS ARE HARD (he doesn't believe in grade inflation)! But you'll learn a lot from him.

To be honest, every liberal in the class has been put to shame. I just love how "the other side" can't actually rate his teaching, just his viewpoints, and slandering his political party. Leave it to a liberal to do that. Epps gives pretty hard tests, but is one of the most well-informed teachers in the school, and I learned a lot from him.

I've never seen Epps act like any of what the poster below describes. Most profs at most colleges are completely biased towards the right and like to shut up conservatives. Everytime I've seen someone present a contrary view to his, he blows it out of the water, and then laughs about it after class.
If you're hoping for an interactive learning experience, skip this class it is all lecture. He has a nice grade set-up it's all tests and can drop your two worst scores. He does a nice job of showing the applicability of the information in the "real world"; however, as others have said he can be offensive.
SO REFRESING to FINALLY have a professor with some common sense!!! other classes make me want to shoot myself in the foot with the extreme left-thinking. i LOVED having someone show us the other side of things. this class really re-sparked my interest in political science. it also pissed off a lot of liberals...
One of the best

Tests are very difficult -- make sure that you read the text throughly and COME TO CLASS! A lot of people skip, and he includes a lot of material in lectures on the tests. He does a good job of explaining what all viewpoints are, but makes it very clear about what his viewpoints are and why. He challenges thinking, so beware.
Remarkably intelligent professor who provides entertaining lectures. Tests are relatively difficult as the answers are frequently arbitrary at best. The test questions most often do not have you demonstrate an understanding of the material, but rather mandate a dogmatic memorization of opinions derived directly from the text.
Good teacher but hard tests.
yeah, I loved taking his class, but I didn't do so well on the tests. Make sure you read the chapter at least two times. He made me laugh a lot cuz he gets some people really mad.
If you are moderate/liberal and easily offended, this prof is not for you! I am pretty liberal myself, and I enjoyed his teaching immensely. He is very opinionated, but well read, which is a fresh change from most professors, and allows you to think more. The tests are hard, attend class and read. Grades are weighted you may do better than u think
This guy is a real prick. He is a conservative a**hole who thinks he knows everything. Tests were worded in ways to make you fail.
Fantastic teacher. Political alignment aside, he is a VERY knowledgeable and interesting guy. Listen in class, combine notes with textbook reading and you'll do fine. Tests are the only grade, so make sure to study and ask questions.
You either like him a lot or you hate him. I liked him, but that may be because I agree with his political views.
Professor Epps is AWESOME. He is very conservative, and isn't afraid to make that clear as he lectures. Test are are hard and require a lot of close attention to both the textbook and lectures. He is fun and approchable outside of class. The class overall is hard, but you learn a lot.
I don't know why some people find Epps so difficult. He outlines eveything you need to know for a test a day or two in advance, I barely skimmed chapters in the book and got an A. Listen to him and write down his examples. He's not afraid to defend his conservatism either, if you speak up, so will he. Fair enough. He's always up for a hearty debate
Wonderful teacher, but very hard class. He clearly teaches what he's talking about, but a lot of material is covered. He has a unique and fun personality, and a great understanding of politics. Only take this class if you're seriously ready to study and learn.
He's a parrot spouting off Fox News talking points. Ann Coulter meet Epps.
Tests were super hard. He taught the class like it was an adv. polsi class when it wasn't.
He is a nice guy and funny at times but the entire Intro to Political Science class was polluted with his personal conservative opinions. I figured the idea was to be objective.. but not here.
HORRIBLE!! if you want to drop your gpa, take this class! you have to go to every lecture, memorize the book/online exercises/and outlines. class average of tests were never above 60%. NOT KIDDING HERE!! SERIOUSLY!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
Great Professor...very hard but good and Conservative. He doesn't give you the normal Liberal Crap.
He is a really great prof. Knows alot about his feild. VERY VERY VERY conserative and it shows in lecture. Over all the class was great, so was his teaching, the test are hard but not if you study the recommended 2hrs a day that he says is what you need. over all great prof great class, but it was hard.
Fav. prof. of my entire college career -- interesting lectures, avail. and open to debate. Tests are difficult, but passable if you attend, note take, read text.
Lecture is different from the book. Test is hard. Attend class doesn't help at all on the test. Horrible class that I've ever took. Not Recommended.
I don't normally slam a teacher because we all have our own personal preferences but seriously he was the WORST teacher I've EVER had. He was absolutely RUDE and HARSH when I asked him to clarify something on the assignment and when HE made a mistake on the test, he seriously YELLED at me. Do NOT TAKE HIM! HE'S EVIL!!
dont take classes with him
He knows his history.. but he is a extreamly hard teacher to understand when it comes to his tests/quizes.
He knows his stuff when it comes to American Govt. but he can get vary conffusing when it comes to his quizes. if you are lookinhg 4 a chaling course this is the class 4 you but if u are looking 4 a easy history class this is most deffintly not 4 you
Awesome prof - challenging and opinionated, but refreshing.
THIS CLASS IS HARD. I got an A in it but it took a lot of effort. Average grade for him has to be like a D. He is super conservative don't agrue with him even if he's wrong he'll just yell at you until you stop talking. Study from the book and pay attention in class its the only way to learn. His tests are all mulitple choice and CONFUSINGGGGG!!!
Extraordinary professor. Very clear and informative. Very interesting to speak with, knows his trade well.
I really liked Epps, but barely got a passing grade. I attended every class and did all of the extra assignments but since the whole grade is calculated in what you get on the tests, I got a very bad, but passing grade. He is a great guy, but unless you are a good tester, it is difficult to get a good grade, even if you study.
He can be hard class, but overall his classes are pretty easy
Epps is incredibly hard to take as a teacher, but is really amazing to listen to. Bias, yes, because his politics are the same as mine, and it's really nice to hear intellectually informed politics from a black conservative. He's really funny, but his handwriting can be a little challenging to read... If you're liberal and defensive, dont take Epps
Great professor awesome conservative that out the liberals in their place without being offensive
he openly bashed liberals and by the end of every class i would leave shaking with anger. he gets off topic easily!!!! i actually got better grades when i stopped attending class except for test days.... i got my grade up from an F to a C by not attending class!!! LIBERALS STAY AWAY!!!!!
Did the bulk of my school's AP curriculum, so I know a hard class. Goes off on tangents during lecture, doesn't cover more than 30% of the actual test content in lecture. Class average for last test was 61%, this test was 52%. Expect to do a LOT of book reading to pass with an A. If you get higher than a C in his class, buy a lottery ticket.
he was the worst teacher i've taken at century! materials covered in class wasn't covered in exams. he's very biased, and there were a couple of times when he and another student went at each other.
By far my favorite professor at century college. If you are an ignorant liberal you had better do your research before taking this class or you will be put in your place.
Ignorant Liberals??? Seems as though Epps has taught some of you very little. There are TWO sides to the coin. I learned this through my new AM GOVT instructor and am doing well. Very difficult BIASED instructor. NEVER taught from book. EVERYDAY went on a tangent far from course material. TESTED on NOTHING covered in class. Funny guy but very WRONG
Epps spends far more time bashing liberal ideals than he does teaching or explaining them. THERE ARE PROS AND CONS TO EVERY IDEAOLOGY. You will learn no CONS of conservatism. WHY? This would require MR EPPS to question his own ideals. He is VERY EDUCATED in politics. He will use this to his advantage to make you THINK he is right in a debate.
Fairly interesting guy, although pretty much all I learned was how to work EXTREMELY hard for a mediocre grade in addition to his biased views.
Actually a pretty difficult course, mainly because the tests wording can be interesting at times. Does let you drop two tests, but still expect to work hard to get a high grade. As many have said, an extremely biased conservative in lecture, but his tests were all on the readings so it was annoying but bearable.
I've enjoyed reading all the comments by students who bash Don Epps for his conservative views. It's interesting that these same students often cannot support their own liberal ideas because they are just repeating what they have heard without questioning. Don Epps makes you think about what you believe. There's more to a good teacher than grades.
Very educated man.. I def agree with a lot of his views :) tests are HARD!! Make sure you read the chapters you test on.. I definitly learned A LOT in this class..
Interesting man love his views on taxes. There will be another election for president that I learned for this man. Don't agree completely will everything that is said but its politics ladies and gentlemen. He is here to teach about the truth. He is also a sports fan on the side which makes him cool. If you want a challenge take his class.
Very well educated in the subject matter, but also holds firm opinions and has a tendency to share them frequently. If you can't handle people with legitimately differing opinions from your own, avoid his class, but he is very informative and has quite a few interesting stories to tell. Grade based almost entirely on tests, 2 lowest scores dropped
Took his online class and apparently unlike his in person classes he was not very opinionated. Also not particularly responsive online. Grading was based on exams with the 2 lowest scores dropped.
Mr. Epps was a very good teacher. I will agree that his tests are extremly hard. I had to take book notes read chapters multiple times and also take his lecture notes. I dont think he cares if you come to class but you will be lost if you dont. Plus he is a great lecturer. Very smart opinionated man. He grades on a curve!
Taking class from Epps is a good college experience. His tests are only moderate in difficulty if you are diligent in studying the text. For everyone who is griping about his opinions, you are only upset because his biases do not match your own!
Solid teacher. He's opinionated, but backs up his reasoning with factual evidence most of the time. He's also got a lot of great stories and keeps the lectures entertaining.
Hard class, super tester, the test start out hard then get easier at the end. Do not take if you are sensitive liberal, female or older.Very opionated. But also very helpful if you can get his attention.
Professor Epps is a scatter-brained lecturer and a difficult tester, but very fair and good preparation for more demanding college classes. Beware your first test -- take extensive notes on every name that pops up, every quote, and the basic info. HINT: there is a positive correlation between the amount of notes you take and your grade.
Epps is extremely conservative. I am also conservative, but it got old to listen to him blame the world on Democrats everyday. Interesting topics at first, extremely boring by the end. Take notes on lectures, he usually takes some of lecture and puts it on tests, but mostly it's straight from the book. He tends to push back test dates a lot.
I was not a fan of him at all. Like the previous poster said below me, he constantly bashes democrats to the point where it is sickening. At times, he comes off as rude as well. Advice: Attend class, study as much as possible and you'll get a C or higher. If you don't do that, don't sign up for the class; You'll just drop out or get a D or lower.
HARD TESTS OVERALL IT WAS FUN
He is a good teacher but hard if you can not comprehend college level reading material. Most of the people who do not care for his class are liberals who do not agree with him. Others do not care for him because they actually have to work hard to get a good grade. He tests from book material, so read the chapters and you will be fine.
The previous person assessment is wrong! Epps is a poor teacher that doesn't care! He uses a poorly edited text book and uses a question bank provided by the text book maker for test questions, these questions a worded very badly(like a 4th grader that doesn't know what there asking).
Epps sucks!! Most people in the class didn't like his teaching methods. He would lecture about non-coarse material and then give a anal test. A person really needs to be able to memorize a 20-30 page chapter word for word to do well in this class!
Wow, just got done reading all of the comments on Don... Here is the truth. He is a TAKE HIS CLASS you will learn alot. The test can be a little tricky, but everything comes straight from the book,so I dont see where some of you that rated him are coming from. If you want to get a good grade, WORK FOR IT!his job is teach you not cuddle you!great guy!
If you read the book and show up to class you will do fine. If you don't then you will be one of the low scores...pretty simple stuff people
I took his class online. The material is not difficult at all, but his tests seem to be extremely deceptive. I am an A-honor student...I got a C in this class.
Do yourself a favor and study very hard on the first few tests to understand his style of test questions. also HIGHLIGHT EVERY NAME AS YOU READ!! trust me this will be VERY helpful. He gives questions that you would not expect, after the first two test you'll know what i'm talking aout. so read VERY carefully
I had a difficult time with his online class, which was entirely reading and exams. The exams surprised me by how hard they were to score well on. The course and material seemed fairly well-organized, but he wasn't always easy to correspond with. Sometimes it took him a long time to respond to a question.
look out-super hard class! straight A student and really struggled with his reading assignments and his exams are suicide. needed government as an elective will not take him again. He only does exams and readings which you think would be nice but its really hard. The chapters are long- about 50-75 pages.
Took the class online. I had no interaction with him at all. The class was all a) read the chapter and b) take the online test. His syllabus makes him seem kind of scary, but since I never had to contact him with issues, it wasn't a big deal. I think if you follow his instructions and READ THE BOOK you'll do fine.
A very incompetent teacher. Online class is not run effectively. Be prepared to read 40-60 page chapters, then turn around and take a test on it, about 12 times; and there you have it, the entire class. Good luck ever trying to get in contact with him, its impossible. Do not take this class by this teacher. You will regret it! Hope this helps!
If you aren't a tea party republican be prepared to talked down to. Thought I was taking American Government, not how to be a staunch republican. I took the online version of his class, and it was read, exam, read, exam which i have no problem with except 30% of the questions weren't found in the text so good luck.
Some think he's a staunch right wing conservative but he's not, just a realist (and this is coming from a lib democrat). Very knowledgeable and insightful. Lectures are always very interesting and informative. He doesnt coddle u like in h.s so take him only if u actually want to learn. The quizzes were hard but made u study at the college level.
Wouldn't recommend this class because of the tests. Interesting lectures but tests are hard. It wasn't worth it. Lots of people also did bad on the tests in the class too.
I'm interested in politics yet this teacher would require students to learn unrelated things. Also in order to do well in his class you need a photographic memory. Test questions ask not for the concept of things but for the exact wording of obscure sentences from within the text book (ridiculous).
The only way you get points is via tests (8 per sem)- VERY HARD! Conservative, but not any more biased than liberals. Has a habit of saying "I knew ___ would happen.." If you're good at testing, you should be good. Class average was 43%, so it's demanding. You either like him or you don't, andfor all his faults, I actually enjoyed class and style.
His tests were very difficult and almost entirely based on the textbook. Sometimes he would ask questions on minute details of a chapter, which was a bit frustrating. I didn't really care for his lectures because he was often condescending, and it wasn't a very good environment for asking questions. I'm definitely happy to be done with his class.
This was a very difficult class and was an incredibly difficult teacher to work with. Expect chapter tests every week and one extra credit quiz. This class is extremely demanding and I would not recommend this class to anyone.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone interested in politcal science...He is very rude. I have him as an online course, but through online discussion and emailing, he will not explain anything to you and will yell back at you through the internet. He uses exclamation points to show you his annoyance of you. Very rude man.
Took his online political science class. I am normally a straight A student. All this class involved was reading two chapters a week, and then taking tests on those chapters. The problem was that his questions were nit-picky, and sometimes not even correct, per the book.No lectures. Minimal communication.Got the credit- but nothing else out of it.
Epps is a great teacher, and has a very interesting class. He pulls no punches and you are not going to slide by here. It's not easy. Very high educational value for your dollar. If you don't find the subject interesting, you might find this to be a tough class. Otherwise, great opportunity to expand your understanding of politics/government
The class was horrible. I slept in the class most days because the lectures were so long, and one time a student challenged Epps with a question and he was VERY defensive. He says he is a republican, and the worst part about that is the bias information the students get. His tests didn't relate to his note, and his lectures weren't clear.
I was really looking forward to this Political Science class. I find Mr.Epps to be extremely rude & disrespectful. I felt a strong need to rate Mr. Epps. His behavior & attitude shouldn't be tolerated & I hope students will start reporting him to head administration at Century College. I think he's in the wrong profession..He should be a prosecutor
Awesome lecture, must take! Die hard republican and will let you know it the minute you walk through the door. Liberals beware ;) Do your homework before you debate anything with him or he will eat you alive! He's not being mean, he's antagonizing you into doing more homework and becoming more involved in politics. Fairly easy class, just show up!
Extremely easy class consisting of about 12 tests (nothing else). This of course is for the online class. Easy credit. Didn't learn much though. Professor I heard is rude, but only to ignorant students who do not read directions!I never studied once, but used the book and other sources for each test and got an A.
This teacher spends most of class ranting about absurd political nonsense he hears on FOX news. I'm not a Democrat, but even I know not to listen to FOX. He won't tell you what you missed if you were gone. He told my class he wants only 1 or 2 people to get an A or B. I went to every class, took pages of notes, studied for every test and have a C.
His exams are fair and well-written, but hard. He is not very friendly or helpful, but there is something to be said for fairness and being very clear on what is expected.
I loved professor Epps! The class is very hard, but a good type of challenging. He is very knowledgeable. Encourages the college level learner to work hard. If you are determined enough you will get a good grade!
Exams were more in-depth than the level of information proffered by the textbook; but all info was to be derived from the text- Epps didn't teach at all. Additionally, he was awful at returning emails, which was the only form of communication! The class isn't the toughest, but the teacher is bad!
Took online summer course. His tests are difficult, to score well on them I recommend reading it thoroughly and pay attention to most minute details! Tests can be tricky due to wording. He is TERRIBLE at responding to questions or concerns!!! Syllabus & expectations are clearly set early in course. DO NOT TAKE ONLINE if you don't have time to study
Please take my advice and do not take this class with Epps! I am a straight A, 4.0 student, and this class ruined that for me! Even if you read the book, take lecture notes, and study like crazy, it's still useless! Class averages on tests are D's. Please find another professor!
Excellent teacher!!
Epps is the WORST teacher ever! DO NOT TAKE HIM, he does not reply to emails nor does he cares about his students. Grades based on 10 quizzes, that's it-nothing else.
I am not a fan. Attendance was not said to be mandatory, but a few students left early and he took points off their grades. I also attended every class, read the book, AND studied, but only received a C. His political position is obvious and he provides no outside assistance. Don't take him unless you have to.
WORST TEACHER EVER IF YOU EVEN THINK OF TAKING THIS COURSE CALL ME AT 651-274-3739 I WILL TALK U OUT OF IT THERES TOO LITTLE SPACE HERE TO TELL YOU OF ALL HIS ATROCITIES ITS MORE THAN STALIN, MAO, AND HITLER I LEARNED THAT MUCH!!!!! SERIOUSLY CALL ME ANY TIME OR LEAVE A MESS ILL CALL YOU BK DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS RUN THE OTHER WAY IF U SEE HIM!!!
I took his online course and he did not give our class much thought. Everything was atuomatic so he did not have to go on to check out the class or grades. He said that if any of us had questions, email him or send him a private discussion message, but he never responded to any of them. All we did was read chapters from the book and take tests.
Challenging professor. If you are a close-minded liberal, your head may explode.
At first I was skeptical of Professor Epps, but now I do honestly believe that Professor Epps is great. To do well in his class you will actually have to read your text book and study/take notes on it also attend his classes and lectures. I really enjoyed how he tied in what we were learning with current events! He is very skeptical and observant!
Oh my god run. He is very one sided and it is made obvious right away. Little to no communication. Little discussion about topics that are being tested on.
I am straight A 4.0 student and never did so bad in a class or studied so hard before ever! I got D's and C's on the trick question tests and decided to just drop the class. He is knowledgeable but you will do terrible in his class! do not take him if you don't have to. worst teacher ever.
Although this teacher is a stud, he style of teaching is confusing, commonly off topic, and biased. His test are unconventionally confusing with questions that may have more than one right answer. Epps also considers a 65% average a decent score. So if you want to drop your GPA, then i would encourage you to take it, if not stay far away.
LOVE MY AMERICAN GOV CLASS! Epps is awesome. This is probably the only chance you will EVER get in your college experience to be taught by a black conservative; it will be eye opening. It is very possible to pass this class if you read the chapter, online resources, and take notes on what he says in lectures, not just what he writes on the board
Only quizzes. No assignments. Quizzes have 30 hard questions from book, you get 50 min. to take, which is NOT enough time! Don't like reading? then goodluck! Epps horrible instructor. He provides you with syllabus, and leaves you for the whole semester, returns back to post up your "D", then leaves. Don't bother emailing him, he will not reply.
Thanks Don for you're real world analysis with critical thinking. I often think of your stories. Yes your class is convoluded and that it is unfortunate, but no whining here.
Here's the truth. Passing this class with more than a C requires reading the material. Passing with an A requires reading and taking notes. Most people don't have the willingness to do either (even though they're in college). He's an honest, intelligent professor. His class is difficult, but straight forward. Don't expect to breeze through.
This guys is a huge jerk. He loves to watch his students fail and doesn't seem to care at all! His tests are extremely difficult (Im a 4.0 student and I am currently getting Cs on his tests). He loves to put trick questions on tests too. Very Biased, so is the textbook. Avoid this man like the plague!!!
Professor Donald Epps is somewhat crazy and loves to go on political rants that are not relevant to lecture at all. You are tested on material straight out of the textbook, so do expect to read.
theres basically no way to pass the tests without using your book. take good notes and maybe even work together with a friend tbh
I took a class given by Epps about 6 years ago and would take more if they were available. Requires reading and paying attention (you know, basic grow up and be a college student stuff). Clearly defined expectations and a willingness to help make sure the material is understood, if you are willing to ask for help (another basic college skill).
Very difficult teacher, but honestly one of the most influential in my understanding of the political world. He is extremely knowledgeable and explains everything he is talking about. Textbook is essential to passing and take good notes from it. I may not have gotten the best grade, but the information I learned sticks with me.
I took 3 classes with Mr. Epps, and he changed my life. I learned more about international politics and national civics in those 9 credit hours than I had in the 20+ years preceding. Yes you will do a lot of reading, and yes the tests are difficult but he gives you all the answers and was almost always accessible both during and post office hours
