This guy claims to have invented College English. He is on a huge ego trip, and his coursework is far outside the boundaries of an english 101 class. Everyone I knew in the class disliked him.
i took his class for teacher cert, he taught me nothing 'cept that a professor can be an extremely useless source of torture. ironically, he doesn't teach anything useful about being an english teacher, probably because he doesn't know how to be one
As a student who graduated in 2001 with a 4.0 GPA, I can honestly say he is the most arrogant and lazy professor at Ramapo. He is unclear, thoughtless and obviously cares nothing for his students. It's time to retire, Don!
he's great if you know how to work, this guys not an easy teacher, you have to do work, what a concept?!?!

Fucci is an enthusiastic professor who knows so much about literature. I have taken 4 classes with him and think he is great. He loves to teach and works very hard and is always prepared and thurough in the subjuect matter
While he thinks highly of himself, I didn't find him hard at all. With no tests and just 5 papers, which he will correct for you before you hand them in for a grade, it wasn't bad at all. You are gonna have to read, he is all about class participation.
He knows what he's talking about, he's very well prepared and all his hmwk. consists of reading. In his class u just have to do papers. He likes when u participate. He is a hard grader. He is very strick to his work yet i believe he is a great prof.
He's hilarious and shows great movies!

a good teacher, however he is a very hard grader beware take his class only if you are a good writer and you know what you are talking about just think before you take him he is good but there is a lot of eaiser college english teachers.
Dr. Fucci is a very interesting teacher. His lectures are not boring at all. However, if you are not looking for a challenge do NOT TAKE HIM! If you are willing to work hard, you will definitely love him and you will pass the class. Funny man.
The Best.
He's brilliant. Enough said.
He made me cry in class (and I am not a crier) because he ripped my presentation apart. I was supposed to interpret a poem, and I happened to pick his favorite- he did inspire me - rewrote paper, defending my interpretation - got an A for class.
Outstanding professor. Intimidating at first, but incredibly brilliant. Helpful, willing to challenge you to raise your standards. DO NOT take for an easy grade.
One of the hardest essay graders I have encountered. Brilliant man, goes off on many tangents, some of them fascinating. Very friendly and helpful. Final is very difficult, it was open book, however we were not given enough time to complete it.
Either I was born in the wrong generation or he was...because I'm convinced he's the love of my life...if he were only 30 years younger!!!
He's a brillant man. Its a writting intensive coarse so has to make you write a lot but he tries to be helpful about it. Keeping up with the reading is important. So theres a lot of work but he tries to make it easy and help you.
Really interesting and very very smart. His tangents are annoying, but you learn a lot about him, if that's a plus. Extremely helpful with essays. Expects a lot out of his students and is really challenging. you LEARN in this class
does not like students who disagree with him.
Intimidating at first-threatens how little people get A's or even solid grades.I looked elswhere and got stuck. However, it was good that I stayed. Makes writing difficult and challenging in a fun way-creates a drive for prefection. Flexible on due dates.
Very intelligent teacher. Expect to work hard, but you'll be able to develop really good writing skills.
one of the best professors you'll have. be prepared to work:HARD! but in the end, you'll be so gretful for having him. he's such an intelligent man who teaches you even when you don't think you're learning
He is one of the smartest people I have ever met, however, is not a good teacher. He is a very difficult grader, as if he wants all freshman to write like PhD students. He is not clear about what he wants in the papers. Only take him if all else fails!!
Brilliant man, taught me 5-6 Shakespeare plays in one summer session which I am confortable saying I read and understand. That alone is an amazing accomplishment. Is very hard to persuade with papers, so make sure you have a well supported and logical argument...or you won't do well
one of the hardest professors on campus but one of the few amazing people you'll ever meet. you'll hate him while you're in his class because of all the work but you'll LOVE him when you're finished. he'll teach you so much more than you expected to learn. GREAT MAN!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Fucci is probably the hardest teacher on campus. He is very intelligent and spends most of the class talking about what he knows and then saying how do you not know that thats common sense. The first day he told us that our opinions do not matter - this teacher is crazy, I do not recommend him
he was the best teacher...he helped our class become the best writers we could be! i will never forget him...i think everyone should take his class! i loved having him
This prof. is incredibly hard, but teaches you alot. he's entertaining so there are days when you dont want to stop a discussion, and does value your opinion in discussions, but not necessarily on your papers. Great Professor. VERY SMART... but if you're not willing to work hard Do NOT take him.
He's awesome

This professor ROCKS. if you're not willing to work for your grade you won't get one. He teaches you everything you have to know, after taking his class all your papers will be a piece of cake. he's really smart too. you will never forget him.
Dr. Fucci is one of Ramapo's top ten best profs. He's absolutely brilliant! At times he's a little unclear about what he wants in papers, but if you discuss your topic with him he'll be very helpful.
Its pronouced Few-See. Dr. Fucci is one in a million. learned so much.. You should not be allowed to graduate until you have taken this course. Very lenient with due dates- nice guy.. Funny too. An entertaining class, even though its about literature.
hardest professor ever. good guy. hard to get even a b on a paper.
Awesome professor. Not easy, but you can learn a lot. The man knows EVERYTHING! He's funny and entertaining. Two papers with very general topics, but they weren't so hard. Very lenient with due dates. Really wants his students to learn and understand. One of the best professors I've ever had!
Um... what? Can you say easy D? Although he is extremely intelligent and a kind, caring person, the workload is rough if you're schedule is packed with tough classes. I barely made it out of there with a B- His college english class is not for you if you're busy taking a ton of other rough courses.
excellent teacher who is brilliant If you want to learn about shakespeare and you are a literature major this is the teacher to learn everything with Hard but fair and brilliant Will make a scholar out of you
Great Teacher. Very intelligent, knows what he is doing. The downside to this is that the work load is tough, though nothing incredibly difficult. If your into Shakespeare than take this class, he won't let you down.
Great guy, very lenient with due dates, easy to talk to. Possibly the best teacher at Ramapo.. if you havent taken him yet you should go to the registrar and tell them you cannot graduate yet! You must take a class with Donald Fucci!
Really hard grader and knows what he wants. Very easy going about due dates for papers but expects a lot. Totally will help you when you have problems with papers and so easy to talk to. Deff worth the expierence because he is easily one of the best professors at Ramapo but one of the top 3 hardest graders at the school.
mad love for fuc. take him just for the sake of taking him. its worth it, hardcore style.
UGH! BAD teacher! Wants all the papers you write catered to HIS opinion only. He was my freshman year teacher and only bad memories remain. YUCK!!
Dr. Fucci is a great professor, I took him for EOF College English and we completed 4 months of class in 6 weeks. I can really say I learned so much in his classroom. He is a difficult for beginners but his class I would say is for people that want to do well.
GREAT PROF!! on my first paper i got a C- and was completely pissed but i sat down with him and talked about what was wrong, he explained, i rewrote it and got a B-. I ended up getting a B+ in his class. He is brilliant and makes you want to know about what is going on in the world rather than just going from class to class.
I regret the three times that i have taken this man's classes. his expectations of undergrad students are too high. i busted my ass getting the papers for this class done, and i got them proofed by two teachers, still received poor grades for the classes. he lectures about how we shouldnt worry about school and enjoy life but doesnt allow it.

He's the best. You shouldn't be able to graduate with a literature major unless you have taken him. Anyone who doesn't like him is a moron or a fool or both.
I took him for Survey of Brit. Lit. If you are not a Literature major, don't take him. He is a very hard grader and does not explain detailed enough what he wants in his papers. The class is a lot of work, especially if you are looking for a better grade than an A. 5 Papers, quizzes, and a cumulutive final.
wow he's the worst professor i've had in my life. he tells us that we are all going to fail the entire class period, rambles on about nothing and i just dream that i am somewhere other than in class..its terrible! he reads straight from the text and has no clue what he is talking about and is very pompous and thinks he knows everything.
SO HARD! if you want alot of work, take fucci. Hes actually a nice man, but he expects WAY too much for a Gen Ed. He likes people that are knowlegeable about nyc, theater, classical music and classic novels. Quizzes are KILLER! If you dont do the reading, hes not scared to fail you.
Fucci can be a bit abbrasive, but is one of the most intelligent men you'll meet. He's been criticized for making you pay attention to the Times and recreational activites in the city, but he's only trying to make you a more culturally-aware person.
Great guy, hard grader. I would say he expects too much for College English. Miss more than 6 classes and he'll fail you. Your grade is based on 4 papers (1 final research paper counts twice) and a project that counts as a paper also. MUST DO READINGS and they are very hard to understand!!
HE IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER. BUT ALSO VERY STRICT AND DOES NOT CARE "WAHT YOU THINK OR YOUR OPINION". VERY HELPFUL..MAKES YOU UNDERSTAND THINGS CLEARLY AND MAKES YOU LOOK BEYOND OF WHAT YOU READ... I RECOMMEND THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE REALLY TRYING TO LEARN..OTHERWISE..KEEP IT MOVING!!!
Good guy and a really good profesor. He is hard, but that is what motivates his students to do better. I had him twice, and I learned a lot in both classes. He is the best prof. in the English department.
This guy is wonderful. He is funny and enjoyable. He is very smart and can talk about any thing. He is a TOUGH grader and is broad on paper topics. I think he is worth taking
He's definitely got high standards and expects a lot but he really knows his stuff so it makes sense. you'll learn a lot but will never be able to read his handwriting. do the readings
this guy is a great teahcer. he talks...a lot, but it's always something interesting,, if not fun or amusing. he's a tough grader but he gives you a chance to revise your papers and then averages the two grades. he actually makes it fun to do shakespeare. take his class!
Good luck if you ever get him ... you'll need it. Get ready for the all nighters.
DON'T DO IT!! if you take him you'll hate yourself for it later. impossible standards. nice guy and kind of interesting but is never clear on what he wants... your paper will be your whole grade but he'll deduct if you don't do all the other assignments too. stay away...really!
Amazing teacher, probably the best I've ever had. He is extremely challenging, but you should be up for it if you're a college student. :P He's really great, really has you doing the best work you can possibly do. You leave the classes relieved and reviitalized, you'll never have to worry about writing another paper again because they'll be cake.
He isn't helpful at all. He contradicts himself all of the time. Avoid if possible.
Arguably the best professor at Ramapo. I would not suggest Dr. Fucci to any student outside of the Literature major for two reasons: He demands you do a lot of reading in a relatively short time, and he is a very particular grader.
The class is a lot of reading with three papers. The format is reading the play then discussion and then watching the film version. Not a hard class but paper topics are very vague as he wants you to have a part in what you write about. Critical grader.
This is an easy calss but I must warn you: You have to memorize all the Kings of England & their kids in order. If you pass it doesn't count towards your grade. If you fail it does & you need to write a paper. You're given a different version of this test 3 times & even if you pass you need to take it again(most people fail)
You have to really think hard in his class!
College English
this professor swears he is the only class you are taking. Gives tons of work & makes you read the new york times. He will make you feel like an idiot for not knowing current events. Do the readings because he does talk about them in class. he likes to put people on the spot; Harsh grader.
He assigns you so much work it is rediculous and isn't even clear when discussing them. He is insensitive to other people's point of view and doesn't shy away from putting you out on the spot. He also makes you purchase the $4 Sunday New York Times every week. The only thing he was helpful on was essay structure, they have to perfect in his class.
Brilliant. If you're illiterate, do not take him. He is fabulous he really gets you interested in what you are doing and opens your eyes to other aspects of culture. He does however know he is brilliant and has no tolerance for ignorance. He has been my favorite professor at Ramapo College.
As a lit major, I loved Fucci. He's extremely knowledgeable and offers helpful critique on essays. If you're not a lit major though, I don't recommend him. He has really high expectations of his students. Honestly though, he's probably one of the best profs I've had at Ramapo so far.
This is my second class with Fucci and I still think he's awesome. He's very casual and isn't too difficult. He's very knowledgeable and is interesting to listen to. In class you read 8 plays, write 4 papers and do a short performance in the Adler Theater on the last day of class. Take him. You won't regret it.
genuinely nice and extremely brilliant man. however, the workload is ridiculous and overwhelming, especially for a gen ed class. if you are not a lit major, STAY AWAY.
I've never had a problem with his grading techniques, receiving a good grade (A) in both classes Shakespeare (400 level) and Joyce (300 level). However he may not be the best professor for someone who is not a literature student.
Do not take if you are an athlete. He will not care if you had a meet or a game during his class it will just count against you. He gives assignments that are worth no credit but if not completed you lose points. Stay away if you are not an english/lit major!
If you are a literature major at Ramapo, Fucci is your daddy. Get used to it, get used to him cause hey, he is the man.
A very kind and jolly man. He is very intelligent and knows what he is talking about. A bit of a tough grader, but you will really feel you earned it.
A very intelligent, jolly and kind man, and a wonderful teacher. A bit of a tough grader, but you'll feel you really earned it.
Everyone I know loves him but I hated him for this class. I found him rude and intolerable toward the students. I've heard that in his lit major-specific classes, he's amazing. This class was very easy, hardly any homework at all.
Very difficult grader. You have to figure out the specific way he wants papers to be written. CITE EVERYTHING. No huge research paper mostly 3 pages long. He tries to scare you but voice your opinion in class and he will like you.
Fucci is the best Literature professor at Ramapo! This is my 4th class with him and I only wish I could take him for every class! His grading can be tough but re-writes are allowed. Nevertheless, that should not deter you from taking Fucci. He is really the best. Everyone was sad when this class ended. Take him!
Fucci is a great professor. This was not my favorite class but that was no fault of his. I took this class as a junior and it was heavily populated by underclassman so I felt it was a bit too slow and not very stimulating. I've taken Fucci many times and I honestly love him! Not a lot of work but there is a final. Still, I recommend him
Good Professor. Will really help your writing skills even though all you doing is citing stuff from other writers. but i have to say sometimes he doesnt know what he wants you to do. i totally went against him and did what i wanted one time and he loved it. I'm good at english and I ended up with a B in his class.
Fucci is a nice guy. Very cynical, but still nice. He requires a lot of work, and towards the end he gets a little deadline happy with the papers. Overall, a nice guy and a tough class.
He is the hardest english teacher ever. He will make you do extra work for no reason. However, he is an awesome person. He really helps you improve your writing as well as learn to think critically. Only take him if you are a dedicated student. It's a love/hate relationship.
He is a great professor and a great man as a person. but as a teacher he s a hard professor and i never got a C in English until i got to his class. you will learn to love him and the work is helps your writing skills.
Great Professor who knows everything about everything. The first day of class, he makes his class sound likes its going to be impossible so kids drop his class. There is no midterm or final, and six papers and a final presentation in the last class. Don't take this class if your don't motivated. I got a B or B+(didn't give final grade yet)
He's actually really easy! I'm not even an english major and I found myself getting A's on his paper simply. He has a certain way that he wants you to write. Once you write that way, writing in his class will be cake! Do tutoring and the readings. If you want a REAL education at Ramapo, this is THE guy! Never dull in his class. Good luck!
I hated this class every moment that I was in it but now that it's over, I'm glad I went through with it. Fucci is tough but he will force you to become a better writer. I am now confident that I will never have any problems writing another college paper ever again. I received an A as my final grade for this class; not easy but totally worth it!
Fucci is an excellent professor if you enjoy English, but it can be a burden if you are overwhelmed in other courses - especially if his class is just a gen ed requirement. Only take a class with him if you are a Lit major or are interested in becoming one. He is an inspiration to me.
Fucci, one of the founding professors at Ramapo is one of the most intellegent professors I've ever had. After transferring to Ramapo after Rutgers, I have to say he is the best! Very helpful, interesting, knowledgable, and approachable. If you are a lit major take his classes!!!
Really funny guy and he likes to have a lot of debates. will never give up in a debate and you cant prove him wrong. Essays are graded hard. he will make you a great writer if you listen to him
Fucci is an amazing professor. He is the smartest man I have ever met. He has very interesting and logical point of views and you you cannot prove him wrong no matter how hard you try. His class is very challenging and he's a tough grader but if you put in an honest effort, you will be fine. BTW he's only given an A+ once in his teaching career
He is one of the best professors here at Ramapo. Seriously. There's no denying that his class is hard, and he expects a lot from his students. You'll probably despise him at multiple points in the semester, but you'll soon realize it's a love/hate relationship with him. However he only assigns 3 papers, 1 research paper, and a proj. on pop culture.
Absolute worst class ever. He has made reading Shakespeare horrendous for me, and all he does is complain about how dreary high school teachers teach it. He spends the first hour of class droning on about how much he enjoys the theater, and NEVER TEACHES ANYTHING. He falls asleep during his own movies, and has no interest in doing anything.
TERRIBLE. warning! do not take him! hardest class i have ever taken and admitted that he aims to fail his students. the class is interesting, but not worth it. find another professor ASAP.
Brilliant professor. Absolutely brilliant. Easy class. Do the readings, show up, take notes. He assigns 3 papers & 1 presentation per semester & the final. If you take notes in class, you pass with an A. I showed up late, and never read, handed in my papers late, BUT I paid attention in class. I still got a B+ ( i had taken his class previously )
I've taken Fucci twice now, first for the gen ed, then for American Drama. He is fantastic. He gives you a lot of freedom for your paper topics, and he's willing to suggest plays when you ask. Fucci is an amazing lecturer and has seen almost every play ever written. 3 papers, a few quizzes, no midterm or final. I recommend this class!
He is a great professor, very knowledgeable at what he teaches and I'll be wrong if I said he wasn't one of the top teachers I've had. Don't expect this course to be easy, it won't be. However you will learn a lot.
Great professor who knows what he is teaching! He is a tough essay grader, but if you take the time to get feedback and listen to his suggestions, you can get an A on the essays. Funny at times, and loves to have interesting class discussions. Definitely improved my writing skills tremendously. Deadlines aren't formal, but I recommend following.
Fucci is horrible! Do not take!!! He flat-out says that he does not care if his students succeed and he is the toughest grader! He also quizzes the class on the newspaper every day, which is irrelevant to the class. A good portion of his students fail his classes!
Dr. Fucci is extremely intelligent in his field. Yes, he is a tough grader, but overall it made me a better writer. He is all about us making our own ideas. I liked this, it gave us a lot of freedom to write what we want to write about. He's intimidating at first, but I thought he was hilarious as well! His lectures are long but interesting.
Made us take a quiz about British monarchy and wars. Last time I checked, this was a literature class, not a history class. If we failed, which 99% inevitably did, we had to write a paper about Henry VIII, a play that no one ever read. Chose favorites, nitpicked everything, just a generally miserable and bitter man who needed to touch grass.
