Nice teacher. Has a sense of humour. He also covers serious subjects that affect the human race. Interesting class. The tests are difficult but the questions can be reviewed and practiced on line. That is a big help. Lots of chances for extra points: field trips etc...

Very nice guy. I would take his class if I were you, it is hard but if you study you will be ok, he explains everything to you in class and he is very intelligent. You'll be happy you took it.

If you want to meet the best teacher at LAVC take this class! He is very clear,the way he's teaching will make you close to the lectures!The grades are fair,the attendance is not so important,but you won't wanna miss a class,believe me!

He's seriously really cool. I loved his lectures, his humor and the extra cred. The Tests are really not that bad. I got As on the midterm and final. Take him if you can. Really fun class.

I took his class during the Spring 2003 semester. Very funny professor! He made learning physical Geography fun and interesting. I highly recommend this professor. A+

He is a funny teacher. I'm still in his class this semester. I can keep a straight face becuase he makes the class laugh. This is a good teacher, he is not only funny, he teaches you to think out side the box. May seem some what intimidating but he is a good teacher, take him.

He's suuuuch a cool professor. Very nice person. He makes the subject interesting and he's a good choice for an instructor. His exams are multiple choice, just take some time studying and you'll be fine. He's not " easy " though. Had a field trip with him too. Cool nice guy.

FUN class.very interesting.Make sure to read assigned chapters, multiple choice tests.You well actually learn in his class.Took his class at 8am and suprisingly i did not fall asleep. Enjoyed his class very much.

Oh my God, Mr. Gauthier is the greatest. He's so committed to the subject he teaches, very friendly, talkative, and understanding. He knows his stuff very well and you can see clearly the knowledge in him, he really cares about his students development. His class is different and funny.

Well all tell you how it is!.. His a really nice, kewl teacher.Just be kewl with him, do all work .and you'll get an "A" .thats it period!!!

Great guy, great teacher. His tests can be whoppers though! If he shows a video get your pen and paper out and take notes, and if he lectures, take notes. They will be on his tests. Not as clear as other professors about what he is testing on, but he's so knowledgable and interesting that it's all gravy!

A bit unorganized, but a good guy. Fun field trips and interesting lectures. I would recommend him with the disclaimer to not expect the most organized guy. Some field trips get pushed back, he runs late for some, and he's not easy to reach outside class if you have questions. But get a number of someone in class and you'll be fine and have fun.

Very cool guy, i think he is adorable. He has great and funny stories. His class isnt that easy but take great notes and you'll do fine. I didnt have the book i just read over my notes ( which werent that great) and managed a B.

Nice guy. He is willing to help students. Lectures are clear and neatly summarized. Pay attention to his lectures and take good notes, then you won't have to read the book. Attendance is important, so if you don't want to show up to the class, he might not be right choice for you. Exams are fair. Offers lots of extra credit.

He's a really cool teacher and very easy to understand. He offers A LOT of extra credit and gives a lot of take home test to help you review of midterms and what not. He's very helpful if you don't understand anything.

he has to like you in order for you to get a fair grade......i did all my work and got good grades and had the nerve to give me a C. very unorganized..... spoke to him about it but he never returned my call or even tried.....if you're a good kiss ..... then take him.......

Gauthier is the BEST - seriously. If you're a serious student who shows up to learn (and take lotsa notes), he's perfect. And very funny. Desperately needs a T.A., but other than that, he's the best teacher I've had so far. OH, and there's Lotsa extra credit & he's always down to answer EVERY question. =)

Attendance is much needed! Everything on the test comes from his lectures.Quizes aren't that hard as long as you attend class, take notes, and study.Only thing is the final-Not much on the previous Quizes/Tests are actually on the final.He's disorganized with returning your quizes. And if you have him for an 8am class-He's ALWAYS late by 10/15min

I just checked my grade for last term ( spring ) a C. I can't believe I recieved such a low grade. I did pretty well on the quizes. I'd advise everyone not to take this guy he knows the subject very well but if your not a GEO major take someone else..

he's pretty cool. i took him in the winter, so i don't know how he teaches in the spring and fall. in the winter (or summer), he gives quizzes at the end of the week. he'll go over the quizzes, and he'll like u keep the quiz sheets to study from. there r online quizzes and a field trip, for extra credit.

Gauthier is a very kind, soft-spoken guy. If you are looking for someone who is loud and exciting, you are not in the right place. The class is very straightforward, and he is a person you can actually learn a lot from if you are receptive to what he has to say. I wouldn't mind taking another one of his classes.

I Took him for Winter session. Im glad I did even though Geography is not that easy. The teacher is pretty cool and knows what hes talking about. Lecture class, Quizzes, Mid Term and Final is all it is. A 5 week class is probably better than a whole semester.

Took in in the Winter of '10. A very soft spoken and erudite professor. Full of knowledge regarding geography and weather/climate. Reading the book is a must to do well. And be diligent in note taking during his lectures since he tends to digress a lot. In amongst these divergent talks is stuff that WILL be on quizzes and tests.

A very knowledgeable and patient professor. He goes over stuff again and again until you get it. For a 5-week course, all quizzes are take-home and an in-class final but he lets you work in group. I didn't like Geography at all but had a GREAT time in his class :)

One of the best professors I have encountered at Valley College! He makes Geography intresting and interactive. Professor Gauthier has sparked my intrest in becoming a Geography Major. If you have the opportunity to take his class, just do it! You will pass his class with an A if you read the text. Quizess and Exams are not to difficult.

Soft-spoken but awesome! Very nice and friendly professor. Can be very lax with his course, but definitely an easy A with some reading. This class changed my life! I'm now a vegan and much more environment conscious because of him! Ironic, from a class everyone takes only for the easy grade and credit :) such a huge impact. Thank you!

Very easy going and funny. Actually tries to make the class enjoyable. Of course he does tend to digress a lot, but other than that i don't have anything negative to say.

Gauthier is a good professor. He is soft spoken but just because he is not yelling or competing for attention does not mean he isn't saying great and very funny stuff. His field trips are very cool and he is just a good guy to be around. Good energy. He gave me extra credit in Spring '10 for going to see a water exhibit - that changed my life.

Professor Gauthier is a very funny, cool person to be taught by and to be around. he loves geography and also loves to teach. you have to keep up with him because once he talks get ready for notes. you must read the chapters in the book to keep up with the class.

Professor Gauthier is a very nice and caring professor. He is very knowledgeable . His lectures are very imformative. There is a take home quiz everyweek, a midterm and final in class.

He's a good teacher, and a genuinely nice man. Difficulty wise about on par with any introductory science course you take. My only complaint is that he'll go on political asides here and there.

This professor is awesome. Goes over the study guide, just ask questions. You will be tempted to ditch class because its boring. I only used the book to study for midterms and finals. He is one of the most genuine professors I've ever met. He truly cares about environment and his students. The work required is very easy. Get in touch w/ your classmates and do the quizzes together. Take notes, go to class, plenty of EC, lots of lecturing but its always interesting. If you get to know him he's wonderful.

Don Gauthier is a very GOOD professor. One of LAVC's BEST professors!!! if you do your part as a student he will work with you. if you expect to get an A and not put any effort at all( miss days) please do not go to school until you are ready.
