Great prof. Makes sure if you are taking business its with him.

He's a great teacher!
Don is a great guy, but holy hell his midterms are hard. Just make sure you follow the powerpoint slides and pay attention to details. The course has no final, so those midterms really count. Generous on the project grades, and a good guy to go to for advising.
Don is the best prof I have had. He marks hard but fair. If you know the info on the slides he gives you it isn't to difficult of a class. Remeber that he only tests on stuff he talks about in class... He also loves WestJet so talk about them and you will get big points.
Although he seemed to be a good guy, I found him to be kind of sneaky as far as testing goes. He may mark fair but his expectations of the students are not made clear. I also found it difficult to get any helpful feedback from him. I did well in the course but not because of any help from Don.
Go to class, he only test you on what he talks about. Write every down that he writes on the board. Don’t worry about anything else. The lectures are most always funny.
Don is very, very funny!! I always had a good laugh in class, very tough marker, not the easiest teacher, but he does tell you what will be on the tests. I really enjoyed his teaching style, would take another class taught by him.
good teacher and fun interesting classes - although when it comes to tests and assignments all he looks for is definitions.
Don is a lazy and not organize Professor...He never has his own notes. He teachs base on the text book and that make students didn't learn much from him. I think I better stay home and go over the book than go to his class. He's sux and bad teaching style.
Don certaily isnt a good prof. He doesnt explain things well and marks REALLY hard. oh yeah and he's NOT funny
this lazy sack of**** should me living in a dumpster. If i saw him get hit my mack truck, i would have a better slep becuase of it. if you want to fail an eassy coarse take don as your proff. thanx
this guy is worthless, doesnt teach a single thing, tests are impossible, always off track during lectures. do not take a class with him
Awesome teacher. Easy marks. And people who complain about learning stuff that's actually from the book: what, you don't like actually having an easy class for a change?
Tries to pass off as a friend, then stomps you down with unfair tests. Very annoying jokes also.
He pretends to be your best friend, then stabs you in the back. After I missed 2 classs, he became outwardly condescending towards me... and I'm 36 years old! The long answer part of his tests are rediculously vaigue and unrelated to the text material -which he seems to invent himself. You can tell he was the hall monitor in H.S. Stay away!
This is a waste of time.
The friend thing totally true and if he decides he doesnt like you or your group for any reason...your done. I suffered through one class but would never do it again. Plus he makes unethical comments about other (better) teachers
good teacher. He lets you know exactly what is expected of you as a student. The atmosphere of his class is easy going and it is easy to meet people as well. He is helpful and always returns emails. His test are super easy if you've studied and know your stuff.
He's a fun guy until the midterm.
he's really helpful and is genuinely concerned with how well you do
The course is simple but yet there is still alot of work involved. Don is a nice guy, very sarcastic and funny but it does become a bit much at times.
very funny and laid back in class... but never available never gives you a straight answer. For ENTR1232 don't even buy the book we did not use it once. For the whole second half of the semester we all most had no classes he sends us to work on our "project" and doesn't help. Doesn't give you the exams back to study from EXTREMELY lazy teacher.
Don graded things fairly, and helped you out if you needed it. Stay on his good side and your set for a decent grade. I would reccommend don as a prof for this course.
Talk lots in the class and you will get an A
Funny teacher. Study his slides and you will do fine.
Don is a really great guy. He tends to play favorites, so as long as you participate in class, he'll like you. I found he was a pretty easy marker and if you read the slides you'll be good. Totally recommend for Pro-Selling!
He is nice at the beginning of the semester but once he's picked his favourites everyone else is screwed. He does not know how to teach the class and he is not at all helpful when it comes to getting assignments done. He does not give proper directions on assignments.
Don was great. After most classes he would stay after and answer students questions. I found him very clear in what he wanted from his students. All he asks for is participation. Participate and you will do great. I recomend this class.
One of the worst classes I have ever attended. I couldn't stand going. His slides were some what confusing and his tests were extremely hard. You had to know the exact words from all his slides. He plays favorites and although he is a funny guy he never helps you with the projects. Wish things had been different.
Worst class ever if u do not have to take it dont. No where near enough time to prepare the type of business plan he is looking for. Hard marker and his lectures are a waste of time. He has a sense of humour but dont be fooled. Waste of money but most important waste of time!
Don is a great teacher, he has a very realistic approach to the class, as he should. The class is meant to be ambiguous, testing what you have learned throughout your degree. If you haven't done well in the pre-requisites for this class, don't expect to do well in this one.
Don is an unreal teacher... i don't know why everyone's talking about favorites? Pretty sure he's just awesome, and those that do poorly hate on him. It's a hard class, but if you work hard you will do good. If you don't show up to class don't expect him to answer any of your e-mails. I recommend everyone to take entr with don!
To the poster above. You couldnt be any further from the truth............... Don is a horrible teacher. This is coming from a student who is working on a second degree and has seen and experienced alot more teachers then most have. Stay away from this guy and especially this course with him. Just my 2 cents........as far as favs go with him its true!!
He's a good teacher for Business Plan Development. He knows his stuff, and will help guide you, but this is a 4th year course, and he won't just spell everything out for you. You're expected to figure things out for yourself, and if you can, he's a great prof.
Terrible teacher
My experience with Don was terrible. He spent the whole class sharing awkward stories of his personal life. The course material covered in class was minimal. He was excessively rude and had no regard for how anyone was doing in the course. I literally felt the energy draining out of my body as I sat in his class. Avoid Don Haidey at all costs!
Avoid taking this class at all costs with DON. By far Mount Royal's WORST prof. This man is not only arrogant, but makes extremely inappropriate religious comments. It is beyond me how he has not been fired yet. If he shows you any negativity within the first class, drop it, you will come close to failing it. MRU will be a better place without him
in comparison to the expectations of other prof for biz plan, Don is not strict at all. Hes a resonable marker, i found him hilarious. I actually feel fortunate that i had him for biz plan since he seems to be alot more easy going than others
Don's a great guy! I took entr 4433 with him. It's one of those classes that cant really be taught. you can ask him questions and he wont really give you a straight answer, but if you go to his class and ask him questions and show him what you done; if you let him know your working hard on your project you'll do ok- he kind of plats favourites
Don is a Great prof. He can be direct and opinionated, but he gets across what he is trying to teach in a interesting and effective way. Every class is enjoyable and is fairly laid back in comparison. Hilarious at the same time. Highly recommend
pretty good guy, easy class, no midterm or final but there are a lot of presentations and group work as well as a final sales pitch you do with him 1 on 1.
I didn't like him, he was awkward to talk to and offered very little constructive feedback. Marking was very poor and subjective
Very sweet prof. will make random funny jokes. Teaches only what is needed. Would take another one of his classes!
He is a nice guy, but not a great teacher. Everything he says is sarcastic, which is annoying when you are asking a question and need a direct answer. All he does is assign questions without teaching you the concepts beforehand, so you sit there doing nothing since you don't know how to do it. Going to class isn't worthwhile.
Don is arrogant and useless. He barely spends any time on concepts and tells you to work on problems you don't know how to do. He then gives the answers on the board with hardly and explanation of how those answers were found. He is sarcastic and bitter in the class which provides for an awkward environment. AVOID this prof, not worth your time.
Don is not the best prof for FNCE. He is negative and sarcastic and it makes his class the last place you want to be. I only did well in this course because I practiced the questions repeatedly, he had nothing to do with my success. He could hardly answer some peoples questions. I would not recommend Don to anyone. Try and find another FNCE prof!
Don is great! I can see how some uptight people would find him offensive, but in my mind he is hilarious. He teaches you exactly what you need to know and his humour actually makes the class fun.
Don is an excellent prof. These reviews do not give him nearly enough credit. He jokes and makes class enjoyable to come to. The content is pretty difficult but he is always willing to help. I will definitely be taking another class with Don. Awesome dude.
Don seems interested in his students as people. He takes time to go through problems without rushing and seems to do it even though there is a lot to do int his course..
Don's teaching style, i.e., working through problems before they've been covered in the lecture can be frustrating, but it appears to be effective for this course. You'll go over a ton of problems with him, and he never rushes through them. He can be sarcastic, but not in a disrespectful way, and you tell that he genuinely cares about his students,
He has a sarcastic sense of humour that I found hilarious. He clearly doesn't take himself of the class too seriously but does a great job at conveying the course material. Really sets you up to do well in the exams if you attend class. Would highly recommend.
Funny Guy but honestly you could easily teach yourself as well as he teaches you. He starts class off by doing a problem from the chapter when you haven't even started the chapter and makes everyone try and figure it our on their own, which wastes half the class.. Sit at home and be confused about finance.. at lease it will save you the drive..
Don alright. I found him too arrogant for my liking though. I think he made most students feel uncomfortable participating with his sarcastic jokes. What I did like is that he scheduled a review session at the end of the semester. GO! It's so helpful
Ok teacher, typical boring lectures. However, don't even think about getting sick, injured or having a family member pass away during his semester. He makes it incredibly difficult to defer exams even if you have doctors notes and/or death certificates. Would not recommend.
Don is a boss
Don is very funny, I loved going to his class! would recommend
Prof. Haidey has an excellent teaching style. However, I wish that he had gone through the suggested problems list for FNCE 3227 BEFORE the Fall 2016 semester even started because the list has problems that test concepts he does not even want students to worry about.
His teaching style is great, but if he edited the suggested problems list and took out all the problems that test concepts he does not want FNCE 3227 students to brood over from that problems list, I would not have had to spend HOURS unnecessarily reading the textbook. To make matters worse, some of the explanations in the textbook aren't clear.
He's a pretty funny guy but won't answer questions one on one (emailing him, after class or if you go to see him during office hours). Overall he is an ok prof but he doesn't like to support students. For example, if you ask him a specific questions or problem you having, his response will be "Read the textbook and review your notes from class".
Don was pretty intimidating at first, but he's a really nice guy. He's really quick witted and he makes a concerted effort to learn about his students. I took personal finance with him. The material wasn't particularly difficult, but I found the midterms to be hard because they're very detail heavy. Tough marker but his expectations are clear.
this course is very tough. Don is really funny and great guy but not the best for finance. I worked my butt off and showed up to every class and the exam had a lot of stuff we didn't learn and a lot of students were very disappointed. the material needs to be reviewed for this class. makes you feel good about not doing the best lol
Don is the best prof I have had so far, and the reason I went into finance. Finance 3227 is a tough, tough class, people seem to blame Don for this. Most of the class is going through practice problems which is the best way to learn finance.
Don is an absolute beauty. Goes over lots of practice problems in class which is very helpful for the exams.
Don is hilarious. Keeps the class entertained and engaged through his humor and quality lectures.
Don' s a nice guy and takes time to go through problems. The midterm exams are primarily based on his examples and sheets in class. Only issue I had was how some of the textbook questions were far more difficult and irrelevant to the ones he teaches in class. He can be intimidating since his jokes can be very sarcastic.
Its a difficult class no matter who you take it with. But Don is fantastic and really engaging
Don helped me to understand finance very well. I took finance once before with a bad prof and come out not liking finance because I didn't get it, but Don was a great prof and knows what he is talking about and teaches it well. I would definitely take a class from him again.
He's difficult to adapt to. Had a tough time following his lectures.
Very intimidating. Best to not take.
Don is overall a great prof, but he didn't take the course seriously enough. He makes it seem like the course is a joke and a free A but it's not. The midterm and the Major Assignment are no joke and need to be takes extremely seriously. But overall if you show up to lectures or just read the slides you'll be fine.
Not very helpful. If you want clarification on anything good luck. If he believes he covered it in class he will not help you outside of class regardless of how unclear he was. He skims through the course with a clear low interest in it. Nice enough guy and has a great amount of knowledge just not great at the teaching component.
Don is such a beauty. He is hilarious and made a late night lecture fun and exciting to attend, even online. He is a great prof and made a math-heavy class easy to understand for someone like me who is not a math person. He made me enjoy finance and inspired me to pursue more classes in finance/accounting for a career. 10/10
Don is hilarious! But he has very high expectations that are hard to meet. He is very fond of group work, even during a lock-down (google meets) but his presentations are really hard to ace as he contradicts himself in his expectations. His test are quit difficult too. Would recommend buying the text because his lectures do not cover everything.
too many group projects for online, worth 40% of grade tough grading on group assignments Makes it seem like an easy A class but quite difficult slides don't prepare you for the tests read the textbook
Don was a good professor he explained concepts very clearly however he was not as responsive when I dealt with bad group members. His course contained a lot of group projects and presentations as well.
Although he's a funny guy, Don is the worst prof I've ever had in my entire life. Terrible marker, he almost failed the whole class on easy straight forward assignments worth 25% for the pettiest reasons. Don is getting older and I think he's unsatisfied with what he's achieved in his life.
I loved having Don as a prof! he's funny and very chill. You don't need the textbook, he covers everything in PPTs/ lectures. His tests are fairly specific so those can be hard, but the projects are good and he gives presentation feedback which has helped me. Easy grader and tons of easy completion marks from Chapter exercises. Overall great prof.
He is not great at accommodating for students, and is a tough marker. I believe he marks off of his opinions of individuals and not on the quality of their work, which is alarming. Build some sort of rapport with him, because if he's not fond of you it'll definitely impact your grade. I would advise you enroll in this course with another professor.
Very funny prof! He also is very knowledgeable about the course and has fun lectures. However, he is not accommodating to his students at all. I was severally sick and couldn't drive, concentrate or study properly but couldn't get a medical note till the day after the midterm and he refused to move the midterm to a later date.
I don't usually come on here to rate a professor but I had to warn others about Don. I went into the class thinking this would be an easy grade but he's extremely strict with his grading criteria and he has absolutely no room for the slightest mistakes. Although yes he may be ‘funny', if you don't want your GPA to drop, avoid him.
I think the class itself is relevant and relatively easy but Don made the whole experience frustrating and anxiety-inducing. It is incredibly hard to reach him and is not very accommodating when students need help. He posts the wrong due dates often and is not very clear about assignment expectations. He is very knowledgeable though
DONT TAKE THIS PROF. HE WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE HARD. starting of this class was great he's funny and seems like the best prof. but he sucks at marking and will fail you - like give u a 0 even with a 5% turnitin score. Take this class if your ready to fail.
for group project worth more than 25% of your grade. this guy will fail you with a 0 if there is a turnitin score. he believes you can't get a 0% in turnitin but with a 5% u fail. he gave more than half our class a 0 for one of the projects, and his midterms are hard.
Teacher doesn't grant extensions when doctors notes are involved. Will give a zero on a project, does not follow his own rubric, will break policies and lower your gpa. He's a nice guy but not a great teacher
At first, he's super funny and seems nice but then when it comes to assignments he suddenly switches up and starts throwing around 0%. He has no problem failing people, he's not lenient at all, he won't help if you ask, and he's very passive aggressive. The worst part is the group work. Don't take this prof.
Don does not deserve the amount of criticism he receives. He is a strong professor who is very clear about his expectations and what will be covered on midterms. He takes academic integrity seriously and strongly values honest work. Cheating or plagiarizing will result in a zero and a formal write-up. The content is not difficult to understand.
