Where do I begin? NEVER shows up on time. Wastes huge amounts of class time. Lectures are reptitive and boring. Wastes class time with stupid "articles". Gives projects and then leaves. Waste of my time and money.

I only need one word to describe this class: BS. Assignments/Lectures are pointless. Havens comes in late 10-15 minutes every class and has a preference for young, Barbie-type white girls. Easy pass; you won't learn anything though.

He was always late, rude to students, and made errors on questions on his tests. He wasted a morning of my life by showing "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming" as some link to marketing - total BS! Got an A but I think he's awful.

The worst professor I ever had!Lousy teacher,all I know about marketing I learned on my own from the book,he tought me NOTHING,& wasted my time.Tests are stupid & full of mistakes.I had best scores in class on all midterms etc.& got A- almost B!AVOID HIM!

the worst teacher I've ever had taken. he needs u to do 10 articles, i had done with 7, and he said i did only 4. and his is suck, mean, and didn't know how to teach. if u want to take him, keep on track ur grades, otherwise u will lost one grade down

This teacher is a complete a** hole! He does not know how to teach in the least bit. He is really ridiculous and I am suprised that he is still teaching. I think he gets off on being a d**k head!!! He really needs to be fired!

I was about to take his class, but I got out of there quick and in a hurry! He gave tons of hard homework the 1st day and when this girl walked in a little late and let the door close kind of hard behind her, he dropped her grade by 1 letter!

Honestly, I don't know Heavens is still teaching at SJSU. Worest professor ever. He can not teach for****, comes to class late, and does not care for his students. STAY AWAY FROM HIM IF YOU WANT AN A!!!!

Grades you like your going to get a PH.D in Marketing. I came to his office hours once, he was extremely unorganized and helpful. Take another professor because your not going to learn anything from Donald Havens.

this prof. is pretty unintelligent. maybe thats why he is a marketing prof. this guy is dumb, in the literal sense. he does not like to go out of his way at all to help students. his test questions are unintelligently worded and asks meaningless questions. i have an A in the class. Am I a better marketer? no.

If you have no interest in Business or Marketing you are going to hate this class. Prof. Havens is unorganized, vague, very unhelpful and plays favorites! He doesn't allow enough time for lecture and they are WAY TOO long, begins review AFTER class is over and doesn't follow the book AT ALL! He is a TERRIBLE teacher and you won't learn ANYTHING!

Horrible teacher. He is very unorganized, very rude, and unhelpful. He claims he gots the best lecturing technique, and gets offended if you make suggestions to his lecturing style. His test are HARD, too many inclass and outside projects for a 3 unit class. Worse of all he makes you subsricbe to the New York Times!! Talking about being a liberal.

This guy is really really and I mean REALLY unorganized. He loses your grades has no time management, and at times can be a smart a$$. His test are pretty easy with GOOD NOTES. Many many inclass assignments so do not miss a class. You do have to subscribe to the New York Times and bring to class everyday.

I would not recommend this professor at all. I was getting A for the whole semester and finally B surprised me in the end of the semester. He is way too hard and unorganized. too much pop-up quizzes and book was of no use. do not buy book for his class. not recommmended at all!!!!

Horrible teacher! He is extremely unorganized and very unclear although he curves everything. He writes notes on the board and briefly goes over them and gives out test questions that aren't even related to the notes.

He is very inconsistent and unorganized; he does not keep a good record of grades. Thus, you must keep everything single assignment! His teaching method is very ineffective and unclear. He often skims over the concepts and expects you to really know in an deeper level for the exams!!! You also have to report newspaper articles every week!!!

If you want to know a complete jerk, I will tell you. You will buy a book for $170(useless)and he picks few questions from 20 chapters out of the book and if you don't have it : good luck. you have to subscribe to NY Times and bring articles every week. if you miss 1 article he gives you 90%, if miss 2 he gives you 85% and... he gives unclear lect

This guy is so unclear and vague in his assignment descriptions, his lectures, and his requirements. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

On many occasions, he "overlooked" three students with laptops open who passed scantrons back and forth during exams. He also curved, which gave those cheaters and unfair advantage over people who actually prepared. I suppose "seeing" them would mean a load of paperwork, but have some integrity! Who doesn't look up and see laptops on a table?

Havens rarely explains material well; Be it assignments, lecture notes, or exam studies. A disorganized professor like him is threatening to your GPA unless you can take it upon yourself to GUESS what will be on the test, and study the book diligently yourself. Avoid if possible. It is very difficult to find a worse teacher.

HORRIBLE professor. Always talked to one student in the corner, ignored everybody else. Lectures were unrelated, unorganized, and rushed. When I asked him questions regarding my grade, he pushed it back for over THREE weeks until the day of the final, then he just told me he can't help me with it. Absolutely the WORST teacher I have ever had.

Avoid if you wish to learn or want an A. If you do take him, attend every class b/c there are pop quizzes. Tests are incomprehensible and ridiculous, but you'll pass them. Turn in an article every week (NYT, subscription req.). Bring a laptop to class so you have something to do. Have someone type notes and e-mail everyone else in class.TEACHER SUX

My second entry today: 1. I hate how Havens gives his quizzes. They are three to five questions each and he makes us use TWO 100 question scantrons for them. For a three question exam!!! 2. Easy in the sense that you have no papers to write or projects to do, but the tests and quizzes are unfair. The pop quizzes don't make sense and are rarely relevant. Test questions are sometimes confusing, and the RIGHT answer is wrong according to him. Learn the material on your own pretty much.

HORRIBLE TEACHER! The class it self is easy but you have to teach all the material to you self. The only reason ppl stay in his class is to take the pop quizs at the end of class, which are worthless. Bring green scantron to every class. And DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! It will help in the end. Hes very unclear about everything and ask alot of questions!

Do not take this guy!!! He is a terrible teacher. He faces the board the entire time he lectures and all of his tests are based off of his lectures. You have to bring a scantron to class every day for his 4-10 question quizzes.

Good: Nice. Bad: Disorganized, vague, weekly quizzes, boring/useless lectures, tedious and useless projects. This was probably one of the most useless classes I've taken at SJSU. Irrelevant lectures that were so boring you NEED a computer. Ridiculously easy A. If you can suffer the boredom and uselessness, GPA booster.

Worst teacher ever. On a midterm I get a question right that he marks wrong. His response, "it's curved so it doesn't matter." Then I get a question right based on the text, he marks it wrong because "I didn't put 'in the textbook'". He is the the most boring, non helpful, and just a bad person in general. Don't take him, trust me.

Wont give you credit for right answers on tests. Talks to the board the whole time. No cheat sheet, excepts the world from all students. Straight up a horrible teacher. How do you tell a student that " you assumed the answer was from the text. I was going off of my lecture" really havens? really?

This class is totally random. It is hard to predict things coming up since he's not clear about what he wants students to do. Class projects and the final weighted the most (40% for project, 40% for final). Questions on the exams/quizzes were meaningless. For example, he'd give you an scenario asking you to identify the "step #" in that process...

Easy class, a final and a midterm which is 40% and 10% of final grade. The other 50% is from in class unplanned in class exercises. If you show up to class, you do very well.

Awful teacher. Doesn't make clear what he wants from his students and doesn't answers emails. His tests are quite random and have nothing to do with the book. For the midterm, each question literally said "according to the lecture,". He's unorganized and doesn't pay attention to students who aren't sitting in the front 3 rows of the class.
