EASIEST CLASS EVER. GOT AN A and didnt even have to take the final. This teacher is the bomb. Didn't even open the book all semester. He tells you not to take notes because if it's important he will put it on the website.
If you want any easy A or GPA booster take this class! It is very easy, i honestly only went to class about 7 times the entire semester! Everything important is posted on webct and if u have any problems or questions ask him, he's very approcable and nice
Dr. Jones is a great teacher. Work was easy because he engaged you in the subject. Easy no pressure class. I learned a lot from Dr. J. You won't find a lot of structure and rigid rules in this class. You actually get to think for yourself.
Very nice man who does truely care about his students. You can also tell that he enjoys what he teaches which always makes a difference. I did not attend class often and the online quizzes really help!
Clear and easy. Reschedules tests, that are usually take-homes. Some writing required, but no pressure from deadlines.
Relatively easy class. Offers unlimited extra credit by way of essays and online quizzes. Prof is kind of strange. Seems perpetually confused like someone woke him from a long nap and told him he had to teach a class.
Best teacher i've ever had. If you want an "A" take this class. I only went to class a handfull of times and got a 100 on every test. I think i even missed a question or 2 on the test and stll got 100. I havn't made many A's in college but i did
Loved this professor. He's aloof, but in a good likeable way. I took this class because I couldn't find anything else and it ended up being my favorite. Very interesting, gives lots of extra credit and gives you the choice of multiple choice or essays.
This class was great. Jones was very helpful & answered every question I had. Tests are easy if you just study some. Attendance is optional and the notes are on the website, but class is neat anyway, so go. Plus you get tons of chances for extra credit!
AWESOME course...EASY class...HELPFUL dude...'nuff said! take my advice...take him!
Dr. Jones really cares about your grade and has lots of extra credit. He is disorganized and postones deadlines. Final is optional and can only help your grade (questions come from previous tests). Easy A. Take this class :)
It was a very easy A. I only went to class on the first day and still got an A. There is so much extra credit you can do online. The tests are even online. It is an easy A but you wont learn anything. He was very unorganized and kept changing deadlines.
Good professor. I am a senior taking this calss, so I have had a lot of teachers. He by far cares about your understanding in the course, and your grade as well. Extra credit opportunities throughout. Great professor overall.
Take his class for HUM 2230!! A lot of extra credit opps and he gives you options (ie: you can either write a paper of take an online quiz). I never went to class and I got an A. :) And the final was optional.
extremely interesting class.. his lectures are craaaaazy.. but in a good way. he'll get you to think and is a really freaking cool guy.
Nice guy, but have no idea what he was talking about.
He is a little strange, but interesting. He posts alot of information on the website, and is very understanding. You get multiple chances to get an easy "A" in this class.
Intersting professor if you are into philosophy. You don't have to attend class though to get an A...easy tests. Very nice guy, doesn't care if you come. Really unorganized...we ended up having 2 take home exams...so easy. :)
BEST teacher EVER!! He has a lot great views on a lot of things, and he's interested in a lot of things. He's so nice and caring about his students, he will do anything to make you succesful. Take Him for Humanities!
Quite possibly the best teacher at UCF. He is awsome. Don't bother taking notes or reading the book as you wont need to if you have a brain in your head. The only way you would fail is to be unconsious and it would be hard then. Had him for PHI3930 as wel
AWESOME teacher...fun to listen to and has great thoughts about philosophy. Great opportunities for brining your grade up and will help you with any problems. Took it in the summer and barely did any work and still got a A+ great teacher and actually learned a whole lot..take him!
The class was alright. The online quizzes were easy but actually comprehending the lectures can be a bit insane. Go to the class and you'll do fine, just don't try too hard.
Jones is a very understanding professor. There's not a lot of work, but do the readings because they help you with the quizzes. It's a very easygoing class. You have the opportunity to say what you want in certain issues, or you can just sit back 'n do the readings and still make a good grade.
Extremely easy class. The online quizes are easy and you get multiple attempts. Offers lots of extra credit. If you have trouble in the class just let him know and he will help you out. Recommended if you want an easy class for your schedule.
Even if you're in a coma, you'll get an A in this class! Everything is spoonfed to you. He gives you multiple attempts on online quizzes, uses the same questions from the quiz on the class tests, and begs you to do tons of extra credit which you don't even need.
Very ocassionally you need the book but you can get away with not buying it. Really good professor, you can tell he loves this subject matter. Very helpful guy who wants everybody to do well. 3 tests with study guides each time and tons of extra credit. Just show up and listen to get an A.
Easy class. Ridiculous amount of extra credit is offered if you're willing to write extra essays. I did need the book to study for tests but your mileage may vary. Gives you the question topics for exams in class, attend and listen and you'll do fine.
Very easy class, do all the extra credit you can Final is optional Sometimes he can be a little lazy but it is to your benifent. if he doesn't get a quiz on-line by a certian date then it becomes extra credit as well. Highly Recomended Instructor!!!!!
SUPER easy.
Online class. Great online discussions, so he eased up on tests and essays. If you honestly & sincerely contribute, you'll get points good towards tests. Brought in a lot of interesting articles in addition to the book. Enjoyed the class.
Let me be clear about this teacher. Yes, it's an easy class but only because he is a TRUE Philosophy professor. He values your thoughts, opinions, reasonings, no matter what they are. For him, you are a person deserving his utmost attention and care. Never saw a professor like this one.
Very nice. very smart. class is part online. POST DISCUSSIONS! WHENEV POSSIBLE. this can save u from doing essays for tests. sure to be one test online during semester; multiple chances to take it. very interesting course, very easy. layed back teacher, helpful, informative. take this class, and take this professor. you will learn something!
The best philosophy professor I've had. He truly does value the thoughts of others. He balances speaking and listening well, and explains the material skillfully. An intelligent, considerate man worth listening to.
Prof. Jones teaches one of the most interesting classes in one of the most interesting ways. There is busy work, but the majority of the class was focused on the students and their opinions. You cannot be shy and take this class, because it demands alot of interaction. Tests are easy, writings are easy but make you think. All around nice teacher
Simply book reading (which are very very good reads) & easy quizzes/exams/essays. Making insightful posts can easily replace essays.
This class was a relief for this semester. All you have to do is read books and post on the message board. If you just participate by posting, you will never have to do an essay. All the tests are multiple choice and you are allowed to attempt them multiple times. This professor listens to what you say and respects your point of view.
Dr. Jones is fabulous. Pleasant, totally interactive, interested in his students' education, and just plain nice. 3 MC exams w/essays, plus a final, but good discussion postings earn credit toward essay portions of exams. Also 3 "modules", which include text readings, small quizzes, and projects. This is just a good, solid, enjoyable class.
Great professor, stimulates interest in learning on your own. Fairly easy class, I guess he had some problems this semester and I got an A with only doing 2 multiple choice tests (3 retakes for each) and 3 short answer questions. Even with limited required effort I think I learned alot.
Best professor I have ever taken at UCF!! Extremely helpful, overly understanding, and the material is pleasantly, surprisingly interesting! Could not have asked for a better professor. Tests are very straight forward and have no tricks to them. I strongly suggest taking him! :) A+++++++++++ prof.
Professor Jones is a wonderful teacher! I took this as an online class, and we had interesting readings from a couple of books. Discussion postings could be substituted for test essays. It is clear that Jones genuinely cares about his students, which is really refreshing.
Syllabus has changed three times this semester. Assigned readings, quizes, modules, etc. are ever changing. Students have to e mail and post this professor in order to get him to provide the assignments. Awful!
Professor was not involved with the class (online). Students had to request assignments and exams all the time. Syllabus was changed at least four times. I don't understand how he can be an assistant professor at a state college.
Completely useless. Extremlely boring. I never Showed up and still ended up with an A. That shouldn't happen! Only 1 assaignment in which took him till the end of class to grade -- we turned it in a few days before withdraw date. Don't take this professor if you want to learn.
EASY A+ HE CHANGES SYLLABUS ALL THE TIME BUT IF YOU'RE NOT INTERESTED IN LEARNING AND JUST NEED TO TAKE A GEN ED TAKE THIS CLASS! I HAD IT ONLINE AND IT WAS THE BEST, ONE ASSIGNMENT GAVE YOU THREE ATTEMPTS AND GAVE THE ANSWERS AFTER FIRST ATTEMPT! LOVE THIS PROFESSOR!!
The easiest class I have ever taken. The class was online. It literally consisted of one multiple choice WebCT quiz (which you get 3 attempts at, highest grade counts), and one 2-3 page essay... FOR THE ENTIRE SEMESTER.
easiest class of my life. don't take it if your actually interested in learning though.
This was the easist online class I've ever taken. If you want to learn anything then don't take this class. Jones changes the syllabus all the time and doesn't respond to emails. The majority of the semester I had no idea what was due and when. The clas consisted of 2 multiple choice exams (3 attempst to get an A) and one 2-3 pg essay.
i took this class online, if you actually want to learn take someone else, if you just want an A to bring up your GPA, this is the class for you. We had three multiple choice tests that you get three atempts at and one paper...And he our first assignment wasn't due intil two months into the class
I took this class online and I didnt learn anything. You have three tests that you get three chances to make a 100 on and two papers which I put minimal effort into and still got an A. If you want a GPA bost, take this class. If you want to learn, dont take this class.
This class was a complete joke, it was quite possibly the easiest class I have ever taken. If you want to take a sixth or even seventh class (I'm not exaggerating) this is the perfect class. I didn't learn a single thing. Every test or quiz allows three attempts which takes the highest of the three grades. I didn't learn a single thing though.
Easiest. Class. Ever. Didnt buy the book. took 3 quizzes that you get 3 attempts on. after first attempt you get the answers and the questions stay the same. Can't really say I learned anything in this class but came away with a grade boost like everyone else. Take him.
Lazy professor. He promises to grade writings and post exams online by a certain date, but he never does. It took him an extra month to post our first exam. He promised to have our in-class writings posted sometime in February. It is now mid April, and he still has not posted it. Professor, please stop being so lazy and do the work you promised us.
Best class ever! If you don't want to learn anything, that is. He gives extra credit for in-class writings, extra credit for posting on the discussion boards, and extra credit for participation during class.I don't care that he took long to post exams, I was busy with other classes and this is gen ed. Take him if you don't want to put in effort.
Intro to philosophy, not sure what section it was but i got a 100 in this class. if you want a slack, easy class to take off a heavy workload... i would not hesitate in taking this class.
Easiest class ever. He is the most unorganized professor ever. I went to class once over the semester and ended up with over a 100 in the class. You will learn absolutely nothing. But very easy A
Great Professor, Tells you exactly what you need to do to pass (if you go to class?),Gives work sheets w/pg.#'s to read/study (if you study?) The kind slackers posting got help from other students who felt sorry for their sappy e-mails."Oh I don't know whats going on?" No kidding? Go to class!Who wines about getting an A? Lots of x-crt, tk/notes!
Easiest class I've ever taken. He gives tons of easy extra credit, but you don't need it. The tests are online and you get multiple tries. He's a really disorganized professor, and it took him at least a month to schedule and post the first exam. The class is an easy A, but you probably won't learn much.
EASY! He's very intelligent, and knowledgeable about philosophy. I never went to class and got a A in the class. Don't need the textbook unless you are really interested in philosophy. He gives tons of opportunities to earn points, and gives multiple tries for quizzes/test which are ONLINE! He's super nice and smart. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
4 weeks into our 6 week summer class and he just posted our schedule and assignments. Now we have 10 days to do everything. Absolutely pathetic!
Grade=A+, Who complains of A's? (1st yr?) The course is great. Raise your hand ask Q?'s,give in-put. He likes an interactive class. Easy to follow, starts (intro) w/last class left off, so if u missed it u don't get lost (Thats Cool). Ovr/Hd projection, gives alot tips to answers on tests. Lots of x/credit for A+. One of the Best Professors at UCF.
Really nice guy. He is dedicated to his field, and knows a lot, and he's always up for hearing new ideas and answering questions. Only problem, he is a bit unreliable when it comes to work. Almost halfway through the course, he removed all exams and replaced with papers. Not awful, just sort of frustrating.
Most disorganized person on the planet. He is constantly changing the entire structure of the class and what assignments we need to do. Doesn't seem like he cares what you turn in for a grade, as long as it's something! I learned nothing in this class. He tends to ramble and get easily side tracked in his lectures.
Wow, easy A. I didn't learn a thing. Haha. So yea...peace out.
Easiest A you will ever earn. Hes very disorganized but its impossible not to get an A.
I took him for multiple classes, he is super easy and lets you study whatever you're interested, as long as it is somewhat relevant. Amazing guy, he is what philosophy should be about. Very lenient with grading and attendance, he lets his classes be open and they are always what you make of them.
This class is VERY easy! I didn't go to many classes and still scored well on the tests. As far as a professor: he is terrible. He gets distracted easily and spends a lot of time talking about what he is going to do with the course. If you like learning for the sake of learning, take another class.
Super easy no doubt. Went to class everyday, played on my computer. Got As all the time.
Though he was disorganized, he was one of my favorite professors. He is flexible and lets you learn what you're most interesting in- and even gives you sources based on your own interest. Yes, it was an easy A, but I learned a lot because I took it upon myself. You can tell he loves the subject & wants to spark your interest in it as well!
easiest class ive ever taken, stopped going to class after the first test, everything was put up online, take him
This class was a joke. I went to class everyday up until the first test, after that, it was not necessary. He's a very disorganized professor, but he is a nice person. If you want to boost your gpa, take this class! It's a guaranteed A!!
Want an A? Take this class. Donald is a really nice guy, and you know he means well. But his class is a joke. He is the most unorganized person I've ever had as a teacher, and you profit from it. Went to class 3 times, got an A. We were supposed to have 4 exams and a final, but exam 3 and 4 never happened. Take this class. You'll never be happier.
Seriously, just take this class. Easiest thing ever. No book, no work, allows you to cheat on tests in class. and online. i took 2 tests and a "final" that were the questions from tests 1 and 2 combined. online.
Class was an absolute joke. Professor is very nice but EXTREMELY disorganized and boring. You will not learn anything and you will get an A. However, I dont think this is a good thing. Sure, you get the grade, but its useless when you walk away with the same knowledge of philosophy as you walked in. Take a different professor if you want to learn.
We had one test and a final which he gives us the choice to take online. Need i say more? Take him.
Online Advanced Computer Ethics class. Wrote 1 paper, discussion posts, and 2 online exams (1st attempt told you the answers for the 2nd attempt so easy 100%). Learned nothing and Prof kept saying there were exams and then cancelling. Worst professor I've ever had but easiest A I've ever had. Take if you don't care about philosophy & want an easy A
Donald Jones is just GREAT! such a nice person. cares so much about his students, never puts you down even if you're wrong. while he is an "easy a" its because i think he just wants students to excel and if you want to learn from him you can learn a great deal! he is very knowledgeable and funny and I will definitely continue to take his classes.
Very nice prof. Well spoken, cares about the topic, but most importantly, he cares about the student. Presents the material then leaves the learning style choice to the student. Very reasonable for ethics. Loved the cours.
Despite my best efforts, I could not fail this class. I tried my absolute hardest at one point, not even showing up to the final, but still found myself getting an A. 0/10, would not take again.
If you do not get an A... I don't even know what to say. We had all these assignments we were suppose to do, but ended up being dropped. If you go to class, do the in class writings and you will never have to attend a essay writing class. Take him for your gen ed requirement! Easy A
Jones is a great philosophy teacher. Really knowledgeable guy. His classes are not for everyone--if you need someone to hold your hand and tell you exactly what to do, you won't get much out of it. If you are interested in philosophy topics and just need a starting point to go into further independent study, you'll enjoy his class a lot.
Don Jones is awesome. Easiest class I have ever taken. Read his emails, do the practice quizzes and you can't fail. Got an A in the class. As long you remember you have this class, you're good. Don Jones is my hero.
I seriously never went to class once. He would post like a rundown of what was talked about, I would just rewrite the things he said, email the writings to him, and was then exempt from essays. The practice quizzes are the tests, just screencap them. Grade was high, so didn't have to take the final. Ended up with 113%... EASY AS S#*T
Easy A. Read the materials posted and write short essays. The topics he picks I found to be very interesting.
Many people say he is so easy and a bad teacher...but the two aren't the same. He doesn't care about grades. he cares about his students. he cares about philosophy. One of the few professors who NEVER talks down to students and really respects ideas even if he disagrees. such a kind person who always goes out of his way to help anyone. take him!!
Easiest A by far. Very loosely structured. Planned for 3 written exams and 3 multiple choice. Ended up writing one 2.5 page paper and one 15 questions multiple choice. Discussion posts are worth extra credit.
There were only 3 tests in this class and they are hard. The book is small but packed with information and unless you love philosophy, I would not take this class. Prof Jones wants to be helpful but he is almost too smart to articulate to we common students.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAVE! said there would be 4 tests but he took forever getting the first one made that we have only had one. Very disorganized and does not respond to emails!
Donald Jones was by far my favorite teacher. He'll pretty much talk about whatever he wants, and this is great. He relates science, art and philosophy together. I couldn't wait to go to his lectures. He is disorganized, but works something out for you in the end. Don't stress though, this isn't going to be your typical class.
Posted material for 1 5 sections so we only had one exam, and a "cumulative" final (which was exam 1 with 5 extra questions). Managed to post EC discussions but not course material. He did admit fault for his mistakes, but I don't get how he didn't have material prepared from past semesters. Take if you want an easy A, not if you want to learn.
Originally made things clear on the syllabus, but ended up not following it whatsoever. Spent the whole semester wondering if I was actually enrolled in this class, because we did absolutely nothing. No textbook, no discussions, one test. Didn't learn a thing. I feel bad for students who had to pay out of pocket for this class. What a waste.
Not really too sure what to think of this class. Was supposed to be: video lecture each week + plus readings, and our grade was supposed to be six quizzes + a three page essay + a cumulative final. What it ended up as: one quiz, no essay and a hand full of discussion posts. Easy A, but learned nothing whatsoever. Nice guy, probably shouldn't teach.
The only way you could fail this class is to forget you enrolled in it! We were supposed to have this long lesson plan (which included two essays) but he ended up dropping it all because he was so behind. He posts discussion topics and if you answer a bunch of those you basically get exempted from the course. Super easy, didn't learn a thing.
Jones always pushes assignments back. Halfway through the semester we hadn't taken one test or had one published grade. Lectures are completely optional but very interesting. If you complete enough in-class short writing assignments (optional and opinion-based) you wont have to write essays for the tests.
No book required for class. Its almost the end of this semester and we haven't even had our first test. He gives optional points if you post in discussions or in class writings to replace essays. I think he's really unorganized and not reliable to put points in. I didn't really learn a thing from the class. I guess its an easy A
Probably the easiest class you'll ever take, but beware - you will be confused through the entirety of the course about what you're supposed to be doing (the answer's usually nothing).
Our first exam was scheduled for September 15th... we took it December 15th. His lectures are completely unnecessary and he does not assign a book. He released a "practice quiz" online which was exactly the same as the exam which was also online. AKA I learned absolutely nothing, it took no effort, and it boosted my GPA. Take him! GPA booster !
Easy A! Theres no textbook and only 2 exams. Our grade was one exam and the final exam which he gave us both through webcourses with 4 attempts on each! He uploaded a practice test for both exams and the exams were the same questions and answers as the practice tests literally word for word. I didnt show up for one lecture and ended up with a 100%.
Easiest class you will ever take. No book, no powerpoints, no need to ever show up to class. His lectures aren't interesting, so most of the 300 students stopped going. There were 2 (easy) assignments the whole semester, I finished with 100% and know nothing about philosophy. Great GPA booster and gets a gen ed out of the way.
overall this class was great. I never attended lectures and still got a 105 in the class. There was supposed to be all this work, but it ended up just being 1 test and 1 final.... (the answers were pretty much the practice test) and were online, also 2 attempts. there are some optional online discussions which I recommend doing and barley any work
TAKE THIS CLASS!! Hands down the easiest class I've ever taken. We did nothing at all except answer some online discussion questions. We had one online test with all the answers given to us on practice tests and it was the same for the final (online too). Ending the class with a 100 (:
VERY easy A. Don't have to go to class, had one test and a final. Answers were given on practice tests. Discussion posts to replace essay portions on tests. Recommend, received a 100%.
The class was extremely easy. Only took one test during the whole semester (online and two attempts, answers were given on practice quiz) No need to show up to class, just complete online discussions and you will be fine. Easiest A. However, didn't learn much about philosophy.
I had friends who took this class and probably went twice the whole semester. He is not very clear but I wouldn't worry about it. We didn't have an exam until the last week of school and all the answers were given to us. I passed with a 100%. If you want to learn philosophy, his lectures aren't bad but they won't affect your grade.
Don't even go to class, just take the exams which are exact copies of the practice quizzes, and you get an easy 100. If you like hearing him talk, which some people do, you could go to class. He was interesting to listen to, but it all felt very pointless. Too much of the semester was focused on arguments for and against the existence of a deity.
Went to class three times and passed with a 100%. We had one test and it was a week before our final because he doesn't get through the material. Test was online and he gives you practice tests with the exact questions on the exam. Highly recommend for GenEd/GPA booster, don't recommend if you want to learn about philosophy. NO textbook.
Sooo he posts discussions on webcourses and if you reply to them you get points. Those points are used toward your essays. I did the discussion and got full credit on my first essay without writing a word. He also says there will be 4 exams... we only had 1 exam and the final. Both online. I got 100% in the class without showing up. Easy.
Grading criteria wasn't clear until about half way through the term, but it worked out in the end. You could earn points through: participation in class discussion, online quizzes & exams, writing papers, online discussion posts or giving reports to the class. He knows his stuff & lectures are interesting if you pay attention. 10/10 would recommend
To sum it up, Donald rambles and half the class is asleep or not there. Definitely don't have to show up to pass, and if you do, bring coffee and lots of it. He gives extra test points for commenting on discussions in web courses, so if you need a GPA booster this is the class for you. If you want to actually learn philosophy, look elsewhere.
Basically, if you need a GPA boost Donald is the professor to choose. You won't learn too much philosophy, so if you want a thrilling teacher look elsewhere, but Donald is sweet and a pushover and basically gives out points for the test using discussion posts. You don't have to come to any class, definitely an easy A.
This is a self learning driven course. I am amazed at how many students get caught up on wanting deadlines and boring lectures. This is one of the very few classes that was fun to attend and challenging for me . This ended up being very meaningful because I was in charge of my own paper. This class is what you make of it. Don't waste it.
Didn't go to class. Got A. Would do.
It's finals week and he doesn't have any of my extra credit in that he was supposed to get in two months ago. Sweetest man and beyond easy class but it's not at all organized. Do the discussion posts and you don't have to take the final because each post is worth 5-10 points and the final is 50 points. Only had 2 tests and a final, no hw ever
If you can get past how disorganized the professor is, you will pass. I showed up to class 3 times all semester and passed with an A. The tests are the same questions on the practices quizzes, in which you get two attempts and the ones you got wrong are shown at the end. The final is all the repeated quiz questions.
If you want to take this class to actually learn, don't take his class. Our agenda of grades went from multiple tests and essays to a total of 4. Extremely easy A.
Only two tests and a final all semester. All tests were taken online including the final, but if you had enough discussion points you didn't even have to take the final. Easiest class ever ! I rarely showed up to class and still got an A. Definitely recommend this professor.
Professor Jones is a very lovely man but he is a bit scatterbrained and has a hard time sticking to schedules. We didn't have our first test until late October while all my other classes were on their third tests. He is very generous with gaining points to cancel out essays and all test questions come from the practice quizzes online.
Professor Jones is a very nice person. He honestly tries to make class fun and deadlines flexible. His tests are online and you're allowed 2 attempts (although he will always tell you you're in class, postpone the tests several times, then announce it to be online). His lectures are pretty interesting if you went. It's an easy class in general.
There's about 4 assignments that your whole course grade is based on. There is no need to attend class- everything including tests are online. Very easy grader. He just wants you to pass really.
If you want an easy class with some interesting topics and very little assignments, this is professor. If you need to truly learn the topics and like consistent schedules this professor is not for you. The deadlines consistently got moved back and the assignments and tests that counted at the end changed throughout the course.
I took Ethics in IT for credit expecting to do a little work online. Little did I know there was none to speak of. We had two quizes and an exam. Both had practice questions identical to the real ones. The same goes for the one exam we did. Seriously, this class was easy and I never received any schedule updates. Kind of a joke.
This teacher procrastinates so incredibly badly. He does not post grades for anything until after the final exam. He pushes due dates for assignments so far back that he eventually removes half of them or makes them extra credit because he cant possibly grade them in time before the semester ends. You will probably get an A or B.
I took Intro to Philosophy Honors with Don Jones, and it is very clear how much he cares for his students. Jones cares more about your appreciation for philosophy and enjoyment of the class than he cares about pinning you with a grade. Pretty much if you take the weekly quizzes you'll walk out with an A. Fantastic professor, fantastic class!
Pick this professor if you want to go to class and use it as a free period and need an easy A. Don't pick this professor if you actually want to learn and want to have a well organized class. Nice guy but not a good lecturer.
I was looking forward to learning more about philosophy but this class was a waste of time. He's a good guy, but he is very disorganized and is unclear how the class will be run. Grades are due in 10 days and my 1st exam isn't even graded. The only time I want to a lecture was to use the wifi to download IOS 11. Easy A tho
Very nice teacher that definitely cares about his students. Yes, he's disorganized, but he helps you out in the end a lot.
If you actually care about philosophy and want to learn, do NOT take his class. He starts the year by saying there will be 10 quizzes and 4 tests and we ended up only taking 5 quizzes and 2 tests. Extremely disorganized but he bumped my 83 to an A so I'm not complaining. Also I only went to class like 4 times.
Bumped my 80 to an A. Easy class, enjoys lecturing but its evident he doesnt like the whole "grading/testing" aspect of being a teacher. Cares about his students a lot
Professor Jones is extremely unorganized. While on the syllabus it said that we would take around 10 quizzes and 4 exams, we only took one quiz and one exam. If you want an easy A, take this professor. If you want to learn, look somewhere else.
(several classes) If you're type A and need structure youll find courses with Dr. Jones a challenge, but I urge anybody seriously interested in philosophy, critical thinking and genuine learning to take a course with him. He is as supportive and kind as he is brilliant. Meet with him one-on-one and he can truly offer a wealth knowledge and insight.
Kind of unorganized. He'll say that the quizzes will be posted that day and two weeks later they still haven't been posted. Only had two exams in the entire semester and the final was elective depending on your grade. 80% of the exam questions are pulled from the online quizzes- which you get two attempts for.
This man is super smart. He is always there for you. I am not a PHI major but, I loved every week of lectures. He is the MVP! Professor Jones is an absolute genius and is so considerate. He will help YOU out! I wish I had him for more classes! D_Jones is D_Legend!
He is very unorganized, which is reflected in the lack of structure of the class. He kept shifting due dates around and ended up not teaching certain topics that he postponed until we reached the end of the semester. There is only one final paper that determines your grade. Lectures were very boring, as he rambled quite often.
It's definitely an easy class, though I disagree with many saying he's unorganised. Topics changed when the class collectively decided topics they'd rather go more deeply into. Also I never had any trouble learning from his lectures, though I do think he spends a bit more time than he should going over announcements/etc
Great Professor, The lectures are intriguing and fun, questions and comments are encouraged. Attendance not mandatory, but I actually enjoyed going. Lots of options on how you want to complete the writings. Writing assignments and essays can be completed in multiple ways (i.e. as an essay or as multiple online posts) Also responds to emails quickly
Canceled over half the assignments... DId 8 modules and 2 quizzes all semester. Maybe 3 hours worth of work? One of the easiest A's you can get.
DEFINITELY an easy A class! Loved it for that reason, low stress & low pressure class. Jones is a super nice, genuine, and compassionate man. He really does care about his students & 1st day of class said how he doesn't agree with the university GEP system mandating us take classes in fields outside of our majors. Loved that. 10/10, take this guy!
Class is little disorganize at the beginning, don't worry, you will have enough time to finish all the assignments. very nice professor you can ask for. Every time I sent him message, he replied back within 5 minutes. Very easy class.
This was an online class, so everything was online. He canceled a lot of the work that we were supposed to do. Most of the time it was because he was covering for a friend or going to the gym. Class was an easy A, everything is unlocked at the beginning. It only takes about a few hours to do all the modules.
Teacher cares more about his personal life, so don't expect him to be organized. Can not really say how much of a "teacher" he is because it was online and everything is basically given to you. The only assignments we did was the modules and a quiz because he kept cancelling everything. I'm an IT major so this class served no purpose for me, easy A
Due to Hurricane Dorian and the professor getting sick and taking care of other personal things, the class was disorganized with things being posted at the end of the semester. He is very responsive to you, when you email him so do so if you must. Class is an easy A, he gives you the reading materials you need to pass the quizzes on webcourses.
A real email from him: "While I was tinkering with the old Harvard Justice Quiz, two of our cats who decided at the last minute to quit watching me and chase one another jumped on my laptop and my hand and inadvertently deleted the Harvard Justice Quiz." Easy A. Would recommend. All assignments get cancelled except 3 that take 10 mins.
This guy is super disorganized. His emails can be funny or really serious but they are always about cancelling an assignment. Really glad I took him because I didn't really care much about learning ethics, which means if you really want to learn then avoid him at all cost.
Pretty much all assignments were cancelled. For the first 14 weeks of the semester, we only had one 5 question quiz. In the final week of classes, he opened two more extremely easy quizzes and a 1 page essay. Class is the biggest joke you will take at UCF.
Donald Jones did not care for his own class. He likely spent his time coming up with excuses while cancelling office hours and assignments. The class was an easy A obviously. The tests that mattered would re-use the same questions. He made the majority of assignments + the final optional, which was nice I guess.
I don't think I have ever taken a class so easy in my life. I'm genuinely confused how the UCF administrators have not caught on to the shenanigans. He cancels office hours routinely, takes an inordinate amount of time to upload the minimal assignments he does have you do. He makes so many things optional its dumb to assume the students will do it.
Jones is a caring professor, although the class is very disorganized. If you want to learn a lot of philosophy, he may not be the best choice, but the course is very easy.
Professor Jones navigates philosophy, science, and logic in his lectures. He will mention lots of ideas, philosophers, books, publications, anecdotes, philosophical problems, brain games and paradoxes. It almost feels like a database was teaching and it all leads to more research. Not much guidance on how to write a research paper though, a paradox
He is a very chill professor. Disorganized with grading material, but it is easy. Some online quizzes, test, and small discussion post which are easy to complete. He may not be the best if you are serious about it, but if you want a easy class and want a better appreciation for philosphy, this is it. Also has available office hours
Donald Jones is an absolute gem. Changes the class to make it more interesting to you, and focuses on presenting material rather than difficult grading. If you put in an average amount of work he will reward you. Take him at all costs.
Prof Jones was a good philosophy professor. He tailored the class to specific interests and worked with students to achieve good grades based on their strengths - test taking, speeches, discussion writings, etc. His goal was to be sure we were successful, by allowing us to capitalize on our strengths.
Very loose course. Required for PHI major but its a hit or miss if you'll enjoy the class. Very little structure and very "choose your own path". Jones acts more as a guide on how to write a good paper and an encyclopedia of various topics you could choose for said paper. I enjoyed it but many might not. Allowed late work with no penalty.
Very wishy washy about deadlines, but easy assignments. He's very understanding and will work with you on anything, pretty much impossible to not get an A unless you just don't do any work at all. He allows for extra credit assignments whenever, just email him the what you're doing and you're good to go. Do 2 extra credit assignments and you're set
This class was a little disorganized, but it was very doable. A few discussions to replace a paper, mid-term, final, and module quizzes. The professor is incredibly helpful. He just assigned little assignments. If you are looking for in-depth attainment of philosophy knowledge, Professor Jones definitely gave opportunities to dig deeper.
Quizzes cover only the basics so very easy, sometimes does the quiz with you or the quiz exactly matches the practice quiz. Provides reading materials for those who are really interested into reading further. Doing a little extra credit and participating in class can exempt you from the final. Just attend lecture and listen to the general concepts.
Easiest class Ive ever taken minimal effort required. Answers to tests (multiple choice and true-false) are discussed beforehand in class and in pre-test. Lots of optional assignments for extra points didnt even have to take the final to keep a 100%. Professor Joness teaching style is a bit difficult to follow very disorganized.
I'm not sure if the professor just wasn't used to the online format, but this class was a bit of a nightmare in terms of understanding what's actually going on. He never sent out any emails communicating what was happening. Some of the assignments just didn't exist and were just placeholders and weren't really explained how to do them
You can literally finish this entire course in one day. Seriously. The professor is disorganized online as he forgot to add quizzes 2 weeks before finals. Your first due date is in 14 weeks. A 20 question multiple choice quiz. Yeah. And would you rather do a 3 page paper, or take 4 extra quizzes (all 1-5 questions each and with 2 attempts)? EASY.
Easy course but did not even finish creating the course. Everyone was confused by what and when we had to do stuff. Though it was asynchronous it only became clear what we even were supposed to do much further in the semester with a last minute essay assigned during finals week suddenly.
The course overall was very easy. This professor was absent from the course and did not provide over half the assignments during the first half.
Super easy class. All classwork is due at the end of the semester and you just have to fill out some small quizzes here and there. Professor was lenient and understanding of questions.
This class was easy but it was VERY disorganized. There was no clear instructions on how we should do the work that we needed to do. Other than that, we had a couple quizzes based on readings and then we had a midterm and a final. There was a paper we could do but he said we could take 4 extra quizzes to replace the paper.
Dr Jones cares about what he teaches and brings up interesting points. Most classes are just lectures which gets pretty boring but the class is overall an easy A and requires no effort. If you are very interested in philosophy and want to participate in discussions and truly learn, pick a different professor.
Professor Jones is a nice man but a boring professor. The class consisted of honors students yapping about philosophical concepts they didn't understand with no intervention from Jones. The class is an easy A with online tests and extra credit opportunities, but class has NO real structure which WILL frustrate you. Not attendance mandatory though!
Genuinely the easiest class of all time. Never had to show up to lectures though I did most of the time. Changed the grading scale the last week of classes and basically made it so that it was impossible to not get full credit in the class. Smart guy who is passionate about philosophy but class doesn't have much structure.
As long as you go to class, you'll probably pass. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should act like it is bc it's very lecture heavy. He tries very hard to make sure you have the opportunity to succeed. There is a lot of opportunity for extra credit and not many required assignments. The only flaw in this class was how unstructured it was.
Essentially just a lot of articles and videos you have to read or watch to take quizzes. Exams are also not to difficult, 3 main exams then 1 final. The rest of the class requirements are a bit confusing, but just take as many quizzes as you want then you'll be fine.
straightforward class. no hard due dates until end of semester so you can work at your own pace. (i think like one exam had a due date but it was opened from the start of the semester). some of the tracks were messed up this semester but he mentioned he was planning to fix them come next semester. very helpful outside of class as well!
Dr. Jones's course allows students to engage with the future and improve their research skills. He is a super valuable academic! In all classes I have had with him, he is most concerned with the course's most up-to-date and relevant ethical concepts and discussions. He will always make time for students' questions.
Honestly, this was an easy class. The only issue with this professor is that his class structure is terrible. The modules on Canvas are very messy, with most units being either incomplete or not posted entirely. Don't worry, there are only 8 units with a bunch of quizzes per unit. If you do a total of 12 quizzes, you'll pass the class entirely.
