This professor is wonderful. The only prof I've ever had that made history fun and enjoyable. Not an easy A because work is expected and tests are in essay form, but if you can handle that you should take this prof.

Kilguss is awesome. As long as you are willing to put in a fair - but interesting - amount of work you will get a lot of any of his classes!

Excellent teacher who obviously loves his job. He tries to make the class fun, and isn't afraid to crack a joke now and then. The key to success in his class is good attendance and taking very good notes.

Hes the GREATEST teacher I have had in college. He loves what he does. His notes are clear and he answers questions fully. He makes jokes and gets you to laugh a lot in class. He is deffinately worth taking!!

Donald's class was quite easy and he always made the class interesting. He would repeat parts of his lecture to make sure we took all of the information down on paper which is also a plus. I highly recomend him to anyone who has a behavioral science requiement to finish.

I never thought I would enjoy a government class but he is such a wonderful teacher. He sets up his notes so that you can actually study from them. And, he is just a nice guy who will answer any questions you have.

It is nice to take a class when the professor loves what he does. He generally loves to teach and you want to do your best for him. He gets his points accross with precision. He make you laugh with his silly jokes. I would reccommend him to anyone.

teach is nice BUT he never uses the book and his lecture notes are rediculous at least 6 pgs per class and a lot of ancient examples are used and if you miss class you have no idea whats going on

This guy is super nice and a great teacher. He's tough though! Yuu have to study for his tests, though they are fair. He knows EVERYTHING about government. He is also very prepared and organized. I liked that. He will call you on it if you are absent though. The only B I got at BCC (all As before him) definitely a challenging class if you are lazy.

I have also had GVT 12 with him...he is really nice and the classes are really interesting, just memorize your terms and such for his tests. He is very fair and is straight forward. Wish he taught something else.

First off, I got a B in the class without the use of the text. You take a lot of notes in class and the tests are based off the notes. Be sure to study and know the terms. He gives hints to what the questions may be, but don't depends on those. He's a nice guy and he makes his classes interesting.

I took him for 11 and 12. He is my favorite teacher at BCC. His lectures are anything but boring and encourages participation (you are graded on it as well) You have to study, but his test are FAIR. don't bother getting the text book!

Second semester with him & he's probably the best teacher I've had so far. He knows his stuff, and he presents it in such a great way. He keeps you interested. There are quite a bit of notes but you hardly notice how much you've written until you look over your notebook after class. He's very organized with his material. Highly recommended.

I had him for GVT 11 & 12 as an online course. He is excellent. Lots of lecture notes but the quizzes are based on those, not the textbook. He's big on participation. 1 research paper and he's more picky on that. If you do what's assigned you do well.

I took an online govt class of his. He's a good teacher and the class was easy. The book was a waste, though. I didn't need to open it once.

For the lecture, he projects an outline and discusses each topic. Take good notes! It wasn't a boring class at all. He gets excited about the material and explains it so that it's interesting. Tests were a little hard if you don't pay attention to detail and study notes well. Didn't use the text at all, so save your money. I would take him again.

Great professor. Wish I needed to take another course he was teaching! He is extremely knowledgeable and truly loves his work. He focuses on the importance of the events (rather than dates)and relates it to relevant issues of today. He is extremely fair n work load and grading! I Highly recommend this Professor for history or government.

Mr. Kilguss is a really cool guy; his class is not easy though. Take good notes... EVERYTHING will be on the quiz! Other than that, we never use the book & he doesn't really assign homework. I'd take another class with him. Also, please not the US government with him is like a History class, so don't expect to learn about today's government...

I took him for GVT 111 online, and for an online course, he was really helpful and pretty easy. He gives you the notes, and the quizzes are on it. You get two tries if you want to raise you quiz grade. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!

I was waiting for a teacher like this!! I have him for Gvt 111 and I like him so much I'm working my schedule next semester to have him twice!! He is a phenomenal teacher, he knows his stuff, and he makes it all So much easier to understand! Really fun class, give him a shot! You won't regret it!

I loved Professor Kilguss! He was funny and kept it interesting. Homework was reasonable. The quizzes aren't that hard if you study, and the final isn't cumulative. Take him!

I completed over 70 credits at BCC before graduating. Prof. Kilguss was probably the best teacher that I had. He's fair, knowledgeable and genuinely invested in his students success. It's easy to see his dedication to educating. He has a quirky dry humor that grows on you too. BCC is fortunate to have a teacher of his caliber. Take him!

Great class. I loved how he used podcasts, notes, and pictures to make history come more alive. Made history very very interesting.

Really good prof. over all. His quizzes aren't too hard and he understands that you are in college and have other work loads in addition to his. He often gives some breaks with the discussion boards if a quiz was just given out and so forth. I'm awful at history and I have a 90. Discussion boards are almost like current events which is great too.

If you have to take this class do it online! You can take quizes twice, and have the study guide infront of you. Every answerquestion on a quiz is on the study guides. The Discussion Boards can be annoying, especially when you have to respond to other students, but it's not that bad. I recommend him. I would take another online class with him.

Very good online course! Clear assignment due dates, reasonable work load. Not my favorite class, but wasn't as bad as I expected. Fair grader. Expect a discussion every week, a few quizzes and a lot of notes! No big tests, one long paper only.

Probably the easiest online class I've ever taken . There are six quizzes which are based off of the lecture notes and textbook and one major paper. 90% of the time you can google the quiz answers no problem. You need to make discussion board posts every week about current news articles, so finding those is kinda tedious but overall he's great.

Professor Kilguss helped keep my interest in this subject. He combined the use of online audio clips and interesting details to keep his students engaged. I would definitely take another class he was teaching. If you do the work, and stay engaged you will get a good grade. *This was my first online class.

I have Mr. Kilguss for my online government class and he has been fantastic so far. I love how he formats the discussion boards. He's always available over Skype and frequently makes you remember that he's there for any questions you will have. Quizzes are lecture notes dependent and the book isn't necessary.

Professor Kilguss is a great history teacher. Very knowledgeable and teaches history to his students that are easy to understand. He doesn't assign homework but it wouldn't hurt to read the textbook sometimes. He usually gives four quizzes throughout the semester however you won't pass the quizzes unless you take good notes and come to class.

If you ever need to take a history 114 , TAKE it with Kilguss! Lectures are clear, video clips and audio clips are provided. Quizzes all based on lecture notes,book not necessarily needed. Discussion boards have interesting prompts. One paper that's actually fun to write. This teacher gets an A+ in my book!

Professor Kilguss is a funny, intelligent professor. He takes pride in teaching, and makes learning Government fun. Not too much work is given, but a decent amount of notes. He will hint about material on the test, and will be glad to help after class. Fair grader, awesome professor.

I took History 113 and 114. Prof. K is extremely organized and if you missed something he'll re-post. Pay close attention to the lecture notes and you'll pass the quizzes. Quizzes can be taken twice and he made History really interesting!

I really enjoyed this class. It was intense but I took it in a 6 week session. Professor was very clear in expectations. I would take another one of his classes for sure.

Show up to class take notes , usually 4 quizzes throughout the course, , take good notes and you'll be fine HE SAYS to get the textbook but doesn't use it through the the course so just take great notes and he emphasizes everything he hits on on the quizzes

Prof. Kilguss is an amazing teacher! This is my second class with him this semester. I enjoy his class and getting his feedback. He shares pictures from traveling that pertains to the topics (he uploaded pics from his trip to DC for my GVT class, so awesome!) If you do the work, you get the grade. Hoping to take him again before I graduate.

Toke an online summer history course and actually enjoyed learning it!

Absolutely fantastic teacher! Very well organized, responsive to students and has very clear/specific lectures.

Relatively easy class as long as you show up, take your notes and study. Professor himself is great, willingly to clear up and questions or confusion during lectures.

I took an online class with Prof. K. I appreciated the organization and structure of his class. A lot of reading and heavy on lectures. Short essay answers on board, and you had to respond to a classmates post. Also, quizzes and a paper. Hes good about emailing back and helping if you have an issue. You definitely have to work for a good grade!

This was my favorite online course @BCC. Lecture material is easy to find while taking quizzes. There were 6 discussion boards total throughout the semester, some more difficult than others, it's important to read requirements beforehand. Homework/quizzes are opened Monday & due Sunday @12am. 1 project, 6 quizzes in total, I highly recommend.

Online class, provided study guides for each section, the book he uses is a free ebook that a physical copy can also be purchased for cheap. I barely even used the book his tests are almost entirely from the study guide, some questions being word for word copied from it.

I've taken several online classes, but his was by far the most organized and structured one I've taken. He provided all the lecture notes and uploaded voice recordings which explain the notes even further. If you take the time to review the notes AND listen to his audio, it's easy to do well in his class. The quizzes were fairly easy as well.

Nicest professor I've ever had. He knows what he's talking about and wants to pass down his knowledge to the student. Used a free online textbook, and he provided relevant lecture notes, audio and video clips, we even researched a newspaper from the 1930s. Cool and laid-back / easy to talk to and easy to listen to / wants the student to learn.

I took professor Kilguss twice in my time at BCC. He is such a nice, caring guy and truly wants his students to succeeded. Hes absolutely hilarious and has the best personality. I was never a fan of history, yet he made his lectures interesting!

Although there is quite a lot of work, weekly paragraph discussion board and a quiz every other week, it is organized so neatly and clearly, it is hard to miss anything. This class was easily one of the best I've taken and he does a great job breaking up the material into easy-to-read chunks. Responds to emails quickly and grades fairly.

I took Kilguss's online Hist 114 class & it was by far the easiest class I have ever taken at BCC. There are only 3 things you get graded for; discussion boards, quizzes, and one paper. There were only 6 DBs throughout the semester & they're simple read an article/newspaper, summarize it & reply to a classmate. And you get 2 attempts every quiz!

Detailed lectures and modern discussion questions

I hate history, but this was my favorite class of the semester! Engaging lectures (make sure you take good notes), no homework, only 3 simple projects, 4 tests that are not accumulative and the final is not accumulative either. Overall, a fantastic course, if you have to take a history class for any reason, make sure Donald Kilguss is your prof.!!

His lectures are very detailed and he makes the material very engaging for his class. He is always happy to answer questions and cares about his students' understanding of history.

This history class was so much easier than the one I took during my first semester. Basically just look at the lecture notes and recordings each week and you should be fine. Only a few discussion boards and quizzes, and there's no exams. One three page paper. He makes the class both accessible and interesting. Definitely recommend.

One of the nicest professors I've had. He communicates clearly his objectives, lessons, and work that is due. He had a total of four assignments that needed to be done throughout the whole class and they were SO easy. His lectures are clear and interesting. He is also very understanding when it comes to missed class. I will be taking him again!!

I've taken 2 history classes with Prof. Kilguss and he is such a great professor. I took his online class during the pandemic and he was super understandable, he made his assignments attainable to keep up with, but still executed his material in a manner that lessons were never interrupted. I would recommend him to anyone taking a History class

Took online gov 111. Everything on the quiz is in the notes that he gives there is no reason to not get a 100%. Take this class online if you can over the in person one. Discussion board each week and a quiz every other. There is one paper that is 3-5 pages long. Class is easy as long as you do the work. Take him if you can he is a great teacher!

Prof Kilguss is awesome. He gave the class a free online version of the book instead of making us pay like all the others. His lectures are easy to follow and the test/ quizzes are pretty easy as long as you payed attention. He gives you plenty of time to complete assignments also and none are overly complicated.

Professor Kilguss is awesome. The homework is very clear, and there are only 6 Discussion Boards and 6 Quizzes every couple of weeks. If you read and study the lecture notes you can easily pass the quiz, and he lets you take it twice in case of technical difficulties! No final, just a three page midterm. The lectures drag a bit but it's an easy A.

I took Prof. Kilguss history 113, and I was amazed how much I have learned in such a short time. Prof Kilguss is very kind and fair. He is clear with his directions and even goes above and beyond to record audio in case you are not a reader. Anyone who talks smack is clearly lying because he was one of the best professor's I ever had at BCC.

This is my 3rd semester taking one of his classes, the other two being history, and I really enjoy his assignments. Every one that I've had ties in a modern perspective and starts really interesting conversations. You get what you put in, and you don't have to buy a textbook. He's clear in what he's asking and responds when you reach out.

I took HTS114 and will be taking HTS113 next semester for how easy and understanding Prof. Kilguss is. His lectures are easy to understand, make sure you read the lecture notes and you will pass the quizzes he assigns. There are 6 discussion boards and 6 quizzes along with a midterm paper. No final!!

This class was by far my favorite class. It was easy as long as you read the lectures and paid attention. I would take a class with this professor again anytime.

Free textbook and plenty of lecture notes. I felt as if I gained a lot of knowledge from his class. He was always very considerate when I emailed him and reached out in a timely manner. For HST113 we had around 6 graded discussion boards, a quiz every about every other week (you have two chances), and a project which I found fun. Will take again!

Did a great job with an asynchronous 3 week course. His coverage of the material was particularly interesting and well organized. His use of Canvas doesn't seem maximally efficient, but it is effective. We had a free textbook that we were asked to read, but the quizzes had an insignificant amount of material that is only in the book. Really enjoyed

Engaging lectures, clear instructions, and a fair workload. Professor Kilguss is understanding and goes the extra mile, like providing audio recordings. unstuckstudy and the free textbook were super helpful for acing this class.

He was a good professor. Provided very detailed notes and instructions for assignments. You will do fine in this class if you follow the exact instructions provided. Don't try to cut corners because he will deduct points if you don't do exactly what was asked.
