Great class for anyone who knows little about computers. He is an awesome teacher that truely cares about your success. There are take-home tests where you can use your book to locate the answers. There is also one paper due on the technology of your choice and then a powerpoint on the same paper due at the end of the term. Easy A !

Good person , I agree that labs would be better alone,not in pairs, have discussed this alot with other fellow students who feel the same,but nothing is perfect. Great teacher, laid back and nice... does a lot of power point presentation before labs to do(there not bad 10-15 minutes long) Gives a lot of extra credit...3 take home tests(easy MC, 3-5 short answers questions) Go to class and do the labs and you should walk away with an A.

Great person, and instructor. Very well informed, and also willing to learn from students. Lectures lasted 15-20 minutes (powerpoint), and lab work lasted as long as it took you to complete in class (with a partner). All tests were take home. Tests were VERY indepth, so do your homework. Very fair man. HOTTY!!

Great class! I learned a lot. Professor Lafonde was great. Weekly labs, a two tiered project and take home exam. Go to class, do the work and you will learn ALOT that you can use in the real world and get an A. He's an extremely helpful instructor. I would definitely take a class with him in the future.

This professor is a GREAT person. He is very helpful and understanding. I took this class during the Spring Term of 2007-2008. Someone broke into my home and stole my computer. I showed proof of this & used the lab after work to complete the class. I PASSED!!! He was patient and concerned. I learned a lot. Thanks Prof. Lafond.

Professor LaFond did a great job teaching this course. He is extremely helpful, friendly, caring and overall great guy. He lectured, provided us with labs and a few projects to keep it interesting. He is very knowledgable. The work is not difficult and the workload is very managable. He smiles alot and is very positive. He is a hottie!!

He's really nice, laid back and talks to you like you're on his level. Doesn't hurt that he's hot! Don't slack off and skip class because his lectures are really informative. Even if you don't know much about computers you can get an A pretty easily if you do your work. If this is your major I recommend reading the book.

Wonderful professor. Although he does work with you, you must show that you desire to learn. He gives you ample enough time to catch up work. Professor Lafond was extremely easy going and very approachable. I took his class online and found that he was one of the few online professors that will respond to e-mails and discussion questions on Saturday and Sunday. I would take another class from him in a heartbeat. Excellent instructor.

Great Professor, Took his 8 week online class and he was very clear about requirements and workload up front! He grades fairly and even though it was a lot of work (bc 8week) all of the work and tests were easy and straight out of the book. Professor Don is amazing! I would have to say he is one if the best teachers I have had. You are given the assignment list for the course so you know everything that is do and when. If you do not understand something he is right there to help you with a quick response. If you do the work there is no way you will not pass this class.

This was a 6 week online class. If you take the 6 week class do not fall behind. The class was well organized. Professor Don give real world advice. If you are motivated and able to work at a fast pace, the 6 week course if do-able. I had a good experience and final project was a good experience.

Don or Professor Don as he prefers (don't ask why because its funny and you might hurt yourself laughing) has interest in your success as a student. He is considerate of your needs as a working individual and also as a full time student. He has a lot of teaching experience and if you pay attention you might learn a lot of tips for success.

I really enjoyed this class. If I had questions I always received a helpful response within 24 hours, usually less. I rated the class as easy not because there was no challenge. If you complete your assignments, tests, and reading you can do well. Just follow the steps provided.

Professor Lafond is an excellent instructor. He promptly responds to all questions and his assignments are explained very well. Do the work and you will get a good grade (but isn't that the case in any class). I wish he taught more in my major.

I took the 8-week version of his class. While there was a lot of work, it wasn't unreasonable. There were weekly discussions (interesting ones mostly) & 5 easy exams as long as you read the chapters in the book (which was a good book actually). Only downside was my horrible group and the weight put on the group project (15 of the total pts).

Wonderful professor, he answered all questions and emails within a day. He's very clear on what he expects and is an easy grader, you will get an A as long as you do the work (which there is plenty of so yes, you do need to work a bit) and follow the guidelines. One thing that made him stand out was that he gives awesome feedback.

Professor Lafond was superior! He answers emails in a good amount of time, and always made the assignment due dates and grading rubric clear each week . This was a 8 week class, so we had to learn the material in half the time. You definitely have to work for you're grade, but Professor Lafond helps you very step of the way!

Professor Don involves his students in the learning process with the group project presentations. There are quite a few written assignments but by completing them you will find yourself learning about management techniques, which is why we are here right? It's a good class, one of the best I've had so far. Will try to take him for other classes.

Professor Don was a great instructor. He is very clear and keeps class interesting. We did a group project that we did in class and there is an assignment a week and a 30 question quiz. The final paper was a bit time consuming, but if you apply yourself you will do well. I enjoyed this class a lot.

Emphasizes APA format on paper, always ready to help, phone,text and email. He was prior Navy, so if u were or are military let him know, ! Gives compliments to great work. feedbacks on time, grades on time. Quizzestest are test bank. Do all what is required, Easy A and his online class is organized very well. Will take again

This class was clear and concise. There is a discussion each week with online SAM training. Then there is an open book quiz. Easy to follow syllabus schedule. The professor answers emails right away and gives personalized feedback on graded assignments.

Very good professor. This is my second class with him. He helps students and answer the question , even he gives his cell number to let students call him if they have any important question. There are a team project every week and you have to work as a team not alone. Easy grading and students have have until Monday morning to submit their work.

Group projects and presentations every class. Incorporates real world scenarios in a business setting. Also, he does not provide a whole lot of direction because wants you to think for yourselves and for the group to be creative. Prepare to do your work and show up for class. Easy A with effort!

This is a very easy class. There is an assignment every week and quiz, but super easy, nothing that takes to long to do. I did learn a few tricks in excel that I wish I knew about at work the previous month. It would of saved me a lot of time.

Prof Don is an awesome teacher. Seriously, TAKE THIS CLASS! He clearly outlines his expectations and grading criteria. He genuinely wants his students to succeed. There are multiple SAM modules and case studies to complete each week and 4 tests you can take 3 times and keep the highest grade. Go to class and do the work. its easy and beneficial.

In a nutshell: Nice guy and easy grader but a lot of work for his 8 week class. I recommend taking his class by itself if you work for a living. Presentation every class for group project if you take hybrid. Some assignment instructions were vague. Expect to be busy.

I, actually, worked for this class. It was a very interesting experience. Even though you can look up the questions of the quizzes on the internet, you still have to do a lot of other work by yourself. However, Prof Don gives you feedback and is a very fair grader. Also, late work is accepted. Dont be lazy, and you will get your well-deserved A.

Overall great class! Mandatory book work each week. Specific requirements for discussion posts- if incorrect amount of responses or sources not listed, you will not receive full credit. Did not open all modules- to balance the work load, complete and save all DB posts at the beginning of the semester to easily submit them prior to the due dates.

This professor makes it known up front that you will write. You will use the book and do an in class project. The class was great. He gives extra points for showing for all classes. Quizzes are online and the answers are in the chapters. He spells out all the work in blackboard and you can get ahead if you pay attention and attend class. Great.

Outstanding teacher. But what makes him worth it is, while he will load you down with work he will actually teach it in a rich interactive manner, allow you the flexibility to do it while not demeaning the FSCJ institutional standards, and helps you if needed.

I took CGS1100 online in an 8 week format. The class required a lot of very easy homework that only consumes time, not brain cells. Seriously easiest class I have ever taken.

Great professor! Really enjoyed Professor Lafond's class. Expectations are clearly set. Assignments are graded in a timely manner so that you can track your progress throughout the semester. The online training is a great complement to the professors presentations for learning the material.

Professor Don's online CGS1100 class was one of the best put togther classes I have ever taken. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have definitely learned some valuable information that will be useful to me. I would take another one of his classes in a heart beat. I kind of wish all of my online classes were taught and layed out by him.

This Professor has a great sense of humor, so he makes learning fun. There are no surprises, his grading is clear. He give feed back on all your assignments. Stay on top of your work and you will be fine.

I took the course as a hybrid with 1 class meeting a week. All assignments were completed and submitted online. You can work ahead and the work is easy. No hassle of DB. There are 4 Quizzes which are open book, untimed, and you have 5 chances. It can't get any simpler. With 1 class meeting the lecture was heavy. Awesome individual and teacher!!!

Professor LaFond is a great professor. All you have to do are the assignments located in the syllabus given at the beginning of the course. Blackboard discussions are mandatory! I took the online course, and every week there was an assignment that had to be posted and then comment on your classmate's post within Blackboard. Straightforward class.

Professor Lafond is a laid back teacher for CGS1100. His lectures can deviate away from the course materials in order to teach us helpful stuff that is related to the course. He is a fairly easy grader, he uses blackboard a lot, is clear about what he expects and is a fun character overall. I would gladly take him again.

Professor Lafond is amazing and he is very knowledgeable. I had issues with work so I couldn't make it on time always, but he understood and it was okay. The class atmosphere is comfortable and he is very funny. I am hoping that I will be able to take more classes with him because he is just so awesome!

I honestly went into this class thinking it would be very difficult, but as long as you do the work you'll get an A. There is quite a bit of coursework just dont fall behind. No long nights studying everything is online and simply laid out and pretty clear from the beginning whats expected.

Professor Lafond teaches a great class for CGS1100. I took this course online and actually felt that was better for me than in the classroom. Homework will be a lot for this kind of course no matter what and ours only lasted 7 weeks. Still everything was graded quickly and if i was late on some homework I was only accessed a 10% penalty. Amazing

He is a great professor who had a positive encouraging attitude about the amount of material he had to dish out. There were Netlabs, packet tracer, discussion questions, text book online, the usual chapter tests midterm, and final exam. Pre-made lectures slides (some needing correcting and/or deleting). A lot of work. He is positive & encouraging.

This was my second class with Professor Lafond (Cisco 1) and his witty, lighthearted lectures make the material increasingly easy to understand. Professor Lafond genuinely cares about each student's success. Workload can be daunting, but he rewards students with leniency and extra credit for going above and beyond. Obviously that last student failed Mr. Lafond's class because I just finished the course and I can't disagree more. Although there is a lot of work in this class, the content itself, as well as all of the assignments, exams, and practical exams are provided directly from NetAcad. Don is easy to communicate with and very fair. I learned a lot!

Very heavy on the packet tracers, overall a good class. He's still new to teaching cisco and there is some stuff that is difficult to understand but he offers supplemental videos to make up for it. Do the packet tracers and you will pass.

Professor LaFond does care about his students and wants to help them learn the materials and understand. He does make you keep a handwritten tech notebook, which is graded. I thought he was crazy at first but writing down the information in your own words is a great learning tool and has helped me tremendously.

During Professor Lafond's instruction I received my CCNA. I made it a point to get my CCNA and halfway through CISCO 2 I received my certification. If you actually study and do the homework you can too achieve your CCNA. He is very responsive and the material provided is NetAcad, NetLab, along with his great instruction.

Make no mistake about it, this class is time-consuming. There are a lot of labs and packet tracer assignments. However, the labs reinforce your learning and as long as you do your homework you should get a good grade and learn a lot in the process. I wish he taught more classes. I'll take him again.

This was my most feared class when I started this program. Not only did I pass but I am already signed up for the second class starting in two week. Best professor I have come across. Uses Netacad for the class which is an amazing resource to learn.

I've taken two Cisco classes with Professor Don. He's extremely knowledgable about the content and teaches in a way that helps students new to IT understand key concepts and how they apply to the material and labs being studied. I would, without hesitation, take Cisco 3 if he was given the opportunity to teach it at FSCJ.

Professor Donald Lafond gives a fair amount of homework but overall his one of the best Professors to learn Cisco 1 & 2 from !! I hope FSCJ lets him teach cisco 3 in the future

I have not had a better experience in college than w/ Professor Don Lafond. He cares about his students & makes learning fun. I am grateful for being taught by someone w/ humanity. He reaches our level & gives every opportunity for students to pass. It's not an easy A, as we are learning a lot of material, but the A is easy to obtain w/ effort.

Professor Donald Lafond is a excellent choice of a professor to go with. The work is very clear on what you need to do in order to stay on top of your work and your grades. He provided many resources for help and was great with communication. Very charismatic and understanding my fiancée and I both took his class and highly recommend it. :)

Professor Lafond is a great teacher whose class is easily passed if you actually apply yourself. He uses NetAcad to teach and is very active within the website and easily reachable for any questions. Be prepared because there is A LOT of lab homework but overall I learned a lot from them. Also provides weekly lecture videos for his online students!

Professor Lafond is a great professor, took his course on networking, his lectures were plenty in-depth and he was always quick to respond to messages. The course has a lot of work but it is not anything he creates, as the course is pre designed. Having said that, I never felt it overwhelming or too much to get done. Would highly recommend.

This was my 1st online class. I wasn't sure what to expect. I definitely prefer having a set day/time to meet in person. Prof. Don has a great personality. His extensive background/experience is an asset. His class was pretty straight forward. Read, do your homework, attend class and pass your quizzes/tests. I would take a class with him again.

Professor Lafond gives a clear realistic description of networking and pointers on preparing for a career in the field. His class is laid out well, easy to follow and get into the routine of each weeks assignments. Gives feedback on assignments and answers questions promptly. If you are willing to put in the work you will do well in his class.

Great professor. As long as you do the work, you will pass. Everything is easy to get through, he gives lectures and explains the chapters, provides plenty of opportunities if you ask for them, is really understanding, and seems to enjoy what he does. I recommend taking any class with him, I will do it if I have the chance.

Professor Don is a very interesting teacher, He tells the hard truth when needed and shows honesty. But his repeated examples with no variety can be very hard to listen to. If you put in the work you will easily pass the class, but don't expect the material to be easy. 10/10 person, ok teacher.

This man singlehandedly opened my eyes to the world of networking. To say that I am flabbergasted is an understatement when it comes to his teaching ability. Take his course, even if you are not interested, TAKE HIS COURSE.

Professor Lafond brings networking to life with his engaging lectures. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of it. Definitely take advantage of study aids like Unstuckstudy to excel in this class.

Don Lafond is an amazing teacher, in this class he used mindtapped which could be tedious and challenging however he accepted any late work with a small penalty and was available for questions. While his lectures were long the class was enjoyable because he related the material to his own experiences and I definitely would take his class again.

Don is an absolutely AMAZING professor. He really helped me understand networking, and he is HILARIOUS. Absolute must take professor. It should be noted, this class is HEAVY on the work, but that is not due to Don, but due to Cisco Netacad. He really helps navigate it, and gives such a good understanding, that the many assignments are fairly easy.
