He assigns a 15 page paper on the first day of class and says you have 2 weeks to do it. He just wants to weedle out the kids that dont want to take the class,so dont make the same mistake i did and work your *ss off for nothing, not even extra credit.
15 page paper isn't that bad because you can pick any topic you want. Tests are worse than the paper because he is unclear of what to expect
Funny class, hilarious man, 3 tests which were easy, did not have to turn in 15 page essay, make sure to make friends in the class to make it fun.
Very easy class and the teacher is hilarious. Talk about interesting stuff and the tests are easy. Just an easy fun class. Says there is a 15 page paper but cancelled it like he does for every class.

Funny guy, easy to pay attention, has a good sense of humor and has very unique outlooks on stuff. However, every question he asks has a simple answer but he makes it seem like the answer is real complicated. Like he asks what sex is, and expects a 100 word answer.
Very good humored teacher. Though... he does tend to cancel a lot of his classes. Interesting and fairly easy class though.
He teaches great...there is no work at all in his class..thats what is cool but you just have to do good on the test...thats all that counts in his class...3 test thats it...so i suggest take his class you'll enjoy it....
He thinks he is superior to everyone else. Funny guy, but its a real easy subject to be funny about, I mean its human sexuality. I didnt like his superior attitude, but the class was pretty simple. He claims to give class participation credit, but he never learns anyones name, so I think he bases that completely on the homework.
he is a very hard teacher, i thought learning hs was going to be interesting but after taking this class i was wrong. this is a test based class... so if you are not a good test taker Dont TAKE this class! the book is useless and so is his lectures
He is not very interested in teaching, and he often brings in guest speakers in to explain things that he could have easily done himself. It is very important to use the book in this class, but going to his lectures are not that helpful. Never takes attendance, but somehow he gives a grade based on attendance.
We never did anything in his class. There were no assignments, just tests. He never explained what it is that he wanted. He does not grade fairly.
This is a bird class. Tests are semi hard. Don't really read the book. Lectures are not for note taking, just to go over things. Funny guy, but probably would not take again.
you need to copy down every word out of mouth to pass the tests. you prob. need to read the book only twice. he gives written assigments like 5x. pretty much, all the people passing have a notebook filled with lec notes & all ppl failing dont.difficult class. tests r hard. dont text or talk during class. o & if u raise ur hand you'll get an A
everyone thinks sex ed will be a breeze. this teacher has 6 tests which your grade is based on solely. the tests are re-diculously difficult. avoid this teacher. especially if you skip class and dont pay attention and dont like to read. he's also really really crude. meaning, he refers the the anatomical parts in street slang. pretty grimy!

everyone said it was a good class for freshman to take NOT!!! the test are extremely hard and he is not the easiest man to talk to. he will make jokes and stuff throught class but dont let this fool you. also if you like to jst be silent during class this is not the class for you! honestly i dont understand how i passed but im glad i did!!
Not organized at all but his lectures are interesting. Rarely refer to the book and it is tough to be sure what the test will be on. Tests are not too tough if you go to lecture. I go to every lecture but never even take notes and havent gotten below a B.
This class is not easy. The lectures are amusing though. His tests are very hard. It's hard to know just what exactly will be on the tests. Many things on the tests were not discussed in the lectures at all, so you have to read the chapters, which are pretty long. He likes to pick on people too so if you're quiet, I don't reccomend this class.
He's a funny guy but the class isn't very organized. You'll go to class to listen to a rant or two. The tests are stupid simple but he'll throw in some loaded questions every now and then. I never read the book and I got a 89.9% in this class... come on...
Haha this class easy and funny. Your talking about sex! if you dont know this subject on your own by now im sorry. Jus go to class and pay attention and the tests will b a breeze. He doesnt pick on u if ur quiet, jus randomly calls on ppl to answer questions, jus avoid eye contact with him and it wont happen. Overall pretty entertaining :]
I failed every test and got a C, so yeah hes easy i guess.

Considers himself the Sex God. Interesting class but his notes are kind of unorganized. The test are mostly common sense.
You need to go to class. Listen to his lectures. Its every that he puts on the tests and its all simple common stuff things with the exception of a few concepts you need to learn. Class rarely goes over 20 minutes long. Hes a bit difficult to talk to after class, but I never tried going into office hours. Easy class overall.
nothing from the BOOK! Take notes, study notes and do the test. It's common sense but it's hard, u have to know it. bascially whatever he talks about in class its on the test. he Picks on ppl, hate that. Overall, i don't like this class, but i did read the first 3 chapters of the book, it's very informative, but don't need to. i stopped reading.
Likes to put students on the spot for answering questions. He hates the shy ones that dont say anything. PH 163 we had 4 exams and they were all lec based with a little chapter reading. Some effort and the ability to speak when called on will get you an A.
This is the worst professor I have had at Fresno State. I only had the class once a week and he only lectured for an hour at most. It is obvious that he is about to retire and does not care about his students. You never know what you're going to get when it comes to the tests. His lectures are all over the place. Horrible experience!
He makes a lot of jokes. The class was pretty easy and the tests are super easy too. I didn't have to study at all, just pay attention to his lectures. I earned an A in that class. Super easy GE class.

Super simple class. He likes to call on students a lot, and his questions are often confusing, because he words them weirdly. The tests are easy, and as long as you aren't weirded out that he's an old man teaching you about class, you'll have fun. He's a jokester and I LOVED this class.
Look if your shy this is not the class for you he will def call on you and he uses names that he feels like calling you he does give back test so you have an idea of your work however he's not too helpful outside of class but he does a review for test but its quick so read the book yourself and do all your assignments leave your cell phone home
He wil call on you in front of the class and be prepared to work in groups and laugh although he may embarrass u...he does give back test 2 days after you take it sooo read the book he appears like he dont care about students so be on top of you work
Super easy to pass. He's very straightforward . If you think sex is funny don't take this class because the giggling is annoying. I never purchased the book and got an A. Show up, pay attention, and CONTRIBUTE!
In order to pass you have to attend class. His exams are simple, but easy to fail if you get 4-5 questions wrong, it brings you down to a C or lower since there are only 20 questions on the test.
Don is a pretty cool teacher. This course has a lot in common with BA courses (ethics, management theories, etc) so if you've taken any of those it's simple. I never even went to class except for test review and I managed to get B's on all of the tests which are EASY. People that are looking to have their hands held should take a different class.
grade based on tests you take at the testing center. questions come from class lecture and the book. only problem i had with the class was the teacher. He is not helpful at all and whenever i asked a question in his office or after class he basically rolled his eyes or answered sarcastically. he made me feel dumb. love the class, not the teacher

The class was fun at times, but the teacher did a poor job explaining and most of the time students would not get a grade higher than a B on his tests because the test material was not discussed in class or were not in the book. In this class he will call on you so be prepared for that. Also the tests are the only thing that go towards your grade
Loved it. Best sexual health class. Every college student should take it; you'll learn so much about things you didn't even know about. No class on Fridays. Doesn't do roll call so not going is tempting but tests are entirely based off lectures so take good notes. Books optional. Picks randomly so don't be shy. Easy tests & easy pass.
The class is fun, beware he picks on you! his lectures are really off tangent. and he isn't that clear on what will be on the test. Reading the book doesn't really help either. Sometimes the tests are like "what the heck?" and i went to class every day. sometimes he will go over the tests sometimes he wont. NO CLASS on fridays! if you have mwf
He is really unclear on assignments and test can be confusing because the way they are worded. There are only a few hw assignment and 6 tests in the UTC. He usually cancels class on Friday and has an online assignment. The key to getting an A is participating without him calling on you. Easy A if you talk!
In my opinion, he is the worst professor I have had a Frenso State. He cancels class on Friday's and lectures for about 20 minutes when we do hold class. Which sounds awesome until you realize how difficult the tests are. I do not think he should be allowed to teach 163, simply because he puts forth zero effort. Recommend staying clear of his class
Pretty easy class, but his lectures are vague and not clear, not clear on what's going to be on the exam, randomly gives a test date. Picks randomly on students. Tests are at the testing center. Class consisted of 6 exams , no paper etc. Attendance not mandatory, lots of small group discussions. overall easy and exams are mostly common sense
Donald Matlosz is probably one of the worst professsors to take. He's funny and all but the tests are hard. hes careless and never answers emails.
Donald is very hilarious, but I wouldn't recommend anybody to talk his class. His test are old and can be difficult. Probably one of the worst professors I've had. I recommend you read the textbook for taking the test.
Dr. Matlosz has been my favorite professor this semester. Show up to class and take notes on lectures. He brings the exam to class and goes over it before exam days. No class fridays, used for case studies. Easy A if you show up and take notes.
This class was not as bad and difficult as I expected. Easy A, but if take it too easy you may fail easily too. Take notes in class, and memorize memorize memorize! Goes over exams and notes. Basically how it works is, "You heard it in lecture- you saw it in lecture- it will be tested on."
Two words: Madame Wiesel. He will give you that name (or any random name according to what you're wearing) & pick on you! DO NOT TAKE HIM! He's a joke & he's got quite an imagination. Your grade is ONLY based on his exams which aren't always easy.
Just remember that you basically cannot trust his exam system. Correct answers marked wrong, irrelevant questions, typos, many mistakes. The exams are fairly easy but you just cannot rely on it. Lectures are kind of pointless since nothing is really on the exam. Exams are basically anything he wants to put on it. hes hilarious but exams are off
No class Fridays. Be prepared for group discussions and call out questions. Quizzes were online and confusing. Most questions are random selection and correct answers marked wrong. Class is pointless to attend. Everything he used in class was on blackboard.
BEWARE! If you can wait to take this course with another professor, I highly recommend it! He has been the worst professor I've taken here at state. He is rude, sarcastic, and does not care about his students. The only thing he brings to class is a plastic bottle of "Fruit Fiz" that he reuses all semester. You cannot trust his exam system at all.
Matlosz is a horrible Professor . His test are difficult because its nothing that we learn. If you get a question right it might be marked wrong and he doesnt respond to emails. His lectures are confusing all he does is drink out a water bottle rub his hands together and walks back and forth. He jumps from topic to topic and he is rude sarcastic.
He is by far the worse professor I have ever come across. He is flat out disrespectful, his tests have typos, and sometimes his answer key is wrong. He is very rude and I am not sure why he is still able to teach!

He asks ?'s & randomly points @ students&expects them to know the answer. Watching him trying to navigate through the internet is painful. Lecture provides a few answers to the exam. The book is worthless. The test is filled with irrelevant ?'s, filled w typos. Youre either going 2 fail an exam or youll pass w the help of quizlet. PLZ do better FS
Do not take his class. Very unclear on his exams, because the exam questions are VERY irrelevant. There are no class on Fridays. He does not respond to e-mails or does not show up to his office hours. It is very hard to reach out to him. Avoid taking him.
No classes in Friday, lectures are boring, tests are online and timed but hardly makes any sense. He doesn't go back to review it as well. AVOID TAKING! He tries to be funny.
Worst teacher there is at Fresno State. You dont learn ANYTHING in his class. Pretty much anything he says is not on the test. Lecture is pointless. Book is totally useless. For his online tests that is 40-50 questions, maybe 5 questions will be covered in class and in the book. I regret not taking during winter break. Hes rude and doesnt care.
His exams are TERRIBLE, he writes them and they have nothing to do with what he lectures on. No class on Friday. Make sure to take pictures of all your grades because he will somehow delete the whole classes scores and blame it on BB. I don't know how he's still a professor. You will have to read the book and it's not guaranteed to be on the test.
His articles are interesting. He only has 5 total test, one for each chapter. There is no Final. His assigned days are Mon, Wed, & Fri, but he does not have any Friday classes. HIs test are difficult, not because the material given is hard (it is actually easy) its because it does not match his lectures or readings. Key to passing is PARTICIPATE!!!
This class is difficult. The content itself is straightforward but the way you are tested on it is difficult. Despite this, if you participate and pay attention you will get something out of this class. Participation is the key for this class.
The worst professor on campus. He does not know what questions are on his exams, does not care that the questions online are wrong. He only shows phots of his travels during the lecture. Lecture has nothing to do with tests/quizzes. I'm a 4.0 student and this is the first C I have ever gotten. He cancels class a lot, best of luck.
Your grade is based off of 5 exams. I got C's on majority of my exams. Class is pointless but go because he'll give you points at the end of the semester to go towards your grade if you participate and talk a lot. Do NOT buy the textbook. I would of got a C but he offered 10 points extra credit so luckily I got a B. Class is only Mon & Wed
One of the most horrible professors that Fresno State has to offer, lectures have zero to do with his exams. His exams are worded incorrectly and make no sense, never responds to emails and consistently cancels class every Friday. If it wasn't for the help of course hero I would have probably not been able to pass this class. AVOID TAKING
Worst prof. Exams have typos and don't have ANYTHING to do with what he lectures on. Cancelled about 1/3 of the classes. Said he would give extra credit to those who talked in class, yet never put it in. He messed up grading on one exam and never changed it. He will ask the stupidest questions and call on anyone he wants, be prepared. Avoid!!!
He is absolutely a nightmare- I speak for many. You MUST participate and get on his good side to pass (I MEAN IT). His class and lectures are soo unclear. You have to participate, I cannot stress that enough. Do good on the test!! all are online. He cancels class on Fridays. Truly sucks that he is the only one who teaches ph 163. Goodluck!!!
A nightmare. At least 35%-40% of his links did not work. His exams have so many typos that you cannot answer the questions properly. The exams and lectures have nothing to do with the book. The exams have zero to do with lecture. He never added my participation points (I would use my computer to project our class material) or fixed my exam scores!
He was all over the place, and students definitely need to participate to get on his good side. Also, he is a bit odd at times because he will talk about random things, or go extremely off topic. If you absolutely need to take a class taught by him, take it day by day he isn't as bad as some comments make him out to be.
Worst professor ever. Exams have absolutely nothing to do with lectures or textbook. Promised class he would give extra exam points and participation points at the end of the semester and NEVER did. He is so grumpy and does not like when people confront him for being unfair/not putting in points. I did not get the grade I should have gotten. AVOID.
He is a very unorganized professor and he would change dates and set up dates for tests and quizes very last minutes. Students barely have time to prepare for it. His tests and quizzes are time with 1 min per question but once you move forward, you cant go back to fix any questions. Choose someone else if there's a choice.

Absolutely the worst professor. He did not teach at all! His lectures were unplanned, random, & sporadic. They did not make sense. This was the same with his Canvas-- he puts random photos & videos that do not relate to any class contents. Lastly, his tests were random & were not covered in the lectures nor book. It had a lot of mistakes & typos.
In this class there is a total of 4 test and 2 quizzes. Quizzes are random and the syllabus is not accurate so I would show up to class to get credit on it . Promised extra credit the whole year and made it seem like if we went to class every thing would be okay. This is a lie ! Gives barley any points ! AVIOD AT ALL COST.
Class consisted of 4 exams and 2 quizzes. SIT IN THE FRONT, and have him remember your name! PARTICIPATE as much as possible. The material on canvas was not relevant to the information lectured in class. We stayed on chapter 2 or 3 the WHOLE semester. Do not waste your money renting or buying the book because we never used it.
He goes off-topic a lot and his Canvas is super disorganized. His tests do not cover anything from the lecture or the book. His questions have so many spelling and grammar mistakes. I would get confused and not do well. What's worse is that you can't go back & change your answer, and he gives you very little time to take it.
He's not very transparent with his students. A lot of the lecture material is irrelevant to the book. Speaking of the book, I wouldn't recommend buying or renting it because we've never even used it. Plus his exam system is horrible. 50 questions in 45 minutes. No changing answers. Too many grammar and spelling errors.
The structure for the class was a mess, the professor does not follow the syllabus. Exams planned on different days, little time to complete, errors on exams, lectures on irrelevant information, textbook was not used, and difficult to reach. I recommend taking another professor.
Avoid taking this professor. His Canvas was a mess, his lectures were off-topic and his tests had too many typos. He makes a lot of mistakes but refuses to fix them and so it would eventually affect our grade. It's like he doesn't even care. He promised to give us participation points by the end of the semester, but no, that was a lie.
Lectures were irrelevant, Canvas was disorganized and lots of grammar errors on tests. It's like his class is designed to fail you. He doesn't even care at all. Unfortunately, he's the only professor for this class.
Only four exams; class is not mandatory but gives extra credit if you do attend class and participate. He's sarcastically funny. People who failed or got bad grades because they did not attend lectures. Fridays are only exam days, besides that school is only on Monday and Wednesday. LOVE his class.
He's whatever. His lectures do play a part in the exams. However, his exams heavily depend on your prior knowledge in PH. I did not attend any classes besides for the exams and quizzes, and still got a C+. Could have easily got a B if I tried attend class.
Mr. Matlosz's lectures and class structure were off-topic, unrelated to course content, and his assigned textbook was useless. His lack of care for students and poor rating on Rate My Professor should be enough evidence. He does not take his job seriously, and it is surprising nothing has been done about it.
