He's a GREAT professor. He makes the class work very clear, showed us great documentaries, explained and backed up his reasoning and he made the class so fun! He also treats everyone with respect and allowed us to share our feelings/opinion on topics too! He didn't give much homework either :)

He is a good professor, he has strong views about education but that is his oppinion. I improved a lot ever since I took his class.

Professor Monaco was the first professor at LaGuardia to open my mind to a different way of looking at things- he is intelligent, kind, refreshing and honest and I am very lucky to have been able to take a class with him!

Doesnt pile up with home work or tests. Meanwhile was able to explain his topics very clear.

I think he's a pretty cool guy. If he thinks you're not paying attention though he'll totally blow up your spot.

Monaco is a great professor. Yes he leans left. Yes he rants. Yes he is politically motivated. Yes he can be a bit tough and rough. But it is a different point of view. He is not indoctrinating us in leftist propaganda...he is freeing us from the propoganda we have been indoctrinated in since we were kids. Also he backed up everything he said.

He is Great! I loved the way he makes you think critically about the system of education (which is the point of the class). He has strong opinions, so if you are a right-wing person be ready! Very intelligent man and writing papers for him will be fun.

mr. donald is very comprihensive in his teaching. he made sure that everyone partisipated in the class. he is, as everyhumanbeing should be, motivated by the "truth" that mentioned in the textbook, the documentaries and last but not least from the reality of life about social and global conflicts. tough but very caring about students to understand.

Be clear in his Essay. And dont forget, write your essay according to the second part of the topic to get an A

Excellent teacher! I would recommend him for dedicated students who love to expand thier mind. If your essay skills are poor I would not suggest taking this professor since he does grade on a 4 year level.

This professor helped me understand current world economic,cultural issues as well as american and world history.If you want a broad understanding of world and local economic and cultural phenomena, take his class. If you're good in essay writing, getting an A is quite easy.

Monaco is a great professor, demanding of his students. You will be earning your grade in the course. This course confirmed a lot to me about the way society is set up, and corporations/gov't role in our society. This is a writing intensive course. I recommend to anyone who is interested in knowing the truth about local and world events.

Prof. Mocaco is grat teacher. if you go to Laguardi just to pass the class, do not take him. he is the teacher that opened my eyes to many issues. if you want to learn things take his class.HI IS VERY GOOD PROFESSOR!!!!!

Prof. Monaco's class offers an insightful view of the social system we live in. In his course you will gain important knowledge. I highly recommend taking a course with him becouse it will be worth it!

if u want to take his class make sure you are a good writer. if you write well you can get good grade in his class. i got C on midterm essay, but on final i got A. he understands your hard work, but he makes you speak a lot. i was embarrased a lot! Professor Monaco is tough. But he is a very good professor. He explains the topic with clarity. Class discussions are extremely important in his class cuz' he based part of your grade on your participation. You cannot be shy in his class. You should also be good in writing essays, very particular with grammar and spelling. Get a proofreader.

Although this class was difficult it was worth every penny spent. It opened my eyes to the truth behind this world. He was a great teacher, very passionate about what he taught. You could tell it wasn't just a job it was his life. I would take this class again. Be prepared to write a lot though

Fuckin' hippie. Teaches conspiracy theory as fact. Offered leftist looney propaganda about 9/11 as an option for final paper. Do the work and write what he wants to hear. I got an A but wanted to correct him in nearly ever lecture.

He's a great teacher.He does have his flaws, he is extremely tough on grading and will not except your absences and latenesses unless you have a documented excuse. Now you do have to understand that he is trying to prepare you as a student for a 4 yr college being a LAGCC student we all know how easy it is to get good grades there.its good to prepa

Professor Monaco is very knowledgeable of the subject he is teaching. He expects full attentiveness from the students, which I think is a good thing, as class room is not a place to sleep. Got to learn many facts and truth from this class. He is perfect for the course. Be devoted to the course and you'll get a good grade.

Prof. Monaco WILL PREPARE YOU for a four-year college! We weren't allowed to use the bathroom or eat except during the break and he is somewhat of a tyrant when it comes to proper grammar and content for his papers--- again, Prof. Monaco WILL PREPARE YOU for a four-year college. If you dont like challenge or not interested in learning about the society we live in, then don't take his class. He is an amazing professor and extremely knowledgeable. Let me add to my previous comment, that he DOES care about his students. Just because he's not lenient and expects the students TO DO challenging work doesnt mean he doesn't care about the students. Professor Monaco class opened my eyes to alot of stuff that is going on the world. The documentaries shown in class was very interesting, you will enjoy. Do all his papers and you will get a good grade, that's if you are a good writter, if not go to the writing center for help. He will see you are making the effort.. I got an A

In my opinion, he is one of the best professors in the school. He is very strict but you will learn so much that it will change your point of view of how the world functions, in politics. If your looking for an easy A, don't take his class. If you looking to actually learn and have a critical point of view of how this country works than do.

Class was hard but you learn a lot even though I tried so hard and got A- on the mid.term my course grade was B. I was little upset because I did all the extra credit works, too. So that's how you gonna get graded. Lets be honest i didn't see my final grade and i don't think it was that bad because i went to writing center, too.

He's a good professor. He can be boring sometimes but you know what, just listen and you'll do fine. His assignments are specific and he's not an easy grader. It's fine,I personally found it worth it even though it wasn't great all the time. If you have to take this class and have no interest in the topic, he doesn't make it that bad.

He is a very good professor. I would highly recommend him. You have to work hard, though. It is not an easy class to take. Never be absent and always read the chapters. Professor Monaco was amazing!.. He is very passionate and gives you an enlightenment on the subject that NOONE else would dare. He unpacks the information in way that is easy to understand and he helps you connect it to what is happening the world today. The knowledge you acquire is for your own benefit, you will not be the same person in the end.

Took him over the Summer. I was intimated at first but this Prof is simply amazing. He breaks everything down, You will learn A LOT and the TRUTH about the political system. Tough grader, you must read, do all assignments and show up for class or you won't pass. He cares about his students and will give an extension if needed. I LOVED THIS CLASS.

Took him in the summer. Great class and he lays out what is expected. You must read the books and must pay attention to the lectures. Do that, and you'll love this class. The people who are on here bad mouthing him are the ones who didnt do the reading, played on their phone in class, and then wonder why the two papers are hard to write.

Laid back and opens up your way of viewing life. I have his class on Saturday 3 hours. And the time goes by very quickly. I honestly don't know why he has some "bad reviews" maybe these people writting are those who comes to class with nothing to write, and playing on their phone. First essay I did I got an A.

He is such an amazing professor, I will for sure miss his class. We did 3 essays no midterm no final, just in class essays. Amazing lectures, he allowed an outline during the first 2 essays except for the last one. Don't go late, he hates that!

He will explain everything for you in a way you will understand Sociology. He writes on the board good notes that will make you pass his essays (So study your notes) participate and you will pass. Don't come late! Awesome prof! TAKE HIM!

Don't fool yourself! Right at the beginning of the semester, it seems horrible but as you get to know the subject, and get to read the books assigned for his classes, it turns out to be very, very interesting! I really liked the glasses.

This class can be boring for someone who shows no interest in the professors lectures which is probably why a lot of people didn't do so well. I cannot blame the professor for this. He told us ahead of time how many assignments we will be given and how they will be graded and gave us the proper resources. But anyway, interesting class!

Monaco is a great professor. He analyzes 3 authors who are critics of the corporate community & the political system. It is heavy material but VERY interesting so I would highly recommend his class. He is a tough grader but very manageable if you follow his instructions. He is not a Trump nor a Clinton supporter so disregard the previous comments.

Lots of high-level reading, but if you're serious about learning and developing your views of our political world, then you should take him. He's a wonderful professor who analyzes the political system and how corporate power plays a large role in our politics.

Honestly, this was the most interesting class I've taken at LaGuardia. Nothing like I expected. A very critical class that really does teach you more about our government system. The easiness depends on how well you pay attention and take notes. Literally just read, pay attention and hand everything in on time. Prof makes the class interesting!

Such an interesting class, he is really passionate about his work. I learned quite a lot about out government past and present. The texts were very interesting and clear he's a tough grader but so long as your paper follows the guidelines and you get your point across clearly you'll do well. I would definitely take him again.

After I read the coments about this professor, I was scared. Now, I am glad that I took his class. No exam in class, all papers are take home exams. You have to do a lot of research but if you do the projects and you will be present in class you will get an A.

Many people dont like that hes strict but I dont be fooled his lessons are worth it. I recommend taking him when youve at least taken ENG 101 because he like punctuation, grammar and spelling. His lessons makes you realize the reality you live in, in America. If you dont like strict dont take him but hes worth taking.

Professor Monaco is a good professor and will open your eyes to a different side of politics. He may be a tough grader, but he basically tells you what he wants on the essays during his lectures. Take notes, don't eat in class, and show up to class. His book recommendations are top notch too.

Mr. Monaco is awesome. He is kinda serious but switches up his vibe and be pretty laid back& funny . There is no homework so grades are based on participation and assigned reading. Class discussions are always interesting and he has soooo many references to offer for the material he teaches. Tests are fair! All in together hes a great professor!

Great professor. Didnt get a lot of class time before the coronavirus made our classes go online. During the time I was there he was passionate about the topics and would make you realize things many times in his lectures. I wish we had more in class time. His online classes are just readings in the textbooks and questions about the key ideas.

His class was not what I expected at first. Still, I'm happy I took it he provided us with many references to read which has expanded my way of thinking I can say his class showed me a different side of politics and the world and how it works I would retake his course, no doubt about it.

Not gonna lie, he was a chill professor. I took him for Fall 2020 during covid 19. He was lecture heavy but there were no tests. Grades Only 3 short essay assignments and one midterm and final essay / discussion boards . (something like that) If you email him, he will response quickly and grades quickly too. Overall, he was a good professor.

Prof. Monaco and I had very different political views, but not once did I feel like I had to hide them or change my view. In fact, he made me use my critical thinking to provide base to my argument. He's a great professor and yes, you will have to work hard, and write a lot, but that's the point of college and social sciences...

I attend BMCC and I took his class for Fall 2020. I really enjoyed his class. For his class, you definitely need the textbook or else you will fail. We only had 3 quizzes and 3 exams for the semester and it was a breeze. As long as you pay attention during lecture and read you will be perfectly fine.

I loved his class, the professor is very smart, respectful, kind, and patience. You will have to do a few writing assignments and some discussion boards and you will be fine.

He is a serious thinker who doesn't mince words. Even if you disagree with his political opinions, you won't be disregarded if you give facts and sources, not just what you heard on some dopey guy's video. It's not an easy grade, but you'll look back on this class as a pivotal period in your life.

I went through undergrad and onto grad school in 2016-21 at CUNY all the way through. I have to say that Donald Monaco was the best professor I had at LaG, SPS and Hunter combined. I still think about his lectures years later. I still get indignant at some of his feedback and then remember the value of his pushing against worn out tropes. DO IT!

Professor Monaco's class is challenging but rewarding. He encourages critical thinking and free expression of views, even if they differ from his own. The workload is heavy, but using resources like unstuck ai for study prep can be really helpful. Overall, a great learning experience.
