Funny guy, interesting lectures. use the study guides for exams and STUDY THEM and you will do fine

Cool gut, one of those I don't care if you show professors. just take notes, participate, and use his study guide. He is an easy professor, but the material is hard, take advantage of the supplementary instruction offered with his course. do extra credit!

I took his class over the summer. Really nice guy and turned inforamtion that i didn't care about into something a bit interesting. COol guy and how often do you see a professor wear shorts!
tests are straight from notes, don't buy the book.
made biology easy....tests are on the notes..read the book if u want a better grasp
One of those guys you don't need to buy the book for...he tests exclusively off the notes. Nice guy, willing to help you out if you ask him. I'd take him again.
I had this class for ffour hours one night a week. He still made it pretty interesting. Didn't buy the book and still did well. I think hes a pretty cool guy and had fun goofing off with my friends in his class. Learned a lot.
I never worked harder in any class than his, and got C+ for the course. His testing was horrible. Taught by giving definitions and having these definitions worded quite differently on the test. He was a smug pug!!! He seemed pleased that ave. grade 69%
pretty easy clas..good guy...don't buy textbook....just study your notes for test, and u'll do great! take him
Great guy....weird...funny....tests suck!!
They should list his name under Smoothe. He's absolutely hilarious. I wish the course wouldn't end so he could keep supplying me with studies that support polygamy. I wish I had more hands, so I could give him 4 thumbs up
He is somewhat easy. He gives 3 tests and you really get to make up for bad grade with 3 quizzes. He is really funny.
Well, at least I passed (barely)
Very throrough in his teaching I was not a great Biology student in highschool but I learned a great deal from him. He relates what we are learning to things wich affect our lives today
I was NOT into taking this class at all, especially since it was hyped as very hard. He gives great lectures (easy to follow) and tangible and often funny examples. Tests are decent, not impossible, and there are no papers! I'd recommend him to anyone.
Good teacher. You dont need the book at all. Tests can be kinda hard though. nice guy.
tests are really hard. he is a good guy though
His tests are rediculously hard! No one passed! He was quite pleased that the average was a 68. He offers no extra help for the tests and the test questions are very elaborate. They go into much more depth than he does so everything is tricky. Take someone else! SAVE YOURSELF
He's a good guy. Funny, makes class interesting, trys to simplify notes so that you understand it better. Tests are kinda hard, but he lets you re-take the test as a group and gives you extra points for doing that. I'd recommed him.
funny, simplifies notes so you understand it, tests are decievingly hard b/c class notes aren't complicated. good sense of humor, kind of into himself, gives good examples and lets you redo the test for added pts to your score. 3 articles and lab help pull up the grade. GO TO LAB, it helps w/grade!
Worst class ever, do not take him!!! His class notes seem easy but his 3 multiple choice exams are tricky and he does not seem to care that the class average was a 66. He doesn't like questions and is difficult to talk to.

tests are a little on the difficult side, but offers enough extra credit to make up for it. He's funny, so he makes lecture interesting. I recommend.
Class and Tests are fairly easy, Group projects are ok just hard to do in a weeks worth of time. Will not let you make up the group project either, or work by yourself. Extar Credit on exams, MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE CLASS FOLLOWING THE EXAM AT ALL COSTS. Didn't buy the book either, just go to class take his notes and pay attention, Nice guy!
Such a cute little man. Tough class, but he is soo nice and cute. If I could but 3 chili peppers I would!
Was a bio major b4 this class...HE SUCKS!! & idk what the other people postin are sayin hes hot 4 unless theyre smokin some major crack... The man is a dick... i had a 3.5 and hes the reason my gpa fell this semester... AVOID AT ALL COSTS... hes on a power trip, i think sum1 forgot 2 tell him hes a prof at a state school?
He's awesome,I absolutely love him.He teaches really well.Yes the ave on the exams were mostly 70's,but I managed to get 80's and 90's on them,so it depends on how much you study.Don't buy the book, you don't need it.You get to take the exam over with a group and he always gives everyone the 5pts.
Although I learned a lot because his teaching style is very good-- great notes and diagrams and examples, I and many in the class found the exams harder than we expected despite preparation. Questions on exams can be vague; "if this, MIGHT that" or "COULD this be something." Frustrating, however, the class is enjoyable and I still learned a lot.
He is great. He provides notes on overhead and explains labs. Take good notes and review them for the exams. You need to be able to apply the information discussed in class. Go to class the day after the exam and he gives 5 extra points. Class average on the exams was in the 70's but I managed to get high 80's and low 90's. You don't need the book.
OMG I thought he was so sexy and he loves American Idol.
This is a tough one, hes a cool guy notes are cool, and you know and learn everything he says, but the tests are BS, its mult choice but they trick you so bad, i would do better on a 50 essay question test.i got a B, study and u'll do fine.
Very knowledgable, explains well. Very cute.
Hey is a wicked nice guy, and the class in not too easy or too hard, so I didn't mind going at all. He is goofy, but over all I would take him again.
Finally it's over! Very enjoyable class, but hardest working GER. Its not too difficult, but you do have to work for your grade. The time always flew by, and the material was easy to understand. Save your scantrons, and go the day after every test, and your gooldeeennn :)
Difficult course for a GER/non-lab, but very interesting. He is really nice, pretty funny too. Class always flew by and 99% of the time we got out after like a 30-40 min lecture. Good course, you have to work for it a bit but well worth it. Would take him again definetely. Wonder if he does any lab sciences????
He was a good teacher. The class flew by. If you study the material you will do fine.
okay he has to be one of the worst prof ever... its nice to have a class test average be a 56...dont take this class with him...he sucks and is not helpful if you go to him
I just got finished taking him for a five hour summer class 3x's a week. His class went by quickly, and his appearance is laid back. The tests are hard, but if you study thouroughly, you should be fine. Our test averages were usually around 72, and I got what I needed! Cool guy. Take him and you'll learn a lot.
We were warned on day one what was expected for the intro bio course. His advice was 100 percent correct. You must be there in class, take notes, pay attention, read the material, and STUDY. Easy going professor, a good sense of humor, but expects students to perform like the COLLEGE students they are!!!! I learned so much!
Test are very hard. Info on test not all related to his lectures. Lectures boring. Tough Grader. Not an easy GER. Labs easy. Lab quizes so so. Take him but must really understand bio. Test are the worst part of this class always 50 m/c 3 tests 3 articles 5 lab quizes 10 labs 20 pts worth of xtra credit
This course contains too much material for an intro -bio course. Tests were hard and some things were not even covered in class.
This class is just too difficult for an into-bio class. He is not a very good instructer because he writes notes on an overhead...does not even attempt to explain things clearly. His tests cover material that was never presented.I am an A-B student and with much effort I earned a C! The majority of the class earned C's...many failed his class.
This class def. contains a lot of information. He is a funny guy but doesn't scale tests. The tests are hard because he likes to do all of the above none of the above or two of the four and so on. I am an A student and will barely pass w/ a C. But he is a nice guy in general just not a good teacher
His lectures are really simple and teaches down to the students. But when its time to take the test the questions are much harder then his lectures. Tests are not easy for non-science majors. Lots of information in this class. Text is not really used in class, but recommended for tests.
The lectures were very good. Even if you're not interested in the subject, he's very energetic and animated when he teaches and refers to illustrations and charts found in the book. The book is good for studying but he mostly tests on the information that is taught in class. Good professor, I enjoyed the class/lab and he was fair.
He's funny and interesting.
Padgett rocks! His stories are both hilarious and entertaining. I spent half the class laughing at his adventures and the other half doing fun experiments. The lab quizzes are comprehensible, and there's no manipulation whatsoever. If you show up, study before class, and participate, it's an easy A.
Awesome professor. The course itself was pretty difficult (which he mentioned at the start of the semester) but he made it bareable and pretty fun.
He is a really good prof, he's interesting. He makes the evening class fun. It is difficult to get an A, but it is possible, if you study, and go to class.
He a good teacher who seems to really like to teach. the tests are fairly difficult but he gives you chances to get extra points. Even though attendence isn't manditory he gets his exam questions are all from his lectures. If you take liberal notes you'll do fine.
boring and tests are difficult. i have no idea where he gets his questions from and they are all "all of the above, none of the above, some of the above.."i am an a/b student and i am expecting to receive a d
The class itself isn't bad and hes nice but his tests are horrible. He lets you retake them as a group for 5 extra pts but that doesnt do any justice. The final is all 3 exams stapled together. Stopped taking attendance halfway through semester. Not a bad class if you are amazing at test taking and know everything about biology.
This professor gave great lectures and I thought I understood everything he taught until it was test time. His tests were so complicated sometimes I wonder if we went over it in class. I liked him as a teacher but the tests were unbelievable. If you have a hard time taking tests don't take him, I regret it
nice and funny guy...but the tests are pretty hard - all on scantrons with multiple choice questions...he helps you bring the grades up with group work, but it doesn't usually make much of a difference. unless you excel in bio or have a photographic memory, you'll need to study a lot. i also don't like how he doesn't know anyone's name and doesn't care to.
(continued from below) he also doesn't know anyone's name and doesn't even try to...so it's a bit impersonal. i don't know why my ratings showed up as a smiley face...definitely a :-| face...nice guy but crazy tests.
I really enjoyed padgett as a professor - he's hilarious and know's his stuff. Ya the tests were hard, but not impossible - if you take good notes and go over them before the exam you should be fine. Plus he helps out with group work the days after the test. I definitely would take another class that he teaches
Very nice guy with a good sense of humor. Tries his best to make biology fun which is nearly impossible. Definitely try to get this professor for bio.
This guy is really impersonal and kind of boring. you dont even use your book that much, just make sure you read the power points a million times. Would'nt let me make up a quiz after having an operation on my foot... kind of a jerk.
Fantastic teacher! He explains things very well. He also gives a lot of information. As long as you pay attention in class and take great notes you will pass.
He has a great sense of humor. He will accommodate your needs if you have an issue with anything. Very helpful. MUST STUDY and review powerpoints.
This guy can be pretty hilarious. He knows his stuff. You can more than likely get through the class without the book as long as you take good notes. If you don't, get the book. Tests are pretty straightforward some questions seem kind of tricky, but he is trying to test you to see if you really know the answer. Overall a really good teacher.
This class was very boring. You db't need the book so don't bother buying it. His tests are ridiculous, I studied and couldn't get higher then a D. Half the questions weren't even reviewed. This is the only class that could stop me from graduating and getting my degree. I don't recommend him!
This class was incredibly easy. There is no need to purchase the book. Everything on the exams is directly from his notes in class. Very friendly and will address any concerns you have. I would highly recommend Prof. Padgett.
Great teacher! He is very knowledgeable and humorous. He teaches with enthusiasm and explains the information thoroughly. That being said, make sure you study hard for his tests. He makes them challenging. You need to know the material very well and read questions carefully. They can be tricky. Overall, I am expecting an A- or B+.
Great teacher! Engaging & funny. Tests are tough but fair & there's plenty of opportunity for extra credit. Yes, you have to do the work; yes you have to study & no, you don't need the textbook. You need to go to class and you need to take really good notes. Padgett is one of the best profs I've had at BSU
Great Professor!!! Lectures are very interesting.
First test is on 6 chapters. No one in the class did well. He did give you options for extra credit but not enough points to make a difference I fear. His lectures are interesting. He gives good examples but too much material to study for one test. Lots and lots of notes, don't miss class if you can help it.
Dr. Padgett is a very difficult teacher. Biology is very difficult to begin with, but this was even harder. Really need to study for the tests. On the first day he said his passing average is in the low 70s. Participation or attendance do not count towards your overall grade. Be there for notes in order to hopefully pass the hard tests.
He expects you to just know everything that he knows. He writes on the board in class but once he erases them they're gone forever. A lot of the time he forgets to write down what he's saying and just talks. He's not very helpful either, I emailed him asking about my grade and he said to just study harder, which was not helpful since I was lost.
He is a good professor, but speaks really fast and covers a lot of info super quick, so if you aren't paying attention you could miss stuff on the test. He provides a bathroom break for long lectures and has some pretty good jokes. He is skillful at getting his point across, but when he misses the mark he cannot explain it differently to help you
He is a great prof. Would recommend taking his class
He's a great professor. But don't skip class because you'll miss the notes and he never goes over anything twice. Study for the tests. He gives extra credit options.
Bio can be hard/ a lot of information but he makes it interesting. Every class we take notes, make sure to be there so you get all the infor! Do not get the textbook, class notes are the only things on the tests. 3 tests with 5pts extra credit on each. 1 final based on the 3 other tests. Deff take him, as long as you study you'll be fine !!
Dr. Padgett is definitely one of the best professors Ive had at BSU in my 3 years here. He gives knowledgeable lectures & hes funny too which keeps class interesting. His tests are multi choice 50 questions. Take notes! Hell give u a study guide to prep for the test. Tests are hard but if you attend lecture & study youll be ok. Highly Recommend
Very rude to students, has no respect for religion or differing opinions. Group projects are non-educational and a burden on your part. I learned nothing from lectures. "Review game" at end of semester had nothing to do with final. I learned nothing from this course and often left class angry.
Professor Padgett is a pretty cool guy. Hes funny and he keeps lectures somewhat interesting. He gives you the chance to get extra credit on tests and even on your final grade. Biology can be hard, but he really tries his best to help. I would take him again.
Only 4 tests and a final exam, but he also throws in some article readings and questions for points. I always did the study guides he gave us but the test material was never exactly the same. Extra credit offered the class after an exam. Only used the book on my own time to study. Barely ever homework, we just take notes in class. Thinks hes funny.
Biology is HARD but Padgett made the class enjoyable. His class is all lecture but his lectures are interesting. He has a good personality and tells some funny stories while lecturing. The material is a LOT to absorb. It is hard to pass his exams but plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Didn't use the book much at all. Exams based on notes
Amazing person, okay teacher. Lectures are long, but helps to attend. To pass you must study every little thing in the chapter. The tests are very long and there is only 3 tests. In addition to the tests are 3 assignments. That is all you are graded on. Somewhat of a boring class but he is willing to help if he is able to.
This is a lecture heavy class. Take good notes and study those notes hard. His tests are based on the lectures. I only used the book as a back-up to help study material I was not clear on in lecture. We had to switch this course to an online format due to Covid-19 and he provided clear weekly updates and uploaded great lectures online &he is funny!
I really hate this class and the professor doesnt make it any better. Its online this semester&he uploads ppts twice a week and just talks over them. I have learned NOTHING. Condescending in emails&the group assignments have 5+ ppl and theres covid &ppl cant coordinate times to work as a group&he doesnt budge/offer suggestions. Do not take him.
Took the summer section and I had no complaints. When I had to email him, he responded fast. Tests were harder than I expected, and often the class average was only in the 70s/80s. Pay close attention to lectures, and youll be fine. Opportunity for extra credit by retaking tests and getting an 80 or better. Overall, solid choice for bio!
Lecture heavy class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you miss, you'll also miss a ton of exam material. Only 3 or 4 exams and little to no outside work factor into your grade.
Hard to take notes in this class, & does not use textbook. Funny and engaging. His averages for tests and overall class is low I think he said 70s before so do not expect to excel in this class unless you have all the time in the world to study. Knows what he is talking about.
honestly the most frustrating class Ive taken. blackboard is locked all year long, you will not see your final grade until the end. Don't buy the textbook either I haven't opened it once. No study guide for the final, just had us take pics of the earlier exams to study from but the answers aren't on it and wants us to use our scantrons for answers
Approachable and knowledgeable. The material isn't too challenging, and the lectures are good. Exams are 100 percent based off of lectures and study guides so you NEED to study, otherwise you will struggle. Multiple opportunities for extra credit. Includes 4 very easy reading assignments. Definitely one of the better choices for BIO100.
He does not care if he talks 100 MPH, he will continue even if he sees you struggling to keep up. He's not helpful unless you ask, and then it's not a straight answer, just a cryptic "answer" that doesn't do anything to help. An hour and a half into lecture he's like"One last thing then we'll go to lab" and then proceeds to talk for 2 more hours
Professor Padgett has his blackboard locked all semester, so you can not see any grades. He gives lectures without powerpoints, and since the blackboard is locked he provides no matarial to study from. Syllabus says we will do jeapordy before exams, which my class never did. Other professors give practice exams and powerpoints. Would not recommend.
Lectures are heavy and you are excepted to memorize a lot, but Dr. Padgett makes it fun and easy! Don't expect much feedback on your exams or quizzes, though. If you study his lecture slides, you will be just fine.
tests are easy if u study & u do group papers w 3 people that u choose best class ever to take at an 8 am
Heavy on the lecture, if you miss a class you might be out of some important info on the next exam. Exams are challenging and have specific questions and diagrams to draw so make sure you study all of the lecture slides. Overall a pretty average class but Padgett is extremely nice and will go out of his way to answer extra questions.
If you miss a class, youre in trouble. Very difficult exams and they are practically the only thing you're graded on. Tests are nothing like the study guide. Is a nice guy, but ultimately not the best professor. Would not recommend.
good guy but just take the class with anyone else or anywhere else
This is online. 4 pretty long exams. You must read 3 articles then submit answers to questions. When you complete the article submission with your group, no feedback is given. You get your grade and no commentary. He sends a class email with the average grade and general criticism for the entire class. Rude via email as well. Would NOT take again.
He is okay as a person but does NOT know how to teach. Please do not take for BIOL122 because you will most likely need to retake it for a better grade. Would never take again.
He is an amazing guy and is really funny, but the way his course is set up makes it almost impossible to pass with a good grade. He is a really good guy and loves what he does so I feel bad giving him a bad rating, but this class was just set up terrible.
Not a bad professor himself but there are only 4 exams and a group project that your grade depends on. You really can't miss a class as it's always notes and he locks blackboard so you will not be able to see the notes for that day. He is a good guy and funny just not the best profess in the way the class is structured.
Padgett is actually an excellent teacher, he teaches biology in a way that I am sure anyone could understand. HOWEVER, if you plan on missing class I would consider taking a different class. He has no blackboard and does NOT post lectures or grades at all. However if that isnt an issue I would 100% reccomend him as he is incredibly wise.
A real G
Well where do I start. Very dry and unapproachable type of proud professor who looks down on students and is absolutely unpleasant to work with. Would never take any of his classes again!!!!!!
He is great at getting information across in his lectures, but he does not have a blackboard and therefore has no information outside of the classroom. He only grades the 4 tests and 4 reading assignments. He is very funny and enthusiastic though. Just fine.
This professor was terrible. No blackboard so attendance is self-mandatory. He only grades you by in person exams and group projects. Can't teach. I would NEVER take him again. (I'm taking bio again and am receiving an A with a different professor)
He is a very funny guy, and gives great real life examples of the material to help you understand. Takes live notes. Exams are challenging, but just use the study guide and textbook to review.
Padgett keeps the lectures engaging, but his strict attendance policy and lack of online resources make this class a challenge. Thankfully, tools like Unstuck study helped me stay on top of the material and pass with a decent grade.
I really hated his side of the bio 122 lecture. He was kind of rude when I missed a test and never gave back grades.
If you are willing to come to class and study a little its really not that bad. I am not good at science but his lectures were interesting, engaging, and made bio understandable. He is old school and does not have any online material so you have to come to class, but he gives an extensive study guide before tests so if you miss a day its on there
Nice professor overall and funny, but very difficult material and in my opinion does not make it easy to study or understand what you need to know for the exams/quizzes (which make up your whole grade besides lab). Class is doable but if you don't attend even 1 lecture it's going to be hard for you to figure out what's going on.
The best teacher ever!!!!!!!! Every chem / bio / human anatomy teacher i've had since i've WISHEDDDD the labs were taught by him bc of how fun and hilarious he mad the class. he actually explained the labs and demonstrated them and helped you do them, lectures didn't really matter. the goat fr fr
Didnt do well with his teaching style.
