Is not helpful teaching in class. Tests are very hard. He just talks about his clients and he loves Wegmans
He is actually good professor.
Worst teacher I've had since coming to the school. He changed the format of his test 3 times(for 3 tests.) He doesn't teach anything helpful so kids stopped showing up. He responded by making a final on nothing but information from class. Doesn't really care about his students like the other SOM professors do. Avoid him if you can.
The guy loves the hell out of the subject, but thats here the positives end. His lectures are mainly him talking about the Raymond Corporation or Wegmans with a some of the material worked in there if you can stay awake. He isn't clear on what is on the tests, and has changed the format each time due to different complaints. Avoid if you can
This guy is very passionate about the subject. He has many years of experience in the field. However, he is new to teaching and his lectures are so boring. Even if you go to class you will do poorly. Tests are nothing like his lectures. Makes his own questions. Avoid this guy.
Great Professor! I don't know what people are talking about. He really cares about his students and he is always available during office hours. His second test had a 14 point curve and the final had an 11 point curve. Very knowledgeable guy and he truly has a passion for what he does. People should actually pay attention in class!
Sheldon is a really nice, smart guy who obviously is an expert in op. management. However, he is not a good teacher. His lectures are boring and always cover way more material than needed. About 1/4-1/3 of the class regularly showed up to class. The tests are hard and have obscure info from the Powerpoints on them. Great curves though.
The professor is ok. He is very passionate about the field that he teaches in, but he doesn't teach much during lecture so I never really attended. His tests are pretty hard, but he has awesome curves and rarely lets his students fail. The curves save his students and he helps them succeed by having massive curves.
Only giving the easiness a 2 because his tests had huge curves. Went to class 5 times and the tests were super hard but still did well because of the curve
I never rate professors but these people obviously are the ones who never went to class. He is brilliant in the subject that he teaches, literally wrote the book on it. Go to class and pay attention. too many slackers banking on curves. I received a 100 on 2nd test cause too many slackers didn't go to class and failed = large curve. Not a bad guy
He is too passionate about his job. He talks too much about his job/real-life examples and not enough about the material. however, he is very nice and i think a little too generous (although I did benefit greatly from his curves)which makes students slack off but still get average to good grades. Good person but not a good teacher
The course was straight forward, he curved tests and adjusted homeworks if there was an issue. It is at times a dry subject but honestly it was not a difficult course. Those people who did not pay attention or come to class obviously did not do well. He is very friendly and accommodating. He has industry experience and he is an author and
These previous comments clearly display how spoiled business students are. Forget anyone who says Sheldon doesn't help his students - he does. Yeah he brings industry experience, like the best profs should! As a new prof he's figuring our his testing style, but students are more than rewarded for this. Go to class ya bums.
I took Sheldon in the Fall and to be honest, he's a good teacher. He likes to talk a lot about his experiences which is why some students don't like him but in reality that's what a business teacher should do. Read his powerpoints to get the A. Not a hard class with the astronomical curve he gives.
HE is a very helpful professor and is really interested in the class. Just study the slides and go over homework and you should do fine on the tests. Homework is a big part of the grade which should be an easy 100 if you just try
He is the best!! Extremely responsive to any questions and always willing to help students. Material is easy to follow and he is truly passionate about operations management!
Great Professor! Go to his office and talk to him! He will help you no-matter what it is. He helped me find a job!
He is professional. His really good at professional life
I took OPM 311 just this fall semester (2014). He is an amazing teacher, and has a great knowledge of what he is teaching. He inspired students to study OPM by telling stories how he works with customers. Tests are hard, so make sure you come to class, take good notes, and study his review sheet for exams. if you dont buy textbook, it is fine!
I didn't really enjoy this class, granted I find OPM one of the most boring things on this planet. The material was pretty dense and uninterested in my experience, and he spent way too long talking about his own IRL experiences which didn't help much. I'd say avoid if possible, but prob impossible to do if you need S-Core.
This is a pretty easy class, although quite boring. Usually only half the class showed up for lectures. If you're there most of the time, you should pass. I got two 78's and an 81 on the three exams and ended up with a B+.
read slides, you will get a good grade
This class changed my life. His passion for the subject rubbed off on me and compelled me to look for jobs in Operations Management for my future career. I understand how people can think it was boring, but if you like it this could be a life changing class.
Sheldon is definitely passionate about his job and he displays that very well. His class definitely isn't a piece of cake but if you go to the lectures and really pay attention you will be fine. He's extremely nice and loves student feedback about tests. I would definitely take this class or any class with Sheldon. Highly recommended.
Sheldon is a really good professor and very passionate about what he teaches. He can get a little confusing during his lectures, but the slides have pretty much everything you need to know. His tests are a lot of true/false which can be good or bad depending on the person taking it.
you can tell he is passionate about the subject. he's a great guy but sometimes can be boring but the subject can be interesting in some ways. sheldon tries to make sure you pass by giving your highest test score twice the weight as the other tests and by having a low cutoff for an A. however make sure you go to class as textbook is useless.
Extremely fair professor who is passionate about the subject he teaches and really cares about his students. He provides a lot of resources to study for the exams. Make sure to pay attention to the study guides and practice questions he puts out.
The way he grades makes it very easy to get an A, however his lectures are so boring because he only talks about himself and his company. For the second half of the semester, I only went to class once a week and still got an A because he posts all of his slideshows to Blackboard. You don't learn much in class but he does bring interesting speakers.
Easy class. Read the slides and the study guide the day before the test and you will be fine. you don't ever have to go to class
Great Professor! Is clearly an expert in his field and brings a lot of real world experience and stories into his lectures. I respect this man a lot.
Professor Sheldon is very passionate about Supply Chain and Operations Management, and he has tons of real world experience in the field. He uses most of his own materials for the slides and some of the textbook. All tests are based on the slides. So go to class! Also he will make time for you if you email him. Great professor.
He is an extremely fair, approachable guy. Do really well (90+) on the first test b/c it makes it so u can get an A even if you fail one of the others with his grading scale. Curves tests if averages aren't looking good, hw straight out of tb and free 5% participation grade, 90 or above is A and with all his easy points very easy to do well
He really is a great guy and wants you to do well. His tests are pretty tough, though. He threw some questions in the first test from statistics which was annoying, so maybe brush up on that. Just do the homeworks and study and it's not terrible. His class is really pretty fair because he curves, and his guest speakers are pretty interesting.
Excellent Professor who knows his stuff. Hands down the best MGMT 411 class
Most absurd professor I've ever had. He teaches almost exclusively from his personal methods and experiences and therefore almost anything he says can not be researched further so if he can't explain it to you(for the most part he can't) you're basically screwed. His slides are uninformative and contain little to no info. Avoid this man if possible
You don't really have to go to class, but his lectures are interesting. He grades as above 90 is an A, really tries to help students the best he can (he curves, & counts your highest test grade for 30%, other two for 15%). A great guy, and pretty good speakers too. Everything you need to know for the tests are on the slides he gives you for review.
Professor Sheldon is awesome. This is a teacher who truly knows his stuff. He's been in the supply chain business for so long and the material he teaches you really applies to the outside world. He is an extremely fair, generous grader(90+ is an A). Tests are very fair and all the material you need to know are on his review sheets. Highly recommend
Sheldon is extremely knowledgeable about operations. Lectures can get a little dry but if you have a general interest in SCM or OPM, you should like it. 3 Tests, he posts great study guides, Start studying a week in advance and the tests should be a breeze. The homework is online and you're guaranteed a 100 on all of them. Class is an easy A or A-
Sheldon is very smart and clearly enjoys teaching. Lectures can be fairly boring but he presents things in easy-to-understand ways. His grading criteria is pretty awesome, you basically only need one good test score for an A. He's one of those professors that cares more about engagement than about grades or numeric results, and it helps.
This is a hard class! Anyone that says it is is wrong. He homeworks are difficult but you get 2 trys at each! He posts good study guides and slides but the tests are so tricky they dont help that much. Hes a great professor with allot of knowledge just its a hard course!
Bad professor, bad person. I wish I could express my genuine hatred of this man but there aren't enough characters. There are some professors that you can tell are decent people despite being tough professors and he's quite the opposite. If I wasn't continuing my education at this school, I'd tell him this personally. Really praying he gets fired.
His lectures we're difficult to sit through, but Supply Chain isn't exactly the most intriguing stuff if that isn't your major. He's a very fair professor, goes out of his way to make his students do well. If you review the study slide deck, that he personally prepares for each test, there is no reason an A/A- shouldn't be within reach.
Great guy. Really cares about what he is teaching and his students. Lectures are dry unfortunately, and there is not much incentive to show up considering there is no attendance taken except for twice and the power points are online. Get one grade in the 90's and you're set for an A. Get first two in the 90's and you'll need like a 50 on the final.
GREAT GUY
This class is not easy. He gave three exams and they are hard especially the first one. If you are international students or students whose English is not your first language then you must work extremely hard for his class. Try to get one grade in the 90's then you will be fine. Read your textbook word by word !!
Professor is very amiable and kindly. His lecture is little boring and long. The homework answers can be found in the textbook, but his exams are based on slides. You don't need to read textbooks for the exams. He counts students' highest exam score as the highest portion to the final grade.
A good professor. He gives study guides, study the slides before the exam and you will be fine. It takes some time to read through all the materials.
I loved Professor Sheldon! He has the fairest grading system I have seen by far. Many say the content is dry, but I think he makes it interesting with his personal stories. He teaches you very well for the tests and is so willing to explain things. Sit in the first 3 rows and he'll like you! He is very kind and frequently praises students.
Professor Sheldon is an awesome teacher/great guy. I would suggest to sit in the first three rows for the best chance to succeed. One negative is that his lectures/powerpoints are a somewhat different from the textbook material. You need the textbook material for the quizzes and his lectures/powerpoints for the tests which makes things difficult.
One of the best professors I've ever had, although the subject itself is pretty dry. He has tons of experience in the real world and is really there to help students. Will always answer questions if you have them and office hours are very helpful. He won't ever take attendance, but if you don't go to class you're going to struggle.
He genuinely cares for his students, but his lectures are so boring. His exams consist of questions from class, and not the book, so pay attention.
I would definitely take one of his classes again. A lot of people think the material is boring. I didn't mind it. You really need to attend class and make sure you understand the concepts. His review sheets are very helpful, but make sure you study. There are a lot of test questions that are "all of the above", "a and b only", etc.
Prof. Sheldon is extremely knowledgeable and has a lot of real world experience. He adds a personal story to the dry content that he has to lecture on, so that helps. He gives out study guides before the exam, so make sure to review it and key terms. Tests have a lot of "all of the above" or "a and c only", so you need to understand the material
One of the best professors on SOM hands down. The material may be kinda dry but he keeps it interesting with the plethora of experience that he shares. Hes a caring and funny guy. Very inspirational!!! He personally prepares study guides and study slides and makes it so your best test score is weighted highest. Study from them and youll be gold!
Sheldon is a nice guy and very passionate about what he teaches. Lectures are extremely dry, so if you have an 8:30 good luck. Doesn't lecture at all from the textbook so memorize the slide deck for the exam and you'll be fine.
Best part about his teaching is that he has so much personal experience that his stories enrich his lectures. His test questions are sometimes annoying because of the choices ("a and c") and require you to apply the concepts you learned, but never really applied in class. Requirement for A is low (90A), so I guess it balances out
OPM 311 is not a hard class but it also isn't easy. The concepts of supply chain management isn't easy but neither hard. I personally think he is passionate about the subject but can do better in helping students understand the concepts. You honestly don't need to go to class but going to class helps if you can function.
Hands down the best professor in SOM. The class was really interesting even though I initially had no interest in operations management. His lectures are interesting and filled with real world experience. If you put in some work an A is attainable. It's just a fun class and you will learn a lot!
Professor Sheldon is definitely one of the best professors I have at school. The lectures are kind of boring, but study the PPT and study guide before the exams and you'll be fine.
Sheldon is a great professor. He talks about all the experiences that he had through his life when he is explaining the terms. He shares a study guide for the exams.90 and above is A .
Sheldon is the best professor in the SOM, and is full of knowledge! His tests are difficult but go to class, pay attention, do all extra credit opportunities, and study the PPT and slides for the exams and you will be good. He gives you so many chances to get an A! Sit in the front row and he will love you. Also attend office hours before exams.
I don't usually rate proffesors however Mr. Donald Sheldon is amazing. When it comes to SCM he is beyond an expert and it ability to convey information to his students is stupendous. Make sure to review the "study" slide deck hard. Make sure to go to APICS events and do the HW. What an awesome class, really sparked my interest in the subject!!
He takes attendance 3x during the semester so it isn't mandatory. He really knows what he's talking about and his tests are based heavily on what you learn in the lecture/PPT. Really nice guy and he's willing to weigh your two highest test scores more than the third test score. Homework is easy. Really passionate about OPM. Would recommend.
Prof Sheldon is a great professor who is clearly passionate about Supply Chain Management. His tests are mostly on the slide decks. The class is easy if you put the work in and study. He wants all of his students to succeed!
He's a great professor, clearly passionate about the subject. He tells a lot of stories that are related to topic which helps students understand better. For his tests, you can't just memorize terms you have to really understand the meaning and apply it. Overall pretty great professor, I respect him.
Sheldon's a real gem. I loved hearing his personal experiences. It was a shame that in-person classes were cut short due to COVID-19, but learning from Sheldon was worthwhile. The HW is not bad and you get 2 tries on it. His tests are fine if you study. He gives many "gifts", as he calls them, to try and boost your grade. Definitely recommend him.
Wish the class wasnt at 8:30 otherwise I would have shown up more. Good guy, not that much work given, tests were sometimes a little difficult but he curves accordingly
I was less than .225 away from an A and there was a question on the exam that was incorrect. However instead of giving the point back that was his fault and push me, and I'm sure many other students, into a better grade, he was very rude and passive aggressive about it in his email back to me. He also doesn't curve exams anymore.
Sheldon is great. He is passionate about the subject, and it shows through his lectures. Everything you basically need to know is in the slides, however, you need to show up and listen to him explain everything. Solid choice.
Great Professor. The tests are difficult but if the class does poorly he will curve it. 30 percent of your grade is pretty much 100.
Great Professor. You can tell he's passionate and truly loves to teach. He thinks very highly of his students. Lectures are engaging, he tells a LOT of stories which helps with some of the distant concepts he teaches. Lot of material that relates to the ins and outs of a business (a lot of manufacturing).
Prof. Sheldon knows definitely knows his material very well and it shows by the examples he gives during class about his prior experiences. He teaches the intro class like it's a grad class which has pros and cons (more detailed) but was very considerate when I couldn't take the final because of COVID while other professors were very unreasonable.
Professor Sheldon is a great guy and extremely knowledgeable. Lectures can get a bit dry if youre not interested in the topics, but he does tell stories to relate to the lecture which can be interesting. Tests are a bit difficult, but there is a curve and a 90 is an A. Attendance is not mandatory, but going to the lectures is definitely valuable.
OPM311 was very interesting but the exams were IMPOSSIBLE. Extremely difficult for no reason at all. I studied so much and knew everything in and out for all the exams only to do poorly. Beware of his true/false and multiple answer choice tricks. He gets SO boring in lecture.. those tests should be remade. No logistics on the final? Like really?
Professor Sheldon is a great person and he cares a lot about OPM and is extremely knowledgeable about the subject. However, lectures are very boring and hard to pay attention in. There is a ton of info on each exam but study the study slides he posts and you'll do fine. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going to lecture. No group work.
He is a decent professor, but he has trick questions on his tests. Also, there are questions on things that we will mention in class not mentioned anywhere in the class material. I think it's meant to be an attendance check, but that just shouldn't be a thing.
Sheldon is very knowledgable in his field and wants students to succeed. However, he throws a ton of information out during lectures with no clear organization or structure and a large part of the course is memorization. He seems to forget that his students aren't experts in operations. His charm doesn't make up for his class difficulty.
Sheldon is genuinely a very good instructor, he knows what he's talking about and is able to convey the information well. Even though the content is sort of challenging, the highest of your exams counts for double what your lower scores do and the 30% from the homework are essentially free points. Lectures can be incredibly boring though.
Love the guy. His lectures are very helpful and interesting, especially with all his fun little anecdotes. Loves to self promo, it's kinda funny. Definitely go to class cause he'll give hints for test questions. It's really hard to catch up if you miss because of the sheer amount of material covered. Could improve pacing.
Professor Sheldon is one of the best I have ever had at Binghamton. You can tell how passionate he is about the material, and he is very caring and fair to students. The lectures are not mandatory but he constantly connects the material to his past professional life. He tells amazing stories about his career and is fun to listen to.
The course was an 8:30 online so maybe that had something to do with it, but I found it pretty boring and didn't pay too much attention. Professor Sheldon didn't care for participation from his students and would tell more stories than teaching the material.
Best professor I have had. He clearly explains all core concepts and repeats it until you know it! His tests are very fair, as well as his homework. This course was well planned and designed, Sheldon really cares about his students. Binghamton needs more teachers like Sheldon
The lectures were helpful but very boring. The three exams make up most of your grade. The material is pretty dry but he does a good job of explaining.
Couldve done better but I bombed the first test. Tests are relatively hard you need to really study to do well. Not super hard but not an easy A. Fair professor lowest hw gets dropped but 2 tests and a final make up most of your grade.
Maybe the most useless class I have ever taken. 60% of your grade is based on 3 tests, which each contain 200+ slides of random boring material that you need to memorize. He refused to round up my grade less than a couple hundredths of a decimal point, which I just found totally petty and unreasonable. Just made J-Core that much more difficult.
Sheldon was amazing! You can tell how much he cared about the class, and as long as you put in a decent amount of time studying for the tests, you can do really well.
Probably one of the best professors SOM has ever had. Sheldon you will be missed!
