The guy to take for your english classes. Awesome teacher. Work load is not too bad. Explains everything very clearly and gives quizzes that are an easy 10% of grade. Goes overy all stories in class unlike other professors. Grades very easily (I got A's on essays I though should've got C's or D's).

Mr. Skinner is an all around great guy. He goes off on random tangents, but it all seems to make it back to his original point. I actually look forward to going to his class, and wish I could take all English classes from him. He's become one of my favorite teachers. I love his dry wit.

Skinner is a really wonderful teacher, and an interesting guy. He grades pretty easy on the essays, but he's very instructive and tells you exactly what you're doing wrong. He makes grammar rules very easy to understand, and his rants are amusing and don't last long enough to cut into learning.

Fantastic teacher. Really cares about his students, like he really wants us to succeed.Do not hesitate to ask for help.He makes you feel comfortable. I'm really gonna miss him. Heck I only took English because it was required, then went on to take his humanities class, that's how awesome he is. Got straight A's in both and I'm a math major.

Mr. Skinner is great, he is willing to help you with anything you have a question about. He explains how to write each essay step by step. I hate English and he actually made it enjoyable for me and I'm taking his Enc1102 class next semester.

Mr. Skinner makes learning fun. He could not do anymore to help you get a good grade in his class. He walked us through every step of the writing process. Take good notes and you will easily get A's on the test.

Everyone says how Skinner is soo easy. He is an awesome teacher and I love him. Easy though? An easy B=yes he is, but I have worked very hard for my A. He has 6 essays worth 75% of your grade, so if you want an A do a great job on those and ur set!

I had skinner for 1101 and 1102. He is an awesome instructor. I would have to say he is an easy B, but if you want an A, you have to work at it. He grades tougher on his essays if you want an A. I got an A in 1101 and 1102. For 1102 make sure you go to class cause his tests are word for word off his lecutures on the short stories and poetry. :o)

Great professor! Grades fairly and gives feedback. It's a good thing to go to class since most of his notes are verbal and they are extreme help on the tests. Really enjoyed this class. Register early!

Mr.Skinner is a great teacher. He is very fair when grading essays and is extremely helpful. I actually enjoyed taking this class because he doesn't pile on useless work. I highly recommend him for 1102!

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I TOOK HIM FOR ENC 1101 AND ENC 1102. GRADING NOT DIFFICULT AT ALL. HE IS VERY FAIR AND IF YOU NEED HELP HE'S ALWAYS THERE FOR U. WELL GRANTED I NEVER NEEDED HIS HELP. BUT HE'S FUNNY AND ALWAYS TRY TO MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND SOMETHING. IF HE GIVES U AN ASSIGNMENT HE ALWAYS GO OVER IT WITH YOU. THANX SKINNER! :D

Mr. Skinner is a really nice guy and a good teacher but ENC1102 was terribly boring. And his voice is like a lullaby putting you to sleep :), which is good for nap time but not so good when you actually need to know what was going on for tests. We had to read one of Hemmingway's books..it was BORING.

I love Mr. Skinner! When I actually went to class he was interesting and didn't bore me. He assigns a lot of things out of the book but will review in class. I took him for ENC 1101 and 1102 and got a B both times but was pretty slack about my attendance and studying.

Mr Skinner is awesome!! I took him for 1101 and 1102 and i got As in both. He talks a lot and has tons of corny jokes, but class is interesting and i enjoyed going. He is extremely helpful all you have to do is ask. He does not grade hard at all but you also have to put in some effort. Would definitely recommend!!!!!!

Mr. Skinner is an excellent teacher! He makes his students work hard for the grade, but you really learn so much and get a lot out of it. I came out of there working my butt off, with a proud A. If you are or are not going into Journalism/an English major, either way, Mr. Skinner is the BEST!

I had Mr.Skinner for both 1101 and 1102. He is an amazing teacher that really cares about teaching and his students. He will take time and explain everything for you. He is so down to earth and is one of the smartest teachers on campus. For his lectures he always has a story of some sort that relates to what you are doing in class.

Mr. Skinner is the teacher you want if you are willing to put forth an effort, and appreciate a teacher who cares. His passion for his field is infectious! I LOVED his class!

Mr. Skinner was my first summer class, and I got an A. He gives very good notes and helps you understand the material. Although he talks from the beginning of class until maybe a few minutes after you're supposed to leave, he has a good sense of humor that makes it alright. Highly recommended.

Oh man, he is an excellent professor. I really had no interest in this subject, I just needed a humanities and man did I learn so much more than I thought I would have. His class is ridiculously simple and he tries to make it even easier for you! Very understanding and kinda hot >.> -don't judge me- But in all TAKE THIS CLASS!

Mr. Skinner was one of my favorite teachers during my two years at IRSC by far. i did not use any of my textbooks and he doesnt give quizes or homework. he only requires 4 or 5 essays .he is very clear with his expectations and i would STRONGLY suggest taking him.

Mr. Skinner is a cool teacher. ALL your grades are based on essays. No homewrk, quizzes or bookwrk. We used our textbook probably twice throughout the whole semester. Easy teacher, just do the work.

Great teacher. If you take good notes, you will do well on his tests. He loves to tell stories about his adventures!

He's all over the place, so it's hard to take notes. Be sure to attend class, he marks you down a grade if you don't. Read all the stories and make sure you know the themes/characters and other relevant info about what he gives you to read. He's pretty generous with grading.

Took this class online during summer so it moved quickly. Heavy poetry readings but there was enough time to read everything. Exam notes and reviews very helpful. Weekly discussion assignments and a research paper by end of semester. I would recommend this professor.

Mr. Skinner is an awesome teacher. I do not really enjoy English, but he is great. He really is generous with helping you out on your essays. There are two in class essays. You will need a textbook. I would recommend him.

My favorite professor! He is funny in that teacher kind of way and you can tell he loves what he is doing. There are 6 writing assiangments and 1 final. If you do all the writing and get good marks than you have nothing to worry about. Highly recommended. Taking his ENC1102 next semester!

He is an extremely generous man. He is very understanding when it comes to issues with an essay. His class should be a breeze, but ATTEND EVERY CLASS. It may not be fun or exciting, but attendance is mandatory in order to earn good grades on his 2 exams. He prepares us with everything we need to know for the exams and essays. Pretty easy! Got an A

SUPER NICE!!! GREAT TEACHER!! 2 essays and 1 research paper. 3 tests, attend classes, read the assignments, take notes, there is no excuse for an A on the tests.

Mr.Skinner is the type of teacher that grows on you. At first I blew the class over. But as the semester went by I realized that I enjoyed the class, and that it actually improved my writing. Mr. Skinner is fun and interactive. He has a story for anything and everything. Loves joking. I wish i could find a slot for his class next semester.

He is a great teacher. Very helpful and loves to joke. He does not belittle his students. This is the second semester I have taken him and he is very clear and helpful when needed. He will do whatever he can do to help as long as it is fair. I will take him again if I need another Lit class.

I saw so upset when I was too late to take his class again for next semester! I so recommend him! Mr. Skinner is very kind and helpful, all he wants is the best for his students. For my class, he made the last essay optional because he knew he had other classes to think about. Such a great guy! Recommend, he's the best!

Professor Skinner is the best teacher; he is caring, responsive and helpful. He answers emails quickly and is quick to offer support. He is also accommodating and wants all his students to succeed. He gives study guides for his tests and allows you to use your book when writing the essay. I would nor hesitate to take him again! :)

Prof Skinner is so kind and very fair. He is funny and he really knows his stuff. The book is helpful, but I didnt use it alot, just looked up the stories online. He lectures the whole class, which can get boring but he is truly helpful in every way, and I highly recommend him.

Skinner is an amazing teacher ! Super helpful ! I hate writing essays but he actually takes time to explain to you how to format all papers. He even gives you a day to just come in and write your essay in class and he goes over point by point what your doing right and what your doing wrong ! Mr. Skinner was a very decent english professor. Sometimes he gets a little off topic, but he is on topic, he is on fire! I'm an English major so i'm not one of those students that hate doing essays so taking him was really fun. He was very knowledgeable in all his lectures about each storypoem. Doesn't take any attendance but do your best.

Professor S is an easy teacher and straight forward with what he wants from you. However his lectures tend to be VERY boring which is the reason why half of the students was never in class. Easy essays and easy test, overall a great guy

He was an extremely nice guy, I have never had to write essays before and I managed to get B's. I must say he can talk, he gets on these rants on subjects that have nothing to do with what he is trying to teach, and they were extremely boring. If you can manage to get through that, then you should definitely do great.

Hands down, favorite. I hope to take another class with him sometime before i leave IRSC. He grades fairly and will help you in areas that you lack, you just need to ask. He does talk a lot, but i do not mind it. His jokes are pretty funny to me. I like that he can go off topic and still cover the lesson.

Skinner is awesome. Best English teacher at this school. Understanding, laid back guy. go to class and do the papers, you pass. Will help you if needed. Not so uptight and harsh like other English professors. Very fair with grading. Highly recommend!!

He gives a range of essays from as little as 500 to as much as 1000 word essays. When he returns the essays there are always helpful comments. If you are an English major or writer this class will be a breeze. If you are not good at writing essays then get good the only other grades are easy in class work, very few online assignments and the final.

Long lectures that can be either quite entertaining or somewhat boring. He sometimes will go on semi-tangents about what is being discussed. Accepts late work, doesn't even count off, keeps students in check and makes sure you get the best grade you could earn. His tests are exactly on the material you read, and he gives great feedback.

Prof Skinner is amazing online or in class, he has clear guidelines and due dates and is understanding. He is hilarious in class and cares for his students. Have taken two classes with him and he is always so understanding and wonderful! Definitely a great professor!

Nice, laid back guy. Had to write a couple essays but it is an english course. Tests were easy, half the test is vocabulary and the other half is multiple choice. We watched a documentary about Hemingway, watched Hamlet and listened to music that related to poetry. He loves to tell stories and show memes.. Very very sweet guy.

I took ENC1101 in early 2015 and Prof Skinner has been my favorite prof I have had so far. He talks A LOT but he makes class interesting and easier to digest by telling jokes and stories about the material. I would absolutely take him again!

Skinner was not only a pretty funny professor, but an all out awesome person. Very passionate about literature and gives good feedback on your essays. His class is easy, but make sure to study the material or else you won't pass!

Mr. Skinner is the best! He loves to go on little rants about whatever he wants and his stories are really interesting. Just 2 exams and 2 essays (that you expand for a total of 4 essays). Easy grader, helps you with MLA format if you need it. Super helpful if you cannot make a class. Easy tests, fun essays. Easy A!!

Mr. Skinner is a very good professor!!!! His lectures are boring but he's very funny and makes the class laugh a lot. I recommend to go to every class because he gives you a grade for just showing up! He only gave two homework assignments on blackboard. He was an easy essay grader and very understandable. I would take him again hands down!!

I have had this professor for three semester and I can't get enough! He knows his stuff. Lectures are very interesting and he does express hes points. Always has a lending hand and is ready to help anyone in need. Two test, two essay and online class had a discussion board every week expect for test week. I enjoy hes class not a boring one at all!

Professor Skinner really is a nice man that is compassionate about his job; but his class is very boring. It is difficult not to doze off. Attendance is not completely required. You get a 70 for the day if you dont show. 100 if you do. I recommend him; but wouldnt take him myself.

This man is probably the best English teacher on the planet. He is really relaxed, funny, and understanding. I went out of my way just to take him again next semester. You have a few papers to type, and you usually have a reading assignment. They are always small passages. He is a great man. I'd recommend him to everyone.

Great professor! Gives constructive feedback on papers. Daily assignments are graded 100% if you put in effort. A majority of test questions come from lectures and online notes. Overall, he is a professor that cares about how his students do. He will help you succeed in his class. I definitely recommend taking any of Professor Skinner's classes.

Very nice man and good English professor. You can tell that he really cares about his students. Theres a couple of essays to write which is to be expected in an English class but nothing too crazy and the last one is expanded. Two test which arent too bad if you really study and dont just brush it off. Overall good experience. Take him!!

Best English professor. Easy test, not a super harsh essay grader and you will learn a lot about how to properly format papers & cite sources and a lot of different poetry and literature works. He is very understanding and kind.

I just finished taking his ENC1102 course, seriously one of the best professors I've taken! We only had about 3 essays. If you turn in your paper early, he gives you great feedback and he doesn't just tell you what's wrong, he also tells you how to fix it. Kept us in class most of the time but still very caring and a great professor!

Although I had him online, you could tell from his tone in his messages that he was a nice guy. His discussion boards are easy As and the tests have a short essay and 50 multiple choice questions that youll know the majority of if you go over the study guides and PowerPoints. He doesnt take points off for lateness, but dont procrastinate.

I loved this class. The professor was very lenient on late work. Gave good feedback on essays and even gave you a chance to fix it.

He's a really great professor. 3 tests on campus and final at home. Mostly discussion board assignments. If you love poetry he's a good one to choose. He responds quickly and always makes sure you know what to do. No extra credit. However, you don't need it. Tests he gives questions and answers prior for you to study.

He always helped you out with your essay and gave feedback on what can be improved. He is a nice guy and tries to make the class alive (even though half the people in there were kinda in their own world) he still teaches those who did listen and wanted to learn. I felt like I got more out of this than anything.

This is the second class that I have taken with Professor Skinner. He is an awesome guy and cares about his students. He tends to run off topic at times, but his stories are quite interesting. I would take him again if I was able to. However, my credits have been fulfilled.

Wow what a great professor! He is old school, but so VERY likable. He is by far the best professor EVER. Do your work, show up to class you'll pass the class with an easy A. I ended up with a B because I was having some family issues. He is indeed Mr. Wonderful.

Great Professor overall. This was not your normal ENC1102 class, but it was relatively interesting. It was primarily focused on historical literature and the concepts of cultural, historical, and societal lens that brought these specific pieces of literature to the forefront literature. Great teacher, would love to take him again.

I have had a couple of online classes and never felt what I did for a teacher that I never met. Dr. Skinner is a true professional and gives excellent feedback. I feel like I know him for years. His positivity and encouragement has inspired me. He is kind and considerate and will always respond to you to offer the help you need.
