This guy is concise, knowledgeable and very clear about the details of the course. I found him interesting, but if you're not really into the class you might find him boring...a straight up guy

had him for economic geography - it's a tough subject to sell but i think dr. buckwalter did well. he's a good fella which makes him easy to follow - like any other class - just show up.

Tough but fair. You need to work to get an A in his class. If you need help he will do whatever it takes to help you. Very kind and I found him funny. Very nice to see outside of class also. Does usually offer bonus points.

Bueller, Bueller..seriously on the dry side, but in an amusing stereotypical professor way. He loves economic geography and it shows. The tests are not hard, if you come to class and do a read through or two. The location quiz is nasty, that is very difficult, do not underestimate this test!!! It will make or break your grade. Overall, good guy.

Good Teacher

He's not the most riveting Professor on campus but does know his stuff. He lectures, outlines are on the overhead. Take lots of notes. He gives bonus quizzes which can add up. Quizzes are random so come to class everyday. Text not that helpful, a hard read because so much information. If you put a modest effort into this class a good grade is

Do not take this class if you want a "blow off" class. He is very challenging, especially the location quizzes. He's pretty dry/boring but amusing in a nerdy sort of way, and you can tell he loves Geography. Didn't use the book at all, but came to every class-ish and took lots of notes. Overall, not bad, but not easy.

Very easy, one of my favorite professors at IUP. Is boring at times but a very good professor in my book.

kind of boring in lecture but loves geography. tests can be hard but if you actually study you can do well. Course is passable, i got an A with effort. He's willing to help outside of class if you have questions or need help. i would recomend taking him.

He can be kind of boring at times but if you come to class regularly and pay attention an A is easily attainable. He's willing to help students and offers a lot of extra credit to bring your grade up. Tests are difficult but he curves. Like any other class, you have to study and put in some time to get a good grade.

I didn't think he was that bad. he was monotone and boring sometimes, but he was really nice overall. He loves Geog. like nothing else. Overall, if you go to class, take notes, pay attention, and study some, you'll get an A. And the Map quiz's aren't that bad.

The comments on here are way off. Yes, he's a little dry. He's a great teacher, really knows his stuff. Bonus is in Pop Quiz form, so you do have to know your stuff. He will do whatever it takes to help you out. Take notes! Very nice, easy B; A if you put a little effort into it.

Had Dr. B for intro and advanced classes. OK for the intro - but as you get to 400 level, he is great. Learned a lot from him.

well you geog 104 wimps you only complain because its a liberal studies and you think that it is supposed to be easy, well guess what your in college now get over it. The man is extremely intelligent and knows his stuff, take him in higher levels you learn a lot. I know hes boring but you have to work for the grade like anything else.

class is somewhat hard if you're not willing to put forth and effort! He gives tons of bonus quizzes you can use your notes for. I never read a page in the book, just took good notes. You have to study hard but he's a great teacher, helpful, and wonderful person! If you care about your grade and want to learn, take him!

He is 1 of the greatest teachers I have ever had. The man is extremely intelligent and knows the material inside and out. He is very helpful at explaining things. Also, he demonstrates great enthusiasm for the subject and field, despite being monotone at times. Dr. Buckwalter opened my eyes to new things, I won't forget him.

He got me very interested in geography and now im a geography major. One of the best professors Ive ever had.

Dr B is extremely intelligent and nice, but very monotone. He has a very dry sense of humor. His tests are hard, but he gives you plenty of chances for bonus. The paper isn't horrible, and he's more then willing to help if you as for it.

The tests are really hard but he gives a bunch of extra credit and 110 out of 300 points are from 3 really easy quizes that are pure grade boosters. He's a really dry funny dude too.

I had him for Map & Photo Interpretation and it was the most useful class I have taken in college. I also had him for Economic Geography. His tests are easy if you understand the material, he is always eager to spend extra time helping students. His lectures aren't particularly exciting, but easy to understand. Take him for Map&Photo for sure!

Very Easy Teacher, got A in class, wasn't even trying. Hands out bonus points like crazy, all you got to do is put points of interest on a map for easy grade. Lectures are a little boring, and sense of humor is dry. Still, good professor, seems to care about his students and helps when possible.

Buckwalter is a cool guy. He has dry sense of humor and can be funny at times. His class might seem to drag along but it really isn't that bad at all. His tests aren't too bad if you have read the book and the notes given in class. He does many bonus point quiz's which make for plenty extra points for a good grade. I liked Buckwalter he was nice.

Great professor with a stellar sense of humor. I rarely had a day where I didn't laugh. I definitely recommend this class if you're not an idiot. I mean that seriously-- be prepared to work, but his class fosters this crazy love of geography that you wouldn't find elsewhere.

Has a clear passion for the material being taught. For many, this course contains dry material but Dr. Buckwalter projects the information with amazing clarity. He's a great person who strives to see success in students.

He was very nice and was always willing to give feedback on assignments. Go to his office hours, he gives great advice on how you can improve! He knows geography and he gives great lectures if you care to listen!

Dry, but funny, if you dont understand a topic he will help you until you do. Exams can be tricky but offers lots of assignments that will really boost your grade. Missing class is not an option as assigbment due dates will change and he will deduct points for late work. He is very knowledgable and passionate about his work and students.

Yes, his class is a bit boring, but if you show up and make the attempt to pay attention you will learn something. Location quizzes are easy if you actually take a few minutes to look at the map and find the locations. His exams are pretty straight forward usually without essays and writings. If you show up to class , you can do very well.

This class may be a bit boring, but he is the nicest professor. He will ramble on quite a bit, but if you ask for help he will help in any way that he can even if it does not deal with his class. He is very passionate about the topics that he teaches and very informative. I am glad that he is a member of my department.

He is super nice, and very genuine.BUT. His tests are hard, location quizzes are easy, and he does throw in extra credit quizzes. I thought his class was going to be my easiest classes, but its my hardest class this semester. He goes off topic a lot leaving you not prepared for the test In your best interest I would try another teacher

He is a nice guy tries to crack a joke here and there. If you are not interested in Geography do not take him. As i science major geo104 was not required for me but ended up being one of my hardest classes. He will give help if you ask out of class. Only grades 2 quizzes and 3 tests.

Great Prof. He Is very understanding down to earth guy. Dr. B will go above and beyond to help. The class was very informative, and I learned allot. I would take another course by him.

Class is very boring and hard to pay attention. Lectures entire class period. But he is very considerate and only 3 tests/2 quizzes and throws in bonus points. I would not recommend but not horrible if you end up with him.

Great guy and professor although the course was very difficult for me given I have no prior experience and took it as a liberal studies elective. For a survey course it's very reasonable. As long as you attend classes and pay attention there's not much you won't know come test time. He puts power points up on the P drive on time, and his testing set up is solid and predictable. Tons of bonus quizzes! Sometimes he gets off track, but you can tell he loves the material

Go to class, you will pass.
