Mrs. Beatty was the most helpful math instructor I have ever had and was also the most flexible instuctor I have experienced. The homework is easy and the extra points really help. Not an easy A, but if you like to challenge yourself I would recommend her. Two thumbs up!!

Basic one section of the book per day. Homework assignment that takes about 2 hours everyday. Homework due before every test only which is nice. 6 Tests. Overall if you keep up with the assignements you should do good. Tests of moderate difficulty. No real participation required. (She won't call on you to do things on the board or anything) Takes roll everyday. I heard she likes Dr. Pepper so you might try and bribe her if you're doing bad.

This was a great class, Ms Beatty has a very clear way of explaining things, she did assign a lot of homework, but there was really a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time so it seemed necessary. Also, she is very helpful during office hours, and is eager to explain in much greater detail and walk through difficult concepts with you.

Easiest Calc teacher ever. Her tests are based on HW & lecture. She's always trying to answer your questions that she forgets the time. Very helpful and nice.

Tough teacher, hands out tons of homework everynight. But she is one of the best math teacher at VC. SHe's very thorough in explaining and answering questions. Try hard, calc aint easy.

If you have trouble with math, this is the teacher to take! She does not rush and is open to questions. Attendance is mandatory to pass as with any math class.Great teacher.

If you're nervous/shakey about math, I highly recommend her. Extremely patient and helpful; fair grader and doesn't trick on exams. Gives a lot of partial credit on exams, so if you at least try you will do okay. I will definitely take her again.

She was a great teacher. Made algebra really easy to understand. There is a lot of HW and Quizzes, but overall they help you out alot for the main exams.

She gives loads of homework every night, so you have to really keep up. Homework is handed in on test days. She answers all questions and gives partial credit if you show your work. A very nice lady and good teacher.

Teacher hands out lots of HW, but is willing to review problems IF YOU ASK!!! She is more than willing to cover material that students don't understand, and her Tests, have problems very similar to HW problems, plus she gives extra credit also. I recommend to those who want TO LEARN math, and not only get a good grade w/out learning anything.

She is hard and gives lots of homework. I had her for calculus and she made it a point to go over thoroughly every ? each student asked. Sometime, it would take a while but student who are afraid of asking ?s thanked me for asking then cause they were able to understand. Her class prepared me for upper math!! Gr8 Teacher!! i slept in her class and got an a. she gives out a lot of homework and does not prepare you for her test very well. repeats the same thing at least 4 times. makes me feel like i'm in kindergarten. fairly easy teacher

This is a good teacher. Just like most- go to class, do your homework and you'll be fine. She was helpful, understanding of circumstances, had no attendance, covered everything, medium amount of homework, only gave tests, good teacher. Kids here that bag on her are prolly just bad students with bad attitudes. Enjoy!

Very clear teacher, she explains everything thoroughly and cares if the class is interested. She is always grateful for the class to point out her mistakes and feels that it is necessary for our success. It is NECESSARY to do the homework and attend class, and those who do not will most likely not pass. Her exams and amount of homework are fair.

She really is a great teacher. :) Her mistakes when teaching how to do a problem were somewhat common, but this is her job and doing math for 8 hours straight would lead to mistakes here and there. Extremely Fair grader, happy&positive person , and will go out of her way to meet your needs. I would definitely recommend her.

Ms Beatty is wonderful. On a personal level, she's very sweet and understanding. I thought her lectures were clear, and she was offered help to those who needed it. I'm very glad to have taken her class.

I took this class during the summer and surprisingly it went great for me! She provided many examples in each section and reviewed homework. She is a great teacher and to be successful you just need to show up, stay on top of your homework and attend a few tutoring sessions here and there. The work you put in results in a good grade.

Another great VCC math professor! Trigonometry takes a while to grasp, but is really presented in-depth in class.

I took her for Calc 21A, she was a very nice and sweet lady and she did a good job explaining the material, unlike the book. She gives a lot of homework but it's similar to the tests so thats good. She does give out extra credit, which can really boost your grade. She is also a fair grader. Don't be afraid to ask a question, she will help you out.

I have always struggled with math and had not done algebra in at least 5 years and I got a B in this class (usually get C's in math). Explained things in ways with helpful hints that I had never heard before. Don't be afraid to ask questions she is always willing to explain. Good amount of HW but doing it will really help you.

She is very nice and always helpful. She gives a lot of homework, though. I spent about 2 hours on each assignment (a new assignment was given every class). It's incredibly important that you are disciplined and do your homework within a day or two of receiving it, because it piles up quick. If you struggle with math, do not take this class.

I have taken Intermediate Algebra SO many times. I always ended up either dropping it, or failing it. I took this class with Prof. Beatty and i got an A. My first A in any math class ever! She is a fantastic math teacher. She grades very kindly on the tests and just wants everyone to succeed. Now I feel like I can do any math that I tackle.

I took her for two math classes (one in the summer and one in the fall) and while she is incredibly sweet and forgiving, the way she lectured was a little frazzled and all over the place. She's not the best at teaching, but if you talk to her one on one she's always willing to take the time and help you where you struggled.

TAKE HER CLASS! Teaching method is amazing. Do the homework, and study, you will pass. She gets the students engaged and thinking. She is lovely and a Math Wizard! If you have a hard time in Math or Calc, this is your teacher. I cannot express this enough. Goes out of her way to help students, rare quality. My life is better because she teaches.

Awesome teacher, though I took a hybrid course and didn't have her for a traditional class. Still highly recommended and would totally take again!

She is an amazing teacher. Even though it was a online class, she was really awesome. She made math so much fun, by far the best math teacher I have ever had. I highly recommend her. Even if it's a online class, online classes are so much easy because you get done faster. Good luck in her class.

Such a great math teacher. I absolutely loved her. She really cares about her students understanding of the subject and is careful to explain the material thoroughly. I definitely recommend taking her class! However, I do have to mention there is TONS OF HOMEWORK. You really have to be on top of it, but if you do it, it does help prepare you.

Donna Beatty is exceptional. There is a clear path to the summit of success, if you choose to commit to the task of the climb. A favorite moment/utterance; "It doesn't have to be rational is just has to be real." There is something of the poet & artist about her, and she shines a genuine "light." Capable; possesses potent mathematical insight.

Professor Beatty is a really great teacher. She's very lenient when it comes to grading on the tests and gives you credit for even attempting a problem. I've always been terrible at math and her teaching actually made me enjoy the subject for once in my life. I'm greatfull for this teacher.

Professor Beatty is a light in the dark. HA! Whilst climbing "Calculus' Ladder," one would be well stewarded under the Professorship of Donna Beatty. This from one who, after having benefited from her instruction, went on to pass advanced mathematics (Analysis) courses at UC institutions. If at all available, I'd highly recommend this Professor.

Prof. Beatty is my top 1 professor at VC. She treats everyone equally and gives a bunch of extra credit opportunities which bumps my grade from B to A. The lowest test score will replace by the average score. Shes being late <5mins is because she has another class before our class. I took 3 class with her and shes totally fine!! Trust me!

Professor Beatty is one of the best teachers that I have had. She is extremely sweet and understanding. I had her during the Covid pandemic, and she has been accommodating of the situation. I respect her as both a teacher and a person. The quizzes and tests reflect the difficulty of the homework problems, there are no curve balls on the tests.

Professor Beatty is a super sweet professor. I did not have her for other courses, but her linear algebra class was very straightforward. The tests reflected the homework problems and were very fair. Essentially if you do the homework, you will pass. I've heard her other classes are more difficult so this pertains only to her linear algebra class.

Professor Beatty is great at explaining the material and she was very easy to reach outside of class. My only gripe is that she did not handle the transition to remote learning well, as she just read the textbook to us on Zoom. I would definitely recommend her for in-person classes.

Professor Beatty was one of the best math professors I have had. She was very caring, kind, and understanding. The topics she went over were easy to understand and were provided with examples. She was willing to help when you did not understand a topic and easy to get a hold of. Will definitely recommend taking her class.

Professor Beatty is one of the best math teachers that I've ever had. Very kind, understanding, but you need to pay attention during lectures if you want to pass. There isn't a lot of homework, but sometimes the information that she teaches doesn't always translate directly to the homework. All in all a great teacher, would take again.

Honestly the class and homework wasnt too bad but I hated not knowing my grade all semester. Also stay caught up its easy to fall behind. The exams are usually referred to as midterms, one thing I liked was she was open to help she offered office hours multiple times a week which were helpful.

She was a great professor, good personality! If you don't like knowing your grade all of the time though, then that will bug you. She gives you lots of time to do homework, and it isn't too bad as long as you keep up. Test heavy for sure, so STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!

She is a caring teacher who really did an amazing job at teaching. Other students had a tough time because they didn't take notes but I took plenty and she's amazing at explaining in thorough detail about the subject. The homework was lenient and she helped so much for preparing for calculus.

I am posting here for the first time for two reasons. The first is that Donna Beaty deserves an immaculate score and I want to personally contribute to it. The second is that she has retired, and I want to let anyone researching their teachers to know that they would be lucky to have someone like her.
