Donna is the only math professor I would even consider taking after MAC1105. I had her 0024, 1033. She is tough, but youl'll be ready for any math class. You can't ask for anyone better, she knows how to challenge you. Are you ready for challenge?

Donna is a great professors!! Math is the worst thing in the world for me and for once I actually understand... I love this teacher she is like god to me b/c she is truly very helpful and make learning math a breeze!!!!

She is very helpful and patient. She will explain the problem until you understand it. She goes over the homework; its very helpful: if you do it all, you get 10extra points on the test and it helps you do better on the test. She is a very good professor. Donna Gerken has to be one of the best teacher of the freakin planet. This women would stop the entire class while teacher to HELP a student who did not understand. When I first entered MDC I had no concept of Math, but that all change when I meet Donna Gerken. I enjoy Math now!!!! =-) and recommend everyone to take Ms.Gerken's classes.

This teacher has a great sense of humor, she is a trip.Every class consists of one worksheet with ten problems which she does for us on the board. She only gives us one or two examples of each problem. After the worksheet the class is over (30 min. early everyday), we need more class time. Her tests are hard.

ok this teacher teaches way to quick for the students to learn the material...gives toooo much hw (although its not mandatory)and her tests although they are given partial points they are extremely hard....Im glad i failed this semester because i'll take the course over with a clearer professor

Professor Gerken has been the most helpful math teacher I have ever had. I suck at math and she was able to get it through my thick skull in such a manner that I was able to not only pass but to pass with exceptional grades. Donna rocks :)

I LOVE Prof. Gerken. I'm waiting to take MAC1105 just so that it could be with her. She could be a comedian, very funny. It helps alot at 9 PM when learning math. I recommend!!!

Her class is a gimmi. She gives you ways to make extra points and and create her own work sheets that is user friendly. If you are not lazy and willing to learn her class is the one to be in. Failed math in high school passed with a in her class???? DONT TAKE A GENIUS TO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT.

This was a 6 week class so LOTS of homework but she gives extra credit points for doing the homework. Be sure to do the test review handout as many test problems are from this. Must have email to get homework and class assignments.

Gerken is an awsome teacher. This lady makes math understandable. I had her for MAT0024 and MAT1033. I aced both classes. make sure you have an active e-mail address because she e-mails the notes. DO THE HOMEWORK that is the key to passing this class. I strongly recommend Donna Gerken.

Great professor!! I had her for mat1033 got an A and now mac 1105 and got an A. She gives 10 points for homework it helps a lot. She explains well and will explain over and over until the class gets it. She also gives a review before the test. She is the best math professor!!!!

She's awsome. Taht system of always using the projector and emaling the clases once she saves the files she puts on the projector is spectacular. You won't miss anything. Besides that no matter what questions or how many you have for her she's always willing to help. Very intelligent. Get her.

Donna Gerken is a wonderful teacher !! her tests consist of only 20 questions or less. she gives us study guides and lets us know exactly what is going to be on the test. She doesn't only grade on if you got the answer right, she also grades how you worked out the problem which helps students out a lot. I really like her and shes super funny !! <3

She's quick and easy. The only flaw is that her classes are too late in the day. It would be better if she taught some morning classes. Maybe she does but I've never seen any classes for her open during the morning.

She is the BEST math teacher at this school. I've never in my life recieved an A in math. The test aren't difficult if u do the homework (by the way you get extra points added to ur test if you complete the homework)and u get a grade for attendance. TAKE HER, YOU WONT REGRTET IT!!!!!

My good she is awesome! She is not only hysterical, she's a great teacher! She doesnt beat around the bush and just explains to you as clear and simple as she can. Honestly, she's a very good professor. to those who ARE NOT GOOD IN MATH-DONT TAKE HER! other than that, her class is a piece a cake and easy A. she gives A LOT of h.w, but its very helpful. she will help you in anything you need, and makes everything clear. She is an awesome teacher. The tests are exactly what she reviews in class. She gives you test reviews with the answers which consist about 100 problems and the test is 20 questions from the review. She doesnt take attendance, doesnt care if your texting all class, you can come late, and leave early. She emails you all the assignments.

She breaks it down so it's easy to understand ( which was huge for me) and was helpful when I approached her for help. She is funny and keeps the class interesting. E-mail of assignments was a plus. There is a fair amount of homework but if you do it it will be of benefit to you. Class was easy to pass and I am not good at math.

Absolutely love her!!! I took her class last Spring and will be taking her again now in the Fall. She makes class so much fun. There is lots of homework, but she does that for a reason... to help you learn. Besides, you get extra points towards your test, so what's everyone complaining about. I love her and wish she would teach higher level math!

She is very thorough. She sends the notes & worksheets for class & homework to your email. You don't have to do lab hours if you maintain a good grade. She usually counts the homework (which there is A LOT of) for 10 or 15 extra points on the test.

AWESOME professor. Shes funny and organized. Sends all lectures/HW through e-mail. So No need to take notes in class & can easily go back & relearn if u forget something. First off, Tri/PreCal combined is NOT easy & it's unlike other math classes. Avoid unless you're REALLY good at math/unemployed & have time to dedicate to the class. I barely passed. Attendance is on you; class doubled on test days! She emails the notes home & makes the material look easy even when it's not. Great teacher & highly recommended.

I am by far the WORST math student EVER. The first day of class I basically told her that this was my last chance at passing MAT 1033. She told me that taking it in 6 weeks wasn't the smartest thing but since I had no option, I took it & I can honestly say that for the first time EVER, I completed a math course understanding EVERYTHING, with an A

I hate math with a passion!!! I had several math teachers and never could pass until Gerken came along. I like her blunt attitude and she emails you her notes, its just a lot of homework, literally it sometimes would take me the whole weekend but she adds the extra credit to your test. She is great I passed with a B+ and no final!

Let me tell you that she is the best! She really really helps you. This is my third time taking 1033 and its the first time I have an "A" in the class. She doesn make fun of people and jokes but you just need to understand her sarcasism. She does give a lot of hw but its extra credit you don't have to do it. She sends all the notes & hw by email.

Classes are short and sweet but knows what shes talking about. Im definatly taking her again next semester.

This is by far the best college algebra teacher!! She is crystal clear and uses examples outside of the book to give you extra practice. She takes her time and makes sure everyone is on the same page. I failed this class several times before and I passed it with a B. Highly recommended!!!

Fantastic teacher, has a knack for making math understandable to the layman. Damned funny and down to earth, you might get joked with if you're a jackass, but it's all in good fun.

She is super easy, however attendance and homework play a very important role when grading since all tests come from homeworks, she also will give points for homework and email the lectures

Best Math teacher I have ever had! This class actually made math easy for me. I took it for summer A so there was a lot of cramming, with 1 test a week. The hw was extra credit added on to the test. she is great at explaining things in a way anybody can understand. Amazing teacher, I highly recommend her.

Awesome Professor. I?m math retarded, and she makes math as she says stupid easy, she is sarcastic but in a funny way, she teaches math as though it is a conversation rather than a lecture. There are no make up test but you can replace missed or failed test with the optional final. Extra credit H.W and shows hot to use the calculator extensively

Excellent teacher. I recommender to everyone that has trouble understanding math. She makes math looks like a kids game, so simple. Very fair on her test and homework is due on the day of each test and is worth extra points over the grade you get. This teacher is wonderful for students who have struggled through math. If you're the type of student who hates writing notes while trying to understand the lesson at the same time, then you've struck gold. MAC1105 (my 2nd attempt) and what huge difference from my previous teacher, she is by far the best! No need to take notes, she send everything by e-mail right after class. She makes algebra understandable. No course compass, 10 points per test for homework, gives test reviews, uses a calculator. Warningt there is a lot of homework.

This class is very easy. She is super funny and helpful in every way possible. All you have is 8 tests to pass, homework is optional but she gives you ten points extra on each exam if you do it. And is you get 80s 90s and 100s on the exams you wont have to to the final. TAKE HER!!

Let me start by saying I HATE MATH, but Prof Gerken is amazing! Super nice & funny. 5 Exams & HW (short & optional)counts as EC 10pts added to exam. But, doing it will for sure get you an A. She is helpful, will answer any questions at beginning of class. Let's you do mostly everything on calculator (classpad) will show you how to use classpad.

Book is needed for Hw only, and it is optional to do. She emails you notes before and after class. Is very nice and super helpful. Hands down best Prof I' ve taken at Dade, and it's my last semester. She let's you use calculator, but I have learned so much, something i have never said before about math.

i withdrew from this class because i started a new job and had no me to study great professor if you enjoy sitting and watching her play with her she emails the notes and gives extracredit on hw i could have passed if i was unemployed and had my book on time to start on the hw, she does answer emails quickly and final replaces worst grade

Best math professor on campus! Made learning algebra easy and simple. Does everything on her laptop and projects it on the projector. Sends her notes to your e-mail and gives you 10 points towards your exams for turning in homework assignments. Will still give you some credit if you don't finish the homework. Very funny and likeable. A++ Professor!

Professor was great. She is not hard. She allows you to use a calculator and shows the steps. It is your responsibility to be in class. You miss the class/lesson you better have a good understanding of what is going on. The test are fair and not hard. If you struggle with math I recommend spending a lot of time in the math lab.

Professor Gerken is simply THE BEST. Not only is she a great teacher, but she is nice as well. Very understanding that not everyone is good at math. She is amazing. She is a red headed Caucasian, with a lot of knowledge. To get an A- do the online homework, you get 15 bonus pts on every test for 90% completion. And do the reveiw- its exactly like the test. I do not enjoy math- I did study. And I do good. And I am taking her again for MAC1105.

She is a good professor but I think many years of teaching has driven her crazy. She gives extra credit but it's not necessarily "free" points. Her class is difficult if you don't have a strong math background but it is not impossible to pass either. Put in the effort to study and learn the material and you should get atleast a C.

Textbook isn't required if you plan on doing the homework online. She'll request you use a certain CASIO calculator. The calculator will become your best friend. She lets you use it for everything. Her lectures make the work easy to understand. She gives extra credit towards tests if all your homework is complete on time. She's a great professor.

Great professor. Super clear, emails lecture notes from every class, gives test guide. 5 Open-ended tests, must show work. Tests are not hard if you practice like you should. Graphing calculator required. Optional HW online for extra credit. Take this class if you want to learn the material.

The reason I take her is because class nor HW is mandatory. However, i spend a lot of time at the lab because she teaches very fast. I teach myself and I do all the homework for the extra points. If you don't have time to spend at the lab and are not very good at math, do NOT take her. She is a cool lady but can be mean. Take someone with patience.

She's a great professor who makes learning math easy. No book required, attendance and HW not mandatory but HW gets you extra points on the exams. She lets us use an amazing calculator, even on exams. Notes are emailed to you after class and there are 4 exams with an optional final, all the tests are super easy if you do the HW to practice.

Professor Gerken has a great personality, and makes sitting in class enjoyable. Non-the-less, her class is not easy. I got A's on every exam, but I did every 100+ question review, and all of the homework. The class requires real studying if you want an A. 4 Test- 100 pts each, HW is optional but extra credit. Very organized, and structured.

One of the best professors at Miami Dade College and one of the best math teachers I have ever had. I would take her again in a heart beat as should any student. Attendance is not mandatory but it is essential for you to learn the information.

Great professor, who makes a tough subject very simple. Final test is optional. Homework counts as extra credit towards your exams. She always emails you a review of the test a few days in advance. If you do the reviews, you will pass the test! Although, get ready to pay for an expensive graphing calculator ($120-$150)! And yes, you NEED it!

Great professor, helps you out by allowing you to do the homework for 15 extra points on a test. Tests are hard you must study and show all work if not she will mark it wrong. I studied all the time in the lab, did all my homework and all her test reviews and got a C in the class. You must work for your grade. Otherwise, funny and awesome teacher.

She is by far the best mac1105 professor out there. Works out the problems in class and then sends you by email step by step instructions so you can complete homework and understand what you are doing. Not an easy class in general but she makes it as easy to understand as possible.

Awesome teacher that knows her stuff. Warning tho, he test are hard but she gives you ever chance to help you pass. Forces you to use a calculator, gives you extra credit for doing all the online math homework and even emails the lecture notes of class so you dont even have to show up to class cept for the test. I took for MAT1033, MAC1105, & MAC2233. I have never had such a great math teacher in my life. Her explanations are very clear and there's honestly no way you can fail her class. If you pass all the homework she gives you 10-15 points on the test. But homework is not mandatory. She sends all notes to you email. If I could take her again, I would!!

She never reviews so make sure you understand the material before attending class and ask questions if you're lost. Hwk is extra points, but you need to get 90% or better. If not, you don't get any extra points for that chapter.

Professor knows her stuff, lectures are by her tablet to the board. She sends the notes after class to you. Homework is not mandatory but will help you get extra points for the test. There are 5 test and 1 final that could help one bad grade go up. Pay attention, study in a group for the test. She sends a practice exam to help you more. Do them!

She's not your average professor. She comes to class and lectures. She makes it fun though... I would totally recommend her. Test 1-3 are extremely easy (f you study) then it get's harder from test 4-6... But if you actually work for it, it is real easy. She is also very funny. That's another reason I come. Homework not mandatory or attendance.
