If you put in the work, you can get an A. I did, and i am not a Comm pro. She will work with you, but slow to answer e-mails though.

She's very fun and helpful after you get to know her more. I got a B, but I learn to relax a lot/ It really helps with the anxiety level in speeches. I don't know if she's bias or not, but I know why she grades some of my speech that way and why some people gets points mark off. You just have to be prepare for class because she did make it clear.

She is fun to have in class. She will provoke discussion and she grades fairly. She is a little quirky-Personality wise-but that shouldn't matter. I liked her and I have had a lot os professors. If ou don't do well in her class, you probably didn't put in the effort.

There were so many rumors floating around how hard comm 501 was but Donna made it so fun! The class is a little time consuming, but hey its 501. I ended up loving that class :)

Cooool Teacher. Best one I've had yet. Guaranteed to miss at least 2 classes per quarter and always a cool person to just sit and have a chat with. Respects and demands honesty and attentiveness.

i really enjoyed this class. Prof Gotch is a very innovative and cool professor. She makes the class very interesting and is hilarious! her grading is very good, contrary to what others have said.. once you do the work and COME TO CLASS, its a sure A... really this is a no-brainer. She adequately prepares you for examinations and overall I would suggest you all take her. If you are not open minded and comfortable with disagreeing with a professor...sorry for you.

Class was awesome! Donna Gotch is a wonderful teacher. Her "favortisim" is often misconstrued. She loves her students and most of them respect her for her knowledge. She was very effective in stimulating my knowledge on Comm theories. Maybe I was just a favorite? The only way you couldn't like he, is if you didnt take the study if comm seriously.

Never a dull moment in Donna's class. Her reviews for exams are thorough and totally prepare you for the tests. I'm waiting to take other classes when she is teaching them and it fits my schedule!

Prof. Gotch's class is easy if you go to class. She explains the lectures in way that is easy to understand and lets you know what will be in the final. Her class structure is more of a discussion not her lecturing you and writing notes.

Donna Gotch keeps the class's attention from beginning to end. Motivating us to be prepared to class and to actually come to class, she made it very easy for me to understand the material. Review for exams is thorough, and she demands class participation, increasing our versatility. Highly recommend this professor.

I don't normally like lecture classes and I'm VERY opinionated. That didn't stop me from enjoying Donna's Class. We disagreed on topics A LOT, but as long as you have a sense of humor and can take a disagreement in stride she is good about respecting your opinion. If your feelings get easily hurt however, you may want to find a different prof.

I forgot the number of the class. It is a public speaking class. I was in it to learn public speaking, not for the grade. I got a good grade, but that was not so important to me. I learned alot in her class and she made the class fun. I really liked her class. It was years ago and I still have fond memories of it.

I Never Got Bored in That Class. She is very funny and sarcastic.I Enojyed going to her class everyday BUT she grades as if you have been doing speeches for a long time. DO NOT pick boring topics for your speeches. Make them creative and do not begin your speech with "Hi My Name Is".She gives the exact pages to study for you midterm and final.STUDY

Very good professor, you will learn alot and remember what you learned. She is very clear on what she expects from her students and is very helpful inside and outside the classroom. Promotes class discussion and lectures are never boring. Take this professor, she can be challenging but will make sure you learn.

The comments on here are half good and half bad about Gotch and that is how her class is. Bottom line: Gotch grades really hard and she has almost no tolerance for the "first timer" excuse. The only way you are going to get an A in that class is if you work hard to make your speech sparkle. But on the bright side, she is literally the best professor i've had so far because she knows what she's teaching and I can GUARENTEE you that you will enjoy coming to class everyday because she is so funny!

Awesome professor... I've taken 3 classes with Gotch and each one just gets better. She IS a VERY hard grader but she tells you EVERY question thats going to be on the midterm and final and tells you EVERY page that you can find the answers... She can come off as rude but i Love her! She's Definitely one of my favorite Professors!!!!

Donna has been by far one of my favorite teachers I have had at CSUSB some people might think that she is rude but I think that they don't get her sense of humor she is very blunt and tells it how it is but she is a very good teacher she tells you exactly what you need to know for the test and is very straight forward.

To me, communication was a safe and practical major until I stumbled into the academic arms of Dr. Gotch. Second time taking her and, yet again, I had a great time. Class was very opinionated which I guess I can understand for an Ethics course, but it didn't detract from the learning environment. One major presentation, one major paper, 5 quizzes. That's it.

Donna is great. She has a no bs attitude. Met with her during her office hours to discuss presentation and she really helped. Very clear on what will be covered on quizzes, its all based on the readings and films.

Professor Gotch is a little crazy but it makes her class quite entertaining! Her tests can be pretty stressful but once you take them they really aren't that bad. Make sure you get a good group for the group project (it could make or break you!) And don't expect you grades back in a timely manner...she is the slowest grader I've ever had!

I LOVE DONNA! Very interesting class. Very opinionated about ethics, but gives you a different perspective on a lot of things. I learned a lot and I recommend taking this class! Attendance is of course mandatory. You take 5 quizzes and they're easy. READ THE CHAPTERS. One essay and one group project. We watch two films. Overall she's amazing!

My third (and final) class I've taken with Donna. I had zero interest in this course prior to taking it, but I wanted to take my final elective with a trusted instructor. Her attendance was a little spotty this quarter, but she made it up in the end. 1 major paper, 2 observation journals, and 5 quizzes.

This was my second class with Gotch. I wish I had taken more classes with her. She knows her stuff and makes class fun and interesting. She is a tough grader but she is very specific about her assignments, follow her instructions and you will pass. Best professor in the communications department along with Metts.

Gotch is seriously the most amazing teacher at CSUSB. Not only does she makes sure you know what she expects, but her lectures and lessons go beyond the classroom. As a COMM major I was real nervous to take this course because I've heard so any bad things about this class. Donna immediately makes the material understandable for everyone! She repeats when you ask, relates material to real world time, and loves participation. 2 exams- tells you exactly what will be on it. One group pres. find a good group.

Quite the looker and if it weren't for her fiery passion to teach this course, I might be diagnosed with a boredom virus and drop immediately. She makes the class fun and regarding grading, it's not too bad as long as you don't overthink the work because it is very simple and straightforward! If you miss class just make sure you read the book !

Wonderful woman! She is such a great professor! When she gives you the option to turn in a draft for a paper, take it! Trust me! The class is based on a couple quizzes, group project, and paper. If you pay attention in class and go to class, you'll get an A. She is a very experienced professor and makes class so entertaining. Take her!

In COMM, it's expected that you can write an 8-page paper and make a proper presentation in your senior year. If you can't or you won't, don't expect Dr. Gotch to break her own ethical commitment to you. It's an Ethics class for Pete's sake. That said, she allows you to turn in as many drafts of your paper until the deadline. Which means she cares.

Prof. Gotch is by far one of the best Comm professors at Cal State. She's extremely enthusiastic and passionate about what she teaches. She cares about her students and is always available to them. Honestly, people who complain about Gotch clearly like to be spoon fed in college. Great professor and you learn so much! Study Guides provided!

She is challenging in all the right ways, and it will make you think. Donna is on FIRE in and out of the class. Extremely quick witted and hilarious! Hotter than a Ghost pepper, that is FOR SURE!

Donna is a great professor, tells you exactly what she wants and her class is pretty straightforward. Her lectures are fun but i wouldn't take her if you are overly sensitive, she might make you cry lol Overall i learned a lot, i would take her again. I loved her class. I am planning on taking her COMM 491 course. She is hilarious and relates course material to our school experience. I learned a lot in this class. I'm glad I took the course. Get the book and do the readings because there will be questions from the book on the quizzes. Quizzes are not difficult, if you pay attention in class.

Amazing professor so hilarious and charismatic, cares about all her students. study guides for midterm and final, mostly common sense but you have to look in the book for specific terms used. Grading requirements for speeches are clear since you get the rubric difficult to pass with an A, you have to ace every assignment every point matters.

Also, Donna does not put up with students who try to take over entire class sessions with their personal stories, which is rare at CSUSB.
