Very knowledgeable on the subject matter, but sometimes scatterbrained with technology. Her tests are pretty easy if you come to class. There is a discussion board and quite a bit of reading, but it's an interesting class. I guess there's supposed to be a paper, but she didn't have time this semester.
Great lady, very interested in her work and it shows. Great personal stories and experiences to share. Discussions are interesting. Make sure you do the readings! Even if you attend class a lot of the test material won't be clear if you don't read the assigned readings. Had online discussion board assignments, easy points so take advantage of it.
To succeed you HAVE to do the readings and go to class. There's a lot to read, but it is in your best interest. The tests are not bad if you read and take notes in class. Class discussions get out of control sometimes, so it can get irritating because not all the material that is on a test is always covered.
this class was my hardest 101 class i've ever taken. go to class and do the bonus, becuase that is the only way you will stay afloat. it's not that she's hard, she just goes off on tangents and it's difficult to pay attention or follow her through all of her tangents and stories.
She is an extremely nice lady and willing to help if you need help. The tests are easy if you study what is on the study guide. She has a study session for each test which is so helpful. Also, do the extra credit (they're easy) and worth a good amount if you do them all. I never did a reading and I got an A.
She is an extremely interesting lecturer, and knows a lot about the general scope of the topic. She is willing to talk to any student after class, and was always fast to respond to emails. Her tests are sort of hard, but if you go to class and read, it isn't a difficult class to pass.
Why is this woman even teaching? She is incompetnet.
She pushes her own agenda in her class, instead of actually teaching good material. Her books are selections of bleak outlooks and vast failures of the human race. She never takes into account the good in the world and paints the picture that we're all screwed in a few years. An incredibly negative professor, skip taking classes with her.
Tests are difficult. Do the disscussion boards for extra points, it'll help you in the end. Also she didn't make us take a final if we had a C or better.
worst professor anyone could ask for..steer clear from her!!
Worst teacher ever. The tests were very difficult with tricky wording and questions. Avoid taking classes with her!!
I have to agree with the other posters – this is the worst professor ever. The class was a horrible experience and I did not learn anything of value. I desire more for my money and my educational experience
This class is hazardous to your mental health. Not a good time. I suggest taking another prof.
This class is really easy. Just go to class and take notes and you'll be fine if you study everything on the study guide. Sometimes the questions can be tricky but I still got an A. She's a really interesting lecturer and even in a class of 300 she has discussions that students participate in. Great class and it's not hard at all.
Challenged class to submit their own views and give support. Yes she sort of does base her lectures on her views/experiences but she wants you to respond. It wasnt really about learning material, just learning about minority groups and programs. Do discussion boards and skim readings and pay attention and you get an A.
The professor made the class very interesting.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! Seriously made me depressed by being so negative around the world and basically preaches if u have no money now, u wont b anyone when ur older...hated this class...
she is a horrible professor. all of her classes were completely pointless, and lectures were extremely jumbled and normally had nothing to do with what she meant to be teaching. they were all really boring, and uninteresting at all. she gives us nothing to look forward too as she talks very negatively. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Dr. K was one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She would ramble off topic every day until a week before the exam when she tried to cram everything in. She was very repetative. She voiced her opinions more often than she taught the material. Her studyguides never prepared me for the exams- the class average for the final exam was 68.
not good. did not teach clearly at all, and material on the test was not what was on the study guide.
This class was boring, like most lectures, but it was not too hard. If you go to class and take notes then you will be fine for the tests. She goes off on tangents, but oh well. She gives review sheets and has review sessions. Offered a lot of extra credit if you did the discussion boards. As long as you study the review sheets you'll be fine.
Dr. K is very passionate about the material and her presentations are very interesting. May be tough for those on the right end of the political spectrum, as her perspective is best described as Marxian, though not blatently Marxist. Read, go to class, and pay attention and you will get an "A."
AWFUL class. Bad teacher. Do not take this class! She is far too opinionated, and claims that taking notes in class is useless, because that wont be on her tests. Why am I showing up then?! Avoid at all costs!
Dr K is great prof. Notice most of the neg comments are from 101 classes (aka Freshman) You do have to read, go to class, and make sure you understand the material. She does throw in her own comments but welcomes others (sometimes discussions get deep) Really enjoyed her and hope to take more classes with her
Dr. Kaufman is incredibly intelligent and knows the subjects she teaches. From time to time the class room gets into heated debate, and it's never boring. My favorite teacher to date at BG. I would absolutely recommend her class to anyone.
This was a pretty interesting class. There were a lot of notes, and we didn't always have time to write down all of them. She was pretty opinionated, and did seem to be on the left side of the isle, but she never seemed to get too bad at trying to convert people. I didn't like that she brought up universal healthcare a little too much.
The tests are slightly hard. You have to memorize all the notes. There was one research paper that was not too difficult. Class is boring, just PowerPoints. She ALWAYS gets off topic and you don't get much accomplished in one class. She takes attendance everyday, not mandatory, but counts for participation points. Subject matter was fun.
I had a hard time in this class and she knew it. I was even in a mentor grupe once a week on top of studying and still only got a C :-/.
You definitely have to attend class with her, and not fall asleep.Fill in the study guides and do the extra credit assignments. She is easy to reach and will help you if you send her an e-mail letting her know you need help. Gives great examples, and if you take good notes, you most likely won't even have to read the books.
She's alright. Tests are really difficult -- even when I studied I managed to get a C. She rambles a lot, but I thought it was interesting. I was rarely bored in class. You only get 3 tests as your only grades in the class, just something to keep in mind if you're someone who doesn't do well on tests.
I took Dr. K's Sociology class at Rhodes State College. She was never boring, had complete control of the class and made it very interesting. Wish there had been more use of the book, but Dr. K does not put much stock in teaching out of the book. I never thought her tests were that bad; if you just knew the concepts, you were fine.
Her classes could be interesting at times, but I didn't like how she occationally brings her own opinions into some topics. Her tests were fairly difficult. She tends to ramble on and go into rants, and then she complains about being behind in where she wanted to be in lectures. If you can tolerate a liberal point of view, she is a so-so professor.
Pretty clear on what she has to say. Really no point in buying the book because she doesn't use it. Go to class and take notes. Powerpoints arent available on the Internet. Tests were hard.
By far the worst class ever. She is the most negative human on the planet.
Do not take. Is not helpful if you ask a question. Has a negative vibe when she teaches.
Tells you to question authority, as long as you don't question her authority. Presents her opinion as fact. Will make you feel inferior if you try and argue a point.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. She is really negitive and is racsist aginst her own race (whites).
Her teachings are completely opinionated. She doesn't care about anyones grades in the class, straight up told us she doesn't care what we get in the class. If you haven't been to 3 classes, her very brief study guides for the exams are useless. You can't look anything up in the book or online because everything she teaches is her opinion. Avoid!
If you attended class, you never need to use the book. She explains all the concepts she wants you to know and uses many examples.
This class was not exceptionally hard as long as you understand her opinions. She is a negative person and can leave you feeling depressed about life. As a teacher, she really does not care about her student. I think that her intense interest in sociology made her lose all faith and belief in students. beware: white males
hated this class more than anything.
This class is easy as long as you go and take really in-depth notes. The professor is a crazy person. She has no problem publicly humiliating white students, but a colored student can talk ALL through class and she won't say a thing. She DOES NOT care about her students at all. She is extremely negative and the class will leave you depressed.
She isnt depressing, she just speaks the truth and while she states her own opinions, she does teach proven sociology curriculum.if you attend class and do more than copy slides for note taking, anA is more than reasonable.
Class is hard. Everything is based off her opinion. She does not use concepts well. You have three test and each one is a little difficult. The book does not really coincide with the class. Take notes about her opinion. The yellow text does not really matter. Avoid this teacher if you can!!!!!
Excellent professor. Really liberal, but she's a sociologist, so if she believes what she teaches, she should be. Taking her again because her lectures are really interesting. I've learned a lot from this course.
Do not take this professor!! She was nasty and does not care about her students. She should not be teaching with that kind of attitude!
She was mean and had a really bad attitude, I tried tutors and group sessions, note cards, and I even did exactly what she said and filled out the study guide as she was talking, but NOTHING helped! Her tests are hard to understand and I am glad I don't have to take it again.
Amazing teacher! Exmas are a piece of cake as long as you come to class everyday, take good notes, and study them & the study guide for the exams an A or B is easy to obtain. When taking notes or studying, make sure to include examples of the terms to understand them better and dont just copy word for word what's on the board.
I absolutely hate this class. I'm currently taking it and will probably have to retake it due to the fact that we only take three exams and I've already failed the first one. Donna is horrible. I don't take tests well and I would never recommend this prof to anyone.
she is very fiesty to students. easy class if you actually show up. tests are mildly easy and she gives several extra credit chances. easy on the eyes, if you know what i mean
If you are either white, male or wealthy, she will talk down on you. LORD BE BY YOUR SIDE IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE ALL 3. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER AT ALLLLL!!!
She is very hard but you learn a lot through this class. Attendance isn't mandatory but she gives optional pop quizes that she uses as extra credit so if your grade needs help these are useful.
Good teacher if you go to class and take half decent notes. You could not open the textbook the entire semester and be fine. Very interesting class, even if you disagree with some of the topics discussed.
I had the class last semester and hated it. I took okay notes, and even with my study groups we didn't understand any of the material. If you feel like you are doing well on the exams, you are most likely wrong. If you take it try the TA for help or ask her. Otherwise get a better teacher.
This online class is a VERY hard class, in sociology terms. She has her lectures online, and the book you read is just full of articles. You write journals, that she grades VERY strictly, and have group discussions (good luck getting full points). The exams cover things she didn't talk about, and that weren't in the book.
Hard class, she rambles on every day. If she didn't take attendance I would debate about going since class is never relevant. Exams are tricky and confusing and STRICT on grading. Not even half way done with this class and I'm struggling. Do not take.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. She is a socialist who constantly attempts to persuade the class that every problem in the world is related to capitalism. She is inconsiderate and takes this intro class wayy to seriously. The class average on exam #2 was a 66% for 275 students and she does NOT curve. You have been warned.
Come to class and take notes and you will maintain a B easily. She reads off powerpoints and GIVES you the study guide for exams! If you highlight what is on the powerpoint and write down what she says you WILL be fine! Gives random optional pop quizzes worth 5pts. Each quiz is a word like DANCE or CHILD. I thought it was intersting overall!
You wouldn't have her for this particular class because she took over for another teacher, but I thought she was an awful professor in general. I thought she was very unclear in lecture and her notes, and I usually thought I did well on her exams after taking them but then would end up with terrible grades. I took absolutely nothing from this class
She is awful. Even in a theory class she finds a way to make everything political and constantly shoves her political beliefs down your throat. Terrible grader. Goes off on tangents and talks about random information so you don't know what is important and what isn't. Definitely would NOT recommend her.
I am currently in this class. She is tough but helpful. If you come to class, pay attention and study you will be fine! I didn't read the book, but went to every class and I got an A on the first test. You have to go to class.
If you don't attend class, you probably wont do well. However, if you go to class and fill out the study guide you shouldn't have a problem getting an A or a B.
A tough class if you are unable to openly discuss social topics relative to social class issues cross culturally and historically. Must be able to formulate opinions and put concepts together without the prof's help. Prof helpful during office hours and after class if you show interest and participation.
I love her!
She cares about her students and it's sad that our class is so huge because I would love to get to talk with her. She's funny and inciteful. She really knows her stuff.
She was a tough grader and would go on tangents. At first she seemed kind of scary to approach but if you voice your opinions and can related it directly to the text and material she will respect you a lot more and will be a lot more helpful in clarifying! Pretty difficult class overall but the material covered is confusing in general.
She is a very hard prof. and pushes her views on the students. If you don't agree with her goodluck passing her course. She is extremely hard on grading, I won't ever take another class with her!
Her class is really not interesting and kind of painful to sit through. She gives you the study guide and the notes to make it possible to pass the class but there is only 3 exams and 3 extra credit assignments that go towards your grade. I would highly reccomend joining a study group or getting a tutor if you want to pass this class.
You'll actually have to try if you don't want to fail.
Horrible teacher. She teaches her POLITICAL views. This is not a POLS class, this is a SOC class. Also a very hard grader, and very opinionated. I highly advise not to take her.
she teaches her beliefs and how conservatives are stupid and liberal democrats are geniuses. didn't learn anything. doesn't teach you what you need to know for the tests, just her beliefs. doesn't really stick to the textbook, just the derber book b/c it follows her liberal beliefs. exams are hard, but all multiple choice.
She definitely knows what she is talking about, but often brings her political views into account. I definitely learned a lot from her; she's a good professor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She is rude and a grouch! If you're one who talks during class I suggest taking someone else because she will embarrass you and yell at you in front of EVERYONE.
She is pretty funny but pretty rude. She gets sidetracked but she knows what she is talking about. It's hard to pay attention but if you do you will learn a fair ammount
HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, AVOID! When I took this class I did NOT sign up for a politics lesson. All she talks about how republicans are stupid, and anyone who is white is a horrible part of society. offers bonus, too bad if you get the questions correct, rather than getting no bonus, you actually get negative points! I wish anyone who gets her luck!
the material is hard and you have to work hard to get anything above an average grade.
Dr. Kauffman is a great professor. If you put in the effort, she makes it easy to do well. She gives a study guide and is always available after class for questions. She offers extra credit throughout the semester. Class content is really interesting. She has strong opinions, but her exams are based on facts or the book. Attend class every day!
I took her social stratification and poverty class. i was excited because i like the subject and i was hoping to learn a lot and have good discussions. unfortunately, She is really biased and talks about her political opinions constantly. Worst of all she doesn't encourage discussion. Big disappointment. I will not take her again.
I enjoyed Sociology before this class. Unfortunately, she spent most of the time talking about her biased political opinions to the point where we spent more time listening to her talk about politics than actual sociology. The class is a little hard and I would not recommend taking her as a professor unless you absolutely have to.
Worst. Class. Ever. Study guides dont help, exams are impossible and she gets off topic more than she teaches
Class is not that difficult. If you show up to class, you should get an A or a B. My only complaint with her is that she is so political in class. She strays from what we are talking about to her radically liberal beliefs. It doesn't help that the textbook she uses by Derber aligns with her RADICAL liberal views.
Donna's Soc 1010 class is extremely hard as far as the material. But I have learned more from Donna and this class than I have learned in any other class at Bowling Green. She uses great analogies that help with clarifying certain topics in the class which was helpful. I will be taking another class with her this upcoming semester.
Did not like this class at all. No good at teaching, I would not recommend taking this class with this professor.
I highly advise not taking her as a professor, she is very hard and it is almost impossible to get an A in this class. She gets so caught up in examples and her opinion that its very difficult to keep track of what concept she it talking about. Although she gives you a study guide she doesnt even explain half of the concepts and the book is useless
She is so driven by her political viewpoints that it skews the overall learning of the course, and possibly students grades. Very mundane and boring, gets too caught up in personal stories. I would HIGHLY advise to avoid unless absolutely necessary.
Everything had to be her way or no way. If I provided answers that didn't fit her views then she would automatically take points off of my assignment grade. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH HER AS TEACHER!
A painful experience. Her style is not teaching, it is preaching. Very biased and demeaning to students. This class was supposed to be about sociology, not her views on politics on meaningless stories about her personal life.
Worst teacher i have ever had. she doesnt teach she talks and not even about what is supposed to be taught. this class is her pulpit to preach her political views. exams are extremely hard and so are the E-Journal homework's. her grading is extremely difficult.
she goes so far off topic and just rants about her political views in class. She also seems unconcerned when the whole class scores badly, i think it may make her happy?!
3 words: Spawn of Satan. If you do not agree with her, you are wrong. If you're not Methodist, you're wrong. If you're a republican, you're wrong. If you are not her, you're wrong
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. Save yourself the headache and misery. This isn't a sociology class. This was Donna 1010. She uses the class as a soap box and preaches her political opinion to hundreds of helpless students. Neither of the books are necessary.
I really enjoyed Dr. K and her style of teaching. The Intro class isn't too difficult if you go to class, and use her study guides. She does add her 2 cents about how she feels on certain issues such as the government becoming corrupt and such, but most of the time her examples were helpful in remembering the material.
A very caring professor. This class is hard and tests are ridiculous, each question is worded to trick you.
Great teacher, interesting topics, easy to follow as long as you pay attention and go to class. Her tests are harder than the quizzes but overall its material that is comprehendible. Never bought the book.
Shes a teacher that is very strict, but I have come to really appreciate it. If you talk or have your cell phone out she will bring it to the class attention. Just take good notes, and study and you will do pretty well in the class.
-One of those teachers who I really enjoy to listen to talk -I did not read the book and i just studied the notes got a B- on a exam -I read and studied notes and got an A -She has very strong political views BUT SHE BACKS IT UP HER VIEWS WITH GOOD EVIDENCE -I'm an Education major so this doesnt apply to my major but one of my favorite classes
Need to pay attention, take good notes, think of examples for your notes, and understand the concepts. If you just write down the powerpoint lecture you will not know what is going on. Being attentive and listening are key to success in this class.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She is a terrible professor! The first thing she told our class was that only one-third of the class will pass, and she was correct! I do not want to minor in sociology anymore because of her! if you have to take her, just write down everything she says and go to her office hours; with that you might pass.
There are only 6 chances for grades. 3 tests and 3 quizes. If you study your terms you will get good grades on the quizes but the tests are harder. She gives opportunity for extra credit but u can get negative points from it too. DONT BUY BOOK. You have to go to class for info. She does not post anything online.
Lectures on opinions. Tests are extremely hard!
Was really inspirational, and passionate! A little too political but shown reason in everything taught
The teacher is attentive to what is going on in society in which we all know of implicatively. However, she is skillful in bringing these into our faces. The book is important and notes taking. She is a tough teacher as we student are bias of what is going on. I have to respect teachers and even this one.
I hated this class for the sole purpose that she was the worst teacher I've ever had. I would rather pull my balls through a cheese grader than take her class again. She made me feel like an outcast in a class for Minority Groups. She constantly called me out in class.
She's clear in what you need to know for quizzes and exams, but she goes on about politics so much that half the time you will think that's what class you're in. Attendance is not mandatory but she does have a sign in sheet for every class. She talks about reading all these articles but she summarizes them all well enough in class for you.
fun class
Dr. K was a very nice lady but this is the HARDEST class I've ever taken. You literally come to class everyday & only take notes. & the bad part(at least for me), there's no HW assignments to help you prepare for her hard quizzes and tests. The only reason I took this class is b/c it was required for my major, so if it's not required DO NOT TAKE!
Terrible teacher, doesn't help at all. Lectures on politics, society, and opinions.
Dr. Kauffman is the best professor I've had so far in my college career. The tests were not easy but that's because she wants us to apply the concepts to real life situations so we understand it. She inspired me to inform others about racial inequality, discrimination, and healthcare. You will be well informed after taking this class.
Dr. Kauffman is horrible. She doesn't teach, she just lectures at you and says "right" after everything. I do not recommend her at all.
She's a sweet, old lady, but her classes are painful, almost literally. While she's nice, she rants about politics and other issues that you didn't need help hating, and you end up with no idea what class topic she's talking about, or what's on the test.
Tests are very difficult and study guides do not reflect exams very well. Lectures are long. No homework is given, points can only be earned by exams and quizzes.
This class was hard! Lectures were okay, but they were too long and we would be stuck on one topic the whole time. I didn't like that she use Donald Trump as an example for EVERYTHING. Her test are hard for no reason, and she don't like anything you right on paper. She thinks everyone should go to the learn commons for help. Terrible Professor
I've taken 2 of her classes; they're a great time if you have more modern/progressive ideals on society. She posts study guides for you to take notes off of (that way you aren't writing unnecessary notes all the time) and writes her tests directly off of the study guides. If you come and take notes off the study guide every day you will get an A.
I have really enjoyed this class very much. It has been very interesting and informational. The examples she gives are very helpful and she explains the ideas very well.
She knows her stuff, but make sure you read and remember the terms and know how to apply them you can get a good grade if you just listen
Dr. Kauffman is opinionated, no doubt. She is rough around the edges at times, sure. But overall, her class is not difficult. The things that she goes over in class are what she puts on the exams. Quizzes aren't difficult, and there is extra credit.
Going to class is a must because she does lecture the entire time Don't buy the book because you don't need it to pass PLEASE GO TO SI(SI is like a study group with a student who has already taken the class and passed)SI was the only time I studied she doesn't give EC but will boost your grade if you go to SI There is no homework 3quizzes and3exams
I really liked Donna because she's very passionate about what she's teaching. The lectures aren't mandatory but with 3 exams and 3 quizzes you need to attend class to pass. It's a very straight forward class and as long as you pay attention you'll pass and learn a lot of insightful things.
very opinionated. Complained everyday about the presidential election. If you are a conservative you will be irritated everyday because she constantly bashes them. She also will not round your grade. I finished with a 79.5%. I tried to email her but she got irritated and couldn't be bothered and refused to give me the B. Stay away from this class
C an do attitude Universily well respected N ot a slacker T otally loved her class
LOVED her class. I didn't think I would at the beginning, but it ended up being my favorite yet. She's very opinionated (which I loved), and always gave great and copious examples with each lesson. I didn't like that our only grades were on tests and quizzes. But this class had/has me questioning changing my major to sociology.
Very strict on grading and not in a good way. Did an assignment and got nearly 100% on it and when I modeled my second assignment after that she gave me a 0 saying I did everything wrong. Obviously cannot make up her mind when it comes to what she wants for assignments, only 400 points for the whole class so that 0 screwed my grade completely.
words don't do her justice. The absolute worst instructor you will ever have . Can't be bothered with anything so outside help is a no go. Better not get a 79.9% because she can't be bothered to round up
No homework , grade is made up from only test/quizzes/ exams. I would not take her again, she is not helpful whatsoever.
She offers extra credit but I had a bad experience. I was 1 point away from a B and I emailed her asking if she rounds up or if I could do any extra credit, she didn't even reply to my email, which is very unprofessional. So now I have a C on my transcript by only 1 point
Does an injustice to the discipline due to her Marxist tendencies. Claims there are no biological differences between races, that there are more than 2 genders and that there is no right wing socialism (National Socialism anyone?). These are all topics she decides to dive into without any degrees in biology or political science. Generic professor.
Her classes are lecture based and attendance is mandatory for the first like month then she stops taking it. We had a book but I never used it and my grade was fine.
Some people might not agree with her opinion, but she's a passionate teacher, and the class isn't that hard
No homework at all just quizzes and exams. Gives optional bonus tests that help your grade a lot if you know the content. She also likes to spell out words on her quizzes so that helped me a lot when I was stuck on a question.
Only used the textbook out of class to help study for exams. Lectured from powerpoint and said not to study the slides but you'll be fine if you do. No extra credit except from pop quizzes and she only gives like 3 the whole semester. Takes attendance. Exams and quizzes pretty difficult.
Don't by the book, it's a waste of money she gives you all the important info in the slides anyways - go to class and you'll pass. Exams and quizzes are hard and no homework, but she's very helpful if you go to her for study tips.
Go to class! Always! If you are in her intro classes make the SI tutoring sessions a priority and don't be afraid to talk to Dr.K! I really enjoyed this class, and I'd recommend her to other students. The textbook is kind of a waste of money unless you really want to read it? I regret getting it however. Her extra credit quizzes will save you!
Donna is a super intelligent woman. She brings fun energy and makes sociology really interesting. Some people say they don't like her teaching but I have to disagree.
Very liberal material and way of presenting ideas.
Professor Kauffman is a respectable woman. She is very funny, and strongly encourages class discussion. That being said, she is a terribly hard grader, and very opinionated. She is constantly pushing her liberal viewpoints on her students (coming from a libertarian). I'm a sophomore, and this will be the first B I've had in 4 semesters.
I've had classes with Dr. Kauffman before and I enjoy her. She's passionate about what she teaches but she's also a really hard grader. Her exams are for the most part memorization more than application. I wouldn't take this class if you do better with conceptualization than memorization. This aside, her lectures are enjoyable and inspirational.
this was probably one of the worst classes I could have ever taken. she's very strict and doesn't care about what you're going through and is always unable to work with anyone, no matter the circumstances. don't even bother on asking for extra credit because she will shut you down, very harsh. i would never take this class again.
Her class has nothing to do with Sociology and everything to do with her political whim for the day. At least 1/3 of the class is the tenets of Karl Marx. That guy who isn't a Sociologist. She will put objectively false questions on tests and quizzes that fit her political agenda, and will make you feel ostracized if you lean even mildly right.
her exams SUCK. literally goes a, b, c, not a or c, both a and b those are the options for almost every question. shes super intelligent but her tests and quizzes suck.
So, to put it lightly shes "tough" and I would avoid her. I don't like speaking negatively about anyone but I'm trying to warn people. Does not post notes online, moves through slides very slow. She will not let you take exams if you have not attended classes regularly. She knows what she is talking about, she's just not likable. Exams also tough
She would get off topic really easy during the class. No one would understand what she was teaching half of the time because of her getting off topic. A lot of people dropped the class or changed it to pass/fail.
She takes her course material seriously. Most BGSU students arent used to working for their grades, and find her class a rude awakening. She's not afraid to call out logical fallacies, and will NOT spare your sheltered feelings. If you want to slack off, or don't wanna learn: take another class. She's a professor for big kids only
Her exams are hard
She is very lecture heavy and do not explain well. She expects you to just know the material and gives you exam or quiz 1 week later. She does not give homework or any other practice material. So that being said if you fail a quiz your grade will go down as well as failing exams too. HORRIBLE TEACHER for a INTRO class.
DO NOT TAKE HER NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!! She is retiring after her online classes for summer '19 so wait if you have to!! She is the worst professor I have ever had. She is beyond disrespectful & does not care to help her students what so ever. I have so much to say about this horrible woman but do not have enough room in the text box.
She honestly does care about you and your grades. However, you have to show her you care. I flunked my first exam, and went to her to ask for help. She developed a comeback plan for me, and my grade rose. I started the semester with an F, and ended with a C. Although a C isn't the best, she showed she cared about me getting better, and I did.
